YAY!! Asks!! Thank you so much for coming up with these! Get exciting for me to ramble and overshare (but do you expect anything less?!)

What got you into writing fanfic in the first place?

I have been writing fanfic since before I was even old enough to know what it really was. I was always day dreaming and drawing pictures inserting my own characters into my favorite stories, or forcing my favorite characters into my own situations (my mother used to transcribe the adventures of various Disney princess for me lol) the first *real* fanfiction I remember writing was in 5th grade for the book Eragon. My childhood best friend and I had a red spiral bound notebook that we passed back and forth and wrote our fic in. In terms of The 1975- I've been a fan of theirs since the Robbers music video started showing up on my Tumblr dash back in like 2014? (I couldn't figure out who I wanted to be more... Matty or the Robbers girl and years later I still in fact do not have an answer for that one lol) And I realized they were the same band that sang the song Chocolate. However, I didn't start posting my writing for them until last year when I was Going Through It™️ and my Bestie encouraged me to use it as an outlet (sorry Fictional!Matty! that's why your life sucks!)

2. What boundaries would you not cross as a writer regarding content?

I don't think I've actually killed off any *main* character or public figure yet and I can't actually see myself doing that? At least in something that I post for public consumption? Honestly that could change though. I don't really have any boundaries I'm not willing to cross because I am a firm believer that fanfiction is still considered art and art is supposed to make someone feel something and even make them uncomfortable. I actually have a fic that I've been working on that I'm hesitant to share because I'm not sure boundaries exist and I don't want to offend anyone (again) 😂

3. Has a fic ever made you cry? And if so, what was it about that fic?

This question isn't fair. I am a cryer, everything makes me cry. I started crying the other day because I love my horse so much (he's totally fine he was just looking super cute and was all happy I brought him carrots.) So yes, lots of fics have made me cry. Anything that I read that I can tell the author poured their heart into writing is honestly going to make me at least tear up and I am not ashamed to admit it. That's why I don't wear mascara on my lower lashes and only wear waterproof eyeliner 😂

4. How do you feel about abandoning fics?

I've only officially done it once, for a Hockey RPF fic that I just, wasn't enjoying working on. Everything else is just on "Hiatus" until I remember it exists again even if it takes years. I don't consider myself a quitter and abandoning a fic that I've started posting kind of breaks my soul. HOWEVER I do have a folder on my Google Drive that's just a graveyard of abandoned and half finished fics that I never posted that I go and visit sometimes.

5. Are there any novel authors you like that have influenced your writing style?

Yes! For sure 100%. However, I am currently sitting here going "I have never read a book before in my life" which is obviously a bold face lie you should see my GoodReads page but not really because there is a ton of my real life personal information on it lol Even though he's not (technically) a novelist (even though he did write a book!) can I say Pete Wentz? He's probably one of the writers I look up to the most. The way he bends words to pen lyrics just... scratch an itch in my brain and I hope I can one day make someone feel the way Fall Out Boy lyrics make me feel and I 100% feel like the flowery way he writes has influenced my to some capacity.

4. what got you into enstars?

so basically there were like. 4 people here in tumblr (yes tia you were one of them) who i initially followed for other fandoms but that started posting enstars content and at first i was like 'oh okay looks nice but not my thing im definitely not getting into it' and well. there was more and more enstars content in my dash and i finally got curious and downloaded the game and i remember thinking back then omg what am i doing.... but i only wanted to see a bit and well. you can see im now deep down in the enstars hole with no way out of it

8. what is your favorite song?

I CANT CHOOSE JUST ONE THERE ARE SO MANY I LOVE uhghghghgh okay.... im gonna say little romance. its a very very cute song, knights song AND ritsu center !! it has everything for me and it holds a very special place in my heart.... AND ALSO play tag. i really like the song in itself but especially setsubun feelings aughhhh and have you read the lyrics?????? it makes me so emotional every. single. time. 2wink my boys 😭😭😭

12. what was your favorite event?

idk if this means the story of the event or just the experience of playing the event in general, but im gonna do the last one given the next question. mmmm probably twin peaks bc it was the first time i went for the 5* event card and i was really excited playing until i finally got hinatas card!! and same with the euthanasia event going for ritsus card bc i had wanted that card practically since i started playing and its one of my favorites from the whole game!!

21. do you have a favorite story?

i have quite a few stories that i really really like a lot. if i had to choose just one, itd probably be requiem bc so many knights feelings.... they said a lot of things to each other and it made me sososo emotional ouguggghhghg some other of my faves are setsubun, christmas live, horror night halloween, band ensemble, checkmate and beasts (you can clearly see how much i like 2wink knights and ritsumao lol) (also they are all from ! bc im trying to read those first tbh i havent read any !! stories yet apart from the main story and a few idol and scout stories aldksfk)

Oh boy, a refugee, welcome to the hellsite!

Here are my tips. The first tip? You can put long posts under a cut so they don't clog up everybody's dash when they're scrolling! Click read more to see the rest of the advice!

1) Follow as many people as you can. There is no algorithm here. Stuff you see on the "for you" page and the "following" pages are entirely based on blogs you follow. Someone has cute cats and you wanna see more of their cats? Great. Follow them. Someone makes a fanart you enjoy? Follow them. Somebody made a shitpost that had you snorting water out your nose? You guessed it: follow them.

2) Also follow tags. If you are into a fandom, follow that fandom's tag. If you like a specific character, follow the character tag.

3) For the love of god, reblog posts. Likes don't do jackshit. The like button simply means "hi, I saw your post." It does not spread it around tumblr. Reblogs, on the other hand, will spread it to people who follow you and people who follow the tags you use in the reblogs.

4) Notice how many times I've said shit so far? Yeah, like other people said in the notes, we don't censor things here. ESPECIALLY not in tags, because people who DON'T wanna see that content will block the uncensored tag. But tumblr is a place where you can say things like "Elon Musk is a punk-ass little bitch, I hope he gets fucking killed," and nobody can stop you. If they don't wanna hear it, they'll just block you and move on with their lives.

5) Tumblr is a website that mostly runs on fandoms. If you want to talk to people, post and reblog fanart, headcanons, fanfiction, fandom discussion, and other fandom related posts. It doesn't have to be good, it just has to be something you're having fun with.

6) This website is full of people with empty askboxes who are DYING to get asked questions. Use that "ask me anything" button or the little ask in the corner to send people asks!

7) Do not come here looking for fame. Being tumblr famous mostly just gets people sending you anonymous hate and being featured in a couple of YouTube videos. Tumblr is a bunch of gay clowns screaming into the void about their hyperfixations, and occasionally crashing into each other about it. No such thing as being a Tumblr Influencer. Most posts average at 2-10 notes and 1 reblog. Your follower count can't be seen by other people and doesn't matter. Just have fun screaming into the void.

8) Tags can be anything you want. Most tags exist so you can organize posts. So, for example, if I made a digital drawing of Batman, I would tag that post with #batman, #dc, #bruce wayne, #fanart, #batman fanart, #dc fanart, #digital art, #dc comics, and other similar tags. You can use as many or as few as you have the energy for.

But, a lot of people will also use tags to organize their own blogs. For example, I would also add the tag #my art onto this hypothetical batman post, because that's the tag I use for all my drawings to make them easy to find. Some people also have tags like #Abby is Batshit Insane, for when they specifically do Batman related stuff. It's a tag they can use to organize their own blog without spamming the main tag for people casually scrolling.

Tags are also frequently used to ramble about stuff that you don't want clogging the main body of the post. Other things that often end up in my tags are stuff like #I don't wanna talk about how long the shading took me, #why am I losing my mind over this stupid little guy, #fuck the new 52 I hate his outfit over there, etc.

9) The search bar doesn't do shit. If you're looking for a specific post, you're genuinely better off googling it. The search bar is really only helpful for searching specific tumblr users or for searching for tags.

10) You don't have to post everything right away!Click the skewer button next to the post button to bring up a list of options. You can save it to your drafts (which you can access via the settings button on your blog), schedule it for later, or chuck it in your queue, which automatically spaces out your posts and posts them in the order you want. Most people will tag stuff they chuck in their queue with things like "please and thank queue," "to the queue with you," "barbequeue," or other such things for blog organization.

11) Finally, here's a bit of a navigation guide to the mobile app (which is the version I use), because the buttons are confusing.

When you open the app, it will look like this:

You'll have those three buttons at the top. Most tumblr users prefer to use the "following" page instead of the "for you" page, so they will change it to be the first thing they see. To do this, click that little slider icon next to "your tags"

This will come up. Pin "following," as I have done here to make that the first thing that comes up when you open tumblr.

To follow tags, click on the "your tags" button, and you'll see this:

Next, click manage, and you'll see the list of tags you follow. Click the plus in the corner to add more.

When you are on your own blog, you can use the following page to just relentlessly scroll through the blog of everyone you follow if you so choose. I do this all the time, it's great. I also highly recommend pushing that "settings" button on the corner, and pushing every button until you've got an idea of how everything works! The only really unintuitive thing is featured tags!

Remember how I said you can add tags to organize your own blog? You can make those tags accessible by clicking settings, featured tags, and then adding as many as you want.

alright, just a general psa (that may or may not be related to the umich discourse)

now. i have been on tumblr for ten goddamn years. i have been around, i have seen some shit. this is not meant to come down on anyone; this is not aimed at anyone in particular. this is just my take on how we can all strive to do better and have a positive social media experience.

number one: tag your posts. the tags are not just there for decoration and jokes. they're meant to organize not just your blog, but the dashboards of anyone else following you. for example, i really like the bruins! they're one of my favorite teams. if a friend of mine doesn't like the bruins, that's not an insult against me. it just means they would prefer not to see them on their dash. the easiest way to avoid me feeling like i'm annoying my friend, and my friend disliking seeing bruins posts on her dash, is for me to tag posts i reblog with the player's name or the team. i still get to post what i like, and they get to avoid seeing things they don't enjoy.

number two: use the filtering feature. on mobile, it's settings > general settings > filtering. on desktop it's settings > account, then scroll down until you see filtering. there is nothing wrong with not wanting to see something on your dash! however, you cannot control what other people post. what you can do is control what you see. in fact, the filtering even makes it so if a word is even mentioned in a post, it shows up as hidden on your dash. again using the above example, it wouldn't be right for my friend to insist i stop posting the bruins. but if they filter bruins content out, they get to have a more pleasurable experience while allowing me to keep posting what i love.

now. all of that being said, regarding umich specifically. (putting this below the cut so this post doesn't take up half your dash, lol.)

like most things, the umich fandom exists on a spectrum. i personally don't think there's anything wrong with existing in basic fandom - following their public social medias, enjoying posts from the official umich pages, making gifs or edits. and i don't think there's anything wrong with finding these guys cute! where it can start to get weird is when fanfiction gets involved. now, is all fanfiction bad? absolutely not! people should be allowed to fantasize and write about boys they find attractive.

where it does get weird is with the sexualization of these players. you can say "oh but they're all over 18, so it's okay!" on a legal front, yes. but legality is different than appropriateness. saying "owen power is so cute!" is different than saying "i want owen power to [explicit] me with [explicit] until i [explicit] [explicit]." again, there's not necessarily anything wrong with feeling these emotions, but there's really not a need to make them public. tumblr is a fairly private website but there is not an ironclad gate to get in. people can still see your posts, especially if they're left untagged.

and that's one of the main things - this spectrum very much depends on age. like, i'm 23. most of the people i follow on tumblr are around 18-24. but if you're 17, 16, 15, god forbid younger - please take as close a look as you can at what you choose to post and consume. nhl players have a public life - they're constantly in the media, they know basically what to expect. but for these college students: they're just that. students. they're not celebrities, no matter how many followers they have or how popular they are on tumblr. they're just people. put yourself in their shoes and imagine if you had a fandom of people obsessing over where you were, how you spent your time, who you were hanging out with. or even posting really sexual messages, down to full on smut stories involving you. even if you only saw a glimpse of that, wouldn't that feel strange to you?

all of this being said, if someone is of age, in college and finds these hockey dudes nifty: have at it. post what you want! no one should be there to gatekeep what you can and can't post. however, it'd be really nice if you tagged what you do post, just so those who aren't interested don't have to participate. and if you don't want to participate, that's fine too! but there's not really a reason to make fun of, insult, or alienate those that do. filter the tags and posts you want to, and move on.

at the end of the day, we're all trying to get through life on this hellscape rock. you choose what you post, and you choose what you consume. make the safest and best choices you can. that's all anyone can really ask for.

Lots of positivity posts, pictures of plushies and cute animals and good food, maybe a few recipes or sewing patterns! And of course, excited posts about Wink's upcoming performances or merch releases! I can also see him rbing art / screenshots of Finfin, and gifs of the Chao gardens from Sonic Adventure 2. Leaves lots of happy little tags about how cute something is, or even just rambling about his day! Really good vibes all around and a pleasure to have on the dash ouo

Petra: Tries so so hard to seem edgy and cool- A buncha shitposts, posts on how to make those Monster Energy can gas masks, blinkies, rbing cool art, etc.

But maybe she has a secret sideblog of sad quotes and pretty pictures of the moon and how she just wants a hug ono

Wink: Main blog for song releases, updates on upcoming performances, selfies, etc! Everything is neatly organized ouo

And a more personal sideblog for their art, cutesy stuff on their wishlist (like strawberry pillows or an ice tray with heart shaped ice), and sparkly magical girl gifs ouo

Cedric: Twitter user (derogatory), but eventually makes a tumblr. Dark colors, definitely uses a custom theme, overall dramatic as hell.

Poetry, dark romantic aesthetic stuff, occasionally horny on main- Also he posts pretty photoshoots and videos of him playing the violin! Probably tags stuff like #the rose whispers~ instead of just #writing.

Mel: Veteran tumblr user. Her blog is just a big ol mix of fandom stuff, shitposts, paranormal stuff, and writing. One million dead sideblogs and her tags are completely disorganized.

Cedric and Mel tag each other in posts they know the other will like, and Cedric will vote in fandom polls he knows nothing about just bc Mel's hyped about it. Friendship ouo

Dove: There isn't much on her blog, it's mainly just a place to post songs she's working on. But she'll occasionally rb random stuff she likes (Pokemon plushies, birds, old statues, those pictures of guitars with intricate angel designs, etc.) Never uses tags

Artic is my sona, so her blog would be pretty similar to mine irl, just with more posts about dragons ouo! August and Forgetica are Facebook users, but I can totally see August trying to spread his cult via tumblr only to get torn to shreds lmao- And Estelle and Stone cannot use technology to save their life

Edward Kenway for character asks!

ooooooo okay i should open this with a disclaimer: i have not finished black flag yet (about 2/3 of the way through i think? i need to level up my ship so i can beat the next story mission lol) so everything i'm saying here is based on the game up to thatch's death, and everything we know about edward in ac 3: forsaken and the comics that came out a couple years ago.

First impression

oh boy... to be honest, one of the reasons it took me such a long time to get around to playing black flag (it was one of the first ps4 games i bought when i got my console in 2016, and i didn't start until about a month ago) was because i didn't really feel particularly strongly about edward's character design. i was vaguely interested in That One Pirate Assassin Game after having watched (and loved) black sails, but was afraid i would be let down; to me edward just looked like Some Dude, and i was still hung up on the black sails gang. to me, black sails and its characters were so genre/time period-defining that any other piece of pirate media just seemed lackluster in comparison.

i'd also heard a lot of praise for edward and for ac4 in general so i was aware that it was a very popular and well-received game. but since i mostly heard that from reddit (didn't join tumblr ac fandom until odyssey in 2018) i kind of discounted it, bc gamer reddit tastes are... questionable at best.

Impression now

I LOVE HIM!!! i always think i want stories about virtuous characters who believe in goodness and kindness and aren't motivated by gold or glory but aren't afraid to do what needs to be done to help others who can't help themselves. and sometimes that's true (coughratonhnhake:toncough). other times i end up clowning on myself because i realize that it's so much fun when said good/kind character has a rough and rugged exterior, and is motivated by personal gain (i think edward and kassandra are kinda kindred spirits across time and space in that regard, but maybe that's another rant for another time). sometimes you just want someone to be a little bit of an opportunistic bastard, and boy does edward fit that to a T. he's an incredibly complex man, and i think what really got me was that even as he was impersonating assassins and then templars and then assassins again, all for personal gain (pickpocketing the templars in havana while he gains their trust and agrees to do their dirty work lmfao my beloved <3), his primary motivation for doing so was to prove to caroline and her family that he is someone worth a damn, that he is capable of great things and that he is worthy of their love and acceptance. and i know from ac forsaken that the marriage with caroline doesn't last (though i haven't played ac4 far enough to see if that happens on screen, or if it occurs between the game and the novel) which makes his backstory in the game all the more heartbreaking. but his optimism and perseverance and determination to prove himself are all what make me love him.

so that's edward the romantic. now let's talk about the way edward is with adewale, his crew, and his friends. and let's also put the rest of this behind a readmore bc girl i am RANTINGGGGGG

he has several lines that he says to adewale that make me physically cringe (namely: "many of [these men] wouldn't accept you as captain" or "what was it like being enslaved?" like i get that someone like edward would be asking that question in good faith and genuine curiosity but also JESUS CHRIST UBISOFT). but on the flip side - cringey as those questions are, he also takes the time to actually listen and learn, and i think he genuinely values the perspective that he gets from adewale allowing him to open these lines of trust and communication. there's a patience and mutual respect there that i adore.

i also love how much edward loves his crew and his other pirate friends. those scenes of him + kidd + thatch + adewale + hornigold (lol) drinking on the beach and having a grand old time and talking about establishing - to borrow one of my favorite chills-down-my-spine phrases from black sails - a nation of thieves, for people like them to live and prosper, free from the chokehold of civilization. and i know he's not as outwardly invested in counterculture/independence/anticolonialism as thatch and vane and kidd are, but the fact that he so wholeheartedly supports his friends' goals, lofty and impossible as they are, speaks volumes about his love for his friends.

Favorite moment

every scene he has with kidd when kidd casually and softly reminds him that they see that he is a good person beneath his opportunistic and rambunctious exterior. i especially love when they discover julien du casse's mansion containing orders for templars to go out and hunt down assassins: the way kidd immediately knows that edward wants to help the assassins as a way to make up for the damage he did while masquerading as a templar, even if he hasn't voiced it aloud himself. the way that they don't force edward to admit anything about himself before he is ready, but still constantly remind him that he has a good heart. they give him space to come to terms with his compassionate side in a world/environment that more often than sees compassion as something to be stamped out or cast aside. i don’t love when characters are forced to be the Moral Compass for a main dude character, but i think it works for edward and kidd.

Idea for a story

not an edward story per se, but there are 2 povs into edward's life that i would cut off (someone else's) limbs for:

jenny's pov growing up in the kenway household. from haytham's pov it seems that she knows way more about his past than haytham ever did (it was hinted at that there are rumors about edward’s past as haytham was growing up that he wasn’t privy to, but i don’t think at any point in the novel does haytham ever find out definitively that his father was a pirate) and i want to know how she knew so much, and more into what her life was like - through her eyes rather than haytham, who is like 10 years younger and by his own admission barely understands her and barely has a functional relationship with her. i'll expand further on edward and jenny in the next question/prompt/bullet point, actually, bc i have a LOT more to say.

connor's pov learning about his grandfather from... idk? who's around to tell him? what's so goddamn sad is that by the time connor rebuilds the colonial brotherhood he's kinda the only one left. sure there's aveline down in louisiana, but as far as we know everyone who was around in edward's generation is dead now, and i'm not sure how much of the kenway saga is preserved for connor to discover, or if all this information about their family line was discovered in the modern-day, by your abstergo employee character, and later by osto berg in the comics. which is why i so badly want a revelations-style game where connor traces his assassin heritage back to the caribbean, relives some of edward's memories, and then makes the trip to london to see his aunt jenny. it would have been such a cool way to round out the kenway saga.

Unpopular opinion

idk how popular or unpopular this is bc i rarely see other in-depth posts about it on my dash, but edward was a terrible father to jenny. he was every bit the wonderful and loving father to haytham for the 10 years that haytham had a father, but i wish we'd seen more of jenny's perspective than just a few lines of dialogue in haytham's diary: i hate the way edward sidelined her and raised her in the same manner that any other wealthy person of the time would have raised their daughter - that is, for the sole purpose of sitting pretty and marrying her off in an arrangement that would benefit the family. it's especially hard to reconcile because in ac4 there are female assassins in the americas, and there are female pirates in the caribbean, so it's not like edward isn't aware that women have as much right as any man to live life on their own terms. it just seems like by the time he returns to england and settles down with his family, he's reverted back to the societal norms and gender roles that the pirates fought (and lost) against, and it's hard not to be deeply disappointed by that.

to be clear, i don't begrudge edward settling down and becoming a Rich Society Man. dude deserves to live comfortably with his loving family. he has every right to dote on his wife and children, and leave behind the hardships of being a pirate. but i think "fightning against deeply-ingrained cultural norms/expectations is a long and bloody struggle, and after losing so many people he cared so deeply about, i think it's understandable that edward wouldn't want to continue that fight alone (and also adewale is still fighting the good fight) (do NOT @ me about ac rogue I Pretend I Do Not See It)" and "i don't love the way edward sidelined his daughter into societally-expected gender roles she did not want; it makes me think that he did not continue drinking his Respect Women Juice as much as i thought he did/wanted him to" are two opinions that can coexist.

Favorite relationship

i don't know that i ship edward romantically with anyone, actually. i thought he and caroline were cute in the beginning, but it's hard to want to ship them knowing that she leaves him eventually. and ofc there'd edward/tessa in ac forsaken, and we know they were very happy together and that he loved her so so much. but we don't see that relationship except through haytham's eyes.

as for non-romantic relationships, i already talked at length above about his relationships with adewale and the other pirates and kidd, and i'll just leave it at that. i'm also vaguely aware that edward's got some upcoming scenes with anne bonny, but i'm not at that point in the game yet so i don't have much to say about the two of them. so far i've only seen them say a few lines to each other at the nassau tavern.

Favorite headcanon

kassandra absolutely rubbed shoulders with edward at some point during his time in the caribbean; i like to think that she needed to lie low for some reason (maybe she was with the assassins idk) and joined his crew. i just need my best stabby gal and my second-favorite stabby dude to be pals!

finally, this isn't a headcanon per se but it is obligatory that any time i talk about kenways i yell for a bit about the fact that EDWARD WOULD HAVE LOVED CONNOR SO SO SO MUCH AND I'M FOREVER DEVASTATED THAT HE NEVER GOT TO MEET HIM. at the same time, if edward hadn't been murdered and haytham not been indoctrinated into the templars the way he had, i'm not sure connor would even have existed. and in a way i'm glad that edward wasn't around to see how broken and cynical and depressed haytham became, because i think that would have absolutely broken his heart.

I was interested in how you grew your account to the extent that you did? I just started a writing account (@talesofnox) linked to this one and want people to go there instead of this one. Should I delete my works and put them on that account or leave them up?

Hello darling :)

So, I went onto both of your accounts to see what we are working with and I found a couple of things that keeps your blog stuck. Like you can't gain as many followers as you possibly could because your blogs lack the way you can be found. If you were to improve on some of the below stages, you could possibly gain followers faster, but it's not a guarantee. Also these are just suggestions, my personal observations only, you don't have to change anything at all.

This is a rather long post, so the rest is below the cut :)

Firstly, INTERACTION is very important on tumblr. It's important that you converse with people, send asks and talk to others. Also like, comment and reblog fics, otherwise people don't know about your presence. Many of my mutuals that I love and adore came about as we reblogged each other's fics, we started talking, we followed each other and their followers and my followers started following us. Tumblr works with a reblog system. Likes and comments are sweet, but they don't help your fics to get more reads. People rather read something that comes up on their dash through others' reblogs, than go into tags and search for themselves.

Secondly, TAGS are a must. You are not using relevant tags. I scrolled down on both of your accounts and I could catch a couple of useful tags here and there, but not many that would make you visible for others. That is why I think you have less notes on your fics. If you don't use tags correctly, people can't find you and if they can't find you, they can't follow you and if they can't follow you, your blog is stuck. As an example, I just read I promise (Minho x Male!OC) on your writing account, talesofnox and it's a very sweet story that could gain you followers, but you don't use many relevant tags.

Let's see an example;

Some tags, such as #maze runner, #the maze runner, #minho maze runner, #minho are good, but where is #minho x oc, #minho fluff, #maze runner fluff, #maze runner fanfiction, #maze runner blurb, #maze runner one shot, #minho one shot, #minho imagine or #minho fanfiction.

Tags are essential when you want to grow and so is interaction. Tags such as #bad writing, #this is pretty cute, #or are you the cute one? - are very sweet, but they don't help you grow. People usually leave these sweet tags for interactions. (On a side note, reader insert fics are more popular because people can imagine themselves as the main character so that could also be a reason too why you have less notes, though it doesn't mean you have to stop writing OCs. Keep doing whatever you are comfortable with.)

I also checked your other account noxleyfin which you said is not your writing account, but I wanted to see what we were working with and so I read Sleep (Minho x Fem!Reader), because it seemed like a sweet fic and I really liked it, but once again, your tags won't help you.

As you can see, barely anyone will search for #cute boi, # sleepy baby and such. Once again, using similar tags as I said before could be helpful. Tags such as #minho x reader and #maze runner x reader - are good, but you could add a couple of more tags. Then again Maze Runner is not as popular right now as it was, so that could also be a reason why there are less notes on your fics now and bring you less followers.

I would also advise you to make a Masterlist. Of course, it's up to you, but it is a necessity to have a mesterlist, regardless of what anyone says. People are lazy and even clicking on tags tires them. If it's not shoved into their faces, they will just scroll past your account. Been there, seen it all. I guess how our modern generations have been brought up made us rush so much that we don't stop and just "window-shop" anymore. That includes me as well, so I'm guilty as charged :)

Now I saw that you have created a link called previous sitches for your archives on talesofnox, which could potentially work as your masterlist, but if that's what you would like to achieve with it, which is quite smart, make sure that you don't "shitpost" meaning you don't reblog many posts that could drown your fics, because once again, people are lazy and they won't scroll through it. Also, if you are planning to use that as a masterlist, maybe renaming it would work better, because as I went on your account, it was an accidental click that led me to it.

In regards to connections between your blogs, I have not seen any links on noxleyfin that would send your readers to your writing blog, which is talesofnox and unfortunately people won't search for these things. They need to be in your bio or on top of your pinned post otherwise people skip it all. I had to scroll down to find one or two posts where you actually said you posted "I promise" on your writing account, but as I mentioned, these informations must be shoved into people's faces. It's like marketing. You have to make it easily accessible, in a way force them to see it.

Last but not least, if you are not afraid of losing your notes, sure delete them, but I can't make this decision for you. This is where you could use a Masterlist, where you could put the link of all your fics, regardless of which account they are on and that would help people find your work, wherever they were, are or will be posted.

Okay but outside the anatomy there’s stuff like (studying art styles I already like): a thick dark outer lineart with thinner, often colored inner lineart is NICE.

I like bright, saturated colors and also Cool colors. I like using weird colors for unexpected things. Love seeing pops of purple and orange on water, blueish trees, pink grass and green skies. But it’s all still clearly representative of what they’re meant to be.

Rim lighting is DOPE.

I like limbs that taper at the joints, though I’m not sure how taper to get before it looks weird (more of that ‘u gotta study real anatomy to stylize that anatomy’)

Big heads often important for big expressions but once I got the ‘1/3 between the shoulders’ in my head, my brain like ‘okay head has to fit between the shoulders’. Most animations meanwhile got heads as wide as the shoulders or wider it’s fYNE,,, making the neck thicker is more my style than pencil necks however, so that’s,,, still hard.

Alphonse Mucha and the SYMBOLIC DETAILS. Love a dash of organic and then symmetric details. I love the Borders. And ofc King of the ‘thicker border, more fluid thin and colorful inner lines’.

JTHM was very detailed for black n white and that’s somethin that also intrigue me. I don’t always like to color things. So that my work could still look POLISHED in black n white would be nice. The way the lines are drawn, thick and jagged, thin yet cuffed with chunky details (say very skinny long boots, but they have THICK buckles). Plusss… jhonen a master of ‘simple headshape’. I would love a simple headshape I can draw from many angles. But it’s a big ask. Especially for multiple dif headshapes. But the Big Bug Eyes, Small Chin, easily diversified but often simplified to a triangle nose, all very nice.

She-Ra probably too realism for what I really want (more fun). But it’s very much an idealized ‘semi-realism but cute’. Love the lil blush mark everyone gets across their face. Diverse body types. Angela and Glimmer main color scheme queens I love. Perhaps I’m more interested in the shows sci-fantasy aesthetic. The backgrounds? Oh god chef kiss. Inspo for hair perhaps. I really wanna draw hair but it’s HARD. show simplifies a lot of beautiful hairstyles across many many characters. It’s got room for study.

**grabs The Aristocats for cat anatomy study only** I would give them bigger eyes.

Tbh. Aggretsuko may just be a good study. Dark thick outer lines. Big expressive heads n faces. Still pretty detailed and cute!

C-could you believe—- The Boondocks. Study how they draw afros and the like. Diverse body types. I really like how they draw clothes and shade in stuff in general (the sort of sharp shading I feel from stuff like jthm too). It’s crisp. Loved Riley’s outfit when he was sellin chocolate (his hood looked like a cloud it was so fluffy). Also EYEBROWS SO GOOD?? How do they do it. (Makes me think of a tumblr artist but I’ll just say Sad Catholic Dog and y’all who know, know). It’s the definition of the forehead muscles ALONG with sharp, defined brows.

OFC. XIAOLIN SHOWDOWN. MY BELOVED. so smooth. So unique in shape language. The swirls everywhere. Hidden yin Yang symbols. Everything given a traditional Chinese aesthetic even if it’s not in China (how often they fly to like, America, but it’s still red tile roofs and that unique palanquin shape, everywhere). Thick lines, I love how they draw hands and how POINTY the shoulders are. Heads just Round as Hell, EASY PEASY.

Scavengers reign biology my beloved. Lines are uniformly thin, colors seem flat at times, but it’s still deep and intriguing. Someone said they draw beards weird but boi I wish I could draw beards at all so BEARD REF.

There’s a ton of shows I haven’t watched that I know would be good for study but I always take my time watching shows. (kipo how long will my brain neglect you, THE COLORS AND VIBE ARE SO UP MY ALLEY, but perhaps it’s the fear of distracting hyperfixation that keep me on a leash).

Lookin to expand style and watched video on it like. ‘Pick features u find important and highlight/focus on em then. Shrink stuff that’s less important’. BIG EYES. BIG MOUTH. LONG LIMBS. FUN HAIR. At least a moderately noteworthy nose zone cause I don’t want em Gone. I WANT. Anime but not it seems. (Always on that semi realism-cartoony-realism triangle somewhere close to semi-real and cartoony. Which is where anime is!!)

But I’m also curious how this idea would correlate to. Drawing animals. Longer limb kitties. Cheshire-like faces. Maybe. Maybe.

the very first work i ever read of yours, joyce 🥺🥺 i remember seeing an nct network reblog this and after reading through the summary of the series, i was enticed by the plot and i read most of your masterlist whilst waiting for the next parts 🤧 the main character’s relationship with each ‘j’ was unique to them and their interactions were just so sweet to read (except jaemin’s >:( why did my ult’s part have to be the angsty one 😤 jk jk i loved it anyways) special mention to ‘cupid’s arrow’, because that fic was an emotional rollercoaster and i loved that almost as much as i love bestfriend!jungwoo in the last part 😌

it would be a sin if i didn’t include this in my top reads this year, pun intended 😌, especially since i have a weakness for mafia aus. i haven’t had the time to read mark or renjun’s parts yet, but from what i read in this fic, i’m sure theirs are just as good, if not better. the storybuilding and the development of the plot are so detailed and intricate and that is what i love in a fic. i already reviewed this on my main with a lengthy description of my favourite parts so i’m gonna keep this short and sweet - if you love haechan, mafia au’s, and enemies to lovers, you need to read this !!

@jensungf - passing clouds + only forever

these fics hit different now that i bias jisung 😭 ‘passing clouds’ was pure angst and as much as it hurt, it was written so beautifully and i loved it so much. ‘only forever’ healed the jisung shaped hole in my heart and made me fall in love with him all over again. the first love vibes he gives off is unbelievable and that innocence was presented perfectly in this 🤧 side note: never let jisung bake for you even if it’s as a peace offering 😖

@hyucksie - in the long run + second first kiss

although ‘sweet talk’ and ‘silent treatment’ are also contenders for some of my favourite fics of the year, these two have taken the cake 😌 the concept itself of time travel and mark and y/n seeing their future child was so creative and the mixed emotions that the characters experienced seeing their future were executed so well and the ending when their actual future selves remembered the day they time travelled 🥺🥺 not to mention the sequel doesn’t feel forced at all, the story flows well, and jealous mark is a cutie 🥰

i’ve been following cat after i first read ‘i turned my best friend into an e-boy!! (and kissed him)’ and ever since then every piece of hers that i’ve read is simply breathtaking and so engaging. her style of writing is so unique and whenever i read anything of hers i feel so immersed in the fic. the dreamies as youtubers and tiktokers was such a cute concept to me and the little comment section at the end of each fic is probably my favourite part 😳 the way each member’s fic connects to the plot of another is perfect and their cameos in one another’s fic >>> (jisung telling y/n about the tiktok challenge in mark’s fic + cameraman jisung in chenle’s) i could keep talking abt this series for a lot longer but i’ll end it here, also i can’t wait for norensung’s parts 💞💞

i’ve probably mentioned my love for ‘the umbrella academy’ before but THIS !!! this series just made me love it even more 🙈 despite yangyang’s part being the only one that’s out, that and the prologue are interesting enough and seeing the 00 liners in this alternate universe is honestly amazing jxjwjxkw jaemin as three and hyuck as two is everything. the brothers’ relationship, especially in yangyang’s part, is so complicated yet so cute and i can’t wait for the rest of the members’ parts 💘

when i first stumbled across this series, i was immediately intrigued by the plot, and not just because it was about rapper!mark and singer!y/n🧑‍🦯🧑‍🦯 the side characters (dreamies + doie and jisoo) were so funny and well-written and the plot >>>> i was so invested in the twists and turns of the story, the relief i felt when the conflict was finally resolved and we got our fav musician couple !!

jinyoung and mark are my biases, my ults actually <3 and yess i'm keeping up w/ their solo projects even more than before 😭 it's so jdjdkdkd. 2017 was the year i started listening to kpop and around that time or lil later i came across ' you are ' this song is so dear to me i loved it in first listen, its lyrics i love its lyrics sm i made everyone i know listen to it dhjddk yet i didn't dive in deeper bc i was caught up with other group at that time but slowly I started watching their content from 2018. it's like got7's been w/ me since the start & at the same time not </3 but look, lullaby and more importantly spinning top came and everything changed with that album it's so goood from then i started keeping up with their music and check their cbs. i knew jype was meh even when i didn't stan them but i didn't know to what extent, i only got to know after 2019. so far it's all so good and i hope it stays like that. all of their different companies treat and promote them nicely 🥺.

with svt it was instant love i got to know abt them during march 2019 ig, their songs grew on me so fast and boom by the time may came i was a carat, with got7 it was gradual love, it increased lil by lil it's nice but i do wish i could've stanned them earlier. the only cb experience as an official birdie i have is nbtm and last piece 😭 anyway both of these groups are very dear to me not just musically but emotionally too. i love them very much 😔.

Honestly can’t think of one. I’m very set in my ships.

Over fifteen years in the Harry Potter fandom, but I’ve had to separate that from JKR herself in the recent years.

From The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare — Nat and Kit were my first OTP. Read this book in fifth grade and was immediately loved them. Boy literally risks banishment from the colony to help prove she’s not a witch.

I love visual media, so TV, anime, and film

I’m not going to let tumblr dot com put me off of a particular show/book/etc. itself, but it has definitely made me think less of certain types of fans who are in a fandom.

J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)

The...period drama fandom? More widely, the history fandom. They both create some of the most beautiful edits celebrating history and I love it.

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

From Avatar: The Last Airbender — It’s gotta be Prince Zuko

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)

From Harry Potter — I think Ginny is a Mary Sue but I loved when she stood up for herself in Half-Blood Prince when Ron was trying to slut-shame her.

M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.

From Parks and Recreation — Leslie Knope. Unending positive affirmations, thoughtfulness, and support!

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).

I don’t really have a main fandom but I haven’t mentioned Free! yet so let’s go with it for this one.

1. Less Nitori because I can’t stand him.

2. More female characters! I get half the appeal is the boys, but I’d love to see a girls swim team in some capacity.

3. More Haru and his family dynamics! Doesn’t have to be a ton, but I want to know what his relationship with his parents like, especially as an adult.

O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?

Salt and the Sea - The Lumineers. “From the destruction, out of the flame. You need a villain, give me a name.” Such an Odesta song. (Finnick x Annie from the Hunger Games)

P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).

For The Mandalorian — A historical AU set in early 1900s New York City where Mando’s just some government agent sent to “report” on slum conditions to satisfy some housing law. He goes meaning to write up a generic report but then finds the orphaned Baby Yoda abandoned in one of the tenements. Shocked by the conditions of the slums, Mando goes from being an apathetic, middling-level bureaucrat to being an anonymous investigative journalist reporting on the corruption in the government that allows for the city’s most vulnerable citizens to live in squalor, leading the government on a search to find who within their ranks is exposing them.

Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.

Sherlock, because it just took so long for the third series to come out. I had moved on to other fandoms by the time it did. Still have fond memories of when I was active in it, though.

R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?

From Lord of the Rings — Aragorn and Legolas. This is played up a lot more in the films but I love it.

S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)

For Lord of the Rings — Boromir definitely taught Faramir swordplay when they were little kids since their father didn’t want to.

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?

From Hanyou no Yashahime — Rin made the first move. Sesshomaru would be way too clueless to even know how to go about it.

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

From Pirates of the Caribbean — James Norrington: Commodore in the Royal Navy during the 18th century, must I explain any further? Cool, calm, and collected on the job while looking v good while he does it but a nervous wreck in front of the woman he fancies. Tell me that’s not straight out of Austen.

From Star Wars (OT) — Luke Skywalker: An unapologetically good person in a crapsack world, doing his best to bring light into the world. A classic hero archetype who grows out of his naïveté to become a cunning—but still benevolent—Jedi.

From Prince of Tennis — Yukimura Seiichi: His duality is *chef’s kiss*. Super scary and in charge on the court, gentle sweet boy who loves art and culture off the court. He struggled for so long but was able to overcome it all through his hard work and willpower.

Bonus favorite, because I couldn’t resist...

From Band of Brothers — Doc Roe: He’s doing the MOST for his guys but he really just needs a hug. Plus he’s got the accent.

V - Which character do you relate to most?

From Little Women — Jo March, especially as portrayed by Saoirse Ronan in the 2019 adaptation. Writer, holds grudges, opinionated, stubborn, eschewed “girliness” in her youth but is more open to it and romanticism as an adult.

W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.

I’ve gotten to the point where even the hint of a love triangle tests my patience.

X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.

I love fandom so much. I’m sort of facetious about being obsessed with people who aren’t real on my other social media accounts, but in all seriousness, being able to escape the real world to get excited over characters and relationships that face their own struggles, triumphs, and emotions is such a gift. So often they speak so powerfully on the human experience—How can you read, or watch, any of Tolkien’s work and not be moved by what he has to say about humanity and the power of good? Even if the stories are fictional, the messages they impart about life aren’t, which is what I love so much about them.

Breath Control Chapter Three

sorry about this... Tumblr deleted the first three chapters of my first fanfiction. so i’m reposting them. enjoy haha

THREE

On Saturday night I received a text from Rhys with the address to his place. I clicked the link and found that he lived. . . In my neighborhood. My mouth popped open. Usually swimmers lived in the same area or neighborhood, and the swim team had three “hubs” that swimmers usually gravitated to. I had no idea that Rhys and I lived in the same one. Driving me home that Saturday night must have been a cinch.

That meant it took me five minutes to walk from my townhouse in Astrid Oaks to his townhouse a few streets down. I briefly wondered who his roommate was.

I was halfway there when I got a text from Rhys.

Rhys: We changed our minds. . . We are going to drink. . . You don’t have to, but the whole team is drinking and we’re bowing to peer pressure. Just gonna stay here though. Bring what you have if you want

I read the text and slowed. Then I turned around and headed back to my place. I had a bottle of vodka in the kitchen. I didn’t want to owe Rhys or any of his friends alcohol. In record time, I made it home, took two shots to prepare myself for a night of dealing with new people, and threw the bottle into a backpack. I hadn’t even made it halfway down the street when a familiar looking black truck pulled up next to me.

“Feyre!”

Shit.

I waved and tried to keep walking but the passenger door of Tamlin’s truck opened and he spilled out. That meant he’d already started drinking and was letting one of his friends drive. On the bright side, I hadn’t seen Ianthe at the house and she didn’t seem to be in the truck, either.

“Feyre,” he said again, and I could smell the alcohol on his breath as he came closer. “Come out with us. Please.”

I made an attempt to walk around him but he gripped my wrist. “Hey. I’ve given you some space--can’t we just forget that night? I made a mistake.”

I wrenched my arm back from him. “I have plans, thanks. Enjoy your night.”

But that wasn’t enough for him. Of course it wasn’t. I took one step before the back door of the trunk pushed open from the inside and Tamlin pushed me in. Strong hands grabbed me from behind and yanked me up and inside.

What the hell? Was this some kind of movie? I certainly was not a damsel in distress.

“Tamlin! What are you doing? Let me out!”

But before I could consider punching him in the face and getting the hell out of there, he climbed in on the other side of me, shut the door, and the truck sped down the street.

I found Bron on the other side of me, grinning fiendishly. Hart was driving. Both very large, very muscular sprinters on the team and Tamlin’s closest friends, besides Lucien. Who didn’t drink. I hadn’t spoken to Lucien for quite a while, actually. . .

Stuck in the car, the vodka starting to make the world just a smidgen fuzzy, it dawned on me that I was in trouble. And I didn’t see a way out. My phone was in my back pocket, but I didn’t want to pull it out and text--who, Rhys? I didn’t need him coming to my rescue again. I couldn’t bother Elain with this. She’d lose it. Nesta was halfway across the country right now. And if Tamlin saw my phone, he’d probably ensure that I didn’t contact anyone.

I was forced to abandon my plans for an escape as Tamlin unzipped my backpack and started rooting around inside of it. Bron and Hart began whooping when he gleefully announced that, “Feyre has more liquor!” and unscrewed the cap. He passed it to Bron, who took a swig, then took it back and drank some himself. I noticed that we were now driving through downtown Prythian. Surely we would stop before too long. . .

But Hart passed the bars, passed the turnoff for the neighborhood where swimmers usually partied, and swiftly exited the downtown area. Where were we going?

My resolve to “not panic” began to crumble. . . I needed to get out of this car and away from Tamlin. He wouldn’t try anything too terrible, I knew that much. But he would keep me with him until I could slip away.

Rough hands gripped my face. “Have a drink.” He shoved the bottle of vodka at my face and I ducked my head. I was two shots deep already, and my tolerance wasn’t the highest. I needed a clear mind if I wanted to run whenever the car stopped.

“No, thanks.”

“Drink it!” His tone frightened me, and I reluctantly took the bottle. Pressing it to my lips, I kept them closed as I tipped the bottle up. That was clearly not enough for Tamlin, who seized my hands and tilted the bottle up. Shocked, I involuntarily took a gulp before wrenching away.

I gagged and he removed the bottle--vodka spilling all down my t-shirt. Shit.

He and Bron laughed, so loud I had to fight to make myself heard. “Where are we going, Tamlin?”

Hart spoke up. “My place! It’s on the edge of town.”

I had no idea where that was. Shit, shit, shit.

Tamlin and Bron continued sharing my vodka, me in between them, and Tamlin gradually moved closer to me. He had just slung his arm around my shoulders, singing along with the country song blasting from the radio, when the car slowed to a stop in the parking lot of a gas station. Hart hopped out to fill up the tank, and I made a wild lunge for the door on Bron’s side, thinking he’d be less inclined to stop me. I didn’t make it far--Tamlin seized my waist and yanked me back down in the seat.

“Don’t leave, Feyreeee,” he said.

“Tamlin. I don’t want to party now. Please just let me get out and go home.”

He thought about it--as much as a drunk 22-year-old could think. “Drink the rest of this vodka and I’ll let you go home.”

I rolled my eyes. Fighting to keep my tone nonchalant, I said as playfully as I could, “I’m serious, Tamlin. What are you getting out of this? I won’t be any fun at the team party anyway.”

“I want you to drink it Feyre. Forget what I did that night. It didn’t mean anything.” He paused and I noticed that his face had paled. “Let’s end this fight.”

Fight? I was under the impression that we were broken up. However, I didn’t think bringing that up now would help my situation. Tamlin was slowly turning from pale to green. His muscular body blocked my way out. I thought that maybe if I did drink a little bit of the vodka, I could get him to drink more as well. He already looked sick. Surely it wouldn’t take much for him to need to puke. In fact, he was starting to sweat now, and I could tell a little more and he’d have to hurl. It was now or never. It would only take Hart so long to fill up with gas.

“Okay. I’ll drink, but only if you do, too,” I said, and slowly took the bottle.

He mustered up an uneasy grin. “Uh… Okay.”

I took a swig, as small as I thought I could get away with, and while he did the same, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and kept it behind me in the seat. If my plan failed, I’d call the cops. Hart was staring at his phone, distracted. Tamlin handed the bottle back, and as I took another shot, he lunged violently sideways, falling heavily out of the truck and onto the sidewalk next to the gas pump. I grabbed my phone and leaped out of the car. I landed feet first in Tamlin’s vomit. He lunged for my ankle and I stumbled, drunk and off balance, dropping the glass bottle of vodka, which shattered all over the pavement. Tamlin released his grip on my ankle and I ricocheted forward. I landed heavily on my hands, glass piercing through one of them painfully.

I didn’t have time to look at the cut before I was up, sprinting back in the direction of town. One glance behind me and I saw that Tamlin was still hurling his guts up in the parking lot, and neither Bron nor Hart were making an effort to chase me. I opened my phone when I thought I’d made it far enough away and saw that I had butt dialed the last person I’d texted.

Rhys.

The call was in progress.

“Uh… hello?” I said, slowing my run to a walk as I stepped onto the brightly lit streets of downtown Prythian. Prythian was a small college town, it’s downtown area full of historical buildings that held boutiques, bars, and restaurants. Families and college students alike strolled down the streets, high off the victory of today’s football game that I had neglected to attend. The bars were already packed and it was only nine o’clock. It would take me a solid twenty to thirty minutes to get to my neighborhood on foot, a little drunk and with a cut hand.

“Oh my god. Feyre. What the hell is going on? Where are you?” Rhysand’s voice exploded from my phone, so deafening I had to move it away from my ear. He sounded--frantic. Odd. Rhysand was usually the picture of sophistication, of unruffled composure. It was almost like he was worried about me.

“Calm down. I’m on Main street, next to Rita’s.” I steeled myself for what I would have to ask of him. “Could you come… pick me up?”

“Yes. Okay. I’m in the car now, I’ll be there in less than ten minutes. Stay there.”

I walked over to a bench a few doors down from Rita’s so I didn’t get caught up in the line to get in. As I sat down, desperately wishing I wasn’t intoxicated in the middle of a college town after daylight hours, the reality of what had just happened flooded in.

I had spent over a year of my life with Tamlin. And he had basically kidnapped me and forced me to drink. I held the wrist of my bleeding right hand with my left, elbows on my knees, and focused on my breathing.

A few minutes went by without event. I started checking my phone to see if Rhysand had texted or called when a voice called out from the line behind me. I hadn’t realized it had grown long enough to extend behind the bench I was sitting on.

“Hey! Come dance!” I looked over my shoulder and found a cute (very drunk) college boy beckoning eagerly from the line. I shook my head and returned my gaze to the ground in front of me, wondering if I should disobey Rhys’s order to stay where I was.

“Fine, I’ll come to you,” the same boy called out from behind me, and I started to panic. I’d had enough drunk college boys to last me a lifetime. I stood, tilting a bit, ready to dash across the street. But then he was there.

Clad in his usual dark attire, his lean swimmer’s body towered above me. “Feyre,” he said softly, easing me backward onto the bench. He kneeled in front of my hand. I was crying again. Why was I always crying in front of this boy?

“Are you okay? What happened?” He spoke so fast, so frantic, I could barely follow what he was saying. “I’m parked across the street. I had to walk around a little to find you. We were getting worried that you hadn’t shown up yet and Mor and I had just decided to walk over to your place when you called. All I heard was someone yelling ‘drink!’ and then something that sounded like gagging? And glass shattering? Mor and I took separate cars to cover a wider range of the downtown area.”

His worry clarified the danger I had been in. My tears fell thick and fast as the story poured out of me. Rhys took my hand while I explained everything. His hands were gentle as he inspected the glass embedded in my palm. I didn’t care to look at my bloody hand and instead focused on his face. As I finished recounting the night’s events, I watched his expression change from one of concern, then to disgust, before it landed on anger.

“We have to report that, Feyre.”

I snatched my hand away. “Like hell are we reporting it. Tamlin probably won’t even remember what happened. I don’t need any more attention from the coaches. Telling them this would include telling them I drank, and I’ll be kicked off the team. I want to forget that this night ever happened.”

“Okay, okay. I understand. I just--that was wrong what he did to you, Feyre. Wrong on so many levels.”

I nodded. “I know,” I said softly.

Hesitantly, he reached out and wiped away the fresh tears that had escaped my eyes. I jumped at how gentle his touch was. The anger he’d shown only moments ago had faded into something I couldn’t quite place. I opened my mouth to say something, anything, but he took my hand again, quickly, as though desperate for something to focus on. “I can only see one piece of glass in this. I can try to take it out now, but we should probably wait until we get back to Astrid Oaks.”

I sighed. Whatever I’d seen in his eyes a moment ago was gone. “Okay.”

“Let’s get out of here,” Rhys said. The shouts from the line behind us had faded for a while, but they were beginning to intensify as those in line cast around for any form of entertainment during their wait.

Rhys stood. He looked down at me, and seemed to be debating something with himself. His arm twitched, as though he wanted to grab my good hand, or put his arm around me to lead me across the street. Then he turned.

I stood and followed his lead, the world tilting and then righting itself thanks to the vodka.. “Rhys.”

He stopped in the middle of the empty street, pivoting to face me. My eyes met his violet ones, and for a second, it was just us. No noise from the bars, not a single car on the road. Everything stopped as I looked at him. As he gazed at me. “Thank you,” I said quietly. “For coming to help me.”

He cleared his throat, then started for the car again. “Anytime, Feyre darling.”

Rhys held the door to the passenger seat open for me as I climbed in. Cradling my bloody hand, I watched him dash around the front of the car before he swung into the driver’s seat. He rifled through the glove box and handed me a pack of tissues. “Sorry I don’t have anything better.”

“No, this is great. Thanks.” I grabbed the tissues and tried to wipe off some of the dried and fresh blood from my hand.

Rhys was quiet for the ten minute drive. He pulled into our neighborhood and headed for my house. Thank God. If I wasn’t up for hanging with his friends before this, I definitely wasn’t now. I had made it out of the car and halfway up the sidewalk to my house when I noticed someone sitting on my doorstep.

“Hi, Mor.”

The gorgeous blonde grinned at me, circumstances be damned. “Feyre! I’m so glad you’re okay.” She jumped up and rushed toward me. “Your hand! Oh my God. Say no more, I’ve got you covered.”

I could practically feel Rhys rolling his eyes from behind me. “Mor’s going to be a doctor one day. She never shuts up about it.”

“Don’t listen to Rhys. He’s much too dumb to even think about getting a medical degree. No doubt he has already tried telling you how to fix your hand in addition to claiming to be an expert on everything else. Well, I’m here to tell you that he’s a know-it-all and you should come to me for help with stuff like this from now on.”

Amused, I ignored Rhys’s disgruntled “Hey!” from behind me. Rhys and his group were always so serious on the pool deck--or at least any time I saw them. Even when out partying with the team, they kept to their circle. This side of Rhys, and his friend, was surprising. “With all due respect, Mor, I think I’m going to try to avoid stuff like this from now on.”

Mor’s grin widened. “I have a feeling we are going to be great friends, Feyre.”

I didn’t say anything. But despite my own history of keeping my circle of friends small, despite everything that had happened to me tonight, I smiled.

Maybe it wasn’t too late for friends.

Mor led me into the house, breezing down the hallway as though she owned the place. She pushed me into one of the chairs at my own kitchen table and started rifling through my cabinets. She found the first aid kit in record time for someone who’d never set foot in my kitchen before.

She made short work of my wound. She extracted the shard and bandaged me up with confidence, even though I was sure that as a junior she didn’t have much medical training yet. Nevertheless, her assured demeanor made me feel as though I was in very capable hands.

“Rhys, be a dear and get my phone off the front porch,” Mor asked sweetly as she finished with my hand. “I promised I’d call Azriel to give him an update. If you don’t mind, Feyre. Everyone was worried when Rhys and I explained where we were going.”

I shook my head. “That’s, uh, fine. If we can keep this whole thing within your group, though, that’d be great.”

“Of course.” She packed up the kit and crossed the kitchen to replace it within the cabinet. “If you want to talk about it, or decide you want to report that bastard’s behavior, you tell me. Whatever you want. I’ll help.” I had a feeling she’d only sent Rhys to get her phone so she could speak to me without him there. She might have even left her phone out there on purpose.

Stunned by her kindness, by her strength, I could only manage to nod.

Not too late for friends, indeed.

After sitting around my kitchen table and talking about nothing for a half hour, Mor said she was going to head back to her and Rhys’s shared place. Probably to drink the rest of the night away. I thanked her emphatically, and she merely promised me she’d be over in the morning to check on my hand and take me to breakfast. She said everything with such confidence that I didn’t even try to deny her. Her mood was infectious, even at the end of what was arguably one of the worst nights of my life. Before I knew it, she was gone, leaving Rhys and me alone in my dark kitchen.

He sighed, and moved to stand up. Before I could talk myself out of it, I placed my good hand on his forearm before he could. “Rhys. I don’t understand why you did it, but I cannot thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me. Everything you’re doing for me. Driving me home from the Halloween party, inviting me to hang out with your friend group--something I’m sure you don’t really want me messing up, and picking me up tonight. I owe you.”

His eyes, locked on my hand on his arm for the duration of my small speech, moved to meet mine. “You wouldn’t mess up my friend group. And you owe me nothing. I’ve been a crappy leader to this team, keeping to myself and my friends. You’re my teammate. And worth a lot more than you give yourself credit for.”

I withdrew my arm. “Well. Thank you. Maybe. . .”

He raised his brows.

“Maybe I can hang out with you guys some other time.”

All the tension left his face. “Anytime, Feyre darling. Anytime.”

I walked him to the door. He was all the way down the front steps before he turned and said, “I mean it. Call me if you need anything. Anytime.”

——— THREE FACTS!

1) I am an ISTJ and a Taurus...so take that what you will. I’d like to say I’m friendly, but tend to put a very large wall (of text) up so people know what they’re getting into with me and to give an explanation for my actions...as such I am very introverted and only have so much energy for interaction. This leaves me seldom to contact people in the RPC unless I have a specific idea in mind for our muses...which honestly I never do. The best is for me to just chuck a meme at people and see how our muses vibe. After that, well uh...yeah. I’m one of those RPers who have more people I interact IC than OOC cuz OOC interaction takes a lot out of me unless we somehow vibe well.

And by vibe well, I mean our muses generally interact well and aren’t apathetic towards each other. There are so many muns that I respect and consider friends and admire from afar, but we’re not close due to just our muses just not vibing as well as others (which is totes fine it’s just how things sometimes go, ya know?).

2) I am very stubborn and have a little bit of tunnel vision in my own HCs and world crafting. My muses tend to be people who hold an authoritative and demanding presence where their opinions are stated as truth...which is the complete opposite of my own personality. But I’ve learned that I have to kinda draw my lines and I feel like I can probably give people whiplash between my timid and nervous nature and when it comes to defining my muses. Honestly I’m just very flexible with molding my muses to help fit for interaction, but I do have hard lines and like to make it clear if I’m bending my characters vs how they would naturally act...I tend to make my muses push overs unless I’m like 100% comfy...and even them I make them push overs...hence the amount of my crack threads because I have no sense control and just wanna have fun...with my tight assed muses.

3) That said...I’m just a meme. My main reputation is just being that one mun who RPs a Team Rocket OC with 6 Magikarps. But I truly just have two sides. The very crackish side where (1) I’ll just throw our muses in ridiculous situations and (2) the very angst heavy side that usually only talked about due to my muses handling trauma and very apathetic and nonchalant towards breaking hearts. And as I write this out I feel like I’m giving people whiplash on whoever is reading this since they see Huffman here and is like “oh, how cute what a soft boy” and then I bring up Morax who is just a monstrosity of a muse where I’m toning him down 99% of the time because...well...(*looks at hands*) he’ll end up killing a muse 99% of the time if I don’t stop him and that isn’t fun to RP.

——— EXPERIENCE!

My first experience in RPing in general was on an old website called TinierMe and also a mobile app called VampiresLIVE (lol). However I officially started RPing on Tumblr in 2014 as a Gijinka!Groudon blog originally known as theruleroftheland. After that I’ve slowly branched out of the Pokemon RPC but hold a strong connection with the friends I’ve made there (or kinda, I’m horrible at keeping contact with others since I disappear for months/years at a time). But I’ve found I’m most comfortable writing on tumblr due to the amount of formatting and organization that comes with RPing on here.

I’m slowly branching out to Discord (thank you to my dear RP partners over there who are patient with me because I’m slow) and becoming more accustom with being social over there.

——— MUSE PREFERENCE!

Gender: 100% male to RP as. I find that I gravitate towards males since I have disconnection with male muses from myself and I like having that wall. Writing females get a little too personal for my own comfort so having that extra layer of distance really helps. Also it helps me look at things differently.

Multi or Single:

I prefer single-muse blogs to run as I like keeping things strictly relating to my muse on one blog and another muse on another. Over the years I’ve been interested in throwing my old muses onto a multi-muse blog but honestly I can never bring myself making a multi-fandom multi-muse blog due to my own heavy need for organization.

As for shipping, I work under what I call a Quasi-Single shipping (aka multi- and single- ship). I operate under the impression that my muses are in an overarching timeline of their life that is heavily affected by their relationships. As such the MULTISHIP aspect is prone to have cheating and relationship overlap. I’m into having muses naturally engage in threesomes, foursomes, lying, cheating, misunderstandings, fights, break ups, get back togethers, etc. with all muses and muns participating together in the joy of it all. Jealousy and questioning of my muses’ relationships and actions are welcomed as I like having the sense that my muses are human and things aren’t so cookie cutter.

That said I am also SINGLESHIP in the sense that most of my muses are not polyamorous and are very much interested in having an end goal relationship where they settle down and marry. With who and how that happens really depends on both my muse and my partner’s muse. So whoever my muse is really shooting to get married to and actively advances will be my main single ship partner...or really whoever is going to influence my muse the most and I can see my muse actually yearning for (which honestly isn’t that many muses *cries*).

That said...Huffman in particular is going to be really hard to single-ship with as he is 100% dedicated his entire life to his lord and savior Lord Barbatos and this is the thanks he gets to Mondstadt and he will betray his own lover and such for Mondstadt.

He is also a(ego)romantic so he has a huge disconnection with serious relationships as he will honestly treat them just like he treats every other citizen in Mondstadt and it can slowly get to any of his partners since he just thinks is just apart of his job as a partner...which is the same job he has with the people of Mondstadt.

fluff/angst/smut:

Fluff: Generally I don’t find myself interested in fluff, but I realized that is only because of my previous muses couldn’t handle fluff at all. For this particular blog (Huffman) fluff is honestly the only thing that I can offer due to the nature of his character. Fluff with the undertone of angst is going to happen a lot, it’s not going to be sugary sweet fluff but just a result of Huffman’s very grounded and relaxed nature. He is calm and level headed, very rational (a little too rational) and very determined to make sure everyone is happy...and as such angst won’t really happen because Huffman tries to avoid such things naturally.

Angst: I enjoy angst, I’m that person who loves crying and my favorite tropes (especially in shipping) is unrequited love especially when it’s with a character who has so much love and dedication to one person. As such, I find that I’m more inclined to talk about angst than actually RPing it. I’m very slow (really really slow) when it comes to RPing unless it’s crack or relaxed banter. So when it comes to angst, I like to set time aside and fully write it out...making me having to respond weeks to months later...haha sorry. Also I naturally have muses who are apathetic towards angst and other muses feelings that is hard for me to write because I’m the opposite and I get heavily invested...it takes a lot out of me.

That said...most of my angst comes from very slow burns rather than actually writing it out. It’s more of the anticipation of the heartache, breakup, betrayal, cheating, etc. that I’m more inclined to talk about than actually RP...as stated above my muses are generally cold hearted and very accepting of any consequence to their actions...they tend to be planners and expect karma to creep up on them someday.

Smut: I am very particular about smut. I personally like talking about it but actually writing it takes a lot more time for me to do. There are some words that I refuse to write (which happens to be a lot of the smutty words lol) due to how I read them in my head irks me and doesn’t flow right (my worst subject in school was English so I don’t know many words okay). As such, it takes time for me to fully write smut and even then the way I tackle it is very action oriented rather than immersive (I like to think) so uh...RIP my rp partners who want to write smut since I usually respond when I’m half asleep and have no filter and probably stare at me like “wtf did I just read?”. I’m sorry my smut partners who have to deal with me.

plot/ memes:

Memes: I’m more inclined to send memes than actually get around to responding to them. I like keeping my thread count low because I’m slow and usually memes require immediate interaction (something that I may or may not have the time for). However, most of my threads come from memes that will fizzle out over time and I eventually drop without warning- it just how it goes.

Plots: I like plotting and defining pre-established relationships. Having to start everyone off with a blank slate isn’t something I like unless it just seems natural for our muses (ie. for Huffman he probs doesn’t know many Liyue characters, but he definitely is close to Mondstadt characters at least on a name basis). As such, I tend to like establishing relationships and then going from there so I know how Huffman will interact with them.

Plotted threads, however, take a lot out of me as I like coining an idea and then having a starter be written and then go from there. If there are checkpoints to happen, I get awkward because my muses are 95% certain to shift the narrative based on what is being written and the situation that arises. So heavily plotted threads isn’t good, but defining the trajectory of a relationship is something I’m down for...mostly because I’m a quasi-single ship and 99% of my muses relationships are going to fail naturally - which is something hard to bring up when there is ship talking happen.
