Haikaveh where kaveh is pregnant and when they found out about it he freaks out bc he read stories online where husbands wouldn't like the wives as much after postpartum takes over.

For days after the discovery Kaveh wouldn't eat or sleep as much, so far as to not talk to Haitham as much in fear of provoking anything that'll make Haitham "hate" him even more after the delivery

"Why aren't you eating?"

"Oh I'm just... not that hungry. I ate lunch earlier."

"But we always have lunch together??"

"Well something came up and I gotta change my schedule a bit. Sorry about that."

He'll just lie and lie and keeps on lying.

Kaveh isn't the type to wish anything bad happening on his pregnancy period, but he does severely dread the day of delivery. He'd get anxious and nervous (even more than he usually is) around Haitham and is always thinking about his next lie.

He loves the idea of motherhood. He loves the idea of having a child to take care of. He loves the idea of a happy family because that was something he didn't get as a child and is now more than willing to do anything to give it to his child.

What he doesn't like is the fear of Haitham leaving him if he's not good enough to satisfy his needs. The fear where he'll lose his worth as someone pretty and just end up as someone thats already been "used" and is not "perfect" anymore.

Haitham gets wind of what's going on and approaches him one day.

"Sweetheart."

"Yes?"

"Whats wrong with you?"

"What do you mean?"

"Dont play dumb with me, sunshine. Tell me what's going on."

And then Kaveh will freak out, thinking Haitham already knows about the postpartum fear thing and start crying and begging for Alhaitham to not leave him. He'll do anything, he'll be a good wife and stay with the kids and do all the housechores and stay in shape and-

A simple kiss shut him about for good.

"You don't ever need to be sorry about how you look like after bearing my children."

"But.. I've read stories... and surveys- about how husbands are more displeased with their wives' body image after postpartum-"

"You think I care how you look like?"

Probably not the best thing to say (he should've rephrased it better) as Kaveh starts to tear up again.

"You... you don't think I'm taking care of myself well enough..?"

"No, it's not that. Kaveh, sunshine. I fell in love with you because of your physical image. That was only one of the reasons why."

"You... did not?"

"You thought I would be like some of those freaks that ogles you shamelessly on the side of the road? Of course not."

"But.. you always said that it's absolutely important for me to keep being healthy-"

"Sunshine, healthy does not mean body image. Healthy means you are happy with yourself. Which you are mostly aren't. That's why I told you to be healthier."

Kaveh wells up in tears again as he realizes what Haitham is saying. He kisses Kaveh's forehead and rubs his belly.

"This baby is going to make us a family. Why would I care about how you're going to look like?"

(Again, probably should've rephrased it better)

"Everything will be a marker of your battles. I'd love every stretch mark it'll create. All the cellulites that you worry so much about will be mine to behold." Another kiss to the forehead, "Kaveh, please understand. I love you for just the way you are."

"I did not fall in love with someone who obsesses with their beauty. I fell in love with the Light of Kshahrewar, the person who brights up my day with just a smile. The person who makes me fall in love all over again when they laugh."

"So please. Don't be afraid of our children. I promise that I'll love you no matter how you look"

Kaveh sniffs, "E-even if I were a fungi?"

Haitham sighes and smiles, "You'd be my favorite fungi ever."

In a recent article, Rabbi Prof. Dov Fischer beautifully communicates his disgust with the recent Biden Administration’s 60-page paper supporting three different definitions of anti-Semitism. Fischer and other Jewish organizations prefer the one definition put forward by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) rather than having that one plus two others listed as acceptable to the USA; however, Fischer also expresses some reservations even about the acceptable one.

Rabbi Fischer has a vigorous style which I always enjoy reading. However, whether there is one definition or multiple definitions of anti-Semitism is a bit beside the point. We really do not need a definition of anti-Semitism to know what it is. For example, even if certain countries are willing to have some commercial or scientific dealings with Israel or with certain Jewish businessmen or with Jared Kushner, they might still be very much anti-Semitic! If they are more greedy than they are anti-Semitic that still does not mean they are not anti-Semitic. If we see a child mistreated by a sexual pervert, we do not need to check the definition of “perversion” before intervening.

To me, anti-Semitism is part of Western consciousness as well as Muslim consciousness. Whatever the socio-religious culture, in most cases, it is latent but in some persons it is active. Throughout the Muslim world it is largely active, but then there are various degrees of active. The number of Muslims who would commit or even plan a terrorist attack on Israel, while larger than in Western non-Islamic societies, is smaller than the much larger number that would be comfortable expressing and/or nodding silent agreement to extremely hateful and poisonous statements about Jews and Israelis.

The very desire to seek a definition or definitions for anti-Semitism is another one of many naive bourgeois notions that with a “definition” one is thereby combatting or limiting anti-Semitism. Anti-Semitism is first and foremost a heart problem, a consciousness problem, a spiritual problem, and an historical problem. Control over language (definitions) lends itself to the illusion of control over self, spirit, and mind.

A heart problem: “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7). As Jews, we should be asking people throughout the world to love and appreciate the Jewish people. A good friend of mine periodically sends me and others information about the latest developments and inventions in medical science and other areas of science that are taking place in Israel. These are baruchas not only for Israel but eventually will redound to the benefit of every human being in the world. Even members of the PLO and Hamas seek medical care in Israel -- they do not fly off to Muslim countries or even to Europe to seek relief from pain and/or death. While it is very good to broker deals that increase economic relations and travel relations between Israel and traditional enemies of Israel, a missing message in all this is a public expression of the need for anti-Semitic quislings as well as outright enemies of Israel and/or the Jewish people to have love and respect for the Jewish people.

Something came up on the edge of my peripheral vision, and just as it did, the phone cut off.

I turned to see a package on my desk, a simple brown parcel tied with twine. My fingers hovered over the string, as if it would burn me at the touch -- you never knew with the way these beings worked. Finally, after what felt like eternity, I loosened the twine and let the paper unfurl.

Inside was a book bound in a strange leather, the cover decorated with intricate runes and symbols embedded in silver leaf. I was careful not to touch it or look into it, to be safe. The silver leaf in the center also had some type of inscription. The lexicon was indecipherable, it rearranged the symbols every time I glanced at it.

Next to it was another book. I guess this being really likes their books. This one, however, was bound in a more natural-looking leather, with a leather band wrapped around it to hold it tightly closed. On the cover, in more silver leaf (and more importantly in a human language), it read, "Scientific Logs of." Whoever owned it, their name had been furiously scratched with some sort of sharp object.

Between the book and the log was... A gift card to Dave & Busters. Even if it wasn't actually a gift card to Dave & Busters, what did it do? What could I use this for? I didn't have access to the human world anymore, so even if I wanted to, I couldn't spend this!

Finally, at the center of it all was a small note. Thankfully, it was also written in a human language, and it said what each of these items was: the book was an old spellbook of the being's, one that they said they had kept for quite some time and "savored the sweetness of as [they] indulged in its recreation of [their] capabilities"; the journal was the science log of "one of the greatest alchemists of the world [they] knew best;" and the gift card was "a Gift from the Modern Civilization of Humanity, from the Being who Sees All. Take the greatest care of it."

I am now the proud owner of a grimoire, a science log, and a really suspicious-looking Dave & Busters gift card.
