A/N // I watched the haikyuu movie yesterday and it was so good icl... I wanna write for kuroo now he's so sexy. i tried out a different header theme for this one and I honestly like it more than the other one idrk. anyways enjoy this little drabble 🩷.

HAJIME IWAIZUMI has always been the less noticeable friend.

It's not like he doesn't get attention. He gets plenty of that. But when it comes to girls, or anything in the dating category at all, most of them flock to Tooru.

He doesn't resent his best friend for his popularity, Hajime just wishes girls didn't come up to him to get closer to his friend.

Him and Tooru are grabbing fast food after practice and a girl approaches him as he sits at the table he chose for him and his teammate. Tooru is in line, probably flirting with the girl across the counter as he orders for him and his best friend.

Iwaizumi feels a little pathetic for hoping that she's going to ask about him. That maybe, just maybe, he might be getting a chance for once. He gets his hopes up, only to be completely shut down when she asks for Tooru's number. He thinks she might notice the light in his face dim, but she doesn't acknowledge it.

"You'll have to ask him. Not sure if he wants me giving out his number to randoms." He says as he turns his attention away from her, a lousy attempt to hide his annoyance.

She nods understandingly, "W-well, thanks anyway." She stammers a bit, her voice small and nervous.

He stops assuming so much when girls approach him after that, always prepared to slide his friends socials and move on with his day.

So, when you approach him, obviously a bit hesitant as you clutch your sides and stare at him nervously, he doesn't even let you speak before he starts spouting his friends socials.

"Huh?" You ask a bit cluelessly, and Iwaizumi looks over at you.

"You're here to ask about Oikawa, right?" He says, staring down at you. He's obviously confused, a thick brow raised as he eyes you.

"N-no..? I wanted to talk to you." You reluctantly say, and he tenses up. You don't even spare a glance at Oikawa, who's entertaining a few girls a few meters away.

"Me..?" He asks, surprised.

"You." You respond, dead serious.

The puny sparks of your attempt at conversation light a wildfire in Hajime's weak heart. The small talk you try to make forms into real, genuine talking.

Although, even when you ask for his number, he can't help but think you might be trying to get close to him just to get with Tooru as he types in his number.

He doesn't tell you that he thinks you're playing him. And even if you were, you would've already had him beat because it's barely been two weeks of talking and he's already wrapped around your finger.

Hajimes lack of need for attention wasn't something you acknowledged at first. You thought it was natural because not only was this his first time talking to a girl, but it's your first time being the one approaching. You don't know what guys like unless they tell you, so you just do what you think is right.

And then you came to the subtle realization that maybe he's not desperate because he doesn't expect much from you. Is he toying with you? Was the first question you asked yourself.

On the other hand, Hajime doesn't expect much because he thinks he knows how this goes (he doesn't).

Hajime respects Tooru. And usually, he wouldn't add a but to that, but... he is willing to go to any lengths possible to keep you as far away from him as he physically can.

He knows how his friend gets with crushes. He'll either do everything in his power to completely embarrass Hajime, or he'll flirt with the girl and make her realize that maybe she doesn't like him as much as she thought.

That's his version of a loyalty test. Take the girl he likes around his best friend and observe her reactions to everything he does. So, that's exactly what he does with you.

Hajime had no idea that you've already met Tooru many times before. You light up when you see him, and Iwa can already feel his heart shattering into a thousand pieces. And then, to put the cherry on top, you go in for a hug. You're even on first name basis, no honorifics or anything. He might aswell lay in his coffin early, because watching you hug Oikawa is the closest to dying he's ever been.

You look over at Iwaizumi to see him glaring daggers at the two of you, a green eyed monster taking over his body as he scowls. Your smile drops, and you wonder what he looks so mad for.

"Are you alright, Iwa?" You ask obliviously, tilting your head and taking a step towards him. His eyes land on you, and they soften ever so slightly.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me." He responds, blinking softly.

And for the rest of the day, all you do is worry about him. The pain on his face and the damp look in his eyes whenever he looks at you interacting with Tooru.

When the two of you go back to his place that afternoon, he asks to talk.

Iwa starts, "Is there something wrong with me?" He asks. You're taken aback, but you can tell he's serious by the look in his eyes. He looks hurt.

"Why would there be something wrong with you?" You ask, reaching over to grab the hand at his side.

"I just-" His voice cracks, and you want to fall to your knees right then and there. Hajime is about to cry and you don't know what to do.

The lump in his throat grows bigger the longer he stares at you. "Why didn't you tell me you already knew Oikawa?" He asks, blinking back the tears that threaten to spill like water from a faucet. He didn't exactly mean to ask that, but he thinks it's much better than 'I thought that maybe for once someone might like me, but as always they go to Tooru.'

"What do you mean? I thought you knew?" You ask, oblivious to the thoughts running rampant through his mind. Your grip on his hand tightens when a tear breaks past the defenses he's put up. You want to ask what you did wrong. You want to ask why he's crying. But the lump in your throat from watching his sadness grow and grow is unbearable, keeping you from asking for some much needed clarification.

"Knew what?" He asks, unable to think of anything rational or any kind of explanation for this other than you're interested in Oikawa.

"Me and Tooru grew up together- He's my cousin." You say, eyeing him confusedly and sadly.

Iwaizumi pauses. A wave of embarrassment washes over him. He was getting jealous over your cousin this entire time?

The night you met Hajime, Tooru invited you, his cousin, to get drinks. He must've forgotten to clear this information with Hajime because now he's standing in front of you, his deep eyes wide and filled with tears of anger.

"What? Did I do something? Are you okay?" You begin asking questions profusely, and Hajime just stares at you.

And then he begins laughing.

You're confused at his sudden change in emotion, the humorous chuckles leaving his mouth catching you completely off guard. "Hajime, what's going on?" You ask as he brings you into a relieved hug.

"For a second there I really thought you and Oikawa had something going on." He responds as he places his head on top of yours comfortably.

You audibly gag. "Are you serious?! This entire time I thought you knew I was his cousin!" You say into his chest. He tightens the hug, a deep laugh leaving his lips.

"Man, this is so fuckin' embarrassing." He laughs, and you can't help but join in.

"Like I'd ever choose his annoying ass over you anyways."

And suddenly, the unnoticeable Hajime Iwaizumi feels seen for the first time in forever.

You’re mentioning the ending where Reader moves on right? I think Luna would be a teen/preteen who’d be very aware of Lewis’ love eyes to her mom even so many years after the divorce. In this instance, I believe she’d find out at random, like from a little friend at school or she’d hear from one of her friends’ parents gossiping one time she went to visit… anyway, she’d be really upset with her father, and a little annoyed at her mom for never having told her. In the end, Lewis and Reader would have to unite in their co-parenting powers to come together and sit down with Luna. The girl would have a million questions and finally make peace with her dad buuuuut a tiny little part of her would always resent Lewis for the what-ifs of growing up with her parents still together.

As for Luna from the ending where Reader forgives Lewis… this would be a really angsty shit show. She’d find out by eavesdropping or a family member accidentally slipping up mid conversation. She’d be devastated because growing up her greatest example of happy and healthy relationship was her parents’. Finding out things weren’t that fairy tale she’d always dreamed of. She’d probably spent a few days not speaking to Lewis, her siblings (?) starting to catch up on the tension, Reader trying to get Luna to come around. She’d probably cry a lot, Lewis grovelling a lot, and finally they’d make up and Luna would start understanding that people are nuanced and flawed.

The First Time, Every Time: E.B.E.

He makes it to the front doors of her apartment building before he turns back, the photograph that she just insisted is a fake clutched tightly in one hand. He’s irritated and angry, in part because she’s always pushing back on him, and in part because she might be right. He does tend to overlook contradictory evidence when he’s hot on a lead like this. He does want to believe Deep Throat badly enough that it’s possible he’s not thinking clearly. 

She said she trusted him. More than that, she said he’s the only person she trusts. But her trust isn’t given blindly, and he can’t decide if that’s something he resents or appreciates. He just doesn’t know what to think. 

When she answers the door, his anger immediately wanes. Her eyebrows are all pushed together and she’s scanning his face for clues as to why he’s back already, and he’s still not used to someone looking at him like this all the time. Like they care. 

“Is something wrong?” she asks, opening the door wider and stepping aside. 

Mulder walks into her foyer and turns to face her. Truthfully, he has no idea why he came back. The conversation just felt unfinished somehow. 

“Why is it so hard for you to believe? Even after the bugged pen?” he asks, more frustrated than anything. 

Scully closes the door and sighs, then props her hands on her hips and levels him with an icy stare. How she manages to be intimidating at five foot nothing and with that pretty face is an X-File in itself. 

“I’m a scientist, Mulder. I don’t believe anything without irrefutable evidence. A bugged pen is not evidence that your picture isn’t a fake,” she says sternly, with a nod to the envelope in his hand. 

Mulder huffs and shakes his head, though he can’t disagree with her. 

“I just wish you could be a little more open minded,” he says, and Scully presses her lips into a tight line. 

“Your skeptical partner,” she says under her breath, and he feels a little flash of embarrassment at the memory of Langly’s comment. He may have vented to them a bit shortly after Scully started working with him, but he could also tell during their brief introduction that the Gunmen liked her. A lot. “You know what, Mulder, I wish that you could be a little more open minded,” she says sassily. 

Mulder scoffs. 

“To what, exactly?” he asks, tossing the envelope onto her kitchen table and taking one step towards her. She lifts her chin defiantly, and he has the overwhelming urge to kiss her, which catches him off guard. 

“To the possibility that you’re being manipulated,” she tells him, her eyes locked on his. “To the possibility that you’re wrong.” 

“What if I’m not wrong?” he asks, moving even closer, craning his neck down to bring his nose inches from hers. 

Scully blinks rapidly, unmoving aside from the labored rise and fall of her chest. It’s something he’s noticed about her, a tell that she’s emotionally activated even when all other signs indicate calm. He watches for it now, listens for it on the phone. Her breathy, “Mulder, it’s me,” tells him everything he needs to know. 

“If you’re so confident it’s real, why won’t you have it analyzed?” she asks, practically panting. 

Mulder slips his hand into the space between their bodies, and she startles when his knuckles brush against her chest just beneath her clavicle. He fingers the gold chain around her neck, fishing the tiny cross that hangs from it out from beneath the hem of her shirt, though his eyes never leave her face. 

“I have faith in my source,” he says, his voice low, and she draws in a shuddering breath. 

“A faith too fragile to be questioned is hardly faith at all,” she retorts. 

He has two concurrent realizations, with the backs of his fingers resting against the satiny skin of her breastbone and his face so close to hers that he can smell the wine on her breath: she is the most maddeningly stubborn person he has ever met, and he finds her immovable nature wildly arousing. 

He tells himself that he absolutely cannot kiss her at the exact same moment he realizes that he already is, and he pulls away sharply, terrified. Her eyes are wide and her lips slightly parted, and she looks just as likely to slap him as she is to kiss him back. 

“Sorry,” he stammers, taking one step away from her. “I don’t know why I did that.” 

His head is hung in embarrassment, so he doesn’t see her moving closer. He feels the painful press of her fingernails digging into the back of his neck, and when he looks up her mouth immediately covers his. She’s teetering on her tiptoes, anchoring herself to him with an arm slung across his shoulders, so he stoops down a bit to compensate for their mismatched statures. Her hands move to his face and her kisses grow hungrier, soon accompanied by little whimpers that make his head spin. 

“Scully,” he tries to say, but she swallows the sound of her own name and shakes her head with a muffled “Uh-uh.”

What does that mean? Is he supposed to stop her? Should he let it happen?

Her fingers brush over the fly of his slacks and he jumps, grabbing her hand to still it and pulling his head back, just out of reach. 

“What are you doing?” he asks breathlessly, very aware that she just made full contact with his very hard dick. 

She just stares at him for half a second, her expression unreadable. 

“I don’t know,” she says, looking mildly shocked. “Should I stop?” she asks, flashing her eyes to his groin. 

Mulder’s jaw tenses. He knows what the right answer is, but he can’t bring himself to say it. 

“I don’t know,” he parrots back to her. 

A beat passes wherein they look at each other, his hand still wound around her wrist. He knows she won’t keep going unless she’s absolutely sure he wants this. He taps the edge of the damp envelope against his palm, trying to think of something to say that won’t come across as flip or crude. 

“I’m sorry,” Scully begins, giving him only quick glances. “That was very unprofessional.”

Mulder laughs, and she looks at him sharply with a mildly bemused expression.

“Sorry,” he says, shaking his head. “Pretty sure it was a mutually unprofessional indiscretion. Takes two to tango, as they say.”

Scully smiles bashfully. “Right,” she says with a nod. 

“We got a bit carried away. Happens,” he offers, and he sees her relax. 

“Shouldn’t happen again, though,” she says, and he detects a hint of a questioning inflection. 

“Right,” he agrees. “Well, I better get going,” he says as he moves towards the door. “Need to see a man about having a photograph analyzed.”

Scully’s expression of surprise quickly gives way to amusement. 

“So that’s all it took to convince you, then,” she observes, clearly mildly embarrassed by her own joke. 

“I am but a man,” he teases back, delighted by her genuine smile. “We’re um…we’re good?” he asks.

She meets his eye and nods. “Yup,” she says, seeming confident that they can move past this, if not still a bit chagrined that it happened in the first place. 

“See you in the morning,” he says as she opens the door to let him out. He takes one step beyond the threshold, but then turns back and leans down to bring his lips to her ear. “I think it’s remotely plausible that somebody thinks you’re hot,” he whispers, then presses a kiss to her cheek before he turns and leaves.

Yorath Ingellvar "Rook" - Affiliations

This was fun to think about! Even though we are "locked" out of having actively negative relationships with our companions, I genuinely don't think there's anyone who did not get along with Yori.

Relationships exploration under the cut:

- BELLARA

Bellara is the first and mostly only who offers Yorath unprompted comfort, and as such, ends up being one of the companions they grow closest to. She's also genuinely interested in their craft and simply does not judge their necromancy and customs, so Yori feels less in the need to tone things down around her. Bellara does read their kindness and interest on her with a little romantic lens for a while, but soon notices it's not the same for them, and they become really close friends anyway.

- DAVRIN

There's no particular reason for Yori and Davrin to not get closer, other than simply lacking enough in common. Yorath has a difficult time relating to Davrin's lifestyle and the Wardens in general, and extends them a great deal of respect, but being a sheltered Necropolis Mortalitasi means they lack proper understanding to fully sympathize with such a hard-edged view of life. Davrin does mellow, specially towards Assan, largely due to Yorath's influence - which only deepens Yori's guilt at losing them on Tearstone Island. Even with the remaining griffons safe and thriving with the Dalish, Yorath tries to honor Davrin by assisting in any way they can.

- EMMRICH

Yorath's fast infatuation with Emmrich relies firstly on their common ground with the necromantic arts, but also on how vastly different Emmrich is from his fellow Watchers. Yorath was admittedly worried to have a senior Watcher around because in their experience, older Watchers tend to get a little bossy around their fellows, but not only Emmrich did not do that, the conversations felt even, and what starts as great respect snowballs into a giant crush. Yorath is completely enamored with how invested Emmrich is about the things he's interested in, and it goes nicely with their eventual dating/love life - while Emmrich's worried about being too much, Yori's just basking on having someone who's so actively showing affection to them.

Yorath is drawn to kind, passionate and dedicated people, and Emmrich ticks all those boxes. Besides, he smells of sage and has the most elegant hand gestures ever...

- LACE

Lace is hard to dislike, and is the person they've known longest of the Veilguard. There's a lot to them that's incompatible, but at the same time there's judgment without judgment. Lace's somehow extremely excited to show a previously cloistered Mortalitasi how fun the outside world can be, and while it can be overwhelming for Yori at times, they know it's well-intended. Likewise, Lace is curious at the same speed she's wary of The Weird Corpse Things that Yorath likes to talk about, but listens even when she thinks it's really weird.

A lot of their connection brews exactly from being upfront about their own opinions and hearing about a completely different world from their own, and even when Lace's powers start to manifest, it's that sincerity paired with loyalty that keeps them close.

- LUCANIS

Lucanis and Yorath might have reached a much better relationship status if it weren't for the events at Treviso. Lucanis doesn't resent Yorath for making an impossible decision, but also keeps a barrier on how close they can get. Yori in turn decides to respect Lucanis boundaries and be there for anything else he needs. They might not be having deep and personal conversations anytime soon, but the friendship and loyalty is there eventually.

- NEVE

Neve, as usual, is suspicious of Yorath from the start. She's seen too much weirdness and is a little too worn out from Minrathous to believe someone can be that driven to care about things they're not even directly involved with, but she eventually sees it's genuine. Yori on the other hand approaches Neve the same way they approach dealing with spirits (and everyone else really): through understanding, even when it's hard to. Neve's really grateful to have someone to share the burden of caring for Dock Town, even if not as passionately as she does, and slowly Yori chips away at her emotional walls until she can fully and genuinely believe they'll be there for her when they can, no matter what.

Yori, again, is drawn to people who care. So befriending Neve was really not unexpected. They even develop a fleeting crush on her because Neve is just Neve (all sorts of charming in her own blunt, stoic way), but even if Emmrich was not in the picture, they would likely end up as just friends.

- TAASH

Admittedly, most of Taash's and Yori's connection comes from their similar experiences with gender. Yorath embraces Taash immediately once it's a little clearer what's going on, and as such becomes someone Taash often seeks when they want to talk about something more personal than they'd like to disclose to the people at the Shadow Dragons. Not to say they don't genuinely get along besides that, but their shared interests are minimal and there's not much to go on for a deeper relationship.

Still, Yorath was present for very life-altering events for Taash, and while they might not hang out casually on the regular, it's Yorath that Taash trusts when a heart-to-heart is needed.

my thoughts on the two most recent games i've played (mouthwashing and silent hill 2 (2001)) which i've been thinking about alternately for the past few days for similar reasons

going to mention spoilers in here but this post will probably only be fully comprehensible to ppl who have experienced both games

not expecting many to read this but tumblr is quickly becoming my outlet for opinions that I can't rlly post on very public sites like tiktok where any criticism of a media means that I hate it and hate you for liking it. haterism be damned I actually got a net positive from playing both of these games!!

so I started playing silent hill 2 (original because I do not believe in/have the money to buy modern remakes) fresh off the back of silent hill 1 which is a game I REALLY enjoyed. I would EVEN say that sh1 is my number 1 cosiest game of the year.

sh2 is dirtier, bleaker and sleazier than sh1, and is lacking a lot of the occult aspects that I really liked. it's also like one of the most talked about games ever so like . i went into it with the knowledge of a few major plot beats and it took a long time playing to be able to take the game on its own terms.

i also took a little break halfway thru the game to stream mouthwashing for some curious friends. mouthwashing is a game thats very popular w streamers & youtubers and their audiences, so major plot points are also incredibly talked about. I mentioned this to a friend while setting up the game and he said I'll get something out of it anyway and then compared it to silent hill 2, which I kind of brushed off as a "psychological horror w unreliable narrator" thing (sorry choccy if you ever read this) but it turns out the two games are actually very similar in the way they draw my ire LOL

these things being: -sexual assault victim who doesn't have time in the plot to exist outside of her trauma. this is partially due to both plots being very tight and concise with no elements that don't serve a higher function BUT -this is then undermined by certain areas of gameplay dragging. for mouthwashing especially the last ~45 minutes felt very weirdly paced and unfortunately made me think of ppl who speedrun garten of banban in under 2hrs to get the steam refund, which resulted in later chapters being padded w drawn out segments.

The friends I was streaming for that have consumed more media than I have said that a lot of tropes in the game felt a bit derivative, but I don't know the things its deriding from BUT I wish mouthwashing would take more from the survival horrors its imitating in it's style. The gameplay between character interactions is limited to inputting codes you've read or corridors where there's only one correct route and everything else results in a reset - I think people that watched mouthwashing through a letsplayer might not truly get how understimulating that feels. Some more psychologically symbolic puzzles and riddles would not have gone amiss!

which brings me back around to silent hill 2, where I am legitimately just too stupid to do the 'collect and combine 3 items to progress' without a guide. because A) I don't intuitively clear out all rooms because I hate all combat encounters BECAUSE i am being too overly conservative with ammo so every enemy gets a fight to the death with melee weapons

i finished the game with a SURPLUS of ammo btw so that is partially on me for making myself struggle unnecessarily, but oh my goddd the prison/labyrinth section took so long!!

I also quite disliked eddie's plotline, which unfortunately literally just came down to his character design :/ his plot revolves around resentment over the way he's been treated for his appearance, but as a fat fuck myself my grievance was with the way he's been dressed by real world character designers that are falling on stereotypes. its juvenile in a way that betrays the subtlety of the rest of the game, and makes him seem infantile despite being so essential to james's arc. I genuinely think that a wardrobe change would have silenced my gut reaction of "what are they trying to say with this?", and its disappointing to see that the remake didn't take the opportunity when they did with maria

angela's plot was fascinating to me for depicting an abuse survivor with some imagery I've not really seen in other media! I think her character was written with a lot of respect, and her and eddie's plots feel like complimentary and cautionary tales to james, but it's very sad that ultimately her trauma was depicted as something that can't be lived with - this is something she shares with anya. I guess it's kind of disappointing that a womans struggle with sexual trauma ends in death in two games that are 20 years apart, I personally feel that theirs (and jimmy's suicide) is a bit of a tired trope

however. despite finishing extended periods of both sh2 and mouthwashing feeling annoyed and frustrated that they werent as tight as the rest of the game, but now that I've had days to process them my mind has been lingering on a few moments.

-pleasantly surprised by how legitimately startling pyramid heads introduction, really good use of unsettling imagery -sh's soundtracks always hit at the moments it counts -the last hour of sh2 had me in tears, mary's letter was bittersweet and I love how the tone completely changes depending on the ending. as someone that likes the occult stuff in the other sh games I loooove the implications of the rebirth ending but I appreciate it seems a bit left field in this standalone plot

-jim & curly's ladder conversation in the cockpit, I think that one stuck with me especially as the one defining moment in both of their outlooks, the wealth and status inequality that still leaves both of them wanting more out of their lives.. the guilt and resentment that can come of circumstantial success etc etc -similarly the dead pixel convo -swansea's honest monologue -the glitch effect after anya's suicide was REALLY cool visually, it felt like the one defining moment where mouthwashing really took advantage of its medium

TLDR I feel like I learned a bit about what I like and dislike in psychological horror by playing these two side by side, defintely interesting research while I'm drafting a horror comic with a dreamlike atmosphere... :)

Athon Surana is my warden!

He's a crunchy little bookworm who would much rather be researching or reading than fighting (or sleeping. Or eating. Or brushing his hair. Pretty much anything else).

He's an arcane warrior. Not because he wanted to be a frontline fighter or wield a sword, but literally because it requires less effort and thought than casting spells in combat. That's not to say he's a bad mage - quite the opposite in fact - but he doesn't want to spend the mental energy on fighting when he could much rather use his brain for Other Things.

Zevran is the love of his life, though I think them getting together is more incidental than anything else. Athon would likely have never sought companionship from anyone at all if he was left to his own devices, but he enjoys the time he spends with zev very much!

I imagine he's currently buried under a pile of books somewhere in Weisshaupt. The events of DAD will absolutely happen around him and he won't even bother to stick his head out of the library.

Garrett Hawke is.. well, you know

I love the default name and appearance for Garrett. The more I play DA2 the more it sticks as the only option for his appearance in my mind 🥲

I think my headcanons for him stick pretty close to canon - maybe with the exception I imagine him being even more pro-mage (perhaps even slightly racial) compared to the options you're provided in-game?

Anders is his romance and Garrett is very much All In on his ideals. Tbh I DO headcanon that he put together the plan about the chantry explosion and never stepped in because he supported the action.

I imagine he and Anders are off galavanting around Weisshaupt, waiting for Athon to finish developing a cure for the taint (and annoying Carver until the end of his days, certainly).

Lennox Trevelyan is my latest inquisitor!

He's the oldest of my three inquisitors, and incidentally the oldest of his siblings as well. Getting sent to the tower at a young age was frustrating and I think he held a lot of resentment toward his family and the circle for being caged as he was.

He also lost his faith during his years in the circle, which was quite jarring for someone raised in such a devout family.

That Lennox never saw any of his siblings or his parents again really Messed Him Up for a long time, and left him with a little bit of an inferiority complex and a smidge of abandonment issues 🥲

The inquisition (and his role in it) made things both better and worse - the power never went to his head, but he was certainly a bit of a radicalist when it came to freedom for mages and equality amongst all those under his command.

His romance is Dorian, and tbh with his disbanding of the inquisition, I imagine he went chasing after him to Tevinter (darn abandonment issues strike again), acting as a liaison for Leliana as divine.

Ashiriel Lavellan is my middle child with a weird AU backstory

SO Ashiriel is my one character that breaks a lot of the established lore. She was inspired by an au I built for myself and then never posted anywhere around... 2018? Where Dorian fled Tevinter with the help of the chargers a year or so early.

Ashiriel never imagined herself a mage. She made it 25 years without any magic manifesting, then during a traumatic incident when caught by some nasty noblemen in the forest, she lit them on fire (and half of herself too).

Basically, to cut an incredibly long-winded backstory short, she was rescued by bull and Dorian after they stumbled upon her. The chargers stayed with clan Lavellan for a time, helping Ashiriel heal and defending them as they moved away from Wycome etc.

They don't meet again until the tear etc, but all this sort of informed how I built Ashiriel in the game!

Cullen is Ashiriel's husband and I imagine they live happily ever after in the woods of ferelden, mutually healing from their extensive trauma 😌

Veren was my first inquisitor!

Veren is a precious little baby, new to the world just like me lmao. We both knew nothing going in to inquisition, so I was a stupid dumb dumb idiot and romanced Solas on my first playthrough with her.

We're both not over it.

Veren is a rogue (the only non-mage out of all my protags haha), but because she loved and trusted Solas, she kind of worked heeding his advice the whole game.

The one exception would be the well of sorrows - still reeling from the breakup she decided to ignore him that one time and... Well, we'll see what happens there, I suppose.

You bet your ass she's chasing that stupid egg across Thedas and beyond. Veren is hella determined and will stop at nothing to try to redeem Solas. Or maybe she's in denial, hard to say.

I think this is even longer and more rambly than yours 😭😭 i'm so sorry YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THIS

but you did! so, first off, Athi is uhhh passionate and can be quite stubborn, she is very much an act-first-make-excuses-later kinda gal, and she loves with her whole heart. she also ultimately agrees that the Veil has to go, and is pragmatic about what that means for Thedas' current inhabitants. I mean she isn't quite to the same "whatever the cost" point as Solas, and I think she's actually more realistic about what that cost might be than he is, but she is satisfied with a pretty high level of risk. in fact, I like to think this causes a lot of friction with Varric, and then Rook as well. she's maybe gotten a little too comfortable with making world-altering decisions.

anywayyy during and immediately after Trespasser, she is in pain and exhausted and that plus two years of pining after her ex (humiliating) and having to literally hunt him down have made her kinda bitter and resentful [tiny fic]. I mean, a bit pleased, also, to find out he has been pining right back! But mostly pissed off that he left her—again—and is being so stupid and stubborn about doing this alone, and about losing half her ARM, and also she's very very very sick of playing scapegoat for the humans. so she disbands the Inquisition and goes on the hunt again herself. this entire time period is rough for her; she does a lot of traveling, much of it solo, trying to locate Solas and use her connections to find a better way to offer him (magical science is NOT where her own talents lie). she sees her friends when she can, and finds joy with them and in the natural wonders of the world like she always has, but is largely consumed by this task, and it wears on her. I do think she tries to move on romantically a time or two (probably at Dorian's insistence tbh), but it never gets far. by VG she's pretty much resigned herself to living in this weird awful limbo where she loves him and maybe he loves her and that doesn't matter even a little.

the ending i wrote for them [tiny fic, same series as the other one] is for sure a tragedy, which.. I've always viewed them as a tragedy, and Athi's kind of a pathetic, tragic character, but I was really hoping Bioware would write me a happier ending. and they did! I'm mostly satisfied with it, even though a lot of the getting there doesn't make sense to me. the choice to go with him was in-character for her.

so in the VG canon, she steps in to help out the south because i guess no one else has their shit together (and she does?? somehow), and comes back for the big fight. In That Moment, she has never been more sure about anything in her life. kind of like Rome, it's a sense of relief. she's devoted ten years of her life to finding him and figuring this out, and cannot imagine spending the rest of it just. living normally without him. in true Athi form, she does not think this decision through, but would come to the same conclusion either way. whatever happens, they'll figure it out. or maybe they won't! but in her mind, together is far, far better than not.

spoilers for the fic-to-be, but since i'm not a longfic writer and it might suck in which case i'll keep it to myself, i'm not worried: in MY canon for her, she splits her efforts between supporting Rook as a sort of agent and attending to things in the south, which is for sure suffering but not utterly devastated. athi's actually the one to "recruit" Mythal (which goes predictably well /s) and learns a TON about the blight and the titans and tranquility that she adds to what she's learned from the vir'abelasan and some other people, and realizes that now that the gods are out, there's an opportunity to genuinely Do It Right if they can kill them. so she goes into the final confrontation with much more of a plan in mind, and is way more involved in talking Solas down. and him entering the Fade is not him relinquishing his goals, like it is in-game, but more of a redirection. like, yeah this way will be much harder and take longer, and Solas is going to have to do a lot of healing before they can even start that work, but it will be a true solution and not just an undoing, like he wants, or an atonement, like Rook wants. and then in the Fade they basically have to learn how to love each other all over again, because it's been a decade and they have BAGGAGE. but i love that for them!

ultimately their happy ending is that they heal the blight and the titans and bring down the veil (maybe they convince people in the waking world, maybe not, haven't decided) and the world changes and its cataclysmic (not like everyone dies but. a lot of things change! society gets fucked up) but also whole. still ruminating on the flavor of ending i want for them, but rest assured it is way happier than nomt.

Lets start out with a light one; Sean absolutely has ADHD and dyslexia. Everybody knows Sean can't read, but nobody asks WHY Sean can't read despite frequent opportunities to learn. Based on the camp interactions with Lenny, we know he has been willing to attempt to learn, but has given up. This reads a lot more like learning disability to me, than it does laziness!!

In a similar vein; Sean taking frequent naps/falling asleep a lot is because he's a light sleeper - he has had a hard time falling asleep and staying that way ever since his father got murdered in his bed by the law. Left an impression Sean can't really shake even when surrounded by friends and allies - it's easier to nap when it's light out and people are awake in the area. Combine that with the ADHD and suddenly he's sleeping when he's not supposed to - like on guard duty.

Btw Sean has REAL BAD nightmares so that doesn't help at ALL either

Sean's mom probably passed when he was very young - he doesn't have any tangible memories of her in the same way he does his dad. Telling stories about him is how Sean keeps the only real family he had alive.

SIMILARLY I imagine it was just the two of them fleeing to America together; Sean was right there when Darragh got killed in his sleep - I imagine him waking up to a gunshot tbh.

In previous posts I've talked some about Sean's parallels and similarities to Arthur. Consider; Sean having similar self-esteem issues as Arthur, but instead of being quiet and disparaging about it, Sean covers it up by boasting and talking a big game. Nobody tries to talk Sean up because they all think he has a big ego, and it sort of just feeds into the insecurities Sean already has & is trying to avoid thinking about.

Also; Sean is generally an open book about his feelings, but he struggles a LOT with being truly vulnerable or getting at the deeper stuff. He'll also always downplay and make a joke out of truly traumatic and desperate situations he's been in. Though he DOES tell you what happened, he's chuckling and acting like it's nothing. (This isn't even a headcanon, he actually does this very consistently. It's why Karen is so mad at him in that one camp interaction after the party lol)

The only times Sean feels comfortable not being The Camp Clown is when Dutch isn't around, with a limited amount of people to witness. He still feels weird about the fact that he did actually try to kill him, when they first met, like he actually pulled the trigger (I feel like people are prone to forget this abt him), and he's never sure if Dutch might resent or distrust him a little for it. Same goes for Hosea.

A MacSummers one I came up w on discord literally yesterday; Sean has a Claddagh ring heirloom he got from his late mother through his late father. He gifts it to Lenny at some point, who doesn't realize the symbolism, just the sentimental value. Lenny wears it on a chain around his neck.

The previous one could work for MacJones too but tbh I think it hits harder for MacSummers lol (im biased)

Sean blocked out a lot of what he experienced while holed up at Ike Skelding's; the teethpulling and the burned feet were probably some of the lighter things he had to endure.

Sidenote the fact that his feet were fucking burned being as brushed off as it is makes me fucking insane. How bad were they burned Sean? Are you in pain atm? Should you be walking?

on this topic, do you think Summer will follow the pattern tai and qrow have laid out and show favoritism towards Ruby between the two sisters or that she'll do something else when she's introduced (versus Raven trying really hard to not show that she cares about Yang and as far as I know truly not being that concerned w/ Ruby)

it's tricky because on the one hand, narratively summer is inextricable from ruby's character and she is a much more central figure in ruby's character arc, with clear disparities in how present she is narratively (there is no yang equivalent of RLR2 for example). plus the lopsided "leave ruby alive" versus crickets for yang. but on the other, yang was parentified and her grief is complicated and to some degree suppressed by the reality that she had to be ruby's mom after summer left. plus she remembers summer as a fantastic mom. plus salem lets--not just yang, but all of yang's friends including oscar--go after yang identifies herself as summer's daughter, so while she's never said in so many words that yang is not to be killed, actions speak louder than words.

the only other factor we have to go on is what very, very little we've seen of who summer actually was, and how that compares to how she's remembered, and this i find very interesting because literally everybody who knew summer compares her to ruby, ruby's just like her, you sound just like your mother, summer would have pressed on, like you--and then. we get this fleeting glimpse of summer herself and she's so much like yang it hurts.

like the way she talks to raven. the snap in her tone. the resentment of raven for leaving. the shoulder check. that is exactly yang. even going rogue on a secret mission to do what she felt was right--is that not exactly the same sort of judgment call that yang made when she decided that blake was right and they should tell robyn the truth instead of trying to arrest her?

her loved ones had her on this pedestal, the heroic paragon, the best huntress ever, that's the comparison cast onto ruby when people tell her she's like summer. but the truth, the real person, was (at least in this small glimpse) quite a lot more like yang.

there is also the factor of ruby's silver eyes and summer's silver eyes, and the fact that we know nothing about summer's past. i think realistically she must have felt some special concern for ruby because of her silver eyes (whether it's true or not the inner circle believes that salem systematically picks them off and ozpin seems to actively recruit them when he can find them) and that this concern must have partly motivated her to go rogue (she doesn't want this life for ruby).

but at the same time i wonder if maybe that made it easier for summer to develop just a normal bond with yang (no baggage) versus ruby (all the baggage)--similar to how tai's unresolved and complicated feelings about raven color his perception of yang. like, i think if she hadn't left she might have tended to be more protective of ruby but closer to yang and more emotionally in tune with yang bc their basic personalities more similar

I’m glad someone is enjoying them and I'm not just being annoying! It’s been a slightly disorienting past few days with an epiphany of this magnitude just happening so suddenly, but entirely in a positive way.

This is hands down my fastest turnaround from suspecting I might be something to wholeheartedly embracing that thing. I’ve had many a realization about myself in my day, and typically there’s an angst period where I have to contend with What Does This Mean For My Life, but this time I can’t hear any of that over the rush of a relief so intense it almost took me out at the knees, and the only thing I can think is “thank god, thank god, thank god.”

You have to understand (this ask got me on a self-reflective train of thought, sorry), my entire adult life has had this tinge of panic that I didn’t have enough relationship experience and this urgently needed to be fixed. Accepted wisdom seems to be that building a successful relationship usually requires both a lot of trial-and-error and a lot of prior experience, and all three of my past relationships combined add up to less than a year (this was a sign btw), so I thought that if I didn’t start finding people I was willing to date (and vice versa) soon, at some unknown time in the future I would reach the point where it’s “too late” to find a long-term romantic partner (which would be the worst thing ever). It was horrible, it made me feel sick.

It actually might not be entirely accurate to say I had an immediate turnaround between suspecting I was aro and completely accepting it. It depends on how you look at it. For quite some time I’d been saying that yeah, sure, I’m probably on the aro spectrum somewhere. Maybe I’m demi or grayromantic, I can admit that (what I thought were) crushes are an incredibly rare occurrence for me. I think I found those identities less threatening because what I thought they meant was that I was still destined/obligated to end up in a romantic relationship, it would just take longer to find a partner (I know that ISN’T what they mean, but there’s no accounting for irrational anxiety). The grip of amatonormativity was so strong that deep down I really believed my life couldn’t be complete without a romantic partner, no matter how much I would have protested to the contrary.

But then I joined the J&W fandom, which is so heavily aro and/or ace, and I don’t know. Maybe seeing so many people in one place who are contented to not be in romantic relationships shook something loose in the back of my mind. So now when the idea that I might be 100% completely aro hit me, I was prepared to entertain it. Plus being in such a friendly, cozy fandom like this has made me feel like I have friends and a community for the first time in a while, and that’s helped soothe a lot of the loneliness I used to think I needed a romantic relationship to fix. A little part of my mind started saying “but if you’re in a relationship, you will have less time to analyze media with pals,” which was an extremely compelling argument, and it was getting louder and louder.

I didn’t realize how much tension I was holding in my body over this. This anxiety was such a heavy thing, but it was so settled and deeply rooted that it felt like it belonged there, and I can’t believe it’s gone, just like that, in a day. It must’ve been barely a week ago that, with feelings of the deepest loathing and resentment, I was thinking that I would probably have to open the dating apps again. I thought those feelings were just anxiety about meeting new people and impatience with the whole dating process, and now I understand that I had habitually been choking down overwhelming distress and dread toward the idea of performing romance and now just like flipping a switch I don’t have to do that anymore??? Do you PROMISE? I could cry, and I have.

Anyway, this is to say that you guys really helped, so thank you. And thanks to everyone who replied to my original questioning post about this, I really appreciated your thoughts.

Rose Quartz:

LOVE: - "She was the example in the intro post I'm so proud of her. <3 I saw this bracket and I was immediately like "rose quartz my favorite character rose quartz" and lo and behold I was Correct. "UwU space mom victim" is a little simplistic, she has the range. She haunts the narrative. She taught me how hiding yourself because you're afraid that people won't like who you really are leads to continued self-resentment and avoidance. Loving her teaches me that even if you did do something completely irredeemable, even if you did do something worthy of all that hate you hold for yourself, people can still see the entire you and decide to love you anyway. I think even the other diamonds are better-regarded than her, which... incredible pr stunt from them tbh. I don't dislike the other diamonds but come on they made no independent effort to change w/o Steven—there's literally no question in the "who's the better person" department. Of course the "who's the better character" department will always be incredibly subjective but she is so complex, and multi-facteted, she screws up so so much and yet somehow her biggest mistake of all might be her own self-degrading. "What an incredible power... the ability to grow up," said with such longing. Girl look at Jungle Moon, you really think you're still the same gem? You grew so much and you never saw it. She's so selfish and selfless and self-destructive all at the same time and it's captivating. I want to put her in a jar and study her like a bug." - "did she do a lot wrong? yes. do i think she had good intentions at heart but just majorly fucked it up? also yes" - "she has so much depth oh my god" - "look idk I just want to make sure she gets submitted to the bracket because you’re so right that she belongs here" - "Rose gets a lot of shit because we saw her character arc in reverse. isla myoui, your daughter was your light in the darkness. you originally didn’t want to have kids, but isla was honestly the reason you kept going. not only was she the cutest little thing, she was also such a good girl. she barely ever fussed or cried, and she was friendly with everyone, always having a smile on her cute little baby face. she took after mina mostly, it was clear as day that it was mina’s daughter, having so many similar features. the only thing of yours that she had was your light tannish skin that you had inherited from your own mother. 

even though mina had informed you she would be leaving, you didn't think it’d be right away. a part of you hoped that she wouldn’t leave at all, but much to your dismay when you came home later that day mina wasn't there. she left a note saying that isla was at her mom’s home and because she didn't want such negativity around her so she was leaving to korea immediately. you didn't know why you held out hope that she’d stay, mina didn't care, she didn't care that she was leaving her own daughter alone, she didn't care for anyone but herself. 

maybe it was because of how she left, the way she left leaving your own heart broken. no matter the way she treated you, you still loved the girl. she was your first everything, she was your first love, she was the woman you had a baby with. you loved mina with everything in you, you loved her for convincing you to keep the baby, for even deciding to date you. out of all the girls in your school she chose you. the feeling of sorrow never left you, you gave this girl everything, you gave her everything you had, years of your life were given to her. 

you felt resentment, why was she still having such a big effect on your life although she had left it? your sorrow and resentment lead you to join the entertainment industry, you werent gonna let her win, you werent gonna stay a nobody, someone who was just in her life for a split second. you were going to make it bigger than her, you were going to have her see your name everywhere. A constant reminder of who she left behind, who she cut out of her life as if they were nothing. 

you always loved singing, it wasn't something that was new to you. ever since a young age you had been told to pursue a career in singing. you never minded those comments though, dedicating your time to a career that might not even work out wasn't a chance you were willing to take. well of course that was before mina ditched you, you were not the same person you used to be. 

camila always had a passion for singing, whether or not you did it with her she was always set on becoming a singer. camila was very shy about her singing though, she would always say that when she came of age she’d gain confidence. due to how close you and camila were, you had been one of the lucky few to have been blessed to hear her voice. 

what better luck could you have? both camila and you had good singing voices, wouldn't it be even better if you two could become singers together? 

after a lot of convincing, camila was finally on board, the both of you would show up on America's Got Talent. 

you were nervous, you didn't think you had ever been this nervous about something before. this was the moment your life would change for either the better or worse, you and camila were currently backstage waiting for your turn to go up and audition.

you saw camila's face when she first heard the voice of the girl who had just gone on, she looked amazed at the fact that someone could sing so well, whoever this girl was, was definitely a competitor. when the girl who you saw had green eyes walked out of the booth you could see camilas jaw physically drop, she was gorgeous. you nudged camila on the shoulder and told her to approach the girl with green eyes. her face reddened as she shook her head no, not caring that she said no you dragged her towards the girl anyways. 

“hi! I'm y/n and this is my friend camila, we heard you from the booth and you were like crazy good.” you said to the girl as you approached her with camila by your side. 

a smile grew on her face as she processed the compliment you had just given her “thanks! my name’s lauren!” she said happily as she folded her arms behind her back.

“i- uh- i like your shirt..” camila said her face red 

“thanks!” she replied seemingly happy at all the compliments she was receiving.

in response to what lauren had said camila just nodded her head aggressively while smiling which took you by shock. you had never seen camila have this kind of behavior with anyone, where had the confident camila gone?

“camila and y/n, it’s now your time to shine!” one of the workers said as you two were ushered to the stage

you and camila had decided to do a duet cover of crazy in love, you both practiced it day and night and now it was time to sing in front of everyone. you were nervous but you knew that you had to give it your all. you pushed through your worries and somehow managed to calm yourself down before you started singing. 

you couldn't have imagined the audition going any better than it had, you two performed flawlessly and the simon cowell golden buzzered you two. both you and camila burst into tears at the gold confetti surrounding the two of you as you hugged each other. while mina was probably still training, you were now on your way to winning the show. 

as the show progressed you and camila were put into a group with lauren, dinah, normani, and ally. you two were unfamiliar to the girls (discluding lauren) but it took no time for all six of you to get close.

when sent to bootcamp camila shared a room with lauren and you with dinah. you obviously wanted to be with camila but you also wanted her to get closer to her crush so you accepted the room settings. when all six of you got close enough you revealed the information of you having a daughter to them, you had them all meet her and they absolutely adored her. 

the time you spent on the show was mainly away from your daughter, she had been at your parents house, your mom finally seeming to have interest in the baby. although she had left, mina was still sending you pocket money and paying the rent of your apartment. when you received the first deposit into your bank account from her you were very surprised. you thought you would have to find a job to support your child and yourself but thankfully mina still had a heart and didn't want to see her child and you homeless. 

after mina moved to korea her parents moved back to japan because there was no longer a reason they saw to stay in the u.s. although you hated what mina had done to you, you could never find it in you to dislike her parents, they always treated you like their own, and with utmost kindness.

you liked to tell yourself that mina wasn't all that bad, she was sending you a large sum of money for both you and your child along with paying your rent. she might not have been the best but maybe you should've been more considerate, maybe you should’ve supported her and her choice of becoming an idol.

as time passed by your feelings of resentment were replaced with guilt, maybe it was you who had caused this all. you always knew about her dream of being an idol, maybe you had been too harsh. If she told you not to pursue your dream you’d be upset too, you felt terrible about what  you had said and done to her. 

honestly, throughout the whole 3 months she was gone you just wanted her back, you didn't think you could ever let go of her. even if she came back just to sit on her ass all day and play minecraft, you still wanted her back. you loved her and all her flaws, her flaws are what made her her. 

the girls were your main support, throughout everything, you always knew you had six girls to lean on and talk to. you honestly felt so loved by them all, they didn't only love you but also your daughter. Your daughter was your everything, and the fact that they accepted you as a teen mom was a dream come true. 

you didn't know what you’d do if you hadn't joined the show, it was honestly the second best decision you had made, in a way it made you thankful that mina had left.

HOTD 2X03 Review/Thoughts.

Ok so I am a little late with this review, honestly having thought the episode over I don't have as much to say about it this week. I do feel like it was quite a slow episode, honestly I feel like this whole season has started out kind of slow and drawn out. But anyway there are some parts and points I want to talk about, so as I always say I have not read the books so my opinions are based solely on the show, these are my own thoughts and opinions and there are spoilers.

The opening battle was interesting, it seems like there's a lot of bad blood between the brackens and the blackwoods. I also get that they are a foil for the targaryens' civil war and this whole sin begets sin and soon no one remembers why wars and feuds are started etc. Here's my complaint though. Like I said I understand what the writers are trying to say here, its a running theme not just in this episode but throughout the whole series, a good ruler seeks peace and unity in the realm, seeking revenge and acting impulsively is bad ya di da. I understand that they are trying to show Rhaenyra as a good queen because she is being reserved and trying for peace instead of war, but at this point they've been sprouting out this message for a season and a half and its starting to feel like being preached too and its getting boring, like we are half way through this season, I want to be entertained, show me the dragon fights. I agree with the whole messaging about always trying your best to seek peace but I feel like we are way past that point now.

On that subject Rhaenyra this episode, I was not behind some of the choices she made, yet there were still some choices I thought were good. I think her decision to send her younger sons away to a safe place is a good idea, however I don't know that I would send them all to the same place. This might sound a bit cold and strategic of me but I would think her best strategy would be not to put all her eggs in one basket, not to send all of her heirs to the same place. If it were me I'd send Rhaena and Joffrey to say driftmark and then Viserys and Aegon either to the Vale or to Pentos. But anyway, I do think that Rhaenyra showed she has alot of trust in Rhaena, she is entrusting her not just with her own sons but also with the dragon eggs, as she said she is entrusting Rhaena with their future, not just the continuation of Rhaenyra's line with her sons, but also with the hope of more dragons in the future. I always thought that maybe Rhaena would claim a dragon like her mother did, but now that she has those eggs, I am wondering if she will actually hatch one of them. Rhaenyra's strategy here makes alot of sense, Rhaena is older and therefore is in a better position to protect the eggs and care for the younger heirs, also as she said if things go badly for Rhaenyra and the rest of team black, like if team green send more assassins etc, then rhaena, the boys and the young dragons/eggs are the back up plan, they really do represent hope for the future.

All of this being said I do also understand why Rhaena was feeling upset that she was being sent away and to the place where her own mother died of all places. I can understand how when her whole family are in danger and she just wants to feel useful she would see being sent off with the younger children as Rhaenyra seeing her as a nursemaid, when really Rhaenyra does value Rhaena and is entrusting her with some of the most precious things she has. Rhaena has long struggled with her self worth due to her not having a dragon like her sister and I think you can see that coming through in this episode, I don't think Rhaena really understood how much value and trust Rhaenyra was truly putting in her until Rhaenyra presented her with those eggs. I was also glad that although we saw some of that resentment Rhaena feels towards her sister, she still didn't hold it against Baela and did hug her goodbye.

Speaking of hugs goodbye, they are really killing me with these scenes between the blacks where they are hugging and comforting each other, in this episode not only did they get me with Rhaena and Baela's hug but also with Rhaenyra kissing her boys goodbye and Jace hugging Joffrey goodbye, its just such wholesome, sweet scenes, that also have that twinge of sadness to them.

Over on the green side however, things are in a shambles. That scene where you've got cole walking to the council room and as he's walking past Kings' Guards they are all slouching and are all relaxed and not at attention, I just, the heir was just assassinated within the walls of his own home, in his own bed, and instead of being hypervigilant like you would expect these guys are literally just laying about the place, totally relaxed. Then there was the scene where the guards are convincing Aegon to go to the brothel as a squire needs bedding and Aegon points out that they a sworn to chastity and they all just laugh. I think it really shows how Aegon's Kings guard has devolved into something of a sham, I mean even their commander is breaking his oath.

Which brings me to Cole. It seems like there is no some negative tension between him and Alicent, she clearly is'nt happy with the decisions he's been making of late, even the decision in this episode to march to the riverlands. Also does anyone else feel like Alicent specifically asked her brother Gwaine, was that his name, to go with criston so that he could keep an eye on him. I got kind of babysitter vibes in that scene between the three of them. Gwaine however does seem like he's a little bit of an arrogant fool, the whole getting themselves exposed to Baela and Moondancer, all because he wanted a comfortable place to sleep.

Also I loved the look of Moondance and that whole scene of Baela like dive bombing Cole and his men and chasing them into the trees. It was such a good scene and looked great, I will admit a part of me was really hoping Baela would just light those trees up but I understand that she was given orders by Rhaenyra not to engage. I also did find that scene where Baela admitted that she didn't stay up high and said you said not to engage and I technically didn't, really funny. I was definitely getting some Daemon vibes from her in that moment I think she's got a little of his roguish traits.

One thing that this episode confirmed to me is that despite how much people love to go on, even at times in the show itself, that Luke and Jace bullied Aemond, that true antagonist was always Aegon. Like he encouraged his nephews to bully Aemond when they were all children and from Alicent's reaction to the pig prank it seems like Aegon often instigated bullying towards Aemond and was never punished for it, Alicent literally tells him, you can bully him at home but don't do it in public. Yet here we are when they are both adults and Aegon is still bullying Aemond. That scene in the brothel made me so uncomfortable, the way Aegon was just publicly humiliating Aemond, whilst he's naked and vulnerable, although Aemond does play it off like he doesn't care. But I would be careful if I was Aegon. We saw the way Aemond reacted to Lucerys who Aemond felt humiliated him in the past. Luke ended up dead and with the way Aemond was prattling on about how he would make a better king than Aegon in season 1, well I wouldn't be surprised if now that he's pissed off at Aegon for bullying him he decides to orchestrate some kind of accident for Aegon so he get his revenge plus take the throne, like I just think Aegon should be really careful when walking at the top of stairs alone because he might find himself taking an unfortunate tumble.

Sticking with the brothel scene, we also saw that guy, who was looking at the rat catchers that had been hung last episode, again. Surprisingly it seems he is apparently the bastard brother of Viserys and Daemon which I think is really interesting, he called himself a dragonseed so I am thinking he's going to be important in the story, with him comparing himself to Jace as well I do wonder if at some point this guy will claim and ride a dragon. I could see Rhaenyra allowing bastards who have dragons blood to claim dragons in order to boost her forces. Them being bastards I don't think would bother Rhaenyra, she would see the strategic value of them. I am less sure on whether the green side would recruit bastards to their side as they have very negative views towards bastards and I think they would see it as sullying their house almost, like they might have this arrogance of only true targaryens can ride dragons, considering the way Alicent said she was surprised Jace, Luke and Joffrey's eggs even hatched. But either way I am interested to see what they do with this new character.

We also met some new characters at Harrenhall this episode. Complete side note here, but one thing I do think is funny is that every episode so far there has been a sequence of one or more characters sneaking through dark hallways. In ep 1 it was blood and cheese, ep 2 Arryk and in ep 3 its Daemon. But anyway there was something creepy going on in Harrenhall as Daemon seemed to be chasing ghosts then came across some kind of vision, I guess, of young rhaenyra sewing on Jaehaerys' head. I thought this scene was really interesting especially rhaenyra's line, always coming and going aren't you, and I'm left to clean up the mess. With the way Daemon's eyes teared up it was clear that Daemon was feeling a certain amount of guilt for what happened, but more so it seems he feels alot of regret and guilt in general, this scene showed him in a very vulnerable light. I think it shows that he does feel guilty for the brothel scene with young rhaenyra in 1x04, for abandoning her in 1x05 and leaving for essos, possibly even for stealing the egg and going to dragonstone, leaving Viserys in his time of grief as Rhaenyra put it, but he also left Rhaenyra in her time of grief. And then of course it seems like from the way Jaehaerys' face flashed before him that he also feels alot of guilt over causing the death of a child and in turn weaking Rhaenyra's claim and making things more difficult and messy for her. It's just interesting seeing that guilt within him as he usually keeps things close to his chest. I do wonder if that girl with the dark hair had something to do with the vision he saw, she was giving me witchy vibes and her saying Daemon will die there was super creepy and now I am worried for Daemon.

What was interesting is throughout the episodes they've brought up Aegon the conqeror a few times. In this episode we see Aegon wearing his armour, he also wears the conqueror's crown and I think he even carries his sword. The greens are doing this as a way of trying to add legitimacy to Aegon's claim and trying to draw parallels between them and show Aegon II as a strong and great leader. However to me it looked like the armour and the crown were way too big for Aegon giving this impressions of a young boy trying to fill boots that are too big for him. But also they've had two characters now point out that the conqueror actually used violent and brutal measures to win the crown. Cregan in ep 1 points out that his ancestor knelt to the Conqueror because he threatened the realm with his dragons. In this episode Lord strong points out that Harrenhall is in such a state of disrepair because the conqueror burnt it with dragon fire to the point that the stones themselves melted, and an entire house was wiped out. I feel like this is all to hint that Aegon ii himself will also use such brutal methods.

Ok lets talk about that last scene with Rhaenyra sneaking to the sept so that she could talk to Alicent. Unpopular opinion maybe, but this whole scene/scenario was so stupid. Like there was no logical thinking behind this at all. And here is why I think it was stupid, first off is the obvious risked to Rhaenyra, she's the queen, and if she has gotten caught it would very very likely have cost her life, which goes without saying would have been a disaster. The other reason why it was so stupid is because its already been established that Alicent as little to no control over the men who are making the decisions and acting rashly. So even if it went well and Alicent agreed that peace must prevail, what the hell does anyone think she is going to do about it? Like what she was just going to go to Aegon and go hey honey I know you son has been killed, and I know I told you that your dad actually wanted you on the throne, and I know I pretty much forced you to be king against your will and I know that now that you've had a taste of the power you've found you really like it but do you think we could just try for peace instead, because I've spoken to Rhaenyra and actually it turns out this whole thing was a bit of a oopsy on my part, one too many Aegon's am I right, so yeah if you could just make nice with your sister now instead, even though I spent years drilling it into you that Rhaenyra is a threat to your life, that would be great thanks hun. Come on be for real, there was never going to be anything Alicent could do to prevent this war, even before the mix up with Viserys saying Aegon on his death bed, the other members of the green council were plotting to usurp the throne. For me the scene just felt pointless because it is obvious before Rhaenyra even leaves dragonstone that there is nothing Alicent can do to help get peace between the two side, it just felt like the only reason they added that scene was so that Alicent could realise she made a mistake and that Viserys didn't change his mind after all, which considering that mistake in itself was pointless as there were already plans to go ahead with the usurpation just made the scene even more pointless. Even when it came to the scene where Rhaenys is convincing Rhaenyra to talk to Alicent, the writers contradict themselves because one moment you've got Rhaenys saying there could still be a way to avoid the war go talk to Alicent and maybe she can help bring peace, then when Rhaenyra points out that Alicent was complicit in the usurpation, (she wasn't there were moment when she was spearheading the entire thing, it was her that hunted Aegon down and her that decided to put the conqueror's crown on him etc, she wasn't complicit she was active in it), Rhaenys then turns around and pretty much says Alicent has no control over the men and their decisions, so like what would make either Rhaenys or Rhaenyra think Alicent has any power to convince the men that peace is the best option now. I just didn't vibe with that whole scene at all, it just made Rhaenyra look a bit foolish for unnecessarily risking herself. Also it came off more comedic than I think it was supposed to, between Alicent's wtf facial expressions and Rhaenyra's I've begun badly line.

I know this review has been a bit more negative than the others, but honestly I think I am just getting more frustrated with each episode that passes because it doesn't feel like the characters are really doing anything and instead the narrative just keeps going round in circles, war is bad, peace is good, revenge is bad, acting impulsively is bad, acting reserved is good, this civil war was terrible and sucked for everyone, war is bad, revenge is bad, seeking peace is good and around and around we go and at this point I'm just like I was told this show was about the war between dragons so can we get to that point please because so far all that has happened is a couple of botched assassination attempts and alot of Rhaenyra being told to do something and alot of Aegon being told not to do something and in the end nobody actually doing anything.

Anyway I am hoping that with next episode being the mid season point we will get a bit more action and excitement because I really do think the season needs something,

What do you think about Asclepius/Nico and malcolm/nico?

hmm. this is kinda hard to say.

With Malcolm, tbh I... don't have any special impression of him in canon LOL. A side character, yes he is. It doesn't change much in fanfic either, ngl. I guess it's because Malcolm is less likely to pop up in Nico-centric fanfics and I make a point of not reading Percabeth, on principle. It's different from Michael Yew or Lee Fletcher, who are Will's brothers and thus have more chances to appear.

With that being said, my image of Malcolm Pace is actually quite a remarkable thing. I tend to think of him as more mature than his age, hence a somewhat cold, stoic repertoire (i honestly don't know why...). And I can't tell if this is just me or something I once read, but I always think Malcolm would be compared a lot to Annabeth - his talented, heroic leader of a sister, which results in a bit of bitterness and a surpassing urge to prove himself.

Integrating him with Nico though, then I must be better than everyone might be a fascinating contrast/ parallel to Nico. Why, you ask? Because as far as my takes on Nico go, he is a selfless but also resentful little thing, who thinks he himself is nothing good so he tries to be good anyway. It might be a good mix with Malcolm's envy of a motto.

It wouldn't be too far off to picture a scenario in which Nico starts talking back to Malcolm for trying too hard to idk, govern everything? Athena's children's fatal flaw is hubris, yeah? Nico is a self-deprecating thing, with a poisonous mouth to boost. He is hard to intimidate and quick to burst. If Nico can sass Hades to battle, can you imagine how he'd throw Malcolm's hubris back to his face?

In another scenario, however, I would love to indulge in Malcolm's calmness and maturity. Idk I just think a calm and hard-to-shake one might be good for Nico? Since the little shit is too unstable already? Imma be honest: I always have a bias for those with good emotional regulation.

And frankly? It would absolutely be funny when people think Nico has a crush on Annabeth and then realizes it's her sister ajshdajksdhak.

As for Asclepius, I suppose my impression remains the same with Solangelo, I guess? Since, you know, it's kinda the same dynamic? Healer x Death Eater?

The most noticeable difference I'd say is that Asclepius is, well, dead LMAO. Which is a sign for fun when it comes to Nico in my books. Well he's the son of Hades. He has the right to get an immortal/ghost boyfriend. I believe nothing else.

What got my attention is that Asclepius is famous for bringing people back to death. Now, I headcanon Nico as a faithful believer in death and decay and the like, so I think it should be intriguing to picture them trying to understand each other and then growing closer as a result. As a nature-defying healer and the young lord of the dead, that is.

Because as much as I like Nico as Underworld's favorite child, I do think he values life, so he wouldn't... you know, fault Asclepius for it. Likewise, Asclepius doesn't seem to hate death as it is. A healer, more than anyone, understands its weight. They're both troubled by the other's actions however, and that right there spells good interactions too me. And I'm all for parallels and people from two worlds.

In the fortunate event that you're saying Asclepius as in a ghost (without the subsequent godhood), then I'm quite interested in picturing him as Nico's health assistant instead. In my Nico healing in the Underworld AU, yeah? It sounds kinda fitting to me. Now I'm invested LOL (and no, I don't care about dependence. Hell I'd make Nico depend on Asclepius if it has to come to it. I'm an unapologetic creator)

The meet-the-parent would probably funny tho bc well. Hades was the indirect reason for Asclepius' death. That alone right there is comedy material.

Just imagine Hades, who has been pleasantly under the impression that his son has gotten himself a nice one in their own House, has his eyes bugged out as Nico warily pulls Asclepius through the door. adjkhasdkjashk

Nico being like: "Don't you dare kill my boyfriend again, dad" pls I'M WHEEZING

And Apollo. Omg Apollo. The poor guy watched his son die, took revenge for it, suffered because of said revenge, and now has to sit at the same table with the one who contributed to that death as a father-in-law IM---ASHDSJKAHDK.

I don't think he would be against them together, per se, I just think there would be a lot of materials to work on.
