“Your girl’s here,” Mick says, tilting his head towards the entrance, and Rio turns in time to see the door pushed open and Elizabeth struggle backwards through it, dragging that Frankenstein-monster of a stroller in behind her, Kenny hanging off the edge of her dress, still suckin’ on that pacifier. Rio huffs, glancing back at Mick even as he starts to move.

“Not my girl,” he replies before he gets too far, and Mick snorts on a laugh as Rio strides towards them, scooping up a now-reaching-for-him Kenny (and shit, when did he start doing that?) on his way. He tosses the kid over his shoulder before gently nudging Beth out of the way and grabbing the handle of the stroller, lifting it up over the doorjamb and carting in the rest of her kids.

“You know this ain’t normal, right?” he tells her when Elizabeth turns back towards him, fumbling with her enormous purse in the process to pull out her scarf, and he finds himself swallowing when she blinks up at him, her eyes too blue in the bright morning light. She gives him a briefly confused look, and he exhales, adds: “Bringin’ your kids to a bar.”

“It’s 10 – you don’t open for another hour,” she says with a shrug, wandering ahead to slide into the booth he’s starting to think of as hers, and that ain’t right either. “And I’ve got to feed Jane before I meet with the lawyers.”

With that, she wraps the scarf over her neck and fiddles beneath it, hand working as she undoes the top of her dress, and Rio’s suddenly very aware that she’s pulling her breast out of her nursing bra, and just - - fuck. His ears go pink, his grip tightening in the back of Kenny’s shirt over his shoulder, and vaguely he’s aware of Mick laughing somewhere behind him.

“Can you get her?” Elizabeth asks, a damp spot already forming on the scarf, and right, Rio thinks, dropping Kenny to the floor and starting around the stroller to get Jane.
