had to compromise on ruarc's design to make this work- i gave up on horns and all-black feathers because of limited supplies and money.

but i think that makes this a bit more interesting than what i would've made otherwise. a bit less dragon-y and more lizardlike, which suits the character's personality, honestly.

probably going to ditch the corset once i find a suitable replacement like a nice belt. the corset used to work well enough, but i transed my gender ftm and so did ruarc. i don't really mind crossdressing for cosplay but eh whlsdjflk

all in all i'd say i put maybe 20 hours of work into this? the clothes were really easy to put together. most of the work went into modifying the head and then slapping all those feathers on it.

Cardigan S (Pattern | Yarn | Thread)

I have officially cast on for this cardigan! Sleeve #1 (aka Swatch #3). The OG swatch I used size US 8 needles for both the pattern and the ribbing which is exactly what the pattern states but honestly I think my ribbing looks like dogwater. For Sleeve #1 I swapped to a US 6 for the ribbing and then on the increase row swapped back to US 8. The pattern also has you go directly from ribbing into pattern rows but I'm inserting a wrong side stockinette row for that increase/needle size up and we'll see how it looks.

My pocket swatch/Swatch #2/the one mostly covered up by my hand gave both good and bad news. In good news, 26 stitches is wide enough both for my hand and more importantly my cellphone. In bad news, it wants the pockets to only be five inches tall, and that is NOT enough for either my hand or my cellphone. Easy fix esp considering I plan on completely ignoring every single direction on how to make the pockets Except for the actual stitch count. More on that once I get the Second (and hopefully last) yarn I ordered for pockets.

I didn't realize but because of this shiny thread I'm going to have to knit both sleeves and the two front pieces one at a time.... Taking lots of notes for how many rows I do things in to hopefully match them well enough.

Okay so there's this offer for younger kids at my school that they're being watched the afternoon too and can do their homework and stuff, and the three women running that are actual gems and also you bet your ass they know you whether you're way too old for that or not, right?

Well, one of them approached me today randomly, like completely out of the blue. She just. had a favourite jacket that doesn't fit her anymore and since it's a favourite, she wanted someone she knows to have it and apparently thought of me. Now, the jacket is a tiny bit too big and it's ver, sturdy and kiiiinda military style and looks sick as fuck and that's amazing and in conclusion i love that woman.

But also, my brain apparently saw the jacket and went "that's soooo marquis de carabas", and you know what, my brain's right, it does look a bit similar to how i always picture his coat. Therefore I'll be adding a shitton of pockets inside :D

in conclusion, i got a fantastic jacket today, kinda-but-not-really? teachers are the most amazing people on earth and i need to learn how to properly sew with a machine and all RIGHT THIS SECOND
