You really out here thinking BakuDeku won't be close anymore after 431 (a chapter that can freely be ignored, if you choose) when we all know darn well the moment they arrived to their respective homes they texted or called each other to tell the other they made home safely and discuss their next meet-up?
Just because Midoriya said "no" one time doesn't mean the relationship is forever tattered.
You can say no about something to someone and still be close to that person, especially if said person understands you and respects your decision. Which I'm sure Katsuki Bakugou is capable of.
Come on!
Like, "no" is really going to stop those two from ever talking again and fighting villains together. As if they won't go see the next All Might documentary or something together.

༉‧₊˚. part two to love in recovery ✧˚ · . bakugou cant stop thinking about you, he reflects on your moments together during the last few weeks and decides hes gotta see you! one problem though, schools are out of session for winter break and he has no idea where to find you. thankfully theres midoriya!

bakugou was in what he believed was a state of despair. his mind, usually consumed with concerns about hero work and his so-called “publicity problems,” had recently become fixated on something entirely different: you.
it all began when bakugou was enlisted to help out during finals week at his old high school. the hero course students were gearing up for a practical exam against pro heroes. he remembered his own practical exams, which were conducted by his old teachers. this time, however, the school decided to mix things up by bringing in younger, fresher heroes. the idea was to inspire the students and give them a chance to work with their idols, pros they don't get to see on a daily basis. additionally, it provided a great opportunity to boost the young pros' hero rankings–
and it was a nice tax break for the agencies involved.
“itll be nice to roam those familiar halls, and visit our old teachers and our classrooms, where our forgotten youth still lingers.” tokoyami remarked, his voice heavy with a wistful undertone. they all exchange uneasy glances before kirishima placed a comforting hand on tokoyamis shoulder and cleared his throat.
“yeah something like that man– heard midoriya talking about a few new heroes joining in,” kirishima added shifting the focus.
“yeah! heard recovery girl finally retired. the new one’s apparently a cutie,” kaminari said leaning back into his seat with a wide grin.
“she is! izukus invited her a couple times when we met up with our old group,” uraraka said, her face lighting up with enthusiasm. “she’s got this really warm, friendly vibe. every time ive worked with her, she’s been so caring and attentive. it’s clear she really loves what she does”
“yep! she’s healed me once! she really knows her stuff–her quirk is impressive, shes also got this reassuring presence that makes you feel better just being around her,” tsuyu added with a smile.
“who cares about that kind of crap?” bakugou grumbled, rolling his eyes. “didnt meet up to talk about some new nurse. what i want to know is what kind of target practice we’re dealing with for the next two weeks."
the group let out a unified sigh as the conversation shifted back to their work. they shared notes from the recent sports festivals and began detailing the students they’d be testing, outlining the quirks and abilities to expect. each pro hero reviewed the information attentively, mentally preparing for the demanding two weeks ahead.

 on the first day of finals, the six pros entered the building, the familiar halls of u.a. stirring memories of their own time as students. the air was thick with anticipation, a mixture of nerves and nostalgia that tugged at their senses. aizawa met them at the entrance, his usual tired expression softened slightly as he acknowledged his former students with a curt nod.
“you’re cutting it close,”aizawa murmured, gesturing for them to follow him. “the students are already in the testing site, so we need to head there immediately”
“apologies, mr. aizawa," tokoyami added, his tone somber. "i feared glimpsing the shadows of our past selves, the echoes we once cast.” his words left the group staring at him awkwardly.
“he missed the bus,” kirishima clarified with a shake of his head. aizawa nodded, already familiar with tokoyamis, interesting demeanor. there was no time for pleasantries or catching up with their old teachers, as they were already running a bit late. the group moved swiftly through the corridors, their footsteps echoing in the quiet of the school.
as they rounded a corner, they passed by the infirmary. the door was slightly ajar, and midoriya was leaning casually against the doorframe, his posture relaxed. he was engaged in conversation with someone inside, his voice carrying a tone of lighthearted teasing that caught their attention.
“yeah, well, let’s hope we don’t run into each other too much today. if the students stay injury-free, you might actually get a chance to relax!” midoriya’s smile was bright, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he spoke.
bakugou barely registered midoriya’s words, his attention immediately caught by the soft, warm laugh that followed. 
“god, i wish,” you replied with a playful sigh, amusement lacing your voice. “but if these kids are anything like aizawa described you, i’ll probably end up needing help myself.”
as the group walked by, bakugou’s eyes were already peering in, there you were standing in the infirmary, leaning against a counter with a white coat draped over your frame. the crisp, clean fabric paired nicely with the light color of your sundress which fell loosely around you. your arms were crossed casually, and the cheeky grin on your face sent an unexplainable jolt through him.
for a brief moment, bakugou’s mind scrambled for an explanation—had one of these brats used their quirk on him? his palms grew damp, a slight prickling sensation tingling beneath his skin, but he quickly dismissed it, convincing himself it was just the heat of the building, the stress of the upcoming practicals. but deep down, he knew that wasn’t it.
your eyes briefly met his as they walked past, and the world seemed to snap back into focus. he scowled, turning his gaze back to the path ahead, but the image of you lingered in his mind, seared into his thoughts like a stubborn ember refusing to die out.
“damn brats,” he muttered under his breath, more to himself than anyone else, as they continued on their way to the testing site. but his usual biting tone lacked its usual conviction, the warmth of your laugh still echoing in his ears, a sound that somehow felt both familiar and entirely new.

at the end of the day, bakugou found himself walking down a very familiar hallway, telling himself it was only because this was the way he’d come in. why wouldn’t he leave the same way? his idiot friends were probably lost, trying to find their way out of the school from the testing site, so it only made sense to take this route.
right?
as he continued down towards the front entrance of the school, he just so happened to pass the infirmary.
he noticed two students exiting the room. one of them had a faint blush on his cheeks—probably a reaction to your quirk. bakugou’s mind flashed back to his first time being healed by recovery girl. even though she was an old lady, the awkwardness of the whole process still made him flush with embarrassment. he couldn't imagine how much worse it wouldve been if the healer had been someone like you someone younger.
just then, he remembered the scratch—no, more like a faint slash—on the right side of his forehead. 
might as well get checked out while he was here, he reasoned. hed be cursing himself if that damn wound messed with his performance during his shift later. plus, if he was going to be dealing with more students tomorrow, he needed to be at his best.
with that excuse firmly in mind, bakugou took a deep breath and headed towards the infirmary, trying to ignore the way his pulse quickened, though he figured it was just the tightness of the quirk nullifying bands around his wrists. it couldnt have anything to do with you.
he stepped in quietly, noticing how you were engrossed in paperwork, likely documenting all the students you’d treated that day. the room was filled with the soft rustling of papers, and the sterile scent of antiseptic lingered in the air. bakugou stood at the doorframe for a moment, feeling like an idiot the longer he stood there. despite his intense glare, you seemed completely oblivious to his presence.
with an irritated huff, bakugou strode over to one of the infirmary beds and dropped himself onto it, the springs creaking under his weight. the sudden noise finally jolted you out of your focus. your eyes snapped up, widening in surprise, and bakugou smirked to himself when he saw your hand tighten around your pen, like you were ready to use it as a weapon against whoever dared to intrude.
“got hit,” he stated flatly, pointing at the cut on his forehead.
you raised an eyebrow, “oh? pro hero dynamite got bested by a couple of kids?” you teased, your tone light but your eyes filled with a playful glint.
from you, his usual scowl deepening. “second, they made me go easy on those brats. ‘course they landed a hit. not like they could keep up with me.” he said, mimicking the instructors’ voices with exaggerated annoyance. “‘told me i couldn’t just fail them all, it would ruin their self-esteem.”
he grumbled, still irked by the memory. he couldn’t shake the irritation gnawing at him. he was totally against going easy on them; he knew firsthand that failure was crucial for getting stronger. it wasn’t about being a jerk—it was about giving them the chance to face their weaknesses and improve. he was pissed off that they were missing out on that important lesson. but he also knew that if he defied the rules, it would only make things worse for everyone. so, as much as it grated on him, he followed the damn rules.
as he watched you move closer to him, he noticed you were trying to hold back a smile, he also saw the glint of amusement in your eyes, which made his chest tighten in a way he wasn’t used to. while you inspected his forehead, he felt an odd vulnerability. 
he felt your gaze scan his entire body, a mix of frustration and discomfort bubbling beneath the surface as your closeness stirred unsettling feelings. a strong heat rose at the back of his neck, and he tried to distract himself by focusing on the wall behind you. when your eyes finally landed on his wrists, you picked up one of his hands and examined it with even greater intensity. your shocked expression was unmistakable, and it was clear you couldn’t hide it.
“they slapped these on too,” he grumbled, gesturing to the heavy weights strapped to his ankles. he couldn't stop himself from trying to show off a little bit more, “said it was to ‘even the playing field.’ whatever that means.”
you hummed thoughtfully, gently inspecting the quirk-suppressing bands. “they really didn’t want you going all out, huh?” you murmured, your tone both curious and sympathetic.
he huffed, crossing his arms defensively. “if i hadn’t been wearing all this crap, they wouldn’t have landed a damn finger on me.”
he pointed to the small cut on his forehead again, a slight tilt of his head trying to hint that he was expecting something. he remembered the conversation with his friends when they were going over the students quirks, someone had mentioned that you were like recovery girl or something, using a quirk that required a kiss to heal. he didn’t get why you had to be so soft about it, but he also didn’t want to look like a complete idiot and ask for it directly.
“what, you think i’m here for a band-aid? just get it over with already.”
you stared at him with an odd look on your face. after a moment of silence, you muttered a quiet, “right,” before your lips brushed lightly against the cut on his wrist. the warmth of your touch was unexpectedly soothing, sending a strange flutter through his chest that he quickly shoved aside.
“all set!” you said softly, moving over to your desk to busy yourself with paperwork. he glanced at the mirror, checking the spot where the cut had been. satisfied, he started to leave but paused when he heard you chuckle softly.
“what’s so funny?” he asked, irritation mingling with curiosity.
“oh, nothing,” you replied, “just picturing you going easy on a bunch of kids. it’s hard to imagine.”
he grunted in response, feeling a rare twitch of amusement at the corners of his mouth. it was an unfamiliar sensation, and he didn’t know how to process it, which seemed to be a recurring theme in this room.
“don’t get used to it,” he warned, “next time, those brats won’t know what hit ‘em.”
you rolled your eyes, finally allowing yourself to smile as you watched him head toward the door. “try not to get hit again, dynamite,” you called after him, half-teasing, half-serious.
he glanced back at you, smirking. “don’t hold your breath.”
bakugou made his way down the halls toward the front of the building, a strange shift occurring within him as he thought about the odd sensations he’d experienced in your room. he’d always prided himself on being the toughest, most unbeatable guy around—someone who didn’t need anyone’s sympathy or affection. he certainly didn’t care for any of that sappy, lovey-dovey stuff.
but after you gave him a quick kiss on the forehead and let out that soft laugh—just like the one he’d heard earlier, but this one had been for him—he felt an unfamiliar warmth. your playful teasing, the way your cheeks flushed as you avoided his gaze, and the gentle touch as you healed his cut all lingered in his mind. as he walked out the doors of ua, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he might actually care about that ‘kind of crap.’

after that, he stopped by every day, always after the students were gone. he didn’t want them getting the wrong idea about his frequent visits. he was only coming by because it was convenient and you were tolerable. plus, you just happened to be on his way out, so he figured he might as well check in to make sure you weren’t slacking off. with the kids getting roughed up more than usual because of him, it was his duty as a pro hero to ensure the school’s support staff could handle the extra strain.
they had reached the end of the week, marking the completion of the first half of finals. students would rest over the weekend to prepare, as next week the rest of the second-years and first-years would be taking their tests. after that, school would be out for winter break and the young pro-heros would get to go back to working full time. 
today, he decided to check in and ensure the infirmary was fully stocked. it wouldn’t do for you to run out of supplies in the middle of finals. he couldn’t focus on his part if he knew the kids wouldn’t get the proper care they needed afterward. so he had to make sure you had everything you needed for the upcoming week.
he marched in with his usual scowl, pretending to inspect the shelves while you stared at him, an eyebrow raised in confusion, “do you need anything dynamite?”
“making sure youre all stocked up.” he grumbled, refusing to meet your gaze. “don’t need any of these brats whining because you’re out of bandages.”
“oh? you know, i’m perfectly capable of keeping things in order,” you teased, leaning back against the counter with that same cheeky grin that had been haunting his thoughts.
as if on cue, he’d suddenly remember a tiny scratch on his cheek today. they were always minor injuries—barely worth a second glance—but he made a point of showing them to you, as if they needed your immediate attention, always saying something like:
“got a cut on my finger. don’t need a fuss, just make it quick.”
“got a little nick on my palm, just need it wrapped up or whatever.”
“got a scratch here. honestly nothing, but i guess you should take a look.”
you always had something smart to say, today you went with, “oh, look at that,” 
after his second visit, your tone began to shift from actual concern to a mix of amusement and feigned concern. “you’ve got a little scrape. better let me take care of that.”
he’d huff, pretending like it wasn’t a big deal. “just get it over with.”
during his second, third, and fourth visits, you tended to his injury with a regular old first aid kit. you explained that it was better to let such a minor cut heal on its own, emphasizing how small the injury was—something that only seemed to irritate bakugou. you wanted to ensure that his body didn’t become dependent on a quirk for healing, even for minor wounds.
bakugou didn’t argue or ask for any extra attention. he was determined to stay above such petty requests. however, he found that he didn’t mind the touch of your hands, which were gentle and precise. each time your fingers brushed against his skin, he felt a small, unwelcome jolt of warmth, though he never let it show.
but today was different.
today felt like the first day all over again. 
he hoped you couldn’t see or feel the heat radiating from him as you leaned in and teased, “so, bakugou, are you here for the healing, or do you just enjoy my company?” you raised an eyebrow playfully. “because these tiny bruises hardly seem worth the trip.”
you gave him a quick peck on the cheek, and he instantly felt the soothing effects of your quirk.
“told you, it’s about staying in top shape. can’t have anything slowing me down, not even a damn scratch,” he snapped, his voice tinged with a forced irritation. “gotta be at my best if i’m gonna be number one.”
as you leaned back, your gaze lingered on him with an unreadable expression. the soft, ambient light of the infirmary cast a gentle glow around you, accentuating the warmth of your smile. despite the cool air, he felt an intense heat creep to his neck, betraying his attempt to stay composed. 
bakugou turned his face slightly, trying to ignore the way his heart was pounding. mumbling a quick thanks, he tried to regain his composure, his movements slightly stiff as he prepared to leave. 
he walks out of your office thinking about how he wished he would have let his friends talk about the new nurse at ua.

bakugou nearly missed his visit today. it was the last day of finals, and his friends were eager to celebrate the end of the grueling two weeks of work. they wanted to head to a café around the corner—a favorite spot from their school days. bakugou had initially planned to meet them there, but they insisted on walking together. this was why he now found himself angrily trudging through the school halls, his frown evident as he moved.
when they stepped out of the school, bakugou abruptly stopped in his tracks. he quickly patted himself down, feigning realization that he had forgotten his phone. he put on a show, acting as if he was in a rush to retrieve it.
after a brief and hurried detour, he found his way back to the infirmary, dashing through the corridors with the same urgency as a student late to class. he slowed down every time he passed an open door, then sped up again, repeating this process until he finally arrived back at the infirmary.
his frustration was already high from the charade, but it reached new heights when he saw you and midoriya together, seemingly engrossed in each other. you were sitting close, helping midoriya upload the practical grades onto a computer. the sight of you two so close, with midoriya’s easy smile and your focused attention, only intensified bakugou's irritation.
he slumped onto one of the infirmary beds, his posture stiff and impatient. he crossed his arms over his chest and stared at the ceiling, waiting for you and midoriya to finish what he perceived as an overly affectionate interaction. he tried to ignore the twinge of jealousy that flared up every time he glanced at the two of you, his mood darkening with each passing moment.
“i don’t think i’ve ever seen you visit recovery girl this much back in our school days, kachann,” bakugou quickly turned to his childhood friend, his eyes narrowed and his palms began to warm up. but just before he could bark out a reply, you had cut in, “what?” 
bakugou’s patience snapped as midoriya’s smirk widened. midoriyas voice dropped to a teasing tone. “oh, nothing. just noticing how often you’re in here these days, bakugou. you know, back in the day, you couldn’t stand being patched up, always rushing out before recovery girl could even finish. funny how things change.”
the words hit bakugou like a punch to the gut. he felt his anger flare, his fists clenching at his sides. he shot to his feet, his voice coming out in a low, threatening growl. “scram, nerd. didn’t want old lady lips on me back then, and i sure as hell don’t want you flappin’ yours now.”
midoriya chuckled, raising his hands in mock surrender as he took a step back. he thanked you once more before giving bakugou a teasing smile and walking out of the room, leaving the two of you alone.
bakugou’s irritation simmered as he watched midoriya leave. the heat in his cheeks was a mix of embarrassment and anger. he slumped back onto the infirmary bed, trying to shake off the tension that midoriya’s comments had stirred up inside him.
you turned your full attention to him, a small laugh escaping your lips. “you’re really going to blow a gasket one of these days, bakugou,” you teased, walking over with a calm, collected grace. the way you moved, so assured and at ease, only seemed to fuel his inner turmoil.
“shut up and just get on with it,” he grumbled, but it was clear there was no bite to his words. he was trying to mask the red creeping up his neck. he was determined not to let you see how much midoriya’s comments had affected him.
and its like the universe was against him because you couldn’t resist one last tease before getting down to business. “you’ve really gotta tell me, are you here for the treatment, or is it my company you’re after?” the playful glint in your eye made his facade crumble a little bit.
“just do your damn job,” he muttered, though he couldn’t entirely hide the faintest hint of a smile that tugged at the corner of his mouth as he sat back down. your teasing, while annoying, had a way of making him feel strangely at ease.
he decided the universe was on his side again when you leaned in, pressing a light kiss to the small bruise on his shoulder. bakugou watched you intently, his irritation slowly melting away under the soothing warmth of your quirk. despite his gruff exterior, he always found that during these moments with you, whether you used your quirk or not, the constant pressure he carried with him all day would finally start to ease up.
as you gently pulled back, your eyes locked with his. today was the last day he’d have the chance to drop by like this. over the past two weeks, these visits had become a regular part of his routine. lately, he’d started coming in the mornings and in between his scheduled practicals, under the guise of “checking up on the students he roughed up.”
this would be the final time he could casually walk in and share these small, meaningful moments with you. the thought of missing these interactions left him more unsettled than he wanted to admit. before you could say anything, he stood up abruptly, a mix of emotions flashing across his face. without another word, he turned and made his way to the door, his footsteps heavy with unspoken feelings.
“bakugou,” you called out, making him stop pause. he turned to face you, the hint of curiosity in his eyes.
you offered him a playful smile, trying to lighten the mood. “be careful out there. won’t be around to patch all those little scrapes and bruises.”
he raised an eyebrow, his scowl softening slightly as he took in your words. “so?”
you shrugged, a teasing grin on your lips. “sooo don’t want those little injuries to add up and start slowing you down, especially with your fight for the number one spot and all.”
he huffed, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “no promises,” he muttered, his gaze lingering on you for a moment longer before he turned and walked out of your little office for the last time. 
the door clicked shut behind him, and as he moved down the hallways, now deserted with all the students gone, he realized that the mess of emotions inside him wasn’t from any damn quirk. on top of that, he couldn’t shake the relentless feeling that he’d regret leaving you behind without finally tell you how he really felt, even if it still confused the hell out of him.

he was right.
bakugou walked out of his agency with his usual scowl, but his mind was elsewhere. instead of focusing on his next mission, he replayed every interaction between the two of you—how you treated the students and tended to his cuts and bruises. he thought about your caring nature, your teasing attitude, and how your presence seemed to calm him despite his usual irritation. admitting that he missed you or cared more than he let on was still out of the question; he wasn’t ready for that. which is why he found himself in a state of despair.
but it wouldn’t hurt to see you again, he reasoned. after all, he had a sizable cut on his hand from a fierce battle earlier that day—a paper cut from adding more paper to the printer. he blasted his way back to ua high school, his heart pounding for some odd reason.
he rushed up the front steps, frustration barely contained as he shook the door handles, convinced they were just stiff from the cold. as he stepped back, preparing to blast the doors open, he noticed a small sign that read, "winter break has begun—ua is closed." his face fell, disappointment clear in his features.
he completely forgot.
with a muttered string of curses, he turned around, heading back to his agency, his mood darkened by a sense of missed opportunity and lingering irritation.
that same night he nearly looked you up on social media, but decided he was above that–although he had no problems getting purposely ‘injured’ just to see you again. he decided that he needed to talk to you in person. he was not gonna message you on social media like some extra. 
though it was painful to admit, bakugou decided midoriya was his best bet for advice, you two were colleagues after all. the two had gone through a rough patch during middle school and their first year of high school, but they’d grown closer after the war. their relationship was like that of brothers, marked by teasing and occasional verbal jabs. and just as midoriya had influenced bakugou, bakugou had also rubbed off on midoriya.
“holy shit, just admit it! admit you like her,” midoriya whisper-yelled, his voice trembling with exasperation as he buried his head in his hands. he’d spent the past hour trying to break through bakugou’s walls, desperately attempting to get his childhood best friend to confess his obvious feelings for you.
“i don’t know what the hell you’re talking about,” bakugou replied with a dismissive shrug, his eyes narrowing slightly as he leaned back in his chair. he crossed his arms over his chest, feigning indifference, but his heart was racing so fast it felt like it might burst out of his chest. the muscles in his jaw tensed as he tried to maintain his composure, but even he could feel the cracks forming in his facade.
midoriya looked up, frustration evident in his furrowed brow. “you’ve got to be kidding me, katsuki. you dragged me out here to talk about her. it’s written all over your damn face.”
bakugou’s eyes flickered with irritation as he let out a low growl, his voice rising slightly in response to midoriya’s persistence. “seriously, what’s your deal with this lovey-dovey crap?” he snapped, leaning forward so forcefully that the chair creaked under the pressure.
“i came here to hang out, not to spill my guts about feelings, and the only thing written on my face is— ”he paused for dramatic effect, pointing to his left cheek,“—number,” he pointed to his right cheek, as if marking the spot. “—one!” his voice rose in defiant emphasis, though the strained expression on his face revealed just how much he was trying to keep his composure.
midoriya’s gaze sharpened, a mix of irritation and amusement dancing in his eyes. but before he could respond, bakugou cut him off sharply.
“i also didn’t drag you anywhere!” bakugou snapped, his voice cracking slightly as he fought to keep his emotions in check. “you came here on your own.”
“so—” midoriya began, but bakugou was already back on the defensive.
“but if you’re so damn desperate to talk about her, then go ahead. i won’t stop you” bakugou interrupted, his voice laced with challenge as he glared at midoriya.
midoriya couldn’t help but let out a small laugh, shaking his head in disbelief. “you’re impossible, you know that? you’re just making it more obvious that you care.”
bakugou’s expression suddenly shifted. He stared at his friend, frustration and resignation mixing in his eyes, his shoulders slumping slightly as if he’d finally decided to let his guard down. “damn it, fine,” he muttered, the words coming out in a mix of defeat and reluctant honesty. “i thought it was just her quirk at first—you know how it works, right? you had that old lady’s lips on you all the time. figured i was just feeling awkward from the situation.”
midoriya’s eyes widened in surprise. “wait, her quirk—”
“hold on, i’m not done,” bakugou snapped, cutting him off abruptly. “after that, she started taking care of me without using her quirk. like, really looking out for me, making sure i was okay. that’s when i figured out it wasn’t just her damn power messing with my head. it’s her. it’s the way she talks, the way she looks at me, the way she gives a damn about people. the more we talked over the past two weeks, the more i realized…i actually give a shit.”
midoriya’s mouth opened, but he was interrupted by both of their phones buzzing with an urgent alert. they both glanced at their screens, and midoriya’s expression shifted to one of concern.
“shit,” bakugou muttered, grabbing his jacket. “they need all pros in the area.”
midoriya nodded, his face set in determination. “we’ve gotta go. now.”
“yeah,” bakugou agreed, already heading for the door. “we’ll talk later.”
they both slammed some cash down onto the table before rushing out of the café, the urgency of the situation taking over. bakugou's thoughts about you and the emotional revelations would have to wait; their immediate priority was to respond to the villain attack and protect the city.

bakugou limped through the bustling emergency room, his face twisted in pain and frustration. he tried to ignore the nagging sense of vulnerability that came with his injuries. that stupid villain had managed to pull a fast one on him, landing a nasty hit before bakugou practically blew him to bits.
midoriya, being his usual self, had quickly suggested that the best treatment for bakugou’s injuries was at the very hospital where you volunteered, an effort to have you guys see each other again. normally, bakugou would have avoided causing a scene in a hospital, preferring to get patched up at his agency instead. however, midoriya’s persistence and his offer to handle all the paperwork made it difficult for bakugou to refuse.
he sighed as he let kaminari, sero, and kirishima come along with him, clearly annoyed but determined not to let midoriya’s plan fall through. as he trudged along.
the chaotic hustle and bustle of the emergency room was in full swing, a symphony of beeping monitors, hurried footsteps, and urgent conversations. nurses and doctors moved briskly, attending to patients with practiced efficiency. bakugou’s irritation only grew as he was directed to sit and wait for some doctor anderson. 
“i’ll wait,” bakugou growled, clenching his jaw. “i want the best of the best. that means ms. y/l/n.”
the medical staff exchanged uncertain glances, trying to balance their duties with the stubborn hero’s demands. “she’s just a volunteer here, and she already has quite the list,” one of the doctors said, attempting to reason with him. “we really need to—”
bakugou’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “you questioning me?!” he snarled, his voice thundering through the corridor, shaking the air with its intensity. the staff, taken aback by his explosive temper, quickly scrambled to comply, knowing better than to argue with him. 
with a flurry of activity, they stabilized bakugou’s injuries as best as they could under the circumstances. the urgency in their movements betrayed their anxiety over his demands, but they managed to prepare him for your arrival.

you moved quickly through the halls of the hospital, your heart racing as you had just received word that pro hero dynamite had just been admitted, and had demanded you to be the one to help him. you had a aching feeling that it wasn't for another scape. you spotted a group of familiar faces clustered together just outside bakugou's room. kirishima, kaminari, and sero were chatting animatedly, their conversation punctuated by bursts of laughter and occasional glances toward the door which gave you a small sense of relief.
“seriously, this is just karma,” kaminari said with a thoughtful frown, peering up at the ceiling as if searching for divine answers. “he was coming to recovery girl for every little scrape, it was so obvious he was trying to get an excuse to see her.”
“yeah,” sero chimed in with a smirk, “ bet you he was milking those tiny injuries just to get a little attention from her.”
kirishima laughed, shaking his head with a rueful grin. “he probably thought if he kept getting those little nicks and bruises, he’d get a chance to talk to her more. pretty clever, but also so very unmanly.”
their laughter and commentary were a strange mix of sympathy and light-hearted teasing. you found yourself frozen in place, hiding just out of sight as you overheard their conversation. the realization hit you hard—bakugou’s frequent visits and seemingly pointless injuries had been his way of getting close to you.
swallowing hard, you took a deep breath before making your way toward bakugou's room. you quickly greeted the pro heroes offering polite nods before pushing through the door. your hands began to sweat, nerves getting the better of you as you creaked the door open.
inside, you let out a sigh of relief mixed with concern. his condition wasn't as dire as you’d feared, but it wasn’t exactly good either. instead of the usual tiny cuts and small bruises you were accustomed to, bakugou had a deep, painful-looking gash on his side. it looked serious, though you could tell he was trying to downplay it.
he turned his head slowly toward you, his eyes barely open but trying to focus. his usual fiery glare was subdued, replaced by an almost vulnerable expression. “hello, dynamite,” you greeted him gently, a playful hint in your voice despite the situation. “thought i told you to be careful.”
bakugou's lips twitched into a weak, smile. “told me not to get any small ones, think i listened pretty well,” he joked, though his voice was strained.
you gave him a small smile, but it quickly faded as you noticed his vitals starting to waver on the monitor beside him. the steady beep of the heart rate was becoming irregular, and your concern spiked.
without hesitation, you activated your quirk, letting your hand hover over the deep cut on his side. the air seemed to crackle with energy as you focused intently, channeling your power to heal the wound. bakugou watched you with growing shock, his eyes widening as the extent of your quirk became apparent.
as you worked, you kept your focus on the healing process, determined to stabilize him. his expression of surprise and awe. despite the situation, you felt a pang of satisfaction seeing the wound slowly mend under your touch.
the room was filled with the quiet hum of medical equipment and the occasional murmurs from the pro heroes outside. you could feel the weight of the room’s concern, but you pushed through, driven by the need to get bakugou patched up.
finally, after a few tense moments, the monitor’s beeping steadied and bakugou’s breathing became more even. you pulled your hand away, your energy slightly drained but relieved that the worst was over for now.
bakugou’s gaze softened as he looked at you, and despite the pain, there was something almost tender in his eyes. “thanks,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
you offered him an awkward smile. “just doing my job.”
the two of you sat in an awkward silence, his gaze fixed on the wall in front of him while you stared at the sheets. you got up, slowly preparing to say goodbye.
“so... your quirk isn’t like recovery girl’s, huh?” bakugou blinked slowly at you, his tone a mix of curiosity and irritation.
you nodded, your expression growing more serious. “yeah, it’s not.”
bakugou’s expression hardened, his voice sharp. “why the hell didn’t you tell me?”
“didn’t think i’d have to see you again,” you admitted, frustration creeping into your voice. “and you’re not exactly the saint you pretend to be, either,” you added, your face flushing as you turned towards the window.
bakugou’s eyes widened in surprise, his face turning slightly pink. “what the hell are you talking about?”
“you kept coming to me with those tiny scratches. you never really needed my help; you just wanted an excuse to see me.”
“are you out of your damn mind?!” bakugou roared, his face flushing deeper with anger. “i was using my resources to stay in top shape, alright? nothing more, nothing less!”
“top shape—who the hell talks like that?!” now you were a dark shade of crimson, your face blazing as the argument escalated. “bakugou, just admit it already!”
“there’s nothing to admit! how about you admit you were just waiting for an excuse to kiss me, you perv?!” bakugou’s voice rose, his face now a deeper red, frustration clear in his eyes.
“what?! don’t try to twist this around on me, you little shit! you’re the one who kept stopping by for the most ridiculous reasons—half the time, i didn’t even see anything wrong!” you shot back, your anger matching his.
“and yet you still acted like you wanted to kiss me, you damn freak!” bakugou’s face was now a deep shade of red, his embarrassment and anger mixing in equal measure.
“what?! i’m not a freak! you’re the freak! you just barged into my office and pointed at your cheek. who assumes something like that? if anything, you’re the perv for thinking healers just go around kissing people!” you exclaimed, your frustration peaking.
“that shitty little short circuit said you were the new recovery girl??” bakugou snapped, his patience wearing thin.
“i am? doesn’t mean i have the same quirk,” you retorted, crossing your arms defiantly.
“well, you should’ve just said that’s not how your quirk works from the start!” bakugou growled, his tone defensive, his face still flushed.
“and you wouldn’t have blown me to bits. you were so damn confident when you just pointed at that tiny little scratch! i was just trying to protect myself!” you said, your voice rising in frustration as you turned away from him.
“oh, you’re really pushing it—” bakugou began, his anger barely contained, but he was cut off by kirishima barging into the room.
“sorry, but you’re both being unmanly right now.”
“stay out of this!” you both yelled, turning to the pro. he simply sighed and walked out, shaking his head and muttering about how things were just getting more unmanly by the minute.
there was a long pause as both of you sat in the silence, the weight of the room’s emotions settling around you. the air felt thick, charged with the intensity of the argument and the vulnerability that had emerged. bakugou’s gaze softened as he looked at you, the anger in his eyes giving way to something more introspective. his shoulders relaxed, and his voice took on a quieter, more tentative tone. “didn’t really need your help then,” he said, the words laced with an awkward honesty that caught you off guard.
“i know,” you replied taking a seat at the edge of his bed, your own embarrassment matching his. you took a deep breath, feeling the fight drain from you as the truth settled between you. the tension in the room shifted, morphing from anger to something more fragile and uncertain.
another moment of silence stretched between you, the unspoken words hanging heavy in the air. 
“bakugou,” you started softly, searching for the right words. your breath caught in your throat as you looked at him. “i like you,” you confessed, the words slipping out with a mix of shyness and sincerity.
bakugou’s eyes widened slightly, a flicker of surprise crossing his features before he quickly masked it with his trademark scowl. “had a feeling,” he grumbled, his tone a blend of annoyance and something softer beneath. “took you long enough to admit it.”
before he could react further, you reached out and gave him a playful yet firm slap on the arm. your face flushed with embarrassment and frustration. “what was that for?” bakugou exclaimed, rubbing the spot where you’d hit him, his expression a mix of genuine confusion and mild irritation.
“don’t act all smug,” you shot back, your voice laced with indignation. you’d just confessed your feelings, and instead of offering a heartfelt response, the idiot in front of you had simply said he knew. it was like he didn’t even grasp the weight of what you’d said.
bakugou’s scowl faltered as he looked at you with an unusual hint of vulnerability. his gaze dropped to the floor, and a flicker of uncertainty crossed his features. it was clear he was struggling; he wasn’t used to expressing his feelings or dealing with someone else’s, and it showed.
when he finally looked back up, his expression was serious, but you noticed a rare softness in his eyes. “alright,” he said, his voice low and gruff but edged with an awkward sincerity that seemed out of character for him. “i like you too. a lot. more than i probably should.”
as you both sat there, basking in the newfound honesty between you, the tension began to melt away. bakugou let out a deep breath, and you could see the muscles in his shoulders relax. a comfortable silence settled in, and the world outside seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you enjoying each other’s company. for now, there was no need to rush or worry about what came next. you simply savored the moment, feeling a deep sense of connection and contentment.
after a few moments, bakugou shifted slightly, a small, thoughtful look crossing his face. he wasn’t sure if it was the pain meds or the weight of your confession, but he was starting to feel a bit bolder than he had been. breaking the comfortable silence, he turned to you with a raised eyebrow. “ya know,” he said, his tone carrying a hint of his usual gruffness, “i’m still in a lot of pain.” he paused, watching you, as if he was testing the waters for your reaction.
you looked at him, puzzled. “what are you getting at?”
“well, we don’t know for sure if your quirk isn’t like recovery girl’s,” he said, leaning in slightly. “ worked pretty well last time.”
you tilted your head, catching on to his subtle hint. “oh, so you’re suggesting that my quirk might work better if i used it the way recovery girl does? you know, with a bit more—” you paused for dramatic effect, “—personal touch?”
a soft smile spread across his face, his gaze locking onto yours. “something like that.”
you laughed softly, shaking your head. “well, if that’s the case, i’d better go check on your friends then. they might need some help too, after all.”
before you could move, bakugou’s hand shot out, grabbing your wrist with a firm yet gentle grip. his eyes softened slightly, a mix of playfulness and sincerity in his gaze. “hey, don’t be a smartass,” he said, pulling you closer. “just... stay here for a minute.”
your heart skipped a beat as you were drawn into his personal space. you looked up at him, your breath catching in your throat. his expression was earnest now, the playful facade giving way to something more genuine.
“bakugou?” you murmured, your voice barely above a whisper.
“yeah?” he replied, his tone softening as he leaned in slightly.
you could feel the tension between you, a mix of anticipation and uncertainty. his gaze was fixed on your lips, his intention clear even if unspoken. the moment hung in the air, charged with the possibility of a kiss.
finally, with a playful smirk, you tilted your head and teased, “i suppose if you’re still in pain, i should take care of that.”
before you could react, bakugou closed the distance between you. his lips brushed against yours in a warm, gentle kiss. it was soft and sweet, carrying a surprising tenderness that left both of you breathless. the kiss was fleeting but filled with a depth of emotion that spoke volumes. as he pulled away, his smirk was replaced by a genuine, tender look. his eyes searched yours, revealing a vulnerability that contrasted with his usual fiery demeanor.
you blinked, still processing the kiss. with a shy smile, you asked, “feel better?”
he quickly buried his face in the side of your neck, causing you to giggle. "yeah," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. you could feel him slowly start to smile against your skin, "better."

It's been 4 months since your break up with Izuku, and you wish you could get over him. Lucky, you realised, if you could just erase everything from your head.
One word: Lucky.
Pretty pink ribbons and a flash of green. Rosy cheeks and laughter so sweet it chokes you.
Oh.
Your eyes lift to see Uravity greeting Deku with a smile that is brimming with such love that it makes you want to throw up. They're at it again.
The gifts and the bentos are bad enough, but the phone calls, the text messages, the team-ups.
It's everywhere like a plague with medicine; a virus with no vaccine-it's suffocating.
"Oh, Izuku," Uravity's soft voice breaks in, so innocent and perfectly surprised when Izuku brings out a bouquet of roses.
Third time this week but, hey, who's counting?
"These are lovely," She giggles, taking them and inhaling deeply. I'm not going to have enough vases for all the ones you're giving me."
"Then we should hit that florist Friday morning to get some more," Izuku replies easily, green eyes lighting up. "Your morning is free, right?"
"Sometimes I think you know my schedule better than me." Uravity teases. And oh, how vanilla it is to see the Number One flustered by his picture-perfect girlfriend.
You distinctly remember taking interview lessons when in U.A to evade paparazzi advances, but there's no training that can save Deku from being at the mercy of Uravity's words.
He bends his back over for everything with a pulse, but he bends furthest back for his girlfriend because that's who Deku is.
Lucky.
"Shortie?"
Vermillion red meets your blank stare, so you stare back. "Bakugou."
His searching eyes trace your gaze, and he pieces things together like it's elementary.
"It's been 4 months."
Since the breakup.
"You're still not over him-"
"I am."
Bakugou lets out a snort. "Yeah, real over him."
And in a flash, your fingers are grasping his collar and you're dragging his face closer to yours.
"I'm. Over. Him." You hiss.
You give him your most vacant stare, your steeliest tone. "I don't love him. I hate his face, his eyes, and his shitty, sunshine personality. His smile is the most hideous thing that I wish I could scrub from my memory and I hope I can blast my eardrums before I can hear his laughter for the nth time this week. Now for God's sake Katsuki Bakugou. Fuck off."
You hope that as you convince him, you'd gaslight yourself.
Bakugou's gaze is unwavering. No softening, no sympathy because hello, this is Katsuki Bakugou. Instead, he stares back unwaveringly, not backing down from your gaze. "Izuku misses you. He wants you back, as a friend."
Your grasp loosens on Bakugou's hero costume, and he adjusts it as he stands back at full height. "Get-together with Class A at the usual bar. Denki shot you a text, said you never replied."
You flop down on the seat of your tiny office, stationed right opposite Deku's.
You were one of the best heroes in the agency, and Deku recognised it. Fuck him, honestly.
"I'm not going." You reply.
"I'm going."
"I don't care."
"I'm knocking some fuckin' sense into you, alright, so dial back the sass." Bakugou growls. "My idiot friends care about you, so suck it up and let them care about you. It's been 4 damn months, so get a grip and move on. Stop trying to cut everything out of your life just because the nerd is there."
A twig snaps. A volcano erupts. Something happens, because your hands are numb and your laugh is bitter.
"They're your friends, Bakugou. I was just the plus-one, the lucky girlfriend, second to Deku. I'm not part of your little clique. I'm not part of your class. I was never meant to be there."
Your eyes cut through his gaze like knives, and if Katsuki looks hard enough, maybe he can see the harsh words are just a mask for your sorrow. A facade to block out the hurt and the isolation for not being the right person.
For being just another lesson, an ex, an outsider to their story.
Maybe, if he looks hard enough, he could see the pain building behind your eyes. "I'm not playing second fiddle to a guy who told me I wasn't enough. He wants to be friends? For such a thoughtful guy, he sure is dense."
Poisoned water in a desert, a peace offering of a patronising smile and victories shoved in front of your face. Haven't you suffered enough?
"Goodbye, Bakugou." You grit out, eyes ablaze. "And don't ever tell me how to run my life again."
The door slams shut, and Bakugou runs a hand through his hair. That breakup really did change you.
Because a little under 5 months ago, he still remembers the way your eyes lit up at Deku's name. The way your eyes would sparkle when you were asked about him, and you would say, honey-sweet.
"I love him. I love his face, his eyes, and his wonderful sunshine personality. His smile is the most beautiful thing in the world that I wish I could tattoo it in my memory and I hope I can keep making him happy so I can hear his laughter for the nth time this week. He's great, seriously. I'm the luckiest person in the world."

mha characters that are aro for CANON reasons (read: in which I reach increasingly further for canon evidence):
(Disclaimer: some of these can be evidence of characters being something else than aro (or ace) but this is my post and I can do whatever I want + /hj to /j to everything on there, when I say I start reaching I start REACHING. These are headcanons!)
Aizawa Shouta doesn't ever show romantic (or sexual) interest in anyone and is actively put off by Ms Joke hitting on him and the idea of getting married to her
All Might has NO experience with women according to Horikoshi (could also mean he has experience with men but y'know)
Ashido Mina really wants to be in a relationship but never fell in love (cupioromantic moment)
Both Bakugou Katsuki and Todoroki Shouto hide from girls crushing on them near the end, don't ever show romantic interest in anyone or get anxious or flustered near girls, Katsuki especially apparently never cared about girls (and vice versa) before and and Shouto specifically doesn't notice when he's hit on.
Iida Tenya is never interested in girls or men and is significantly more focused on both his studies and his friendships
My favorite headcanon: Uraraka Ochako's love for Izuku seems founded more on her admiration and people telling her she must like him (because boy and girl etc) than in actual romantic love, and she connects a lot with Toga (who also loves people in a non-conventional way)
Midnight doesn't have a romantic partner or anyone she regularly flirts with despite being a very beautiful and desired woman, and doesn't seem to have had any kind of romantic relationship with the three boys more or less her age she hung out with a lot (the rooftop trio) (she can also be seen as a cliché of aroallo person who only cares about sex so I'm claiming her).
Pixie Bob's obsession with finding a partner is giving "I've been told all my life that I HAVE to get married and I don't want to so I keep looking for the perfect match and not finding it because the man I'm looking for doesn't exist because I won't ever fall in love". Because by god you can't tell me the cute blonde catgirl isn't finding a boyfriend.
All For One only cares about his brother, I'd even argue he's aromantic asexual aplatonic etc. a-everything except familial and idk. quirkic. attracted to quirks.
Mount Lady is aro for the same reason as Midnight but because I think it's implied or canon that she's dating Kamui Woods, she's lower.
Midoriya Izuku is green so he's obviously aromantic and most of his flustered reactions to girls seem based more on shyness (and an obvious reaction to getting boobs shoved in his face) and sexual or aesthetic attraction than romantic attraction (he also has a very romcom view of what being boyfriend girlfriend is, ie. his reaction to Toga's confession)
Aoyama Yuuga's definition of love (according to his comment on Ochako being in love with Izuku because she was thinking "what would Deku-kun do?") is very weird and seems based more in things he was told or saw in fiction than feelings he would have felt himself.
Yoarashi Inasa is just so fucking weird with friendships and social cues he looks like he's trying to navigate the world while making absolutely sure NO ONE misinterprets him, which makes him both very aro and very autistic in my book
Kurogiri is literally a bunch of mist with little free will whose purpose in life is protecting this one boy, he's all the As.
Endeavor married for insane reasons and never even cheated on Rei after he sent her to the hospital (which a lot of men his caliber would do)
Ms Joke makes the idea of dating Shouta a joke and I think that's great. She's also green.
Miruko's chill and doesn't give a fuck, she's a fighting person, very Katsuki-coded in that regard I fear. She also works alone without an agency, which is giving aromantic for no reason other than I Said So.
Toga Himiko is a queer allegory that is generally interpreted as bisexual and biromantic but I think she can be interpreted as aroallo as well (way to love that’s seen as impure and unholy etc etc, notions of consent – taking people’s blood and hurting them without their consent which is for her a way to show her love, most of her attraction seeming physical or aesthetic rather than romantic, her parents telling her to repress repress repress instead of satisfying her desires in a safe way, the scene where she’s biting her wrist in her sleep???? etc etc) 
Twice never had a lot of friends and never had a lot of female friends and when he feels gratefulness and care for Toga it outwardly seems romantic because he doesn’t know what’s romantic and what’s not and hasn’t had a lot of female friends 
Dabi is giving aromantic aplatonic who only really loves his family but due to circumstances can’t love them healthily and ends up just hating them (the most intense feelings of love he shows are always towards Enji or Natsuo, and his apology to Shouto makes me think Shouto is also included in this – no evidence for Fuyumi and Rei but I can do what I want. He clearly cares for Twice and Toga too but it presents very differently, even after he’s revealed himself and doesn’t need to be as secretive). 
Shigaraki Tomura probably just doesn’t give a shit I’d say. He’s pretty apathetic when he isn’t fighting or angry or like doing his hatred thing, but he clearly cares about his teammates. 
Fatgum is foodpilled and studentpilled. He really loves food and he really loves his students he doesn't need no romantic relationship.
Jirou Kyoka takes a bit to warm up to Denki so I think she's demiromantic actually
Bruce (the third user of One For All). He just has such third wheel vibes.
Intelli Saiko because why would she bother with romance, it's so unpractical and illogical
Despite asking for boys' numbers all the time and being very aware of romance, Utsushimi Camie looks like she could NOT CARE LESS. aro
The fact that Hawks plays up the flirting with his fans is giving aromantic to me – obviously heartbreaker aroallo stereotype but I think he could also be ace, the aroallo part isn’t that important, it’s just that he’s always pretending. It’s giving still in the closet. Also I know he’s young and busy and Horikoshi doesn’t really put that much casual romance in MHA but it’s so funny that there isn’t even a sliver of a girlfriend implied in his timeskip. Hawks is Married To His Job. 
Star and Stripe is also absolutely married to her job. Also, lots of guys around her, lots of important and admired male figures in her life, and yet not a single crush from her. Points. Aromantic lesbian 
Nezu is a fuckass mouse I highly doubt he's attracted to humans in any way
Gran Torino is a single old man which is enough for me (though because I hate that fucker I think it'd be funny if women just hated him)
Where Is Shimura Nana’s Husband. 
Muscular only likes to kill, he doesn’t need romance nor sex, his only desire is Killing People and fighting. Same thing for Moonfish, he only wants to eat people (mood my guy) 
Geten is very hyper focused on making his quirk stronger, he doesn’t seem to really have any relationships.
Overhaul just fucking hates people
Again, Kendo Rappa only cares about fighting.

Todo fam headcanons
Enji isn’t a dick addition
He didn’t intentionally train any of his to be heroes, he just accepted them as they were
Touya really wanted to be a hero, but when they figured out his quirk didn’t work with his body they had to have a lot of long hard talks, they tried to find a lot of support gear but nothing could completely keep him from burning himself and they didn’t want him to risk his life
He came around to the idea eventually and ended up going to school to become a paramedic
Fuyumi didn’t get parentified and was allowed to explore what she wanted, she ended up loving art and went to an art school before apprenticing under a sculptor and then a tattoo artist, she eventually went back to sculpting and runs her own studio now
Natsuo followed in his big brothers footsteps and went to med school, he’s an er doctor
Shoto loved the skating trips his mom took him on and became a professional/Olympic figure skater and coach
Also, Rei was a snowboarder in this universe because I said so
It should be mentioned, Touya took up rock climbing as a hobby and got really into it
Fuyumi started doing mma as a stress release, she tried to get her siblings into it but it reminded Touya too much of training and the other two never enjoyed fighting
Natsuo feels like he gets plenty of physical activity between the er and his twice weekly workouts, so his hobby is playing video games,
Enji picked up crocheting after rei told him he needed a non stressful hobby to help him relax
Rei I turn felt she also needed a nonstressful hobby, and promptly chose rebuilding old cars because they have more money than god and can certainly afford it
Shoto never really made time for hobbies until fuyumi taught him how to sculpt, now he enjoys making weird little trinkets to give friends and family, and occasionally his competitors
I like to think the show still progresses normally, just with shinsou in 1A instead of shoto
The the reason we find out about the todoroki family is cause bakugou and midoriya both do their internship with Endeavor sanders he gushed about his wife and kids every chance he got
Midoriya thought shoto was the best thing ever and rei tried to set them up
She succeeded and got an adorable little son in law
Fuyumi showed up during bakugous internship with miruko to drop off some food for her wife and he freaked out cause he thinks miruko is so cool and turns out she has a badass wife too, best day ever
Touya meets both of them when he shows up at hawks agency to pick him up for their dinner date, they both lose their shit cause why are so many of them dating heroes
They meet natsuo during his internship/study program with recovery girl
Then they see rei on tv as a pro snowboarder
Now they’re wondering how many todorokis there are cause they just keep showing up everywhere
Then they find out that Touya and fuyumi are both in a heavy metal band, which segways into them finding out all of the todoroki play various instruments, and sports
When they ask how the hell they all know so much and have so many hobbies they just respond that they were homeschooled and rich, this left a lot of time and money to invest in random interests, so they all developed a ton of skills for absolutely no other reason than they got bored
Now Endeavor is number one after allmight retired, and they were competing for that spot beforehand but it was more of a friendly rivalry to encourage them to get better (maybe it started out legit but they both chilled quite a bit as they got older and eventually became friendly, though they kept up the image for the public and because it made them better heroes), but after all might was forced to retire endeavor publicly stated that this wasn’t the way he wanted their rivalry to end, but he would do his best to honour all might memory and carry on his legacy
He also encourages the new number two, his son in law hawks and every other hero to challenge him and make him keep working for his position
Now, this was cleared with hawks beforehand kind of as an announcement of his engagement to Touya, sadly the public misinterpreted that and thought that he was dating his daughter fuyumi, miruko shot that down quick and informed everyone that fuyumi was hers and hawks could fight her for it, all in good fun, and hawks clarified that he appreciates the offer cause fuyumi is great, but he’s very gay and quite in love with her brother
This was great, it was the closest to celebrity drama they’ve ever gotten from the todoroki family and it’s still super wholesome

Midoriya sneezed as he walked alongside Kirishima, the rain pouring down upon them. They still had on their hero uniforms as they walked back home. “It’s a good thing we didn’t shower before we left the agency…boy would that have been a mistake..” Kirishima commented.
“You’re right…but I don’t think it would have made a different for me. I think I’m getting cold,” Midoriya said before sneezing again.
Kirishima noticed the redness of Midoriya’s nose and how he was rubbing his eye. He didn’t hesitate as he wrapped an arm around Midoriya’s shoulder. The sudden closeness left Midoriya confused before he realized what Kirishima was doing.
“I appreciate it Eijirou but I’ll be fine,” he trailed off melting against the warmth Kirishima provided.
Letting out a laugh Kirishima continued to walk until they made it home.
Once inside of their house the two went ahead to remove most of their hero gear at the door. Midoriya’s movements were sluggish as he allowed Kirishima to help him.
When the two were finished they walked into the living room noticing Bakugou and Y/N. Kirishima was about to greet them until Bakugou spoke.
“Such a pretty baby, look at you..cutest little face around,” his voice was babyish as he peppered her face in kisses. The giggles that left her lips were paired with his coos.
“Could just eat you up, muffin.” The baby voice he was using was paired with laughter as he pretended to nibble at her cheeks.
Unable to stop himself Midoriya snorted at the scene which caused Bakugou to perk up. Turning around his eyes narrowed as he noticed his boyfriends, “hell are you laughing at, Deku?”
“Ah! Nothing Katsu,” he said trying to deny his actions.
“Who knew you could be so cute Katsuki,” Kirishima cooed as he walked over to them. He pinched Bakugou’s cheek just for Bakugou to slap his hand away.
“I’m not cute and you didn’t hear shi-stuff..” he said reminding himself that she was still in her headspace.
“Yeah, we didn’t hear shi-stuff.”
“I’m not above hurting you, Deku!”

Ready or Not
Summary: Bakugou Katsuki is ready to settle down. He's tracked down Deku, ready to take the Quirkless man as his boyfriend. Never mind they haven't spoken in a decade, Katsuki knows how this ends. Deku with his shitty analysis will be thrilled to be with him.

 Bakugou Katsuki, at age 25, was finally ready to settle down. He wasn't as high as he had hoped in the rankings; he only ranked the number 150 hero, to his displeasure, but he made good money. He was handsome and smart. It was time to settle down.
 And if part of the reason for him wishing to settle down was how fucking Shitty Hair and Racoon Eyes jumped a few ranks after they got married, that was Katsuki’s business.
 “Man, you've talked about him before,” Shitty Hair laughed as he followed Katsuki to where Deku worked, “so excited to meet him!”
 “Why haven't we?” Racoon Eyes asked, looking suspicious. Katsuki rolled his eyes to himself. She’d been acting like that since they graduated. Second guessing him and giving him funny looks. Ever since Dunce Face and Elbows declared they refused to work with Katsuki for bullshit reasons.
 Katsuki was not an ‘abusive dick’ and he didn't have anger issues! They were just weaklings who wouldn't make it far in heroics. They were jealous.
 (He ignored the fact that Kaminari was ranked 20 and Sero ranked 25. It didn't matter.)
 “We’re busy,” Katsuki said bluntly. “Me being a hero and Deku with his analysis. At least being married to me will help him.”
 “Oh, is he struggling?” Shitty Hair looked so sad. Katsuki grunted in response.
 He actually didn't have an answer. He hadn't directly talked to Deku in years. Ever since Deku didn't get into UA, as everyone fucking knew would happen, the nerd hadn't been around. Auntie hadn’t either, which was confusing. The Hag didn't know why either; said something about ‘Inko taking things too seriously’ or some shit.
 Katsuki shook his head. It didn't matter. Deku had been around for Katsuki’s hero story since the beginning—a weakling who looked down on Katsuki but realized the truth. A weak spouse would look good compared to Katsuki and show he could protect people.
 “Ph hey, isn't this where Midoriya works?” Racoon Eyes said as she saw the agency they were headed to. Katsuki paused and turned to her, glaring.
 “How do you-”
 “Oh god, are you still not paying attention to any support engineers or others?” Raccoon Eyes gave him a look he scowled at.
 He did not like the reminder of how he'd been placed on a deny list from most of the support industry because he didn't remember half of their names. They were extras! Worthless losers who couldn't hack it as heroes so they just went into something similar, demanding to be treated with ‘respect’ while sneering heroes needed them. Fuckers.
 “Dude, I thought you'd have heard of Midoriya. He was part of the takedown of All for One!” Shitty Hair said.
 That did not… no…
 “WHAT?!”

 Midoriya Izuku sighed as he pressed the decline button again for Endeavour.
 The man wouldn't take a damn hint. Even after the whole expose on him by Dabi, Shouto, Natsuo, and Fuyumi aired, he refused to see himself as anything but a villain. The video of his fit about not being allowed to be part of the hero rankings after the inquiry into his actions was still viral a decade later.
 “Hey babe,” a familiar voice said, and Izuku looked up with a smile as Rody placed a cup of tea on his desk. The redhead smiled back, lifting his sunglasses to rest on the top of his head before leaning down to kiss his husband. Izuku felt his face flush, Japanese enough to be embarrassed by a public kiss even if it was in his private office.
 “Have fun with Ochako?” Izuku asked.
 “Hell yeah,” Rody said with a laugh. “She’s my fav hero to be a pilot for. I like Tenya, but man… he's so uptight about things.” Rody shook his head. “Ochako likes to joke around; Tenya is pure business on the clock.”
 “He lets loose off it,” Izuku pointed out as he checked that he'd saved his files properly.
 “Still ain't fun to pilot for,” Rody said. “What's the plan for tonight?”
 “Mom wants dinner with us since she's been busy with Dad,” Izuku said. “Dad said he'd like to see us too and promised Papa will be on his best behaviour.”
“Mirai is terrifying, and he still glares at me every time we meet,” Rody shuddered as Pino flew into the office. The Quirk shivered dramatically as she landed on Izuku’s shoulder to nuzzle his cheek. “Oh, here you are now. Done mooching snacks from the secretary huh?” Rody teased the bird.
 “Be nice. This one hasn't hit on me yet,” Izuku said.
 “No shit? Well, it happens, Mr. Big Hero,” Rody laughed. He never took it personally, something Izuku was thankful for.
 Izuku wasn't used to being hit on. Even years after, he'd helped All Might beat All for One. The fame that came from it, being regarded as a hero even if he'd just provided backup and analysis, was still off-putting. The amount of people thinking they could get something from him, that he was the weak link among the group that took down the villain… it made Izuku feel incredibly uncomfortable.
 It caused him to break up with his old boyfriend, Hitoshi when the purple-haired man could not handle it. He never felt Izuku would cheat, but he didn't like watching how others reacted. It was better to break up before the issue just got worse.
 They remained friends, and Hitoshi was dating a fellow hero named Monoma, but the loss of someone he cared for because of stupid fame still stuck with Izuku.
 Izuku sighed, pinching his nose as he tried to forget the thoughts. Pino chirped in a concerned tone.
“Just bad memories,” Izuku said, picking up the tea to sip as Rody nodded.
 “I get it, babe. Also, in addition to your parents wanting us to eat with them, my dad wants to meet up,” Rody said. Izuku nodded, standing up from the desk.
 “How is he doing? I know with the recent reemergence of Humarise, he might be on edge,” Izuku said.
 “He is. Won't talk about it but Lala said he keeps checking their go bags and the security features.” Rody frowned. “Roro isn't talking to me still.”
 “Sorry,” Izuku led his husband out of the office, nodding to his secretary, who waved them off with a smile. “Is it…”
 “How dare you leave us? How dare you stop being our parent? Yeah.” Rody sighed.
 “You do know-”
 “I do,” Rody confirmed, knowing his husband would talk about how Rody raising his siblings had never been his responsibility, nor should he have had to do so. The whole thing was on Humarise.
 It still hurt his little brother was upset Rody decided to live for himself when their dad was freed.
 “Midoriya!” a voice said, startling them both out of their thoughts. A security guard was at the end of the hallway near the stairs. He jogged over to Izuku, who looked at him worried.
 “What's wrong?” Izuku asked.
 “There is a commotion downstairs. That hero? Dynamight? He's here, causing a scene. Red Riot and Alien Queen are attempting to calm him down, and we reached out to Shouto and his team about sending backup,” the guard said.
 Izuku felt cold suddenly. Then, a heat ran through him.
 What the hell?

In her years as a hero, short as they were, Mina had slowly grown to realize that Denki and Hanta were right to leave when they did. She initially had been upset, believing Eijiro when he said Bakugou needed real friends. But… well, when the guy kept going on about how no one understood he was the best, and he threw a fit that someone wasn't willing to forgive him, ignoring their name. They would argue against the insulting nicknames and refuse him service when he tried to make them work with him.
 Worse at times, how Bakugou acted around others he deemed lesser had always put her teeth on edge.
 Mina had come to the realization that Bakugou wasn't actually that great of a guy. She was leery of him and worried for Eijiro, who'd attached himself to Bakugou. She loved her husband, but he had willingly blinded himself. She only stuck around in the hopes of helping him.
 Standing in the office lobby of the best analyst in heroics, Mina wished she’d gotten through to Eijiro earlier.
 “Shut up!” she hissed at Bakugou when he opened his mouth, looking pissed the receptionist wasn't letting him up. “It’s already obvious you were lying this entire time-”
 “Babe-” Eijiro tried, but she cut him off with a raised eyebrow and hand.
 “Eijiro, love, how else do you describe us finding out this Deku Bakugou talked about is Midoriya, who we both know and the fact Bakugou didn't know who he was?” Mina asked.
 There was no answer.
 Because there couldn't be one.
 “I wasn't lying! Fucking Deku doesn't tell me shit-” Bakugou began, stopping when he spotted something. Mine turned to see the green-haired analyst they had just been talking about. Beside him was a redheaded man who had his arms crossed. “Deku.” Bakugou snarled.
 “That’s not my name, Bakugou-san,” Midoriya said formally. Mina sucked in through her teeth. She already knew this wasn't quite right, but hearing that dialect? She knew it even more so. “Are you here to make an appointment for analysis? I have a waiting list of three months, and it is after hours.”
 “What the fuck, Deku? How the fuck did I only find out now about you supposedly being a hero?!” Bakugou snapped. “You're looking down on me!”
 “Bakugou-san, my name was everywhere after I helped All Might, Lemillion, Sir Nighteye and Suneater defeat All for One. I was Nezu’s personal student for your entire school career. It is not my fault you do not look beyond your own comfort zone,” Midoriya said, tone still incredibly polite.
 “That's a lie! Auntie would have said something!” Bakugou snapped, and Mina wanted to yell at him to shut up.
 This was Midoriya! He was probably the most influential analyst in the hero community, and she knew people would be talking about this for months. She'd already been fighting with Eijiro about cutting ties with Bakugou before he dragged them down with him, but she was going to have to actually give him an ultimatum.
 She didn't want to; she didn't want to be that person, but it was coming down to it.
 “My mother discovered the extent of how I'd been treated in middle school when I tried to jump off a roof. She discovered my note and ran to the roof of our apartment building to use her Quirk to drag me back,” Midoriya said and shit.
 Mina should not be there for that conversation.

 Eijiro wasn't stupid. He was stubborn and naive, he knew. He knew for a long time that he'd been wrong, that Bakugou wasn't like he'd thought.
 He just… felt bad for the guy. No one liked him or wanted him around, so Eijiro stuck with him. Maybe by showing him a different option, by being kind to others, Bakugou would change.
 When Bakugou talked about Deku, Eijiro hoped this was proof of the change. Being with a Quirkless person had to be proof there was good, right? Not that being Quirkless was terrible, but like… you couldn't be an asshole and be with them.
 Standing beside Bakugou and coming to the sickening realization that it wasn't like he thought again made Eijiro want to shrink.
 “What?!” Bakugou looked shocked and panicked. His eyes darted around as if trapped.
 Please don't tell him…
 “Yes. I nearly took your advice,” Midoriya said, but Eijiro couldn't hear anything afterward. His heart beat too fast in his chest as he stepped away, Mina following him.
 “No, no, I… you're lying! You always do this, you worthless fucker!” Bakugou was screaming. His eyes looked wild. ”You- you-”
 “There's no reason to lie to you. You're an old bully of mine whom I've only put thought towards during therapy,” Midoriya said. And suddenly, the nagging feeling about some of the comments Bakuhou said about ‘Deku’ were coming up.
 ‘Useless without me’ and ‘freaking deluded about heroics’ came to mind. And okay, so Eijito probably needed to work on his biases if he hadn't caught that bit as sketchy, but he'd assumed things about Quirkless people. He should have known better.
 “You… you…” Bakugou looked so lost; his anger died when Midoriya said he didn't think about the blonde. It was apparent he didn't know how to handle that. He opened and closed his mouth, shaking it. “Stop lying! You were always obsessed with me, looking down on me-”
 “You're confusing me for yourself. You were the one to target me when I was minding my own business consistently. I only ever stepped in when you bullied others,” Midoriya lifted his chin. “I don’t know why you came here. I have no connections to you, and while I will work with Alien Queen and Red Riot, I won’t work with you.”
 “I came here to freaking get it over with,” Bakugou said, his tone becoming angry. “We’d inevitably end up together anyway-”
 “I'm his husband,” the redhead said next to Midoriya. “So I don’t know what you're thinking, but that's not true.”
 Eijiro bowed his head, grabbing Bakugou’s arm. “Apologies for this. I… operated under false intel when I came here.”
 “Me as well,” Mina said. She bowed to them. “I will put in for a consultation. I have been considering my own agency for some time.”
 “Me as well,” Eijiro added. He felt Bakugou stiffen under his hand. He didn't give the blonde time to say anything; he dragged him out.
 One last favour for a man he'd thought of as a friend.

 It hadn't been easy in Otheon. Even disregarding the whole being forced to raise his siblings while committing crimes, Rody struggled with how people had acted towards him and Pino. Sentient Quirks were rare. They occurred maybe in 1 in 200 people, and most found them unsettling.
 Otheon, being a country run by anti-Quirk supremacists even if they'd hated the organization, meant Rody had it even worse.
 He hadn't experienced the same shit Izuku did: the scorn, the abuse, the torment.
 Rody had heard the story of how Inko found the note. After Izuku had been denied a place in the hero course because of his lack of Quirk despite making the needed points… he hadn’t seen any other option.
 Inko got there in time, and Rody was so damn thankful. Izuku had been taken to so much therapy, and Inko decided to move. At the same time, Nezu reached out, interested in the analysis Izuku had included in his submission.
 Rody wrapped an arm around Izuku’s waist, letting the man lean into him. It wasn’t easy. It couldn't have been. Izuku was still in so much therapy for how he'd been treated as a child. Inko felt like crap for not noticing and was in therapy too.
 Rody kissed Izuku’s cheek, extracting a sigh. “I’m okay.”
 “No you’re not,” Rody said. “You don't talk about it, but I know you have scars because of that asshole. And hearing he thinks you two would date? Ick,” Rody said. Izuku laughed a little, shaking his head.
 “I'm not surprised he didn't know. He's always been one-track-minded. If it doesn't apply or affect him, he doesn't care.” Izuku looked towards the door where the heroes had left. “I am shocked he thought that what, he could waltz into my life and I'd date him? I haven't seen him in years, but he does this. It feels fake. Like some stupid TV show.”
 “I have no clue what could have gone through his mind to think this would work,” Rody said. He shook his head. “Come on, babe. Let's go home.”
 “That sounds perfect,” Izuku smiled at him, and Rody grinned.
 If he could keep putting that smile on Izuku’s face, life would be perfect.

Happy Holidays!! I hope you all enjoyed this! I ran some polls on Tumblr and this is what came of it!
Some random thoughts on this AU that came from my brain:
-Inko is in a poly relationship with Sir Nighteye and All Might.
-Tamaki has OFA, but Mirio turned it down, so Nighteye isn't canon. Also, it helps that he's been going to therapy as an example for his girlfriend’s son at the time.
-Izuku did help take down AFO and gained a lot of fame because everyone insisted on him taking the credit he was due.
-Bakugou ignored everything that he considered important. All for One barely was a blip on his radar, thanks to things so vastly different. All Might wasn't training 1A; he was busy with the third years. The LOV also fell apart when Izuku correctly figured out how to take Shigaraki down, so he got nabbed during the Kamino Arc, which was again different.
-Bakugou is considered ‘Endeavour lite,’ and most dislike him. His ranking is only due to how Eijiro and Mina hung around. He's going to tank as they leave.
-Izuku still made friends with a chunk of 1A
-Bakugou only considered Izuku an ‘option’ because he is still in the mindset of The perfect hero origin and childhood friends to lovers. He isn’t actually interested.
-Someone on Tumblr mentioned that they felt the nicknames were a lot from Bakugou and I don’t disagree so here it really affects his professional relationships. Badly,
-I imagine after this, Mina and Eijiro leave to start their own agency. They skyrocket hard after public apologies and Kirishima confessing why he stuck around. They do very well for themselves. Bakugou as I said tanks, and never really recovers.

First Dance

Summary: You’ve known Bakugou since your UA days but at the alumni dance things feel a little different between you two. Flashbacks included. Bakugou pov mostly.

Bakugo tried to loosen his tie, it was hot in the dance hall. It was good to see Class 1A back together again, even if he would never admit it. Class 1B on the other hand... damn he wanted to strangle that pompous straw haired copy cat Monoma. He took a deep breath and focused back on the group he was talking to. 
Kirishima was talking animatedly to Shoji, one arm around Mina. They took a while to get together after graduation but Bakugo was glad it happened, he was tired of hearing Kirishima pine after her. Half and Half was busy talking to invisichick Hagakure and Sero. Denki was scheming in a corner with Mineta and slowly Bakugo’s gaze glided around the circle, over Jirou and right onto you. He felt a tightness in his chest and for some reason the room felt warmer. 
Damn it. He thought he was over this stupid crush. It had been three years since graduation and he hadn’t seen you at all since you just came back from doing work overseas. He hadn’t gotten the chance to speak to you since your return. He had kept putting it off. His eyes lingered on you, your smile and that stupid dress you were wearing. 
Although you were deep in conversation with your old friend Jirou, you couldn’t help but feel someone’s gaze on you. Your eyes slide from Jirou’s face, over her shoulder and you make eye contact with Bakugo. In the time you had been gone, you heard that he had been climbing the charts and was now the #2 hero, right behind Midoriya. You had never really gotten over your high school crush on Bakugo and you received notifications on your phone anytime a news story came out with his name on it. You felt your cheeks turn red under his gaze and quickly turned your attention back to Jirou. 
“Something on your mind?” Bakugo had been so focused on you that he hadn’t noticed Kirishima walk right up to him and started looking back and forth between Bakugo and you. 
“FUCK! Shitty hair! You can’t just walk up unannounced. I could have blown you to bits...” 
“C’mon man! Just go talk to her.”
“I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.” 
“Don’t be like that Bakugo... remember the last time we were at something like this?” 
“No.” 
He said no but Bakugo had been beating himself up for three years over it.

It was the graduation dance. The last night before everyone started going their own separate ways. Bakugo had plans to go to Tokyo and start his own hero agency right away. You on the other hand had plans to work overseas and “pay back” in a sense, the foreign powers that helped Japan during its struggle with All For One. You wouldn’t be gone forever, just three years, however there was a certain someone you were hoping would try to make you stay. If he had asked, you would have stayed. 
The party had lasted forever. You had danced all night until you had to take your shoes off because your feet were so sore. The girls kept you busy all night with the usual scheming, gossip, photos, bathroom trips and of course the group dancing. You were gonna miss these girls. You couldn’t think about it or you would start crying. Bakugo on the other hand was acting strangely tonight. He kept walking close to you, acting like he had something to say but then you would make eye contact and he would frown and walk away. You wondered if you had done something to piss him off... Well whatever it was, you might never know. Your flight left in two hours and your ride to the airport was on its way. You heard a slow song start and instead of awkwardly waiting around for someone to ask you to dance, you decided to slip out of the dance and wait for your ride. You might not be able to handle all of the goodbyes anyways. 
At some point in the night Bakugo couldn’t find you. He had been working up the courage to ask you to slow dance all night. He requested three slow songs already. For the first one he just couldn’t get the words out and ended up telling you that you had something on your face. The second time that stupid bird asked you to dance and Bakugo just had to sit and watch from the side of the dance hall. He finally convinced the DJ to give him one more slow song and now you were nowhere to be found. Bakugo was scanning the room looking for you and just before he could give up, Ochako walked right up to him and asked him to dance. He reluctantly accepted. 
“It’s going to be so weird not seeing everyone together anymore. I don’t think I’m ready.” Ochako was trying to make small talk but Bakugo could barely hear her. He was focused on finding you out in the crowd.
“I’m surprised you didn’t ask Y/N to dance...” Ochako said slyly. 
“Huh??” Bakugo’s attention snapped back down to her. 
“I mean, you like her right? Everyone says you like her.” 
“Tchh.” Bakugo looked away but his ears turned red. He didn’t know how everyone knew but he was gonna kill Shitty Hair if he found out he was the leak. 
“She left you know.” 
“What?” Again his attention was 100% on Ochako. 
“She slipped out when the song started. She’s probably on the way to the airport soon.” 
“Already?” Bakugo felt the blood drain out of his face. He wasn’t ready. He hadn’t asked you to dance yet. He hadn’t told you that you looked pretty in your dress, he hadn’t asked you to walk through the gardens with him, he hadn’t had the opportunity to finally confess to you... to maybe kiss you. 
“Go get her.” Ochako had stopped dancing. 
Bakugo looked down at her a little stunned. 
“Go! Go get your girl Dynamight!” She said it louder and caught the attention of others. Kirishima stopped dancing with Mina and looked over to Bakugo. 
“WELL? Go after her!” Mina shouted. 
“C’mon think like a man!” Kirishima added. 
“Ooh! It would be so romantic!” Momo said enthusiastically. 
“SHUT IT!” Bakugo yelled but he was already running out of the doors. 
The brisk night air hit his face as he catapulted himself out of the dance hall and headed towards the front gates.  
“Damnit! This is taking too long!” 
Bakugo stripped off his jacket and tie and threw them behind him onto the dirt path. He rolled up his sleeves and used his quirk to catapult himself into the air. He blasted his way to the front gates in less than two minutes and just in time. 
You were about to get into the car. You had the passenger door open when Bakugo fell out of the sky and skidded to a stop right at the UA gates. His hair was disheveled and he was wiping his hands on his pants. Your heart skipped a beat. 
“Y/N!” 
“Bakugo?” 
Reality caught up to Bakugo in that moment. He didn’t know what to say... “Come back and dance with me.”?? That would be ridiculous. 
“Uhh... I... are you... leaving?” He managed to force out some words, some question, even if that question had a million other questions behind it. 
“Yeah...” You gave him a confused look. Wasn’t it obvious? 
“Oh. Off to the States right away then?” 
“My flight leaves in like two hours.” 
“Right. Well, I just wanted to say...” Bakugo was at war with himself. He had to say he was afraid. He had faced villains on very power level but somehow this was more terrifying then every one of those encounters combined. He wanted to say so many things, 
“I’ve loved you ever since I met you! I wanted to dance with you! Your dress looks amazing! I’ve admired you as a student as a hero but mostly as a person. You’re beautiful inside and out! You were the first to be kind to me and I want to protect your kindness for the rest of my life! AND MOST OF ALL I DON’T WANT YOU TO LEAVE!!” 
But Bakugo didn’t say any of those things. 
“You wanted to say...?” You asked. Bakugo had stopped in the middle of his sentence and was giving you a wide eyed look. 
“Yeah I just wanted to say... good luck.” He opened his mouth again as though to add on, but he snapped it shut again. 
“Oh...well...” You can’t say you weren’t disappointed. But it was always a naïve hope that Bakugo might share your feelings. You quickly smiled to cover your disappointment. 
Bakugo watched as you smiled and ran towards him throwing your arms around his neck. He felt the breath leave his body and his arms clamped around your waist and he buried his face in your shoulder. 
“Thank you Bakugo.” and with that you were leaving his arms, getting into the car and slipping away.

Bakugo had spent the last three years replaying everything that went wrong that night. He had tried to move on, he went on so many dates in the first year that he lost count. But he never could make it to the second date. He tried focusing on his career and he rose pretty quickly after he gave up on dating. But it was hard, playing wingman for Kirishima and Kaminari, being a groomsman at Izuku and Ochako’s wedding and watching you post about your foreign adventures, only wishing he could be there with you. It made his blood boil thinking about all the people you could be meeting who might catch your interest. All because he was too afraid to make a move that night. 
“You do.” Bakugo’s attention snapped back to the present as Kirishima said this. Bakugo merely scoffed. 
“I know you remember Bakugo. You got so wasted afterwards and all you could do was whine about how you let her go. Actually... it’s the only thing you talk about after you get drunk...” 
“Shut up or I’ll shut you up Red.” Bakugo warned. 
“Alright... But I’m gonna ask the DJ for a slow song and if you don’t ask her to dance I’m gonna tell everyone about that time two years ago you fought that laughing gas villain and-” Kirishima couldn’t finish his sentence because he had to dodge Bakugo’s oncoming blow and run to the DJ’s table before Bakugo could catch him.
Damnit. Bakugo watched as Kirishima talked animatedly to the DJ and pointed to his phone. The music started playing moments later. Kirishima was right though. Tonight he wouldn’t mess up and let you slip away again. He turned and found you still talking to Jirou, right where he left you. He strode over to you, blatantly interrupting your conversation and held out his hand. 
“Dance with me.” 
You looked up at him with a look of shock and he realized he still had no sense of tact even after all these years. Your shock faded into a grin and he felt relief flood his body. 
“Alright.” You took his hand and he pulled you in and slid his other arm around your waist. You began to sway to the music and everything else seemed to fade away. 
“How was your time away?” Bakugo asked his head tilting down. 
“It was amazing! Oh you would have loved it! There was so many things to see, so many landmarks and museums! I learned so much! Oh and I met a lot of people too!” Your face lit up as you spoke. 
“Oh really?” Bakugo felt his heart drop at that last part. 
“Yeah! I wished- I mean I wish you were there to see it.” 
“Hah, maybe next time princess...”
“Princess? Are you saying I look like a princess?” 
Bakugo turned red. 
“You wish y/n.” 
“Oh come on, is it so hard to say I look good? I put some effort in you know.” 
“Tchh..” 
You were both silent. You didn’t know what to say next. Maybe you flirted a little too much with him. You were just so excited to see him again, you couldn’t help it! 
“You don’t look good.” 
“What?!” 
“You look great.” Bakugo said blushing and avoiding eye contact. You leaned up so your lips were close to his ear. 
“You look pretty great yourself.” 
Bakugo couldn’t help it. A shiver went down his body and he could feel his face turn as red as a tomato. He stopped dancing. He pulled back and looked at you. 
“Y/n...” 
Then he leaned down, his hand cupping your face and he gazed into your eyes as if asking for permission. Permission which you gave. Suddenly his lips were on yours and he was kissing you. He was kissing you like he was drinking up your soul, pulling your face up into his, his lips surprisingly tender. He handled you like you were precious. It was nothing like how you imagined kissing Bakugo would be but it was amazing. You broke off the kiss when you started hearing the cheers. 
“Man we’ve been waiting forever for you guys to do that!” Sero yelled across all the cheering. 
Bakugo didn’t even care. He just grinned down at you. 
“You’re telling me Soy Sauce...” Bakugo said but only loud enough for you to hear.

Summary: You are added to a secret group chat.
Bakugou forces Midoriya to take a holiday, Midoriya looses his mind and so are you.
Midoriya realizes why does Y/N feel different than his other friends.
(Author is sleep deprived but it’s Izuku’s birthday, so ignore the mistakes and enjoy the early content. 😂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!)

Midoriya was barely home this week. He left with everyone the next day after the get-together and didn’t come back until late in the night, and even then, he only slept a few hours and went out again. There was a massive villain group on the loose around town so the two main agencies; Deku’s and Dynamight’s; barely had time to sleep before they were needed again.
To be honest, you needed some time to think so you really didn’t mind having a few days without the cuddly greenette but after a while the urge to see him got stronger than your common sense so you ended up asleep on the sofa just to be able to hear Midoriya’s mumbles for a few minutes before passing out again, finding yourself in your own bed the next morning.
You still don’t remember too much about that night; you know it was important and you know you are missing an important piece of the puzzle, but the memory is lost between the daydreams of soft lips and scarred hands. Your feelings are so tangled you can’t seem to see the end of it; you are stuck between feeling adoration for your favorite hero and being in love with one; adoration sounds too shallow but love sounds too fake; you are nothing but a lucky fan, so “love” is out of the game for you; Midoriya Izuku might be an affectionate, loving person but even with a big heart like his there is no way he can see you in a romantic way, so you try your best to keep your romantic feelings at bay; clearly failing at it, but you are indeed trying. Hard. Really hard.
You are quirkless and weird, you look okay but you are nothing out of the ordinary; you are not a model nor a genius, there is nothing about you that stands out enough for you to be even considered as a romantic interest.
Also, you are his flatmate. Even if things go the way you want them to, things can get weird really quickly; It’s risky business and you’ve had enough of those in the last few years so even though it hurts like hell you decide to take a step back. It’s not worth it to throw this beautiful thing between you and him away just because you can’t keep it in your pants, because honestly, the way Midoriya’s treating you is already more than what you could’ve ever asked for; he’s loving and affectionate and even you with your zero confidence can see how fond he is of you. You just need to put your stupid fluffy feelings aside and enjoy his company when he actually comes home, then get ready to have your heart broken when a better person takes your place in his heart.
It will be fine. Everything will be fine, eventually.

When you look at your phone, you are surprised to see a bunch of notifications on it; apparently, you were added to a group during the night. The group is called….

Pikachu: Welcome to the group, Y/N! This group was made so we can keep an eye on Zuku when he’s too busy to reply to all of us!
Kacchan Sugoi: No, this group was made to talk shit about shitty Deku, because he’s an asshole who can’t even respond to messages.
EMO bitch(Jirou): No, I’m quite sure this group was made so we can all laugh at Deku’s shenanigans. Like how he said sorry to a lamppost the other day, because he bumped into it.
Piggy 🐷 (Mina): I thought this group is for surprise party planning? 🎈 💃
Glasses 👓: Guys, don’t confuse Y/N. We are all here because we worry about our friend and this way we can always get information from Bakugou-san about his well-being. As you live with our friend you will also be able to talk to us if something bothers you and we can also ask you about him when we are worried. You have no idea what’s Bakugou talking about, but the group looks really fun and you are really thankful to be a part of it. It’s still extremely weird to be involved with so many of your favorites on such a personal level, but you are getting much better at handling this.

You make your way out of your room around 10 AM to get a head start on your new commission. Midoriya’s next free day is in three days, so you don’t even bother putting on more layers; you are in shorts and a breezy tank top, your hair up in a messy bun. You do a quick stretch before sitting down at the table, your top riding up to your belly button, when you hear something falling on the floor in the living room. Ahh, your buddy is being a menace again.
“All Meowt, I told you not to sit on the coffee table! What did you…”
Midoriya stares at you from the sofa.
“Break…”
A random ball-shaped stress toy rolls on the floor until All Meowt snatches it and runs away.
“…this time?”
“Uhm… Hi.” Midoriya mumbles with a flushed face, and awkward smile decorating his pretty face.
“IZU-IZU!”
All your stupid thoughts are thrown out of the window as soon as you see the adorable greenette; you missed him so fucking much you actually had withdrawal symptoms at one point.
By the look of it, Midoriya went through the same thought process and met you halfway in the living room, hugging you tightly. Thanks to the breezy tank top his hands end up on your naked skin, sending shivers down your body; he moves his hands away while a barely audible “sorry” leaves his mouth.
“I missed you.” You look into his green eyes with a fond smile; from up close you can see how the outside of his irises are darker than the rest and it gets lighter and lighter by the middle. You also realize his eyes are absolutely huge; it’s really hard to stop staring into them.
“Stop looking at me like that.” The greenette sighs as he presses his forehead against yours; the word stops again and there is nothing but you and him in the middle of the living room.
“Why?” You mumble cheekily, a mischievous smirk appearing on your face.
Hey, it’s just two buddies having fun, okay?
“Y/N, can I kiss you?” The greenette spurts out, then pales; he almost THROWS you away the second he finishes his sentence. You stumble backwards from the strength of the push, staring at the red faced hero, waiting for an explanation. He did not say that, did he?!
“I mean, in a friendly way! On your cheeks or your hair, I’ve been thinking about it quite a lot, oh my god that was such a bad timing, wasn’t it, it sounded like I want to kiss you on your lips, not like kissing you on your lips would be a problem, I mean, you are really pretty and cute and you smell so nice, OhMyGodWhyDidISayThatOutoud, please, I really meant it in a friendly, affectionate way, oh my god I think I’m going to throw up, Y/N, what have I done, I need to go to the bathroom.” Midoriya then runs, his face changing between ‘white as a sheet’ and ‘red as a tomato’ as he hurries towards the bathroom, retching on the way.
You stare at the door for a few seconds before you burst out laughing, hysterically. There is no other way to get through this trauma than to laugh about it. Honestly, what the fuck was that?
“Don’t laugh at me, Y/N!” Midoriya whines from the bathroom. “This is so embarrassing!”
“You are an absolute idiot, Midoriya, but I fucking love you for it.” You yell in between two laughing fits as the hero emerges from the bathroom with a sad look on his face.
“Hey husband, come here.” You coo at the red faced greenette with a shit eating grin. Wow, you can’t believe you can bully your favorite hero like that. You do feel bad about it, but you can hate yourself later, now you just want to have fun.
He slowly moves closer but doesn’t look up; he just stares at the floor, mortified. You take his cheeks in your hand and give him a huge kiss on his forehead, then move down to his cheek; it’s so soft and so warm under your lips, your heart skips a beat. You can feel the blush creeping up on your face but fuck it; there is no place for a sad Midoriya in this household and if he wants kisses then he gets kisses. “Better?” The greenette just nods and pulls you close to hide his face in your neck, which seems to be his favorite thing to do with you as you guys usually end up in this position every time you get close to each other.
You don’t like the fact that he feels like he needs to hide from the world, but you appreciate the sentiment anyway; you really hope you can cure him out of this habit by the end of the year though. He’s such a great person and such a handsome guy, he really shouldn’t feel so self-conscious about himself.
“Now will you tell me why are you at home today or do I need to call Mama Katsuki?” You stroke Midoriya’s hair, his curls bouncing under your palm.
“Kacchan forced me to take a holiday. I hate holidays.” He murmurs, his face still hidden in your neck as he sighs by the end of the sentence.
“Bruhuhuh, you’ll need to be with me for a whole week? How terrible!” You act offended, pushing the green haired moron away. He looks at you with his puppy eyes and runs back to his hiding place while your heart skips another beat; this week will be awesome.

This week… is not awesome.
Midoriya has lost his mind. Completely.
The first few days were amazing; you watched movies while cuddling on the sofa, made food together and all that typical roomie jazz. The problems started when you realized you need to finish three commissions in a few days because there is a hero convention on the weekend you really want to go to and you asked the greenette to leave you alone for a bit so you can get a head start on them. He left for a day to see his mum, then came back with a bunch of homemade brownies. You managed to finish one of the commissions by the time he came back and also was able to start the other one. Great stuff.
…But this poor guy has zero hobbies. He tried to take care of the garden; he ended up overwatering everything so you left your drawing and went over to help him out; telling him about how much water the plants need, about what to cut and what not, while the hero looked at you like you just told him how to cure cancer and insisted to watch another movie while cuddling “to thank you”.
Then he tried to make dinner, almost burning the house down when he accidentally left the paper towel next to the open flame. Needless to say, you had to abandon your project and help the guy out with the rest of the cooking. He looked at you with his puppy eyes again and insisted to cuddle, because he was “really sad and lonely”.
You gave him a quick cuddle, but you really had to finish your commissions now; Midoriya moaned but he let you go. It only took him 2 hours to sit down next you and start giving you harsh feedback on every single flaw on the picture. For the next three days, Midoriya did nothing but sat next to you, sometimes touching your skin out of boredom and making you ruin a line or apply too much pressure on the paper, making a certain area darker than it was supposed to be.
This takes us all back to the present; You have 2 days to finish these bloody commissions. Two. Fucking. Days. You still have a full picture to do.
You need help. Goddamnit, you need help.
“I need to get another pencil from my room.” You stand up quickly, leaving the utterly bored hero sprawled out on the table. You fish your phone out of your pockets and start typing.
— Deku’s Daycare! —
Freeloader: Please, for the love of All Might, help me
Kacchan sugoi: You all owe me 5000 yen.
Pikachu: No way!
Freeloader: ?
Pikachu: Katsuki said you won’t last the whole week with Deku in your ass but we said you definitely will. :(
Freeloader: I’m not done with him or anything, I just need a few hours to finish a commission, that’s it really. He is indeed attached to me 24/7, but… I don’t have a problem with that part until my work is done.
Kacchan sugoi: Liar
Freeloader: Okay, he is a bit much when he’s bored.
Kacchan sugoi: There you go.
Shitty hair: Don’t worry Y/N, I’m on it!
By the time you come back with the same pencil you already had just in a different brand, Midoriya’s phone rings.
“Kiri? … yeah, I can! … that’s fine, see you in a few minutes!”
Midoriya jumps up from the table and runs to his room to change into his streetwear then runs towards the door without a single word. That’s just rude. You might wanted him to leave, but this is unacceptable.
“Not even a goodbye?” You ask, offended, with your hands on your waist.
“I’m so sorry, Eijirou asked me to come over for a bit! I really want you to come but you are busy and probably really done with me by the frustrated look on your face, so I thought I’ll just leave quickly…” Midoriya rambles without taking a single breath as he always does.
“Midoriya, I’m not done with you but I do need to finish these drawings. Stay safe, okay?”
“Will do! Bye!”
… aaaand he’s out of the door.

“Okay love, let me repeat what you’ve just said.” Kirishima looks at the disheveled greenette in front of him. “You feel rejected, because you asked Y/N if you can kiss her and she laughed.”
The other hero whines and slams his head into the table, leaving a dent in the furniture.
“Oi shithead, we just bought that fucking table!” Katsuki yells from the kitchen, rocking his all might apron while putting a batch of freshly made cookies into the oven.
“She laughed at me, yes! Like, it was a full on laughing fit! I felt like an idiot!”
“You are an idiot.” Katsuki grumbles from the kitchen; he really tries to make it look like he doesn’t care, but by the look of it, he really does. Kirishima thinks his roommate is adorable.
“So what happened after?”
“She kissed my forehead.”
Kirishima is really confused.
“So she laughed at you but then she kissed you, just how you wanted it. Am I missing something?”
“I don’t understand either!” Midoriya yells, looking like he’s having problems with his bowel movements. Maybe that’s the problem. Midoriya just needs to take a big old dump.
“It’s quite obvious, if you ask me.” The blonde comes in with a box of freshly made cookies after putting the timer on for the next batch.
Is it?! Is Kirishima missing something?
Yeah, Kirishima is indeed missing something. It only takes him one look at his best friend, who’s trying to talk to him by telepathy to understand the issue here.
“Izuku, my clueless, adorable friend.” Kirishima sighs, taking his friend’s hands into his own, slowly caressing the skin to calm the green haired man. “You do know you have a massive fat crush on her and you probably are just sad because you wanted her to kiss you somewhere else, right?”
“What? I do not h-have a c-crush on her!” Midoriya pulls his hands out of Kirishima’s grasp. “She’s my flatmate! That would be absolutely inappropriate!”
Katsuki didn’t like the way Midoriya has said that so he slams his hand on the table, leaving another dent. Oh well, it doesn’t matter anyway, it was already ruined by Midoriya only a few minutes ago so he might as well just explode it to pieces.
“Look into my fucking eyes, you dickless moron and tell me you don’t want to fuck her in those pajama shorts.” Katsuki looks deep into Midoriya’s eyes who swallows dramatically.
“Let me translate.” Kirishima smiles, clearly done with this shit. “Hypothetically… let’s say Y/N misunderstands you and kisses you on the lips. Passionately.”
Midoriya pales then gets red as a tomato, looking away into the distance while he thinks. After a few silent minutes, he starts to mumble.
“I have a massive, fat crush on my adorable flatmate in her adorable pajama shorts.”
“There you go, buddy.” Kirishima pats his head a few times, proud of his work.
“Now take these fucking cookies with you and fuck off. Invite her to the convention on the weekend as your plus one.” Katsuki slams the box in front of his friend aggressively. “What are you waiting for?! Get out of my fucking flat and bother someone else on their free day, goddamnit!”
Midoriya mumbles a few random words and quickly leaves through the window like the weirdo he is.
“Use the door, you stupid fuck! You do this every single time!”
Katsuki is in a mood. Nothing is funnier than Katsuki being in a mood when he’s wearing an All Might apron like a cute house wife.
“You are so cute, Kats.” The redhead looks at his flatmate dreamily.
“I fucking hate you too.” The blonde scoffs and retreats to the kitchen again.
Kirishima smiles to himself; he absolutely adores his friends.

Kacchan sugoi: Midoriya stepped on my fucking window seal again.
Piggy 🐷: how dare he.

Potato rambles:
- So a lovely reader asked me about Katsuki’s funny story that haven’t been told in the last chapter of the story so here it comes!
Katsuki was in his room and he was quite angry; Denki made fun of him for not trying to play around with his snake yet as everyone else had already did (don’t ask why were they talking about this…) so Katsuki decided to give it a try.
His control of his quirk wasn’t the best back then and by the end of his shenanigans, his palm exploded. He thankfully moved away quickly from his willy but ended up exploding his sheets and Kirishima ran in to check up on him after hearing the explosion, and there Katsuki was, covered in his FLAMING sheets, looking like an an absolute idiot. Needless to say, Kirishima took a picture and fled the scene, knowing the blonde can’t possibly run after him with a naked ass. Well… he certainly did. They both got detention after.

- Midoriya does have one hobby, it’s hero analysis but he kinda ran out of people to analyze at this point. All Meowt doesn’t like to be petted for longer than 5 minutes so he was also not helpful.
- How did Katsuki force Deku to take a holiday? I have no idea this is a fanfiction shut up
- I managed to accidentally buy another figurine yesterday. This time, it was Kirishima. I’m not sorry. At all.
- I managed to break one of my colleagues today by telling them my real age. They thought I’m 20. Fuck, I wish.

genuinely HOW could you do this to me, I am so indecisive and I have so many favorite things </3 Also get ready for the sheer volume of words I am about to throw at you :D
SO, favorite characters. Obv there are So Many Characters in this show, but I still feel like I can count the ones I don't like on one hand and have fingers left over. I definitely have some obvious favorites (Aizawa, Mic, Shinsou) and some only-slightly-less obvious ones (Shigaraki, All Might, Hawks), but there are also some faves I don't yap about as much like Kirishima, Jirou, Miruko, and VLAD KING the LOVE of my LIFE. I queued a post recently about Inasa being an underrated fave, which is still true, but Vlad King is truly the king (haHA) of underrated faves. I love that man a ridiculous amount. THE TL;DR HERE IS THAT I LOVE 98% OF THE CHARACTERS IN THIS SHOW SM IT'S UNREAL.
Arcs & subplots under the keep reading bc my main personality trait (never shutting up) struck again ! The short answer is Sports Festival & Todorokis, Shinsou, Rooftop gang for anyone who doesn't want to stare at that wall of text 😭
Favorite arcs: I have almost as many favorite arcs as I do favorite characters LMAO. You are SO RIGHT about the Endeavor Agency arc; usually people are forced to witness Midoriya & Bakugou's drama but oh, how the tables have turned. I also love Fuyumi and Natsuo and am always delighted to see them, even if they <3 punching me directly in the feelings :(
The USJ arc is, imo, a perfectly executed plot point, so from a writing perspective I really love USJ. It's got action, it's got character spotlights, but most importantly, it ties together the plot/character/worldbuilding threads of the first season so perfectly. Like. It's seamless. It was a writing school level moment. No notes.
The Hideout Raid arc (specifically All Might vs AFO) and Paranormal Liberation War gave me grays at 25. Joint Training is always a delight. But if I had to pick One Arc to Rule Them All it might honestly be Sports Festival?? It features all of my top three favorite characters for more than one (1) scene each and it is just. Such a wild time.
There is so much to unpack about this arc but it has a very special place in my heart bc the first time I ever watched it (so, like, 5+ years ago) my sister and I for some reason decided to treat it like people who care about the Super Bowl treat the Super Bowl. It was our Olympics except the team we were rooting for changed depending on the episode. To this day I remember my sister turning on a DIME from hating Bakugou since Season 1 Episode 1 to CHAMPIONING him with her whole chest bc Monoma pissed her off so much when he stole Bakugou's headbands. And now he's like her second favorite character in the entire series so?? Origin story moment ig.
Last but not least, favorite subplots!!
TODOROKIS. YEAH. Their entire plotline was one of the major factors that motivated me to catch up on the show. I was like what do you mean they're trying to give superhero Fire Lord Ozai a redemption arc? What do you mean that other fire guy was actually a Todoroki? Like... you have to remember that where I left off w this show, Endeavor seemed to exist solely to give Shouto a backstory, and honestly I remembered like nothing about Dabi. If getting back into MHA was a pit of quicksand the Todorokis truly walked me right up to the edge of it. It was like that part of TAZ where Taako is like 'okay that's weird enough that I'm gonna go in there.'
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Shinsou's off-screen character arc is EVERYTHING to me. I could write a thesis on this side character who appears like. Three times in the entire show. Shinsou really said 'I will be a mirror character AND undo the First Great Contradiction of this series AND have tangible, believable character growth, all while being given less screen time than Mineta' and I love that for him.
The rooftop gang... I'm not going to say much on this one for manga reasons but it's definitely a subplot I find very compelling. I'm still ruminating on its execution so far but I Did Cry over the Reveal in season 5. It re-contextualized so much, not just about Aizawa and Mic, but about UA and the lives of hero students. Ack.

My problem with bkdk is that I emotionally got disconnected from the ship because of how it was written. I know they are friends and see each other but other than that, what are they? They arent a hero duo, they arent competing against each other, they dont work together, Horikoshi says that Bkg isnt special to Izuku because its now Ochako, so bkdk dont even have a special bond apparently. They dont share a future together. Like... what am I supposed to feel for this ship? Again, I get that theyre friends but it is not enough for me to be invested in this.
No disrespect, truthfully, but we have opposing ideas. And what I'm about to say, you don't have to agree with. I don't ever expect that from anybody.
If there's one thing that 431 did keep consistent is that it is open-ended as 430 is.
With that said, I don't see how this chapter is telling us that Bakugou and Midoriya can't be a hero duo. I said it before, they don't need an agency to do that. Just because Midoriya isn't working at the same building don't mean they can't be heroes together. Miruko, a Hero who works alone and doesn't have an agency, has constantly been shown to partner with other Heroes, so how could that not work for BakuDeku?
Yes, Midoriya and Bakugou won't always be working in the field together. Because Midoriya chose to be a teacher, it makes him happy and he should do something that does make him happy.
That doesn't mean their special bond is gone. That doesn't mean Ochako is suddenly that special person to Izuku. I have my reasons to think that.
And while this chapter is weirdly written the more I think about it, the less this chapter does feel like an Izuku and Ochako chapter. I feel more like a self-acceptance chapter. It was just... not written well, I guess. Or something else! I'll talk about that later.
I said it before in a post long before we even got the full chapter, Izuku and Ochako mirror each other.
Here's the thing about MHA and being a SJ manga. If this chapter was really meant to be for Izuku and Ochako getting together, then how come whoever worked on this chapter didn't have them actually mention each other in their conversations before meeting up with each other?
Instead, the conversations they have with the others (Izuku with Katsuki and Eijiro, Ochako with Tsu) is about themselves. The conversations was about their (Izuku's/Ochako's) work lives. About how they're feeling.
I haven't actually seen if they even mentioned the other at all until the very end of the chapter.
I find it interesting that the part where Izuku is turning his head to look at Ochako, there's this phrase that says, from the translations I saw, "... a version of myself" or "... a me I haven't discovered..."
That sounds more like self-discovery than him realizing romantic feelings which is long over due, let's be real. Again, that mirroring I mentioned!
Who in the heck has a self-discovery journey and comes to the conclusion they need to be romantically involved with someone? If anything that's how relationships fall apart. You have to love yourself first. Accept who you are and change what is needed to be.
To me, that moment, was Izuku coming to the realization that he could be a better him. Katsuki states to him that he thinks Izuku should start thinking more highly of himself. Izuku doesn't do that much for himself. Neither does Ochako.
Both of their goals aligned with something revolving around other people.
Both wanted to be heroes, wanting to save and make people smile. Ochako had the goal to become a hero to have money to help her parents. Izuku wanted to be a hero like All Might. Which is him wanting to be like another person.
In previous chapters, we had Ochako reflecting on herself whenever Izuku came into the frame. She finds herself striving to be like him. This time around, it's Izuku's turn.
With the scene with Himiko and Ochako, Himiko pushes Ochako to be happy. But she never said to be happy with whoever you want. Just be happy with the way you want to live. That doesn't mean dating.
If this chapter was meant to be romantic for our main boy and girl, then why did it feel more like self-discovery? Why didn't this chapter cater more to developing a potential romance from the start of it? They have held hands before that looked more romantic (chapter 322, which is so funny to me that in the anime, they made it look less so) than that dap up.
Now why was this chapter framed to look like some "potential romance" between these two?
It just looks more like sneaky writing really to keep a crowd of people happy. That's the "something else" I mentioned earlier.
It's like "it looks like this, but really it's this".
So really, this chapter may look like it's set up for some romance for Izuku and Ochako, but instead it's set up for the two to accept themselves and what they want to do with their lives.
I know, I know. The whole "Ochako became Izuku's special person" part.
One, I don't find anything wrong with Izuku wanting to make that moment about Ochako because he hasn't spoken to her in a while anyways. At that moment, she became the person be wanted to talk to. They did become close friends during UA and who wouldn't want to make time for a friend?
Second, again bringing up back the mirror, what if this is Izuku seeing Ochako as him? Metaphorically, it's him wanting to talk to himself. Ochako is his mirror and he is hers. It's him finally coming to terms with wanting do something that doesn't involve him catering to other people. Same on Ochako's end. What if that's the case?
That's just my interpretation and again, I don't expect you or anyone else to see it the way I do.
The chapter didn't really make me feel disconnected from BakuDeku at all. I'm the same person whose favorite MHA ship right now is of two characters who don't interact on screen. So this chapter isn't stopping me any time soon.
Heck, this chapter even made me adore TsuChako more. That's been my ship since day one and even with the whole TogaChako rise, didn't stop me from seeing pink and green and crying at the thought of TsuChako.
It's so funny to me that in this very chapter that Izuku and Ochako literally made plans to see Katsuki and Tsuyu the following day. (Tsu and Ochako being at an agency together and Katsuki being Izuku's guest teacher.)
Now, if you feel disconnected from BakuDeku, that's fine. I'm not going to tell you to not feel disconnected or convince you otherwise. If you feel disconnected, maybe not look at anything related to the two. Don't talk about them anymore. Anything you have to, really.
I'm not going to tell you to feel how you choose to and again, this answer to the ask isn't me trying to convince you to change your mind.

firstly
not surprising that you guys had an argument
he can be pretty disagreeable
you were trying to get his advice on a hero costume upgrade
but he didn’t feel like being helpful that day, i guess
because he got snappy with you and asked you why you hadn’t thought of this already
you could think of countless times he’d not thought of things 
which only made you retaliate
because if he’s allowed to think of things later down the track, so are you
but the moment you voiced that
it all went to shit
‘oh my fucking god, you’re such a pest, this is pathetic.’
at that point you gave up and left him alone until you went on the mission
it was supposed to be a simple investigation
you’d gone with some of the others from your ua days
midoriya, iida, tsuyu and shoji
but it seemed that the villains were a step ahead of you
and though the others advised to retreat and return later
you told them to go back
you’d hold them off to buy them time
which they do - begrudgingly
but they make a beeline for bakugou’s agency
when he sees them barging into the building, he’s pretty annoyed, but quickly notices you’re not with them
he asked your whereabouts in the most serious tone they’ve ever heard from him
when they lead him back to you, his breath hitched in his throat
there, in a pile of rubble, was your body
unconscious and covered in blood
rushing to you, he pressed his fingers to your neck
panic filled his mind when he could feel it, but barely
as iida called the medics, bakugou kept mumbling about how he was sorry and that he should’ve helped you with your gear, otherwise you wouldn’t be here
a wave of guilt washed over him as he waited for the medics to take you to hospital
he would have yelled at midoriya for pointing out the tears that lined his eyelashes, but he got mad at you for something stupid and look where you are now
when you were passed off to the medics, he felt paralysed in his spot as your hand that was resting on your stomach slipped and hung lifelessly off the stretcher
no one could get him to move from his spot with mere words, and it took shoji to carry him from the scene for bakugou’s pained wails to finally be let loose
──  𝐓𝐎𝐊𝐎𝐘𝐀𝐌𝐈 𝐅𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐆𝐄.
he’s a bit of an edge lord
and i feel like the argument would have started with him just being pessimistic about everything
he can take it too far though
the night before you left
he was talking about how all good things come to an end or something
and you asked if that’s how he felt about your relationship
that was what made him annoyed in the first place
and in his irritated state, he said yes
so now, at 2 am
you’re virtually yelling at each other until he tells you
‘if you can’t deal with me and my beliefs, just leave. don’t be a burden to me.’
‘fine.’
the morning of the mission, you considered saying goodbye
but his words repeated through your head 
and you decided to head off without seeing him again
you were grouped with lower level heroes and even though there were plenty of you
the villains were stronger than you’d anticipated
the others offered to call for tokoyami for backup
but you refused the help, saying that it wouldn’t be worth burdening him over this and to just fall back and let you handle it
and though they retreated, they still ran to get tokoyami
they actually didn’t tell him why he had to come and fast
because you were on the verge of death at any moment
which was true, because it was a 5 vs 1 and you weren’t sure how much longer you could last
when he got to the scene, all he could see was red
everywhere
blood was splattered against almost everything, though to varying degrees
at the base of a lamp post, you lay in a pool of your own blood
kneeling by your side and pulling you into his arms, you weakly struggled against his hold, but a strangled cry escaped your lips at the pain
tokoyami’s heart shattered, both from the sound of you hurt and the fact that you tried to reject his help
lifting you gently, your head rolled back and your eyes finally closed
passing you to the medics, he laid you on the stretcher and rested his forehead against yours, nuzzling your nose with his beak before letting you go
his mind raced with reasons you wouldn’t call for him as you always had done if you were in dire need of assistance, but he soon recalled your argument from the night before
he turned to the remaining villains, but not before telling dark shadow to go wild
he wouldn’t let your injuries be for nothing
──  𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐎𝐔 𝐇𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐒𝐇𝐈.
what an untrusting fellow
he’s still a bit cold
childhood trauma does that to someone
he probably pushed you away when you asked if he was ok
he was very pouty when you were leaving the house
and then he got kinda mad when you pointed it out
it very quickly got to a point in the argument where it was no longer about the original point you each were making
you both started pulling shit from previous fights and going around in circles
until eventually it hit the climax
‘stop being so annoying and just go on your fucking mission.’
you stood there with your mouth agape
and shinsou was too slow to take it back before you were out the door
to be honest
you definitely needed help with this mission
more than you’d already got
because there had already been a couple casualties
and the villains were far from worn out
meanwhile you and your team were spent
you didn’t feel any pain with the adrenaline running through your veins
and you were heavily debating calling for back up 
but the nearest agency would be shinsou’s
and you weren’t gonna deal with his attitude
you would rather die in that moment
and you almost did if your team didn’t call for back up in your stead
running to the mission site, his eyes darted around the scene, looking for you
a teammate gripped his shoulder, pointing to the building you were last in
but as soon as he followed their finger, a scream erupted from his throat as a bomb explosion filled his ears and remnants of the building rained down the streets
sprinting into the just-exploded building, he called your name over and over again
the lack of response filled his stomach with dread as he frantically searched the building for you
he dropped to his knees when he found your limp body sprawled along the stairwell, blood seeping into the concrete and dripping over the edge
he didn’t think he was all that much of a crier
but he couldn’t help the tears that escaped his eyes at the sight of you on death’s door
as the rest of your team arrived at his location, he turned to them, practically growling as he asked why they didn’t stay with you
when they nervously told him the reason, his heart broke just a little bit more and he stared at the ground blankly, praying that you would make it long enough for him to apologise

the guy is super stressed
and probably snapped at you because of that
you came in to say goodbye to him
and he literally just wanted to sleep
but he can’t see you off if he’s asleep ;v;
gently, you woke him up with a small nudge
and when he opened his eyes, you couldn’t help but feel dumb for doing so
because the glare he gave you told you enough
after asking what you want, you just said you wanted to say goodbye to him before you left
‘if that’s all, let me sleep. you’re disturbing me.’
closing his eyes, he sighed in exhaustion as he heard you leave
it was mainly a training mission you were assigned
helping near-graduates from ua for their internships
it was meant to just be that
but you definitely couldn’t account for an underground group of villains to wreak havoc
you told the students to retreat for their safety
and it would’ve been a good idea to follow, but you refused to be a disturbance
regardless, aizawa was called to come collect the students
and when he got there, he was quite alarmed that your presence was absent
and his concern was valid as they brought him back to the fight scene
you were barely conscious, eyes fluttering shut soon after you forced them open
your hand weakly pressed against your side to stop the large gash that oozed blood at a faster rate than anyone had ever seen
aizawa turned to the students to thank them, but gently pushed them to the other heroes who had turned up 
he didn’t want them to witness what could be the death of their mentor
gently, he sat you up, wincing at your sharp scream of pain, but wrapped his capture weapon around your waist
leaning your head against his chest gently, you muttered an apology for disturbing him
his heart shattered at your words and he stared at your wound, the blood seeping through his capture weapon and staining his clothes
he softly called your name as he began his apology, but stopped when he looked at your face again, noticing your eyes had closed and feeling your body go limp
he reached for your wrist, feeling for your pulse and anxiously glancing at your face in case you opened your eyes again
when he felt your pulse, even if it was light, he cradled your head to his chest and pressed a chaste kiss to your forehead, holding onto you in case you slipped from him if he loosened his grip

and he says about a thousand things per day that he wished he never did
this is possibly the one he regrets the most
because you would be working with overhaul and the shie hassaikai
and though you knew this was an important mission
you didn’t particularly want to go
there was something about him that made you feel uncomfortable
so when you went to say goodbye to shigaraki
you mentioned how you were hesitant
but that clearly didn’t sit well with him
‘why didn’t you say something at the start? i wouldn’t have sent someone useless otherwise.’
so here you are
just trying to survive
because huzzah, heroes n shit have come to infiltrate the base
how surprising
you weren’t gonna lie
you were out of your depth
but you were very determined to do as much as you could
even if toga and twice told you to come with as they retreated
to which you responded by an exhausted shake of your head and running back into battle
toga and twice looked at each other with uncertainty, but took kurogiri’s portals back to base anyway
it was kurogiri who noticed your absence first, actually
and then shigaraki hit them with a brief interrogation filled with rage as to why they left you
demanding kurogiri to warp him to you, his eyes widened as you leaned against a wall, eyes closed and mouth slightly agape
he briefly noticed the blood that dripped from your mouth, but his main point of concern was the pole that pierced through your torso
a hushed whisper of your name left his lips, but he stood still
frozen in shock
he couldn’t pull the pole out of you or you’d die, and he couldn’t move you or you’d be in more pain
but he couldn’t leave you to die here
cautiously, he knelt by your side and pressed a light kiss to your cheek, leaning his head on your shoulder
reaching for your hand, he mumbled into your shoulder words of affirmation, even if they were pointless
when kurogiri brought the both of you back, shigaraki didn’t want anyone to even be near you, holding you closer whenever someone tried to come nearer
though he couldn’t stand to be in the room where you were being healed, your screams of agony will ring in his head as a permanent reminder of one of his biggest mistakes

part two to fwb bakugou short story, but it’ll probably not make you feel anymore happier:
bakugou katsuki never though he was actually attractive until he found out he had a fan club.
call him a naive, but truly, he had no idea. he was always focused on things that mattered — intelligence, ability, skill — that being attractive felt more like a stupid parlor trick. he was thriving one night, having just turned 20 and even though his friends couldn’t drink, that sure didn’t stop them from buying him way too many drinks.
at first, he had been able to yell at them for buying drinks, but kaminari had slung an arm around his shoulder, a conniving smirk on his face as he looked more at kirishima then him.
“well, i’m sure that midoriya would be able to handle all these drinks~”
katsukis hubris would always be his downfall.
he doesn’t remember most of the night, can barely remember the bitter taste of alcohol, but could remember the scalding embrace of the person who warmed his bed. the way their backs arched from the bed, their sweet beautiful praising ringing in his ears as his cock entered their squeezing hole over and over again.
there were a few things he realized that night.
1. sex was good. like really good…. and-
2. being attractive meant more possibilities to have sex.
and finally, the stupid parlor trick had a true value.
sex was a great relief for katsuki. it was mindless, rhythmic, and a new territory for him to become the best in. he realized quickly that he wasn’t exactly looking for anything more than a bed partner, he didn’t really want anything romantic because that meant that this relief would become a job.
not that romance was bad or anything, but with his partnership with work-till-he-drops deku of all people in the hero world, he didn’t have any time to provide anything but sex. but he knew entirely well that working with deku showed the pros and cons of having a partner, and well, there wasn’t a lot of cons. so sue him, sometimes there were a few people that stayed longer then a night.
by the time he’s 26, he’s thriving off the system he’s made, work eat sex sleep, even if sometimes the sex part had angry rioters after him, they were the only things that mattered.
nothing seemed to be going wrong, well until it did.
he had met some girl at a conference. she had said she wasn’t a hero, nor a support hero, so bakugou assumed she was nothing more than some overcommitted fangirl who managed to get in to the conference.
she had a nice smile, pretty eyes, and seemed to put up with his sometimes brute personality, so he invited her over after the many blunt displays of flirting.
now that was mistake number one.
so after a week of sleeping together, he called it off, but of course of all people she could have been, she was the daughter of the most influential man in japan.
blacklisted.
that’s what he was.
no one wanted him, despite his attractiveness. no one wanted a man who broke hearts after fucking “virgins.” his ability as a pro was being questioned because of his sex life, and not even savior of the fucking world deku could stop the slandering.
before katsuki could decide whether or not he should figure out a way to prove that he had told every past partner that he was simply here for sex, you approached him.
katsuki remembers being a bit confused, a bit put off by your quiet confident approach. you guys weren’t exactly friends in high school, but you had been tight with deku. deku was the reason you had been recruited to work in their agency anyways. as if the world wasn’t already falling apart, your proposition definitely made his unstable world even more stable.
maybe that’s why he laughed bitterly at your request, why he even wanted to agree with it, why he even looked at your plainish features and thought to himself that he’s done so much better that he says, “I can’t promise that I won’t break your heart.”
and you, truly adding the most chaos into his life, simply shrugged.
“…that’s okay, as long as it’s my heart and not yours.”
to say the least, katsuki was taken aback by you. your stamina was par to his own, the keening and crying praises spilling from your lips into his ears sent fire down his spine. finger raked down his back, and the way you submitted to his every whim, desire, and sadistic demand. eyes that were soaked with tears looking at him with blown pupils while swollen blubbering lips begged for more.
it was perfect.
too perfect.
so perfect that when kaminari comments on it one day, something snags on bakugous throat.
“seems like our explodey boy is finally whipped and settling down with y/l/n!” he whistles, low and impressed. “good for the two of ya!”
everyone cheers in agreement.
maybe it was the sake in his system, the cheap beer sitting flush on his cheeks, and the intoxicated energy of high school friends sitting at a bar together, but bakugou opens his mouth and does the one thing he’s undeniably good at: destroying things.
“it isn’t anything serious,” he snaps. “it’s just sex. y/l/n knows it and it hasn’t stopped me from sleeping with anyone else!”
no one dares to call him out on it, but the array of wide eyes and parted lips pisses bakugou off more than them rebutting them could ever do.
“i’ll prove it to you fuckers then!” he hisses, anger wasted on nothing.
so he stands up, upper body flexed and on display and has no issue finding someone immediately interested in fucking a top ranked hero who hasn’t been around in more than a year.
bakugou takes them home, lips and fingers working magic, but his ears don’t hear the buzz of his phone. his angry and slightly drunken brain forget that you’re meant to come over tonight. it was tradition after all.
the moment bakugou finally gets the courage to rip the shirt off the stranger, mind aching because this doesn’t feel right, his front door opens.
as a pro hero, there are many times the world has slowed to a complete stop for him. when he watched buildings fall on friends, when it was one last punch or die, when he needed to save someone. he was used to this uniqueness of time perception and how things slow down. but he never imagined seeing it happen as his eyes open as see you at the entrance of his apartment. files and dinner in your hand, and the millions of emotions that flew through your eyes.
bakugou doesnt even hear the exchange, his heart too loud in his ears, but when he tries to call out… you leave.
the mood is killed, and there’s no more point in lying to himself… bakugou wants you. irrevocably and desperately wants you. with everything he can muster, he runs to your apartment after rushing out the nameless stranger through the front door.
he needs to explain.
he needs to tell you the truth.
he likes you! just you!
it was a mistake.
a hubris, fat headed mistake!
“I told you already, katsuki,” you say softly, the smile on your face small, knowing, yet somehow still so fucking kind. “I told you that it was okay. as long as it was my heart that broke, and not yours.”
the words scream in his ears, and it’s almost tragic that he doesn’t remember that until right now because his heart is frantically beating.
but bakugou musters up a sound again, mind spinning, heart aching. he needs to tell you his thoughts! you need to understand!
but the click of the door in front of his face is louder than any explosion he could ever make.
the sad, distant look on your face remains burned in his mind as he sinks to the floor. back pressed against the wall.
fuck.
fuck!
“it’s not okay though,” he whispers to no one. “my heart is breaking too.”

Chapter 3 - Confront
Summary: Izuku gets hit by quirk which reveals his worst fear – losing Katsuki. Katsuki doesn’t know how to deal with it, confused by his own feelings for the nerd and scared to confront him. Katsuki's avoidance makes Izuku worry his worst fear is coming true - he scared Katsuki away.

Katsuki had ended up in of the agency’s lounges, with some beds and couches and a TV on the wall. He had never used them before, because he would always go straight home after his shifts, longing for his own couch or bed.
Or Izuku’s, if he was being honest. He spent half of his free time at the nerd’s and vice versa.
Katsuki sighed, rubbing his eyes.
He didn’t seem to be able to not think about Izuku for just a few fucking minutes.
There was a knock on the door and before Katsuki could answer, he saw Round face sticking her head into the room.
“Can I come in?”, she asked.
Katsuki sat up, just shrugging for an answer. He wasn’t in the mood to talk to her, to anyone actually, but he needed the distraction.
Uraraka closed the door and walked up to Katsuki, sitting down on a chair, across from him.
“So”, she said after a few moments of silence, “I heard you nearly burnt down one of the trailing halls.”
He shrugged again, suddenly at a loss of words.
“I figured, you must be physically and mentally drained and wanted to check on you.”
He clicked his tongue, looking away from her.
“I’m fine”, he answered.
“I wish I could say, I’m glad to hear that but I can’t. Cause I don’t believe you”, she said, calm and collected.
Katsuki grunted. “What do you want me to say then?”, he looked at her, frowning.
“The truth”, she said simply, “Or that you don’t want to talk about it but don’t lie to me like that. I’m just worried about you!”
He gritted his teeth.
He didn’t need anyone to worry about him! He didn’t need all that questions! He didn’t need his friends constantly texting him if he was alright! Especially when it was Izuku who was still in the hospital, not being released until-
Then it hit him.
He hadn’t answered to Izuku’s text. He hadn’t asked him why his concussion wasn’t wearing off. He knew nothing about what had happened since he had left the hospital in the middle of the night or rather, early in the morning.
“Have you heard from him?”, he asked, ignoring her statement.
At that she sighed deeply, lowering her head. “No. What about you?”
Katsuki closed his eyes. “I haven’t talked to him since before our meeting.”
They were silent for a moment, the only sound coming from the offices around them and some people chatting in the hallways.
“Did you two have a fight?”
Katsuki looked at her, studying her sincere face. She was really only trying to lend him an ear.
He cleared his throat.
“No”, he eventually said, “I just… walked out of him after he woke up, needing some space.”
“Because of his breakdown?”
He shrugged. “Rather after finding out what had caused it in the first place.”
“Which was…?”, she asked carefully. When he didn’t respond, she added: “I don’t want to be nosey and I respect your decision to honor Deku-kun’s privacy, I really do. But I’m just saying, you’re in there too, Bakugou and you also have a right to get things off your chest. Maybe not to me if you’re not comfortable but, like, you know, maybe to someone else.”
Katsuki let out a long deep breath.
“Yeah maybe”, he said, not looking at her, feeling way too flustered at his vulnerable state right now, “But I have to make sense of it by myself first.”
Katsuki didn’t know Izuku’s true feelings behind all of this but he knew that for him, it all went back to his… his… his love for the nerd and he just couldn’t discuss this right now with anyone. His friends kind of knew about his feelings for Izuku but he never openly talked to them about it, so springing it onto them now would just cause more racket than he could handle without exploding something.
Uraraka nodded, standing up from her chair. She placed one hand on his shoulder, offering him a comforting smile. “You’ll figure it out, the two of you. You always do.”
Something in the way her eyes pierced through him, something about the sheer confidence in her voice caught him off guard.
“Does he talk to you about me?”
She hadn’t expected that, he could tell.
“Well, of course”, she didn’t meet his eyes anymore, walking backwards to the doors, “You’re together all the time, there’s no story without you in it anymore.”
That wasn’t what he had meant and he knew that she knew that. But she didn’t let anything slip out, probably for the same reason he kept his mouth shut – to respect Izuku’s privacy.
“See you around”, she said, opening the door, “If you need anything, just reach out. Everyone cares for you and would be-“
“I get it”, he cut her off, lifting his hand, “Thanks, Round face.”
She chuckled at that. “Thought you’d call me by my name from now on, as you did in the battlefield.”
Katsuki huffed at that, rolling his eyes. “I just couldn’t remember your Hero name”, he said, putting on a little smirk to let her know he was joking.
She grinned back, waving before leaving the room.
Katsuki sighed as silence wrapped itself around him, reaching for his phone to make a phone call.

Izuku wasn’t able to stay focused enough to listen to his mother, who was visiting him to eat dinner with him. Which made him feel guilty, since she had a rough day at work, he could tell, but she still made time for him, so he should at least listen to her!
But Katsuki still hadn’t answered or had reached out to him whatsoever and Izuku was just freaked out.
Had he finally chased him away? Did he make him feel so uncomfortable that Katsuki didn’t want to have anything to do with him? Was Izuku too much for Katsuki, was he finally fed up? Maybe being the person Izuku was most afraid of losing wasn’t something he wanted to be and-
“Izuku?”
“Hmm?”, he looked at his mom, “I’m sorry, what? I got distracted.”
“It’s okay”, she said, “What were you thinking about?”
Izuku felt himself grow anxious. “Nothing”, he said.
His mother smiled at him but looked worried nonetheless.
“Well, I’m glad you decided to meet up with a therapist and I’m also happy the doctors found out your headache is a normal side effect of this villain’s quirk and that it will wear off soon.”
“Yeah”, Izuku whispered, taking a bite of his meal.
The villain hadn’t been very cooperative about the information regarding his quirk. But the police apparently had offered him some kind of deal and he had told them everything about how they had planned this massive attack and also gave some information about his quirk away.
How it worked – by touch or through eye contact. How long it was normally active – around 3 hours. How headache and nausea were common side effects, mostly due to the enormous stress of a having a panic attack for several hours straight. And that he knew of two people who had killed themselves while having those traumatic responses.
Izuku clenched his fists at that thought.
This was truly one of the most powerful quirks one could think of. It was offensive since a person in that state wasn’t able to fight anymore but it was also perfect for obtaining information.
And for wrecking relationships, he thought bitterly.

Katsuki was at his apartment, eating the food he had made for himself, but he couldn’t enjoy it.
His mind was still stuck on his conversation with Round face and how defensive she had acted when he asked her about Izuku and whether or not he talked about him.
Once again – it got him hoping.
But his hope made him feel restless at the same time. Because even if Izuku might have similar feeling for Katsuki – did that really mean they had a future?
Sure, Katsuki wanted nothing more than that but they were partners, after all, dating would make everything so much more complicated. And even if they would get past that, there was still their past and how Katsuki didn’t deserve this ridiculous kindhearted person and how they triggered each other, constantly worrying about each other.
He sighed.
Katsuki felt lost, not knowing what to do.
But he knew that if he would tell his friends about it, they would tell him that he was just lying to himself and that he was just scared and wanted things to stay the way they were, because that’s how everything had worked out pretty damn fine for the last couple of years.
And they would be right.
But…
The sound of an incoming message interrupted his train of thoughts
His stomach dropped when he read Izuku’s name on the screen.
He swallowed hard. He hadn’t texted or called the nerd, too scared to confront him in any way.
He was such a jerk.
His fingers were trembling when he opened the message.
Hey Kacchan, Izuku had texted him, I was wondering how your day was? I heard you called my mom? You could’ve also called me.
Katsuki was hyper stressed out, suddenly it became hard so breathe.
The hoping, the circling thoughts, the hoping, the guilt, the fucking hoping! Everything had tired him out and facing Izuku right now was one of the hardest things he could think of.
I didn’t want to wake you in case you were sleeping, he texted back, not lying but not telling the whole truth of him being terrified either, My day was okayish. Glad your headache is just a normal shitty side effect.
Okayish – again, something Katsuki didn’t want to lie about, so he didn’t. He just wouldn’t tell him the whole truth about smoking up the training hall, almost passing out and all that stuff.
Thanks, me too, Izuku replied, ‘Okayish” doesn’t sound too good. Are you resting properly? And you wouldn’t have woken me up and even if, I wouldn’t have cared.
Katsuki closed his eyes, feeling even worse. Izuku was in the damn hospital, recovering from a trauma-quirk-attack, probably nervous about the therapy session tomorrow Inko had told him about and Katsuki avoided him at all cost. Even calling Inko, listening to her teary voice explaining how Izuku was getting better and that even though it was only a rather slow improvement that it was perfectly normal, considering the quirk at work and how he had finally decided to give therapy a shot – something Katsuki would only believe after Izuku had actually attended it.
Katsuki had felt a thousand pounds lighter. And yet, he didn’t tell Izuku how relieved he was, sincerely asking him about his wellbeing, still running away from him.
He was the worst.
He heard another message coming in.
I would’ve liked it, actually.
Katsuki blinked a few times. Did he just-
I would’ve liked to hear your voice, tbh.
Katsuki whole stomach was on fire. He could just stare at the message.
The hoping, the hoping, the hoping, the…
Guilt.
Katsuki clicked his tongue, tightening his grip around the phone, almost breaking it.
He was letting Izuku do all the work, he was aware of that. But meeting Izuku half way was just so fucking scary, Katsuki was already shaking just from the thought of it.
The sudden ringing of his phone startled Katsuki, making him jump to his feet. Should he just answer the nerd? What should he say and-
And then Katsuki saw the name on the screen.
“What is it?”, he answered, after taking in a few breaths to calm himself down.
“Hey!”, Kirishima exclaimed, “How are you, man? We’re all hanging out at Sero’s place, wanna swing by?”
Katsuki knew he had to deal with Izuku, had to deal with what the nerd had just texted him, how he felt about him and most importantly how Katsuki ended up to be the major object of his worst fear but – Katsuki really needed the company, maybe even some advice if he felt like it. But only if he felt like it.
“Bakugou?”
“Don’t ask me questions about the nerd, alright?”
“Gotcha!”, Kirishima said, sounding excited but earnest at the same time.
“I’ll be there in ten.”

“I’ll head home now, if that’s alright with you”, Izuku’s mother said, patting his hand.
She had stayed for a few hours, chatting with him whenever he was present enough to do so.
“Yeah sure, thanks mom, for visiting me!”, he leaned forward to hug her.
“Don’t thank me for that”, she smiled at him after he pulled back, “But let me ask you something: Is there something else going on besides the side effect of the quirk?”
Izuku had a hard time meeting her eyes because he didn’t want to lie to her. But he didn’t feel like opening up either.
He was scared of the therapy session. He really regretted agreeing to it. And he still felt embarrassed about his acting out and how it played all over the media.
But most of all…
“I miss Kacchan”, he whispered, “And I’m worried I’ve upset him with my breakdown.”
“Oh dear”, his mother brought her hand to his cheek, “I told you already, Katsuki-kun called me today, asking about you. And he didn’t sound upset at all. He seemed rather like he missed you too.”
Izuku swallowed hard, hating how that increased his headache.
“Then why didn’t he visit today?”
Inko let out a long deep breath. “I don’t know, Izuku. Maybe you ask him?”
Izuku shrugged and nodded at the same time, not wanting to admit that he already told Katsuki that he missed his voice, mustering all his courage for that one and that now, Katsuki wasn’t texting him back again.
Izuku felt miserable.
“Maybe I’ll try that, thanks”, he forced a smile, “But now get some rest, mom.”
She placed a kiss on top of his head and made him promise to call when he needed her.
As soon as she left the room, Izuku felt like he was about to crack. Just cracking open, letting everything out, every shaky breath, every stinging tear, every scream.
But then he reminded himself that he was at the hospital and he couldn’t disturb the other patients and the medical staff like that. He had to behave like a Hero, even now.
Only if he would feel like one, instead of that pathetic version of himself.
Katsuki didn’t reach out to him all day and now he wasn’t answering his texts and Izuku felt embarrassed out of his mind for sending that text and there was no use in deleting it because Katsuki had already seen it! And went offline the next second!
Izuku grunted in his hands, tossing in his bed.
He didn’t remember when he had felt this anxious in the last couple of months. Well, besides the quirk-attack probably but he didn’t remember that one, so…
Izuku had kept his feelings for Katsuki hidden, all those years. Also from himself for a significant amount of time, but there was no use of denying it anymore. At least not towards himself and not to his friends, who had suspected it for years by now.
But Katsuki was another story. Izuku didn’t want to ruin things between him and the blond. He was his childhood friend, his rival, his partner and they had gone through hell to reach the point they were at now.
Izuku didn’t want to risk it.
So why had he written this message?!
Oh my god, he thought, his breath speeding up, I messed up. I lost him. For good this time.

Katsuki hadn’t expected his friends to really not ask him about Izuku but strangely enough they pulled themselves together.
Either because they didn’t want to be blown up into pieces or they saw just how gutted Katsuki felt and that he was in no state to just chat about it.
He had told them, how Izuku was doing of course, keeping them up to date. Izuku was their friend too after all and they were worried sick for him.
They had played some card game with the most ridiculous rules Kaminari for sure had just made up and now they were just kind of hanging out, now and then someone said something, showing something on their phone while music was playing in the background.
It turned out to be Katsuki’s worst nightmare, because now he had time to think again and was low key panicking what he should answer the nerd. He had left him on read for too long already, but his stomach was hurting way too bad to come up with anything.
“Yo, Blasty.”
Katsuki snapped out of his thoughts and looked over to where Pinky was sitting. They had all squeezed onto Sero’s couch.
“Hmm?”, Katsuki lifted his chin, signaling her to go on.
“You’re mumbling.”
Shit.
Holy shit!
“For fuck’s sake”, he growled, rolling his eyes, “The nerdiness is contagious.”
The others chuckled at that.
“Don’t worry”, Kaminari said, “You’ve always been kind of a nerd.”
Katsuki scuffed. Just thinking about his All Might Action Card was enough to shut his denials down.
“So…”, Kirishima started with a way too sincere look on his face, “You were mumbling something about Midoriya?”
Katsuki clicked his tongue and looked away from them, feeling embarrassed and worried that his face might flush.
It wasn’t like he didn’t trust these guys, even if he wouldn’t admit it to them but he just didn’t know where to start in all of this mess.
“I mean, you love him, right?”
“What?”, Katsuki swirled his head to look at Mina who had asked the question.
Now he was definitely blushing.
“Don’t sweat”, Sero said, standing up from the couch to charge his phone, “We know.”
Katsuki grumbled at that, rubbing his eyes.
What a shitshow.
“Well, thanks for letting me know”, Katsuki said after a while.
They all gave him a crooked smile and it somehow warmed Katsuki up from the inside out.
“Okay”, he let out a deep breath, “Then I guess, I can just dive right in.”
How they were looking at him, expecting looks on their faces, eyes wide like their eyeballs were about to pop out. He would have laughed at their dumb faces if he hadn’t been so stressed out.
“He…”, Katsuki shrugged, “He kind of sends me signals and, I guess, I don’t know how to deal with that.”
A long silence followed after that.
Katsuki felt himself grow irritated immediately. They were just dumbfoundedly staring at him.
“What?!”, he said between gritted teeth.
“Like”, Kaminari said, “Like, you mean, he’s been sending you signals for ages now, right?”
Katsuki frowned. “No, I mean, since the attack, he-“
Their eyes went even bigger.
“Shit, bro”, Kaminari looked at him as if he was almost pitying him, “Where did you have your eyes all these years? I thought only on Midoriya but somehow you didn’t see him at all, did you?”
Katsuki swallowed hard.
The hoping, oh, that fucking hoping.
“Like what?”, he asked.
He needed to know. He needed to know what he had forbid himself to see all this time.
“Pff”, Kaminari shook his head, “Freaking everything!”
The others nodded eagerly.
“Like, come on now”, Sero said, “just looking at the first and second year of UA and how he acted out, only when it was about you. His reaction to you getting kidnapped… man, I swear”, Sero shook his head, “We were far off from where you guys were but Midoriya’s scream and howling frightened the living shit out of me.”
Again, agreeing nods.
Katsuki’s stomach twisted.
You’ll leave a corpse behind, Shigaraki’s words echoed in Katsuki’s head from their second battle, I’m sure it’ll make for a lovely present. Judging by how enraged he became when I skewered you last time.
Katsuki had made himself believe that Izuku would have reacted in all those situations for anybody in the exact same way. That it hadn’t been about him at all.
This got him hoping once again, but it nagged at him too. He didn’t want Izuku to feel all of that negative stuff because of him.
“And”, Pinky went on, “just everything about his mannerism around you, how he beams and all that stuff you would call sappy and I guess, that’s fine. It’s not like you’re being so much more subtle.”
Katsuki felt like cold water had been splashed into his face.
“Hmm?”, he meant to sound challenging but it was just a husky sound.
“You let him get away with just everything, Bakugou”, Kirishima laughed, “And I don’t mean calling you Kacchan, which is cute though!”
Katsuki rolled his eyes.
“But I mean, like everything from getting you to cook for him every other day to getting you to act more polite. I mean, you’re like…”, he shrugged, at a loss of words.
“Basically, like an old married couple”, Kaminari concluded and Kirishima gave him a thumbs up.
The hoping. The feeling crawled in every cell of Katsuki’s body, making him feel giddy.
So there was a reason to hope. But there was also a reason for his guilt.
“And yes, Midoriya always went out for you”, Sero added, as if reading Katsuki’s mind, “but you did the same, you took very good care of his safety back in school and now too, even of his eating and sleeping habits. I know you two have history und you can’t let go of it for some reason when Midoriya already did. Just don’t take that opportunity away from you, man. Just don’t.”
Katsuki clenched his fists.
“He’d find someone else. Someone nicer.”
At least five people among their colleagues and former classmates came instantly to his mind that adored the greenhead and have wanted to get into his pants forever. People who wouldn’t snarl at interviewers or the PR-mangers at the agency. Who would fucking answer his damn texts.
“But he doesn’t want to!”, Mina let out a frustrated growl, “I mean, sure, I can’t speak on his behalf but don’t you take that decision away from him!”
Katsuki closed his eyes.
Mina was right. Letting Izuku have a say in all of this before Katsuki just decided to turn his back on their… their relationship – in what sense ever – was the absolute least. It was the base line, to be precise.
His heart was hammering in his chest, he realized. It almost hurt.
“Scared as shit, guys, I swear, I’m not built for this”, he admitted after a long moment of silence.
“Yeah, you are, built for it, that is.”, Sero disagreed, “You just don’t have a lot of practice.”
Katsuki nodded at that. Couldn’t fight with that.
He opened his mouth to say something, yet another doubt, another counterargument, another fear he wished they would reason away, but before he could make a single sound, his phone started ringing.
Katsuki reached out for it, scared of seeing Izuku’s name on the screen but when he recognized the hospital’s number, he felt more than just scared.
“Bakugou?”, Kaminari had placed his hand on his shoulder, “Are you alright?”
“Don’t know”, he whispered, pressing the green button, “Hello?”
He felt nauseous, scared of bad news about Izuku, some complications or shit like hat.
“Good evening, Bakugou-san”, a soft voice spoke from the phone and even before the person introduced herself, Katsuki recognized her as Izuku’s doctor.
“Is something wrong with him?”, he couldn’t help to interrupt her.
His friends were staring at him, worry on their faces and Kaminari even strengthened his grip on Katsuki’s shoulder.
The doctor sighed and Katsuki’s heart ached.
“He’s not getting his full rest, to be honest, and that’s the one thing he needs right now.”
“Is he”, Katsuki felt his face turn grim, “wandering off or something like that?”
He would kill the nerd. He would straight up knock him out if that was the only way of getting this stubborn-
“No, that’s not the problem. Well, rather, it’s emotional drain that’s slowing his recovery down.”
Katsuki felt his mouth growing dry. “What drain exactly?”
You coward, he told himself, You damn well know which fucking drain!
“Well, his monitoring results suggest that he is in a chronic state of stress, he sure seems anxious. Bakugou-san”, her voice turned determined, “I don’t want to cross a line here and I don’t know what happened between you and Midoriya-san but I think that seeing you would change his state for sure.”
Katsuki’s heart missed a beat.
“I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
“Great. I’ll let the guard know to let you through. It’s already past visiting hours.”
Bakugou huffed. “Thanks, doc.”
“Of course. Be safe.”
Katsuki hung up and looked at the others.
“Is he okay?”, Sero asked.
“Say he’s okay, please”, Kaminari brought his hands to his face, “I just can’t with him, why is he always getting in so much trouble.”
Katsuki grumbled at that. “Cause he’s on top of the game, that’s why. Gets the heaviest opponents, and shitty villains target him the most.”
He knew that the same applied to him. But not in the exact same way, he was still a few steps behind the greenhead, maybe he always would be. But instead of being infuriated as before, Katsuki felt motivated. Frustrated at times, maybe, but motivated nonetheless.
“Spit it out, you’re scaring me!”, Mina urged it.
Oh, shit.
“He’s not feeling so good right now”, he tried to avoid details, “But all in all he’s okay, on the way to recovery, don’t worry, just as I told you earlier.”
They all loosened up, sighing in relief.
“But I’ll get going”, Katsuki stood up from the couch, “Gotta meet him halfway, right?”
He smirked at their smiley faces and stary eyes.
“Get your man!”, Kirishima grinned at him.
Yeah. He would.

Izuku focused on his breathing but it didn’t help.
His stomach ached, his chest felt tight, his arms and legs were tingling and his breathing just wouldn’t calm down.
And the tears. Those annoying tears that wouldn’t stop escaping the corner of his eyes.
Everything just hurt.
He would end up having to deal with questions about his breakdown for months, every interview would be just about how he had thrown himself on Katsuki and he couldn’t bare it, not if this incident had made Katsuki distance himself from Izuku.
A sob escaped his mouth and the backlash just made Izuku’s head feel like bursting open.
He just wanted to sleep, was that too much to ask for?
He also wanted Katsuki right by his side, his hand in his own but he knew that that would be too much to ask, so he didn’t even dare think of it, but sleep?
Why wasn’t he allowed to sleep?
Izuku sniffled, wiping his tears away although new ones were already dripping from his lashes.
When he heard a sound from the door, he turned his face more into the pillow, so the nurse wouldn’t have to deal with that wretched sight of him.
But the person approaching just stopped right before Izuku’s bed, not doing or saying anything.
After a few seconds, Izuku dared to take a glance and was struck.
“Ka-Kacchan?”, he stuttered.
Maybe he was hallucinating.
While he considered the chances of this being just an illusion, he registered Katsuki’s shiny eyes.
“Kacchan”, Izuku sat up in alarm, “Are you crying?”
“Tch”, Katsuki sniffled, shaking his head in disbelief, “You’re one to talk, nerd.”
Izuku huffed, wiping his eyes once again.
A few seconds of silence went by. The air was tense.
Izuku’s heart was making funny things. Beating fast at the sight of Katsuki but throbbing painfully at the memory of his breakdown and Katsuki’s reaction to it or rather his lack of reaction.
“Just fucking hate seeing you like this”, Katsuki broke the silence and stepped closer, moving the chair up to the head of Izuku’s bed, so he could sit directly next to Izuku, face to face.
Izuku could just stare at Katsuki while he moved, sat down and then – Izuku’s breath hitched – leaned forwards, placing a hand on Izuku’s cheek.
“I’m sorry I’m late”, Katsuki whispered and a shiver run down Izuku’s spine.
Izuku closed his eyes, squeezing fresh tears out of his eyes.
“Mean, Kacchan”, he said, “Letting me wait like that, I thought you were done with me.”
That’s when Katsuki leaned his forehead against Izuku’s, their noses almost touching.
“I’m so sorry. I fucked up”, his voice broke, “I will never be done with you, I never could. I’m sorry to make you think that.”
Izuku couldn’t believe this was happening.
Katsuki was so close!
Sure, they still needed to talk about all of this and what it meant but as long as Katsuki was this close, reassuring him not to leave him, he would be fine.
“Make it up to me, then”, Izuku managed to smile.
“Gotcha”, Katsuki promised, making it sound like an oath.

- Can I request an angst to fluff/romance scenario with bakugo & deku? Something along the lines of the reader ( fem/afab! please ) who has had a crush on bakugo for the longest and he has always chose to ignore her no matter how obvious reader makes it. And when she finally gets the courage to ask him out he turns her down ( rather harshly ) but luckily sweet deku is there to comfort her and she realizes izu is what she needed the whole time, and now bakugo is seeing what he has missed out on by letting her get away! Now he has to watch as his childhood rival gets the one thing he could’ve had :( The timeline can be within their pro hero/ adult days
Bakugou has come such a long way in the manga and he probably wouldn’t turn someone down this harshly, but I like a bit of a dramatic flair so here we are. It also ended up being pretty damn long, and I would like to give you warning for alcohol use
You had had a crush on Bakugou ever since you were in UA together, and even now that Bakugou, you and Midoriya were working at the same agency, your feelings hadn’t changed.
You had been friends with the two for years even before coming to UA. You’d develop a crush on Bakugou, but he never seemed to notice, no matter how obviously you tried to express your feelings. Sure you’d never outright said it to his face, but you didn’t think he was that willfully ignorant about it.
You were going to go for some drinks to a bar with Midoriya and Bakugou that night and you were pretty nervous. You had decided you would finally tell Bakugou how you felt about him. You’d been putting it off for so long, for reasons you weren’t even really sure about.
Midoriya was the first one at the bar, you were second and Bakugou arrived a bit later.
“Hey (Name)!” Midoriya greeted you excitedly and the two of you sat down at the booth.
“You seem a bit nervous, is everything okay?” he asked when you started fiddling with your thumbs.
“Yeah, I’m fine, just a bit nervous about tonight” you sighed, looking down at the table.
“What’s so special about tonight?” Midoriya inquired.
“Well nothing, at least not yet”
“Hey extras” Bakugou greeted with his usual, aggressive tone.
“Kacchan, you’re late” Midoriya chastised your friend.
“Hi” you muttered.
Bakugou sat next to Midoriya, opposite you. The evening went well, you had a lot of fun and at the end of the night you were a bit buzzed. Not drunk by any means, but feeling pleasantly warm and fuzzy.
Midoriya went to pay the bill for all of your drinks and food, while you and Bakugou stepped outside. The alcohol had given you the courage to say what you wanted to say, and since the night was coming to an end now was your last chance.
“Hey Bakugou?” you asked.
“Yeah?” he said, looking at the stream of people passing in front of you on the street.
“I don’t know if you knew this, but… I have a huge crush on you. I’ve had one ever since we were at UA together, and I just really wanna know if you feel the same”
“Tsk” Bakugou scoffed. “You’re a friend, but I really don’t like you like that”
You felt crushed, but you kept your composure and said: “Oh okay”
Midoriya came outside just seconds later and the two of you said goodbye to Bakugou, since he lived in a different direction to the two of you.
“Are you okay? You seem upset” Midoriya asked after a while of walking.
“Yeah, I’m fine” you sniffled and tried to walk ahead of Midoriya.
He grabbed your hand, which made you stop on your tracks.
“I know you have a crush on Kacchan, is that what this is about? Did he turn you down?”
“Ha” you scoffed with a sad tone. “More like shot me down”
“I’m sorry if he was harsh”
“Why are you sorry, it’s not like any of this is your fault. I’m the one who’s sorry, sorry for ever thinking he could like me back. Maybe I’m an idiot, I don’t know” you sniffled, trying to keep yourself together.
“You know what? We’re gonna go to my place and we’re gonna talk until you feel at least a little bit better” Midoriya said and started walking, pulling you along with him.
You complied, because that sounded like a good idea, a really good idea.
You talked for hours, about your days at UA, about all the stuff that had gone down back then and everything that had led you to this point in your lives. You also drank a bit more, again, enough to get a bit drunk. Which probably contributed to what you ended up doing.
“Hey Izuku?” you asked.
“Hmm?”
“Do you like me?” you asked, taking another sip of your drink.
“Why-why would you ask me that?” he questioned awkwardly.
“I don’t know, I guess I just want to know if there’s something wrong with me for people not to like me”
“Truth be told (Name)... I’ve had a crush on you for years, but I knew you liked Kacchan, so I never said anything”
“Do you want to kiss me?” you asked with a smirk, leaning forward towards him on the couch.
“Kiss-kiss you?!” Midoriya asked, growing increasingly redder.
“Yes kiss me” you said and leaned even closer.
Midoriya could feel your breath on his cheek and he really wanted to kiss you, he really did, but he felt like you weren’t sober enough to make sound decisions. He didn’t want you to do anything you would regret later.
“(Name), if you still feel like you want me to kiss you tomorrow, after you’ve sobered up, I will. For right now though, I’m gonna take this away from you” he said and took the cider can off your hands.
“Come on, Izuku” you purred, but he didn’t give in.
“I think it’s time for both of us to get some rest, you can sleep in my bed, I’ll take the couch” Midoriya said.
“At least carry me to bed?” you smirked tiredly.
Midoriya sighed, but complied with your request anyway. He picked you up and you interlocked your fingers behind his neck, leaning your head against his chest. He set you down on the bed and you snuggled your face into the pillow, while Midoriya pulled the covers over you.
“Smells nice” you muttered. “Smells like Izu”
Midoriya couldn’t help but blush a little. He grabbed himself a blanket and a pillow and went to sleep on the couch.
He did indeed get to kiss you the next day, and the day after that and the day after that. You and Midoriya started dating, and you realized he was just what you needed. You didn’t really see Bakugou outside of work for a while, but after a few months of dating, you and Midoriya decided to set up a meeting at the same bar you went to last time.
Bakugou had been a bit peeved after your confession. He wasn’t really sure why, he just knew that there was something bothering him. He saw how happy you and Midoriya were together, and it irritated him. Not the fact that you were happy, but that you were happy together. Bakugou felt like he had missed out on something by not reciprocating your feelings when you had made them known to him. So when he met the two of you at the bar, he was annoyed and snappy the whole evening.
“What’s up with you today?” you asked Bakugou, when Midoriya went to go to the bathroom.
“What the fuck does that mean?” Bakugou asked.
“That, you’ve been snappy all evening, even more so than normal” you said with an eye roll.
“It’s none of your business” Bakugou scoffed.
“I’m still your friend, you can talk to me” you said.
“That’s just fuckin it. I don’t want you to be my friend, I want something more” Bakugou growled and slammed his hand on the table.
You were stunned into silence. Now he wanted to date you? When you were happy with someone else?
“You’re a bit too late with that” you said, not really believing what you were hearing. “I’m happy with Izuku, I’m not gonna leave him just because you changed your mind”
“But-” Bakugou started.
“No buts, you had your chance, and you shot me down, so you don’t get to tell me what you want. I don’t owe you anything”
“Is everything okay?” Midoriya asked as he came back to the booth.
“Yeah, everything’s fine, I just remembered I have somewhere to be” Bakugou said and got up.
“Oh, well, see you later then” Midoriya said as Bakugou walked past him to the counter to pay.
“Is he okay?” Midoriya asked.
“He will be, eventually” you muttered.
You grabbed Midoriya’s hand and kissed the back of his palm. You felt a bit weird about what Bakugou had told you, but like you had told him, you were happy with Izuku, and you didn’t want that to ever change.
