ok, so I haven't read despair island, BUT this is my take on how it would go if contestants' lives were on the line. This is going to be a long post, so bear with me.
First off, contestants would take more risks. They can't afford to lose challenges. They would try to kiss up to their teams more. They would be a lot nicer in hopes that their teams would keep them out of friendship.
Not So Happy Campers. Ezekiel still would've been booted first. He's weak, not too smart, and definitely unlikable. BUT ALSO, Courtney and Beth both would not have hesitated to jump off the cliff. DJ might have still not, but Courtney and Beth would rather take the risk. Especially considering everyone else made it and they would have to face the wrath of their teammates.
The Big Sleep. Eva would not have been booted second. Everyone would have thought twice- Eva is a strong competitor, even though rude. She may not be a team player but she doubles the team's strength. Instead, I believe Katie would be voted. She's pretty dumb and weak, not close enough to the other players, and Sadie is likely stronger than her.
Dodgebrawl. Noah may have not been voted third. And when it comes down to life, he might have participated in at least one game of dodgeball. He's not strong, but he is smart. Instead, I think (and I hate to say this) Lindsay would be voted. She's not strong or smart, not a very valuable player. In turn, this would destroy the Heather, making her more vulnerable without her servant.
Not Quite Famous would go similarly and Justin would still be voted.
The Sucky Outdoors. Izzy would still mess around, but the Bass would still lose. Since Katie is already gone, I think Sadie would be the next one out. She didn't play a large role after Katie's elimination in canon, so I think it would be the same in this.
Phobia Factor. The Bass lose again, and Tyler would still be booted. Much like Lindsay, he has no real strength or smarts. I really hate this. I love these characters too much!
Up the Creek. Izzy would definitely still be voted. I mean, she gave the other team the advantage and they cannot risk her staying around.
Paintball Deer Hunter. Obviously, Cody is still voted. Very unfortunate, but the team can't have him hold them back.
If You Can't Take the Heat, Beth still. She cursed them.
Who Can You Trust? Sadie was voted in this, but she's already gone in this AU. DJ majorly messed up by throwing the game taking off his blindfold, and despite his strength, I think he would be next.
Basic Straining. Okay. We all know this is the sabotage. Goodbye Courtney, this makes Harold a lot more villainous. He would be voted otherwise, most likely, so he would still sabotage. This is seriously making me sad I love Courtney.
X-Treme Tourture. Again. The same. Bye-bye Harold (YOU KILLED COURTNEY)
Brunch of Disgustingness. Girls vs. Boys + return. So, they're obviously dead, so no return. No elimination this time.
No Pain, No Game Merge! Eva has to go, she's very strong, mean, and competitive. They can't risk not voting her now.
Search and Do Not Destroy. Trent was voted here, but I don't think anyone is cruel enough to let him go at this point. Even if he cheated. They need to go after THREATS. Who is a threat? Duncan. Duncan is gone.
Hide & Be Sneaky. Heather and Leshawna still get elimination (Heather didn't need Lindsay's help for this or the last one). The girls probably still wouldn't get along, but without Duncan there wouldn't be a guys alliance. I believe Noah would be voted- he isn't strong, but he isn't nice and there aren't any big threats left that they can vote.
That's Off the Chain! Heather DID NOT WIN. She could not have won this without Lindsay in this episode. Whoever won elimination gets by, Heather is gone.
Hook Line, and Screamer. DJ was voted this episode, but he's already gone and all that's left is a giant friend group. I think Owen would be voted, hate to say it. He isn't close enough with the others and is surprisingly good at challenges.
Wawanakwa Gone Wild! Izzy is out this episode, but she isn't here. I think Gwen, Leshawna, and Trent would vote together as they have a very strong bond (and the Heather thing with Trent had time to explain). I think the next one gone would be Geoff.
Trial by Tri-Armed Triathlon. Instead of six like in canon, there's only four campers left. Chris can't really put people who don't get along, so he would do Gwen and Leshawna as well as Bridgette and Trent (Trent can spill about the alliance, Chris wants drama). Gwen and Leshawna would win because they're an overpowered team. It's either Trent or Bridgette going, and due to the alliance, it's Bridgette.
Haute Camp-ture cannot exist, and since there's only 3 competitors left, we should skip to...
I Triple Dog Dare You! When it comes down to dares, it's up to luck with these three. They'll do anything. They don't want to die. The dares, because of this, will be more torturous and brutal. SOMETHING HAS TO BE WORSE THAN DEATH FOR THEM TO GIVE UP! Chances are, Trent is the one losing. He's good, but not as good as Gwen and Leshawna.
And when it comes down to it, Leshawna would beat Gwen at anything.

I know grieving is hard but never thought to see it in real life— a person trying to process everything that already happened.
My workplace is the cold-hard ground where we need to put aside our personal matters and perform as professionals. I’m still surviving from my up-and-down emotions when faced with my patients, but my role model at work is my coworker slash senior vet GP slash supervisor who has already worked in the clinic for fifteen years.
Yeah, fifteen years dealing with patients in the same place and clinic is her comfort zone. She can manage her life beside the clinic— being a good mom for her kids and a good wife. I’m wondering how she is dealing with her emotions but these past months are the roughest for her.
She had her third child early this year, finally— a girl. That little family loves the girl so dearly, so do we as her coworkers who watched (or slightly dealt with) her milestones and her pregnancy. I’m really happy every time she told me about what her child was doing at home while we were at the operation room— because the girl resembled so much the euphoria I saw my sister at home.
But the happiness doesn't last forever, it surely happened so fast like you couldn’t believe it happened. The girl suddenly fell ill and was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma. The 10 months old baby girl went to her first chemotherapy because surgery is not the best yet to perform with her situation. I understand the frustration to watch the one you loved so dearly, especially when your child turned sick. You want the best option for her but the surroundings you were not supported like you wish. I understand her tiredness every time she heard people said to her “you should give her this or that one that is best for cancer.” when you are also frustrated how you saw your child doesn’t have much appetite after chemotherapy.
It was like a downhill after a while— the girl finally stabilized and she went to the seminar but after coming back the girl felt sick more than before. Imagine it like a thunderstorm on the ocean— the girl’s body went weak after chemotherapy and neutrophils storms happened. I ran to the hospital after shift work was done and saw her sitting down at the sofa with her pale face and a blank eyesight— the expression you never saw before on her. I wanted to cry when I saw her—my coworker— as the mother’s child finally said, “Do you want to go inside and say goodbye to her?”
How did you feel when you saw a little baby with an endotracheal tube in her chest and ventilator on for helping breathing, the body covered with thermal blankets to keep her warm, and the monitor you saw the saturations getting drop by time? It was a cold cubicle room full of medical stuff you never wish to see in real life, but now I’m watching her pale face, who suffered so much pain relying on every machine in the room. My mouth went numb as time went by hearing the monitor sound, and I’m not doing anything but watching her silently. I couldn't think of anything else but deep in my heart I said, “Dear little girl, if you can't survive through this hurricane– please go easily. Heaven must love you so much as anyone surrounding you loves you more here.”
And I left the PICU. The morning came and when I grabbed the phone, there’s a little notification saying the little girl was gone. The family held a memorial in another city. My coworker was absent for a week. We were respectful of the situation and when she came back to work, she worked like she used to. Like how she usually works. But I know by just seeing her, the body is here but the soul is in another place. I wish her decision to come back to work is the best and I think work is the solution to keep her thoughts away from grieving.
But I was wrong.
Until when I saw her and her teary eyes looking at her phone– looking up her child’s pictures after work was done and crying silently in the corner of the pharmacy room of the clinic. I’m not believe what my other coworker said until I saw by myself that she cried alone. I thought she could handle it but now she resembles a glass bead– so clear, shine, and easily break.
She is still grieving deep in her heart for a very long time– for sure. I think a few days ago she was telling about how her son cried after waking up dreaming of his little sister and after that said, “How does she never come to me when I am sleeping?” She is still missing her child every day– for sure. Trying to keep the little girl close to her by ordering a necklace with the pendant filling a tiny bit of the little girl’s hair. She is still feeling sad when she opens her social media and sees an ad, fundraising, or story about a child doing chemotherapy and then rapidly closes her phone. She is still wishing the little girl is still in this world, but unfortunately is not.
The little girl named Marianne is already gone in the middle of November when the christmas are close to celebrate. Marianne, be happy for your mom up there. Please be happy up there, and please come to her dream. She misses you a lot, alright?

White Lies (Pt. 15 of 21)
Pairing: Keanu Reeves X Reader
Word count: 1.8 K
Summary: Keanu found the girl almost dead, in the wrecks of what was once her car. While she was in surgery, stuck in a coma, he gathered the best doctors of New York to attend to her. They told him she is likely to have some kind of brain damage, what may lead to memory loss. And this possibility added up wit the fact that she's pregnant, made the council come up with an odd idea. They asked Keanu to pretend to be her husband, since the stress of finding out everything that happened could put the baby in danger. He reluctantly agreed, but only if she does has some kind of memory loss. He still goes she'll wake up soon, with her memories intact.
But when you finally wake up, there's nothing inside. You're quick to find your head is empty, void, like a blank canvas. The only thing that brings you some relief, that makes you feel less lonely is the mention of a husband. And you can't wait to meet him, because you know you can't deal with this by yourself.

The War Between The Mind And The Heart
At the hotel room, you cry on Laura's shoulder. She knew it, of course she did, but despite being furious at her too, you need someone. And you can't call Lucia, even though you know she's the grandmother of your child.
Yesterday, you couldn't sleep. The night was a nightmare, a torture, as you stared into the darkness with memories filling your head. All of them have Keanu in it. And they were good. When the morning finally came, you called Laura and she ran here, made you eat something as you cried and yelled and sobbed. Your head hurts, your throat is sore, and you feel like shit.
“I can't believe he did that. I trusted him with all my heart.” It comes out barely a whisper and you dry your eyes for the hundredth time with a tissue.
“(Y/N), you need to listen to me now,” Laura says, holding both your hands on hers. “You already vented and I listened. But now I must explain what happened.”
You don't think you want to listen. During the night, you even considered going to Argentine with Lucia as soon as the baby is ready to travel. But the very thought of being so far from Keanu crushed your heart, and you felt stupid to hold such felling. So now, you don't know what to do. From your position, back resting on the headrest of the bed, surrounded by pillows, you weakly nod. “Why did he lie to me, Laura? Why did you lie to me?”
She takes a deep breath before speaking. “Keanu found your car, (Y/N). You were bleeding, almost dead. And during the two weeks you were in a coma, the doctors found me, and I was in some of the meetings they had to explain your condition. Keanu paid for the best care, so they were fully dedicated to you. And this story was their idea.” Reaching out her hand, she wipes a tear away. “Daniel died only a week before the accident, and that was the reason behind it. You were sad, crying, with the pregnancy test in your bag, so you got overwhelmed in the road and crashed.” Laura makes a small pause as if gathering her thoughts. “Dr. Wright told us back there was a high chance you'd have some kind of brain damage, memory loss. So they asked Keanu if he could... Play this role, putting it in their words. Any kind of stress would put the baby in even more danger, and they thought you'd feel better to know you had someone with you.”
Looking down at your hands, you think about this new information. So Keanu didn't pull this off by himself. You get it now, why some instructions were meant to him. But still, you don't know what to think.
“He didn't want to do it. I was there when he said it wouldn't be fair to you.” Laura squeezes your hand a little. “But both you and the baby could die depending on how you'd receive the news. So he accepted.”
“But Laura, I... I fell for him. Call me an idiot, but I did.” Your voice breaks, and you try really hard not to sob again. “And the worst part is that I still love him. What am I supposed to do now?”
“Keanu fell in love with you too.” She speaks slowly as if knowing it would make you break down a little more. And it does. With both hands covering your face, you cry all over again. “And yes, I spoke to him about it. He... He wanted to tell you everything after your trip to Miami, but he couldn't.”
“Why are you helping him?” You mutter, holding back a sob.
“I'm just telling you the truth. All of it.” Moving to sit beside you, she hugs one of the spare pillows. “After the... The first time you slept together was the first time Keanu called me. Before it was always me calling to get some updates on your condition.” Turning your head to look at her, you put a strand of hair behind your ear. “He was feeling so guilty, he couldn't believe what he did.”
“What did he say?”
“He cursed himself for not stopping. For keeping the lie for so long. He was about to tell you everything but I had to stop him because the doctors were still worried about your state.”
There's a war happening inside you. Your brain tells you to forget Keanu, to move away from New York, to hate him for all the lies. But the heart, wild creature, says otherwise. It aches for him, it calls, it longs for him. And you want to cave in.
“I hate that I love him.” You mumble, hands caressing your belly. This isn't how you thought the pregnancy would end.
“Can I... Can I ask you something? On Keanu's behalf?” Laura speaks low, and you furrow your eyebrows before looking at her. “I know he's not the father, but he does love your child as if he was... So, please... If you do love him, even if you hate the way you feel, don't take the child away from him. At least... At least let him visit, wherever you decide to go, if you decide to go somewhere else.”
Her words make more tears roll down. It may not be fair with Daniel, but you do wish Keanu was the father. Liam knows his voice, as well as he knows yours. Ever since the obstetrician said the baby could listen and was able to distinguish the voices, you both started talking even more to the bump. You wonder if he'd miss Keanu as much as you already do.
“I don't know what to do... Liam's bedroom is there.” Your home is there, with him. “Tell me what to do, Laura. And I'll do it.” Begging, you run a hand through your hair.
“I can't. You must figure that out by yourself.” Laura bumps her shoulder against yours playfully. “Have you spoken to Lucia?”
“I still don't like her.”
“You never did.” She adds, giggling. “Neither did Daniel. But I believe she'll head back to Argentina after the baby is born and maybe call once a month and visit on Christmas. But other than that she'll disappear.”
You probably shouldn't feel so relieved, but that's exactly the feeling that washes over you. “Laura... What... Did Keanu had any plans? For what he'd do after telling me the truth?” This is something you've been wondering all night, but still, you're not sure you want to know. But now that the words left your mouth, and there's no way you can take them back.
“(Y/N), Keanu wants to marry you.” Laura's voice gets lower, and as she stares at you, your eyes are glued to the blue wall across the room. “A real wedding. A ceremony, a party... Everything. But he was expecting this.”
“Expecting what?” You burst out.
“That you would never want to meet him again.”
Shaking your head lightly, you look at your hands. Could you even do that? Would you have the strength to stay away from him? It's only been a night and half the day, but you already miss him. “I don't know what to do... And I don't really have much time to think.”
“How close is the baby?”
“Very close. This is week 38, so the doctors said I should be prepared even though it may still take a week or two.” Both your hands lay on your belly, huge and swollen. It started to lower a little, and you know it's another sign that your time is coming. And that makes more tears fill your eyes. “I'm so scared, Laura...”
“I can imagine.” Putting an arm around your shoulders, she kindly smiles. “You know you have me, right? Call and I'll get here as fast as I can. And if you want, you can stay with me. The apartment isn't big and I don't have space for an extra bedroom for the baby but you'll be welcome and we'll make it work.”
“Thank you, Laura.” Crying again, you hug her the best you can with your belly getting in the way.
“You're welcome, honey.” She let go of you, and you take a deep breath. “I'll have to go now, I have a client on the other side of city and it's a hell of a long drive. Will you be ok?”
“Yes.” You won't, but you can't tell her that. “I'll call you if anything happens.”
“Alright, honey.” After some more goodbyes, Laura leaves and you're left alone again.
The silence is deafening. This damn hotel room makes you feel sick, so you lock yourself in the bathroom to take a long shower. It doesn't help. The tears and the water become one, and you can't tell the difference. There's this heavy feeling in your chest, like you're suffocating. Everything you knew ever since you woke up is a lie. Liam is the only real thing, and now, he won't have a father.
“Do you miss him too, baby?” You ask him, voice so weak you can barely hear yourself above the spray of water.
You wish he could answer, you wish some kind of miracle happened to push you in the right direction... And you know, deep inside, that your heart wants this path to lead back to Keanu.
An hour later, you're leaving the bathroom with the towel wrapped around your body, using another to finish drying your hair. Standing by the bed, you pick some clothes from your open baggage, choosing something comfortable to sleep in. Then suddenly, a sharp pain rips through your abdomen, moving down your thighs and back. Bending over, you bite down a groan. When the pain is starting to fade away, you feel something flowing down your thighs, soaking the floor under your feet.
You freeze, trying to process what happened. Moving away from the puddle, you sit on the bed using the towel, still damp because of your hair, to clean your legs the best you can, but another wave of pain comes, making yell this time. It's happening. It's happening right now and you're completely alone. Laura is too far away, and you don't want to call Lucia.
You could call 911. Or the reception, they'd find a way to help, but there's only one person in the world you need right now. And despite your brain telling you not to give in so easily, the pain is becoming greater, ripping through your body, and it feels like you broke a bone on your hip.
Sucking in a sharp breath, you reach for your phone on the nightstand, struggling a little since your sight is all blurry by the tears. When you find his number, you make the call, lying down and pulling your feet up.
“(Y/N)?” He sounds weird, voice weak and sad. But you don't have time to overthink, to try and find answers. You need him immediately. You're about to answer when the pain hits again, and you yell, voice breaking into a cry in the end. “(Y/N), what's going on?”
“My water broke.” You mutter, breathing heavily. “I need you.”

Out there (pt.1)
Crowley x reader (Tangled au)
Summary: our story begings with a house, an archangel, a thief and a girl
Warning: none
Ok so I lied I have like two more hours till tomorrow so why not
Also extreamily sorry for lying about doing requests something came up and I'm exhausted
~~~~~~
This is a story about two very different being from two very different world's.
But before we can even begin this story we need to go back.
Back to when the earth was still fairly new. And a beautiful young lady walked through the market. She was no one important. Just a simple young lady who lived in the village. Her name is unknown yet Her role in this story is more important than you would think.
And while in the same market a strong handsome angle walked amongst the people of this new village admiring everything in his way. His name is also unknown.
But though there roles in this story are important. It's not about them.
It's about what came of them. They fell in love in that market. And for many months hid this love from the world. The only issue was that they couldn't do much hiding after the woman have birth to a beautiful little girl.
Now you may think it's a wonderful thing an angel and a human in love and having a child together. And yes it is a wonderful thing but also a forbidden one.
This child born from both human and Angel was known as a Nephilim. And as far as heaven was consented they where a big no no.
The Angel knew this but despite knowing this acted as a proud father and showed his new daughter to the world.
Catching the eyes of a few humans who were power Hungry and a few angels who where appalled that one of their own had created such a being.
Humans came for the child attempting to steal Her for her abilities they knew she would possess. Angels came from heaven to kill the child.
They even created a special dagger to do so. But both parents had done an excellent job of keeping her safe.
Until of course as they slept in the next room there daughter sound asleep in the next room someone lurked from with in.
This was the archangel Gabriel armed with the Nephilim dagger.
But instead he stopped considering the child's ability himself. He dropped the dagger losing it for centuries now.
He stole the baby with ease and hid her from both humans and angels.
Though this may sound like it was in her best interest. It wasn't.
Gabriel taught her how to use Her ability to heal at an early age. And yes he was an angel and needed no sort of healing he found that when she used her abilities on him they made him stronger.
He became greedy and built a sturdy home far from anyone on earth to keep her hidden.
Angels lost sight of the child after the home was put together and humans Now were unaware of her.
It is also important to know that this child was you.
And you are where our story really begins.
You hosted yourself up on some overgrown vines that grew on the stone wall's surrounded your house. Your house was two stories tall yet the wall that surrounded it almost doubled it's night.
"Shit!" our foot slipped on one of the stones but you continued to climb.
You finally reached the top and pulled yourself up smiling Out at the forest.
You cupped your hands around your mouth and let out a joyous scream.
For the amount of times you had climbed up this wall to look out into the forest while Gabriel was away it never got old.
"Y/n!!?"
You turned around to face the house. "Y/n! Where are you my Angel?"
As soon as you reached the top you were forced to come back down. You grabbed hold of one of the vines and slid down it running inside to meet your father. "Hi dad!" he grinned when he saw you and opened his arms and you quickly ran into them to hug him.
"Where were you?"
"Oh you know just out in the garden…"
He smiled and pulled away from the hug and wondered to the sitting room.
You took a deep breath and smiled. "Well anyways uh dad there's something I need to -"
"Ugh you wouldn't believe what I had to go through today!" you stopped and took a seat in your chair ready to listen to him rant about some Angel who stopped Armageddon and failed to burn when he punished him.
"Wow I'm sorry to hear that but dad it's really important-"
"Y/n dear I'm feeling a little drab would you mind recharging me? I promise as soon as your done I'm all ears."
"Sure!" You quickly scooted closer and took, his hands and started humming to help you focus on what you wanted to heal. Slowly a bright yellow glow appeared from your palms, it slowly moved up his arms through his veins.
He sighed feeling much more rejuvenated and smiled at you as you folded your hands in your lap. "Thank you sweetie. Now what did you want to talk to me about?"
"Well I'm sure you know what's coming up!"
"I'm very much aware yes."
"Well I was kinda sorta hoping...and I don't see why you would say no…"
"Y/n the mumbling what is it with humans and the mumbling? It's not hard to not do it just speak clearly."
"Right sorry well I was hoping that maybe You could take me out? We could go shopping and get lunch?..."
He furrowed his brows at you and stood up. "You want to go out there? Absolutely not."
You looked at him in shock. "Please! I know if you are there with me I'll be just fine!" Gabriel rolled his eyes and began to walk away. "Dad please you have to understand! I can't keep living my life through books! I need to experience it myself!"
"Y/n you know why your here!"
You stood up and followed behind him. "Yes but-"
"You wouldn't last a day out there! Listen to your father it's a...a scary world out there!"
"Well maybe-"
"One way or another something will go wrong I swear! So you will stay here with me!"
You continued to follow him through the house attempting to reason with him.
"Please! Just one day! That all-"
"ENOUGH WITH LEAVING ALREADY I SAID NO!" Your breath got caught in your throat as he turned and snapped at you. "Great...now I'm the bad guy…"
You gulped and looked down. "No don't say that...your just trying to keep me safe."
Gabriel sighed and made his way too you and lifting your face to look at him.
"You know I love you."
You chuckled lightly and hugged him. "I love you more."
"I love you most." he kissed the top of your head and pulled away. "I have a but more work to do but I'll be home shortly.be good."
"Always." you smiled and said your goodbyes before he left you alone. You walked up to your room sitting in the bay window seat looking out at the wall.
Meanwhile a demon was on the run from two other demons. The one running is our second half of this story. His name, is Crowley and he's currently running from the other two demons who are called Hastur and Ligur two dukes of hell. He's running because he has stolen something very valuable to hell.
And he's stolen it because a book told him so. A book his dear friend Aziraphale (an angel) owned told him too.
He dumped the Bentley just outside of Soho hoping to throw them off his trail. He however was in certain how he managed to be running through a forest past tadfield.
He glanced behind him checking that they weren't there and without realizing ran head first into a stone wall. "What the heaven!?" He sat up looking at it.
"Crowley!? You can't fool us that easily!"
His eyes widened at the voice from with in the woods. He snapped his fingers and a door appeared allowing him to step through.
As soon as he was sure the door was gone He turned to face the house. He sighed and quickly stepped inside. "Hallo?...anyone home?"
He stepped further into the house looking around. He sighed again when no one answered. He started pulling his phone out to call aziraphale but something hit him in the back of the head knocking him out.
Happy Mothers Day, Dad.
Elizabeth came home from school with a rather dark cloud over her head, the topic today had her bummed out for a while. What made the day worst was Father not being home. At least Aunt Evie's here.
"Hello, Elizabeth." Evie greets in her chair as Ellie entered and sat on Evie's bed. Evie can tell something isn't right. "Is something wrong?" She asked.
Ellie nodded a little, "Where's Dad?" Oh, no wonder. She just missed Jacob already, Evie was a little worried that something happened at school. The last thing she wanted was Jacob busting into the school and causing mayhem until he found the one upsetting her and may have to move her to another school... again. Would he go that far? Oh defiantly, without a doubt. A side Evie never knew of him, she finds it adorable to see him over protective for a child but won't admit it to him.
"Today's mothers day... everyone talked about their mothers and I... well... I don't have a mother... not anymore..." Ellie hates thinking of the past, today it just brought her back to where she had it all to when she lost everything. Evie leans back in her chair, she couldn't help but think of her as Jacob when he was a child. All they had was a father but unlike Elizabeth, they have never had the chance to meet their mother.
Evie had no idea what is worst, having to lose a mother with or without knowing who they are. Actually they were both as bad. A slight story of the man Ellie calls father could cheer her up.
"You know, that brother of mine dreads the day for the exact same reason when he was young. In fact he made it sound like we had mother when people ask what he was going to get her on Mothers Day."
Ellie looks up at her with sadden but curious eyes. Evie relaxed in her seat a little more as she flicks through memory lane.
"Every after school on Mothers Day Jacob would pick flowers. A bunch of them too. He'd turn around, ripped cheeks and asks me if mother would like them all of the time. Hmph... you should see that smile and his eyes brighten when I say 'Of course she will'. Then he'd put them outside somewhere, hoping she come home... little did we know... we found out that she wasn't coming home."
"What happened?... why didn't she come back?"
Evie took in a deep breath and exhaled shakingly. "Well... we discovered that she passed away well before we even had a chance to see her or grow up with her. All we had was a Grandmother, then a Father... eventually we only have each other."
Looking at the young girl, it was clear that she wasn't very happy about the topic. It would be best if Evie left it as it is. She got out of her chair and ruffles Ellie's light hazel hair. "Don't worry about it, love. Jacob has you now, I'm sure that's all he needs, a child to be a child with. And besides, today is only a day to appreciate the one who loves you no matter what you do in your life."
Now that statement got little Ellie thinking, a day to appreciate the one who loves you no matter what?... an idea came to her head, it may seem ridiculous but yet brilliant. And there was only one person in this cold world that brought her in and raised her well.
"Evie? Could I ask you a favour, please?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was dark and late by the time Jacob arrived back at the train hideout. He was beaten by a rollercoaster of emotions, making his journey home an absolute mission. He said what had to be said to his Mum, he's home now and Ellie should be asleep. That's all that matters now.
He always goes through Evie's car to get to his, he found it easier from some reason. He was completely taken back to see Evie bright eyed and bushy tailed.
"Brother! You're back! Oh! And by the way... Ellie has a surprise for you."
To you there should be no reason to freak out about it, but it's Jacob after all. Yes, he's usually carefree as ever. When it comes to those he hold dearly to him it's a totally different story. "Evie! You know that she can't be up THIS late! Not even a minute over her bedtime!-"
Evie just rolled her eyes at her twin, he's such a motor mouth when scolding her. This was just first gear.
"Jacob..."
"If she doesn't get at least 6 hours of sleep, she'll have insomnia!-" second gear, it was getting faster.
"Jacob!..."
"And with her having insomnia means bad health!-" third gear. At this point words end up clashing together.
[I]"And with bad health she'll be unhappy!And a unhappy child means horrible paren-"
Evie stops him right there by cupping either sides of his cheeks to shut him up. Wow, he is really paranoid today. "Jacob!!... just calm down. I know that you're tired and having a bad time right now. Which is why the girl is up still."
Evie slightly flicks her head towards the door that lead to his carriage, indicating him to go in as she lets go of him. He was curious now, whatever the reason for Ellie to be up so... so called late is beyond him. It must be worth while.
"....fine. But don't make a-"
Evie had enough of his scolding and just shoves him in his carriage. "My god! Jacob! It's just for one bloody night!"
"Ach! Okay, okay! Just stop pushing me!"
Finally booting him inside his own car, dimly lit by a few candles. There was Ellie standing right there in front of him nervously for some odd reason. It alerts him in the wrong way as ever.
"Hey, sweetheart. What's the matter? Nobody's been picking on you, have they?!"
Ellie just hums, well more like a shy growl as she waddles towards him with a small box wrapped in pretty wrapping paper. It wasn't his birthday yet... or did he forget again? How can he forget if he shares the same birthday as Evie? He got down on his knees to get to her eye level.
"What's all of this for?" He asked.
Little Ellie looks at Evie, doubting if this is going to work or not. Evie just nods and mouths "Go ahead... you got it."
Looking back at her Dad, she inhaled deeply and brought the box up to him. He still had no idea what's going on, he was utterly confused and worried that he had missed something while he was gone.
"Happy Mother's day, Dad..." she looks at him with a small smile. "... I love you."
His reaction was nothing but shock, mother's day?... for him? Jacob isn't a mother? Is that what Ellie thought of him this whole time? A mother? It made no difference really. Practically Jacob had been both roles in parenting, firm and strict yet loving and playful.
No matter the reasons for this, it meant the entire world to him. He couldn't help but embrace the girl tightly. It wasn't a day for him, this wasn't his day at all. And here is his little girl making her own rules up just for him. It wasn't as much as the things he did for her, but it never matters to him. Every little thing she does was something huge.
The girl wraps her arms around his neck, cuddling her head against his. "You didn't have to do this, darling. It's Mother's Day, not Father's Day." he spoke softly. Ellie just fiddled with his hair and hums,
"We both lost someone without having the chance to say goodbye..." she pulls away just to look at him, her small hands held either sides of his stubble cheeks. "...But it's okay! Because you got me and it's my job to take care of you. Leave the worrying to me."
Ellie was far too young to understand what point she was aiming for, to Jacob it made perfect sense. Even if she was repeating exactly what he told her many times before. It just meant that she knew what he means and believed he could care for her. Having that just made the struggles of being a better Father more rewarding. As firm and strict as he may seem, under that heart of thin layer of stone was gold being melted by this young girl he gladly and gratefully calls his own daughter.
A small yawn had brought him back to earth, she laid her head on his shoulder. He could feel her weight against him, a clear indication of tiredness. He wrapped his arms around her waist and stood up, hoisting her off the floor. "Alright, alright, I think it's time for bed now." He spoke softly to her as he carried her over to the couch and laid her down ever so gently. She was already asleep, he tucks her in and kissed her forehead like he had done all for all of these years.
If there was one thing he could ask for out of life is to just watch her age up well, of course he wants her to be this little sweet girl that constantly looks at him for guidance. Picking up her little gift up from the floor, he knew what it is already. With a tear of paper, he was right. Simply it was a box of chocolates, from there he knew that she always will be his sweet child.
A small sniffle brought his attention to Evie. Jacob gave an airy laugh at seeing her all emotional, something he hasn't seen for a very long time. He approached her with the box full of sweets.
"Here, look. Have some sweets, the best cure for feeling better."
She just shook her head with a small smile, looking at him with teary. She didn't say anything, not a single word at all. Instead she went up to her brother to bring him into an embrace. It had completely taken him by surprise, girls seems to be brilliant at it, that he figured out growing up with her. The night was filled with soft laughter coming out of the carriage of Jacob Frye as the train rocked, rolled and went on riding through the City of London as Evie said,
"I think I've seen enough sweets for a day, thanks to you two."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: Yeah, Mothers Day for me (well it was) annnd I thought "Damn, wouldn't it be cute if a child did something for their solo father?" BOOM!! Thought of little Elizabeth and Jacob straight away.
Anyways, Happy Mother's Day to all of the mum's out there. Hope ya'll treat her well, if you have a solo dad than show him a little appreciation too coz... why not!
Time Is Everything
Warnings: Infinity War spoilers, angst, death.
A/N: This turned out sadder than I thought it would be, sorry!
Summary: After Thanos wipes out half of the universe, Tony tells them what Strange told him and you understand what he meant. Someone must go back in time to save everyone, but in doing so the person must sacrifice themselves. You are the only one with powers that allow you to travel in time, so you do it without telling your boyfriend Steve the price.
Word Count: 2270
“Oh god” Steve exclaimed sitting next to Vision's dead body.
“there must be a way to fix this” you told the others.
“there isn't. We lost. Vision's dead, Wanda's dead, B- Bucky and half of our planet is gone” Steve lost all hope which wasn't in his nature.
“Hey, hey” you noticed the pain he was feeling and hugged him. He put his head on your chest and cried, you held him tightly and kissed his head trying to stay strong for him.
You stayed in Wakanda with the rest of the team, helping the injured and rebuilding what was destroyed. But the truth is, Steve didn't want to leave because he wasn't ready to face the world yet.
After a week Tony arrived with robot looking girl. You haven't seen him in two years. You and Tony were close, but after you chose to side with Steve you lost contact. You were very happy to see him now, even Steve was. They put their differences aside and were ready to work together again.
“Tony” you ran to hug him. At first he was surprised that you were glad to see him, then he hugged back.
“Long time no see... This is Nebula... She's Thanos' daughter, but she's an ally” he introduced.
“Hey, I'm y/n. Nice to meet you” you shook her hand “come on, let me show you around” you guided them.
“Babe, look who's here” you entered the lab where Steve was.
He looked up and stood in silence.
“Captain” Tony greeted.
“Stark” he greeted back “I thought you were dead”.
“Well I'm here, so... who's left of the team?” Tony asked.
“Me, y/n, Bruce, Nat, Thor, Rhody and you apparently” he informed him.
“everyone else-”
“dead. They'll all dead” he looked down.
“I'm sorry for your loss” Tony apologized.
“Wasn't that spider boy with you?” you asked.
“He's dead too and it's my fault” Tony regretted.
“I'm sorry and it's not your fault. All of this is Thanos' fault. So instead of blaming yourselves, let's work on a plan to defeat him” you suggested.
“There's no defeating him now. He's got all of the stones, he wiped out half of the universe and he's gone” Tony said.
“Now you sound like Steve. What's wrong with you? Both of you are not likely to give up that easily. You're always optimistic and hopeful, what happened to that?” you asked them.
“what do you want me to do, huh? There's literally nothing to be done. He's gone and we have nothing to find him and have no way of defeating him, unless you have a plan you'd like to share” Steve said.
“No, I don't. But we'll figure it out. We always do” you had hope.
“what happened to you? You were always a pessimist, what changed?” Tony asked.
“apparently, we changed roles. Someone has to have hope for the rest of the team. And if you or Steve won't then I'll have to. But it'll be helpful if you started to think about a plan with me” you explained.
“Wait... I remembered something, but I didn't understand it, maybe you can. So I met this wizard called Strange, I know it's strange. He was responsible for the time stone and saw the past and future. Out of all the possibilities and scenarios, there's only one where we win against Thanos. He said if it came down to me, P- Peter and the Stone, he wouldn't hesitate to save the stone, yet when Thanos was about to kill me, he gave him the stone in order to save my life. He said we're in the end game now. Before he died, he told me it was the only way, what does that even mean?” Tony told you everything that Stephen said.
“you said he had the time stone and he can see the future and the past. He saw only one scenario where we'd win...what- what if he meant for us to travel back in time?” you asked.
“what? That's impossible. No one has done that before and there's no time machine. This isn't a movie y/n” Tony didn't want to believe.
“why not? We have miracles all around. Five years ago, we wouldn't have believed there were other species. Thor, Loki, Thanos, you” you pointed at Nebula.” And then you created something Ultron and Vision. Let's not forget about all these mutants and what everyone posses is a miracle alone” you tried to convince him.
“so what are you saying? We go back in time and safe the world, but how do you want to do that honey?” Steve asked.
“I don't know yet, but at least now we actually have a plan. It's better than nothing” you sighed.
“how do you plan to find one y/n? Let's face it, you're in denial and refuse to accept the fact that we've been defeated” Steve held your face in his hands.
“where there's a will, there's a way. And I'm not in denial. I know we've been defeated, but Thanos won the battle, not the war. You're the one who's refusing to accept that there's a way” you looked him in the eyes but he turned away.
“Alright, alright. I believe in you and if you believe that then I'll support you” he kissed your forehead.
“I have an idea. What about the guy that was with this ant guy, the creator?” Tony asked.
“This might actually work. With the technology we have here and the knowledge of this guy, we might pull it off”.
The plan worked and there was a thing like a time machine, but this was much more complicated. It needed someone who can survive extreme coldness, luckily, that was your power.
“y/n, do you have a second?” Tony called you.
“yeah sure, what's up?” you asked.
“I need you to come with me to the lab” he lead the way and you followed. His voice was soft and there was sadness in it.
“Ms. Y/l/n” Dr. Hank greeted.
“Doctor! Is there something wrong?” you noticed the looks between the two of them.
“There's a thing you have to know about this device. It will take you back and you'll be able to save everyone, but I'm afraid that you- you're not gonna make it, I'm sorry” he apologized.
“Oh, my body can take the coldness, don't worry” you assured him.
“Y/n, that's not it” Tony looked sad.
“wearing this device, will kill you. The chemicals in it will poison your blood. But because you can freeze things, it will give you enough time to make everything right. I'm afraid if you do this, you won't be coming back” Hank explained.
“Oh... I see... It's alright, the price of freedom is high, it always has been. And it's a price I'm willing to pay, if it saves my friends and the world” you expressed.
“You don't have to do this” Tony told you.
“I want to. Winning always comes with consequences. It's alright. Just do me a favor and don't tell Steve” you told them.
“whatever you need”.
- - -
“it's time” you nervously smiled.
“hey, everything is going to be alright” Steve put his hands on your shoulders and tried to calm you down.
“I know” you sighed.
“We're all depending on you. We only got one shot” Tony reminded you.
You said farewell and hugged all of them. Now it was time to say goodbye to Steve. This was the hardest part. You tried to hide the tears and faked a smile.
“this is it” you said.
“I'll see on the other side” he kissed your forehead.
“I love you. I want you to remember that. I always will” you kissed him goodbye and hugged him one last time.
He noticed you hugging him tighter than usual “Hey, it's gonna be alright. This is not the end” he reassured you.
“It's not for you. Be happy” you took a step back and tried to memorize this picture. It was almost all of your friends standing, smiling and waving at you.
You were able to defeat Thanos with the other device Dr. Hank, Bruce, Shuri and Tony made.
You felt proud and tired. You just saved the world. You hoped everything is fine as you reached the ocean. It was cold, just like you liked it. You floated on the surface and watched the sun set one last time, before closing your eyes forever.
- - -
Steve has been walking in circles for the past few hours. He was worried about you.
“Come see this cap” Tony called him and he followed.
He saw Bucky alive, he rushed to hug him and a smile was placed on his face.
“she did Tony, she saved us all” Steve said in excitement.
“Yes, she did” sadness took over Tony's face.
“what's wrong?” suddenly the smile fell of Steve's face. He felt it. Something was not right with you.
“It's y/n” he exclaimed.
“what about her Tony?” Steve slightly raised his voice.
“she's- she's gone Steve” Tony informed him.
“what do you mean gone? She'll come back, just give her time” Steve asked.
“you don't understand... she's dead” Tony told him.
“no no no, don't say that. You don't know that. She'll come back, you'll see” Steve didn't want to believe that, even though his heart, mind and guts are telling him that you are. He could feel it but denied it.
“I do know that. The device contained deadly chemicals that once inserted in the body, death's certain. With her it was slower, her power gave her enough time to defeat Thanos. That's why it had to be her. Anyone else would've died before reaching Thanos. She knew she was going to die and she asked me to not tell you until after. She wrote you a letter” Tony explained and handed him the letter.
“No...” tears were filling Steve's eyes and he was angry that he punched Tony in the face.
Tony didn't stop him, he knew the pain he was feeling. Steve sat on the ground and put his head in his hands.
“this isn't happening”.
Tony and Bucky sat next to him, trying to comfort him.
- - -
“you're gonna have to read the letter sooner or later Steve...These were her lasts words to you. Don't you wanna know what she wrote?” Bucky urged him to read it.
“No. Reading it means that this is the last thing I'll hear from her. It means no more y/n. I can't” he informed him.
“If you don't read it, I'll do it for you” Bucky warned.
Later that night, Steve was sitting on the bed, in your shared room. Your scent was still on the bed, your clothes on the chair. You were messy and that used to make him argue with you. This time he was glad to see your shirt on the chair, he even smiled and remembered every time he argued with you.
“why did you have to leave me? I have so much to tell you. I want to apologize for every time I hurt you. I love you y/n” he muttered to himself and decided to read the letter.
“Dear Steve,
By the time you read this, I'll be long dead. I'm sorry I didn't tell you but if I did you would've never let me go. I needed to do this. The world is now safer. Bucky is back, so that should make you smile again. He's there for you, Tony too. Don't keep things to yourself. Don't try to hide your emotions. Talk to them about it. Don't blame yourself, this was my choice. I love you Steve Grant Rogers, I always have, always will. I want you to move on, find a sweet girl, get married and have children. I know you've always wanted to start a family, I'm sorry we didn't have the time to do so. Be happy my love. Don't let my death be a reason for your sadness. It would break my heart to know that. I saw the ring, I would've said yes. Don't feel guilty for not proposing earlier. Now you get the chance to start over. Just don't forget about me. We'll meet again in the after life, just don't die so early. I need time to miss you, so we'd have an emotional reunion haha. I'm sorry, I shouldn't be making jokes, I'm dying and you're probably in pain. Let go captain and be happy. I'll always be with you my love.
Your y/n.”
He had mixed emotions after reading this. He knew you wanted him to be happy and smile but he couldn't, at least not now.
