its been really fun to work out mikey's personality because one of the most important things to me was to make it really obvious that raph was not only a role model for him but also his ONLY role model, but mikey's relationship with him is also,,, tumultuous, which is not a recent development (although it DOES get worse once everything starts out). raph's first and only priority is mikey's well-being, and most of the decisions he makes are ones he believes he HAS to make to keep him safe, even if he doesn't like it. he thinks he doesn't have a choice, which is something mikey directly goes against.

like generally in the story mikey is the EMBODIMENT of choice. he is the physical manifestation of it. he provides donnie with the opportunity to choose which side he's on, parallels leo who acts only out of fear due to being harmed and restricted, and very ironically the WORST decision that raph makes in the story, which i cant talk about here lol, is one he makes when mikey is literally locked in a cage. mikey's existence changes everything around him, which is why it's important he makes so many decisions independently from raph, and why he COMPLETELY fucks up donnie and leo's relationship with each other and their father lmfao oopsie. mikey is the wind and raph is as solid as stone, endlessly stubborn in his position. he only sees one way through, while mikey ALWAYS thinks there's another way. there's a way out. they can do this better. there's no such thing as a "necessary sacrifice", and he is INTENSE about proving it. its his already existing optimism taken to an extreme, because he DID get that fire and stubbornness from raph, even if his perspective is much different.

usually this is what they butt heads over. raph doesn't think of himself as a pessimist at all, just a realist. but REALISTICALLY he's a pessimist, and a lot of that comes from the fact that he's anxious and he's had to bare that weight all on his own. mikey wants to spread his wings and raph wants to keep him on the ground (while, in comparison, donnie is trying to swim and leo is desperate to make both of them sink lmfao). having less brothers to take care of did NOT fix his problems, they made it worse actually-- in canon leo is actually a pretty important person in his life that evens him out, and donnie is a provider, and raph doesn't have that here, so he has to do those jobs too. splinter's more involved in their lives, but it's still not as much as he should be. really raph took over and once he hit a certain point splinter was like "okay cool", raph controls mikey's life very authoritatively usually because he's hyper-aware of the potential danger of their lifestyle-- and like, i really do not blame him for that. raph is in the wrong, but that doesn't automatically make mikey in the right, and they are in a position where he is right to worry about this.

the culmination of mikey and raph's dynamic is a "growing to realize your parent is human too" kind of arc. raph would probably need to get this kind of arc with splinter, mikey doesn't really have ANY baggage with his dad because raph did everything his dad didn't, and even though he doesn't always like him, he still does see him as helpful and usually infallible. splinter's always the peacekeeper when things get intense, if april's not around (and even then she is USUALLY more team raph than she is team mikey, she will be a bit of a snitch unfortunately,,, she's probably closer to mikey though, they're pretty good friends here. maybe i'll parallel their dynamic with leo and casey's? that'd be silly EDIT: I GOT THE PERFECT IDEA OF HOW IM GOING TO DO THIS BUT I CANT TALK ABOUT IT HERE FUCKKKK)

i love oc x canon talia lore IM SCREAMMINGG analyzing my own work here LMFAO i didnt write it with these thoughts in mind but lets seeeee

the talia story is wrote is basically revolving around beliefs and desires, especially the desire to live and the recycling nature of life. yknow, wasteland of talia - everything gets recycled.

i do want to focus more on aventurine’s religious writing side, but im not very erhhhh good with that

i think the concept of the story im writing for them is heavily based on desires and religion, considering the heavy emphasis i put on the parallel between Avidity (fenrir’s clan) and the streetcar named desire LOL (however, the streetcar reference thing will come in another posttt)

context context, at the end of the talia quest, yk the oc quest that i wrote when there’s a big battle going on like how every quest ends lol. here, it would be revealed that fenrir is the final boss, after completing the little obsidian vampire ritual things with the scraps and turning into this big chimera monster thing and he got that cornerstone as well (boosted damage). he used the cornerstone, which he wasnt supposed to and how tf did he even do that

aventurine was supposed to use the cornerstone, yk joining the battle, but that would most likely cost him his life and fenrir - even know he knew that aventurine’s luck would save him, he still can’t bear to continue with the plan because that lingering chance of failure worry him too much

so aventurien was liek “ayo where tf my cornerst- FENRIR GET YO BUMASS HOME!!!” and he got snatched by the IPC to safety to return to work and fenrir out there smacking everyone

the “kiss” here, i wrote it to be implied but regardless it still symbolizes a form of betrayal because its wrapped in what should be a sign of devotion

fenrir’s “betrayal” isn’t driven by hatred, greed or other devious motives its from desperation. you know some form of love but it has been twisted. he wanted to save aventurine from a fate he believed to be inevitable and similar to judas, which is an obvious reference here, who believed he must to fulfill a necessary prophecy.

aventurine wouldve probably anticipated a betrayal from someone on his side, fenrir even. but with understanding there came trust, and in a game of gamble you cant trust - so aventurine put his trust on fenrirs love - “a dog known to betray his owner”. he had let his guard down too much and with a life like aventurine, letting your guard down is a guaranteed idk bad thing

i cant say for aventurine, but just headcanon and a sense that aventurine feels bad asf after that “betrayal”, having the very fragile connection that he held dear weaponized against him i think thats pretty serious idk man probably makes him feel greedy

but its both love and betrayal harharhahrr

aventurine’s the typa lad to be like “yeah ima be the final sacrifice, ill die for everyone” and then at the border to death he realized that everyone in question made him happy and he wished to be selfish and not make the sacrifice earlier because its too late to go back now

tng update time. last night we watched "datalore" together and this morning i caught "angel one" on my own

datalore: not terrible!! i felt really bad for data the entire time of course. kind of delighted to find out he is amnesiac-adjacent in this episode, at least as far as not knowing where he comes from or why. i've gotten used to thinking of him as friend-shaped but lore reminded me of just how creepy he actually does look because he was making the creepy faces

the planet and lab were cool though it was hilarious that one of the pieces was just an ass with the crotch faced away from us to protect data's modesty lol

i liked the bit about data having an off switch.it is ironically such a human vulnerability. we have those too! it's called head trauma.

ik what i said about picard not being a dick anymore but i noticed he IS still a dick sometimes and it's mostly to either wesley (valid) or data (may he DIE). i was glad data told him not to call lore "it" and that he APOLOGIZED. he should apologize to data more often

actually fuck it. my proposal for the skyrim main story quest rewrite  that i think keeps the bare bones the same but incorporates more lore and makes it more interesting. reputation also will be making a comeback in this along with skills and more dialogue options

this is also part 1 bc i wrote so much lol i’ll do the rest later

>you are still told to go to whiterun and meet with the jarl. while you can get inside the city fairly easily (after passing many panicked traders coming to sell or deliver goods into the city where you learn its a major trading hub bc they saw a dragon fly by or are bickering abt if it was a dragon or not) meeting with the jarl isnt so simple. you’re told you dont have an appointment, and wont be able to get one anytime soon given you’re a nobody (if for some reason you have done other stuff and gained a large reputation and have high speechcraft this can be bypassed) and there is a civil war going on. everyone saw the dragon near by. how can anyone be sure you aren’t proposing to send a march of troops to riverwood to instigate a battle in the civil war? his housecarl won’t let you have a meeting nor will he really talk with you if you try

>luckily for you, you’re pointed in the direction of the court mage looking for someone to do things for him if you feel the need to complain to anyone. farengar needs someone to do various tasks for him, and no one else has taken him up on the offer really given the distrust of mages in skyrim as of late. he tasks you with several things: gathering herbs, trying a new potion he developed, testing an enchanted item by killing an enemy with it. various wizard grunt tasks that also introduce various other magical skills that you can ask him to explain if you’re curious and he’ll explain them but point you in the direction of the college if you want to really learn as he cant take students right now

>last quest he gives you is to get the dragonstone someone was asking him about. he can’t pull away from his work at the moment to go get it, but he has faith you’ll probably survive. bleakfalls barrow can probably mostly stay the same, but things of note i’d include is having some details from bandit conversations that draugar aren’t normally this big of an issue. usually they can “just sneak past them” but for some reason some are walking around awake for no reason and are way more active. just as a little detail

>delivering the stone farengar can now get you the meeting with the jarl. he’s vouched for your reputation and thinks you’re trustworthy. along with some funny dialogue to not mess it up or he’ll be in hot water. NOW you can meet with the jarl, except your conversation about riverwood asking for protection is interrupted by word a dragon is attacking a whiterun tower

>kill the dragon, eat the soul, use fus, you know the drill. this one isnt that bad and i think it works. there, several nords question your soul eating and turning the dragon to bones more than the thuum, which is something nords known and can train on. irileth says thats all nord superstition and she doesn’t believe any of it, but she does question what exactly you did to the dragon or if its normal for dragons to die that way.

>you return to the jarl who thanks you, names you thane, and says he will send more guards to scout riverwood, but believes the dragon you killed is likely the one riverwood was so worried about. if you question him about “dragonborn” stuff he will explain its a nord legend, dragonborn emperors, etc, but that if anyone could answer if you’re a dragonborn or not it would be the greybeards. the greybeards don’t summon you outright at this stage, not unless you have done other stuff i’ll include in another section.

>go to the greybeards. greybeards say frankly they don’t know if you’re the  dragonborn or not. you claim to have eaten a dragon’s soul and absorbed the knowledge, but it’s hard for them to test that. however, your gift with the thuum without them teaching you is remarkable, so they send you on spiritual tasks before they train you. they are more old school nord pantheon religious as opposed to the more imperial worship thats becoming more common

>these tasks include: traveling to various sacred sights, a word wall, and going to kynesgrove to hold a ritual to commune with kyne. from there kyne will task you with finding a fox that you later find out is the avatar of shor, who confirms you are of dragon blood, but that you will need to seek counsel from ‘the dragon’ if you want to know more. after that he fades away, and you return to the greybeards who say that is peculiar, and may be referring to akatosh. they know they could ask paarthurnax, but are still hesitant about introducing you to him

>there is a possibility to meet another dragon before you return to the greybeards. after the tower and dragons start appearing across skyrim, a third faction of the civil war has opened up: the dragon cult. various villages have been taken over by dragons, where some dragons you can speak to are there. they will confirm you are dragonborn. they don’t see you as a threat, more like a pitiful, weak little creature. all of the dragons have different personalities, one i might make disgusted with you and calls you an abomination, another who thinks you are interesting and mentions they would like to have you as a priest/willing servant but they believe that would “anger alduin” and you would refuse anyways. if you speak to them the greybeards say that might have been what shor was referring to when he said “the dragon”

>they then begin your training, teaching you various shouts. after every shout they send you on a small quest after the little tutorial part to “internalize and meditate on the meanings”. rinse and repeat. fast travel is enabled still in my vision so you dont have to make this trek every time

>after this they task you with recovering the horn. it is there, in the tomb, along with the tomb containing lore on the way of the voice you can read like the tablets on the way to the monastery. they mention the great elder greybeard paarthurnax, friend of the founder, but not that he’s a dragon. some lore info. you bring the horn back and are named dragon of the north. from here, the greybeards say they dont know why a dragonborn has come, but that there are many prophecies of what dragonborns accomplish. ultimately though it means you get to forge your own destiny, and they hope you will get the way of the voice in your heart. probably discuss where a lot of dragonborns did a lot of damage, like with tiber septim conquering the continent in uhm, some pretty not nice ways.

>after you gain some reputation (or maybe just asking around and then waiting a few days) an innkeeper in riverwood says she’s heard you’re looking for dragonborn information and she’s a bit of a scholar so she thinks she can help you. going to her she says shes a bit of an archaeologist so she’s learned a few things, but asks for a favor first as nothing is for free. she’s been very busy running the inn and needs you to delivery some packages of information for people who have requested it from her. one is a member of a jarl’s court, another a college of winterhold member, and something for a skooma addict in hopes he stops causing problems for other people (hiding out in an abandoned college outpost in windhelm after the people drove them out, because there are now college outposts) these are all covert messages she’s been unable to send to various blades members/contacts who are still in hiding. i just thing 5 members is better than fucking 2

>then, she tells you a lot of lore about the dragonborn. then says if you think you are dragonborn she’d be interested in seeing you in action as she’s never met someone claiming to be dragonborn and your story is interesting. she accompanies you to the dragon burial at kynesgrove where you see alduin and actually get a dialogue option with him, however short. if you have done studying and research on dovahzuul, you can actually answer him in the dragon tongue which does mildly impress him but he is still going to say you are not worth his time. you are weak and an abomination, nothing like a true dov. and then he has sahlokniir kill you like in the original.

>after this delphine asks to head back to the inn to talk about all that. she then takes you into her room, closes the door, and reveals the secret door. down there she finally reveals she is a member of the blades and apologizes for deceiving you. she says the blades are being hunted down and persecuted following the war because they threaten the thalmor’s power. but the blades serve the dragonborn, so she wants you to lead them.

>next thing she needs though is she knows she cant stay here. she’s been talking to you, going and looking at things, and the thalmor are very suspicious with this dragonborn talk afraid the empire is trying to empower themselves against them and find a new imperial family. she says there is an akaviri temple that is hidden away they can stay in and get the blades together again to act as a base of operations, and that it will be safer than being scattered and hidden hoping no one catches on. the people you delivered to previously are given messages and promise to meet you there when they can slip away with varied dialogue. skooma addict reveals it was all a rouse and he goes pretty easily. this also allows the base to have stuff like a mage, a smith, etc.

>after this she says she thinks there may be more members alive, but also the thalmor might be onto them all. she tasks you with breaking into the embassy and getting the information. unlike the very scripted quest, getting in through the party is not the ONLY way to do this. you can break in through a variety of ways if you are clever, or you could have already done it when the quest starts. all you need to do is tell delphine if ur going to the party or not. ALSO regardless of how you do it, if you are stealthy enough no one will burst in at the last second to say they caught you and hold malborn hostage despite not realistically having a way to know that fast. if you kill everyone there though or slash your way through they will know though and your cover will be blown.

>there you find documents of various blades agents and contacts they killed. as well as find out they are currently hunting for esbern. you also gather the documents on ulfric and stuff. delphine is relieved she left as it seems like they did just start to catch on to her, and then tasks you with finding esbern if he’s alive because he’s lore keeper and will know about the ruins they are in as well as the dragonborn legends

>getting esbern is pretty similar. along with the thalmor coming after you. if you are in the thieves guild or have enough money you can bribe them into helping and use various traps in the rat ways to kill the thalmor

and u can def tell something changed yeah. and that im focused on arama maybe too much. but he is really a character who got a ton of headcanons that i want to talk about. and some of them were basically build in that public ask, such as ears touching that we are not talking about either. i really had some crack time with it.

i was just having a lot of fun. with the requirement of 1 comic (thats actually not necessarily for it to be a comic, but i love making comics) per month, in the very first month i made three, each of which was 3 or more pages long. i even got a second role of, you wont believe who, ararycan because i was just as confident... but ended up with just 2 comics one of which was 1 page long before i left it behind. that was jus too much.

so uh, what i wanna talk about is my funky ref sheets for these because goddamn these are the hilarious.

the very first refsheets i used, except for cinnamon arama one cuz it sucked and was made long before i introduced cinnamon arama to the public and his design was a bit different. i think it was the very first time i ever showed cinnamon arama anywhere, somewhere in the end of november? but this ref most likely was made about a month earlier, alongside with my names comic (the third one) when i started my book long tractate (its really long trust me). that tractate started with discussing names and language so i think it was that time.

and u can see the very first cinnamon arama encounter with the very first page that has him among others.

also i used to make actual gradient on his cap, but with gradient maps over it, that started looking like two separate colors and i took it as a feature, up until now. and that applies for every single aranara i ever drew, i never used gradients.

and since i got a role of ararycan at that time, i added him here as well. he doesnt have that gradient too. its also the time when their mouths could open finally, and for long these were rather catlike for whatever reason. but i like it. my necoarc drawing expirience def helped me with that.

this is the very first ref of cinna arama that i used up until recent. i for some reason made him kinda reddish... but i think thats because under gradient maps he looked more yellowish. then i stopped using these and didnt change the design anyway. and as u can see, the pattern on the cap is still incorrect, while we are somewhere in january, when my last cinna arama comic was made lol, not including the one im working on now ofc. this refsheet looks like arama lore btw.

in the meantime i only changed his bud into flower* with one petal bended. this is what i was talking about when i said that u can differ regular arama and cinnamon arama even if i wont color them. cinna also has shaggy scarf tip, in case u didnt notice.

and we are finally at the current moment, this is the most recent refsheet. simple yet accurate, and i love this one. i love how it took me half a year to finally understand the design. they look kinda yummy like that, but its unwelcome to eat aranara and shriveled seeds somewhere near me. thank you.

Hey it's the devilman anon again back from the trenches... I finally finished devilman lady and I'm sure you've talked/heard about it a thousand times but I can't help but want to complain about it sorry it's just SO MUCH

99% of the story feels completely pointless? Why even have Jun and Asuka as protagonists at all? Everything would be so much easier (AND SHORTER) if it was just Akira in hell and stuff. Go Nagai would have to come up with some other way for the earth to get destroyed and for Hell to open up sure but that couldn't possibly be more difficult than what he actually did.

Also the way Akira came back was so unnecessary what the fuck. I had already skimmed that post you linked that explained what happened in the manga so I was aware of what was coming but it still didn't stop me from getting slapped in the face with Akira stating that the woman he had sex with was now his mom. That sex scene between them was so bad too, Jun was having PTSD the whole time... Not that I would expect any sort of healthy sex scene from Go Nagai at this point. Can't believe this old man really made me read volumes upon volumes about his sexual assault kink.

Of course the amount of rape and nudity is awful and unnecessary but that goes without saying I think. The lore stuff was ok I guess but not enough to make this worth it. The art was certainly much better than the original which is nice, but I still kind of miss the wonky artwork. The fights felt sort of lacking tbh, they were over way too quickly.

Thats one of the things that makes dual process unlikely in my eyes. Its too much like a real story. We know Scott was just pantsing his way through the story- nothing was preplanned. He isnt a genius storyteller- hes just a guy whos personal final fantasy got big, and he got the chance to make more games in that series. Fnaf was never meant to be a huge, lore heavy franchise.

(Thats not nessasarily a knock on the guy- weve all got different ways of writing. His way just doesnt help make a consistent multi-entry franchise. It does however catch people and refuses to let them go!)

And if Scott had been preplanning everything. There would've been more clues. More foreshadowing. It wouldn't have taken people this long to figure out that crying child= Cassidy if crying child WAS Cassidy. Because it would have been obvious. It would've been made more obvious that Michael was toysnhk, in a better planned story.

I guess thats my deal here- I'm not gonna pretend I'm a theorist. I gave up on trying to seriously solve the lore years ago, when I realised it just wasnt possible for me to do so.

I just want a story that makes sense.

here are my spoilers thoughts abt act 3 of arcane

SPOILERS FOR ARCANE CLEARLY

First of all so caitvi was heavily implied but they dont even get to smooch and i know why but thats still a coward move when we had fucking JAYCE SEX scene... cant believe Jayce was the first league character to fuck on screen

Second, I fucking love Ekko he looks so good I love him my boy he's amazing and he's getting shit done and he's the one character that was 100% right alright? alright

Jayce had a very interesting arc huh... he's not at all like the character in the game and I like this Jayce better I think, but it's just.... very different from in game Jayce its hard trying to even put those two together

I really liked the story overall, how Piltover and Zaun were treated... very interesting... I feel like it dealt a lot with consequences, often, all the time actually. The price we pay for the things we do.

Now Viktor, my speciality... What do I think of Arcane Viktor....

I think he's a new character tbh, although similar to in game Viktor like I mentioned before, and similar motivations I think act 3 put a major difference between them while drawing from a same theme?? thing?? I'll explain

Act 3 had Viktor start to use desperate, even harmful means to help himself and it worked. But when he was out of shimmer he decided to just keep pushing it. He was desperate, he tasted freedom for a second and he wanted more. And there were consequences, when someone got killed for it. I think it's WILD thats hes just gonna hide that specially cause it didnt seem like anyone would investigate the poor girl just fucking disappearing but ive playing a lot of DD lately and stories of guilt is something i got used to UASHDUHSDA.... But yeah back on topic, he seems to put a stop on his research with shimmer, specially seeing the girl was helping him figure out another way that was less desperate. That's interesting, because the ideia for the Glorious Evolution does come to Viktor when he's at his lowest, after being sabotaged and seeing death and suffering and sinking into an isolated depression, it WAS born of desperation as well, and mental instability, even if it's something that he truly believes him, something that kept him alive and could save lives.

And here's what separate arcane viktor from lol viktor, right? Arcane Viktor seemed to use magic and outside means to achieve his results and in exchange seemed to corrupt the magic or his cells?? in the process. we see the hexcore taking the form of something that resembles the void even. But that says nothing of Viktor's genious. It feels like he just, did something anyone could do?? Like, he's not taking a big leap and creating something new it just feels like he injected drugs did a little twirl and voila, working leg.

I feel like there's much more conviction and ingenuity in LOL Viktor not replicating human limbs, but improving them by merging flesh with metal, replacing flesh with metal with something BETTER, soemthing taht works, and doing it on himself to prove it. The whole magic thing feels cheap to me, and they call it hextech but I dont feel it. Arcane viktor is not a cyborg he just kinda... mutated? Idk the word. It's like he's Mundo or soemthing idk Mundo's lore forgive me.

But you know what, it kinda works for Viktor arcane's little arc abt hubris or something, paralel to everyone elses. "Are you really willing to go that far?". But he says it himself "there's always a choice". And he chose to not go any further with that path, even if it might mean a premature death.

So yeah, I like Viktor Arcane, it's not Viktor LoL but he's cool. He deserves better too, it's hard not to sympathize with him, he's made like that. Viktor lol is a lil bonkers its understandable ppl not sympathizing. Vry interesting choice they made there, wish Riot would give him any content at all like skins and shit but what can you do

on my rants there were quite a few people who actually said they like the game but agree with alot of my views on it regardless, it is very flawed but i can also see that the good things outweigh the bad stuff for others, even if i legitimately hate it; but i also had to block multiple people bc they got so butthurt about me criticising it

and i dont think its 100% just an opinion thing either, totk, even when i disregard my personal feelings on the matter, has alot of problems, moreso than the other zeldas (each judged for how it was in their time) and in pretty much every part of the game too (story, lore, continuity, gameplay and rewards, UI-) and i think alot of it stems from its conception, they have never done a true direct sequel before and it came from a DLC idea, and it shows (though i still believe even coming from that you could have done something way better..... bc they also made botw, which seemed to prepare fertile ground for more storytelling that was all discarded for NO reason)

BUT that doesnt mean you cant like it anyway! there are some very horribly shitty games out there that are beloved by people anyway! and thats fine! i love ww and botw, both of which HAVE flaws too! and thats okay!

ok and with that out of the way,

i’m not even familiar with their lore. Reason why i stopped caring about the lore behind faust and mephistopheles is that an interlude happens that shows that mephistopheles is just some homunculi made by some mage nobody named faust. and even then the interlude doesn’t talk about the lore behind the novel, its just you helping mephy kill faust

that being said though i would hope the developers expand on their origins more and potentially even release a “true” mephistopheles (a girl can dream)

So, they’re not even the real deal demon known as Mephistopheles in the first place, and i can hear u going “well that’s lame” and like, no, we just need to redirect our feelings from appreciating a demon to appreciating a homunculi who has a weird characterization in the fate universe

Design tangent:

Fgo was actually my first gacha, and so when I came across this servant I kinda instantly fell in love with their design, I love the colors used in their final ascension and overall appearance. The hat that has horns but they're not quite horns, theyre these weird colorful pointy twisty things, the large garish butterfly ornament on their chest (which isnt ugly at all and somehow works so well with their everything on them) is cool, the tights are so cool to look at, i mean look -- a checkered pattern with golden lining on the shorts portion, the tits out look like yes we get it youre insane, the gloves??? purple and also cool, plus theyve got this gradient thing going on? and the fingers have this line going through them, thats so cool. actually the only other servant that comes close to this in terms of “out there” colorful designs is probably final ascension kama and qsh ( i love them both). Also, mephy has this scissor weapon?? thats so cool lol i dont see any other servant wielding giant scissors (for the love of god give mephy an animation update i need to see them use the scissors while doing flips) and they also have this bomb obsession going on? cant relate, but the bombs designs are so so cool i mean its a fucking centipede -- no idea if centipedes are a thing in the original faust but thats something Ill have to look up at some point. ALSO mephy is wearing heels oh my god anytime people wear heels is an automatic win. No clue whats going on with the hair but its kinda cute (dont question me on that) and it has curls and the hair colors are cool i mean its like a lavender thing with darker purple highlights? i love colorful things and i love people with wacky personalities so. Oh my god their tail how could i forget that its so cute and dumb i almost forgot it was there, like what is that even a whip? i dont.. but its got these little purple tips to them that are kinda cute/cool but more cool because tails are fucking up there alongside heels in terms of cool stuff on characters. and of course their fluffly cape -- again no idea what the designers were going for i mean look its a mess of a design i have no fucking idea what any of it means and i hope they explain it someday because that hair and the butterfly and the tail and the hat and the fluffy garb and a bomb obsession?? and this got the go ahead - yeah lets add that to the game like what

anyways this is me going off all about why i like their design! but we haven’t even touched the nitty gritty of it all. their personality! what personality you may ask? havent they always been some weirdo laughing a lot and saying dumb shit all the time? well yes and no

Characterization:

True to their dumb little clown design mephy also acts like one.

Some servants bond 1 lines are like “fuck off” and some actually talk to you, nah this bastard mephistopheles’ just laughing. and for the second bond line it seems to imply theyre fuckin with you more (showing up and dissapearing and saying ‘afterimage’) so thats nice that theyre actually making some effort to mess with you in a way? some servants take a long time to actually interact with you so this shows theyre not afraid of interacting with you and thats just at bond 2. and of course the third bond line implies they were probably trying to betray you, its stated in more than 1 place that mephistopheles (actually isnt this a caster class thing?) will betray you or attempt to do so. So the third bond line seems to imply that their attempts have been stopped by you and that’s what they say after some failed attempts. So after stopping this freak from doing some shit their next bond line is actually doing a confession! a jester being honest who couldve seen that one coming but theyre 100% not lying, they really arent a demon but a homunculi made by faust

speaking of faust we’re going to backtrack a little into their interlude that i brought up at the start of this post, its one of those dream interludes and it starts with mephy asking you to help him plant bombs for their eventual reuinion/showdown with faust -- in the meantime faust keeps sending golems in an attempt to kill both you and mephy

When you track faust down, it’s shown that faust was your typical mage, inhumane and uncaring. It’s also pointed out that this faust killed innocents, but this typical mage behavior is boring to mephy, and they say that boring typical behavior is why they wanted to kill them

 so i really cant blame mephistopheles for being the way they are, being raised by this type of guy, even if mephy was always messed up and wacky from the beginning its no reason for faust to attempt to kill him.

Mephistopheles also shows up in salem, cu alter’s interlude, and of course the knk crossover event, and some other things im most likely forgetting but those 3 are ones that i find notable

anytime they show up theyre actually helpful, in salem mephy points out that the nature of the being responsible for the salem epic of remnant is something alien rather than a typical foreign god, mephy also tells you that time is also being sped up and in their weird way they try to cheer you up by spouting some nonsense at the beginning (guda needed some kind of distraction from the grim events that had just transpired at that point in the story), i cant quite remember what mephy did in the knk event but they were a part of your group and were helpful the whole time, actually @/zeravmeta does an amazing analysis of their role in the knk event as well as some extra character analysis here

mephistopheles is kinda cryptic in a weird way though,

like overall i mean theyre a jester homunculi in appearance so yeah its to be expected but come on i love morally gray characters, despite their supposed betrayal hints scattered around here and there

they have this one line that always gets to me

and this line is said with a completely serious face too

the rare serious mephistopheles face! its kinda grim to see that line, no laughs, no nothing, their voice is kinda serious and monotone too. of course this could be just to get you to lower your guard but its still kinda out there that they have this rarely used portrait and that line, so i like to take it as being said to you when youre by yourself and with sincerity

and at least sei (with her wacky outfit and all lol) seems to get along with mephy and thinks theyre nice woohoo

so at the end of the day you have this guy that laughs a lot and gives mixed signals

and they fuck with you

and will most likely try to kill you more than once but hey thats just another tuesday at chaldea

at the core of it all this homunculi....can be your friend! you just need to not go into despair i guess

Arataki Itto - my oni husband. he is so fun to play and it's a bonus he is considered S+ tier by the community rn. he's so strong omg and i LOVVEE his personality 🥴 he is such a wholesome himbo. and like omg he is boyfriend material. and his story quest was a breath of fresh air. the best so far. it was comical but also full of heart and gay

2. Gorou - general gorou, my kindred spirit. supreme omega. power bottom. fkdkdj i love him omg and his character. cause like SAMEE. he is an extroverted leader yet also experiences doubts from time to time. he also believes he can still improve. his hangout is my most fave so far and it was so funny seeing how Yae teases him. also, his playstyle is very fun! i love how he has synergy with itto. i love his character design. also Ittorou best ship

3. Kazuha - the true anemo archon 😩 i didnt care he was clowned during his leaks and release. like i rolled out of love and it's amazing he is the #1 most used and recommended unit for abyss since his release. he is phenomenal. who needs crowd control when enemies get obliterated from ur insane swirl mutlipliers. gosh he's a king and I LOVE his personality and story quest. i hope Tomo gets revived or smth for him. Kazoo deserves a boyfriend

4. Kokomi - she is such a queen. so underrated but I truly believe as time goes, her value will increase. she is an incredible main driver for off-field dpses! in fact she is the best beidou driver rn. Kokomi made electrocharge a viable abyss comp. and besides playstyle, i love her story quest and character. she deserved better writing in the archon quest tbh

5. Yoimiya - she is so cheerful and fun. i super enjoyed her story quest, which was partly a BL too since she was a wingman for two gays djfjf i love her energy and her playstyle is very fun! sure she is no hutao but i've 36'd abyss with her and she is comfy to play too! i cant wait for Yunjin to buff her

6. Zhongli - Geo daddy. i love his personality and his design. he is so attractive. like when i rolled zhongli, i didnt care he wasnt meta or he was considered bad. I love his character djdjd and also im so glad he got buffed cause he is insane. best shielder in the game and i love he is perf with Ittorou team too!

7. Bennett - cheerful benny! for someone who is canonically unlucky, he is the pyro archon and is insane at healing, buffing and even for elemental reaction comps! he truly is incredible and i love using him with Ittorou. also i loove his optimistic personality. and it's amazing how he still has good luck or brings it to those around him even when he doesnt realise it

8. Razor - my wolfboy. benny's boyfriend. although powercrept, he was my main carry from the start until 2.0. my first triple crown. i love how he really cares for you and benny and people he call lupical. his playstyle was fun too! it's nice he has a stand. i sure hope he gets buffed cause he really needs help

9. Ganyu - overworked queen! rjdjjd she's my mood whenever uni term happens gosh i love her personality tbh and her story quest is one of my faves. also i wasnt a Ganyu main but Amos bow chose me so i rolled her. been my mvp since getting her. i love how easy her playstyle is lol and also she's pretty!

10. Scaramouche - i dont know if he will ever be playable omg. but i loove how sadistic he is but also playful like i really love morally grey characters. and after reading his lore in Husk of Opulent Dreams.. damn he can really be set up as a complex character if mhy learns not to do the same mistake with Raiden fjdjd but yeah im manifesting Scara to be playable and to still remain interesting. i love his character design too!

Hello! I am here to inform you that I would happily read a 10 page essay about Alduin's Bane. Spoilers are a highlight. Your Elder Scrolls lore is incredible and I am frothing at the mouth for more.

oh man now i have decision paralysis i have so much to talk about given the fic is over 150k (somehow. i cant believe i wrote that much) uhhhhhh im just gonna give some bullet points of what i can think of

>originally was going to just be a oneshot centered around the past that would have been the first 3-ish chapters but i liked it so much i had continued it

>hell i had debated actually naming eyja or not for a while lol

>originally fengr wasn't going to be in the story, but i actually liked him the more i thought about him. he is supposed to be the archtypical box art "dragonborn" bethesda markets (except two handed weapons instead of dual wielding). i thought he made a good foil and could help drive some of the character development and give eyja more to connect her to the world and also because i wanted to use him as a foil for another character

>i did intend for sheogorath to be the champion of cyrodiil. not everyone agrees with this theory but i liked it. i also hope i did a better job making the quest more interesting. i was really proud of connecting the weird, seemingly disjointed dream world quests to our main character's psyche and problems rather than being just a cheap joke

>i also LOVE sanguine if you couldn't tell. writing him was some of my favorite stuff. genuine chaos and debauchery. he technically had the right idea

>i had a big plan in mind for a side plot where The Gang currently (fengr, serana, eyja, alduin) run into cicero and the listener who were tasked with assassinating the dragonborn and instead ask for their help to take down astrid who they know is planning on turning on them. this was going to lead to a full blown assassination of the current emperor, but for the life of me i couldn't think of a satisfactory way to connect the plot to the rest of the story without feeling like i was forcing a block through a circular hole so it has been indefinitely tabled. if it makes it back in the story then it does but so far i'm not planning on it. but if you're wondering what happened to our dear little jester he is off helping rebuild the dark brotherhood with his wood elf listener

>how she got the mask i just realized i never explained. basically my bullshit reason was she owns the mask. the mask was sealed off to wait for a new owner if one ever came, and then was lost to time. dragon priests arent really supposed to "die" in my telling of events so she got the mask by wandering in and it opened up for her assuming she was the original owner here to claim it. it does not do this for literally anyone else

>alduin kind of fucking sucked at sex. i hint at this in several ways but in their first lifetime he just fucking sucked at it. i cannot fully stress how just bad and clumsy he was. this immortal dragon god of the end of time was a complete virgin and it showed. if it wasn't for the fact he was a god she adored i dont think eyja would have put up with it. but luckily she taught him better.

>as far as dragon priests knew it was an open secret eyja and alduin were fucking. the general public didnt know but most of the priests knew. and most of the dragons but they were more confused by the concept of actually having sex which seemed weird in general

>also to be mentioned: molag bal has beef with alduin and eyja because her mask is actually made of daedric ivory. alduin went "i need a cooler material for her mask to be made out of" and went all the way to a realm of oblivion to kill one of molag bal's big ass daedra. this has lead to much of molag bal's beef with dragons

>several members of the thalmor were investigating the masks (this is canon) and took a particular interest in both eyja's and the time traveling unnamed mask. this wooden mask alduin had made in hopes it could bring eyja back (it failed)

>back to the sati and parvati myths uhhhh part of that has translated to miraak and his motivations. i hope you didn't have "miraak is past life eyja's ex" on your bingo card because you will not be able to check that off. miraak was her father.

>in that regard i had to think a lot about how having kids would be handled by dragon priests. i dont see miraak actually raising any children he had, and he probably had a variety of concubines and wives to sleep with as i imagine most of the other dragon priests did, but no time to actually get attached. so she probably only had some status and little interactions with him prior to this, but boy was miraak mad he couldnt just use her influence for his own gain. idk if i will get to mention all this part in my fic lol

>finding out one of his kids actually inherited his abilities led him down the path to trying to understand what dragonborn were. he thought he was a strange, special existence, but finding out there were more people like him made him wanna find out how they worked. this also invariably led to him experimenting on several of eyja's multitude of half siblings that died prior to him getting his hands on her. also prob wont get to mention all this in the fic

>in this vein i had the idea to make vahlok eyja's other parent but i didn't think it did much for the story so. i might go in the way of "helpful mentor" or just that he didnt fucking suck

About Kazuha, I doubt he's going to die

At around 1:53, Yae says "Some ambitions have the power to heal wounds, to bring victory", then we see Kazuha visiting (most likely) his dead friend's katana, a hydro vision and his dead friend's vision. During the 2.0 trailer, Yae says that to have your vision stolen is the equivalent of having your ambitions robbed. From this I'm going to assume that she believes your vision is similar/equal to your ambition.

The possible outcomes of Baal and Kazuha's duel are

Kazuha winning

Lumine/Aether saves him

Suffering an injury (most likely fatal)

Kazuha winning seems really unlikely to me, as he's only a human while Baal's an archon, though I can't say anything to back this up due to the fact that he don't have much info on Kazuha combat wise in lore. Mid fight La Signora or Scaramouche might take advantage of the situation and steal Baal's gnosis, which would make the fight much easier for Kazuha.

I don't have much to say about Lumine/Aether saving him. Though it'd be the most boring ending out of all the realistic ones that could happen. If this does happen then it's really similar to how Thoma saved MC.

The last one feels like the most likely yet unlikely at the same time. As I said earlier about Yae's lines, when she mentions that some ambition's have the power to heal injuries. Right as she says this a hydro vision embedded in Baal's statue lights up. During the fight if Kazuha does take a lethal hit, this vision could possibly heal him (His own vision could as well), while his friend's dead vision (which is shown when Yae says "To bring victory") could somehow assist him (Maybe we get anemo electro Kazu-). With Tomo's vision saving him there's a lot of holes and gaps in this theory, as we don't know how dead visions are revived, does an archon gift them again or do they wake up by themselves? The closest to a character using two visions is Mona, who used her master's before receiving her own.

Kazuha's eyes do kind of light up purple in the trailer, which could be him reawakening the electro vision, though I can't tell if it's mid fight or not (The light does seem really tame compared to Baal's sword so I'm not sure)

You’re right though, it would be very similar to Thoma but what you said made me wonder. Though Traveler can’t have a vision, could they still get the effects? What if that golden light is their ambition healing them or helping them thru the Baal fight? Eh I don’t speculate much cuz I’m usually wrong but this one time I thought I’d voice my thoughts lol
