20 Things Spanking Fetishists Have in Common
Sweet Tea
Tumblr media
Spankos are soulmates. The fetish hardwires our hearts and minds in remarkably consistent ways that aren’t usually apparent to others, so it’s always a bit magical when we chat. “Holy shit, you get me.” I still find it shocking how much we have in common. Can you relate to this list?
1. We’ve been like this for a very long time.
“I’m a lifelong spanko.” This is common in our community and not all that surprising, as most fetishes are formed during childhood. The vast majority of spankos I’ve met have either been this way for as long as they can remember, or can pinpoint a specific age in childhood when they became preoccupied with thoughts of the act. I can’t personally remember any point in my life when spanking didn’t fascinate me and captivate my attention.
2. It’s not a choice.
For many people, spanking is a kink. They enjoy it and find it sexy, but don’t necessarily consider it a requirement for a good time. For those with the fetish, however, spanking is a need rather than an option. Some of us can appreciate and enjoy other BDSM-related activities like bondage or wax play or needles, but spanking is central to our sexuality. This thing lies at the core of our soul and we couldn’t get rid of it if we tried.
Tumblr media
We looked up the word ‘spanking’ in the dictionary as kids, not once but multiple times. This also applied to related words like ‘paddle’, ‘switch’, ‘flog’, ‘discipline’, or ‘punish’. We knew their meanings, of course, but the act of reading the definitions was exciting—arousing, even—though we may have been too young to conceptualize the feeling as sexual. If we studied a foreign language, we sat in class and wondered in the back of our minds, “But what’s the word for ‘spanking’?”
(Is this common with other fetishes? Did foot fetishists look up the words ‘foot’, ‘high heel’, ‘stocking’, etc. at the library, bashfully looking around to make sure no one else would notice? I wonder…)
4. We have, uhhh, ‘issues’ with being around it.
Non-spankos can talk about spanking like it’s nothing, but that’s not the case for people with a fetish for it. We may turn bright red when the topic comes up in conversation or feel the need to leave the room when spankings happen in movies or TV shows. For some, this is because the idea triggers intense arousal, even more so than if straight-up intercourse were playing onscreen. For others, it’s simply too intimate and embarrassing to think about unless we’re by ourselves or discussing it in the context of a sexual encounter. When I was a kid and friends publicly proclaimed, “My mom spanked me yesterday!” I felt absolutely mortified. “How can anyone talk about THAT so casually?”
5. We think about it a looooooot.
Some researcher folks have claimed we all think about sex an average of 18-35 times a day. The fetishists I know think about spanking at least this often if not more, frequently daydreaming about the smacking of butts. A fetish is, by definition, a meticulous obsession. We live and breathe it, and never run out of things to say when chatting with other spankos. We want to meet people like us and TALK about it in detail, even if we never end up playing together. It’s our favorite means of connection.
6. Our fetish has caused us hardship.
“Do you feel like your fetish is a curse?” I’ve seen this asked quite a bit on spanko forums. Most of us had to navigate a number of challenges while growing up with this thing. We felt shame, embarrassment, and isolation after realizing how different we were, and may have worried we were crazy. Our relationships with non-spankos have likely been riddled with intimacy problems because we can’t relate to each other sexually. No matter how kinky or open-minded our partners are, they’re unlikely to understand us unless they have the fetish too. As a result, many spankos become pickier over time, ultimately refusing to date those outside of their orientation. “I’d rather be single than with someone I can’t share this with.” Until we find our people, it’s a lonely world.
7. Spanking takes priority over sex.
Every spanko I’ve ever met has put spanking at the forefront of the itinerary. It’s satisfying in its own right for a lot of folks, whether or not other sexy stuff occurs before or afterward. Some spankos identify as asexual, eschewing intercourse entirely because it doesn’t interest them in the same way discipline does. Others are extremely sexual people who focus on spanking as the main course or frequently indulge as an extended form of foreplay. This is an example of why we might experience difficulty finding balance with non-spanko partners. By the time they’re ready to move onto something else, we’re just getting in the zone.
8. It’s on our mind when we orgasm.
One of the first times I had sex with another spanko, I was blown away by the level of telepathy between us. I closed my eyes and fantasized as he licked my clit. He suddenly paused and smiled. “You’re thinking about having your pants pulled down, aren’t you?” I mean fuck, of course I was, but how did he know?! With a bit more experience in the community, I realized many if not all spankos think about it while they’re getting off. The moment thoughts of discipline enter my mind I’m aroused, but I cool off just as quickly if my focus is drawn elsewhere. If I didn’t think about spanking, I’m not sure I’d ever climax.
9. Most of us have tried switching at least once.
Some spankos like to give and receive in equal share, but many have a preference toward being spanker or spankee. I’ve noticed, though, that even the most stubborn of us who proclaim, “I don’t switch!” have tried a taste of the other side out of curiosity at some point. It makes sense to want to learn all angles of the equation. I’m in favor of the idea that everyone benefits from switching. Understanding what our partners experience makes us all better lovers.
10. We want spankings to feel as ‘real’ as possible.
Often, spankees want to cry. We want to be held down and ‘made’ to take it until our spanker is done, no matter what we say or do. This makes the experience feel more real, as if we’re truly being punished by an authority figure and have no choice in the matter. Once trust has been established, some spankees will afford their partners blanket consent and opt not to use safewords. (I don’t recommend this route with anyone you wouldn’t trust with your life. There are oodles of legitimately fucked up people out there masking their abusive tendencies as BDSM. Vet your spankers well, ladies and gents.) This all exists to enhance the pleasure of the fantasy, but isn’t an invitation to violate limits. We want our spankers to be perceptive, taking us just far enough to inspire tears and provide release, but not so far as to genuinely break or traumatize us. Finding this balance is an art form that requires empathy, intelligence, communication, and skill.
11. We all have our preferences.
What implements do you like? What are your favorite positions? What kinds of spankings are your favorite to give? Bruises or no bruises? How long do you like to go for? What kinds of behavior would earn a spanking from you? These are the sexy deets we discuss when we chat, and our answers say a lot about our personalities. It’s rare for a spanko not to have feelings about such things. More often than not, we have specific reasons for liking what we like.
12. We enjoy associated activities.
To state the obvious: spankos love butts. LOOOOOOOOVE them. Naturally, we tend to enjoy other ass-focused activities in conjunction with spanking, like anal play, doggy-style sex, enemas, thermometers, and between-the-cheeks ‘inspections’. Many of us also dig other punishment-related activities traditionally associated with spanking, like corner time or writing lines. “I will not behave like such a sassy little brat. I will not behave like such a sassy little brat…”
13. For us, spanking is its own category.
I’ve noticed a desire in the spanko community to distinguish what we like from the greater umbrella of BDSM. Clearly, spanking incorporates elements of discipline, D/s, and sadomasochism. However, what most of us mean when we mention our fetish is far more specific. We’re not talking whips, dungeons, or shibari. We’re talking traditional, domestic bare-bottom OTK punishment with hands, paddles, belts, wooden spoons, bath brushes, and other goodies found in the home. It’s a comforting, parental, for-your-own-good type of vibe wherein we call our partners Mommy, Daddy, or other titles that convey nurturing familiarity. Very different than, say, having a cold ‘master-slave’ dynamic in a relationship, which tends to be a bit too much for our taste.
14. We love every stage of the process.
A non-spanko might solely imagine the physical slapping of cheeks when we refer to our love of spanking, but that's not the long and short of the matter. Spankos adore the entire arc of the narrative. The misbehavior that led to the spanking. The threats and anticipation. Getting into position. The warm-up and removal of each layer of clothing, all the way until the spankee’s bottom is bared. The swats, first with hands, then a variety of implements. The communication surrounding lecturing and admonishment. The catharsis of tears. The slow tenderness and beauty of aftercare. The closeness the ritual inspires. The intimate drama of this entire process is deeply satisfying.
15. We distinguish between different kinds of spankings.
What is the purpose of the spanking being given? Punishment? Maintenance? Stress relief? Eroticism? This detail is important to us, for it influences the style in which the spanker spanks. Sexual spankings often involve caressing of nether-regions and start off somewhat softly, building in strength at a comfortable pace throughout a drawn-out warm-up period. Punishment spankings embody an entirely different space. They are meant to be intense, painful, and challenging to endure.
16. We watch a lot of the same porn.
My closest spanko friends and I send each other links to videos every so often. “Have you seen this one?” A lot of the time the answer is yes, for we’re drawn to the same spankers, spankees, and couples who create our favorite content. Spanking vids with a glitzier, more porny atmosphere tend to be lower on the ladder than amateur, traditionally domestic ones. Again, we want it all to feel as real as possible. The “we shot this at home while punishing actual misbehavior” setup provides more satisfaction.
17. We don’t usually watch our porn with non-spankos.
Back when I used to date vanilla and guys would ask, “What kind of porn do you watch?” I would lie and pretend porn wasn’t my thing. This is because I knew that what I watch would likely bore them. A clip with fifteen straight minutes of nothing but spanking, sans sex, would likely make a lot of people’s eyes roll back into their sockets. “So monotonous!” Once I started dating spankos, however, I found much joy in sharing, knowing we could relish each and every moment together.
18. We all want a house out in the boonies.
Ask a spanko about their goals for the future and many will answer, “I want to buy land.” This is because our activity of choice is LOUD and has the potential to disturb nearby neighbors. Nothing ruins a good time like a visit from the fuzz. The begging, screaming, and crying… they are cleansing to our souls and we wish to do them freely. It’s countryside living for us, boy howdy.
19. We’re very romantic people.
It comes as no surprise that many spankos are traditionalists. We often relish old-timey acts of devotion like marriage, opening doors, buying flowers, and cooking for our partners. Many are monogamous and like to wait to have sex until deep bonds of commitment are set in stone. Spanking is an extension of this attitude toward intimacy. We’re so deeply devoted to our partners that we refuse to turn our backs on their misbehavior, laziness, procrastination, or feelings of guilt. Instead we stay, face them, and do what must be done to help them deal with their problems, following up with plenty of aftercare involving sweetness and reassurance. Squeeee.
20. We speak the same love language.
For partners with a consensual domestic discipline dynamic, spanking is an act of love. It’s an intimate ritual centering on a potent giving and receiving of attention. A means of setting aside time to converse and communicate about the challenges of relationships and everyday affairs. A tool for strengthening the bond and balancing the energy between spanker and spankee. A way of helping one another feel “right” and “natural” in a world that so often feels like it’s tumbling off its axis. In nonconsensual or manipulative contexts, spanking is abuse. Between those of us who crave it from one other, it’s the highest form of affection.
Granted, these are solely my thoughts based on my own observations and experiences.
Anything to add, spankos?

“One minute more”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first scene after the prologue, it’s Ellen trying to bring Thomas back to bed, and to stay with her “one minute more” because “the honeymoon was yet too short”, and she wants him to take off his shoes. But he says he can’t stay because he needs to go to work, because “today is of the utmost importance for us” as he’s after a position at the firm (he already was). Ellen is displeased because she’s not yet satisfied. Thomas asks “How should I have earned such a doting wife?”
In Victorian context, a “doting wife” means a “excessively submissive wife”. Because Ellen’s sexuality isn’t hers, it belongs to her husband. And so, Thomas interprets her begging, in this scene, as Ellen fulfilling her role of a Victorian wife, of pleasing him. Because women were believed to have no sexual pleasure nor cravings at all, in the early 19th century. And so, Thomas leaves for his day work.
This scene parallels Ellen and Orlok’s scene near dawn. We already established this is something both Ellen and Orlok both want, they both know they are going to die in the physical world, a thousand times already, so I’m not going to waste time explaining that here.
Near dawn, Orlok is already engorge of blood, and he wants to stop. But Ellen begs of him “more… more…”, and he indulges her desire because he cannot resist her. And he does this for her, for her own pleasure, not for his. He already had his fill, he can barely take it anymore (he’s already spilling blood from his mouth), and Ellen is nearly drained of blood, she’s going to die soon, either way (“willingly sacrifice”). But he satisfies her craving, all the same. And as the first rays of sun begin to shine on Orlok, Ellen smiles, and there’s a “fiery reckoning in her eyes" and "she won" (as it's described in the 2023 script, even thought this script is filled with incorrect dialogue and descriptions, specially of this scene) because she got exactly what she wanted. Orlok is willing to give her the pleasure she wants and needs, even if it doesn't benefit him, even if he, himself, is already fulfilled: Orlok pursues her satisfation, and won't stop until she, too, is fully satisfied.
Tumblr media
And when Orlok looks at the rising sun, he's afraid. As Bill Skarsgård tells us in one interview, as he described the ending as “death and ecstasy”: “[Orlok is] seeing the sun for the first time in hundreds of years. So he's mesmerized by it and fear and all of these different things. And in a way, maybe that is what Orlok wanted all along." Orlok is probably aware there will be excruciating physical pain in the destruction of the rotten corpse where his soul is trapped in, and so, yes, he's scared. And Ellen embraces him, and makes him look at her, instead of the sun, silently comfort and reassuring him. They are in this together, as they are both going to die in the physical world.

Bad Kids (partially shameless projection) queer identity headcanons be upon ye
Notable that I think culturally literally anything that is not human has different ideas of gender than us. Some are very close to the point it hardly matters in a discussion like this (like elves and dwarves. It's mostly the same but I do think most elves are what humans consider to be feminine because they have a different idea of masculinity ((grace)). Or like, most dwarves seem masculine to humans for the simple reason that they all tend to have beards. Stuff like that.), but the further away you get from being hey pretty close to what a human is (like orcs or goblins) the further you stray from human understanding of how things work.
What if being intersex is way more common in a race of people, the concept of gender immediately becomes either way looser and less important or important with completely different values. Also I work under the assumption that whatever counts as "humanoids" (which is a very human-centric term but I like to think that's just because our POV is from a language that is inherently human) is a mammal and will generally have two sexes. But like, there's organisms with more or less than that, and in a fantasy world there's absolutely societies of intelligent species with similar characteristics. Imagine a weird hand wave, not relevant to this specific discussion as the bad kids are all human-shaped but it's something I find interesting. What would gender be like in that society if they had it at all? Living somewhere where that concept isn't really a thing (or at least not a thing in the way we understand it to be) sounds kinda awesome.
That said. Solace is a society mostly shaped by human standards and everyone who lives there somewhat conforms to them; and anyone who grows up there is probably socialised accordingly. Also Gorgug is adopted and doesn't seem all that connected to his roots and Riz is a third gen immigrant who doesn't get to see his extended family all that much. What I'm saying is everything I just said hardly matters in the context of the Bad Kids. Yeah. I just wanted to say it. I'm. I'm autistic. Thanks for reading my word vomit you're a real one for sticking through this far here's what I actually wanted to say.
Kristen. Obviously a lesbian. she/her and calls herself a woman but ultimately doesn't really. Care that much? About gender? And would not mind being referred to with masculine terms, it's more a matter of being afab so that's what she's going with.
Adaine I think has experimented with she/they pronouns. Often times she feels like her perception of life goes far beyond whatever societal constructs influence the present and she does not feel particularly attached to the idea of womanhood. I think she's aro spec but probably allosexual? Develops interest in all that a bit later than her friends and even then it's not. The same. She thinks guys are attractive, maybe girls sometimes, but doesn't actually feel inclined to do anything about that? Isn't looking to get into relationships or anything but yeah.
Riz is aroace because yeah. Personally I think oriented aroace because Baron being masc-ish does mean something to me, so he doesn't necessarily say it / find it relevant for other people to know but Riz personally IDs as gay + aroace. He does think some guys are attractive he's just sex repulsed lmao. I think he's the flavour of aroace where he'd happily engage in deep emotional bonds he just really doesn't understand what the fuck romantic feelings are supposed to be and how it'd be different than just loving his best friend(s) truly so much and is discomforted by the societal expectations and restrictions around the concept of "dating". ALSO about gender he's a he and its whatever. Does not care. Gender apathetic in the way Kristen is.
Gorgug isn't particularly attached to any labels, I think. He just likes who he likes, which is several people sometimes because he's also polyam. I think his lax view of his own inherent queerness has a lot to do with how open (and also inherently queer) his parents are. He just never really thought about it. Hit puberty and started thinking guys are hot and went okay this is not in any way special I'm way more worried about my favourite emo band breaking up rn. The only reason he ever came out to his friends was because he asked them for advice on how to bring up that he's polyam with Zelda (who I think was super cool with that and honestly from what we know that might be culturally normal to her), he does not consider it to be particularly noteworthy. Gorgug is similarly not particularly concerned about gender. I think he goes by any pronouns but also doesn't bring that up unless someone asks because he truly does not care or think it's a big deal.
Fabian's entire general person-ness feels queer to me idk. Bisexual and polyamorous. Probably aro-spec but he needs more time to figure that one out. Exclusively finds himself interested in women who are taller than him, this has nothing to do with being queer I just wanted to note that. He's the only one of the Bad Kids where I want to confidently say yeah this is a he/him man and he feels both comfortable in and connected to his masculinity. He ventures into gender nonconformity (starts with painting his nails, then make up, maybe a skirt when he's chilling at mordred manor) more and more as he gets older and more comfortable, I think, but that kind of only reaffirms to him that he's a man and loves being a man? Idk lol. Also for the record this is nonconformity in the context of Solace. For (high-)elven standards he's not like hypermasc dude bro but he's a pretty "manly" guy. Fallinel is like twink nation idk what to tell you. Now whether he's cis or not is a different question, while I personally think he is I do make a little mental cheer every time someone makes him trans.
Fig. They/she/it. She struggles with the disconnect she feels between her and the girl she thought she was a lot and it sucks, but eventually it does lead them to reexamine how they see themself and their identity and stuff. I think she eventually comes to the conclusion that yeah she has some attachment to femininity but ultimately exists in a space beyond the binary. Which is cool. Idk what label Fig would use, if any at all, but maybe something loose like genderqueer.
I know it's very commonly accepted that she's bisexual but like. Honestly. I think that was comphet. I think Fig is a lesbian who had some of the most horrendous comphet imaginable. None of their interest in those (concerningly) older men was genuine and it was all pretending to be someone else to get something and she isn't even sure why she wants that something that she can't quite place. And even though it longs so badly for the validation and confirmation that it's fitting into whatever role it is Fig is trying to emulate, she doesn't ever actually dare to get "serious". That's not actually what she wants. Uncomfortable and deeply concerning desperation for sexuality from a teenage girl who probably isn't a girl and certainly isn't actually interested in any of the men she's pursuing, and is so scared of just having to exist as herself deep down is such a real experience and if d20 wasn't a comedy show this could be the most visceral arc.

It’s more abt context, like all language. Diff words have diff meaning in diff contexts. All machine learning is AI. So that includes voice to text that trains itself to recognize speech more accurately.
The verification for the medical stuff is the same as drug testing. But, it’s also REALLY hard to design a molecule w the biological properties u want by hand. Most of our drugs are either modified from molecules we find in nature or simply are those molecules. We know some certain properties cause some certain effects, generally, but we also need to make sure it doesn’t do things BESIDE what we want it to do. For example. The first S in SSRI stands for “selective”. This means the ONLY major effect on ur body it has is as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor. As opposed to SNRIs which are serotonin/norepinepherine reuptake inhibitors, or other drugs that effect multiple neurological or cellular receptors. So, for example, say u want a new antibiotic. There are various potential mechanisms of action on the bacteria. U give the computer lots of data on what molecules cause what effects and it looks for similar properties to find ones that work. But. Then again. Whatever it is needs to be something with low toxicity to humans, else it wouldn’t be much use. So u probably feed it some information on some bad things to avoid. It gives u some proposals but u gotta test them bc AI can make mistakes and is inherently probabilistic. U also can’t predict against ALL the ways it could poison u, and maybe mistakes even if u could, so u gotta do some testing on that too. Standard drug trial procedure. It’s probably generally more helpful w neurological drugs bc it’s way easier to run tests agains obvious downsides, but u still gotta do tests to make sure it won’t fuck up ur body in non-nerve ways. I’m not on expert on this, I just know the vague principles and it’s possible i got some of the ai bits wrong. However. The general idea is: Basically ur body is a bunch of (like. More than u could ever possibly count) if/then gates that don’t function 100% perfectly all of the time, but average out to be largely deterministic, and drugs and poisons hijack those gates to create different deterministic-ish outcomes from the ones u’d have otherwise. The issue is that everyone’s gates and needs r all slightly different due to genetic variation and environmental factors and generalizing to all humans is impossible. So we do numbers games to get the best outcomes on average that we can. We’re using the AI to find better, newer, and safer ways of targeting the gates we want to hijack while reducing the amount we fuck w the ones we don’t specifically wanna mess with.

My favorite part of Vovo Bucchi is the way she scruffs the babies x3 cutest thing EVER!!!
If you wanted to add more beast like features to her and Ruggie, how would they look?
Grandma Bucchi is the kindest and most caring lady you will ever meet, who at the same time will not hesitate to finish you off if you hurt the children or Ruggie 😤
NOW.... Thats a good question! I like the designs of all the TWST characters, I have some favorites and others have won me over over time. BUUUUT!!! I LOVE SO MUCH the headcanons and redesigns that this fandom ends up doing for all the boys, whether it's adding details that have a connection to the hometown that each of them comes from or something more personal to each one that only adds even more to these characters!
So i would do a LOT of changes for all the boys… 🤔 Well, we'd spend a lot of time here debating that, so I'll just focus on the Bucchi family.
BY THE WAY, I have some sketches I made of Ruggie and vovó Bucchi and i gave them more beastly features! But in this case I made them both to be NPCs in an RPG that I'm helping a friend of mine set up……. But I think it would help to show the things I would add i guess???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But of course in this case it's fitting them into a D&D universe… Now if it's in the context of TWST, it would be a little different!
Tumblr media
If I'm not mistaken, Ruggie was supposed to be a spotted hyena, right? So I think it would be interesting for him to have more details that show this because… Well, I think it's hard for you to look at him and say "oh he's a spotted hyena!" right at the start. I would also give him a different hair texture and style, nothing too grand, just to further emphasize the fact that he is a hyena~
"But what would grandma bucchi look like?" Well, something like that!
Tumblr media
There are many things I could add to their designs but I really like what I have at the moment~ I might change a few things in the design of Grandma Bucchi and all the Twist families but I'll only do that in the very distant future~

"You would say any criticism or racism would hurt black men" ?????? anon what is your logic here
And yes, hatred of MEN hurts black men if that's what they meant
Why are people sending you horseshit about nothing now out of nowhere
lol someone screencapped me talking about the time a cis woman told me no Black person has any privilege over a trans woman in any circumstance to say neither I nor anyone else who talks about transandrophobia understands intersectionality and that privilige is contextual
the idea is "oh those stupid transandrobros must think we're saying trans men aren't oppressed AT ALL! how silly of them to not realize that they can oppress trans women and still be oppressed too"
Like, the way I phrased it was not abundently clear out of context. Obviously a White trans woman and a Black cis person have different things going on that makes for a multifaceted dynamic, but that's not what this girlie was saying now was it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But they let that blatant and obvious transmisogyny slide when it's being marshaled to righteously own a a trans woman they dislike. And they'll take her talking about it out of context to say she's saying literally the opposite of what she's saying, and try and convince people they're suddenly the ones who believe no one can be so marganalized as to not cause harm to people marganalized in different ways.
Conveniently, since trans men are not hated for being men and only for being trans, 'trans man' does not count as a seperate marganalization from trans women, who of course suffer for being both trans and women, and are thus, essentially, more or less, you know, the PoC of trans people. (that's sarcasm, my many enemies!)

Since people are comparing the scenes of Cailtyn hitting Vi, with Vi hitting Powder, because parallels...apparently.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So let's compare. (I'm thinking about one post specifically, but i won't engage since the person has me blocked.)
Yes, on the surface level, the premise of those scenes is similar. "A person hits a loved one because they're overwhelmed by emotions in a very difficult situation." That's the part we all see. That's not what people are complaining about. That reasoning makes sense. Caitlyn's REASONING, or lack thereof, because she's having an emotional moment makes sense. It's not excusable. Emotions are valid. Hitting someone because of them isn't. That's called abuse. Just because it's not a repeating pattern doesn't mean it's not. Caitlyn could've done many other things, yell, push Vi away, etc, but as the crowd likes to scream, no character in Arcane is perfect, so we have to take it as it is.
The main difference lies in how the situations are handled in Vi's context vs. Caitlyn's. Vi walks away, but the moment she realizes Powder is in danger, she immediately tries to come back. Anger and grief aside. The only reason she doesn't is because Marcus comes in and snaches her. And what does she do the moment she sees Powder/Jinx, even after 7 years in prison? She immediately apologizes. We can see it in her actions, in her face, in her words that she feels terrible.
Caitlyn leaves Vi in underground tunnels, and what? Nothing. She chooses to continue her quest for revenge for 3-6 months, however long the timeskip lasts. She has practically endless resources, Enforcers all over Zaun and doesn't even look for Vi. Gives no sign of even thinking about her. And when she sees her again for the first time, her first words are "you can't be here" and "you look like an angry oil slick." That's not even mentioning her "while you were gone" line during the prison cell scene. Gone? Where was she gone, Caitlyn? That makes it sound like Vi just left by herself and was out on vacation, not actively spiraling.
"Oh, but that's not the kind of person Caitlyn is. She apologizes with her actions, not her words."
And what exactly are those actions? She doesn't let her die after she gets hurt in Viktor's village? Decides to leave Ambessa's side? Well, at least she's not vindictive enough to let Vi die on the ground. Good for her, i guess. Or are we talking about her vague one-liners, the likes of "I know!" Preceeds to throw something, and "we can't undo our crimes"? I'd call that the bare minimum.
With that argument, you're essentially claiming that Cailtyn can't/won't/doesn't want to apologize for her actions after hitting her partner and abandoning them for months, like she promised she won't. What does that really say about Caitlyn? People talk about reading between the lines and then get upset at others for calling caitvi toxic when their on-screen relationship looks like that. Which one is it then? Why is that only an argument when it's comfortable for you?

mhm. what if you're too broken, in too tiny pieces, even the base too shattered to rebuild from. what if there's too little good left.
*swallow* that... that probably wasn't the most helpful answer. but I know what you mean. and I don't really have a fix or anything.
*drily, like, ironically* should probably clarify that the you in that first sentence meant me and just me. so. before you get any more ideas. because of course for Me that's Different! At least for my chaos brain tangles.
[ooc: Philosophy Below. idk brain ran away with thoughts call me if u find it /silly]
*silence, thinking over the words again* I don't know. All I can hope is that - that sentence from the movie Aria likes. When we can see no future, all we can do is the next right thing. the next little ray of sunlight. the next little moment of peace.
And if none of that is possible... Wait, and hold on, and look for them, and hope they come back soon. This is just my thoughts - my little agreement with myself. I gotta try the best I can, even if the best I can is a break from trying to recover. And then I'll know that Past Me did their best for me now and that I owe it to Future me to do my best for what they might become. Even if they weren't very successful. Like deciding that however I am right now is me too, and so I am all these things and parts, the good and the rough ones, and they all together make the full me. It's these nice little shortcut across the self blaming and infighting that take a long time to work out but help wherever they hold.
But like. I think I owe it my future self to hold on, and to get through the storms. Our past selves have come such a long way, and who knows where we'll go next, what our future selves and lives might be like. So like. I do think that new paths open up all the time, possibilities. Even if the ones now are all bad, who knows where we can still go. And the only way to find out is to try, and to do our best.
*they pull out their diary, and from the front a little calendar page* Look. I... It's one of these pages I'll keep forever and ever because I need the reminder, and give to others when they might need it. I don't know if it's right. I hope so. and I think the only way to find out is to try and hold on.
For me that's enough. That, little hopes, little good moments, even just the memory of warmth and hope and the knowledge that all that was once can come again - in different forms, maybe, but it can. *turning to lay it next to Will's sneaker*
Tumblr media
*more silence* But. Well. That's really big thoughts, and hard to see when everything is so dark. Hm. okay just to throw some thoughts out. You don't have to tell me, you don't have to think about it, just... some ideas. Little windows into that maybe, whenever you're able to look.
what do the voices say? can they maybe be talked to, or be both a little right?
is there anything you wish wouldn't stop? or come back? any little thing. ignore realism and context all that. if you were playing make-believe, your own little world, what would it look like? if you want to we can take turns. I play that game regularly cause, well, bad memory, and i probably should start again.
and... does it have to be a *bad* hurt? like. yes. you're different. stuff happened, and it changed you, and that really really hurt. you might not be the same person as before. is that a bad thing? or, you said nasty. sure. right now it's raw and painful and doesnt fit yet. but... could all these little shards grow back together and become something scarred and mended, and different?
I hope they could. I'd really miss you - not you from before, you however you are right now and however you want to be. Idk doesn't make much sense but - people if they change are still that person, right? just... changed, by a situation or because they got to know themselves better or whatever. Like Butterflies. I'd like to see the next chapter, with you if you want or just knowing there was one for you.

Love love love characters that present themselves as emotionally open social butterflies but the more you see of them the more obvious it is that they’re the most closed off fuckers in the story. Sure, they want to help you with your personal problems and messy emotions, but if you turn that shit back on them, they’ll shut down or deflect every time. Why are you sticking your nose in their business anyway? It’s not like it matters. They’re not a person, they’re just a role being played. They’re the guy who fixes things and saves people. Please ignore the man behind the mask, he’s fine. Everything’s fine.

Ok I am reading linear GH instead of working and this anon is honestly unreal - I love that they put the parts too with the dates! I am just jotting a few things that really stuck out to me and showcase your fucking GENIUS. The way you carried the themes of timing, trust, soulmates throughout everything is amazing, and its honestly fucking bananas that you were churning out a chapter a week at the beginning of this.
September 2017 (Part 3) - Facetiming
"Because as long as it’s Azzi on the other side, Paige and her impatient self can wait however long it takes."
"The younger girl makes Paige feel like it’s okay if she takes a moment to just breathe. Because Azzi will wait. Because Azzi won’t leave Paige behind."
July 2018 - I don't have a lot to note about this one but its very cute and innocent that you made Belarus be their first kiss considering they were already… well
October 2022 (Part 10) - Paige birthday surprise
a straight male flight attendant is a wild choice Nivi
"That smile, Azzi thinks, might just be the reason her world keeps turning." -> ok you use this later on when Azzi is watching Paige carry Stephie into curry camp. I can't
April 2025 (Part 14) - ARMAGEDDON
oh wow I feel like having the failed proposal so early on is going to really impact how the rest of the story feels
May 2025 (Part 11) - First Wings Game
oh my god reading the proposal then Paige's breakdown after her first Wings game is too much honestly
"Paige finds herself longing for the cold, unfeeling exterior of a foreign hotel room." -> wow you use this again when talking about how Paige prefers the hotel room when ASW is in Dallas. Comparing that to how instantly at home she feels with Azzi and Stephie in Oakland makes me wanna combust.
August 2025 (Part 8) - ASW Slow Dance
Reading them drunk slow dancing outside behind the club so soon after the proposal is truly heartbreaking and I shed a tear (or 10)
April 2027 (Part 12) - Dallas Surprise
ok seeing the gap between August 2025 and Azzi seeing Polivia when she goes to Dallas… I am kind of wondering if anything happened in the 1.5 year gap in-between… besides Olivia sinking her acrylics into Paige
May 2027 (Part 12) - PREG
I picture Tristan looking like Tyler from this past season of love is blind - good looking light skinned guy with a breeding fetish (not a parenting desire thought lol)
It will never not amaze/impress me how you managed to make Stephie exist because of Paige in two different ways
December 2027 (Part 5) - Polivia Matrimony
reading the pre-wedding phone call HITS SO MUCH HARDER with all the context. Dear god.
Drew really doesn't hold back when he dislikes the person his sister is romantically involved with eh?
"hey there little bean. I’m your-” she stops because what is she, “I’m your Paige,” -> MOMMY
August 2028 (Part 7) - LA olympics
I love that we go from the wedding to this relationship being in absolutely shambles
I've said it before I'll say it again, Olivia is so valid for fucking hating Azzi
April 2029 (Part 8) - Paige Drunk Phonecall
Wow Clem must think Paige is an absolute barbarian based off that phone call
September 2029 (Part 2) - Paige Stephie meet
This one hit really hard too when read in context. Paige has for sure seen pics of Stephie on Instagram or on the sidelines at games and thought about Azzi being a mother, actually holding that little bean would be so emotional.
April 2030 (Part 9) - HUMPIN
Reaaaallly didn't take much for them to get back into bed
August 2031 (Part 13) - ASW Hoodie Autograph
This is another gap that sticks out to me when put in context. Like they had sex and then nothing for 1.5 years when they briefly cross paths again. Obviously Azzi was busy with a toddler but without even Olivia to distract her I can imagine Paige just being so depressed wallowing in Dallas.
August 2032 (Part 13) - LAST TIME
Again seeing this in sequence stood out to me as they had sex SIX MONTHS before the story technically 'starts'… and of course have an argument/encounter that is pretty intense. I have to admit I thought it was a bit out of place how ANGRY they were in chapter one and how much they didn't want to encounter each other let alone be on the same team, especially given the fact that they had slept together a few times and had non-angry interactions. The balcony scene here really puts things in perspective. All they want is each other, but they are so damn stupid lol
February 2033 (Part 2) - Paige signs contract/ice cream date
Ok it is actually so funny that when we first got this chapter and Paige saying "“She was the most beautiful girl in the world,” “she still is.” seemed like a really bold move of Paige… in context they fucked 6 months ago its not bold at all
March 2033 (Part 5) - "It wasn't over, it still isn't over" notebook scene in Steph's office
Alright this is getting really long but I will echo what other people have said… they got together SO QUICKLY. Wild considering I remember when getting the weekly updates being so impatient for them to get together but they are making out/'taking it slow' like … 3 days after P moves to Oakland
ANYWHOOOO You are the best and I can't wait for the rest of the story ❤️❤️ 🦫🦫
Thank you my love, that means a lot to me. To be fair, those first few chapters were relatively shorter than the ones I've put out more recently and honestly, the story was still relatively simpler back then.
LMFAO I wasn't even thinking about male attendant stereotypes while writing that ngl
I want to pretend that some of these repeated lines were intentional artistic genius, but I have to admit that it is at least partially just me running out of things to say lmao.
I lowkey forget the drunk slow dancing scene exists but yeah that was for sure an insane moment of them
Polivia sounds like polio which sounds like a disease which makes sense...
But I don't think much happen in those one and half years, especially because they barely see each other the first half of it, since Azzi's not in the W yet and then their first year with both of them in the W is just very awkward, but every time they see each other other, Azzi especially, they miss each other.
Drew did everything in his power to stop that wedding lol
Olivia is valid in every single feeling she feels to be honest like that girl suffered for absolutely no mistake of her own
All they needed to fuck was a little bit of liquor and both of them single lol
Paige was either sulking and celibate of fucking every woman with a pulse that year but it's up to interpretation for y'all what happened the year after the divorce
Ahh I'm so glad you mentioned this because really I think a lot of how they behave only really starts to make sense after you've gotten all of the events and Linear anon putting the events in order makes it all make more sense. They're angry at each other because the argument is fresh and it's also easy for them to fall back into each other, because if we're being real, they already had relapsed a couple of time.
LMFAO yeah it took them literally a second which wasn't my original plan. I was gonna have a lot more back and forth but I also felt like they were in a place, where sort of going too fast just happened naturally and added to the conflict later on.

How 2 Phone
I often see my fellow neurodivergent and/or younger friends absolutely crippled by the inability to make even simple phone calls, and it was perplexing to look at myself and find that for the most part- despite all traits indicating I SHOULD struggle with this too (as I struggle deeply with in-person convos)- I do not. Then I realised that this is because at a very young age my mum sat me down and TAUGHT me how to do it, step by step, so I'm going to relay what she taught me and hope it will help somebody the way it helped me.
DISCLAIMER: this was learned originally in the context of the UK and it's something I still use effectively for german calls in Switzerland. I don't know what americans do maybe they have secret phone codes I don't know, adapt as needed I guess
---
First thing to remember is that, if you are calling some kind of office or support or business or organisation of any kind: they are doing this ALL DAY, even if you fuck up as spectacularly as it's possible to fuck up and stumble over every single word, you are still just a blip in their workday of many many many calls. they will not care.
Second thing to remember is that because they're doing these calls all day, all they actually want from you is the information to complete the task you give them. You don't have to be a ~conversationalist~ or even particularly friendly. Generally speaking you can just apply the following template to every call, and just be a very basic level of not-rude and say your thankyous and that's all you need
Third thing: Though not necessary, it's useful to develop a "phone voice" where you sit up straight and speak extra clearly and brightly, like you're in a theatre play. This makes you easy for the other person to understand (especially on bad lines), and reminds you that it's all a repetitive sequence of lines like a script and this is NOT a social situation.
THE TEMPLATE:
(a possible step 0 is getting through the auto line, which is just pushing buttons so I'm gonna assume we've got through that already as well as the deep fried hold music and a real person has now answered the phone)
"Hello, my name is [firstname lastname] and I'm calling because [reason]." --- Reason for this step: they need your name because they need to know how to address you on the call, and telling them the context for the call will help them know what to do next. They too have "templates" and have usually done them many many times, they just need to know which one they need to select for this call. I say this exact phrase the same way every time I make a call like this: a strong opener can help your confidence and you can practice it off call if you like. Don't treat it like a conversation, just say the whole thing and move to step 2
Stop and wait for instructions and/or questions --- Reason for this step: Now it's the other person's turn to figure things out, and you are in the passive role. This is when you get asked things like customer number, date of birth, doctor's name etc., all the things that they need to look up on their computer. This will go on until they have all the details they need and then they will move to the next step.
They will ask you again about your reason for calling, answer in exactly the same way as before or go into greater detail as needed. --- Reason for this step: The first time you did this was like the movie trailer that let them vaguely know what to expect, this one is where you have their full attention and they will begin to handle your task. You didn't mess up the first time they just needed to get all their questions out of the way first and are now clear for your queries.
More details, figuring out stuff, getting transferred --- This is the most chaotic and unpredictable step because it will be different for every call and varies depending on what you're trying to do. Good luck, and repeat steps 2 and 3 as needed (or start again from 1 if you get transferred)
When done, they will ask you "is there anything else I can help you with?" --- Reason for this step: Sometimes people will call with several things they want to do at once (open a credit card account AND check their balance, for example) and so this is part of their call template. Feel free to give this a few seconds of consideration: I like to pretend to think even when I know I have nothing, because sometimes I DO randomly think of a question I'd like to ask, or it's just a nice cooldown moment to gather my thoughts. A common question I find myself asking is "do I need to bring anything?" for when I make appointments. 99.9% of the time I don't need to bring anything, but having the confirmation of "no, you don't" gives me some extra peace of mind.
"Okay, thank you very much, have a nice day!" --- Reason for this step: This lets them know that you're going to end the call, and they'll respond in kind and (usually) hang up first. Sometimes they may jump in with a "you may receive a rating form/call/whatever to rate the service you received on this call", just let them get this out of the way (they are required to say it), say "okay, thank you, I will!" and repeat your goodbye a second time. This closing farewell is another thing you can say exactly the same way every time, and you can practice off call if you like.
That's it! In my experience very very few official phonecalls will deviate from this format, and even if the person on the other end is being unusual you can generally just barge ahead and impose it on them and they will fall in line lol

Still very wild to me when people try to gotcha Jason with the whole "if you can kill other people for being evil why can't they kill you" when jason is like. One of the most passively suicidal characters I've ever seen. What if man
#augh i dont want to cw this because im just talking about The Character and i feel bad when i do it for characters but i probably should#suicide mention#ask to tag#while im here i do absolutely believe hes been suicidal since jaybin times. maybe even before just in different ways. but like#going into that building with shelia? yeah#now. i DONT think he was aware of it and if youd ask him hed say no fully believing thats the truth#but like if a ghost jaybin had some introspection time i think he'd maybe eventually be like yeah#his outcomes to him were have a loving parent or die and hes a very big fan of ultimatums like that.#but he doesn't fully see it like that as jaybin because oh hes a hero and saving others when no one else can is what heros do :)#ramble. ivee been feeling it lately yknow how it is#ive once saw a post saying jason was planning to die after the joker was dead in utrh and yeagh i can see that#he puts A BOMB in his HELMET#suicidal characters in the context of hero stories are so fascinating to me. the self sacrifice.#the not caring about your own safety as long as you save someone else. the pushing yourself#the way itd be so easy to make it look like they just fell in battle. to be considered a hero in the end#anyway ive been glancing at suicidal jason todd fics. how bad is it that im still getting mad about characterization#because theyre not killing him right#AND ANOTHER THING. since im here and i try to avoid making posts about The Character like this so might as welk get it all out#think about suicidal jaybin as well as the fact 80s bruce very much considered suicidal people/people attempting like#weak and lazy? yells at them? i think thats about it. Very Much. je seems to straight up just hate them#again very much feel free to ask me to tag this one ^-^'#and i hope no one thinks im being callous here im very worried about that. i just its a very important part of his character to think about#and its fun to explore as someone who is passively suicidal myself#jason todd analysis#anyway no one look at me i am in my corner just rotating him#WAIT to clarify i dont think jaybin fully realized Just becauceof the heros sacrifice thing. i made it sound like that i believe#anyway. if you read him as suicidal since jaybin times and go to ditf with that lens like i did. well. the post death victim blaming..

Let me add another nuance: not every request is an unwanted request.
I think another influential factor is the difference between
- How unwanted the requester perceives their request to be, and
- How unwanted the request actually is.
If the request is neutrally received, but the requester thinks/assumes you don't want to do it, there are two outcomes. Either they will put forward consequences immediately to threaten you into doing it, or they will start planning and acting as though the request will certainly remain unfulfilled.
See: parent yelling when you don't jump up when they call VS parent huffily doing the thing themself instead of waiting for you to finish what you were doing.
Both of these require a blatantly negative outlook on the world that assumes asking anything of people is intrinsically unwanted, and no one actually wants to help, do something for them, or contribute to a common cause for any reason other than avoiding punishment. (I don't know why this is a parent thing, but in my experience this is a parent thing.)
Basically, your "soon" may be wholly neutral, meaning "within the most reasonably immediate time frame" and the requester will still project their own negativity on you.
On the other end of the spectrum are people who act as though any request they make of you is some kind of gift. This is obnoxious in rather the same way as the first category, because now your objectively neutral responses are again at risk of being read as unwillingness -for not being sufficiently cheery and enthusiastic.
....
Typically, most people in normal everyday contexts assume requests they make are neutral, and -speaking as someone whose base state is not wanting to do things- remaining neutral in the face of them is the best way to win time and grace when the request is actually unwanted and you're gonna have to bite your teeth to get a move on for it (see: being Found By Emails, project manager asking for your timesheet, random meeting request at 4pm, etc)
But even so, even if you try hard to assume "request neutrality", we all carry our history with us, and project it on the requests and reactions of others. Does my friend really expect me to be packed and ready the moment she says "we should be going soon" or is that the influence of my impatient parents? Am I correct to assume my pants won't be clean for my trip next month if my husband says he'll do laundry soon, or is that just my own dislike of doing laundry?
I'd summarise it as, we're actually not that good at this communication thing as a species. We're all just making assumptions from a statistical sample of 1 (ourselves) and projecting those onto the behaviour of others to interpret it, and it's kind of miraculous that we don't have much more communication failure than we do.
My problem with communicating urgency is that I'm from a family where needing to get something done in 30 seconds means needing to get it done in 30 seconds - there was one time I was eating a sandwich when my mom asked me whether I could take the dogs outside. I was holding the half-eaten piece of bread in my hand, presenting it to her and saying "yes, but can I finish eating this first?" and she said okay, you finish it first. She was out of the door with the dogs before I was done with eating half a sandwich. Right now means right now.
So when I say "okay, just a second, I'll be right there" it means something along the lines of "I have something on the stove/loose needles scattered everywhere/I am covered in ants, and I only literally need a handful of seconds to put my work away safely before I can get there", but people who weren't raised this way interpret it either as "I will be there to help you in 5-15 minutes" or "I'll get there in 3-5 business days and if you haven't fixed your shit on yor own by the time I get there, I'm going to beat you with it."

i have... ✨Danyal Al Ghul Headcanons✨ but specifically for my yaelokre danyal oneshot
There's also the tumblr post here but I recommend the link in the title because its the ao3 version, and that one is edited and has some stuff in it that's not in the tumblr post, and will be the version I'm using.
So for summary: this Danyal is also from a Demon Siblings Au where Danny is five years older than Damian. However, things turned out a bit differently, and Danny and Damian had a fantastic relationship with one another. Danny loved music and regularly came up with songs to sing to Damian with. Specifically the folk band Yaelokre's EP "Hayfields" (seriously go fucking listen to it its sooo good. Harpy Hare is the second song but its my favorite. Special shoutout to @gascansposts for introducing the band to me)
He falls off a train when he's twelve and Damian is seven while the two of them and Talia are on mission. He ends up with magically induced amnesia and wakes up in Arkansas while the Fentons are on their yearly Divorce-iversary visit to Aunt Alica, and since he can only remember his name, he ends up being taken into their care.
---------------
Yaelokre Danny has the same facial scar as Things in Threes Danyal, since he was initially another version of him where things turned out better. I'm debating on whether or not I should take it away however, and give him a different scar (maybe from when he fell off the train?), just because the scar is a pretty key identifier for Ti3 Danyal.
-----------------
Danny frequently visits Aunt Alicia in Arkansas! Well, only after he gets settled in and stuff. He doesn't really like the city that much and prefers the countryside where Alicia lives. I know she lives in a cabin but I'm changing it to a farm, so she puts Danny to work and gets him to help her.
I don't want to confine his hobbies to only being star stuff, because people tend to have more than one hobby and I feel like it reduces him to one-dimensionality, so he likes to garden, and learns guitar. His room becomes filled with plants, and he turns their roof into a rooftop greenhouse right below to OPS Center.
He has a complex relationship with the weapons from his past, but he's not... like... appalled by it? When he finds his weapons in the Fenton attic all he thinks is that they're his weapons, and he starts carrying a knife on him afterwards. Essentially he becomes fascinated with weaponry because its one of the few physical ties he has to his past, and while he's not training like he is in the League, he allows his strong muscle memory to guide him through his katas.
Danny likes climbing things. This causes Problems For Everyone Else.
----------------
Danny was not the "kinder Al Ghul" in the League. His kindness extended to his brother and family, and that's it. To everyone else he had high expectations out of them, and the pride you'd expect from the grandson of Ra's Al Ghul and trained by its top members. While he wasn't like, unnecessarily cruel or anything, he wasn't merciful either.
This transfers post-train fall as him coming off as no-nonsense and unforgiving. He's not fond of the idea of giving people second chances, and is skeptical of the idea. He's disgusted by incompetency and views it as an unforgivable offense, especially if he thinks that the person should know better, although he's not sure why. Some egocentrism for the soul.
He doesn't like being touched by anyone who isn't family, and gets irritated when anyone grabs him or holds onto him for extended amounts of time. Dash has gotten hit so many times. With Jack Fenton's tendency for abrupt physical affection, it doesn't make it any better. I'd argue it'd make it worse because Danny doesn't want to be touched more often than not.
------------------
Danyal had a red scarf in the League that he wore on his last mission, it came off before he fell off and caught itself on the roof. Damian still has it and took it with him to Wayne Manor. He's got it locked in his room and takes it out when he's alone and missing Danny the most. One time he forgot to put it away before leaving his room, and Dick was visiting the manor for something and found it. Damian found him holding it and freaked out.
Dick could only say "I've never seen you wear this, Damian, this is really pretty--" before Damian shoved him to the floor and stole it out of his hands, before screaming at him; "Don't touch this! You don't ever touch this! This is mine! You hear me!?"
It caused such a commotion that the rest of the family present came to see what the fuss was about, and Damian kicked them all out of his room. Dick is the one brother Damian's the closest with, so the fact he reacted so strongly shocked them all.
This is likely what leads to the "Danyal" conversation.
#dpxdc#danny fenton is not the ghost king#dp x dc#dpxdc crossover#dp x dc crossover#danyal al ghul au#yaelokre danny#yaelokre danyal al ghul#the yaelokre danny post didn't really go into him interacting with other people but i'm trying to figure out his personality post amnesia#just know this: he's not canon danny. im spitefully refusing to make him a Cookie Cutter of canon danny because the idea pisses me off lmao#he's complex and confused and morally gray even with the amnesia bc memories aren't stored in one part of the brain they're stored#in different parts depending on the memory and muscle memory exists and danny might not actively remember the things that shaped him but hi#body does. and somewhere deep in his mind so does his brain. his memories weren't destroyed theyre locked away in a place where his active#conscious can't reach. plus its magic amnesia and i have comic AND cartoon realism on my side.#danny's personality from the league doesn't get challenged that much by the fentons because danny's learning this about himself just as muc#as they are. Jazz can't “Fix” what's wrong with him when neither of them know it and Danny is always the first to figure it out and then#keeps it to himself. Also. Jazz has a fucking life? she's not the family therapist she has friends and hobbies even if we the viewers don't#see it. But also i just really deeply despise the idea that Jazz “fixes” danny's league issues just by existing and being the therapist#because it waters her down into a one-dimensional character who only exists in the context of providing emotional support and life advice t#danny. also therapy only works on someone that's actively trying to change. otherwise its just psychoanalyzing and people tend to hate#being psychoanalyzed without consent. which as a result may have them refuse help. anyways point is: i believe that growth is slow and#complex and danny would hide a lot of the stuff he discovers about himself because if there's one thing he still retains from being an#assassin. it's how to hide. he likes jazz but there are some things you just hide from people.#damian also told dick to “keep his filthy hands off his things”. which was also a shock because it sounded something he'd say more to tim#damian was distraught the entire time.#okay thats all i have for now.

The "Dan Heng is Dan Feng" dogmatics annoy me a lot. It entirely brushes off one of the most interesting and prevalent questions posed by the game, incarnated by several characters and stories that give the question different hues with different potential answers, and a constant also in HI3, like a thread waving the two games together
#The question about what makes a person themselves is super interesting#Is it the memories? Is it personality? Is it body? Is it resemblance? What about narrative reiteration?#Bronya is not Silver Wolf but they're both HI3 Bronya but also they're not#Is March the same person she once was? What about the Trailblazer? Welt looks at Himeko and Silver Wolf and feels like drowning#but he is looking at nothing other than something eerily recognisable#Vidyadhara are reborn anew as if washed clean but Dan Heng's process was skewed. What does it mean to Dan Heng?#He has the body he has the moves he has the stern haughty air he has muddy memories he can't quite recall but something stays#Is he or is he not the same? Where does one end and the other start? Where do they overlap?#Does how others regard him influence whether he is or isn't Dan Feng?#Does the memories of others weight more than your own memories and will?#What does constitute a person? How is selfhood constructed? What are the ontological implications of all this?#If you respond to these questions one way in one context when it comes to one character‚ can you confidently reply the same thing#in a different context for a different character? If not‚ why? What does it say?#It's not a straight up answer. The question is what's interesting and it's what makes Dan Heng's story interesting#Seeing it dogmatically negated mainly for the purpose of a ship annoys me a lot#It is a constant in HSR but it's even more clear after playing HI3. This problematic about what constitute identify and selfhood#and whether or not they're the same thing is a constant there too. With Kiana‚ with Otto‚ with Kevin‚ with Fu Hua‚ with the simulations#of the Flame Chasers most notably with Mobius but in general with the continuation of their goals and feelings‚ Klein as human and as ELF‚#the iteration of consciences of the Herrschers‚ the puppets of the Herrscher of Domination‚ the influence of the Herrscher of Corruption‚#the many times characters are found in different universes being slightly different yet recognisable‚ the amount of times characters seem#to reiterate existences in different eras‚ echoing past selves with past faces yet different‚...#And usually it's not easy to respond to all of them with the same answer‚ which only opens more questions. It's extremely interesting#and it's obviously a topic Honkai as a game cares about a lot. But no. Nothing matters. Dan Heng *is* Dan Feng yes or yes no questions asked#No problematic. No questioning. No doubts. All usually because of a ship. That the drive. I don't know... I'm all for shipping#but I quite dislike when shipping gets so out of hand it crushes and brushes off good writing or core motifs in a text. It's... shabby#And it saddens me haha. Why do you even care about these characters and their dynamic if you're erasing core traits of them as characters?#Abfkabdkkd anyway...#I talk too much#I should probably delete this later#But I had to vent a little. It annoys me a lot this kind of approach to analysis what can I say
