thinking of the one time i came across a diavolo playlist and it was like 14 hours long. how do you do that... i admit i've kinda tried to make a diavolo playlist but i am far too picky with it there's only like 8 songs on it so far
#rambles#i remember the specific song saccharine by jazmin bean (actually not sure if that was on that specific diavolo playlist or another one)#i like jazmin but i feel like that song was only put on there for the ''the thought of caring for anyone makes me want to scream'' line#there's no one in the series he's like obsessively emotionally attached to + in distress about it so it's an odd pick to me...#i remember there was also how bad can i be (like the lorax song) on there... real tbh. diavolocore

Fandom song animatic tournament: Side A Round 2
The other side - The Greatest Showman Musical
"Don't you wanna get away from the same old part you gotta play? 'Cause I got what you need, so come with me and take the ride It'll take you to the other side"
How bad can I be? - The Lorax (Movie)
"How ba-a-a-ad can I be? I'm just doing what comes naturally How ba-a-a-ad can I be? I'm just following my destiny How ba-a-a-ad can I be? I'm just doing what comes naturally How ba-a-a-ad can I be? How bad can I possibly be?"
Remember that we're voting on how Iconic they are for ANIMATICS, not for the song itself. In order to make things fair, the tone and mood of the song should not affect how iconic it is (for example, a serious song should not be considered more iconic than a joke song just because it's serious)
Propaganda and animatic links of the songs under the cut:
The other side - The Greatest Showman Musical
Propaganda:
uhhh i never watched the greatest showman but the song goes HARD and its cool as fuck to see how ppl portray these opposing tropes & characters in their animatics
Obnoxious as hell but without it weed be down so many homoerotically charged interactions. The enemies to lovers people would be quaking
it was so popular even i wanted to make an animatic of it 😭 (i never did cause i didn’t even have a stylus at the time but i think that was for the better)
Luz and Hunter. Grian and Mumbo / Etho and Bdubs. Hawks and Dabi. I'm sure I'm forgetting something
oh my god??? the homoerotism of trying to convince ur enemy to join ur side??? whats there not to love?
The only objectively good song in The Greatest Showman deserves some respect, god damn it. Also it's a very catchy way to show a character's betrayal/character changes in general.
The song just overall slaps and also it's great for showing characters having a conflict with one trying to convince the other to join the opposing side
its very character driven, so no wonder its very popular. almost every fandom ive been in has an animatic of this song.
Animatics with the song:
Creepypasta Marble Hornets
Karmaland
BNHA Villain Deku
The Owl House
The Promised Neverland
She-Ra
How bad can I be? - The Lorax (Movie)
Propaganda:
it’s an evil bop
I need everyone to go watch How Bad Can I Be? By Public Spam Account. The best animatic every, plus the song is perfect for any villain character and came from a movie deeply important to tumblr lore
...the only propaganda i have for this is the time two years ago when a zine team gave andrew francis like $50 to sing part of it in the voice of morro ninjago thanks to a joke about onceler morro. someone did animate it if that helps at all
Animatics with the song:
DSMP
Hermitcraft
Darkstalker Animatic
DeadCells The King Animatic
MBIT ENTJ Animatic
Please be cautious and read the title, description and warning cards on the animatic videos if you decide to watch them. If you've got specific triggers I'd recommend even more caution when watching animatics of fandoms you don't know, since sometimes canon-typical themes don't get warnings.

Introduction post!
I drew myself using my actual photo as reference so trust me, this is very accurate to how I'm looking irl. I'm also showing you my photo in this outfit (not this one used for reference) which is showing me and my pillow! On second photo is me and my guitar and I noticed that in movie is similar frame so I made comparison. I hope you like it!
As for introduction at first I should say that I'm 19 yrs old (20 on 1st October) and I'm extremaly similar to Once-ler, we have same personality and interests and this is very problematic to me because people are often thinking that I'm roleplaying when I'm just being myself so you should remember that this isn't roleplay and I'm desciribing my actual self!
So when you know it then ofc I want show you few examples of those similarities. First, I'm very interested in business, I have many ideas for my own businesses even if they are just dreams. I can be very passionate about that and talk so much about it. By example I was writing speech of opening of Thneed factory even if this business is just a dream but I'm just too passionate so I can't let my energy get wasted and I remaked lyrics to song ,,Everybody needs a Thneed" - I mostly changed uses and I done it because I love that business so I was thinking that maybe I should try make few Thneeds in real life and I sewn one but that was Thneed from random material for practice so it's not so good but it have shape just like in movie and I didn't saw any so-called Thneed in this shape before because indeed this shape is very difficult so probably I'm the first who actually did it.
Currently I'm struggling to find better material but when I would find it, I hope that I can make Thneed that is very close to this movie one! Also I'm very good at defending deforestation and telling why it's not that bad and telling about how business in movie could not get bankrupt even after cutting whole forest! I'm also aware than my mindset it's unique and that I can show others different perspective on those things.
I also very good at making pancakes and I'm eating them with marhsmallows and it was my idea because I know that's not common mix and I made it by myself (btw on one photo here there is small picture in photo frame in background which is me with plate of pancakes so you have proof) and baking - mostly cupcakes. I like drawing, writing books and I even wrote few poems but the most I like writing about things I'm passionate about. I love music and I'm learning to play on electric guitar but I can't play on it yet. I also love cats, I have three of them.
I really like movie ,,The Lorax" but when I would making it then of course I would make Thneed business better and bigger and it wouldn't get bankrupt! I also have some ideas of another companies which are involving Truffula trees and obviously there would be more scenes with Once-ler because he deserve it. Anyways this movie isn't making sense very often but this is environmental propaganda so what do you expecting? Like what's wrong with destroying just one forest? I have arguments that even shows Lorax as the villain (this is some example of my unique mindset because no way that I'd say that chopping trees is bad so I'm taking serious when defending this business) but I won't write my arguments here because I already wrote too much and I don't want to bore you (but when you are in fandom then you probably want to hear about it..?) so that's all for now!
If you are interested in meeting person like me and if you want to talk about business, Thneeds or something else related to movie then don't hesitate to interact with me, I'd be happy to met Once-ler fans!

October 2023 Art
for some reason i wrote a novel under the cut, for those of u actually reading, thank u for being so patient x
vvv dates + info under the cut vvv
1 - 03/10/2023 : another of my faves of last year, was trying to get better at drawing trainz, so just Edward and Toby hanging out, displaying the duality of old men x
2 - 04/10/2023 : got a new puter! one of the first things i set to doing after getting set up was to draw a Ru, of course, it was also just me trying to get used to the new MS paint..... it feels very odd
3, 4, 5 - 06/10/2023 : part 1 of redrawing random pics i have of Edward on my phone with my human version of him, this was really fun tbh, and the third here is one of my fave drawings of the year probs.. like sir.. those look heavy... what big uhh.. Glasses.. you have
6, 7, 8 - 07/10/2023 : part 2! i think i just like drawing his face... dare i say this train is cunty or will that get me exiled
9 - 08/10/2023 : something stupid i thought of and couldn't get out of my head for days so had to draw it..... little johnny from oingo boingo's only a lad, doing what he does best, fantasising about radios he wants oh so bad and running people down with a boyish craving for blood.. based on that 1 meme of the guy driving and thinking of a thing then making that insane face
10 - 09/10/2023 : based on that 1 silly vargskelethor song (that could not be less specific), had Shed 17 on the brain and was reminded of the milk song where the skeleton comes out.. thomarse dank 2 much milk and died..
11, 12 - 10/10/2023 : chooshada again :333 first a little doodle on my phone bc i was wondering about her livery, i do think she'd have originally been NER apple green but then painted NWR colours, butttt with a twist... coz i can do whatever i like... the twist is just that she's painted dark blue rather than a sky blue, coz its more her colour x
ALSO MS paint shada, wanted to draw her more uh, idk, detailed ig, idk i love this one, it also served as more train practice
13 - 13/10/2023 : previous one, but with COLOUR!! not much 2 say other than that shes very cute
14 - 18/10/2023 : saw a tweet abt old photos of engine crews posing with their crashed locos and how the NWR crews would do that, made me think of how, if Toni was (choo)shada's driver, she'd do that.. probably x .. very like her to slay in the midst of a terrible accident
15 - 22/10/2023 : predictably, i have some playlists for the ttte engines, one for Diesel which is notable here, so uhh, i have the scrapped song from the lorax "biggering" in there, bc i see it as like a Duck vs Diesel song, ik im surpassing several layers of cringe here but hear me out ok... i drew this at 2am coz i couldn't stop thinking of Duck lecturing Diesel
16, 17, 18 - 25/10/2023 : speaking of playlists, think i was listening to my Robin one here, and felt like drawing him, i have "the land of make believe" in there, which ive always found to be an oddly haunting song, so this is semi based on that, though that wouldn't be apparent if i hadn't just told u x .. this looks like vent art but tis not i was just having fun
also tiny chooshada, i was in the middle of writing something which i have literally Just remembered now and i was writing a scene where Ru is stuck between some characters who shes not looking forward to working with bc they're about to bicker the whole fuckin time and one of them thinks shes a dick, so i drew her being sad that shes forced to work with morons..... and speak of the devil, 3rd drawing is here with 2 of the aforementioned morons :D i think D+D take a liking to her, they're just a little obnoxious (love them for that)
19 - 27/10/2023 : a quick(ish) digital thing of Chooshada again that i did on the side of another project, more engine drawing practice he he, she'll be out of proportion and lacking detail but really it was just to not be too hard on myself about that, it did help i think to understand how to draw her more, plus just look at her lil face... also she has a number here, doesn't mean much other than 8 being her lucky number, other than 11, like those are just her numbers, suppose i could have it be 1188 to ref her bday, idfk x

saw someone else to this so im plaguing my mutuals with this
free pass to ramble about literally any topic!!! i wanna hear about the things you like
ok I know you said things I like but I'm actually going to take this opportunity to rant about The Lorax (2012) because I have a lot of thoughts about why I hate this movie. Thank you for the ask :)
idk how coherent this will be and this might get long sorry
By the way no judgement to anyone who likes this movie or to the onceler fuckers, these are just my opinions. So to start off, I feel like the lorax story did not lend itself well to the animated kids movie formula. It probably would've been better as some sort of short film or something. And I know Dr Seuss was, like, racist and stuff but the lorax had a pretty good message. And in making the movie I feel like they muddled that message a lot.
So like I said, the story didn't fit the vibe, so to make it work as a kids movie they added an entire other plotline outside of the actual story. They expand upon both the world and the child hearing the story, and I have a problem with both of these. It seems like they were trying to make the town have that whimsical feel that other movies based on Seuss stories have, but personally, I don't think it works for the Lorax. Reading the story you get a sense that the world is desolate and barren. It feels pretty dystopian. In the movie that's only the area where the onceler lives and outside of that is a pretty nice looking town. Sure they have no trees, and are being scammed by some shitty CEO but it's a society with lots of people, who don't seem to feel like anything's wrong. And considering that it's a movie for children, I think the things that make it feel dystopian are too subtle. And you could argue that it was intentionally made to feel like real life, as some sort of commentary or something, but again I think kids won't pick up on that.
Moving on to the kid voiced by zac Efron, (I don't remember his name and I don't really care) I think in the story the kid is meant to be a stand in for anyone, like it doesn't matter who he is because it's meant to be you, reading the story. So making this kid a more fleshed out character was not something I would've done in the first place. Furthermore this kid doesn't even think anything's wrong. He's just motivated by the girl he likes saying she wishes she could see a tree! and that's kind of all he cares about which makes me feel like at that point why isn't she just the main character? (also side it was a weird choice to make her be so much older than him.) Basically I didn't care about any of this, they should have left out the entirety of this outside plot.
Anyway, moving on to the actual important part of the story, we have to talk about the onceler. And I think the main issue with the onceler is that they humanized him too much. Obviously in the picture book you don't really see his face, and reads like much more of a creature. I also believe that there was early concept art of the onceler where he was a lot more creature-y but obviously in the movie he ended up as just a guy. And you could argue that this makes sense because in real life it is humans who are at the root of all the things destroying the environment, but the onceler isn't meant to represent one person, he's meant to represent the companies and corporations. And I don't think the whole tumblr sexyman thing was necessarily their fault because I don't think that was intentional or that they could've forseen that, but it's kind of a testament to the fact that he is too sympathetic a character. And I guess that might be sort of the root of my problems with the movie, that everything feels too personal to be as allegorical as the original story feels. Oh yeah also the deleted song "Biggering" is actually really good and in my opinion would have worked much much better than how bad can i be or whatever. I feel like there's a lot more I could say and i'm probably forgetting a bunch of stuff but I'm kind of losing steam and I've already written a ton so I'll leave it at that I guess. I'm not rereading this lol I hope it's at all comprehensible and if anyone reads this whole thing sorry :P oh and DISCLAIMER I haven't watched this movie in a while or read the story so this was just me talking out my ass if I got something wrong or said anything stupid, whoops 🤷🏽

About me
Hello everyone! I am Sebastian, and this is my Sabrina Secrets Of A Teenage Witch fan blog
Above this text is a picture I drew of Sabrina, I hope you like it
I've noticed there aren't many fans of this show, especially on this site, and if I'm being honest I understand, the show isn't as good as the other Sabrina Teenage Witch shows (at least from what I have heard because I haven't watched any other Sabrina shows).
But I'm also quite surprised by this because Tumblr has also showed love and interest in other media that isn't considered good such as The Lorax (2012), though I guess the Lorax was a lot more popular that this show and definitely made more money
Anyways so I've come to answer some questions that you may have about me and this blog, if you have anymore questions comment them and I'll answer them in another post
Here is the Q&A
V
V
V
Q: why did you start this blog?
A: I want to find other people who are interested in this particular show, and also introduce people to it so we can start our own little fanbase
Q: why do you like this show in particular?
A: this is for many reasons, I remember watching it a lot on Pop as a kid, Pop is this british TV channel that often shows cartoons for kids, it showed a lot of well known shows such as My Little Pony and Pokémon, but it also showed lesser known shows such as Sabrina: Secrets Of A Teenage Witch. I was about 7 when I first saw it, I think the first episode I saw was the Valentines day episode with all of those evil roses, I wasn't obsessed with the show or anything but I liked it and would gladly watch it if it was on
Then after I grew up and stopped watching TV channels like Pop, I sort of just forgot about SSOATW, I actually did forget about most of the episodes I watched with only a few select scenes lingering in my mind (an example was this scene of Shinji yelling at Sabrina, though since he literally does this in every episode I don't know specifically which episode its from)
That was until a few months ago when I saw an account on TikTok (I'm not exactly the biggest TikTok person btw, I just use it when I'm bored), this account posted songs from TV shows and movies and was basically one of those "nostalgic memories unlocked" type accounts, and one of the videos they had posted was the intro song to SSOATW, I was like "Hey I remember this show!" And I listened to the intro, the intro was surprisingly a tune and I liked it
I searched up the longer version of the intro on YouTube to listen to, and thats when I found that the entire series could be watched for free on YouTube, long story short I decided to watch it and yeah, its not the best thing in the world, and you could blame it on my nostalgia, but I actually enjoyed most of it, I really like the character Shinji, he is so cartoonishly mean to the other characters and is emo, and I'm a bit surprised he hasn't become one of those "Tumblr sexymen"
I also really like the style of the Witch World, yeah certain parts of it look like an old PS1 game, but I love the outfits of the Witch characters and the architecture of the school, and I honestly wish that they showed more of the creatures in the witch world, the only ones that really get much attention are the trolls, who I admit are sometimes funny but I found creatures such as the Ice Giant more interesting
Is the animation good? Nope. Is the writing good? It can vary. Is the story interesting? Sometimes. Are the characters interesting? They can vary. Is the intro song a bop? Hell yes.
So overall I don't really understand why I like Sabrina: Secrets Of A Teenage Witch so much, considering how mediocre it is (its not as bad as some other shows but still, not on Avatar The Last Airbender type level), but at least I'm having fun! 👍
Q: what will you be posting on this blog?
A: mainly fanart, reviews on certain episodes and the occasional fan fiction, mainly about Shinji because he's my favourite (not that I don't like the other characters too, I just find Shinji to be the most interesting)
Q: who is your favourite character?
A: well you've probably already guessed its Shinji, I just think he's really funny, I wish the show had delved more into his relationship with his mother (who is the main villain of the show) and made him less of a one note bully/rival character, but I guess thats sort of the appeal of him, he's stupid and acts all tough, and while he does have potential in magic his cockiness often gets the better of him
Q: who's your least favourite character?
A: I don't really hate anyone from SSOATW (at least not like soul crushingly hate), but one character I dislike is Jim, he didn't do anything that annoyed me, but thats the thing, he hasn't done anything in the show to make me feel anything! He has zero personality and is just the generic love interest guy, I don't get why Sabrina wants to be with him so badly. According to fans of other Sabrina shows, Harvey is actually Sabrina's love interest in the other shows, I would've liked that better, because yeah, Harvey's a nerd but he's got a personality, and there's nothing wrong with being a nerd!
This is honestly a problem I have with a lot of the other human world characters too, Sabrina's best friend Jesse has more personality than Jim, but there isn't really much we learn about her other than the fact she's Sabrina's best friend and is one of the only humans who knows she's a witch. Sabrina's aunts are quite fun but we don't know much about them either other than they're also witches, they own a bakery and they take care of Sabrina. Amy and Harvey are probably the more interesting characters in the human world, with Amy yeah she's the stereotypical mean girl and can be annoying at times, but at least she has personality and actually makes me laugh sometimes
Q: how do you think the show could've been improved?
A: there are many aspects in which the show could've been improved. One is the animation, but I'm not a master in animation so I don't exactly know how they could've improved it. Meanwhile I do know how to write and I have been writing stories since I was a toddler. First of all we need to make the human worlds characters more interesting, either give Jim an actual personality (maybe he's really shy, or he acts over confident to cover up the fact he is shy, or he's friends with Harvey because he's also a nerd and shares his nerdy interests) or get rid of Jim and make Harvey the love interest.
With Jesse, we could hear more about her interests, in the episode with the ice giant she directed the school play, maybe we could show more about her interest in theatre, maybe she aspires to write theatrical productions when she grows up. With Amy we could make her a bit more like Cleo from Monster High (at least in G1), still one of popular diva girls and has a bit of an attitude but still cares about her friends, she partook in the school play Jesse directed, maybe she and Jesse are also quite good friends because Amy aspires to be an actress when she grows up which connects to Jesse's interests in theatre.
When it comes to Sabrina's aunts we could learn more about their backstories before Sabrina was born, we could learn about their lives in the Witch World, maybe one of them used to be terrible at magic and was bullied about it, maybe one of them was very good at magic and was at the top of every class but because of this more pressure was put on them and they were met by jealousy from their peers.
In the witch world we don't have as much problems when it comes to the characters not being interesting, but there are still things we can take a look at. For example in the ice giant episode we learn that Sabrina and Ambrose are cousins, I wish the show had delved deeper into their relationship, and maybe Sabrina's relationship with her other aunt and uncle (wait, does Sabrina have many aunts or maybe Zelda or Hilda is secretly Ambrose's mom? I doubt it but its an interesting concept)
We also learn that Ambrose sort of has issues with his parents seeing as they sort of traumatized him as a child when they threatened to feed him to the ice giant when he didn't eat his food, these issues with his parents are never brought up again
Speaking of parents, like I mentioned before I wish we learned about Shinji's relationship with his mother Enchantra more, yeah we know he's a mommas boy and despite claiming to be his "Own Warlock" he follows nearly everything she says a lot of the time, we also see she doesn't really treat him that nicely which maybe lead to the psychological issues that causes him to literally belittle everyone around for no reason other than to feel superior, maybe this is his way of coping with his mom always asserting her superiority over him.
In the episode chariots of fear Shinji actually learns to work with Sabrina during the 10,000 steps trial Enchantra sends them on, yeah he bickers with her during it but it was cool to see them work together and it could've led to him getting some character development, and I also wish we could've seen more of his opinions on his mom wanting him and Sabrina to get married despite the fact they don't like each other
Lets talk Zanda and Wanda, I think they're twin sisters? I'm not entirely sure, they might be twins but they could also be best friends who happen to have similar names. I wish they had gotten more fleshed out characters, they seem to be one of those "opposites attract" type of friendship, seeing as Zanda is red, tomboyish and more wild while Wanda is blue, feminine and more chill, and I like that sort of thing. I wish we could've seen how their differences affect their friendship and how they manage to get along so well despite being so different, but hey its not like they're as bad as the human world characters.
Veralupa I think is one of the better witch world characters alongside Ambrose and Shinji, she's half witch half werewolf and I think she's very charming! I like how she and Sabrina have a special bond because they seem to be the only 2 half witches in school, she's funny, kindhearted and has a quick temper, she's definitely in my top 5 favourites. My only problem is that I wish we could hear about her struggles of being half werewolf half witch, maybe the witch side and werewolf sides of her family don't get along and she's sort of stuck in the middle because of that. But like Zanda and Wanda, she's 100% not as bad as some of the human world characters
I think Enchantra is an entertaining villain but I wish they could've explained her motive better, like how does Shinji and Sabrina getting married make it so she can combine their powers and steal it from them? How does she even know that them getting married will do this?
Finally it comes to Sabrina, I like Sabrina, I think her being half witch half human is interesting, I like seeing her relationships with the other characters, I think her voice actress does quite a good job and I think her design (both in her human clothes and witch clothes) is adorable. But I wish she was given more flaws, it seems like Sabrina is absolutely perfect in both worlds. In the Witch World she's top of her classes in magic, everyone at Witch school is her friend (except Shinji, but that doesn't really count because no one at Witch school really likes Shinji), she's always able to escape any and all dangers without any lasting consequences, in the Human world everyone also wants to be her friend (even the mean girl rival/frenemy Amy is her friend in a way and isn't as mean to her as Shinji), she doesn't seem to do bad at Human school, her Aunts take good care of her, she lives in a cool bakery, the guy she likes probably likes her back, she rides a cool pink scooter, and everything always seems to go her way
Its not like Sabrina is insufferable or anything because like I said before I like Sabrina, but I wish she was given more flaws than just "being clumsy and awkward". Many people would probably describe her as a Mary Sue type character. The show often describes that Sabrina struggles with being half human half witch, but thats only really brought up in one episode where Sabrina expresses frustration of having to go to multiple hours of Witch school and then another multiple hours of Human school which would obviously leave her exhausted, but like Ambrose's parent issues, this is never brought up again. I wish we could see how Sabrina is frustrated feeling like she can never spend time on herself or her hobbies because by the time she's finished with Witch and and Human school at the end of the day she's too tired to do anything but sleep, making her feel like she doesn't have any real purpose, but no the show sort of just glosses over this
One last thing I'd like to comment on about the show is the magic. I get it, its just a kids show and not many kids really think about the magic system when watching a show about witches and warlocks, but the magic system in this show makes zero sense. Its the type of magic thats only acknowledged when its convenient, and then in a later episode when that same type of magic could be useful in a situation its completely ignored! I also wish that there were different types of magic that the characters could succeed and struggle with (for example maybe Sabrina could be excellent with wand magic but is absolutely terrible at spoken spells)
Q: who are you as a person
A: hi I am Sebastian, I am good at art, writing and other such things. I have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I love Sabrina Secrets Of A Teenage Witch, Jojos Bizarre Adventure, Gorillaz, Minecraft, Sonic The Hedgehog, Monster High and Resident Evil (Though obviously I will mainly post about Sabrina). I love goth, emo and scene kid fashion and music (I often draw this type of style too). My favourite Holiday is Halloween. I am from England (yeah the place where we drink tea and eat crumpets and stuff 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧☕☕☕☕). And my favourite colour is green
Q: are you a boy or girl?
A: I am a boy, I know my name Sebastian is primarily a male name but people have gotten confused about my gender before (I assume this is because I present more feminine interests) so I want to make it clear I am male
Q: how old are you?
A: I'm not comfortable sharing my age but when it comes to people interacting with my blog I'd say its not completely inappropriate for kids, but not exactly for little little kids, I do swear sometimes and on very rare occasions talk about inappropriate subjects (though I never go into graphic details or post anything surrounding these subjects entirely and I always put warnings beforehand)
So yeah, that's about everything I can think of, if you decide to stick around I hope you enjoy! And if you don't thats fine, I hope you have a nice day

look who’s been writing
anyways crumb
also i wrote it when i was tired so no speaker tags but it’s between chris, isaac, and nevin (it starts out with isaac and then uhhh take your best guess)
“Maybe you should get some earbuds and listen to meme songs all the time.”
“But then the playlist would get worn out and I’d feel bad.”
“You have an entire playlist?”
“Yeah. Chris showed it to me.”
“Is there even anything good on there?”
“There’s uh…”
Chris took his phone out and scrolled for a while.
“A lot. Like probably too much but I just don’t delete anything.”
“Ok, that’s pretty cool-“
“Oh hey, look at this one Nevin!”
Chris had How Bad Can I Be pulled up on his phone.
“You motherfu-”
“Okay, back to the point, guys. I’m having a crisis over here and you’re harassing each other with the Lorax.”
“You were there! You watched him get possessed by the Onceler!”
“I still don’t remember anything that happened when I got possessed, apparently.”

(I'll make a video of this later, but I need to say this now)
In 2012, the Lorax movie came out and the Onceler became the first "Tumblr Sexyman." The concept was still new and the internet was not quite ready for such a thing. There were horrible self-cest fan artworks and things so terrifying it scared Ed Helms himself. But we progressed.
2 (-ish I'm rounding) years later, Gravity Falls. Everyone had a huge crush on Bill Cipher, the megalomaniacal triangular antagonist of the show. All of this made him into the second sexyman. Again, loads of fan art. Some good, some bad, and some very, very ugly. But Bill Cipher made his way into the sexymen club.
Of course, we can't forget the release of Undertale, bringing about the creation of Sans and his AUs. They all brought what you'd expect from a sexyman, usually incredibly good art with bad intentions or ships behind it. Nothing surprising. All part of the pattern of sexymen as Undertale released 2-ish years after Gravity Falls.
Alastor of Hazbin Hotel (2019. Late as far as the pattern goes, since that's about 3 years after Undertale/Sans becoming a sexyman). No surprise. Bringing us back to our roots of tall, slender, and possibly (but absolutely canonically in Alastor's case) aroace dudes. Alastor is closer to the conventionally attractive male form, similar to the Onceler, but very unlike Bill and Sans as they are both short and not hardly human shaped.
So with all of this information presented, what conclusion am I trying to lead you to?
Ladies, gentlemen, and everything in between and outside of, based on past patterns, I concluded months ago that we in 2021 would be receiving a new sexyman. But who it is may surprise you.
People have said it's Raymond from Animal Crossing or Espresso Cookie from Cookie Run Kingdom, but I suspect it is none other than Spamton G. Spamton of Deltarune chapter 2.
Allow me to explain.
Every Tumblr sexyman has had at least one song. The Onceler had "How Bad Can I Be?" Bill Cipher had "It's Gonna Get Weird," (albeit the song never made it into the show) Sans has "sans." "Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans," and of course "Megalovania." Alastor does have a song too, but I couldn't find the actual name of it since he gets cut off by Sir Pentious and his fighting in the terf wars. Spamton also has recognizable songs like "Spamton," "NOW'S YOURE CHANCE TO BE A ," "BIG SHOT," and more.
All of the magical sexymen (Sans, Bill, Alastor) have pretty mysterious backstories with limited information given about them. The same goes for Spamton. The information given is limited and his backstory is left up for speculation.
(i can't find it at the moment, but there's a piece of spamton fanart i came across that looked very similar to onceler fanart. these pictures will have to do)
If you look at these two pictures, they have some parallels. Both have themes of money, fitting as both characters are salesmen. Both have toothy smiles, fitting for Spamton, as he's a puppet and can't do much else. Both have lots of green going along with the money theme.
So Tumblr, I ask you to look upon this post with favor. As Spamton G. Spamton slowly rises in popularity and establishes himself as the fifth Tumblr sexyman, it is my wish that we can continue to make good fanart that doesn't promote illegal or morally wrong activities.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
And remember not to take anything seriously

Psycho Analysis is a series that looks at villains across various media in the hopes of coming to something of a consensus on the overall quality of the character. Are they performed well? Do they enrich the narrative? Are their motives fleshed out? Are they voiced by Tim Curry and thus a sex icon?
There are a lot of important questions that I look into, but ultimately, Psycho Analysis boils down to asking one simple little question: How bad can a character be?
Thankfully, there’s one villain who decided to answer that question for me... in song form.
Psycho Analysis: The Once-ler
(WARNING! This analysis contains SPOILERS!)
Yeah, I’m finally talking about everyone’s favorite greedy bastard who, back in some of the darkest days of Tumblr history, ended up being the premier sexyman on the website. People were thirsting over this twiggy weirdo, acting as if he were God’s gift to women and shipping him with alternate versions of himself. Much like the movie he’s from, he is now incredibly hard to take seriously.
But hey, speaking of alternate versions of himself, I’m going to be covering him from the original book and the animated short film as well. Might as well just knock it all out of the park at once, right? Now let’s see how ba-a-a-ad this guy can be.
Motivation/Goals: The Once-ler is all about biggering. He’s making thneeds (things that everyone needs) and he is gonna stop at nothing to craft these things. Not even the power of the Lorax, Danny DeVito or otherwise, is going to stay his hand from getting that sweet, soft Truffula fluff to make his wares. This is ultimately a little unrealistic, at least for the Illumination version; if Danny DeVito asked me not to do something, I’d listen, no questions asked.
Performance: In the animated special, Bob Holt does double duty, as he is portraying both Once-ler and the title character. It works really well for what they’re going for, and the double casting is interesting because it highlights the ultimate role of the Lorax as the Once-ler’s conscience given form.
In the film, Ed Helms portrays the Once-ler, and he’s fine. He’s certainly better casting than Audrey, but that’s not particularly saying much considering that’s a non-singing Taylor Swift (when Cats is able to utilize Taylor Swift better than your musical, you know there’s trouble). I don’t know, Ed Helms is fun and all, but I’m just not sure his take on the Once-ler is all too compelling overall.
Final Fate: In the original book and the special, the Once-ler wins… but even he realizes it’s a terrible, pointless victory, and all he has achieved is ruin, his family leaving him, his business ultimately collapsing, and the environment permanently damaged. He’s left as a miserable, jaded hermit, broken by the bleak consequences his greedy actions have sown upon the world and only able to tell his story and pass on the last Truffula seed in the hopes that maybe, maybe someday the trees can regrow and the Lorax will return. The Illumination version follows this but then tacks on a happy ending where the Lorax and Once-ler reunite because as we know ambiguity and bittersweet endings cannot exist in children’s films.
Best Scene: Obviously it’s the scene where he shakes his ass to seduce Jack Frost, in one of the greatest gay romances ever put to film.
Joking aside, it is undoubtedly his villain song. It has become such a meme, but real talk? “How Bad Can I Be” slaps. This is a really good song, probably too good for the movie but you know what, I’ll take it.
youtube
Best Quote: HOW BA-A-A-AD CAN I BE? Yes, I’m using a line from his villain song. Sue me.
Final Thoughts & Score: What can one really say about the movie version of the Once-ler that hasn’t already been run into the ground? Well, how about… He’s not too bad, honestly? Like, yes, he has next to nothing to do with his book counterpart and they really go way too far into trying to make a capitalist pig sympathetic… but the animated special from the 70s did that too. I think the Once-ler honestly works better when there is a dash of complexity to him and he isn’t just a simple-minded Captain Planet villain.
Of course, the issue here is that the 70s version took a simpler approach, kind of less is more. The 70s Once-ler brings up some valid points to the Lorax about his work, and the Lorax can’t help but agree that there’s no easy answer while also stressing that the environmental devastation is still really, really bad. It works, it feels complex, and it arguably helps the ultimate point that we need to protect the environment better than even the book did (and I love the book, don’t get me wrong, but its take on the Once-ler is a bit too simple for its own good; it almost runs into the Femme Fatale problem by being a bit too much of a strawman). The movie version has a bit too much going on, especially with his family. His family are much more blatantly evil, greedy, and manipulative, but they’re relegated to the background for much of the film and don’t effect things all that much. The whole narrative would have been infinitely stronger if they were the greater scope villains behind Once-ler and were who needed to be defeated and maybe taught a lesson, but instead they are ignored in favor of someone I’ll address very shortly.
All of this leaves movie Once-ler feeling extremely disjointed, but not irredeemably so. As I said before, his villain song is unironically awesome, and as lame as it is compared to the more haunting, contemplative ending of the book and the special, I’m not so much of a curmudgeon that I didn’t at least smile when he finally reconciled with the Lorax. Ultimately though, him being memed to death really didn’t help his case, but it means I’m not giving the movie version anything less than a 3/10. He might in fact be the best “so bad it’s good” villain ever, or at least up there. He’s just so undeniably enjoyable even if the narrative isn’t making him as complex as it thinks it is. The animated special version gets a 9/10, the book version is a 7/10, and the Once-ler’s family gets a 5/10 for being an interesting concept they sadly do little with, which will now be elaborated on as I follow up on the foreshadowing from the last paragraph...
Psycho Analysis: Aloysius O’Hare
Remember how I said the Once-ler’s family gets ignored in favor of someone else? Here he is, Aloysius O’Hare, one of the absolute lamest villains ever put to screen.
Motivation/Goals: He’s greedy. That’s it. I’m not kidding. He’s just a cartoonish caricature of a rich person, which still makes him a realistic portayal but also makes him boring as sin compared to the wacky dude with a big musical number about how bad he can be.
Performance: Rob Riggle does a decent job, but there’s really not much for him to work with here. This character is a cardboard cutout who exists to be as cartoonishly greedy and evil as possible with no nuance so the kids know who to root against and so that Once-ler doesn’t look bad in comparison.
Final Fate: Look, he’s a blatantly evil corporate villain in a kid’s movie about the environment. Of course he gets defeated and everyone turns on him. What’s especially funny though is that, on the brink of learning his lesson, he rejects any form of redemption and just goes whole hog on being a villain.
Best Scene: I will absolutely give him this: in the face of his ultimate defeat, after having the virtues of trees sung to him and the entire town turning on him, he for a moment contemplates turning over a new leaf… and then absolutely rejects the thought and instead decides being evil is just too much fun, at which point he tries to get everyone back on his side by seeing a funny little song about death while wavedashing. If more shitty villains did this, I don’t think there would be shitty villains.
Best Quote: LET IT DIE, LET IT DIE, LET IT SHRIVEL UP AND DIE! Yes I’m quoting a song again.
Final Thoughts & Score: Look, I’m not gonna mine words here: O’Hare sucks. Big time. He is a prime example of why The Lorax failed as an adaptation. In a story that is dealing with a moral grayness with no easy answers, O’Hare is just a big, blatant target, a dark shade of black in terms of black-and-white morality. He’s like a reject Captain Planet villain with Edna Mode’s haircut.
The movie would have been infinitely better if, instead of him, the Once-ler’s family were in control of the town, and they needed to learn the lesson about saving the trees instead of simply vanishing from the story. They were shown to be overbearing, manipulative, and greedy, and they had a much more personal connection with Once-ler being, you know, his actual family. The fact they abandon him and never really get any sort of comeuppance despite being perhaps the most evil people in the move, egging on Once-ler and taking full advantage of him, makes O’Hare all the more egregious, because there could have been some strong thematic elements that would have tied the film together and made it come off as much less preachy and more nuanced.
But we don’t live in a world where that happened, we live in a world where we got O’Hare. Aside from some genuine hilarity from him at the end, O’Hare really adds very little to the film. I gotta give him a 2/10, but I will say he’s a lot closer to a 3 than he is to a 1; there’s no denying his absolute rejection of learning a moral is absolutely hilarious. I love when villains do that. It’s just a shame those funny moments are wrapped up in something monumentally unimpressive.

I have a complicated relationship with Illumination Entertainment, to be honest I like the first 2 Despicable Me movies and the first minions movie I think they're fun and wholesome and I may loose followers for this but I like the minions I think they're funny and my favorite one has to be Dave.
But then we have their other films which oh boy firstly you should have ended the Despicable Me franchise with the second one the third one didn't need to happen (although seeing the whole marketing of this being Trey Parker first family friendly role was funny).
Hop is horrible and boring and Carlos as half chicken and Easter Bunny will haunt my dreams and yes I remember his name because when my little brother was younger this was his favorite movie and he would watch it all the time and there was no escaping from it because he would take the DVD everywhere and I had to take care of him and watch it!!!!
Traumatic childhood memories aside Illumination saw that these mostly comedic with few tones of heart and sentimentality within the story, okay animation, hiring the first A list celebrities that comes to mind, a mix of songs from classic to new ones and some aggressive marketing worked and ran with it as you can see with the secret life of pets and Sing movies.
But their adaptations of classic Dr Seuss books is how do I say it...it's missing that charm of reading a Dr Seuss book that wonder and sense of imagination I haven't seen the Grinch but from what I heard it's not that great but the Lorax oh boy! I have a lot of issues with this movie and no I am not gonna talk about the Tumblr sexyman and it's fandom but the marketing of this movie is horrible you used the lorax the speaker of trees to promote a car that is not even eco friendly!!
And you ruined the movie by making it too positive I'm sorry but it's the truth let me explain and spoilers for the book I guess after the onceler finishes his story he gives the seed to The Boy tells him about the whole unless someone like you quote and hopes that with it he could grow trees and urges him to grow a forest so that the Lorax and all his friends comeback and the boy leaves and that's where the story ends we don't see if the boy succeeds in his mission or not. Quite a gloomy ending but a bit hopeful.
And there is nothing like that in the movie it's a very happy ending with the Lorax returning and the forest growing back and I know it's for kids it should be happy, say that to Disney who gave childhood trauma with the death of Mufasa and That kid turning into a Donkey in Pinocchio.
Also I don't like the voice acting in this movie Zac Efron what are you doing voicing a 12 year old boy! Except for Danny Devito he was good also fun fact he did his own dub in the Latin American Spanish dub and he did a pretty good job.
And then the songs which they are not that good sometimes but are so freaking catchy I just can't I sometimes listen to How Bad Can I Be unironically.
And I could keep ranting about The Lorax and Illumination Entertainment but I'm gonna leave it here and Hope you enjoyed this and I will see you real soon!
#schibi rambles#illumination#despicable me#the lorax#i accidentally turned this into a rant oh well#rant

I'm gonna explain one of my TMA playlists bc I've been wanting to do that for several months, and how else am I supposed to procrastinate my animatic project at one in the morning?
(here's the link to the playlist bc I think its pretty slappin')
General:
Body Terror Song By AJJ-
I know that it could technically be a flesh song, but I feel like its a bit more vague than that? if that makes sense?
The Afternoon By Lemon Demon-
there's gonna be a lot of Lemon Demon songs in this lol- This one is also pretty vague, but for some reason it kinda reminds me of Michael specifically? I don't 100% know how to describe it.
thrifted youth By dalynn-
Most of the descriptions/reasonings in the general section are pretty simplistic and vague huh? I guess it just kinda fits the vibe? I might be saying that for a lot of the general ones-
Aurora Borealis By Lemon Demon-
this one reminds me of the season five, kinda feels like a jmart song. (also you'll probably notice that there's not much in the ship theme in this playlist. I like to keep my ship playlists separate from my more general ones, don't know why.)
Under My Skin By Jukebox The Ghost-
just kinda fits the vibe y'know? other than that I don't really know.
Turn the Lights Off By Tally Hall-
i can't actually remember why I put this one specifically- that's a bit unfortunate-
When He Died By Lemon Demon-
This one mostly just fits the vibe, makes me think about the really old Victorian era statements.
Ancient Aliens By Lemon Demon-
again, fits the vibe.
She Doesn't Sleep By Anthony Amorim-
Feels like a random statement tbh. also reminds me of Not!Sasha too.
Nightmare Fuel By Lemon Demon-
funky song- fits the vibe- I don't know what more I can say-
Everybody Loves Me by OneRepublic-
I don't remember actually???? I think It was an Elias one??? but thinking about it now that doesn't really make much sense???? I'm gonna keep it tho, fits the vibe, at least it does to me.
Bloody Nose By Jack Conte-
fits the vibe :)
Christmas Kids By Roar-
I think I saw an animatic to this one time? now I can only think of the season one archival staff,,,, my beloveds,,,,
La nuit en matin By OH MU-
imma be honest, I have no idea what this one's actually about, but It lowkey reminds me of the intro music during end of season three- y'know, the clown vibes :D
9 to 5 By Dolly Parton-
Archival staff moment
American Healthcare By Penelope Scott-
I guess it could technically be seen as an End themed one? but I put it on bc I felt like it fit the vibes (are you getting sick of reading vibes? i'm getting sick of typing it)
Butch 4 Butch By Rio Romeo-
mostly just the rat filled piano line,,,,,, and also it fits the vibes to me.
Oblivion By Grimes-
Kinda feels like a statement?? In a way?
Murders By Miracle Musical-
the vibes. hopefully thats the last time i type that for this-
oh yeah woo yeah, we're onto the specific Entities now B) lets start with the one that probably has the most, if not, it sure feels like it-
The Spiral:
Spiral Eyes By Rewenge-
yeahhhh,,,, I know it doesn't really fit the vibes all that well, But the title fits and I like it so-
The Distortionist By Ghost and Pals-
this one is SUPER obvious, but it fits REALLY well in my mind.
Out of Her Head (Outerlude) [From The Film Possibly in Michigan] By Korban Baxter-
I can literally picture this one- I lowkey wanna do an animatic of this one one day.
A Crow's Trial By Vane Lily-
OKAY- so this last one is because it's the song from an absolutely GORGEOUS animation/animatic by Akidachi on YouTube, I ADORE this animation. please watch it omg-
again, I'm like, 90% sure that The Spiral has the most songs on this playlist, definitely not a bias or anything. next up is the mf uhhhh-
The Corruption:
Spiral of Ants By Lemon Demon-
no explanation needed.
Maggot By Slutever-
Mostly just the name, but it's a good song too so-
Sick On Seventh Street By Sarah and the Safe Word-
fits the vibe title and actual song wise.
in retrospect under my skin probably could be here-

Redesign Your Logo (Bonus Track) By Lemon Demon-
Feels like a very web song,,,
Boris The Spider By The Who-
Spider,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Spider Dance By Toby Fox-

The Lonely:
Nobody By Mitski-
C'mon, you didn't think I WOULDN'T put this one on, did you?
This December By Ricky Montgomery-
idk what it is exactly about this one, just,,,, feels correct?
Blue Jay Way By The Beatles-
MANNNNNNN- i love this song, my mom hates it- that's unrelated- but I always just feel like there's fog or like, an eerie sea, or something- while listening to it. it feels very lonely-
I'm a Member of the Midnight Crew (1909) By Eddie Morton-
I have no idea why spotify suggested this song to me, but I will never not find it funny. Anyway- reminds me of the crew on Peter's ship :)
The Stranger:
Rattlesnake By Kabaret Sybarit-
Idk, feels like smth Nikola would sing at jon- idk how else to explain it-
A Mask of My Own Face By Lemon Demon-
pretty self explanatory lolll
The Slaughter:
War Pigs By Black Sabbath-
war.
The Hunt:
The Hunter By Slaves-
maybe this one is because it's because it's litterally called the hunter, and that they say hunter a bunch, but it is fun to listen to-
Teeth By 8 Graves-
I cannot remember my reasoning at this current moment-
The Flesh:
Body By Mother Mother-
the lyrics do be fittin doe
The Dark:
Everything Goes Dark By The Hoosiers-
i mean- everything goes dark- what more do you want me to say-
Dr.Sunshine Is Dead By Will Wood and the Tapeworms-
i think its mostly the song's vibe and the title.
The End:
The Trick to life By The Hoosiers-
the trick to life is not to get too attached to it.
Memento Mori: the most important thing in the world By Will Wood-
remember death.
YOOO OKAY NOW WE'RE ON THE ONES THAT I HAVE ACTUAL THINGS TO SAY ABOUT NOW- at least for the most part-
Characters:
i think i'm gonna go from least to most for this- (spoilers, Jon has the most ones because I care him)
Cryptid Hunt- Demo By Averno, Sushi Soucy-
this one makes me think of the WTGFs,,,,,
You're at the Party (Bonus Track) By Lemon Demon-
makes me think about Micheal Shelley,,,,,,,
Saint Bernard By Lincoln-
Alice "daisy" Toner moment-
Mary By The Happy Fits-
mary keay,,,,,,

Ruler of Everything By Tally Hill-
Panopticon/eyepocolypes time-
Ayooo it's jon time- I really hope I can write out my thoughts in a way that makes any kind of sense- /foreshadowing
A Sadness Runs Through Him By The Hoosiers-
Goddddd,,,,, he's just kinda filled with sadness and survivors guilt, just like, all the time huh?
Home By Cavetown-
the lyrics are just- very him- like- I just gjbdjgsflkjns-
Broken Crown By Mumford & Sons-
frick- the foreshadowing was accurate- the best I can describe it is that the lyrics just???? y'know??? hhh why am I like this sometimes-
Sweet HIbiscus Tea By Penelope Scott-
i'm willing to bet that he never wanted to be the main character-
Honey I'm Home By Ghost and Pals-
I saw a Jon centric animatic to this one time- I can't for the life of me remember who by, But everytime I hear the moth lines, my brain goes ":0" Because I remember there was a time when people kept drawing moth jon- I don't know where that came from but I thought it was very cool.
Who Are You, Really? By Mikky Ekko-
I'm like- actually starting to get frustrated with how poorly im articulating my thoughts right now- this just isn't funny anymore-
Sleep By My Chemical Romance-
I'm not actually sure why for this one- I just remeber putting on my black parade CD, hearing this, and being like, "damn, that do kinda be jon tho-"
I hope you enjoyed my ramblings- tbh, all this sounded and read out better in my head. My words might not make sense, but I do like how the playlist is. also im very tired, maybe this would've been written better if I wasn't struggling to keep my eyes open lol. I'm gonna fall asleep now- or maybe i'll post a spiral themed doodle dump again, who knows. I don't know.
#tma#oh god im literally too tired to put so many tags#i just cant#the magnus archives#playlist#spotify#spotify playlist#my brain actually hurts#im so tired

Fandom song animatic tournament: Bracket 1 Side A Round 3
The other side - The Greatest Showman Musical
"Don't you wanna get away from the same old part you gotta play? 'Cause I got what you need, so come with me and take the ride It'll take you to the other side"
How bad can I be? - The Lorax (Movie)
"How ba-a-a-ad can I be? I'm just doing what comes naturally How ba-a-a-ad can I be? I'm just following my destiny How ba-a-a-ad can I be? I'm just doing what comes naturally How ba-a-a-ad can I be? How bad can I possibly be?"
Baby Hotline - Jack Stauber
"I contend that your drinking eye has never opened I insist somebody will die, and I hate hoping Wishing that the pills let you cry, and I hate coping Someday I will go back outside and see her, okay"
Baby Hotline - Jack Stauber
Propaganda:
jack stauber is iconic for his contributions to the youtube animation community already but baby hotline especially it makes me evil <4
Animatics with the song:
Chainsaw Man
Your Boyfriend
Welcome Home
The Mandela Catalogue
The Owl House
Please be cautious and read the title, description and warning cards on the animatic videos if you decide to watch them. If you've got specific triggers I'd recommend even more caution when watching animatics of fandoms you don't know, since sometimes canon-typical themes don't get warnings.

about me tag game thing
i was tagged by the wonderful @nothingunrealistic! thank you very much ily <3
under read more bc i was not capable of keeping my answers brief this time around
why did you choose your url?
this...was supposed to be a short explanation but it turned into quite a tale so strap in i guess because we are going on a ride. back in 2017 i was just getting into musical theatre rp and i was still feeling too shy to really talk to anyone ooc so i would just wait for people i wanted to interact with to post starter calls so i could just do things in character with them the easy way. So i did this with my friend cam, who posted a starter for me using a lyric from If I Could Tell Her. she linked the song so i could listen to it, so i did and i went ‘wait a minute, is that Ben Platt from Pitch Perfect?? (and other things too, but i only recognized his voice at the time bc of the acappella girl movies)’ and yes it certainly was.
i had zero idea what the plot of Dear Evan Hansen was about at that point, and for some reason based off Just That One Song and the poster art of who i assumed was Some Guy in a Polo Shirt i started to think it was about some jock guy who broke his arm and had an emo/goth friend who had either died or gone missing under mysterious circumstances. also i intuited that Evan had a crush on his friend’s sister but he couldn’t tell her that directly or his emo friend would kick his ass. so i was like mostly wrong, but a little bit right.
oh and i knew jared and alana were characters from the show bc cam said that they were i think?? but i had no idea what their role was. so after listening to if i could tell her, i listened to good for you and all i really got out of that was that evan the apparently not-jock guy had done...something... that really hurt jared and alana. and at that point i finally decided to go look up a plot synopsis and i found out i was waaay off base. but honestly this is why cast recordings should include scene dialogue in the songs bc otherwise you just get soundtracks like dear evan hansen where the songs have like. zero context. we really just go from waving through a window to for forever to sincerely me without like. any reason as to what is happening huh. It’s honestly not a surprise anymore that all those people on twitter had no idea the plot isn’t about gay teenagers.
anyways. cam was writing jared and she made a post at one point about wishing somebody would write alana and i was like ‘oh i could do that!’ (after i had actually Seen a bootleg and finally knew what the whole story was, of course) so i made a multimuse rp blog featuring alana beck, nabulungi hatimbi, chloe valentine and some other characters, and cam started sharing her headcanons with me that alana is trans, jared and alana were close friends when they were little kids but they sort of drifted apart as they got older and their priorities in life changed, jared was the first person alana came out to when she realized she’s trans, etc.
one night i started talking about wanting to pick a more theatre-relevant url for my blog and trans-[character name] urls were getting pretty popular, and at least 3 of the friends i made through rp had changed theirs to coordinating trans-[character name] and i think it was cam suggested i should make mine be trans-alana so i did. eventually i realized the unhyphenated version was available so i changed it to transalana with no hyphen and i have lived here ever since. sometimes i think about changing it but i feel like transalana has become a part of My Brand and i am not so great with coming up with cool names for things.
any side blogs? if you have them, name them and why you have them
in theory, i have sideblogs... i don’t really use them, but of the ones i do have, there is:
emsbookblog - this was supposed to be where i would post excerpts of the book that i’m working on, but i think i did that maybe one time roughly 2 years ago and then promptly forgot about it/got nervous about my writing and was scared to share anything else. the rest of the stuff that is there is assorted writing tips. i don’t really know what to do with it now. i probably should post all my little thoughts about em and anita and caleb there instead of infodumping on my main from time to time, but if i do that then i have to promo a sideblog and direct people over to it which is always annoying to me when i could just do it on this blog which is much easier
dearnovelhansen - this is basically no longer used, but was a sideblog i made specifically to talk/complain about the novel adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen which was about 3 years ago?? maybe? i can’t be trusted to understand the passage of time. but to summarize: i thought it was an honor just to have the story be made more accessible since many of us couldn’t see the stage performance, but i hated a lot of the creative liberties that were taken. my main grumbles are that everyone who isn’t evan or connor is done so dirty in the novel. connor’s still kind of done dirty in the book, but not as much as like. heidi, alana, jared, and zoe are.
horseisle3 - this one was meant to be a place where i could just enthusiastically post screenshots from hi3, but instead it turned into a blog where i occasionally reblog other players’ hi3 content and bitch about how bad the game admins are bc hi3 is the tumblr famous (infamous?) homophobic horse game. the game where it was once okay to call your club store the gulag bc according to their head of hr, ‘it’s just a russian word for prison’ but you can’t say ‘im gay’ without somebody accusing you of corrupting young children who play the game. unfortunately there aren’t very many good interactive horse games out there, so this one is still about as good as it gets. it’s either that or star stable and i don’t care about star stable.
mlaenie - i’ve had this url saved for i don’t even know how long. way way way back in the day when i wanted to escape from the clutches of the onceler fandom i abandoned my first blog where i basically had an alter ego i guess?? and i decided to just be myself on the new blog. i don’t fully remember who came up with it, but one of my sister’s mutuals suggested that if you scrambled the letters in your name you could come up with aesthetic-looking urls. so lauren’s url became lrauen, and to match with her mine became mlaenie, which i abandoned on tumblr after about a year or so? but have continued to use as my main username on twitter, reddit, youtube, xbox, steam, and discord. i barely ever use any of these accounts aside from twitter, steam, and xbox, but yeah. so i’ve decided to try and turn this empty sideblog into a place for video game thoughts maybe. we’ll see how long it lasts this time around.
how long have you been on tumblr?
i made my first tumblr account in december of 2010, but i didn’t understand how to use it at all or how to customize my theme to look cool and unique so i quickly abandoned it. i made a new account in september of 2011 after some kids at school and my sister told me i should and i have been trapped here with varying degrees of activity/inactivity ever since. i have witnessed the rise and fall of the lorax/onceler fandom, hyperfocused on lord of the rings, star wars and back to the future all at the same time, and for the past 4 years i’ve mostly been a musical theatre blog with assorted other fandom stuff mixed in. i feel i have seen everything and nothing, but mostly i’m just tired and bored.
do you have a queue tag?
no bc i don’t use a queue. i’ve tried using it in the past but i irrationally feel pressured to sustain a coherent theme to queued posts and my brain simply does not vibe with that so i just don’t use it at all anymore. Instead i instantly reblog or post several unrelated thoughts in succession and then don’t post again at all for 3 days. the way god intended
why did you start your blog in the first place?
my very first blog was intended to be a place for me to post all of my petz 5 animals’ profile info, but i didn’t have any understanding of how coding worked at all and i don’t think i really wanted to learn, either. so it just sat there, unused. my second attempt at blogging was as a classic rock fandom person, so as you can probably imagine i was pretty pretentious about ‘modern pop’ vs the beatles, the rolling stones, the who, the monkees, and so on. and then i slowly devolved into a lorax fandom blog and everything went to shit so i made a new blog for lord of the rings/the hobbit which later evolved to include star wars and back to the future blogging. and then for the past 4 years i’ve been mainly a musical theatre blog with other random stuff i like thrown haphazardly into the pot. wonderful.
why did you choose your icon/pfp?
because my url is transalana and two of my most prominent lgbt headcanons are that alana beck is trans and a lesbian. i gotta be shouting out @kinqmike though bc she’s the one i adopted the trans alana beck headcanon from in the first place!
why did you choose your header?
in 2017 i was hyperfixating on Dear Evan Hansen (and Be More Chill, but there weren’t many gif-able videos then considering it ran for a month in New Jersey in 2015 and there was only one yet-to-resurface 35 minute bootleg) so i just grabbed a random gif off of google. i really should get to replacing it with a new header of my own though. i just don’t know what i should do for it.
what’s your post with the most notes?
i have lost track of how many notes it has (i think it’s somewhere around 200 now?) but when Will Roland and George Salazar performed Two Player Game on Good Morning America, i posted a screencap of their Jeremy and Michael along with that one quiz answer meme that says stuff like ‘i want to see it grow up healthy’. i didn’t tag it with any ship names or anything because i was anxious about having it show up in the tags, but somebody who reblogged it from me did tag it as boyf riends and i firmly believe it took off because of that. i don’t think i make posts that are relevant enough to amass thousands of notes, even by accident. which is probably a good thing bc if i did i would have to block so many of them.
how many followers do you have?
on this blog? 175 according to the counter. how many of those are still real people and how many are bots and abandoned accounts? i have no idea.
how many people do you follow?
i try to keep it somewhere around 200. i think i’m sitting at 180 right now but i kind of need to go through and clear out the really inactive blogs.
have you made a shitpost?
let’s think about this for a second. i’ve been on tumblr for nearly 10 years. you might even be able to say i’ve made more than one. they’re just not what you would call...popular shitposts.
how do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ post?
that stuff makes me so incredibly anxious that i have to fight the urge to want to yeet my laptop or mobile device through the closest window whenever i read it, so i try very hard to avoid any sort of ‘if you don’t reblog this, i’m judging you’ posts. i find them very manipulative and not particularly helpful
do you like tag games?
yeah babey!! i just frequently forget to do them, but please know that if you have ever tagged me in a tag game i felt incredibly touched by the gesture and the @mention even if i completely forgot to do the thing afterward
do you like ask games?
i do! but also rip to literally anyone who has ever sent me an ask meme bc it takes me so long to answer them. i’m still working on a micro fic prompt from a few weeks ago. also, horrified to realized that it has in fact been a few weeks and not 3 days anymore.
which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
i don’t know that any are tumblr famous as a whole. but probably @neverheardnothing
do you have a crush on a mutual?
in any sort of romantic connotation? no. not that i’m aware of. there are mutuals that i have friend crushes on where i want to be friends with them but i get so anxious when it comes to meeting new people that usually nothing ever comes of it. i’m really not good at small talk or other casual conversation either which, as you may or may not be able to imagine, sucks. i just wanna skip over all of the awkward introductions and ‘hey how are you, how is life, what are you doing with yourself?’ stuff. not because i don’t care about it. i do, but i think most of my friends/the people i want to be my friends are also depressed and anxious so asking these basic questions about life tends to uh. make us all nervous. and i don’t do much with my life so i always have the most boring answers anyways.
i’m not tagging anyone officially bc the @ thing has just completely given up on me at this point, but if you want to do it, go for it. and then say i tagged you so i can read it c:

Once-ler Hill in demo song/ Lorax as a comedy for younger kids?
In the 1972 version of the Lorax, there’s Once-ler Hills.
Although it got cut out, the demo song for Thneedville also mentions a “hill that bears our founder’s name”.
https://youtu.be/itYh7v6VrS8?t=1m13s
--------------------------
Speaking of demo songs, you can hear the music sounds similar but simpler than their completed versions + different lyrics.
Biggering was only a demo. How Bad Can I Be can be considered the finished version of Biggering, but that’s in a very different direction. Imagine how rad Biggering would sound actually polished up and completed. As a demo, it already sounds wild, hearing the final version in theaters would probably knock my socks off! (Seriously, I can’t remember the last time I’ve heard that type of music in a children’s film! Though there is definitely a reason they didn’t use Biggering. Kids next to me were already crying at scenes in Lego Batman, Biggering would terrify a part of the Lorax film’s target audience.)
It’d be cool if there ever was an interquel/midquel that covered the Greedler and the building of Thneedville parts of the film, even if it was only 20 minutes long. Sure, I could switch to the 1972 midway through, but as much as I like the 1972 version, iiitt’s nooot the saaame! The 2012 version added people like O’Hare, the Once-ler’s family, and Norma, and expanded a heck lot on the entire Thneedville setting. As much as I also like How Bad Can I Be, until I can hear the director’s commentary justify it, I will always find compressing so many years of the Once-ler’s rise in greed into less than 3 minutes strange. The movie is feature film length, it’s not like it didn’t have time to cover it!
Then I realised that they turned the Lorax, which really isn’t that much of a comedic book, into a comedy. And as a comedy for younger kids, I think Illumination did a good job of turning a rather grim story into a fun comedic adventure and greatly expanding the world. And it’s a smart move, it’s not easy to market a tragic animated movie to entice parents to bring their young children to.
But I think keeping it mostly within a comedy for kids mostly made it lose some of its potential that having the length of a feature film could grant: How does a seemingly friendly man go so rotten? How does he turn from friends to greatest enemy to the animals? How and why does he continue to ignore what’s happening around him? What was the Lorax doing to stop him? And answering those in more depth, seeing the Once-ler struggle more with what he was doing and his choices.
The comedy bits work really well at the start when the Once-ler makes friends with the animals, and the tragic bits we have at the end are really nice to watch as well. But the transition between nice to rotten would be better with more length. And unfortunately, watching someone go from nice to sour isn’t comedic for younger kids. It’s not funny to watch a main character slowly kill off the environment, harm all his animal friends, become greedy, and trying to justify that there’s nothing wrong. It’s not a very comedic premise, so they didn’t really delve deep into that. The creation of How Bad Can I Be compresses the Once-ler’s not-so-easy-to-stomach-for-younger-kids transition into something short, understandable, and amusing to watch, rather nicely. When I first watched it when I was 12, I knew what was going on, the Once-ler is constantly deluding himself into thinking it wasn’t so bad until it was too late, and I heard multiple kids singing How Bad Can I Be when the film finished.
But now that I’m older, I want more. Heck, even back then when I was 12, I searched up “lorax movie” and had my first encounters with reading tumblr posts because I wanted more. We only saw a glimpse of who the Once-ler was as a greedy man. While it was a very nice glimpse, I still remember what a few kids around me were also saying.
“The Once-ler was dumb.”
“Why didn’t he make something else to get the tree fluff?”
Which is a problem. The point of the Once-ler was that he was supposed to represent that everyone was fallible to greed, not a message for kids to go “Look at this dumb boy!” and separate themselves from the situation. The transition was too short to understand completely why he did what he did, leading some kids to conclude the Once-ler’s tragedy was because he was not smart (which I did too, until my perspective slowly changed as I grew up), which isn’t the case because intelligence isn’t the factor kids should be focusing on. It was his greed and pride, something that was outright stated in Biggering. Greed and pride was also visible for kids to see in How Bad Can I Be, like how the Once-ler commited charity fraud and getting his photo taken for it, but it’s so short and not particularly emphasised that it flew over my head when I was young.
Which brings us back to the problem of the premise of making the Lorax as a comedy for young kids. The studio needs money to make back the costs of this film and to help fund any next films, and kids’ comedies are perfect for doing that. Yet at the same time, the Lorax isn’t the best story to become a kids’ comedies, leading them to skimp out on potential parts of the film that are more serious and need depth, compromising the message.
It’s too late now, but I think having a short interquel for the movie was entirely possible. Normally, I wouldn’t say this, because budget issues and film-making is a very intensive process, but there’s something about the way Illumination functions which could’ve made this possible (maybe. I’m not too sure about how companies manage their earnings for films, how much is spent on promotional stuff and others). They deliberately attempt to make their films made on as low budgets as possible (Dreamworks is experimenting with this too, Captain Underpants is only $38 million budget.) Below is Illumination’s previous films before the Lorax, and the budget and box office earnings (not including merch money costs and gains and stuff):
and wow, Illumination has got some mad gains for their later films:
With those mad gains and low budgets, a interquel is definitely feasible. (but would they do it? noooooooo! There’s probably no profit in making a gloomy interquel short film for a film released back in 2012!)
(yes this was sitting in my drafts for a really long time, as you can see from the dates, I just didn’t finish that last sentence unti now XD)
