guy who vastly underestimated how much of a pain in the ass it would be to sew a costume that needs 12 yards of bias tape

#garak is taking forever oh my god...... it's like day 9 of spending all day working on it #I'm like sooooo close though. I just need to attach the belt and hand sew the sleeves and draw the pattern on the fabric #I convinced myself to start this project by deluding myself into thinking it would only take a few days #I've NEVER put this much effort into a project before I only ever half-ass things and/or give up in the middle #oughhh and I still have to make his prosthetics. and finish the spunnysuit. and the ka'athyra #I think. the kira cosplay is probably not going to happen for stlv this year. Cardigan S (Pattern | Yarn | Thread)

I have officially cast on for this cardigan! Sleeve #1 (aka Swatch #3). The OG swatch I used size US 8 needles for both the pattern and the ribbing which is exactly what the pattern states but honestly I think my ribbing looks like dogwater. For Sleeve #1 I swapped to a US 6 for the ribbing and then on the increase row swapped back to US 8. The pattern also has you go directly from ribbing into pattern rows but I'm inserting a wrong side stockinette row for that increase/needle size up and we'll see how it looks.

My pocket swatch/Swatch #2/the one mostly covered up by my hand gave both good and bad news. In good news, 26 stitches is wide enough both for my hand and more importantly my cellphone. In bad news, it wants the pockets to only be five inches tall, and that is NOT enough for either my hand or my cellphone. Easy fix esp considering I plan on completely ignoring every single direction on how to make the pockets Except for the actual stitch count. More on that once I get the Second (and hopefully last) yarn I ordered for pockets.

I didn't realize but because of this shiny thread I'm going to have to knit both sleeves and the two front pieces one at a time.... Taking lots of notes for how many rows I do things in to hopefully match them well enough.

My mandatory two weeks off comes to an end today and I am horrifyingly and tragically back in the office tomorrow, but I also just bought a digital sewing pattern so I'm looking forward to making use of the good quality office printers to print it all out. Seeing the silver lining is a vital life skill and baby I am an expert at it

#ramblings of a bystander #the pattern itself is 51 A4 pages asdfghjkl #but to be fair some of those will be basically blank #either cause they have some part of the pattern for a different size (which i can toggle off for print)#or just generally because that's how the conversion to A4 from A0 went. alas I don't have cheap access to paper or printer that large #and there's 19 pages of instructions which.... well sure i can print those off too why not. helpful not to have to pause to read a screen #and can highlight and make notes #but with 70 pages total to print off..... i'm gonna space it out a bit. just a couple of pages per day...#not in a rush to actually start sewing since I'd still need to get the fabric and lining and other bits and bobs #i've got other things i can work on in the meantime. but we are initialising!!!#soon enough i will be crying in frustration at sewing the sleeves!!!
