smol Cal and his favorite people (the clone here is that clone who stood outside of his room in the cut scene. As much as i love the "high five" clone, this clone is my fave cos he knows Cal's training schedule and talked about a rematch w him later on, which makes it feel like he's very close to Cal compare to other clones or the clone commander)

WoW Q and A

Elaborate on the Chains of Domination cinematic: Story of Anduin and Sylvanas/relationship with the jailer is foundational to Shadowlands. Anduin was dominated. Jailer needed someone like Anduin to be able to walk into Bastion and claim the key. Brief moment of Anduin gaining control in cinematic, so still in there. Chains of Domination will explain more.

When he (Anduin) walks past Uther, did Uther know what was happening or did he feel bad? Couple things going on. His hand touches his wound, made by a weapon of the maw. Uther recognized on some level that power, as well as stirring memories seeing this blonde, kingly figure. Confrontation with Sylvanas in the raid one of the biggest moments in WoW.

Moving from classic to BC while keeping a copy. Whats it going to look like for gold, items/banks. Am I going to see differences or is it two separate entities for all time? Logging in at pre patch will snap a copy of your character. There will be an option to move onto BC classic, or stay in vanilla classic. Can pay a fee and activate “clone” to put them on BC classic if you choose to stay Vanilla. Beta is around the corner. 

How will high population  numbers be handled in TBC classic? How will you handle bottlenecks, sharding, dailies etc. Recognize high population, want to make sure experience is enjoyable. Optimization improvements to help stabilize servers. Experience of rare material and multiple people going is part of the game. Willing to make targeted changes if there is particular problems. 

 Will there be more race/class combinations? Player agency and choice is major theme. Customization key, but also want to reinforce differences. Want to maintain a world that doesn’t have exact symmetry. Have gone back over the years to change things. For now, think they’ve gone about far enough. Nothing planned, but never say never.

 Surprise on Covenant armor? Based on heritage armor. Pure aesthetic, want to give players more and more options. Gameplay reasons to not tmog the entire range (warrior wearing cloth for example)

Workflow change during pandemic? Happened very suddenly. Team reached to each other to find comfort. The isolation found purpose for devs. Making Shadowlands/games help to reconnect friends and people.

Any plans to address faction imbalance? What happened to cause it? Something talked about a lot. Know there’s a very real problem, particularly high end. What caused the problem? Imbalanced in racials allowed to persist too long. At this point, don’t think racials are imbalanced. People staying Horde however due to social reasons now; compounded issue from all the way back from MoP etc. No real answer. Social issue requires social answer.

Have you ever seen a swing in either faction direction due to story elements? Across the game as a whole, faction balance is pretty good. Its raiding/high end PvE that the imbalances really emerge. Have seen faction switches/more cross faction alts in BfA for example. 

If I play BC, when I decide to play on main char and a classic era realm at 60, will I have to name change? You have your name in both places. Ensure people don’t park on names forever.

Any plans to connect more realms? Had to do survey across all populations in all realms. Essentially have to copy an entire realms database onto another. Not a flip a switch thing, lot of work. Have been able to address a large amount of the very low pop. realms. Had to pause for Shadowlands launch due to launch and Shadowlands had huge effects on server populations. Last time they connected realms was right before WoD, and realms had a LOT of queue problems. Watching and waiting for populations to go down before making the jump.

Never gonna have cross faction raids, dungeons etc? Not gonna say never. Essential to hold onto identity but...

Will our amount of Anima be increased later? Is it possible for sanctum upgrades to be account wide? Lot to collect. Hotfixed Anima drops so far. Looking for new sources of Anima for next patch. Over all looking at the costs. Cosmetics are generally account wide. Anima is designed to span the bulk of Shadowlands. 

Sire Denathrius is an eternal one and imprisoned. What will he do? Will we see him again? Best laid plans can adapt. During BfA, intended Bwonsamdi to be a one off. There, but no big deal. Once they heard the VA they went “we need more of this character”. Planned for Sire Denathrius to be there, you kill him w/e. Then heard the VA and went “this guys awesome we love him.” Changed plan to keep Sire Denathrius alive. Will find some other role for him to take. Watch fan feedback to see how community responds/gravitate to. He is in that sword, there may just be allies of him that would be interested in liberating him from the sword...

When will we see more Heritage Armor? As each one was released, got more and more excited from response/enhanced feel of the game. Working on further Heritage Armor. Some coming to near future updates, some more in the future.

Any plans to bring back the AH app? Not as you know it perse. It got turned into a lot of automation. Revamp removed app, then change of the AH. Meant to be more of a socialize thing then accumulation of gold by automated system. Recognize however convenience factor. Consider getting back into some form, but not like how it used to be.

Will there be more new character customization options for Shadowlands? None in Shadowlands. Tend to be fairly big projects. Release them when it’ll be very good for players. Lot of work to juggle. Felt like they got good feedback and support from it. Want to invest going forward when it makes sense.

What are actual requirements for flying in Shadowlands? Where can we fly? Can we fly across the realms? Shadowlands pathfinder no rep grind. Just requires completing full covenant campaign (9.0 and 9.1). Cannot fly from zone to zone. Once unlocked, alts will be able to fly freely. 

In the BC classic, will there be class tuning that would make it notably different than 2007? Broadly no. Want to keep the authentic behavior of final patch, like classic had. Seal of blood

Is there work being done on new Torghast Anima Powers for later patches? Spec specific, when can we see? WIll be done through all patches/future patches. new powers etc. As for powers working outside Torghast, keep OP nature of them inside Torghast.

Difference between passage of time in Shadowlands and in Azeroth? Salanar the Horseman in DK order hall said he was in the veil for what felt like days and it was between WoTLK and Legion. Meet characters for whom time doesn’t seem to have meaning. What is time a construct of? Order. On Azeroth, understand the passage of time because of influence of titans/order. Outside of the influence of order, time loses meaning. A lot more fluid. Shadowlands about eternities. Can have it perceived differently by different characters even going through same thing.

Bringing back 10-man content, either as different difficulty or different instances for smaller groups to tackle. All raid basically is/can be 10 man. These days its the 5 player mega dungeons that fill the role. In BC, ZA and Kara filled that niche of the smaller group doing the BIG, raid like content. Fulfills the spirit of 10 man content.

Will summoning stones be available at launch of BC or come later? Will have them at launch.

What’s Bolvar up to and where is his story going? Will he have a major role to play? One of the fun parts of Shadowlands was getting Bolvar back into the mix. We saw him be pivotal in Torghast and getting into Shadowlands. Saw there was a price to pay for visions with Torghast. He will be front and center in Chains of Domination. Good rallying figure.  

In BC, how will pvp titles be handled without battlegroups? Originally, reward was made for the best player in each battlegroup due to technical reasons. Now that they have better technology, fair way is % based, though still want to keep it small amount. 

In Stormwind, Darnassus refugees mention going back once the smoke clears. Does this mean Teldrassil can grow back and become habitable again? The damage was pretty definitive/lot of lives lost. Don’t want to reverse on a whim. The story of the souls of the Night Elves however is not yet done, nor is Tyrande’s story going into Chains of Domination and beyond.

Will fresh classic servers be added in addition to TBC servers? For the timeline of BC classic, no new classic servers. Eyes on it however for the future. Will discuss once BC launches.

How do you get the Wandering Ancient Mount? Got to have Shadowlands. Will be in 9.0.5 patch update next month (March).

Villain!Omega!Deku Part 4

USJ Arc and more background info.:

Izuku takes into great consideration who he has to take with him to USJ.  Izuku relies heavily on trust, loyalty, and family. He does not take just anyone with him on a mission.

He takes those with stealth-like quirks and places them into the different zones where he has them document the quirks of each student in their presence. Izuku does not care how detailed they are, because he will watch the UA Sports Festival, and further add to them.

He places the safety of his “family” as a priority over anything here.

He places those whose quirks best fit the zones (around 10 per zone).

He places about 30 in the middle, these individuals have different quirks and are some of those of which he holds great trust in.

He takes a Nomu with him, but not the same Nomu with the augmentation quirk. Instead, this Nomu is one of surveillance (the flying Nomu). It has a camera attached to it that sends a live feed to an untraceable backdoor to Izuku’s computer, thanks to La Brava.

In this AU Gentle Criminal and La Brava work with the League of Villains in terms of street/online surveillance.

Here Twice is already part of LoV, and Izuku is the only one who has some sense of control over his dissociative identity disorder. But his personality and sense of identity will still have the need for Toga. Twice stays by Izuku’s side and only creates clones of those whose quirks Izuku believes will help their situation.

Izuku heavily believes that he needs to protect the identity of each of his family members unless they say otherwise, so they each wear masks, that signify the squad they belong to in LoV. Here is the order, Violet (Front-line), Black (Strategy), Carmine (Intelligence/Surveillance), Brown (Support), and Yellow (Experimentation/Scientists).

Kurogiri is part of the Intelligence and Surveillance squad.

Izuku and the UA students during USJ:

Izuku doesn’t have a lot of interactions with them other than Bakugou, Todoroki, and Kirishima.

Izuku attacks USJ knowing that there will be a class held there, but he was unsure as to which class and which homeroom teachers, but he took into precaution of either Vlad or Eraser when he chose who would accompany him.

Izuku does this to figure out what the security of UA could be like, and create a backdoor for La Brava to enter into the school’s security system later on.

Izuku was not aware that All Might would be part of the class until the hero arrived. Izuku could tell that with the individuals, including the Nomu, he brought with him none could win a fight against the number one hero.

Izuku ordered a full retreat for all members, he had immediately asked Kurogiri to begin extraction of all members, and for Twice to create clones of those with augmentation quirks to distract All Might and the hero DK (Shimura Tenko) and the other heroes who arrived as backup.

Izuku was too busy with paying attention to All Might’s and the other heroes’ movements that he paid no attention to the three male students who were coming from the side and two other students who helped Eraserhead fight off the other clones.

He didn’t realize how close Bakugou, Kirishima, and Todoroki were until they had knocked down the Nomu that was hovering above Izuku. There the Nomu fell at Izuku’s feet with the tips of its wings burned, from an explosion it seemed.

Izuku looked from the Nomu to where the sound of explosion had come from to see the three male students he had been ignoring. He immediately recognized that the one who caused the explosion was his former childhood friend, Katsuki. 

Behind his respirator, Izuku smiled at seeing the wannabe hero, and he laughed. 

This is where Izuku would begin to taunt him, calling him a bully, reminding him of Midoriya Izuku, the boy he had bullied for being quirkless. 

Bakugou, yelled at him, asking how he knew that name, all Izuku did was laugh in response. “I wonder...”

Using his Reverse quirk, Izuku saw that the one with an ice based quirk was shivering and had steam coming off him, with a small hint flame. Izuku became ticked. He yelled angrily at the hero wannabe, yelling at him to use his full quirk against him and his family before he takes it away from him. 

With All Might coming closer to him and the Nomu not equipped with any augmentation quirks, he could only wait as Kurogiri had finished with the extraction of his family to finally leave this forsaken school. 

All Might kept asking him of what his plans were as the clones that Twice had created were being beaten by the number one hero. “You don’t need to know hero.”

As Kurogiri appeared, and Twice and the Nomu had passed through, Izuku left the group a short speech that shook their core. “Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of Midoriya Izuku, Kacchan, we’ll make sure to turn him into a villain, and not the hero he wanted to be. And All Might, we won’t kill you just yet, we want you to go through the same situation we all have, we want you to watch as the world you claim to protect and love crumble to pieces before your very eyes.”

How to choose your first knitting machine

So you are looking into buying a knitting machine, and totally clueless and confused by different choices. This article is going to clarify different choices and help you decide on the best knitting machine for beginners.

Why machine knitting?

Hand knitting with a pair of double point needle or circular needle is fun and relaxing, but it takes so much time, especially if you are a new mother or have a busy career. Or maybe you have too many design ideas in your head and not enough time to knit it out. Yes, a knitting machine will greatly speed up the projects.

Maybe your hand gets so tired or hurt from knitting for a long time, or your eyesight is bothering you with all the tiny stitches. Maybe you just want to de-stash quickly and create big projects like blankets in a shorter time. These are all common reasons people turn to machine knitting.

Machine knitting myth

1. A knitting machine will do all the work for you. It is cheating compared to hand knitting.

First, there is a learning curve to operate the machine. Even with the most advanced computer-aided knitting machine, you still need to input the design and learn to knit different stitches, and takes time finishing pieces. It is not just push a button and everything will be done magically. You will not call the person using a sewing machine cheating, so why is it different from the knitting machine?

2. Knitting machine is hard to find and difficult to learn

Most knitting machines are second hands or pre-owned. It does take some research to find the right one and need to clean and maintain the machine once in a while. It is the same as all machines, just like maintaining a sewing machine. Usually, it is just applying oil and changing out the sponge retaining bar.

It seems difficult to learn because of the lack of resource. Now with the online forum, group, classes and YouTube videos, information is much easier to obtain. All the flatbed Japanese style machine are similar to operate. People are also finding creative ways to solve knitting problems. There is no limit to what you can do with your machine. 

Basic types of the flat-bed domestic knitting machine

We are talking about the Japanese style, flat-bed domestic knitting machine, instead of circular knitting machine or industrial knitting machine. We can basically categorize them by brands, gauge, and attachments.

Brands

The most popular 2 brands are Brother/Knit King, and Singer/ Studio /Silver Reed. The name changes over time or in different locations. They operate slightly differently and have different names for the same function or buttons/lever. Some prefer Brother and some prefer Singer. It is just personal preference. Brother accessories will not fit Singer and vice versa.

There is also a new brand that is the clone of Brother brand called Artisan or Taitexma (allbrands.com). Because they are new, the price will be higher. I heard some fashion school use them in a classroom. Some people question the quality because it is made in China. The advantage is that they are newly manufactured, so the customer service and repair should be easier.

Other popular brands include Passap and Toyota. They have their own system and operate slightly different from Brother and Singer. 

No matter which brand you choose, if you spend time learning well, it could be your best friend. If the machine just sits there collecting dust, no matter how expensive, it is still not the right machine for you.

Gauge

Metal bed knitting machine can be categorized by the gauge: fine, standard, and bulky. Fine and mid-gauge metal bed machines are harder to find now. Most plastic bed machines are the mid-gauge to the bulky machine. Plastic bed machine is also called hobby machine because it is lightweight and less complicated. Even though it is called the hobby machine, I find them very reliable and easy to learn for beginners.

Here is the basic of the different gauge in mm between needles, and their matching yarn thickness:

Standard: 4.5 mm - finger, sock yarn, baby, and sports weight yarn

Midgauge: 6.5 - 7.5 mm - all the yarn above plus DK weight. Maybe light worsted weight.

Bulky: 9 mm -  from sports weight, DK weight to worsted weight. Sock yarn or finger weight might be knitted a little too loosely.

Depending on what kind of project you want to knit, pick the gauge accordingly. It is easy to see that the mid-gauge and bulky machine can handle the widest range of the hand knitting yarns from sports to worsted. 

Attachments, accessories, and patterning

A ribber is a flatbed attachment to make ribbing and circular knitting. A punch card machine makes the pattern with a punch card device. An electronic machine can input pattern with a disk or computer connection, and a garter carriage is a Brother device to knit purl stitches electronically. There are a lot of choices of add-on or patterning device you should consider. 

Most plastic bed machine doesn't have a patterning device or ribber attachment. Most later model metal bed machine has some types of patterning device such as punchcard, knit leader, or an electronic one. You have to know if what is important function to you when you choose a machine.

My suggestion for beginner

The first category I recommend for beginners is the plastic bed mid or bulky machine. For example, Singer / Studio / Silver Reed LK100, LK140, LK150, Brother KX350, KX390, KX395, KX400. 

The advantage: It is usually cheaper to buy, very reliable and don't need a lot of adjustment, takes a variety of yarn thickness similar to hand knitting yarn, lightweight and portable, less intimidating than the metal bed machine, fewer accessories means less complicated and easier to learn.

The second category I recommend it the metal bed standard or bulky machine punchcard machine. Does not matter if it is Brother or Singer/Studio/Silver Reed. Even though they are most likely second hand machines, but still easily available, meaning it is easy to find parts, tutorials, patterns and add-on accessories.

Punchcard patterning opens up the potential to punch your own design, yet still not requiring electric power. The issue with electronic or computer machine is that it will be outdated eventually and the parts might need service by professionals in the future.

Conclusion

It really comes down to what suits your current need or the projects you intend to make. Most people I know end up having several machines. Many still treasure the plastic bed hobby machine even though they have a fancy computerized machine. 

If you are looking for your first machine to try, the plastic machine is a good choice. If you have access to a cheap metal bed machine from the local yard sale or eBay online, it is a solid choice too. Just remember a metal bed machine is very heavy and takes a lot of space. You have to think about storage too when not in use.
