hi hi! im looking for an if, but the only thing i remember is that the mc has their ring finger cut off. from what i can vaguely recall, it's seen as something shameful as it is only done to criminals. there's one scene where the mc meets a group of other criminals and kind of bonds over this, but an ro disapproves of this bonding.

also i think the mc is an exile? they might have been part of a royal family. and it's definitely not the exile by pheo!

Just finished reading I, The Forgotten One by John Louis and, my god, it's one of the best interactive novels I've ever read. Medieval fantasy story about the horrors of war and struggling with ptsd and severe depression.

The writing is excellent -- immaculate tension that pays off in the end, flawless dialogue, and an attention to detail that really brought everything to life. There's so much to praise here. The periodic vignettes were a brilliant touch. And for me personally, the depiction of masculine affection between closeted men (in the gay romance subplot you can pursue with Sir Obren) resonated with me so hard.

The gameplay is just as good, even tho it takes a back seat to the story. It hit that sweet spot between clarity and challenge. I always really appreciate when the choices are more complex than just "pick the choice that best represents your highest stat."

Not me playing I the forgotten one for 5 hours straight

Love that game! After a while you can pretty much rush it though, but the difference between playing male and female and queer MCs is great!

Also, melting in that heat, made me really feel like I was in the jungles... just without war, bugs and still all of my fingers.

Okay my paranoia is under control again, but uh I honestly have a bit too many in terms of other media so ill stick to the games that made me say fuck it ill make one myself.

But by far the biggest contributors to making me want to write my own story was Enderal, Sword of Rhivenia, and A Mage Reborn, and I, The Forgotten One at the time!

Sword of Rhivenia just hit the right spots for me and I can see the potential it had. I really enjoyed it back when it was a WIP!!!

A Mage Reborn does angst and drama so well, it really made me care about the characters.

I, The Forgotten One was simply different from the other titles. It dealt with heavy subjects in a way other IFs didnt at the time.

As for Enderal...I've you never played Enderal, you have to fucking play it. Do not look up reviews, GO IN BLIND!!!!

Just take my fucking word for it and know that it has 100% my stamp of approval!! Enderal really helped me in crafting a more realistic world where characters felt more real with real flaws. That is all I will say!
