cheese - yes same, i liked it but that was all there was, it wasnt a super standout track. it was rlly underwhelming for me but some of the hook is super catchy so there is Redemption (tm) in store for cheese maybe

thunderous - mmm, yeah at first i totally agreed, i think they suffer from too much good music syndrome, that all their other tracks are such fucking bops its hard to stay at that level of perfection. the choreo was beautiful tho and tbh, the track has grown on me since ive been watching all the vids abt it. its my brothers favourite track

domino - YES GODAMMIT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE TITLE TRACK. the raps, the vocals, the vibes, the fucking domino sound in the back? i would have streamed that shit on repeat. but tbh, as good as it is, it doesnt have that sort of grandness/oomph that skz seems to like in their title tracks so i can see why they chose thunderous (tho domino would have been so good) *sigh*

ssick - yeah same, not my fave track by a long mile, the crowd cheering was a ?strange? choice and the chorus was a bit bare/empty, plus like i mentioned earlier, it was kinda funny to me for some reason but ill still play it if im playing thru the whole album

the view - ahh one of those not like other girls (/j) i honestly think its just a good party song, just a bop to play in the background when nobodys rlly paying much attention. its pretty generic pop music but catchy

sorry, i love you - hehe yeah i thought it was going to be sadder as well, but i rlly loved the fact that they all just got to sing, which almost never happens, i dont think ive heard felix sing for a long time, so i enjoyed it. wasnt rlly a standout track but i just casually like it. looking forward to the fic haha

silent cry - this song i swear, some bits are rlly good and then others are just? why?? it does sound like a dance song tho idk. definitely not one of my faves either

secret secret - YES its so good! its such a chill song and i love their vocals in it. the combination of lo-fi/fake strings backup stuff and their heavenly vocals just makes it *chefs kiss* im listening to it rn and just... its so beautiful. it gives me pumped up another day vibes ya know? like my pace is edgy get cool, this one is energetic another day i feel like. overall i love it

STAR LOST - ah thats so cool! i didnt know that! on first listen this song had a similar vibe to secret secret but then the beat came in and ahh its such a good song. i can totally imagine them putting this song to a concert footage vid, this song is so sweet.

red lights - LMAO YES ITS SO AWKWARD WHY DOES IT GO ON FOR SO LONG ah thats good! yeah good point, its quite intense hehe. but that is my fave trope and this is lowkey my favourite track on the album so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just the combination of hyunjins and chans voices, the backing music, the lyrics ahh red lights my beloved

surfin’ - yes lmao its always a shock, i feel like they should have put gone away in between them, but its such a fun cute song, i cant get rlly mad. yeah, as an aussie i think im contractually obligated to like beaches lol. sand im not such a fan of, but my familys rlly into fishing and my brother loves bodyboarding so we stay at a beach house at least twice a year and we live like 5 mins from 3 different beaches (hehe all aussie cities are on the coast lol) so thats cool. do you like beaches?

gone away - ah gone away my beloved, i love this song sm, its just so pure and showcases their vocals and lyrics so well. yes the pitch change is very out of the blue, i feel liek they went directly from seungmins soft vocals to hans powerful ones which was an interesting choice, but hey, im not complaining

wolfgang - YES IKR ah im so happy he got to be included in that era and song. yeah its such a full on song i cant rlly listen to it if im in a quiet mood but its very motivating :)

hehe mood, i hope they do! ahhh no rest, but at least you wont have to pull a blink and wait a year for any word from the group lol. im not rlly into nct but im excited for them! ah hopefully youll be able to sneak some rest into that chaotic schedule, with enhypen (idk if u stan but yeah) squeezed into it haha

oh my god. based on my experience on the collabs i've joined before, writing explicit shit for '01 & '02 is not accepted (nct's maknaes) but with enha's hyung line '01 & '02 somehow it's okay? i do a double take every time i see fics like those i mean, technically, it's legal but still what the fuck. maybe it's just not for me at the moment. not at us venting our frustration about this. it's just something that's so accepted here that i am (in all honesty) slightly uncomfortable about. but oh well. that's kpop writerblr for you.

When she first met him, it was right after the disaster of New York

She was sitting on the starks tower balcony near the heliport.

Looking down at the world below, it was quite windy that day, and when she shivered he put his cape on her.

--cold miss stark?--stark thor, patting her back.

-- A bit, thank you though-- said jerico,smiling at him.

Then,after Jane broke up with him, she was there to comfort him, and their friendshipp grew with every passing day.

--yknow-- said Clint,-- I bet jerico could lift that hammer-- it was during a party that thor just wanted to mess around with the team.

--oh shut it barton -- said jerico.

--oh come on its worth a try!-- added the god of thunder pulling his friend closer to him.

--nope, just like nat said thats not a question I need answered

When the ultron mess happened, he was the first one to tell her to go somewhere safe.

-- I cant Belive im saying this-- Tony stark said-- but I agree with pointbreak here, youll be safe somewhere else

So she was sent away.

Jerico waited happily for his return to the earth, bringing his people here with him.

What followed was a slaughter.

And now here he was in New asgard.

Thor almost spits his beer when he sees her again, he hugs jerico tightly, and he sighs,sniffing.

The god of thunder looked at hulk and rocket-- im in then...

Tony, for his daughters safe keeping forbid her to help with the time travel, so she anxiously waited...and Waited.

--Dad!-- shouted Morgan hugging Tony, followed by jerico.

--And uncle thor!

Jer almost cries when he sees him, she hugs him tightly,and he hugs back.

--im back-- he whispered to her.

And even though he said he was going to go to space with the guardians, a part of him never left her.

--Peter I told you, Moms making dinner and she said theres a special guest coming, want me to pick you up?...okay...okay see you in ten , bye take care

--hey-- said pepper as jerico cut the call-- I promise its going to be okay

--why wont you tell me who it is?-- she asked to his mother.

-- because its a surprise, now go help dad set the table okay?

--yes mom

Twenty minutes later he arrived,if it Wasnt because she was too shocked she wouldve at least gasped.

-- thor! Oh thank god youre back!--she hugged her friend tightly as she could, he hugged back-- howd it go?

The Man laughed-- let me tell you about my great stories during dinner my friend, its been too long

During dinner, the god of thunder talked about his adventures with the guardians, skipping the Gore and gruesome details for Morgans well being.

And since then hes been staying at the compound.

--Thor! Wake up!-- jerico said banging on the door of her friend.

--Five more minutes!

--its your first day of getting better come on

Theres a silence that lasts some seconds before she hears him get out of bed and dressed.

--once, you helped me-- said she handing him some dumbells-- let me help you, youre my friend and I want you to be happy

-- I am happy!

--youre using food to cope, since loki came back from lord knows where, youve been eating more, doctors orders is a clean diet, workout and Friends support

-- your earth doctors dont know about asgardians

-- do they not now?-- she quipped patting his arm-- come on we got work to do

The first week was hard to get trough, the second it started well.

--thank you for helping me with my hair jerico-- said thor, handing his friend the shampoo.

-- hey Man whenever you need me-- answered the human cleaning her Friends hair.

He wont tell why he let her help him, after all that happened he couldnt loose her, she was his closest friend, she was there when the world was rough, and stuck with him through it all.

But the feelings he had for here went far more than that , but would she even like him?.

He didnt know the answer to It, but if he did he would be surprised.

-- hey...youre quiet, you okay?-- asked jer.

-- no no im fine, just thinking

-- bout what? If its not too personal

--well, I didnt think itd go like this -- said the Man cleaning his beard-- when I first met you all those years ago, I was in love with you, the more years went on and things that happened I realized that the feelings I had for you were there, I never thought id say it, I was scared for the first time, of course this whole thing was a little bit more romantic in my mind,but here we are

Jerico smiled kissing his cheek-- finish taking a bath so we can have a proper declaration okay?

The Man nodds smiling.

After he bathed and changed he let her in his room again.

--i love you-- he said hugging her tightly like they did all those times before.

--me too-- she answered kissing him, he kissed back pressing his face on her neck.

-- what would I do without you...-- he whispered tightening his hug.

--dont ponder on that, focus on today, and those Killer Abs you got going on!

He laughed rather loudly, and looked at her-- I got them thanks to you, my dear

He kisses her cheek and smiles-- well, how about some food? After todays workout im starving

-- hmm I could use some food too, do you think our secret supply is still intact?

Both walk down the stairs to the kitchen

Deadly serious he goes--it better be

Both laugh and thor kisses jerico-- though if we have time, we should Cook togheter

--we should...I Like that idea

Thankfully the kitchen was Emtpy, and though the god of thunder didnt mind company, the lack of it made everything a bit more romantic, and special, just the two of them

-- for the years to come-- he said raising his beer glass.

-- for the years to come-- said she clinking her glass with soda with his.

As they Ate toghetet they watched a movie.

For the years to come indeed.

Katie I’m about to fly completely on my own for the first time this Friday and I’m pretty anxious about it. Do you have any advise you could give me about flying/the airport/packing/anything really? Thank you in advance :S x

hi b! ooooookay wow finally the 38 flights i went on last year will come in handy!

packing:

okay traveling by yourself if you’ve never done it before won’t necessarily impact your packing - just be sure that if you have a small carry-on bag that you don’t have any liquids over 2.5oz and remember that like. if you forget something, a lot of hotels (if that’s where you’re staying) will have stuff you can use for free, just ask them. worst case they usually have some stuff you can buy but most places are like really nice. if you’re staying with friends/family, just ask if you forgot something!

most people usually do like a carry-on bag and a checked bag, but just do whatever you normally do, and then make sure your carry-on has your id/passport, your phone, a charger for said phone, your wallet, any meds you have or anything you can’t go for the entire flight without, and then something to do on the plane (book, game, laptop, tablet, etc)

my necessities: phone, wallet, passport if i’m going international, keys cause i usually have to get back in my house after lmao, laptop, chargers for laptop and phone, a portable charger, headphones

here’s the hard tip: acknowledge that you probably will forget something. i literally travel almost every month of the year and i forget one thing every time. but it’s gonna be okay. as long as you have your id/passport/wallet and phone, things will be okay

before you travel:

okay so i have the apps for like all the major airlines and i usually try to check myself in right when i’m allowed to (24hr before). if you’re on southwest, set yourself a reminder so you can check in exactly 24hr before the flight and make sure you get a decent boarding number cause they do it on first come first serve

otherwise, just check in and save a screenshot of your boarding pass to your phone. i usually just do everything with the boarding pass in the app or saved to my photos but you can get a paper copy at the airport as well, and don’t stress if you lose it or w.e once you’re past security cause the gate attendants can print a new one (or you can just use the mobile)

oh the other thing here is you can sometimes choose a different seat whilst checking in? so if you see the one that’s assigned to you and you Don’t Like It, see if any others are available that you might prefer. i always go for the closest aisle seat to the front when traveling alone

and ofc you’ll want to make sure you have some kind of plan for once you arrive at your destination for how you’ll be getting wherever you’re going - taxi, uber, ride from friend/fam, public transport, whatever, just kind of have an idea what you need to do so you’re not stressing once you land

this one is one that doesn’t apply to me, but definitely something to check and look into if needed: if you have any special requirements or needs whilst in the airport or flying, ie wheelchairs or special accommodations or w.e, make sure you know what you have to do when you arrive

leaving for the airport:

okay first and foremost, depending on your airport, you’ll want to be sure you arrive at least 1.5hr early (this is like my personal rule of thumb bc i usually fly in and out of moderately large airports and i have Massive Paranoia about traveling for some reason?? even though i take like 12+ trips a year? but most places require no less than 40ish minutes ahead of time, that’s like super tight though i do Not recommend) - keep in mind like. traffic and stuff, if you’re going to the airport during rush hour or w.e make time for that

if you’re not familiar with your airport and like getting in (bc there’s usually a massive amount of like exits and ‘turn here for this’ sort of things) talk to someone who is familiar with it or like. google maps it ahead of time and street view walk yourself through it, whatever you need to do to feel comfy so if you’re the one driving, you know where to go to park/etc. if you’re ubering or having someone drop you off, just be sure you know which airline you’re on as they’ll drop you off in the right place

checking in:

okay if you’re already checked in and you don’t have a checked bag, you can head straight to security, but if you do need to check your bag, use the kiosks they’re always faster and you don’t have to wait in line. it’s pretty self-explanatory, usually, just enter the identifying info and it’ll probably note that you’re already checked in and just say you have a bag to check. you can also print a physical boarding pass here if you want. the kiosk will print out your luggage tag and just follow the instructions to attach it to the bag. there’ll be like a drop off point (they’re usually p well-labeled) up by the actual people at desks so just head up there and have your id/passport and boarding pass ready cause they’ll want to check them

security:

okay 9 times out of 10 you probably will Not have tsa precheck but if you do, it’ll be somewhere on your boarding pass and you should look for/ask someone about the nearest tsa precheck line. it’s just convenient, cause you don’t have to remove laptops or take your shoes off and it’s usually the shortest line

if you don’t have tsa precheck, just find the nearest (and shortest) security line and have your id and boarding pass ready. if you’re using a mobile boarding pass, lock your screen rotation if you’ll be using the picture you took instead of the app (this is the most annoying thing lmao i’ve done it too many times and usually just try to use the app when i can cause it’ll lock the rotation and go full brightness automatically). then you’ll have to put the phone on the lil scanner and it’ll beep when it’s scanned and done

now, again, if you have any special needs whilst going through security, you’re probably familiar with what you’d have to do if it differs from the standard procedure, but otherwise just go through as you normally would

between security and boarding:

do whatever u want basically. get food, if you need it or if you think you’ll need it whilst on the flight. drinks are usually hella expensive so i try to bring my refillable water bottle (empty!) and then refill once i’m past security

basically how you spend this time is totally up to you. i usually grab food as needed then go chill by my gate, if it’s an airport i’m familiar with and i know how long it’ll take to get wherever i need to go, but you may be more comfy just finding your gate first and then sticking nearby to get anything you need. also i’m a big fan of the charging areas which a lot of airports have now, so if u wanna charge up i recommend

boarding:

every airline is different but there’ll usually be some kind of boarding group or order listed on your boarding pass, so just keep that in mind (ie american has like,,,,6 boarding groups? united has 9, southwest has their whole a/b/c groups, etc etc etc i think one even has like a 2a 2b or something idk that might’ve been in the uk but just look on your boarding pass) if you’re confused or w.e don’t be afraid to ask one of the gate attendants that stand at the front

basically nothing here is all that different if you’re alone, just pay attention when they start boarding and listen for your group, same rule of thumb goes with turning your phone on screen-rotation lock when you go to scan your boarding pass (if it’s the mobile pic you saved)

the goal here with boarding is to go as quickly as you can, but don’t stress if it takes you a second to get in your row! it’s okay, people aren’t as in a rush as they seem. definitely try to fit ur stuff under your seat cause otherwise it’s a pain to get up and get it from the overhead bins

the flight:

honestly just sit back relax and do whatever u normally do! usually there’s no reason this would be any different when traveling alone. aside from sitting near strangers which is annoying sometimes but in my experience if u pop some headphones in everyone leaves u alone

after the flight:

i mean generally just head out into the airport u landed in and look for baggage claim signs - regardless of whether u checked a bag or not, most ground transport out of the airport is near the baggage claim. so just follow signs (and generally the people leaving the plane) and make your way there. if you get lost, again, don’t feel bad abt asking someone to point you in the right direction

if u have a bag, most places have a display board that says which baggage claim you’re at (if they didn’t announce it on the plane when you landed) and you can wait there

once ur done, depending on your mode of transport out, you can follow signs! many of the bigger airports now have designated sections for rideshares like uber and lyft as well

i was gonna give a bigger response but then i read your tags

so... basically, you support the capitalist ideal that people should generate their own funds from whatever place, and that they shouldnt be relying on government help? thats ableist. some people, myself included, literally cant do that. it is not some sort of failing to need help, and it is not a bad thing for the government to be giving help to the people who need it. and there are people who would need it all their lives, or who otherwise cant manage to "increase their income" themselves. i.e. chronically disabled people, people with no friends/family or none that theyre able to rely on. this doesnt even get us started on the fact that, even without a disability, things like universal basic income have been shown to be good for society.

aside from that, on your last point, perhaps it wasnt clear in my original post. but its not maths, no; whats happening is that a person in a partnership living alone in a 1 bedroom house would get more money than a single person living alone in a 1 bedroom house. the person who happens to be in a relationship doesnt have greater living expenses in that situation, yet still gets more money despite not living with more people than the single person.

anyway, im not that interested in talking to you more bc i get the vibe that you have a fairly normative-society view of all this and arent really that wiling to listen very far outside your view, maybe bc youre not used to it? or at least im not expecting you to change your view within the span of a conversation with me, and i dont have the spoons to try. i get the vibe that, perhaps youre not very used to reading about aro perspectives on issues like these, what i would perhaps suggest instead is to read more about aromantic writings and analyses of issues like these in general (for general aro stuff AUREA's a good start, TAAAP's tumblr blog also makes a lot of good posts about different issues aspecs face), maybe youll learn something or at the very least see the kind of thing i may have responded to you with if i had chosen to talk to you more about this. anyhow, good day.

I am incensed.

I was just checking information for a UK government welfare benefit, regarding housing, and I discovered they have this rule:

What this means, is that, if you're single and under 35, and you live in a 1 bedroom property, you automatically get less than someone in a couple living in a 1 bedroom property. Which essentially means that if you're single and relying on this benefit that you will struggle more to find accommodation if you want to live on your own than someone in a couple on the same benefits would - or be forced to live in a house share (which really isn't suitable for certain groups - I can tell you that from experience). For literally zero reason other than the fact that you're single.

This, obviously, is extremely arophobic. Aside from that, I'm pretty sure this would also indirectly affect queer folks who haven't been able to date/get in relationships due to queerphobia, and probably the same/similar for other marginalised groups too. Plus, people should just be allowed to live on their own anyway, even if they're on benefits. The fact that single people on benefits will struggle more to find a place to live on their own in comparison to both single working people and couples on benefits, is discriminatory to disabled aros especially.

Just generally, there is absolutely no reason for this to be a rule, and it obviously should be changed somehow.

Personally, I'm not able to do anything about this. My one idea is that there is an official government site where people can host petitions which will get discussed by parliament if they get enough signatures (not linking so this post doesnt get nerfed). But I do not have the spoons or knowhow to make such a petition or to make it successful.

Instead I'm making this post, to talk about it and bring some awareness to it. To be fair I don't actually know if anything is being done about this already or not. But either way something does need to be done.

covert clips : getting plants when you can’t buy them

okk cool so you want to have some plants in your room? you could want a cute little pot of succulents, a lux and lush houseplant, or a window herb garden… BUT you went to your local big-box depot/nursery, and saw those price tags. buying plants is expensive, and actually comes with a lot of risk. Those plants were raised/kept in a very specific environment tailored to that plants needs, and it would be a lie to say that even i (as an experienced plant grower) have brought home a plant just for it to immediately get sick and die. New environments are shocking to plants, and the topic of this post, clipping/propagating, just avoids that whole mess. And on top of that, clips are free!! (excepting the soil/containers/water)

**please please be respectful if you do go out and take covert clips!! private property is a thing, and if you don’t know what you’re doing, you could still harm the plant. You wouldn’t want some nut coming in and killing your plants… so just start slow, and don’t wile out just because you saw your dream plant on somebody elses lawn/desk. THE LAST THING i intended was for this to be like one of those guides on how to steal a $5 muffin from whole foods because your allowance ran out. im poor, i wanted some plants, and this is how i did it. if you have money to give to a local, responsible nursery, PLEASE DO SO**

OK LETS GROW SOME PLANTS

for this youll need: scissors, a razor/exacto, a plastic bag (to put clips in), a cup of water OR a pot with potting mix of a size that suits the size of the clip, and a ziplock. thats it!

the scissors and plastic bag will come with you when you go out, everything else can just hang out at home. i would recommend doing this very early in the morning, or possibly at night. Just be safe, and pick a time when there aren’t a lot of people around.

location? avoid actual stores, unless you are picking up dropped succulent leaves (more on that below). I don’t want to hear about y’all getting arrested.. bc yeah thats theft! just look out for overflowing window boxes, arrangements in public parks, and outdoor botanical gardens.

ATTAINING THE CLIPS

1. Succulents

super popular recently, and of course really adorable and pretty difficult to kill (but not immortal by any stretch), they are also the easiest and quickest props, next to spreading herbs (like mint). because they clone themselves so readily, you often see arrangements out and about that are full to the brim with babies. especially look closely for dropped leaves, or even babies which have been self-pruned, and fallen off the main stem. otherwise, full baby plants can be cut with scissors (pick small ones that won’t be missed, and never more than 2 off of one plant) or simply *gently* pull a few leaves off.

2. Herbs

these are very easy to prop too, the pic is of some mint that was kept in a shot glass of water, and after 5 days it had those little roots and many more nodes which will soon be roots as well. if you live in an urban area, its very common now for wealthy neighborhoods/apartments and expensive restaurants to have boxes full of herbs growing as decoration. thats important, because they are almost always ill tended: leggy and overflowing. take clips of the top 3-5″ of new growth, and snip just below a node (where leaves/new stems are coming off the main stem. once you have that clip, remove the leaves from that lowest node. you can see this in the picture (the tiny leaves have grown since the clipping, from where i pulled a set of larger leaves). woody herbs like rosemary can be prop’ed too, but they can take longer. tomatoes and peppers are also easy to prop and grow inside, with a larger pot.

**green onions are a special case! they can’t be prop’ed via clipping, but the bunches you get at the grocery root very strongly. just pick a bunch that has some nice roots already, and plant them in some soil. when you harvest, make sure to only take the greens!**

3. Houseplants

the trickiest, only because they are usually indoors. however, they are easy to raise, and some dont even require scissors. for many, if you look at the base, you’ll see the plant prop’ing itself, and there will be a little baby one coming out of the pot. if its ready to be removed, a firm pull with a twist will loosen it from the dirt, as it should already have weakened its connection to the main plant. i would recommend draecena (corn plant), chinese evergreen, and pothos to beginners. the best places to look for these are libraries. These clips already have roots, and wont need to be “rooted”, so just take them home and plant away.

ROOTING THE CLIP

-the water method: simply place the cut end into the water, place in a sunny (but not overly hot) place, and wait. this method is a bit risky for how simple it is, you can sometimes just get rot, especially with houseplant clips. but it is the cheapest, and allows you to see the progress of your plant. however, it is very temporary, mature roots will die with prolonged exposure to sunlight, and rooted clips must be transplanted into soil immediately. Thats why i recommend:

- the soil method: has really never failed me, it requires a bit more prep but there is no transplanting of the fragile rooted clip, as its already in its home. of course you can always move to a bigger pot, but its the first planting of a water rooted plant which is perilous. with your container of potting mix, insert the clip in just deep enough that it supports itself, that will depend on the size of the clip, but usually 1-2″. keep the soil moist but not saturated (don’t set it in a pan or plate to catch water, it’ll keep the soil at the bottom submerged which is bad). for succulents/succulent leaves, simply placing on top of the soil is fine. then tent the whole container with the ziplock, this will keep the plant from drying out while its growing roots (it can’t take in a lot of water, so you are increasing the humidity).

google “propagating x” , with x being the plant of your choosing for more specific info.

well, thats it! this is very easy, and the actual sourcing/attainment of clips gets easier. you might find you are always scouting once you’ve gotten into it. and again be careful, and respectful, both to the plant and the plants owners. our mission here is to give a little pruning tlc to overgrown/unkempt plants while keeping the trims for ourself, the health of the main plant is all important.
