some tavs have greatness thrust upon them, some durges couldn't avoid the call of their fate, but out of all my ocs lorelai is the one who was just always going to end up in a situation like this. she was always going to attract the attention of the gods, she probably would've had multiple devils and warlock patrons making her offers even if she was still a courtesan in athkatla. she's just that girl. cunning, powerful, intelligent...
#i constantly think about switching her bt sorcerer and wizard it bothers me all the time lol#partially bc i just don't like playing bg3 as a sorcerer as much#sorc obviously makes way more sense with warlock and the charisma casting is rly good for her#but like she's just such a wizard with her obsessive intellectualism and research and pursuit of knowledge and ambition#ugh idfk i wanted her to be a wizard/warlock originally w a quasit familiar#but iggwilv is her patron and iggwilv is literally a wizard w a quasit familiar so i was like too on the nose? or cute idk#and everyone is so extra about NOT-MAXIMAL MULTICLASSING when u look it up it discouraged me#anyway basically i go in circles ab wizard vs sorc for lorelai all the time#lush.talk#oc: lorelai zoar

Alrighty got my concepts for my new dnd character now just to actually figure out how the fuck hexblade warlocks work </3
#rat rambles#oc posting#one of my partymembers played a hexblade warlock for the last lil bit of out last campain so ig I can cross reference him a lil bit#obviously not a lot since he was a Much higher levek than my boy will be fjfndjdh#Im gonna wait to rly get to sheet creation until out session zero tho since our dm wants to wait til then to rly go over stuff#like stat rolling and such#I hope we roll for stats I dont like standard array or point buy dnfnfjfnd#itd be fine if we did one of those two but Id rather not#I think we rolled for our last characters so I dont see why theyd change that for this so ya#and I think we started with a feat last time too so I should probably brainstorm ideas for if we get one again#I know I should probably do one of the combat related ones but also thats boringgggggg#I do know I might go for a kinda more defensive build since my party is likely gonna be. not very bulky lol#which is funny since Im playing a 16 yr old kitty cat gndkrndjd#hes gonna have tboy swag (cringe) and also mommy issues <3#sometimes you end up helping a morally questionable magic bread knife under the promise of free testosterone#Im not entirely sure what voice Im gonna do for him since Im not sure if I wanna lean more into tired subway worker or service voice#I also need to draw him at some point but at least I have a pretty clear image in my head for him#hes gonna be an orange boy :3#and yes his name is gonna be jonny I think Im set on that

wanted to make another post about warlock and titan culture so here's to warlocks!!!
thinking very hard about silent wings in the tower bc warlocks have claimed them for meditation and study groups
they share more in common with hunters than titans i think, like warlocks are also superstitious and tend to say things like "the light works in mysterious ways" when things go wrong or when they don't understand something (which isn't often)
they're a lot more likely to go with their hearts rather than their heads when it comes down to it despite their scholarly reputation, and the more practical and pragmatic titans sort of look down on them for it
having their heads in the clouds constantly is just so. idk. human to me? they're rly smart and read up on theory but they r daydreamers!!!!! they're in tune with the universe and everything around them more so than the other two classes and that's so cute to me i love that
i feel like warlocks or warlock adjacent sorts are most likely to be speakers bc they're so deeply connected to the Light and therefore would show up brighter in the travelers constellation so to speak
i feel like they're super good at coming up with plans but struggle to practically apply their skills bc they only rly know stuff In Theory
destiny class culture is so cute and special to me

👁️👁️ can you drop the Dante meta design lore :3
ERMMM yes I can 👀💕
hi tumblr, you don't know who Dante is yet but you're about to!!
Extremely brief overview for anyone who doesn't know: Dante Inferno (they/he) is my drow fathomless warlock, pirate captain, and awful babygirl who wants the world to burn. Dante took on their warlock pact to get power and bring suffering to those who wronged them and hopefully find the daughter that was stolen from them many years ago. However, this pact comes at a price... it's actually Dante's misery that the patron is most interested in. 🥀 They may be in too deep to figure this out though!! For years, they've been self-destructing and falling deeper into corruption... and are quickly hurtling towards a future where they may be left with nothing of who they once were.
Anyways!! This corruption is represented heavily within their design!! This is most apparent with their tattoos, which reflect how much power/abilities Dante has accrued. Their body itself serves as their warlock tome.
📌 Each of their "tattoos" are actually scars that Dante has left on their own body, carved into the skin by ritual dagger, to imbue their body with power. The scars have blackened as though frostbitten, but this is more for visual effect.
Here's what each tattoo symbolizes:
(LEFT ARM) Abyssal/Deep Speech Runes: Each symbol correlates to a different spell ability that they’ve been provided by their patron. Spells like Eldritch Blast, Hex, Cause Fear.
(RIGHT ARM) Sea-Serpent: This is their summons arm! Dante, as a warlock, tends to lean more into the control + summoner type! This arm corresponds to their ability to summon different abyssal/deep sea entities to assist them in battle. Spells include: Evard's Black Tentacles, Summon Undead, Tentacle of the Deep (ability).
Back Tattoo: These deep speech/abyssal runes spell out the word TREACHERY. It was carved into their skin by their patron and represents the abilities granted by their Eldritch Invocations.
(Back of) Neck Tattoo: A marking left by the Spider Queen when Dante made an agreement with her. YEP! They've made two deals with different demonic entities. This tattoo basically represents her eyes at the back of her neck. (I can explain their pact with her but. that's for another post FSGHSJ)
Gills: The first marks they carved into their body when they took on their pact. This gives them the permanent ability to breathe underwater.
X on chest: This one actually isn't related to their warlock abilities at all. It's actually a promise they made to their daughter... to find her again. X marks the spot. (They had cut an X into her cheek when they were separated so that they'd be able to recognize her in the future. So much more to say abt this but that's the gist!)
They were going to keep gaining more marks as the campaign went on longer... And eventually, the tips of their extremities were going to begin to blacken from all of the corrupt power they were storing!
📌 Also, fun fact for you, Tooth! Dante was eventually going to take the Eldritch Invocation that would allow them to send messages to others by writing on their skin. They were going to have some of the Bleeding Hearts carve their names onto their body so they could do that :3
And for the rest of the meta design lore, I'll also put those into bullet points for ease:
Their eyes have split heterochromia (red and blue halves in both iris) and slit pupils. The heterochromia was brought on by their pact and just kinda gives them a rly freaky look!
They've usually always got some spider motifs on em,, they have an extremely complicated relationship w the Spider Queen and their identity as a drow. But we can also say that it's just because the spider motif drip goes hard.
This isn't smth that can be reflected in art easily but their skin is COLD to the touch! Warmth no longer feels the same to them anymore.
#the askerrr#kara oc#oc dante#dante meta#kara rambles#hiii tooth thanks for unlocking the dante vault ADFSGHJD#this guy makes me INSANE!!!! there are so many things WRONG WITH HIM#i have so much dante art to upload here; it's gonna take a hot minute to catch tumblr up to speed adfghdj#they defo have one of the most involved backstories#there are THEMES!!! there is SYMBOLISM!! not to mention how much happened in the campaign that just compounded this#long post

i’ve said this before but EA wyll gifsets—including some of his most arrogant cut lines, his attitude toward goblins, and the vibe that he might be a simple monster hunter faking at being a folk hero—are what made me want to play bg3, so sanding down his sharp edges to appease players who were never going to favor the Black companion rly puzzles me as a marketing decision. i was actually excited that (with all my love to preston & liam) bg3 seemed to promise a Black man companion/LI with a role more thorny & complex than “good-natured community man.” it’s not like i don’t find him compelling now, but like. i knew nothing about their game except that u could woo the warlock, and larian had me at “im one of a kind >;)”
DAE download the game because of him can we talk about it

hello! i rly loved adam warlock in gotg 3 :D rly want to get to know his character a lot more in comics
hehehehe yesss I highly recommend it >:))) I have a reading order right over here that you can use as a guide! It's old and I'm planning on updating it soon but everything important is on there <3
Warlock by Jim Starlin is the best place to start (and my fave comic ever) imo but Adam is honestly very easy to read for because you can just ignore every comic that isn't by Starlin, except the Annihilation saga/Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 by Abnett and Lanning which are also very good. :)
#I'm happy to help feel free to hmu if you have any questions 🧡#anonymous#adam warlock#guardians of the galaxy#putting it in the general tag too in case you mcu fans are curious.

My fave nat 20 moments (part 1)
our team was in a big town. one of our friends had died and we were there to report it to his parents. My human monk feral daughter liked him a lot, so she wasn't in a great mood. the town had this shady district, and our dumbass warlock tiefling, stranger to the world, got curious and went over there. On the edge of the shady district, there was a kobold. he was pretty creepy and pushy, trying to sell our warlock drugs. She was creeped out and fled. My monk followed to get her princess ass back, passed the same kobold, got annoyed with him, but passed him in favor of finding out lost princess.
returning back there with said warlock, we once again saw the kobold, our DM doing some skit of how annoying this guy was. Warlock girl was scared of him, so my monk about had it. some days before, our now dead friend was chased by guards and we had to hide him. my monk has an 11 charisma, so despite believing she might, seduction failed on both the guys. Hurt in her pride, she took some potatoes from a barrel and tossed them at the guards. in this process, she stashed some potatoes in her bag.
So there my monk was, a creepy drugseller, a scared best friend, tired of a long day angsting in our dramatic campaign. so naturally, she took out a potato and threw it at the kobold to make him back off.... 'roll to hit', our DM said. 'Nat 20', I replied in bafflement to waste a 20 on some street kobold.
the kobold was bleeding from the head. mad as hell. called out his gang of fellow street kobolds to fight us. We were just with the 2 of us, level 3, she had just gotten her astral arms. inexperienced players, we didn't really know how to go about these random battles yet. So we killed the reinforcement kobolds (something I found out later would be our modus operati. our warlock is now known as the child killer) Drug kobold escaped, we thought we'd seen the last of him.
I kinda apologized to the team for my nat 20, having started a fight like that. and the session went on. Some time later, my monk was walking around town with our new bard/warlock human/tiefling (yes, that's one person. his previous character died at level 2 and so he wanted to make the DM suffer... (we get rly attached to our characters, really fast, really easy)) DM asks the 2 of us to throw a random perception. we both suck. Before we know it, we're both surrounded in a surprise attack by like 6 kobolds. we both go K.O., get kidnapped, the rest has to come safe us. in the kobold hide out, stuff was dark, so some had disadvantage on attacks and we really had to fight hard to survive. more kobolds died. drug kobold escaped again.
MONTHS LATER, a friend of ours joined the campaign, playing a cute little paladin...... a kobold paladin OuO and we found out that he was the brother of drug kobold (drug kobold's name was now Sticks) Finding it hilarious that he had become part of someone's background now, we moved on. EVEN LATER, we find out that our dear little drugselling tramp Sticks had joined the villains organization... worked his way up to high ranks... and was very much out for our lives, even if it included his baby brother..... BECAUSE I HAD THROWN A POTATO TOO HARD!! (and consequently murdered out his gang, but who's keeping track, really?)
So next time you decide to swing a potato at some enemy, do consider: am I prepared for this random field battle to become my lifelong nemesis?

Hi idk if you still wants questions BUT hi I have uhm. 3 for your bg3 OCS (your bg1 ocs name is blanking me but them too if u want!)
1) Post game, do any of them become parents?
2) Post game, what do they up to before the epilogue?
3) What is their weapon of choice? Have they named it?
HELLO...IM ALWAYS TAKING QUESTIONS. smiles. thank u for these. :-)
1) I've actually thought abt this for judith and lophi, mostly! (other two can be summarized in "would not trust themselves to be good parents or just simply do not care abt having children")
while judith wouldn't have any biological children (too afraid of the whole bhaalspawn thing, for the childs sake more than his own), and I don't think he'd ever think abt kids while being with xan, I can imagine really farther down the line him possibly adopting a child, as a fun little full circle moment. (I've also thought abt the au concept of him adopting a baby dark urge, but uh, lord knows if I'll ever do anything w the concept) the one thing that'd stop him is the thought he will most likely live to see his own ward die given his long elf lifespan.
as for lophi... wyll canonically does want kids, and I can see her enthusiastically wanting to adopt w him!! I'm not at the end of the game yet so I don't have a set in stone ending for them in my mind Yet (it's easier to figure out these things w judith given the first two game plots are a bit more linear) but yeah LOL, I can also see her adopting. I'm not sure if she'd necessarily see herself as a Good parent, but I think she'd be a fun one.
skipping question two Unfortunately as I have not finished the game on any of my bg saves //hides head away in shame
3) Lophi uses the phalar aluve sword! it's led me to sort of have this whole thing between her and eilistraee, eilistraee's whole thing lines up PERFECTLY w lophi (+ my little hc of her being a sort of unofficial drow goddess of trans people) so I think eversince she's picked up the sword good ol eili has had her eye on her... and of course lophis a bard of swords, so a music themed sword is perfect for her.
Vyper doesn't have a signature weapon per se, I don't remember the in-game name but this one golden axe you get somewhere mid act 1 diiid serve as his main weapon for a long time, though. So I generally associate him with axes– and his signature weapon *pre-game* was an axe he'd stolen off the body of a paladin he murdered. never gave it a name though, maybe I should ...
Rubi is more one of theatrics rather than hand to hand combat, but when she has to resort to weapons she's good with daggers! I plan to build her as a roguelock since she already plays as a rogue when she isn't doing warlock-y stuff. For Lore reasons
for judith, again his weapon doesn't have a name (maybe I should rly start doing this..) but I imagine it's a shepherds crook staff he uses like a bō staff!! yknow to really put in the shepherd/sheep theme

I agree, not being able to reload takes such a weight off the shoulders! It also saves on space, my non-honor mode save files are huge and many & the load times are long as well. I've not gotten past act I in honor mode yet, but even then the load times are loads better!
I also have to keep myself from becoming overly attached to Halsin, because I've never done the portal fight on my 1st go and idk if I'll be successful in honor mode.
Ahh, I feel like cheesing the hag would take a weight off my shoulders, but I really want her hair to eat. Do you know if she still bargains with it if you fight her in her teahouse?
It was tactitian that taught me properly about the numbers of the game! And that reason is also why I think balaced is a tad too easy. Finished my 1st run in balanced in 200 hours, but only in tactician did I learn the numbers? That means I didn't NEED to learn them in normal mode, which just… the fighting is half of the game and it's so fun!!!
Bud. Pal. Random internet stranger. You know you can leave food in the camp chest & still be fine, yes? Because it does not sound like you know that. It says when you go to sleep that you'll only get a partial rest, but it's lying, Immediately after clicking accept, you see all your food items from your chest as well.
"getting rid of an entire boss fight early by simply getting other enemies to fight them" Ohh, this sounds interesting! What are you referring to here? And blocking off the Moonrise prison cell doors/gates with barrels so the prisoners can escape unscathed is my favorite cheese I came up with all by myself.
Were you able to save the gnome slaves in the aerial assault of the duergar?
Ayyy, a fellow Picks Everything Up person! I have fun with it, but I've found that it annoys people in coop because I take more time than them to consider myself finished with an area.
You don't have to disguise yourself as a drow to get through the goblin areas if you ARE a drow! :D It made for a memorable 1st playthrough. Racism from one group, reverence from another!
I am really really enjoying picking new classes in honor mode, actually. Because 1) it forces you to pay attention to the numbers and 2) like I mentioned before, trying them in easier modes means you don't have to & might end up not understanding what you're doing. My 1st go around, back in balanced, I simply never got the hang of Wyll, until I played a warlock in tactician and Had To or Die, lol. So far, due to honor mode, I've learned in depth about bards & thief rogues. I was SO sleeping on thief rogues before!
I'm having lots of fun with the Tavern Brawler Barbarian Throw build for Karlach myself rn! But I also rly wanted to try Wild magic barbarian, so Lae'zel earned herself a re-spec.
Why don't you wanna play your other games cuz you can't turn them honor? What part of honor mode has enchanted you so?
I do enjoy my other games but I am having a TON of fun with honor mode, mainly coming down to the following reasons:
- No reloading.
This has been my blessing and my curse. On the one hand, it makes battles WAY more fun because if they go south, I can't just press the magic undo key. It's changed my battle strategy when I lose from "just reload to before the battle" to "have someone escape and prepare to pickpocket Withers at camp," which is a lot more fun imo. It's also why I had so many problems with the phase spider matriarch and why Poetry is technically continuing with dishonor because I kept running away and leaving camp right back to the fight. (Which was my fault, I forgot you can use waypoints in camp)
It also means I don't have to worry about saving often anymore. No more backtracking more than expected because I forgot to save before or after an event, because I simply can't backtrack!
However this also causes a nightmare, if you fuck up and end up wiping out an entire town or giving a character a bad end on accident, you're stuck with that. I have figured out how to turn the tide in my favor for a lot of events, but for others, I am simply out of luck if I mess it up. Like triggering the Isobel kidnapping scene and not winning the fight, or if something happens to a future companion in a battle where they're an ally. You're just stuck with the consequences, which sucks SO much.
- the difficulty is kinda fun and adds new features to fights that freshens it up
I normally go through the game in balanced mode, because that feels just right for me, but I can't help but admit that the new attacks and enemy features of honor mode freshen up the game a lot more. Take the intellect devourer fight at the very beginning of the game when you pick up Shadowheart, I've done that fight so many times it's more of a chore that gets you to level up than anything else. In tactician mode, it's the same fight, but they hit harder. In honor mode??? Those fuckers got laser beams! That's new! That adds something that freshens up an old experience! I like that a lot!
Many fights are like that where an old fight I've already done at least 5 times feels new. Getting the owlbear fight out of the way? Now there's 2 owlbears, bitch. Does the hag have new attacks? I wouldn't know! I just cheese the fight by arcane locking the stairs to the lair when she first reveals herself.
It really adds a breath of fresh air, and it gets me to think a lot more about equipment, spells, battle strategies, classes, feats, and so on. Rather than simply brute forcing my way through and reloading until I win.
-food system
I understand this is just a general tactician mode change, but instead of 40 camp supplies, you need 80.
I tend to pick up any edible substance I can see anyways, leading to me having over 1,000 camp supplies sometimes. I have to constantly distribute supplies to other party members lest my player character have 70% of their inventory and ability to carry things be taken up by food. I am constantly juggling to make sure I don't become encumbered.
So, having that set to 80 instantly helps me cut down on food and has even caused a little challenge. Due to the difficulty of honor mode, I have to long rest more, which means I now ACTUALLY have to worry about camp supplies. There will be times were the party needs to rest but I don't have enough supplies so I need to either find something, or buy something.
I find the food management aspect really fun actually and it's very interesting to want to long rest only to realize you only have 18 supplies and need to scramble to get 62 more.
-gettin' funky with it
I think the biggest part I like about honor mode as well is that there are areas where you can't simply run away to camp if things go south. So the game constantly requires me to think outside of the box and get funky with it.
Things like using enemies as weapons against other enemies, making a healing circle in combat and throwing a potion down in the middle of it, getting rid of an entire boss fight early by simply getting other enemies to fight them, blocking off doorways with boxes or arcane lock, finding out that darkness is your friend it is SUCH a good spell.
It's REALLY fun to figure out wild solutions to get things done without risking the run ending. A dumb example was in grymforge! I wanted to get all the duegar out of the way before fighting Nere, so I did this by going to the upper platform hanging above the entrance of the main room, and using a berserker Karlach to start throwing things down. Most of the duegar were melee fighters so they would end up dashing around and missing turns, and those that could hit far were taken out first. I had potions lined up the wazoo and made shadowheart throw them on karlach when she got low on health, Astarion was sneak attacking, and Poetry (my durge bardlock) was inspiring Karlach and eldrich blasting.
It got even better because some enemies had javelins they would throw up, which meant that Karlach now had more Javelins to throw down.
It was a dumb battle that ended with a solid 8 turns of everyone wailing on the scrying eye hoping to damage it, because we ran out of thunder spells that could hurt it and most of our damage was negated most turns. It cried for help every time, but no help came.
But I had a ton of fun with it! It was a memorable fight! It wasn't like my first fight in my first playthrough where I had to keep reloading, I just got to win by standing up really high and making Karlach throw every Javelin I had found and gave her throughout the game and then some.
-it justifies my bad habits that make gamers cry
To the joy of all my friends, I have stopped using my inventory system I made up. I used to pick up every backpack and pouch I could find and sort everything into 4 bags in the order of: spell scrolls, drinkables, throwables, and coatables.
This kept everything nice and clean as most things outside of these bags either got a special bag (i.e story items or dye bottles) or just got to be sold. It was a little tedious to grab things during battle, but I used the custom page to make things easier. So it was only really a pain getting things out of someone else's inventory.
I have since found out that an auto sort by type button exists, and I can just use that instead. And that a search bar exists. It took until a friend pointed it out for me to realize this. So I stopped doing the bag system since I could simply throw the story items you can't sell into a backpack and just auto sort everything else.
Plus I used to have a treasure pouch I would sell, which is not necessary! That's what the 'add to wares' button is for! Whoopsie!
So, thankfully, for everyone, I stopped doing the backpack system...
However
I had also developed another habit around the same time I developed the backpack system. I was doing a challenge run where I dared myself to use every object I picked up no matter how useless, and it caused me to develop a habit that makes everyone who plays with me cry:
I press take all no matter what.
That's just how I close containers.
There's nothing that makes a friend playing with you cry more than an inventory full of useless garbage, and you keep picking up more garbage off the ground to mess with them.
In honor mode, the shop prices are HIGH. A 80 gp ring of flinging in balanced mode is over 200gp in honor mode. The gloves of missile snaring that are about 200 gp normally? Over 600gp. If you aren't planning on pickpocketting (which admittedly I am clearly under utilizing and I need to plan on pickpocketting more), you need a LOT of money to buy items you need.
You know what gets you a lot of money? Selling a metric fuckton of armor, weapons, rotten food, bones, and whatever other garbage you pick up!
Hell, if you even give some of these to shop keepers for free, they'll like you more and lower the prices!
So next time your friend yells at you for picking up all of the severed body parts you see in on the risen road, consider that each of those parts net you about 3 gold, and you need that bottle of light blue dye Dammon is selling.
- I want the achievement and the gold dice
I've been getting into achievement hunting and I really like how all of bg3 achievements are achievable through story beats or small fun actions, so I want the achievement. I'm already working on the second hardest one which is busking 100 gold, so I need the hardest one. Boost my ego. Plus I wanna see if it gets the tactician achievement out of the way as well.
Also yeah I want those gold dice lmao
So that's why I have only been playing honor mode lately. I still love those regular balanced games, and I will need to revisit my main game soon since I haven't beaten the game yet and have no idea what act 3 encounters there are, but I am having the time of my life with honor mode. The furthest I have gotten so far is right before the Nightsong and the assault on Moonrise Towers. I would be able to tell you how well that went if I didn't proceed to let my hubris get the better of me and mess up the last light Inn.
Anyways, I highly recommend trying honor mode! It really forces you to get into out of the box thinking and try some spells, classes, and methods you might not have used. Whether that's disguising yourself as a drow to get past the goblin camps conflict free, pickpocketting every shopkeeper you can to save money, or saving every smokepowder barrel you can find; there's a lot of fun to be had in honor mode.
Of course, if you normally do explorer and never balanced or tactician, maybe reconsider idk. Also I am weird and absolutely have been trying new classes I never played before in this mode, I highly recommend playing a class you have played before if you're worried about the difficulty. For me? I got act 1 figured out, so by act 2 I'll be used to the class I picked it's no biggie :)
So far the only honor mode game going REALLY well for me is the one I'm doing with my friend, since he was unsure about honor mode and normally plays explorer. That one he is a druid half-wood elf (which is a fantastic pick as the wild shapes are grand for not dying and half-wood elves get an extra 3 meters to their speed) and I am a war cleric of Selune romancing Lae'zel (war clerics RULE for hitting hard, and I wanted to piss off Shadowheart as much as possible with my build.) So if you have a friend who likes playing tactician or honor mode, you can totally mooch off them. Having another player to control half of the team honestly helps a lot imo.

omg for the prompts could you do 11 with like. lucretia and magnus i think it has the potential to be rly funny jskfhkd
11. No I promise you’re supposed to pay for it actually. Obviously, I won’t rat you out but like, that was worth money
--
There's a complaint box outside of Lucretia's office that she rarely opened, let alone looked at. Sure, if there were notes starting to break through the sides of the box, she'd go through them. But that had only happened once when Brad was on vacation. Gods, Lucretia was still so grateful that Maureen had reminded her to make a HR. She did not have the energy to deal with complaints.
That being said: Sometimes she did have to deal with them. Notably, whenever someone cornered and talked to her about it. So when Lucretia stepped outside to go eat her lunch and was very abruptly confronted with Garfield the Deals Warlock, she knew it was going to be one of those days.
"DIRECTOR," Garfield said, with the loudness of someone who was trying to talk over the TV on full volume. "THERE IS A THIEF STEALING FROM MY STORE."
"From... the Fantasy Costco," Lucretia said.
"YES," Garfield said. "WHAT OTHER STORES DO I HAVE? DON'T ANSWER THAT. BUT YES, SOMEONE IS STEALING FROM FANTASY COSTCO! AREN'T YOU GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT???"
Literally, what could Lucretia do in this situation? Nothing. She was a frail old woman. She had standards. She wasn't going to camp outside the store and watch.
Later that day, Lucretia's knees were begging for rest as she crouched down behind a checkout counter in the Fantasy Costco. She was bored. She was tired. She was hungry. She had Director Duties to fulfill, like pretending to do paperwork and lying about not being a Red Robe. Why was she wasting her time on time?
Simple answer. She had actual paperwork to do. But it could be done later. If she waited long enough, the Hunger would maybe eat the tax collectors.
It was nearly closing time and barely anyone had been in here all day. She had seen Angus, who politely pretended like she hadn't been staring at him and wished her a good day when she left. Avi hadn't seemed to notice her when he went to buy a bulk pack of energy drinks. One of the guards from the Voidfish's chamber took a break in here to walk around and try samples.
Right now, she was watching Magnus peruse the shelves carefully. He was looking along the weapons wall, nodding to himself quite a lot. Lucretia could be reading or taking a bath. Maybe even looking for further ways to get away with committing tax fraud. Instead, she observed as Magnus made a loud "hmmm" and nodded again.
And she almost missed it- she was getting tired enough that her eyelids were beginning to feel heavy, but she caught it at the last second. Magnus slipped a pocket knife down from the wall and slipped it into his pocket. He looked around and Lucretia ducked back down under the counter for a second. After a moment, she heard Magnus's footsteps going towards the door. When she peeked up again, he was leaving the Fantasy Costco, one pocket knife richer.
Lucretia followed. Quickly, because Magnus's legs were a bit longer than hers and she really didn't want to go down to their dorm this late at night.
"Magnus!" Lucretia said once they were a reasonable distance from the Fantasy Costco. Magnus turned and brightened upon seeing her, waving.
"Director!" he said.
"Magnus," she said, slowing to a stop. She was kind of out of breath. "Mag- just, oooh boy, just give me a second-"
"Take your time," Magnus said. She paused, leaning against her staff. Oof. She needed to be more physically active. Geez.
"Okay," Lucretia said. "Okay. So. You stole a knife."
"...no I didn't," Magnus said. Awful deception roll. Even more awful considering Lucretia knew all his tells.
"I saw you steal it, Magnus," Lucretia said.
"I am lawful good-"
"Neutral good at best," Lucretia said.
"It was a free knife," Magnus said. "No, uh, no price tag. That means it's free."
"No, I promise you're supposed to pay for it, actually," Lucretia said, having endured Garfield's whole rant earlier in the day. "I'm not gonna- obviously, I'm not gonna rat you out, because the Fantasy Costco is quite literally the only place to get groceries or- or anything, but like, that was worth money."
"I mean," Mangus said, floundering for a second. "Like, okay, it cost money. But does Garfield think I'm made of money? Like, fifty gold for a knife? C'mon!"
"That- that is a lot of gold," Lucretia said. "I could- I mean, I don't usually do that, but I could like, lend you some money? Not work-related money. Just as your, uhm, friend. And also because if you don't go back and pay for it, I'm going to have to sit through another three hours of Garfield explaining the economy to me and Magnus? Mangus, listen. I can't do that again."
"Yikes," Magnus said.
"Please, please go return the knife," Lucretia said. "Please."
"Can I have like... thirty minutes with it?" Magnus asked.
"To do what?"
"I'm learning rogue stuff!" Magnus said. "Like I said, lawful good. I wouldn't steal stuff unless someone asked me to.
"Carey," Lucretia said exhaustedly.
"Carey," Magnus confirmed. "So once I show her that I, y'know, got the knife, I'll take it back. Cross my heart."
"And you'll return the other stuff you've stolen?" Lucretia said.
"The- what? Oh!" Magnus laughed, shaking his head. "I didn't steal anything else. This is it. You gotta ask Taako for the other things."
"Of course I do," Lucretia said.
She could go back to her office. But then she'd be confronted with paperwork and her broken radio and the floor she told herself she'd sweep last week and ughhghghg. She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose with her fingers for a second.
"And would you happen to know where Taako is?" Lucretia asked.

Hum, hi (⁄ ⁄•⁄-⁄•⁄ ⁄)
Have you ever thought about following up with a fic about Warlock Ledge? (>ω<)
It's a very interesting concept, it would be interesting if you covered it a little more...
Of course, if you want (⁄ ⁄•⁄-⁄•⁄ ⁄)
i have indeed thought abt it !!! i've wanted to make a fic abt him for a while now and i've veeerrry slowly been chippin away at an outline for it, but i think the problem is that i care abt his character a Lot, so much so that i want his story to be perfect; that is impossible to achieve, and the idea of it not being "perfect" makes me frustrated, so i always scare myself away from writing it or developing it further </3
if i did write it, it would likely be Long (and the ending would indeed bleed into the ranch au, just ,,, warlock legend version VGEYIAV) and it would take a lot of time to complete. i'd have to approach things abt writing that i've avoided up until now, like effectively/naturally giving exposition without boring the reader, incorporating more than like,, 4 characters at most into the plot, stuff like that. oh, and writing an actual plot with an interesting villain/conflict. that's uh,, not my strong suit </3
for now i'll keep chippin away at the outline until i have an idea of what i rly want it to be. maybe one day i'll start writing it for real ! until then i hope my silly little doodles of him give ya some serotonin :]

well ok its a stretch actually BUT stanford rly rly rly shld have dismantled the portal when fiddleford told him to, or when fiddleford left, or when bill admitted it was entirely for his malevolent use, but he didnt bc thats his life's work and he couldnt bear the thought that it was all for nothing
meanwhile warlock's goals are pretty much 1) solve crime to escape being accused of it (the police are not a big fan of the weird sorcerer man around whom walls frequently begin to bleed) 2) help people 3) hang out with watson. he doesnt need money, he's working on digesting his mortal enemy (until said enemy escapes and thats a big big problem tbf), really he just wants to live a fun life with his best friend. and to that end, he CANNOT stop doing magic!!
the context being that big magic is him doing deals with demons which grants said demons some ownership over our plane of existence. which means the more holmes does big magic the more he fucks the world over. we know this to be inevitable, because all the books start with watson begging for the reader's forgiveness for his role in starting the apocalypse
anyway i only made this post bc i saw this line in The Finality Problem:
"But, it is also possible you are a demon. You've picked this book up out of the wreckage and you're wondering what all the squiggly little markings on the paper are, as you idly pull the pages out one by one and eat them, in order to while away the time before your return to your job at the Murder Mines of Blaglon-Dral (formerly known as Oregon)."
yknow its just occurred to me that warlock holmes and stanford pines are basically the same guy

the biggest reason i havent posted anything here is that whenever i think abt the merlin characters n what not is an modern au, where they work in a place kinda like supergirl? like an undercover organization that deals with supernatural/magic cases n what not. it has several branches, and the one that uther supervises and that arthur, gwen, morgana, the knights, gaius and others work at is more a hands on deck, action packed situation where they deal with cases that need physical force or neutralization n shit like that. they used to be able to just murder any magic being without question (kinda like how cops handle black ppl in america, yknow, no questions just shoot), but now theyre advised against it, much to uther’s chagrin. even tho he is the boss and this branch is the original, this is a democracy so. he also has to abide certain rules.
this change kinda happened because of merlin, because him n uther have met even before merlin n arthur did. but more on that later.
in present times, where the universe is at, merlin is very antisocial n kinda serious. he’s 26 or up, so think season 5. he’s very strange and off-putting (hehe reference), and arthur actively hates him, while the others dont rly feel that strongly abt merlin but still keep their distance. other ppl also dont like merlin because he is barely there but still gets jobs and gets paid. everyone else needs to hand in reports and attend meetings, go to classes if necessary, go rest while others can go n work. merlin doesnt do any of that, may or may not do a job uther assigns him, and if he does do a job he doesnt stay a minute longer. arthur seems merlin as this guy who thinks he’s better than everyone just because he’s a warlock and very powerful, blah blah blah. in fact, when he refers to merlin as he coworker, merlin denies it and says he doesnt work with arthur, or anyone in uther’s branch. it angers him to no end.
merlin’s files of his work and past in the branch are also very sealed tight, no matter how good elyan is at hacking. he tells them it must be magic as well, tho he knows tech magic isn’t merlin’s thing so someone else must be protecting him. it only makes merlin look more suspicious.
everything comes to light one day when gwen overhears merlin n uther screaming at each other in uther’s office and quickly gets arthur. the first thing they hear when the squad enters the scene is merlin screaming at uther’s face “if you even so much as speak to them, speak about them, or even think about them, i will skin you alive myself, no magic involved” very disturbing, very uuuhhhh where’s the context yknow, so while arthur joins in on the screaming because thats his father getting yelled at while the others watch with different levels of amusement (max amusement being morgana, least amusement being gwen) a lot of things become clear
1) merlin doesnt, in fact, work there. uther tells arthur himself that merlin is under no contract, no obligation to show up at any jobs. merlin sometimes does because of certain debts and other personal matter concerning the old branch where he used to work at, that is more about helping and nurturing troubled magic users, a lot of them coming from uther’s cases (it’s all very organized n shit). uther shows that he respects merlin a lot actually, which leaves arthur very confused, until...
2) merlin is the reason why magic beings aren’t killed anymore in uther’s branch because he was able to summon Ygraine’s spirit, with the help of his old boss. after getting absolutely wrecked emotionally n also getting a lecture from ygraine for how uther is treating magic beings, uther gets to work on making it all better, because that is his wife and also she may haunt him if he doesnt do as she please. summoning a spirit did take a lot of energy from merlin, seeing as he did this several times for uther to re manage the branch like his wife may want to. uther feels indebted to him in this way. merlin offers to summon arthurs mother as well if he wishes to, despite the costs. now it leaves the rest of the context to get to...
3) merlin has adopted 3 girls with unusual magical abilities, that he befriended when they were 8/9 and he was 16. because of certain conditions, he had to let them in the care of uther’s organization, before they were separated. he put them exclusively under his uncle’s care, gaius, while he had a lot of things to work through himself and was a danger to them, this at the age of 18. around 20/21, merlin is much better (also uther’s organization starts to separate) and can afford his own apartment for him and the girls to all live in, and from then on (because this kinda job pays very well) cared for them and paid their livings expenses as if they were his own daughters, even tho the age diff is more like siblings. uther is interested in having them working for him cuz theyre all very smart, talented, and powerful, all personally trained by merlin himself. merlin does not want that. none of the girls want it either, they’d probably want to kill uther, because...
4) at the start, when merlin first came under uther’s “care”, he got experimented on, for around 3 months. after knowing this, Alice, the future boss of merlin, the boss of the first branch that separated form uther to help magic beings instead of killing them, took merlin under her care. from then on out, she became his therapist, from 18 to 26 and onwards. they’re great friends and he keeps trying to get her n gaius together but they refuse (merlin doesnt know that they have in fact met before n have had a relationship but it fell off cuz gaius was uther’s friend and alice could never like that). so now that they know what the context what about, the unbridled hatred merlin has for uther, uther’s weird but respectful views of merlin and merlin’s position in the branch, now they all have one last question. what the fuck does merlin do then, if his job is not on the branch? well...
5) he’s a teacher. do you know mildred hubble? yh he teaches that class. yeah. he’s suffering. he also teaches some other girls but thats more of part time classes for them because they have other shit to do, like school. this is baffling to everybody because what the fuck. your main job is an elementary magic teacher, n your side hustle is... an undercover organization not influenced by the government?? what???
so yh this universe is just pure crack, very self-indulgent n shit, as per usual
#merlin#bbc merlin#merlin AU#bbc merlin au#My writing#my post#this is actually a very fun universe that i have expanded so much like u have no clue

so this oc: they're a feylost tiefling wild magic sorcerer/archfey warlock multiclass named Journey (self-chosen virtue name, obvs)
(more about them under the cut bc this got Long and self-indulgent)
they're bisexual and nonbinary/genderfluid/bigender in a way where like. it rly depends on how they feel day-to-day. some days they're a guy and prefer he/they, some days they're a woman and prefer she/they, some days they're neither and only want to be addressed with they/them
physically, they're fairly tall and slim, with an androgynous-leaning-masculine physique, but very delicate and elegant facial features. they have midnight blue skin, glowing violet eyes with black sclera, long slivery-white hair (that also seems to almost glow when contrasted with their skin) typically pulled up into a high messy man-bun-style bun, and shiny long black horns that twist and curve. their fey mark manifests as a skin effect--their skin sparkles in the moonlight, but in a way that looks less like glitter and more like stars and galaxies and nebulas against their dark skin
they tend to dress in loose, comfortable traveler's clothes in muted colors, though when they have the opportunity to dress up they go Big and prefer metallics and gemtones. but where they really adorn themself is jewelry--their horns are dripping in jewelry, and they've got a ton of ear piercings and an eyebrow piercing.
they're a very chill, friendly, go-with-the-flow kind of person, in a way that always kind of seems to work out for them, even when it shouldn't. like as a very young child (like, 4 or 5 years old, maximum), through some feat of accidental wild magic and extraordinary luck, they accidentally managed to stumble into the feywild while exploring. and there they met an archfey and immediately caught said archfey's interest. so the fey was basically like "Mine Now" and raised them basically like their own child? and Journey forgot about their biological family pretty quickly, bc feywild
until one day they found themself back on the prime material plane without any memory of how they got there, why they left, or how to get back. which they're kind of sad about, bc they'd really like to go back to the feywild. but what they do have is a warlock contract with their archfey adoptive parent, which they actually find super comforting. so, being the wandering spirit they are, they decide that until they can figure out how to go home they might as well see the world and have some fun and named themself Journey.
other things: when they get enough levels in warlock, they're gonna go for pact of the chain and have a sprite familiar. (yes, i did decide that and only then realize the similarities between Journey and Peter Pan. shut up.) also the eventual plan would be 15 levels of sorcerer and 5 of warlock, bc even tho the lvl 6 archfey warlock ability is SO cool, it's ultimately not as worth it as having an 8th level spell and spell slot
anyway this got long but. i wanna play them so badlyyyyyyyyy i could have so much FUN with a sorcerer/warlock.
