I should like, actually do an introduction for this but ehh, we ball
Hello everyone and welcome to a little thing that I accidentally hyped myself into doing despite the fact I have like three other things I could be doing instead—
in honor of Pride month I decided to draw a little something of a thing I have. I call it the Be gay, Do crime collection. In the first drawing it’s the character with their flag(s) or flag color palette, in the second it’s them doing crime. (Some of these guys are a lot more dangerous//less silly than others)
Who these characters are and why them specifically… needs a lot of context actually, uhm— so! I’m technically in multiple fandoms and across them and the many aus I’ve made I realized that I tended to gravitate towards an oddly specific type of character, and the more I analyzed that character type the more I realized it was even more oddly specific. So the joke with this void, au, place, thing I have is that all the people there are literally the same guy. There are around nine members of this little club, and more than twelve honorary members but those guys aren’t as relevant. Yeah :D
And who better to introduce this thing of mine than one of the original three members, True Main Character. Yes he has an actual name, no I won’t mention it, his story is in a weird limbo between au and og story, I don’t want to give people from that fandom false hopes.
Anyways— True Main character.
He’s a cool guy, tho very anxious (sometimes), very much an outside person, is very sleep deprived (tho I forgot his eye bags, sorry), loves trying all types of food, can be very unhinged however, and extremely sarcastic, he’s a bit of an ass. Still, he’s generally a good person, or at least not a bad one, I’m pretty sure he’s in the greyer areas of the morality spectrum
Tumblr media
…. He’s also a wanted criminal. I am not joking. He staged a coup against the government, took over the country for like two months, disappeared, reappeared, kept pestering the government into actually taking accountability for all the systemic issues and kinda succeeded, on top of just casually breaking into the King’s castle to raid the pantry or steal some of the thousands of supplies they have laying around as decoration, some shoplifting, and stealing the magic relic that controlled the day-night cycle and weather that one time. He technically has other ‘Evil’ presentations, but I wanted to draw the one I don’t draw a lot so!
Tumblr media
You get the Gameshow Host. He’s probably taunting the heroes with some stupid questions while magical bombs and lasers are falling on them, as is his usual.
Hope you enjoyed the introduction to this silly little thing, and welcome everyone… to the Redhead and Traumatized Club
(I told you it was an oddly specific character type, I’ll get ref sheets and intros for everyone if you guys want me to)

Hello I’m not sure if this is the kind of request you mean… but I love seeing your dad content about soldier it warms my heart. Is there anything you think of with him and Tracer as Father Daughter?
I love your writings… sorry if this isn’t the right requests.
It still pleases me to see that my Dad76 post is still getting reblogs and notes after all this time. I want everyone to know that I'm still super soft for Dad76 even with my recent hot take of him being an excellent antagonist lol. I'd be thrilled to write some headcanons for you!!
Of all the Overwatch youngins' back in the glory days, Lena was 100% Morrison's kid. Everyone knew it, including her (but except him. . .)
This primarily comes from the fact that Morrison handled the Slipstream incident personally after it happened.
He authorized the project, and didn't think much of giving it the stamp of approval. So much paperwork crossed his desk, and he's not a science man, so he tended to always approve of official projects like that, even the controversial ones (such as Project Echo).
What he did not catch was the probability of success, written in small print and much smaller than it shouldn't been. What he did not catch was the name and age of the proposed test pilot.
What he did not catch haunted him for the better portion of five years.
After the accident, after what he considered his mistake, he took the reins in giving pretty much unlimited funding to Winston's research to bring her back, even though all the signs at the time pointed to her never coming back or being stable ever again.
It's difficult for Lena to remember, but the second time she reappeared in Winston's prototype stabilization chamber, Morrison was there. She was sobbing. Winston was hesitant to let anyone into the chamber, fearing that her condition might transfer. . . but Morrison stepped in anyway, and gave her a hug before she disappeared from his arms.
(Ana gave him a stern talking-to afterwards. She agreed with him in principal but having Overwatch's lead strike commander disappear from time disassociation nonsense would not have been a good thing.)
After that, he mostly kept his distance. He greenlit even more funding for Winston to develop the chronal accelerator, even though Overwatch was already suffering from some funding issues. He said it was an obligation. He was right, but it was also so much more.
And when Lena received the accelerator, and all was said and done, Morrison personally informed her that it was her choice to stay with Overwatch if she wanted to, that she'd be given a full pension and benefits if she decided to return to civilian life. He was baffled when she said saluted him and expressed her resolution to become an agent.
(Would she have stayed if it was anyone other than Morrison? She's not sure, but he was certainly a big factor. To put it simply, he cared, and perhaps she was projecting a bit of her late father into his stern but gentle demeanor.)
Since her first mission during the London Uprising, the two only grew closer. When Morrison needed the perspective of an agent on the ground when it came to making new policies, he'd always come to her.
He also liked to check up on her welfare on occasion. This usually meant stopping by her quarters for a quick chat, and sometimes staying for a cup of tea.
(He doesn't like her tea- she brews it long, hot, and bitter, unlike Ana's usual blends, but he still drinks it. It's a great energy boost, at least.)
Lena took him to his first Pride parade since before the Omnic Crisis when she spotted the little pride flag hanging in his office during pride month. He was reluctant to go, worried about being recognized and mobbed in the crowd, so she created a genius foolproof disguise for him out of a hat, sunglasses, and leather pants. Slap on some makeup, and he was practically unrecognizable. . . and very fabulous.
He had so much fun during Pride that for the next week, Ana and Gabe were confused about his sudden lift in self-esteem.
Pride became a yearly tradition for Lena and Morrison until Overwatch fell apart.
(Which means that he has met Emily! He 100% approves, lol)
Random headcanon, but Morrison always gave her shoulder pats as a greeting.
And when Soldier 76 reaches his hand out to her shoulder, five years after Morrison was proclaimed dead, Lena pulls away, with a mixture of hurt and confusion written all over her face.

Hi everyone! As promised, here’s one of the two most voted fic continuations. There will be more chapters to this story though I'm not sure how many yet. Thank you for reading!

The machine monitoring your father’s heartbeat was the only sound filling the quiet hospital room, where your once healthy father laid unconscious, his perfect, chiseled cheeks adorned with cuts and bruises. Would they leave a mark?

The machine monitoring your father’s heartbeat was the only sound filling the hospital room, where your once healthy father laid unconscious, his perfect, chiseled cheeks adorned with cuts and bruises. Would they leave a mark?
Where did everything go wrong?
Your string of thoughts was cut off by a call from your aunt.
Your string of thoughts was cut off by a call from your aunt.
“Hello?” Your voice was raspy from not using it. There was no one to talk to in the quiet, hospital room but the nurses, who weren't especially keen on chatting.
“How’s your dad, sweetie?”
“They let him out of ICU, but he doesn't look good to me.” Your fingers traced the cuts in his chiseled cheeks that would soon turn into scars, ruining his perfect skin. Your eyes then diverted to his head, thoroughly covered in bandages to protect his damaged skull.
“Honey, I've got bad news...”
“They rejected the case, didn't they?”
“Not precisely.” She deeply inhaled before continuing. “It’s a tough case, almost impossible to win, nonetheless, they're willing to take it. But their fee is a little...”
“Expensive.”
“Yes.”
As expected from the best firm in town, they wouldn't take less than $8,000. Your bank account didn't have enough money to even cover half of it, and with your job at the convenience store, you'd only earn so much to cover your expenses.
“We can take the lawyer that the government provides us with, it would be free.”
“But then I'm sure we’d lose.” You groaned in frustration, using your free hand to rub your forehead. “Don’t worry, I'll find a way to get the money.”
“Why don't we just accept the compensation they're offering? It could pay for the hospital bills and you'd still have some left to pay for your tuition.”
“That would be like putting a price on my father's life. I don't want their money, I want them to make themselves responsible for what they've caused.” The sound of wheels approached the door of your father's room, signaling the nurse was outside with his meds. “It’s okay, Auntie, I'll take care of everything. You can go back home, I know my uncle isn't doing so well.”
“Are you sure, darling?” It was undeniable that she wanted to head back to her little ranch fat away from the hectic city life to take care of her sick husband, but still, her brother was laying down on a hospital bed, fighting for his life.
“Yes, I'm an adult, I'll find a way.”
“Take care of yourself, and don't hesitate to call me if you're having any difficulties. I'll be there in the blink of an eye.” She said before sending a kiss into the speaker, proceeding to hang up.
You sighed. It was never usual for you to ask for help, as you were an extremely prideful and independent person, and you doubted this time would be different.
“Don’t worry, dad. Everything will be alright.”
Three failed job interviews and one more to go. Your feet were killing you, the high heels covering them already worn out from walking to avoid taking the bus. Every penny counted, and as long as your legs worked, you weren't spending any more money than what was necessary.
You sat down in the waiting room of the company, massaging your neck to relieve some tension. College was becoming a burden. Maybe you'd take a semester off to focus on working, that is if someone wanted to hire an inexperienced student.
“Y/n, Y/l/n?”
“Here.” You darted up, gathering your belongings to enter the room on which your life almost literally depended.
You gave all the right answers, earning a polite ‘we’ll contact you’ in return. But you could see that they weren't convinced with your lack of experience, no company in their right mind would be.
As soon as you arrived at your apartment, you slid out of the uncomfortable pencil skirt, tucking yourself under the covers with your phone screen almost hitting your nose.
To take your mind off things, you decided to watch some videos. Halfway in, an ad popped up, interrupting the interior deco video you were watching.
A picture of a girl about your age hugging an older man was right in the middle of your screen. Written with fancy letters, the words ‘make your life simpler’ could be read, followed by what you guessed was the title of the app. Sugar rush.
Out of pure curiosity, your finger tapped at the small icon that led to the app store, absentmindedly clicking the download button. A few seconds later, an icon with the letters ‘SR’ was added to your home screen.
“Log in?” You murmured out loud, squinting your eyes to adjust your eyes to the bright, white homepage.
Just as you were about to click out, the phrase from the ad reappeared, stopping your finger from moving any further.
You could always delete your account if something went wrong, right? Nonetheless, you decided to use a false name, and that's how Melanie Kim’s profile was created. You left the circle of your profile picture empty for now, only filling the spaces that asked about your likes, dislikes, age, and all that stuff that people care about so much.
You knew what the app was for, but that didn't stop you from being surprised when a list of men and women of different ages greeted you. Right then, a small rectangle obstructed your sight, two buttons offering opposite things.
‘Pick the role you'd like to develop.’
Sugar daddy/mommy / Sugar baby.
Clearly, you didn’t have nor the money or the years to be the first, so you clicked the opposite button without giving it more thought.
‘Welcome. You've been registered as a sugar baby at Sugar rush. Meet thousands of men and women willing to finance you for free!’
You hummed.
‘As we're always looking to make our users’ experience better, we've developed Sugar Rush premium, a membership to meet the richest and hottest people in your surroundings. Get the premium version for only $5.95 a month. Click here to get Sugar Rush premium.’
Your finger pad was dangerously close to the blue button, almost grazing the screen of the phone. It was then when you were pulled out of your trance, blinking as if just then you'd realized what you were doing.
“I must be crazy.” You turned off your phone, not bothering to turn on an alarm for the next day. You had no interviews left. You had nowhere to go.
Waking up was getting harder with every passing day. Not being able to call your dad to go out for breakfast or even sending a simple good morning message hurt you deeply. You missed him. But seeing him laying down on a hospital bed, unable to do anything by himself, was even worse.
Ding
A notification filled the silence in your room.
‘Come back, you haven't finished setting up your account yet!’
You scoffed at your past self. What were you even thinking when you downloaded the app?
You simply turned off the phone before standing up to take a relaxing shower. As the water soaked up your tense body, your mind started wandering off back to the app. A million what-ifs filled your head, nonetheless, there was one that remained the most persistent.
‘What if this can pay for a lawyer?’
Your part-time job surely couldn't, and you had no one to assist you financially speaking. The whole idea of paying that ridiculous membership seemed more tempting as your fingers started getting wrinkly under the showerhead.
You decided to take some time to consider it, after all, you still had a week to give the lawyers an answer.
Hot soup seemed like a good option to comfort you, and thankfully, there was a store right in front of your place that claimed to sell the best soups in town.
It wasn't bad, but not nearly as good as the one your dad cooked when you were a kid. You sighed, wondering if you'd ever be able to eat it again. Just then, a woman about your age came into the shop, carrying a couple of bags where names of popular brands could be read. A pinch of jealousy made your heart stir as you glanced at yourself through the reflection in the glass at your side. You looked devastated, your skin pale and your cheekbones slightly sunken, a sign of the lack of rest and food you'd been getting.
Out of pure impulse, you pulled out your phone, clicked on the app you'd recently downloaded, and finally accepted the charges for a premium membership.
‘Welcome, new member of our wide community, click ok to get started!’
Well, no turning back now.
Right after pressing the blue letters with your thumb, you were presented with a list of potential prospects, some of them including pictures, some of them only including name and a brief description of what they were looking for. The minority included their ages, but most left the space blank.
A bunch of old men looking for a youthful, pretty woman to be by their sides, some of them even went as far as writing the weight and height their ideal partner should have. Of course, there were also some women in the look for young meat, but the number of men overpassed them.
About to exit the app in defeat, a profile caught your eye. His pale pink hair was parted, allowing his thick eyebrows to stand out. His high cheekbones made him look like a statue, the details in his face almost too perfect for a mere human. He must be the incarnation of a Greek God, you thought.
‘Jung Yoonoh. 41 years old. Owner of N & C.’
“Should I...?” You asked yourself in a voice lower than a whisper.
He has probably gotten hundreds of messages, so what would be the point of sending one yourself? Your eyes scanned the picture over and over again as the remains of your soup started getting cold.
He was probably the only acceptable man in the whole app, so why not give it a try?
You already spent five whole dollars on it, might as well make it worth the money.
‘Hi.’ Sent.
“Holy crap.” You breathed out, regretting every single action that led you to take such a stupid decision. “Ah!” You squeaked as three small dots appeared beside his profile picture, signaling he was writing a reply.
What if he rejected you right from the beginning? God, that would be so humiliating. His message stopped your train of thought.
‘Hi!’
Followed by:
‘How are you?’
Sweating like a pig, thank you for asking.
‘Fine. You?’ Read.
‘Thrilled. No one had messaged me since I created my account two weeks ago.’
‘How is that possible?’ You imprinted your thoughts on a message.
‘It’s hard to trust people nowadays. I guess people might think either my picture is photoshopped or I'm lying about my job.’
‘Their loss, ig.’ Read.
He was taking some time to answer. Had you said something inappropriate?
‘Hahaha.’
The conversation stopped there, as you didn't know how exactly to answer his message. But a few minutes later, another text from him popped up at your chat.
‘If you're okay with it, we can start talking about a possible arrangement.’
Already? You've known each other for like five minutes. But then again, arrangements were the whole purpose of the app.
‘Sure.’
‘May I ask your reasons for joining the app?’
‘I need urgent money, but my job doesn't pay nearly enough.’ You omitted the part of your agonizing father, he didn't need to know that. ‘And you?’
‘I need someone to be my partner at public spaces.’
‘Alright.’ Read.
‘Do you happen to have some free time tomorrow at lunchtime? I think it’d be better to meet first before making any decisions.’
‘Yeah, I'm free.’
‘Great, I’ll send you the address.’
You thought a day would be enough to prepare yourself, but time passed by quicker than usual, and soon enough, it was time to get ready for your meeting with Mr. Jung. He was only a few years younger than your father, and calling him by his first name wouldn't feel right.
Unsure if you should wear something formal, you threw on a beige (the color you'd agreed on wearing so it’d be easier to recognize each other) summer dress, pairing it with the gold hoops you'd inherited from your grandma to make it look more elegant.
The hardest part of your routine was makeup. Your sunken cheeks couldn't be covered, and only after a few layers of blush and highlighter, you could bring your skin back to life.
On your way to the cafe, you went through the things you'd say when you met him. It was your chance to get your father what he needed.
You stood at the entrance with wide, scared eyes, shyly scanning through the place to look for your date.
“Melanie?” A hand on your shoulder had you jolting. “I’m Jung Yoonoh, nice to meet you.”
What you saw after turning around was breathtaking. A handsome, healthy man, with the most beautiful pair of dimples.
“Nice to meet you.” You managed to blurt out without stuttering, extending your hand to make the greeting more formal. The fake name didn’t seem necessary anymore. “It’s actually y/n, I didn't want to use my real name.”
“I understand. Let’s take a seat.” He offered with a kind smile.
He left you seating at the terrace while he made your order, a latte, and a chocolate cookie. Your fingers played with your hoops anxiously, trying to regulate your breath.
“They’ll bring our food in just a sec.” He offered a warm smile. “Your dress is pretty.” Yoonoh said out of nowhere.
“Thank you.”
“I see you're not a chatty person.” You were about to object, but he started speaking again. “It's not a bad thing! I usually talk a lot, so it’s a nice way to balance things.”
You nodded, seemingly uncomfortable with the man sitting in front of you.
“So, uhm, this is my first time doing this, so I'm not really sure where to begin.” He pulled out a folded paper from the front pocket of his dressing pants. “It’s a bit creased, but I can always print another one. I brought it so you could take a look and let me know if you wanted to change anything. I don't mean to pressure you, but you said it was urgent, so...”
You read the paper under his attentive gaze, making sure not to miss a single word. Everything seemed correct, except...
“Six months?”
“Is that too much?” A small wrinkle formed between his eyebrows, a sign of deep concentration. “Okay, so let's do this instead.”
He took back the contract, pulling out a pen from the pocket in his dressing shirt to correct the original stipulations.
“Four months, and if by the end of them you don't absolutely hate me, we can extend the time. Deal?”
“Just one more thing.”
You cleared your throat, conscious that your following words might jeopardize the whole arrangement.
“Are you sure you want to make it official already?” You had to stop for a moment as the waiter left your orders on top of the wooden table. “I mean, it's not that I have a problem with it, but it's your money and maybe you'd like to give it a better thought.” You resumed.
“The fact that you're concerned about me proves I'm making the right choice. Now, tell me, how much would you like to receive as a weekly allowance?”
Would it be too reckless to ask him straight up for the $8,000?
“H-how much are you willing to give me?” You felt dirty, accepting a stranger’s money like that.
“Whatever you need.” His hand suddenly reached forward to yours, causing every ounce of blood in your body to rush to your face. “There’s no need to be embarrassed, I'm here to help you.” His voice tone dropped, acquiring an almost soothing feeling.
“I need eight thousand by Thursday, next week.” His eyes were wide open, mouth having difficulties remaining closed. “I-I know it's too much, but...”
“I can find a way to give you that money, but I'd like to know the reason why you need it. Just to make sure it's nothing illegal.”
You puffed your cheeks, trying to find an excuse good enough to justify the amount of money you were asking for.
“It isn’t illegal, is it?”
“No!” You retrieved your hand from below his, now embarrassed at the possibility of him having a bad image of you. “I need it for my father.”
“I suppose you don't want to talk about it.” He started at his palm, lips pressed in a thin life. “But when it comes to arrangements like this, we need to trust each other, alright?” You barely knew each other, yet, he demanded to know a very personal detail of your life. Not that he didn't have a good reason for wanting to know, it wasn't a particularly small amount of money.
“He had an accident at work...” You started, fearful of looking up to find pity in his eyes. “I need a lawyer to make his company legally responsible. They intend to throw it under the rug and pay a somewhat decent amount of money to make it go away. The firm I intend to hire is supposedly the best in town, probably my only chance of getting justice.”
“And why don't you just accept it? There's no guarantee that your lawyer will win the case.” You fisted the delicate fabric of your dress, eyes watering as you tried to hold back your anger.
“My father’s life is priceless, and if you think what I'm doing is a waste of money, then fine, we can both look for someone else to help us.” It sounded more aggressive than you'd first intended, but you meant every word that came out of your mouth.
Before you could even stand up, his slim fingers had already wrapped themselves around your wrist.
“I never said that.” He whispered with an almost sad tone. “Come on, sit down.”
He tugged at your arm the slightest, showing off his charming dimples once again.
“I’ll give you the money on one condition...” He raised one of his thick eyebrows. “I’ll go with you to see the lawyer.”
“Why...?”
“That’s my condition, take it or leave it.”
“Okay.”
The days before your meeting with your potential lawyer were nerve-wracking. You'd seen Yoonoh another time to sign the contract, which finally made your arrangement official.
You’d visit your father every day, always hoping he'd be sitting with his arms wide open, ready to hug you. But nothing had changed ever since he first came into that room.
“I’m here to see Mr. Kim.” The secretary's gaze lingered on Jaehyun a few seconds before he finally snapped out of it. “Y/n Y/l/n.”
“Just a second.” He opened his agenda and quickly found your appointment. With a warm smile, he guided you through the corridors of the building, all the way to the elevator. “It’s the only office on the last floor, I'll be at my desk if you need anything.”
Once again, he shot Jae an uneasy glance before the metal doors slid close.
“What was all that?” To be honest, you couldn't care less. But a small chat might calm your nerves and prevent you from throwing up all over the place.
“What do you mean?” He grinned, pressing the button to the top floor.
“You know what I mean.” You scoffed, annoyed at his evasive behavior.
“We just happen to know each other, nothing special.” Before the conversation could continue, a loud ding resonated through the metal cubicle. “Let’s go.” His hand found its place at the small of your back, pushing you towards the glass door. Through it, you could see a black-haired man reading a pile of documents, occasionally raising a photo to examine it with his gold-rimmed glasses supported at the bridge of his elegant nose.
Jaehyun extended his arm over your shoulder to knock on the door, earning an almost annoyed ‘come in’ from the man inside.
“Let’s go.” Once again invading your personal space, he reached for the doorknob with you trapped between his arms.
As soon as the door opened, the man raised his eyes from the documents he was checking.
“What are you doing here, Jung?”
“I knew something was off...” You murmured, loud enough for the man at your side to chuckle.
“I brought you a client, you should be happy.”
“Miss y/n, I suppose. Have a seat.” His demeanor completely changed while speaking directly to you. “I spoke with your aunt last week, she explained the details of the lawsuit, but I must say, it isn't an easy case.”
“I know that, but I've been told you're the best firm in town, I know I'll have more possibilities of winning if you're my lawyer.”
“Best firm in town my ass.”
“Be silent or I’ll kick you out of the building.”
That was enough for Yoonoh to zip his mouth. For a while at least.
“I suppose she also told you about our fee.” He pushed his glasses up using his thumb. “We’d also keep 25% of the lawsuit money assuming we win the case, is that okay with you?”
“Yes-”
“Okay, stop.”
“I’ll call security, Jung.”
“Look at me, y/n.” He squeezed your arms. “This clown is trying to scam you...” He pointed his finger at the lawyer without breaking eye contact. “You’d be spending loads of money for someone who isn't even confident in his abilities. It isn't worth it.”
“And I suppose you'd do better than me, then.” The black-haired man scoffed. “If that's the case, then you can both leave. I'm quite busy at the moment.” With a turn of his wrist, he signaled you to leave the room.
You were fuming, stomping out of the building with Jaehyun right behind you.
“I found a great restaurant nearby, we can go there and-”
“What the fuck is wrong with you?”
“Calm down-”
“Don’t tell me to calm down when you just fucked up my only chance to give those bastards what they deserve.” The sun was starting to set, yellow light casting shadows over his tender cheeks.
“Can you listen to me for a second?”
“Are you laughing right now?” You bit your lip, hard, trying to hold back the tsunami of tears threatening to come out of your eyes. “Asshole.”
“Ouch.” He furrowed his eyebrows mockingly. Oh, how close you were to punch that pretty face of his. “Can I explain now?”
You remained silent, staring at the ground with the smallest frown between your eyebrows.
“How do you think I know Kim Doyoung?” Before even giving you a chance to answer, he continued. “That son of a bitch has been stealing my clients for ages.”
“Your clients...?”
“He isn't even that good of a lawyer compared to me.” He scoffed with fake arrogance.
“You're a lawyer?!” You slammed your palms into your face, whining at the newly acquired information. “Why didn't you tell me from the beginning?”
“Just wanted to swing by and annoy him a bit. Don't worry, I wasn't gonna let you accept his deal.” He winked playfully.
The sun was now hidden, the sky darkening as the moon rose to take its shift.
“Though I gotta say, I'm kinda offended I wasn't even an option. I'm a pretty great lawyer, you know?”
“Sorry.”
“I’ll forgive you if you join me for dinner. What do you say?”
As you walked into the darkness of the streets, his shoulder occasionally bumping yours, you wondered if meeting him was a casualty. Maybe the world was finally smiling at you.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel
Hello, Stuck. Sorry, I don’t know your real name.
I wrote this long ass post to bring some light into the fandom and between the CSs, and I hope you can post it? I’m new in the Tumblr world, but not in the 5H fandom. I don’t quite know how it works yet and, for the moment, I only know your blog and those of @emisonme, @karlaswine, @sun-to-my-luna, @underthatimpression, and @mentesimploria because, in one way or another, you’re all connected to each other. I just wanted to tell you guys how much I appreciate every single one of you, the passion you have, and the hope you keep alive among those who, like me, love the girls. Also, the patience you guys have, especially against the haters, is admirable. I love the fact that you keep going. Because this is your sacred place, as it should be.
This is the very first time I’ve ever done anything like this. I’m what can be defined as a ‘silent fan’. I never commented on anything in the girls’ posts, not even on the fan accounts I follow. I don’t have Twitter. I have Facebook but it’s like I don’t have it because I don’t use it. I have Wattpad (obviously). I recently registered here on Tumblr, and I have Instagram. That’s what I use. It’s the only app along with YouTube that I use daily to keep up with the rest of the world. Especially the American part of the world. I’m Italian, but I speak American English well, and I apologize in advance if my lazy ass hasn’t noticed possible grammatical errors. I saw that a lot of you are into this stuff, so I thought I’d add it just because. I’m a Capricorn Sun, Cancer Moon, and Virgo rising.
I’m gonna turn 29 on December 22, and this is a BIG fuck off to all the people who have attacked you lately for your age. This is personal information that I give freely to make ignorant and small-minded people understand that, in this context especially, age is irrelevant. As you, little fucker who hides behind a computer to attack people just to feel stronger, have a life, we have it too. Like you, we have a life, a job, friends, etc. We also have passions. Passions that yes, my dear haters, also include shipping people. I don’t know why in your stupid brain we’re too old to ship people we love and to give opinions about it. I didn’t know it was something reserved only for those who still smell like mommy’s milk. But anyway…
I became aware of 5H existence just before summer 2015 thanks to ‘Worth It’. Being Italian, however, I had no idea who they were, and to be honest, I didn’t go searching for them. Randomly one day then, I ran into Camren on YouTube. I can’t remember which video I was watching, but I know for sure it was about ‘Heya/Brittana’ (Heather Morris and Naya Rivera/Brittany and Santana, my very first hard LGBT ship). And among the suggested videos, there they are. As ridiculous as it sounds, and although I liked them as soon as I saw them, I didn’t go searching for them. I did it when ‘Work from Home’ came out though. From there, I connected that they were the same ‘Worth It’ group and the same two girls I liked from those YouTube videos. I had officially become a fan. I was screwed. Screwed because, I’d officially entered one of the most messed up and yet most beautiful fandoms ever.
As I initially said, this is the very first time I’ve ever done anything like this. But after the recent events, seeing how many people gave up, it made me a little angry and gave me the strength to speak for the first time. I thought the first time would’ve been through the fanfiction I’ve been working on for over two years, but no. Lauren and her beautiful mouth had to terrorize, disappoint, panic, and make angry 80% of CS, thus fueling the hatred of all the other fandom towards us. So I decided to speak now. Maybe, just maybe, this very long ass post of mine is gonna help struggling CS. Maybe, just maybe, it’s gonna make them reason and bring them to their senses.
So. This, as I think you’ve understood, is about Lauren and what she said in the podcast. This is a reminder of the Laucy situation. These are things we already know and that I want to remind you of because apparently, my lovely fellows CS, either you have a short-term memory, or Lauren has the power to create amnesia in people’s minds and I knew nothing about it. Surely this power of hers didn’t work on me and a few others.
Oh and, before starting: 1) You may disagree with me. It’s normal to have different opinions. 2) You can search for information such as dates, easily on the internet. 3) I’m gonna use nicknames on PRs for fun. That doesn’t mean I hate them. I have my reasons for dislike each one of them as people, but I can assure you it has nothing to do with the fact that they were or are the Camren beards. An example to make you understand what I mean is Ty. I’m a huge Ari fan and I’ve been listening to ‘safety net’ non-stop for two days straight. I really dislike Ty as a person, but I separate the art from the artist.
Okay, that said, I can start.
Lauren said: “I knew I was queer because I fell in love with my best friend when I was like 15.” – “Her and I started to have a physical connection when I was 15.”
Lauren and Lucid Vivisectionist met when L moved to Carrollton in 7th grade. Lucille moved back to Puerto Rico in February 2012, returning to visit Miami occasionally (this explains the fetus pictures with Lucy and Camren at L’s house). In February 2012, Lauren was 15, Camila 14, and Lucy 16. And who did Lauren meet when she was 15? Oh yeah, Camila. C and L did the first phase of the audition, the ‘cattle call’, on May 1, 2012 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Audition where Camila took courage to speak at the (“Oh my God that girl is) literally so beautiful” girl from which she felt intimidated by starting that adorable brief conversation “Hi, I like your shirt”, “Thanks. I like your jacket” just before it was her turn to get in for her audition. In May 2012, Lauren and Camila were both 15 years old. Lauren and Camila saw each other again for the first time on July 25th, two months later, in Miami on the first day of boot camp, and it was Lauren herself who went to Camila: “You’re the Cuban girl!”. In July 2012, Lauren was 16 and Camila was 15.
Lauren said: “She came back into my life when I was 18. I was on tour and I was in my room in a hotel somewhere, and she called me.” Let me explain to you why I think this is true.
Lauren and Luxy reconnected with each other after Lucy’s car accident that took place on May 15, 2015. Lauren was really 18 in May 2015, and we can rule out The Reflection Tour dates because it started on February 27, 2015, and ended April 6, 2015. We can also rule out these other show dates that 5H did: April 11 in Jackson Township, New Jersey - April 13 at Live! with Kelly and Michael in New York - April 19 Lauren was at Coachella with Keana, Britt, and other friends - April 22 at the Worldwide Radio Summit in Hollywood - April 25 at Radio Disney Music Awards 2015 in Los Angeles - May 8 at Channel 93.3 Summer Kickoff 2015 in Chula Vista, San Diego - May 9 at Wango Tango 2015 in Carson, Los Angeles (May 9, rumors about Camila and Louis Tomlinson just because paparazzi believed they were together when Louis was actually together with Liam outside the Project Club L.A., and C who was at the club next door) - May 15 at KDWB Radio Show in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The rest of their program and possible date: May 16 at Kiss Concert 2015 in Mansfield, Massachusetts - May 19 at Dancing with the Stars in Los Angeles - May 30 at G-A-Y in London (rumors about Lauren and Louis Tomlinson this time, born because 5H went to Libertine nightclub with Louis and Niall) - May 31 at Britain’s Got More Talent in London - June 2 at Capital FM in Birmingham, England - June 5 at Good Morning Britain in London - June 6 at Capital FM Summertime Ball 2015 in London - June 12 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii - June 14 at LA Pride 2015 - June 18 at Jimmy Kimmel Live in Los Angeles - June 20 at B96 Pepsi Summer Bash 2015 in Bridgeview, Illinois - June 23 at San Diego County Fair 2015 - 28 June at Show Of The Summer 2015 in Hershey, Pennsylvania - July 10 at Rockefeller Plaza in New York. July 15, 2015, beginning of Reflection: The Summer Tour.
June 27, 2015 Lauren turned 19, and do you guys remember the events of those days? Because I do.
On June 24, 2015, Lauren celebrated her birthday in advance at the famous sushi restaurant ‘Katsuya’. Among the guests were the girls, her mom Clara, some friends, including Jill (the same Jill/Jillian Gutowitz who worked with Zack Sang and who 5H met on April 22, 2015, at the Worldwide Radio Summit, which lasted for three days but they were present for two: 22 and 23. The same Jill who wrote the article for AfterEllen on January 25, 2016, about her experiences with women who denied their sexuality. Remember the story of Lauren Jordan, right?), and Noah Benardout (may he rest in peace). Still no Lucia, not even on the days when Lauren returned to Miami to celebrate with her family before resuming the program from the 28. As I already said, The Reflection Summer Tour began on July 15, 2015, and Lucy’s first public reappearance took place on one of the tour dates, that is, July 27 at Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
From that moment on, we saw Lucille appear on multiple occasions in hops through time. After the July 27th date, we saw her during the trip to Hawaii with Lauren and Keana in September, followed by the concert that the girls had on October 10 in the Bahamas, where they stayed with their families and friends for a few days. After the Bahamas, the mess happened between 5H because they found out about Camila’s departure from the group which initially should’ve been immediate, but for which they fought and gained another year. That, was also the time when Laucy signed their PR contract. As we know from Lauren herself, that was the worst and darkest time for her. That was the beginning of her numbness.
On October 23, they were on their way to Italy and Lauren wrote on her dark diary, the one shown to us in Episode 8 of her Attunements. On October 24, they arrived in Milan for the MTV Europe Music Awards 2015 occurred on October 25, and on October 28, in Madrid instead, there was the interview with Alyson Eckmann, the journalist Camila flirted with while Lauren was sitting right next to her.
Going forward, in November we have:
- Rumors about Lauren and Julius Dein (his friend who is a YouTube magician).
-The release of IKWYDLS including the rumors about Camila and Shawn and Michael Clifford (who was already in the picture) who were ‘vying for her’.
- Beginning of Lauren’s coming out plan which included: 1) The release of The Vamps’ album on November 23rd, that is, a week after the release of IKWYDLS, and which included the track ‘I Found A Girl’. Joe O'Neill, the manager of The Vamps, liked that famous tweet. Despite the efforts to make us believe that Bleahren (sorry for the Italian pun I made here, but ‘bleah’ in Italian is equivalent to the ‘eww’ to indicate something gross, and therefore Bleah-Ren) Brauren was real and that the girl involved was Lucille and not Camila, they’ve miscalculated since Lauren and Brad ‘dated’ in 2014 when Lucy had not yet returned into Lauren’s life. But since the album and consequently the song came out on November 23, 2015, they tried to manipulate people’s minds as usual. 2) Jill’s article that served to connect and more or less ‘confirm’ the story between this Jordan and her childhood friend, Lauren-Lucy.
- December: completion of the 7/27 album + Dina LaPolt’s entry + renegotiation of the contracts (mostly DNA’s contracts) + FIFTH HARMONY MUSIC, INC. created by LAND on December 21 to prepare for the transfer of the 5H trademark, the FIFTH HARMONY PARTNERSHIP, of which they became owners from April 27, 2016 + change of management from Faculty Management: Jared Paul and Janelle Lopez, to Maverick Management: Larry Rudolph, Dan Dymtrow, and Tara Beikae. [All things that were possible ONLY THANKS to the exit of C from the group]
- January 2016, we have Lauren and Lucrezia who came back from Colombia to then taking a road trip for Lucy’s birthday week.
- Jill’s article came out and coincidentally, by pure chance, exactly two days later, on January 27, 2016, Camila and Dinah were hacked.
- On March 9, 2016, Lauren, Normani, Andrea, Dinah, and Keana went to pierce their ears, or rather, Laurmainah pierced their ears, mama Dre and Keana just accompanied them. During her turn, Lauren asked Keana to take her phone to make a video. In the meantime, Mani was filming Lauren, and again by pure chance, Keana, who was in the heart of the frame, took Lauren’s phone as she’d asked, and both the lock screen and the home screen portrayed a picture of Lucania during a photoshoot. Same picture Lucy herself posted on Instagram on April 10th to leave no doubt.
- April 24, 2016, Coachella together.
- Luciana went with 5H in London, in May, during the promotion of the 7/27 album. (+ Camren video of May 28, 2016)
- She was present during the start of the tour in South America on June 26th (in the evening during the concert, L danced Big Bad Wolf for her, but that’s not the famous video, that was on September 5) and 27th to celebrate L’s birthday together (picture of the 27th of them in Buenos Aires).
- June 27, 2016, on L’s birthday, Jill posted a picture with L from the birthday dinner of the year before, further confirming the story of ‘Jordan’.
- August 1, the national girlfriend day, L posted a picture of her and Lucy.
- From August 12 to 21, Lucy was with them. The night after the concert on the 13th in Rochester Hills, Michigan, videos in which Lucilla appeared during Lauren Fuller’s birthday celebration at the hotel for dinner. On the 14th in Noblesville, Indiana, during Gonna Get Better and Big Bad Wolf Lauren smiled in Lucy’s direction who was in the audience. On the 18th in Virginia Beach, Virginia, a fan met Laucy in a movie theater restroom, taking a selfie with Lauren (C posted a picture of her in the dark with the words of Bad Things “don’t think that I can explain it” the same night).
- On September 4 and 5 Lucippe returned. On the 5th in Houston, Texas, the famous ‘super HD’ video took place in which Lauren danced Big Bad Wolf for Lucy, even pointing to her during her verse. [On September 6, Midland, Texas, during the Q&A, Lauren wore the same dress that Lucy was wearing to the concert the night before, and at the same time, she sat next to C and got jealous when C complimented a fan by sending her flying kisses. Ahh… The irony]
Now. Let’s move on to the part of the podcast where Lauren explains about the kiss with Lucza at her uncle and aunt’s wedding, how her aunt “super innocently” posted the pictures on Facebook that her “unreal invasive fans” found and posted, how Perez Hilton outed her to the world by posting an article with those pictures, how she did nothing for a week, and that after thinking “Ok, it happened. People know. What am I gonna do?”, she wrote that letter against Trump as her own way of coming out.
On November 4, 2016, Lauren and Lucynda did the ‘famous’ photoshoot in New Orleans called ‘Bare With Me’. Lauren flew to NOLA right after Halloween, got back to Miami to vote, then returned to New Orleans on the 10th along with her family for the wedding. Lucianna was also with her on the 10th for the rehearsal/bowling with all of Lauren’s relatives. Meanwhile Orange Trumpeter was elected on the 8th, and many celebrities were preparing to write a letter through Billboard against him and his supporters. Labels and management saw it as a perfect opportunity to get her to come out also considering how much Lauren has always been vocal on the subject, and THEY contacted Billboard to get her to participate in exchange of the exclusive of her coming out. All that was missing was the evidence to make sure that there had been no connection with Camila, and that was the reason for the kiss at the wedding on the 11th.
On November 13, the wedding photographer posted those pictures on his website, including the one of the kiss. And I’m sorry, Lolo, I love you but, really? Who are you kidding? The pictures didn’t start spreading because her ‘unreal invasive fans’ found them on her aunt’s Facebook page where she’d posted them ‘super innocently’. The pictures started spreading after the photographer posted them! And you know what’s even more funny? That to see those pictures on the website, you needed an access password. So what are you saying here, Lo? That your ‘unreal invasive fans’ were so good, to even have hacked their way into the website for pictures they didn’t even know existed? It wasn’t your team, was it? Oh, okay. My bad.
Sarcasm aside. The pictures started to spread, Perez tweeted about it on the 14th, and in the meantime Lauren had time to write the letter that was approved by the labels and sent to Billboard (on the 14th), who approved it a couple of days after it was sent (on the 16th), and which they then published it in the article two days later (on the 18th). In all of this, on November 15, 2016, the girls all went to Epic’s party. Since we know very well that most of the cases of coming out as bisexual in the industry made by a female celebrity occur in succession with the connection with a guy, that night there was the PR proposal between Typo Dolour Signal and Lauren that he obviously accepted, and in fact, he was there that night at that party too (Picture of C with a tear mark on her cheek).
Now, the icing on the cake of the Laucy’s PR: Nicole Cartolano. Nicole is a friend of Lecy’s with whom she had already worked together and who also posted pictures of Lauren on November 17 and 22, 2016, one on December 31, 2016, together with Marian Hill taken backstage after Lauren’s performance with them on the 30th, the night before, for the Snow Globe Festival in South Lake Tahoe, California, and the one of Laucy (with the piñata) on January 10, taken the same night to celebrate Lucilia’s birthday at midnight and that Lauren also used to post it for wish her a happy birthday. That was the last public interaction between the two. *Slow entry of Tympans Dollhouse Signalized in the picture from January 4, 2017, thanks to that tweet*.
On January 21, 2017, Lauren and Lucy were at the same Women’s March, but separately (single), and we haven’t seen them together anymore. LuBYE. On March 22, 2017, both ‘Bare With Me’ and the interview article Nicole did with MTV News (she confirmed that Laucy had been together by having an on-again, off-again for years and also said a lot of other bullshit like the fact that the girls were nervous because they didn’t know how their parents would’ve responded) came out. On August 13, 2018, Nicole officially apologized to Lucy for being angry with her for posting the pictures and therefore for having outed her and for having taken part in the MTV interview without their permission. There was also the screenplay made by Nicole’s mom to make everything even more true.
Bullshit on bullshit on bullshit. Number 1, Lauren herself confirmed in this podcast that her parents knew about her, and said how much she loved Lucre’s ‘I’m out and proud’ part.
Number 2, Nicole posted a preview of the pictures on March 18, 2017, so if she really wanted to stop her before the publication on the 22nd, she would’ve had time to do so.
Number 3, Lucita came out publicly on her own with that Spanish post on Instagram on November 20, 2016, saying in summary that she was anything but straight because she didn’t want to label herself (she did it years later by saying she was a lesbian).
Number 4, as Lusia also confirmed in that post where Nicole’s mom left that comment, Nicole signed a non-disclosure agreement form. If she had actually violated it without having had a release and written consent form, she would’ve been sued.
Number 5, if Luciferase really wanted to have that conversation in private with Nicole’s mom, she might very well have done so. She could’ve contacted her and answered her IN PRIVATE for real, and not via IG where EVERYONE saw and took the side of poor, poor Luckless.
Number 6, the biggest proof that shows the hypocrisy of all this, Lucasta continued to work with Nicole. Their last work dates back to November 25, 2019.
Okaay, sure… sure, because it was normal for her to continue working with the person who outed her, wasn’t it? People’s lies never cease to amaze me. For that matter, Nicole also posted a picture of their ‘adventure’ as they made their way to the photoshoot location on November 1, 2017, and continued to wish them both a happy birthday with posts every year.
And lastly, on June 6, 2020, we have the Lucerne’s video leaked (+ old pictures and videos of 5H) where she burned pictures of Lauren and of the two of them together in 2017, accompanied by the tweets occurred two days later, in which she explained that she was hacked and that she burned the pictures for a closure. Then, exactly 20 days later, that is on June 26, 2020, the PAPER Magazine article of Lauren’s interview came out. What a coincidence! In that article, Lauren explained, along with other things, that she’d been in love with her best friend for 7 years.
Lauren, honey, the maths, the maths… If according to your words you fell in love with her at 15, got together with her at 18, and broken up at 20, how can these be 7 years? It’s 5 years… And as if it wasn’t enough, still according to your words, after 1 year and 8 months (from mid-May 2015 to mid-January 2017), 2 months of which public because of the wedding pictures, of the relationship you wanted at all costs, “all in” and “now we’re gonna be in this relationship”, you broke up with her because she was really toxic, and after less than a month, you started dating an even more toxic person without the proper time to heal?? How do you expect me to believe you? And I’m putting aside the fact that I know they’re both PR relationships. I’m speaking out of logic. How? How can I believe you? How does this make any sense?
Personally, yes, I believe Lauren and Lucy have a past. Lauren’s first kiss was when she was 13 (8th grade) with her boyfriend at the time, Dominic, but I think Lucy was her first kiss with a girl. And I think it happened when she was 15, but in 2011, so long before Lucy left. Lauren dated Paul Martinez from June 4, 2011, to the end of July (around 23/24). From after Paul, until her very first PR at X-Factor, Keaton Stromberg, she was single. I truly believe that before she met Camila, Lauren and Lucy did everything Lauren said. I really believe Lauren experimented with her in secret, but I don’t believe in anything else she said at all.
This is my opinion. And in my opinion, Lauren always knew she was queer, and Lucy was the first with whom she could experience the attraction and the feelings towards girls she had always felt and concealed deep inside herself. But they were friends. Just friends. Friends who messed around and experimented together in secret given the environment that surrounded them. Lucy then returned to live in Puerto Rico and they simply drifted apart because of the distance and Lauren’s busy schedule with 5H. When she came back into Lauren’s life, they rekindled their friendship. Just that. Also because, Camila, hello? Camila entered Lauren’s heart the same year Lucy left and never get out of it. Not to mention that Lucy had a girlfriend, Sarah Scott Narcise, before getting together with Nicole Marie Rendón in March 2017. I honestly think that Lucy was also giving advice to Lauren about her relationship with Camila, and I also think that now they really aren’t friends anymore for something we don’t know about, even though I have my theories… But anyway. Lauren needed a beard to be able to come out, Lucy needed visibility for her modeling career and, at the time, also for her music which, however, never saw the light of day. The labels approved because they would’ve done anything to keep their chosen one out of the gay light. Camila also approved. Boom, PR.
I don’t believe all the other bullshit she said during the podcast. Because if they’d been true, they would’ve made logical sense. A sense they’ve been trying, and failing, to give for years. If Lauren really didn’t want to come out, she wouldn’t have done a photoshoot with Lucy a week before the wedding with the intention of using that same photoshoot to come out. She would not have kissed Lucy in a public place during the wedding pictures in front of a professional photographer hired for the event, knowing full well that those pictures would eventually have been published by the bride and groom, her aunt and uncle, and the photographer himself. If she wanted so badly a picture of her kissing her girlfriend, drunk or not, she would’ve taken her fucking phone and take selfies. It wasn’t the fans’ or Perez’s fault. It was the management that was following the plan.
And I’m supposed to, what exactly? Forget all these things, things that have been proofed multiple times in the past, because Lauren, or Camila, or management, or labels, or their contracts, must continue with their stupid narrative? Because Camila must continue to look straight and continue to look in love with Shalt Menstruated because the señorito is about to release his documentary and his album? Because Camila’s movie is about to come out? Because Lauren’s own album is about to be released and because the subject matter of her female-pronounced songs must only and exclusively be related to Lucy? (Although I think her album will be out next year. I think a song with female pronunciation is coming out soon. And no, I’m sorry, I don’t think it’s Burning)
Guys, come on…
Think about it. She used Lucy as a shield to tell part of her story with Camila that happened in 2014. It all fits. Even the story told through songs from Camila’s cocky POV, including ‘Like Friends Do’, ‘Eyes on You’, ‘Cleopatra’, ‘Leave for Good’, and a couple from her last album like ‘Should’ve Said It’ and ‘Feel It Twice’.
I understand why many of you have been hurt by this podcast and by Lauren herself. I understand why a lot of you are angry about the things she said. I see you, I understand, I really do. And everyone is free to feel whatever they want, I’m not saying otherwise. But I really don’t understand why you’re hiding or why you’re abandoning the ship. Authors who don’t wanna write anymore. Accounts closed. Names changed. Hope lost. This, all this, makes me angry and hurt. Because you fell for it. And you know why you fell for it? Because Lauren changed her approach. Leaving aside the part just before when she said: “Even when I talk about it, and I don’t talk about it because I’ve learned to just ignore it because-” and there, I swear I had to pause because I burst out laughing, and I was like: “Bitch, you’re the one who pulled this out of your ass out of nowhere right this second, what are you saying?”. She went on by saying, and she knows us so well because of this: “I just chose to ignore it at a certain point because getting angry to them would it mean that it was real and validate it more for them”.
And it’s true. This non-angry approach of hers, worked like a charm. Lauren’s older, she’s more mature than before. Although she was very nervous, she managed to explain everything calmly. The fact that she was emotional and almost cried in many parts, it really gave an extra boost to what she tried to sell. And I’m not saying she faked almost crying. Hell, no. That was super true and hard for her. I’m saying though, that it’s really easy to manipulate people’s minds, and Lauren used her real pain, the real suffering she has gone through over the years to tell this charade. That’s why it seemed so real. And I’m supposed to fall for that shit just because that’s what they’ve wanted for years, right? Convenient much?
Guys, please. You’re smarter than that, use those beautiful brains. For example, the fact that Lauren said: “I was queer, but she was not”, wrong as you want it to be, and “Camila and I were just really good friends at that time”, yeah, sure, Jan. Doesn’t the very fact that she used the past tense make you realize that it was done to completely detach herself from her IN THE PRESENT? Everything she said was for something. Everything had a purpose. And the goal is always the same. Make us stop shipping ‘em. Putting a label on C only served the Shoestoremila purpose, nothing else. And those were words that came out of the mouth of the one who says she doesn’t like labeling people. The same one who was pissed that someone had outed her before she wanted to. Do you really think she’s that hypocritical?
The fact that she put all the CS in the same box, especially when she talked about the Daddy situation, WAS DONE ON PURPOSE. She couldn’t fail to generalize because their purpose is, and will be for a long time to come, to kill Camren. That means the whole fandom. Not just invasive elements. But really all the CS. The purpose was to make us feel guilty. The purpose is to make us accept that it was never real, and since we care about them, to make us continue to support them individually and not as a couple, even though she knows that the real CS do it regardless. This, is called manipulation, guys.
Think about everything else too. The inconsistency. The holes in her story. The lack of explanations. And the fact that during the story of how it all happened, she jumped from one theme to another and therefore managed to deflect and not completely finish one before moving on to the other, doesn’t it make you understand that she didn’t want to give too many details? And when does that usually happen? She knew we’d analyze her. She knew she couldn’t say too much. When she talked about Lucy, she knew that WE know she was talking about Camila, and with too many details, it would also have been obvious to the others because WE would’ve pointed it out to everyone. I mean, it’s obvious enough in itself, imagine if she’d fed us more information that we would’ve compared in the timeline.
Please, guys. I know that it feels like something’s changed, but it’s not. It’s really not. I’m appealing to all of you. Open your eyes. Reason. I know many of you still have conflicting emotions and feelings, and that’s okay. If you’re still upset, if you still wanna cry, then cry. Do whatever helps you feel better because, especially after the haters have come to bite your asses, you’re entitled to feel the way you do. But please, please, don’t give up. If you give up, you just play their game. You just do them a favor. You guys had invested so much of your time, so much of your passion, so much of yourselves to just, give up. Think of all we’ve been through, especially those who’ve been in the fandom for years. Think about how happy Camren makes you. They were there for you when you needed them. When you were going through hard times. I know they’ve helped a lotta people.
And think about this too. Lauren herself said at the beginning of the podcast: “The news and the media are constantly spinning narratives for your clicks so they can make money”. And what do you think this podcast was for? It’s always the same shit. Have you not noticed how the very same news and media have ALL talked about them? Didn’t you notice how My Oh My magically returned into the charts? How 50ft surpassed the 9 million streams on Spotify? And you still have doubts?
This is instead for the CS who get often angry about their actions. I personally think it’s pointless to blame Lauren and Camila for every single thing they do that has been PLANNED for them. Especially Camila as far as Shonas is concerned. There’s a pattern here too. Lauren had her light PR with Lucia. Lauren then had her heavy PR with Typic Dole Sight while Camila had a light one with Eatchu. And now Camila’s having a heavy one. C’s one is heavier simply because they’re much more famous than PRen (Tyren) were. So, guys, be patient. There’s really no point in getting angry and blaming them. It’s a waste of energy. It’s useless to blame them if they’re gonna continue to do so over the years to come. They’re just still trying to get past their original contracts and survive in the industry at the same time. Sooner or later, I HOPE, they will be free to tell the truth or the truth will come out on its own.
Well, I’m done. Jeez, that was long, wasn’t it? But I hope it was worth it. I hope I’ve cleared your heads a little bit and instilled some hope again. I also hope I made you smile with all those nicknames and my sarcasm. I especially hope that wherever you are, you’re having a good day, and if not, then I hope it has improved at least a little bit with this post. And thank you so much, Stuck. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to use my voice for the first time publicly/virtually. You, above all, keep on being one of the lights and NEVER let them turn you off. I love you guys. Stay safe. Stay strong. Stay patient. With love, F.
I leave you with these two pearls:
Number 1. Lauren said something else too. She said: “Don’t trust me. Go research. Go look this shit up yourself”. I know she said it for a completely different context, but I found it really funny given the situation.
Number 2. This is a small scene that automatically created itself in my head as soon as I finished listening to Wonder. I titled it: The sad and short story of the making of ‘Wonder’.
Enjoy:
*on the phone*
Shawl Mendicant: “Hey, buddy. I know you were a huge Fifth Harmony fan and I know you love my fake girlfriend, so I was thinking… could you help me? You know, I need her to stay relevant, but to do that, I also need to release music and completely take all the credit from other people because, you know, the most I do is change a sentence or two in my style to make people think that I wrote all my songs.”
Sam Smith: “………okay?”
Shawnita Menorrhagia: “So, I was wondering, can I copy your homework? You can totally refuse if you want to, but I’m hoping to appeal to the love you have for 5H and Camila, and maybe help a friend out?”
Sam Smith: “Yeah, sure, you can copy my homework. Anything for my girls. Just, change it up a bit so it doesn’t sound too obvious you just copied it.”
Shonas Mended: “Don’t worry. I’ve got this. Thanks, man.” - *ends the call*
Sam Smith looking at the phone with an incredulous expression and one hand over his heart: “I came out as a non-binary, you insensitive asshole!”
Shoes Mentionable from the other room: “Cameeela! He said yes!” *reaching then Camila and Lauren in the living room where Lauren is lying with her head resting on Camila’s legs who’s running her fingers through her hair with one hand and holding the book that she’s reading with the other one* “You were right, all I had to do was mention you girls.”
Lauren chuckling and continuing to pet Cleo who’s lying at the foot of the couch with one hand: “Told you”, to then adding: “And please, I know you’re excited because of the news but keep your voice down”, continuing to caress Sofi’s head who’s sleeping on top of her with the other one.
Shapeless Mentality: “Oh, sorry.”
Camila without looking away from her book: “Sam’s really nice. I’m sure they would’ve said yes even without the need of mentioning us.”
Lauren: “Hmm, I’m not so sure about that, babe. Yes, they’re very nice, but we’re powerful in their minds, so it was an added incentive for them to say yes.”
Shaved Mentholated: “Who are they? Weren’t we talking about Sam?”
Camila who was giggling at her girlfriend’s words:
Lauren:
Sinu from the kitchen:
Cleo who was nibbling her toy:
Even Thunder, Leo, and Eugene from outside into the yard:
*the end*
Chon Mendable: ‘Wonder’ - Sam Smith: ‘One Last Song’
____
OMG I am speechless. I’m really still digesting this whole story because it’s amazing but I wanted to start by saying hello to you and telling you my name, my name is Marite. It is a pleasure to meet you dear friend. I don’t want to write too much because your words are much more important than mine but I wanted to thank you for trusting me and my blog to tell me your story. That side of the story that, being new and not having been a harmonizer from the beginning, I never learned. I intended to ask for more information about Laucy’s Timeline but what you have told is a gem. A gem that shows that the bastards of the industry cannot fool the fans because we pay attention to everything and it is not easy for us to fall for their shit. I think the power we fans have is so great that if we all came together, we could bring down this whole fucking fake empire that they have created. That said, Laucy’s story is surprising. As planned and how each person involved had to do their part on the chessboard. Incredible. Now that you tell me that story, I think it fits the one I wrote in my once upon a time post. Sure, yours is true and has everything that mine doesn’t. I have tried to keep this blog open for all who wish to come and air their ideas, their thoughts, their tea. And you dear friend, you have been one of the best so far. You’ve given us that support that the fandom so badly needed and I really appreciate it. I also appreciate your humor, the nicknames have been so hilarious and I’m still laughing. Thank you for daring to tell this part of the story and reopen the can of worms of a PR that right now resurfaces with that Lauren interview. With a purpose, it’s true. And something tells me that we will see much more very soon. Thank you for your support, my friend. And you know, you have my blog at your disposal for whatever you need. And if you need to talk or anything else. I greatly appreciate that we can continue to keep this ship afloat among ourselves. Among a group of intelligent people who have been hurt by someone we have always loved very much even though we know the reason for all that. We can’t give up now because if we do it like you say they will win and I personally don’t plan to indulge them in that. Thank you very much for all dear friend and I hope you have a nice day. I send you a hug and I hope you stay safe.

❝Our Rose...❞
Tumblr media
Mirio Togata X Black! Reader X Amajiki Tamaki Warnings: Suggestive NSFW Summary:🌻🐙 Both Mirio and Amajiki both fall in love with a 3rd Year transfer student, and she’s black?!🌻🐙
Tumblr media
🐙🌻When Tamaki first saw you, he had to do a full double-take. It wasn’t his first time seeing a black woman, but you blew all the others out of the park. From your full lips to your beautiful E/C eyes, they bamboozled him. “Hello.” Speaking with a cheerful smile, Tamaki hadn’t noticed you had walked over to him once noticing his stare. Feeling his face heat me, he couldn’t form words. “...hi...” Smiling, a few voices shout your name, making you glance at them before waving goodbye to the male.
🐙🌻 “Oh god. Oh god. Oh god.” It had become a daily routine that Tamaki found himself looking forward to. He’d go to his locker, see you walking with your friends, catching his stare and jog over to him. Which ‘Hi’ turning into a conversation longer than the last, before your friends dragged you away.
🐙🌻 Yet today was different. You were walking alone and a lot earlier than usual. Spotting the shy-male, you raced over to him. “Hey, Amajik-” Cutting yourself off, Tamaki had picked up when you had become nervous, not turning red like the other girls, but you would press your lips together in a nervous smile. Realizing your mistake, Tamaki couldn’t help but smile. “Y-you can call me Amajiki...if you want to.”
🐙🌻 From there on, you called him Amajiki and on special occasions, Tamaki would call you Y/N. He’d even built up the courage to ask for your phone number, which you gave him gladly.
Tumblr media
🌻🐙Unlike his elf-eared friend, the moment Mirio saw you, he was lost for words and immediately wanted to know you. You had been at your locker, gathering things to head home. Just then, only for a random blonde-haired man walked up to you and fell through the ground.
🌻🐙 Panic crossed your face, only to hear him chuckle and say oops before reappearing. “There goes first impressions. I’m Mirio Togata!” With the largest smile, he held out a hand to you. Your smaller hand taking his with a smile. “Y/N L/N or L/N Y/N, but you can call me Y/N.” and he sure did. Every time he saw you, you could hear him yell your first name before crackling a terrible joke.
🌻🐙Mirio could easily remember the first time he cracked a pun. He watched you try to keep straight, before a small smile spread across your face, before a full-blown out laugh. The reaction immediately blew him away. He had expected either for you to not laugh at all, or fake a cutesy laugh, but what he received was far much better. Your laugh rang down the halls, which made Mirio laugh with. From that day on, he would purposely tell you the worst puns, just to watch you struggle to hid you smile before breaking out into a laugh.
🌻🐙 Yet today was different. You weren’t at your locker. Frowning to himself, Mirio slightly cursed himself for missing the chance to hear your smile. “Mirio!” Joy spread through his body and he happily turned around, seeing you walk beside Tamaki with a smile.
🌻🐙 “I didnt know you knew Tamaki.” You nodded happily and looked between them. “I didnt know you…. you knew Mirio...” Mirio’s widen seeing how much Tamaki’s stutter decreased around you. “Oop, I guess I’ve never mentioned it, but we know now. I thought we could all hang out and get ice cream.” From then on, you became the three amigos and did everything. Sometimes people confused you for being part of the big three, only for you to have to correct them and say it was Nejire. Yet she never seemed to take it any offense, and you two became close friends.
🌻🐙 Today was different. It was one of the rare days you were gone, living the two slightly sad, but able to easily talk about their feelings for you. “At once.” Tamaki nodded, and they both counted down.
“One.”
“T-two”
“Three.”
“I like her.” The two best friends stared at each other, each with an equally shocked looked. The other had always assumed that their friend was in love with the H/C-haired female, but hearing them say was soul-crushing. “Will….will she have to c-choose?” Tamaki's thoughts ran with all the ways he would lose to Mirio and sighed.
🌻🐙 While Mirio thought of all the ways, they could both have the H/C-haired girl. Mirio firmly believed he couldn’t live without her, and he wanted to feel her chocolate skin against his pale ones. The contrast was already beautiful, from the times Mirio accidentally(purposely) brushed their hands together.
🌻🐙 “What do you like about Y/N?” Mirio had become curious, Tamaki wasn’t the type to just crush on anyone. Watching his friend fidget in his seat, before softly speaking. “I… I like her voice and how she says some things… they sound different… and when she speaks in English…. it’s…. it’s different. Though I do like her nose… she’s self-conscience about it being bigger than the other girls, but..but it’s adorable, but I also like her t-thighs.” Feeling guilty for the last part, Tamaki couldn’t help himself. In his eyes, you had the perfect body, and he often imagined him resting his head on your thighs. “W-what about you?”
🌻🐙 “Her laugh! She laughs so full-heartedly and it never feels forced. Her hair, its so… so different and like defies gravity and she can do so many hairstyles. Though I do like her butt, it seems like it would fit perfectly in my hands.” Laughing at the last part, Mirio prided himself on being respectful, but you and your body alone does some many things he couldn’t help himself but to bust one out at the thought of you.
🌻🐙 “I want her…” Watching Tamaki, he put on a brave face. “Then let’s go ask.” Shock spread across Tamaki’s face as Mirio stood and, pulling his friend with them.

🌹Feeling bad for skipping school, but your mom was heading back to America and this would be the last chance to eat some homemade cooking for a few months before the next holiday. Waving your mom’s taxi goodbye, you couldn’t bring yourself to go to the Airport or risk breaking down and calling her Mommy or Mama and beg her to take her with you, but you already knew she would wave you up, call me sensitive, or threaten you with a whoopin’ even though you were far too old and legally an adult.
🌹“Y/N!” I raised a brow and turned to see Tamaki and Mirio walk towards me. Smiling at them, I wiped away the goodbye tears. “Are you alright?” Worry crossed their features, but you gave a light laugh. “My mom just left and ya know.” They nodded, and you offered them some food your mom made, which comprised baked beans, greens, macaroni, ribs, salad dressing, and cornbread with rolls.
🌹 “My mom made a lot. I can make you a plate.” The two looked at you, not exactly understand what ‘make you a plate’ meant chuckling, you explained to them what I meant. “That makes a lot more sense.” Making them both a plate, I watched them eat, both looked stare struck. They never had eaten this type of food, you explained to them it was soul food, and Mirio excited explaining to you, that he had seen it on TV and though he had tried it when he went out, this was completely different.
🌹 “I wished you met my mom. I would make her bust out the southern accent and call you ‘Sugar’.” Tamaki wiped his mouth and spoke hesitantly. “Maybe, maybe you could do it for us…” They watched your face turn into one of embarrassment and you mumble an apology if it was bad.
🌹 “Sugar, I like ya both.” Speaking in English, the two seemed to melt. They couldn’t understand a word, but what they assume the southern accent was, it was amazing.
🌹 “What did you say?” Looking at Mirio and Tamaki, you gave a nervous smile.
🌹“Sugar, I like you both.”
Tumblr media
🌻🌹🐙 That’s how it happened, they both ended up confessing and soon you all started dating, like two ends of the scale, you’re a perfect balance and let’s say Nejire was ecstatic, already demanding to be your bridesmaid. Even though that was a faraway future, no one would be surprised if Mirio proposed now.

What if... 10c
First off, right away, I know some were looking forward to a Mandorin wedding and Grogu joining them, but truth be told, the What If story would have ended up on 500k too if that was to happen, because the boys are still so very young and I love exploring their lives and their first times for everything too much to do a big time jump... So my deep apologies to the ones who were waiting for that, but hope that some sweet teenage feels can soothe the disappointment a little. And, yeah, while we might not reach that point in this fic, of course these two got married and adopted the little bean, just a bit later on in life <3
Second, this is a monster so beware of a chaotic mess of plenty of POVs behind the cut. The main story was Dulcy’s but here she shares it with the others. Beware of feels and maybe a familiar face or two ;)
And, again, THANK YOU to the supporters of this fic. I appreciate every kudos, re-read every comment a worrying amount of times and cherish the reblogs like beskar! (You guys have some of the best tags ever xD )
And Sprungich, this chapter is for you! <3 With the lovely coffee you provided, feel free to send me a message if there is a particular one-shot you would like to see happen! <3

What if Dulsissia hadn’t died, what if she had grabbed Corin and fled? What if she met Davarax? What if…
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10a Part 10b
Epilogue Everyone:
They have six entire months of just blissful happiness and fawning over their new family member, then Zev disappears. Again.
Dulsissia hates when she does that, but Davarax knows there is little they can do about it, except let her know that she’s always welcome home.
After nine days without a word, Zev’sonya reappears.
Standing right outside the entrance door, her face a mask of defiance as usual, Zev sticks her chin out. Can my friend stay here too?”
Davarax shrugs. “Are they in trouble?”
“Yeah.” Zev replies. “His family is a bunch of mean jerks. He needs a safe place.”
Instantly filled with empathy, Dulsissia steps up next to Davarax. “Of course, baby.”
“Awesome.” Zev turns and gestures for her friend to step forward. “I said they were cool. Come on.”
Davarax instantly places his hand on his blaster while Dulsissia looks like she wants to scream but she’s too shocked to make any sound.
“This is Mose.” Zev’sonya declares with a grin.
A massive Hutt glares at them.
The silence stretches out until Zev’sonya reaches out and smacks the Hutt across the stomach. “Say hello, idiot.”
“Hello.” Mose grouses. A big drop of drool slides from his mouth.
Struggling to regain her words and the ability to form a comprehensible sentence, Dulsissia looks from one to the other until she ends up back with the Hutt. “Uhm, hello. N-nice to meet you?”
“He stays outside.” Davarax growls, not having that thing anywhere near where his children sleeps.
Zev’sonya frowns, but the Hutt nods and doesn’t seem surprised by the order.
A good thirty minutes later, Dulsissia is shoulder by shoulder with Davarax as they stand there and look out at where Corin and the others are cautiously approaching the Hutt, driven by youthful curiosity and bravery.
“That’s a Hutt.” Dulsissia says.
“Mhm.” Davarax confirms.
They continue to stare for a while, then she speaks again, a little worried this time. “What… what do Hutts eat?”
The size of their new arrival says whatever they eat, there will have to be a lot of it. Davarax is not thrilled at the idea of having to get even more credits to feed a Hutt. “Whatever doesn’t run fast enough, I think.” Davarax mutters. “Better keep an eye on that one, ner riduur.”
Dulsissia studies the Hutt. “He doesn’t seem… evil?”
“He’s a Hutt. I’ve seen what they can do.” Davarax declares in a hard voice. “They have their reputation for a reason.” He lets out a soft breath. “If he hurts one of our kids, he’ll find out that we Mandalorians have ours for a reason too. I will skin him alive.”
“If he hurts any one of them, you will have to get in line.” Dulsissia says. “But he hasn’t harmed anyone yet.”
To Davarax’ irritation, she then walks over to join in on the welcoming committee. She introduces herself, tries to put on her polite smile and only shudders a little at the drool dropping from the creature’s mouth and soaking his belly. “So, tell me, how did you meet our Zev?”
The Hutt gives her a blank stare. “She robbed me. I tried to kill her and she offered me a job.”
Dulsissia blinks. “Oh.”
Zev’sonya grins.
Davarax is not amused.
-
The day passes, so does the next and soon a week, and the Hutt does not harm anyone or try to eat any of them. Mose mostly keeps to himself. He sleeps in the shed Davarax and Din had set up for the speeder bikes, eats less than what a Hutt normally would and doesn’t really speak unless spoken to.
Davarax doesn’t relax, but he won’t end the Hutt’s life before he gives him a reason to as Zev’sonya really seems attached to him for some reason, almost to the point where he rivals her friendship with Din. So he watches and waits.
While he has trained and taught no small amount of children, Davarax have no real experience with babies. They are mystical beings to him, beautiful little wonders with endless potential, and his daughter is very much that. She amazes him when she starts to crawl around with curious determination to explore the world without any sign of fear. If something scares her, she watches it and frowns, but she will not back away and only cries when in pain.
There are moments when Davarax fears his heart will physically burst with pride.
So the horror he feels when he takes his eyes off his daughter for just a moment to reply to a message from Dulsissia, who is on a supply run with Corin and Din, and finds her gone; there are no words to describe it.
She’s not walking yet, but that little girl crawls at lightspeed when she sees something she wants to investigate and something must have caught her eye.
Davarax runs, panic snapping at his heels when he sees the doors are open to let some of the breeze into the too warm house, and his hand goes to his blaster as he sees his precious daughter having made it just outside the entrance door and is struggling to sit up in front of the massive Hutt standing there.
Nonono! Davarax can’t breathe, the fear is too strong and his fingers fumble at the hilt of his blaster and can’t quite get a grip. He’s never failed to draw his weapon before.
The girl reaches up and makes a curious coo.
Mose eases himself down, watches her for half a second, amused by her grabbing hands, then slowly reaches out and holds out a finger to her, which she eagerly takes a hold of and starts exploring.
Davarax’ panicked run morphs into a slow trot and then an awkward halt. He can’t quite believe what he’s seeing.
Unaware of being watched, Mose’s mouth eases ever so slightly into a faint smile. His big eyes give a slow blink with a benign softness that doesn’t belong in a terrifying and cruel Hutt facing the offspring of the enemy.
And then he notices Davarax.
Mose quickly pulls himself back up into his usual towering posture, but him yanking his hand away unsettles the little girl and she topples backwards.
Another fierce jab of fear cuts into Davarax, but before he can do anything; Mose curls his tail behind her and prevents her from falling. He doesn’t take his eyes off Davarax while he does it, keeps staring, keeps holding himself upright and a big glob of drool soon leaks from the corner of his mouth.
Davarax frowns. He’s starting to put some pieces of a puzzle he didn’t want to see together. That posture is not the Hutt’s arrogance, as Davarax had concluded earlier, this is a defensive pose. This is an intimidation tactic to fend off attacks, not seek them out. And the drooling? Now that he thinks about it, Davarax can only remember the Hutt drooling around him and Dulcy.
-He’s scared. The realization comes sudden and hits hard.
And shortly after it, a question arises. How old is he? Mose is far from the tallest Hutt Davarax has ever seen and his body mass is skinny compared to them, it kind of says oversized teenager or young adult. The life expectancy for a Hutt would make them slow developers, no? He might be older than Davarax and Dulcy put together, but still a kid by Hutt standards, and Davarax never once considered it. A Hutt foundling? That’s one for the legends.
Walking over, Davarax bends down and picks up his daughter, noting how Mose cautiously withdraws his tail and curls it protectively around himself. More drool is slipping from his mouth.
Somehow Zev’sonya had seen this side of Mose, or sensed it somehow, and decided to bring him home instead of leaving him to be devoured by the other Hutts. His baby daughter had shown Mose nothing but curiosity and trust. Davarax decides to do the same. He looks over at Mose, who is barely breathing, and nods towards the house. “You can come in.”
For a second there is confusion on Mose’s face and then he mumbles; “The shed is fine.”
A thick dollop of drool hits the ground with a splat. That’s going to be annoying indoors.
“It’s not. You are a guest here.” Davarax heads inside again but pauses in the doorway. “Come on.”
Mose cautiously does as he’s told. He carefully squeezes in through the door and follows Davarax down the hallway. Eyes flickering nervously from doorway to doorway, drooling non-stop and twitching fingers reveal how uncomfortable he is, but Davarax feels a pinch of actual guilt when he stops by the room he wants to place the Hutt in and he turns around to see Mose no longer going for the towering intimidation pose but actually shrinks and somewhat cowers anxiously. Inside the house, the Hutt is at a disadvantage. His movements are restrained and Davarax is armed.
“I’m not going to hurt you.” Davarax reassures him, hoisting his warbling daughter a little. “I know I haven’t been the friendliest and I apologize. I thought that you… Well, I thought wrong. And I’m sorry.” He turns and pushes the button to open the door to the room used for storing furniture. “I’ll get the others to help clear it out, but you can fit in here, right?”
“The shed is fine.” Mose mumbles.
“Yeah, you’ll fit in here.” Davarax then realizes something. “But we don’t really have Hutt beds. Will have to make one.”
“The floor is fine.” Mose mumbles.
“I’ll ask Barthor to set up some calculations. It’s going to have to be strong.” Davarax sighs. “Okay, so what else will we need. Maybe-”
“What’s going on here?” Zev’sonya’s voice is sharp. She stalks forward and places herself between him and Mose.
Davarax nods towards the open room. “We need to get the others and clean this out. For Mose.”
Zev’sonya blinks with surprise and then, for the very first time, she gives Davarax a genuine and bright smile. “Really?”
Momentarily stunned by the sweet, happy side of her, usually hidden behind frowns and scowls, Davarax has to clear his throat. “Yeah. Really. We can’t have guests sleeping out in the shed.”
“The shed is fine.” Mose mumbles.
“I’ll get the others.” Zev’sonya declares and runs off.
Davarax watches her, gives a faint shake of his head in amazement, then looks over at the awkward and heavily drooling Hutt. He sighs with a faint smile. One more troubled youngster. Why not.
-
Barthor is heading back to his speeder bike after finally getting his hands on the last computer chip he needs for his little project. He’s parked right outside of the small town and it shouldn’t take more than fifteen minutes before he’s back home.
It shouldn’t, but it does.
Because as he steps outside the town walls, something wraps itself around his ankles, tightens and he drops like a roped tauntaun.
Training kicks in. Barthor instantly reaches for his blaster and his blade, seconds before he’s rolled over on his back to face his captor.
Blinking surprised, Barthor forgets to draw his weapons.
“Hello.” A voice says.
“Uh…” Barthor replies. “Hello?”
“They say you are very clever. Is that true?”
Barthor doesn’t do modesty. “I suppose so.” He gives his restrained ankles a pointed look. “Is that why you roped me? To ask me if I’m clever?”
“Maybe.” There is a flick of a wrist and the rope loosens so he can free himself. “Your friends seem more brawn than brain, which made me curious about you.”
Barthor gets up, a little tense. “They’re more clever than this entire town put together.”
“Loyal too?” A thoughtful hum. “You really are interesting, Barthor.”
“Wait. How do you know my name.” Barthor takes a step forward as they step away. “W-what’s your name?”
“Kaleo.”
“Do you have to go?” Barthor shrugs a little. “You can’t just rope some guy, ask him if he’s clever, insult his family and then walk away without an explanation, you know?”
A soft laugh. “I told you; I find you interesting.”
“The feeling is mutual…” Barthor mumbles. Then he twitches when they step away again. “Can I see you again?”
“Sure.”
“When?”
“When you find out where I live.”
Puzzled, Barthor shakes his head. “Why can’t you just tell me?”
“Because you’re the clever one.” Is the reply. “You’ll figure it out.”
-
With the constant adding to their family, it comes as quite the shock when they lose one.
Davarax, Din and Paz are at a marked on the neighbouring planet when Din suddenly goes from half-asleep to full alert and shaking with eagerness.
Before Davarax can ask him what is going on, Din runs off.
It’s not difficult to track him down and when he does, Davarax instantly realizes why Din had reacted the way he did. He remembers the clothing on the corpses that littered the streets where he’d found Din and the man talking to Din right now is wearing that very thing.
It’s Din’s tribe. What’s left of it, anyway.
It’s a handful of people who have set up some stalls at the end of a marketplace. A couple of kids are running around in outfits similar to the one Din had worn when Davarax had brought him back to the Covert that first time.
Din is talking in a language he barely remembers, struggles a bit with the words and pronunciation, but the smile on his face is something Davarax can count on one hand he’s seen in the Covert. And when they go back home, there is a distance in his eyes that wasn’t there before and a heavy sadness settles in the pit of Davarax’ stomach.
Back home, Din instantly seeks out Corin to tell him about what had happened and for once he is the one eagerly talking while Davarax and Paz exchange quiet looks.
For the next week, Davarax spends no small amount of hours checking out the story of these people wearing clothes from Din’s tribe. He stalks and spies and learns as much about every individual as possible. He has to know they are who they say they are. He has to know they are good people.
They are.
Meanwhile, Dulsissia hugs Corin a little closer and a little more often that week, unable to explain to him why because she has a weak hope that she, Paz and Davarax might be wrong.
They’re not.
Din wants to go back and talk to them again and once he does, he learns that they are about to leave for the next planet on their path. After losing their home, they lead a rather nomadic life, searching for others from their tribe and lost relics to reclaim. They ask if Din will join them.
“Please don’t go…” Corin asks, tears in his eyes, holding on to Din’s arm as if he would float away into space if he didn’t.
“It’s just six months.” Din reassures him. “Then we are coming back here a-and we could-”
“What if we’re gone by then?” Corin blurts out, absolutely miserable.
“Then I’ll find you.” Din promises, reaching out and placing his hand behind Corin’s neck. “I’ll find you, okay?” He leans in and rests his forehead to his. “Stay safe. Look after the others. And we’ll talk again in six months.”
Silent tears running down his face, Corin gives a faint nod.
Din walks over to Dulsissia and lets her hug him, kiss his hair, squeeze his face and kiss his forehead with a patience he’s never show before. He even holds on to her a little longer than usual. Paz is furious and refuses to utter a word. Raga mutters for Din to look after himself. Zev’sonya is nowhere to be found. Barthor gives him a brief hug and wishes him luck.
Davarax waits a small distance away from the others. When Din walks over to him, Davarax has to clear his throat to speak. “You got everything you need?”
Din nods.
A heavy silence hangs between them for a moment before Davarax tells him in a quiet voice; “If you change your mind, if something happens, if… if anything, you send me a message and I’ll come for you. Day, night, one day from now, one week or a month, it doesn’t matter. You always have a place here, Din.”
Din nods and looks away, trying to hide the tears in his eyes.
Davarax hesitates before speaking again. “Din, I…” I’m sorry. I’m so sorry I failed you.
Din looks back at him.
“Be careful out there.” Davarax says, hating himself for his cowardice. “And remember, if you need us, if you need me, I’m here. Always.”
Din nods again, a couple of tears breaking free and he turns and stalks towards where his tribe is waiting for him.
Dulsissia absently pulls Corin close as he heaves for air between the tears.
Paz turns and stalks back on board the Razor Crest, Raga follows, then Barthor, Dulsissia and Corin. Davarax is the last to leave, his eyes on Din for as long as he can see him...
-
Corin’s heart is broken. His best friend is gone. No, not just best friend… He and Din was… Whatever they were, it was special. It was not like anything he’s ever felt for or with anyone else.
A heavy sadness settles over their family for a long, long time. They all miss Din and it feels like they are missing a limb.
His parents find distraction in his sister. Paz and Raga find comfort in each other. Zev’sonya runs off and does whatever she does. Barthor keeps heading into town to be with this Kaleo person. Corin is the only one who can’t stop thinking about how Din isn’t there any more.
None of the girls and boys in town can take his mind off Din. Nothing can.
Which is probably why Davarax agrees to let Corin come along on a bounty hunting job. Usually he goes alone on these, but Corin asks and after a brief discussion with his mother, Davarax agrees.
“You do as I tell you. Understand? This is a hunt and they will do whatever it takes to escape. Including shooting us.” Davarax warns Corin as they enter the city to find their bounty.
“I understand.” Maybe getting shot at might cure the numb feeling inside?
It does. Once the first blaster shot flies by him, Corin yelps and flails and forgets all about being sad. He has to focus on surviving instead.
Davarax goes after their prey like a Corellian hound. Corin has gotten so used to seeing his mild and calm side that he’d almost forgotten how dangerous and brutal his dad can be if he wants to.
They chase after their bounty into an abandoned building so worn down it is barely standing.
“Stay here.” Davarax orders and uses his jetpack to fly up the middle of the winding stairs.
Corin stays, but when he leans forward against the railing to look up to see if Davarax had caught his prize; the railing just gives in and Corin falls.
Luckily he doesn’t drop more than a floor before he slams into the ground, but it’s enough to knock the air out of him and scramble his brain for a bit. (If not for his helmet, his brain would probably have been scattered all across the floor…)
When his blurry sight clears up, Corin realizes that what he thought were white pillars are moving and he rolls over on his back with a startled sound to see the storm troopers walking towards him. He fumbles for his blaster, but a kick to his hand sends the weapon sliding across the floor and then a storm trooper is pointing their blaster right at his t-visor.
Corin closes his eyes and prepares to die.
“Wait.” One of the troopers says. “Wait. Stop. Wait.”
Corin opens one eye and sees one trooper grabbing the arm of the one aiming at him.
“Look. That’s a kid.” The trooper preventing the other from shooting says. “You can’t shoot a kid, man.”
“He’s right.” A third trooper says, appearing next to them. “We don’t shoot kids, remember?”
“But this one has seen us.” The one with the blaster growls.
“The kid is not going to say anything.” The one who had prevented him from shooting says, then turns to Corin. “Right? You’re not going to say anything? You never saw us, kid. Right?”
Corin nods. Sure. Whatever. He’ll agree to anything as long as they don’t shoot him.
“Put the weapon down, Pat.” The third one says and takes off his helmet. It’s a man in his early twenties with dark hair and tired eyes. “Listen, kid, I’m sorry. We thought you were someone else. You run along.”
Growling, the one called Pat reluctantly holsters his blaster. “You better be right, Dee. If this kid gets us killed, I will never forgive you.”
The one who had stopped him from shooting reaches out a hand towards Corin. “Come on, kid. Upsy daisy.”
Dazed, not sure what the right thing to do is, Corin slowly reaches out and lets him pull him up on his feet. “T-thank you…”
“Don’t worry about it, kid. But you better get out of here.” The man says.
Dee puts his helmet back on. “Drop is right. Go.”
Corin takes one step, but then something heavy lands behind him.
“There you are, little Mando.” It’s the twi’lek man Davarax had been hired to hunt down.
Pat reaches out, grabs Corin’s shoulder and yanks him towards him and the others. “Stay down, kid!”
A mess of blaster fire follows. Corin is boxed in by white armor as the three take up a defensive stance around him and he can’t see what happens, just hears the battle. It’s over within a minute.
When the storm troopers step away, Corin sees the twi’lek lying there, dead, with a blaster in his hand that he’d meant to use on Corin.
“Someone will have heard that.” Dee says. “We have to get out of here. If the others find us, it’s all over.”
“Do you think we’ll get a trial?” Drop asks with a touch of hysterical humour.
“No. They’ll execute us in this shitty place.” Is Pat’s deadpan reply.
Dee turns back to Corin. “Go. Hurry. You don’t want to be here either if the imperial army decides to check out this place. And be careful.”
Corin opens his mouth to thank them when another heavy shape lands behind the storm troopers. An arm goes around Dee’s throat and he’s yanked back against unforgiving armor while Davarax lifts his blaster to fire at Pat. Drop instantly draws his own blaster.
“No!” Corin runs to stand between them, his helmet nearly touching the muzzle of Davarax’ blaster. “Don’t shoot them!”
Davarax hesitates, ignoring Dee’s wheezing attempts to pull his arm away from his throat. “Corin, what is going on here?”
-
After the explaining is done, Davarax reluctantly lets go of Dee, who stumbles forward into the protective grasp of his friends and coughs there for a moment while Davarax yanks Corin over to his side just in case.
“What are three storm troopers doing down here?” Davarax asks, suspicious.
“I think they are deserters…” Corin replies, looking at the three. “Am I right?”
“Hand the kid a medal.” Drop says with a wry smile in his voice. “Correct on the first try.”
Corin looks up at Davarax. “They can’t stay here. We have to help them, dad. Please?”
Davarax sighs.
And that is how he not only returns home with credits for a successful hunt and a revitalized Corin, but also with three ex-storm troopers in the cargo hold of the Razor Crest.
Dulsissia brings their daughter to greet them when the ship lands, only to freeze at the sight of what follows her husband and son off the ship.
“It’s okay, mom.” Corin reassures her. “They’re good guys. They saved my life.”
Dulsissia swallows down her fear and forces herself to put on a smile. As much as she hates that armor, she cannot hate men who has saved her son. “Then I am in your debt, sirs.”
While Davarax walks over and holds out his arms as the little girl eagerly reaches out for him, the storm troopers line up next to the ship and remove their helmets.
“Your son saved our lives in return, so I figure we are even, m’am.” Dee says.
Pat nods. The tallest of the three and with a semi-permanent scowl on his face.
Drop is staring at Dulsissia. “That is true. And something else that is true is the fact that you have to be the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, my lady. You don’t happen to need a new father to your charming son here?”
Davarax looks up from the toddler in his arms and his t-visor locks on Drop. “I think I changed my mind. I’m going to shoot you after all.”
Drop’s eyebrows flies up. “Oooh. You two are…? Oh. Ah. My bad.”
Flattered, Dulsissia smiles at Davarax. “I like these guys.”
Davarax grunts. “Yeah, I’m definitely shooting them.”
He doesn’t. Instead, the three are allowed to spend the night in the house and Davarax and Corin will head into town tomorrow to get them other clothes so they won’t be shot on sight. But the evening is spent with Davarax and Dee talking for hours over some strong smelling drink, speaking quietly and solemnly.
 Corin tries to eavesdrop, but he keeps getting distracted by Drop constantly trying to cheat to win the second round of the boardgame he had challenged just about everyone to join in on.
Paz, Raga and Barthor had all been a little bit taken back when three storm troopers walked into the house, but then Paz shrugged and decided to just go with it as it wasn’t the weirdest thing he’d experienced since leaving the Covert. Raga and Barthor couldn’t ague against that.
Zev’sonya and Mose have no opinion as they have disappeared again. Corin wonders what Din would think. He hates storm troopers. Din would probably never allow a storm trooper to stay with him.
The next day, in town, looking for clothing that will fit the men, Corin is not prepared to make another friend in such a short time.
“Hi.” A voice says as Corin tries to decide between two different leather jackets for Dee and it startles him into jumping around to face the culprit.
The owner of the voice is a brightly smiling blond boy around Corin’s own age. He is broad shouldered and clearly no stranger to staying in shape, but his incredibly cheerful attitude drowns out almost everything else about him. “You need help with that? Go with the left one. Way cooler.”
Corin blinks. “O-kay… Thank you?”
“No problem.” The boy steps closer. “I’m Leo. What’s your name?”
“Corin…” Corin decides Leo is right. The left one ‘is’ way cooler. He hangs back the other. “I haven’t seen you around here before?”
“I’ve just arrived with my family.” Leo happily shares. “My mom brought my dad to this place. He’s sick. There’s a doctor here that they say can help him.”
“Oh…” Corin shudders at the idea of either of his parents getting sick and it must be horrible not to have any friends in a new place during such a time. “So, uh, I’m looking to buy my, uh, uncles some clothes. All three of them. For their birthday. Today.”
Leo frowns a little. “They’re all born on the same day?”
“They’re triplets.” Corin lies with a tense smile. “You wanna help me pick out the rest?”
Brightening again, Leo coughs once and then nods eagerly. “Sure. Yeah. Awesome.”
-
Dulsissia is relieved to notice that things improve a little after that. The former troopers are eager to abandon their armor, which Davarax throws out of the airlock somewhere in space, and Dulsissia is pleased to discover a house for rent not too far away from their own where they can hide out and decide their next move. (Dee swears to pay them back and will not hear of anything else.)
Plus her son has made a new friend who seems to be able to cheer him up again, which makes Leo a very welcome guest in her eyes.
Paz bullies Leo a little but loses interest when it’s like kicking a defenceless Porg. Raga and Barthor both treat him with mild indifference. Davarax appears a little overwhelmed by the boy’s enthusiasm and habit of holding on to an uncomfortable subject, but her baby boy is finally laughing again and that is music to Dulsissia’s ears.
A little over two months pass before the next incident occurs.
At the shooting range they had set up behind the house, Dulsissia aims her blaster at the target despite little hope of actually hitting it as long as Davarax’ mouth is on her neck and his hand slides across her stomach to urge her to lean back against him. She fires and misses and doesn’t care as that gives her the excuse to twist around a little to making him move his lips up to hers.
Dulsissia knows how important it is to be improving her aim, but her husband is so incredibly attractive, sweet, kind, caring and the best kisser ever, so…
Davarax suddenly pulls away to prod at his vambrace. Sorry, I…” He prods some more before stalking over to pick up his helmet. “Just…”
Dulsissia waits while he puts his helmet back on and listens to the message he’d just received. Whomever had contacted him had to be someone of importance for him to react like this, so she feels worry instead of annoyance at the interruption.
A little while later, he removes his helmet and Davarax sends her a wide-eyed look. “It’s Din.”
“Din?” Dulsissia’s worry triples. “Is he okay?”
“Yeah.” Davarax replies, sounding a little dazed. Then a faint smile appears. “He wants to come home.”
Getting Din back feels wonderfully right. Dulsissia feels no small amount of relief seeing the teenager again and find him looking healthy and unharmed. He even smiles when Paz hugs him a little too hard.
Everyone except the absent Zev’sonya and Mose are eager to welcome him home, especially Corin. Her sweet son has been climbing the walls since he heard Din was coming back and finally the two are reunited again.
“So much has happened while you were gone.” Corin declares. “Nemi is starting to walk. Barthor keeps sneaking off on dates with this person he thinks we don’t know about. I went on a bounty hunting mission with Dad and met these three awesome dudes who saved my life and are now our neighbours. And I can’t wait for you to meet Leo! Mom said I could invite him for dinner so you can say hello.”
“Our dear neighbours are coming over to dinner as well. I invited them.” Dulsissia adds, with a touch of glee as it makes Davarax groan. She knows he gets along really well with Dee, but Pat is too tense to relax around and Drop winds the youngsters up even more than hyper-sugar.
Din exhales with a faint smile that doesn’t reach his eyes. “I guess I missed out on a lot, huh?”
Paz reaches out and smacks the back of his head. “That’s what you get for leaving, idiot.”
Deliberately falling behind a bit while the teens stalk towards the house, Dulsissia hoists the toddler on her arm before looking over at the quiet Davarax walking next to her. He’s watching Din.
“Did he tell you why he wanted to come back?” Dulsissia asks.
“No.” Davarax replies, sounding uncomfortably solemn. “He hasn’t said much of anything.”
“You think they were mean to him?”
“No.” Davarax says again. “He wasn’t angry or scared or resentful or… or anything. Sad, if I was to make a guess. But he was quite determined to leave.” He sighs. “If he wants us to know, Din will tell us in his own time.”
Dulsissia hopes he’s right.
-
They are going to have to move. The house is nowhere near big enough for all the souls who have come into their lives, but Dulsissia realizes that she’s going to miss this place. She’s grown so very fond of it. There are so many good memories here. And they keep creating more.
Barthor is sitting by the kitchen table with Nemi on his lap, keeping her entertained and hiding from the lively ruckus in the living room where there is far too much activity and far too many people for his taste.
Dulsissia is mixing up some treats on a plate when Davarax appears to hover in the doorway to the kitchen.
“Need some help?” He asks.
“No, but thank you for asking, cyare.” Dulsissia replies. She glances back at him. “Things okay in there?”
Davarax leans his shoulder against the door frame and sighs. “I think having Drop and Leo in one room might cause a black hole to appear. That kind of energy is not natural.”
Giggling a little, Dulsissia adds some fruit to the plate as well. “Leo is a sweetheart.” She glances back at Davarax again and sees Paz hovering behind him and trying to sneak into the kitchen but is being blocked by the man. “And Drop is always welcome in our house.”
It’s mean of her to tease but it is kind of flattering to see Davarax’ eyes narrow a little as he’s reminded of how interested Drop had been at the very first sight of her. Dulsissia purses her lips thoughtfully. “I wonder how he got his nickname?”
“Probably because his parent dropped him on his head while he was a baby.” Davarax mutters.
This is when Paz loses patience, wraps his arms around Davarax’ waist and simply picks him up.
What follows is probably the most hilarious thing Dulsissia has ever seen in her entire life.
The raw shock and utter disbelief on Davarax’ face as his arms and legs flail while he’s unceremoniously moved to the side and set back down again is something she will remember until the day she dies. Even after Paz has set him back on his feet and simply saunters into the kitchen to find himself something to drink, Davarax stumbles away from him and glues his back to the wall, looking horrified. He’s not a small and frail man, by far, and probably hasn’t been lifted since he was a child. If anything, Davarax is the one to pick other people up and move ‘them’ out of his way.
But Paz is now quite a bit taller than him and he’s gaining muscle by the day. Davarax watches him warily as he saunters back out and even takes a step away so not to risk humiliation again.
“Welcome to my world.” Barthor mutters.
Dulsissia breaks down laughing, wishing she had a way to immortalize the look on Davarax’ face.
Din greets Dee, Pat and Drop with polite distance, but he does brighten a bit when, to Dulsissia’s surprise, Zev’sonya and Mose suddenly appear in the doorway.
“I heard you were coming back.” Zev says with a grin, reaching out a hand towards Din, and they pull each other close for a brief hug/bump against each other.
“I had to come back and make sure you stay out of trouble.” Din replies with a grin of his own.
Over by where Dulsissia and Corin are sitting, Leo grabs her son’s arm with a soft gasp. “Is that your sister?” Unlike the gawking ex-troopers, he seems oblivious to the Hutt standing there as well.
Corin looks over at where Zev’sonya is bragging to Din about whatever she and Mose have been up to, nothing legal would be Dulsissia’s guess, and Corin makes a face. “No. She’s, uh, it’s complicated. She kind of lives here with us. Sometimes.”
Leo can’t seem to take his eyes off her. “Dude, you got to introduce me to her.”
Corin frowns. “Why?”
“Because I’m going to marry her.”
Corin looks somewhere between amused and genuinely scared for Leo’s safety and sanity. “Maybe you shouldn’t say that so she can hear it…”
“I’m in love.” Leo breathes, still with his eyes glued on Zev. “Come on, man. Introduce me.”
Corin looks over at Dulsissia, who shrugs. If Leo wants to risk his life, who are they to deny him? And maybe, hopefully, that sweet boy can be a good, calming influence on the troubled girl?
Dulsissia leans back and watches as Corin and Leo walk over and the introduction is made. It’s no surprise that Zev’sonya’s immediate reaction is to scowl and throw her emotional walls up, but Leo isn’t put off. He’s gentle in his approach, careful, like he’s defusing a bomb, but he’s not scared.
Dulsissia is about to smile, but then she sees Din’s face and she doesn’t feel like smiling anymore.
He’s looking at Leo with something dangerously close to hatred in his dark eyes.
-
When things wind down for the night, Dee, Drop and Pat agree to walk Leo home, despite the blond’s objections that he’s perfectly capable of getting there by himself. Dulsissia sends with them food and snacks, knowing they’re still finding their footing as civilians, and doesn’t know what makes her flush the hardest; Dee’s soft kindness, Pat’s intense respect or Drop’s shameless flirting as they fight to thank her.
She looks over at where Corin and Leo are saying goodbye, the blond making Corin promise to be his best man at his and Zev’s wedding, and the two laugh before Corin gives him a gentle kov’nyn and shoves Leo into Drop’s arms.
Din is nowhere to be found.
After they clean up, one by one they saunter off to their rooms.
Her riduur is one of the last to go. The long journey to get Din had Davarax start yawning early in the evening and now he’s close to falling asleep on his feet, so he only puts up a weak fight when Dulsissia orders him to bed while she finishes up the last bits of the cleaning.
Plus there are a couple of things she has to clear up before she has any chance of finding sleep.
Dulsissia piles food on a plate before heading to the backdoor and stepping outside the house.
Mose is lounging on the grass, staring up at the stars, but he carefully pushes himself up when he sees her approaching him. His gaze flicker cautiously from the plate to her face and back again.
“Here.” Dulsissia holds the plate out for him. If someone had told her that she’d be worrying over the well-being of a Hutt when she was younger, she would have laughed her head off. “I noticed you didn’t eat much earlier. You got to be hungry.”
Mose hesitates before slowly reaching out and accepting the plate. “Thank you.”
But Mose isn’t the only one who is on her mind tonight. “Do you know where Din is?”
Mose lifts his tail and points towards the Razor Crest.
Of course. His favourite place. Dulsissia sighs and pats Mose’s arm as she walks by him on the way to the ship. “Eat up and then get some rest, baby.”
Mose watches her leave in silence.
The Razor Crest’s left ramp, the one out of sight of the house, is lowered and Dulsissia makes her way up it and into the ship. Once inside, she sees Din right away.
He’s sitting on one of the fold-down seats in the cargo hold, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands.
“Din?” Dulsissia speaks softly, hoping not to scare him. “Are you okay?”
Jolting into an upright sitting position, Din stares wide-eyed at her. “Dulcy. Yeah. Yeah, I-I’m fine.”
He’s lying. It’s obvious. Sighing, she takes a step forward and gestures towards the seat next to him. “Mind if I sit with you for a bit?”
“I don’t mind.” Din looks cornered and almost a bit scared.
Sitting down, Dulsissia looks over and fights the urge to hug him close. “Want to tell me what’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong.” The answer comes a little too fast and his voice is too weak for it to be true.
“You can tell me, baby.” Dulsissia reassures him. “I promise I won’t tell anyone else.”
Din is about to say something but then he pauses and his eyes flicker for a moment before he asks, quietly, cautiously; “You promise?”
Dulsissia places one of her hands over his and gives it a gentle squeeze. “I promise.”
Din hesitates, then takes a deep breath and looks towards the open ramp. “I just thought… I thought that being with my parents people, it would feel like home. I thought I’d finally feel like I belonged. But… I didn’t. All I could think about was going back to you guys.”
Her heart shivers with pain, but Dulsissia is careful to keep her voice free of it. “You left because you didn’t feel like you belonged with us?”
Din turns his gaze down to the floor. “You feel like family to me…”
There is something unspoken at the end there. Dulsissia squeezes his hand again. “But?”
Din doesn’t answer right away. He tenses up and his breathing becomes a bit laboured and choppy, as if trying to fight back a wave of emotions, but eventually he loses and Din looks up at her with tears in his eyes. “He adopted Corin!” The tears begin to slide down Din’s face. “He found me, he saved my life and taught me almost everything I know, but he gave me away to those people and then adopts Corin. What is wrong with me? W-why doesn’t he want me…?”
“Oh, baby…” Dulsissia whispers and gently eases him into leaning over so she can hold him close, running a comforting hand up and down his back while his shoulders shake with grief. “Sweet, sweet baby. There is nothing wrong with you. Nothing. Davarax simply thought you’d be happier with parents who could be with you instead of him who had to leave all the time. And he knew how dangerous his work was. It was not because he didn’t love you. He does.”
“He’s got you, Corin and Nemi now. He has his family.” Din whispers. “If I hadn’t come back, no one would have cared.”
“That’s not true.” Dulsissia argues gently. “We all missed you terribly.”
“Yeah. I saw.” Din’s voice takes on a sharp edge. “Corin missed me so terribly he replaced me with the first cute guy he could find.”
Petting the dark hair, Dulsissia sighs. “Din, Corin doesn’t think of Leo that way at all. They’re just friends. You don’t have to be jealous of Leo, trust me.”
Din pulls back to stare at her with a startled look, despite the tears still making his cheeks shine. “I didn’t mean… I’m not jealous.”
That makes Dulsissia smile a little. “Yeah. You are.” She wipes away a tear from his face. “Leo is a nice boy, but he couldn’t steal Corin away from you even if he wanted to.”
Din flushes and his gaze slides away, too embarrassed to meet hers.
“Din.” Dulsissia makes him look at her again. “You have a home with us. You do belong with us. We all love you.”
That brings a faint smile to Din’s face and he lets her pull him into another hug and this time, he hugs her back.
-
The conversation helps, but it doesn’t solve everything.
Dulsissia can see the tension to Din’s shoulders and the hint of anger in his eyes at times. And his patience becomes close to non-existent. Especially when it comes to Paz sliding right back into the role as his protector and supervisor.
“You don’t like those.” Paz says as Din reaches for some spicy spinach at dinner. He takes a hold of the tongs and puts some other vegetables on Din’s plate instead. “Here.”
Dulsissia sees the spark in Din’s eyes half a second before he explodes.
“Maybe I’ve started to like them!” Din shouts, making everyone turn to stare at him.
“You don’t like them!” Paz shouts back. “You refused to eat them the day before you left, idiot!”
Davarax glares over at them. “Hey! Tone it down. Now.”
Din grits his teeth and stares at his plate. Paz looks tense enough to want to punch him. But they leave it that. That day.
Because that is just the start. More shouting matches follow and the comments go from angry to mean as the tempers keep growing hotter and hotter.
When Din stalks off after bellowing that he regrets coming back, Dulsissia decides it has gone on long enough as she sees the hurt in Paz’ eyes. She inches over to the boy who now towers over her. “Paz…?”
Exhaling his anger, now just sad and tired, Paz looks over at her. “Yeah?”
Dulsissia puts on her most innocent face. “I was wondering if I could ask you a huge favour?”
He shrugs. “Sure.” While he was rumoured to be sullen and uncooperative at the Covert, Paz has always been incredibly amiable and helpful to her. Her sweet giant boy.
“I’ve been super-busy lately, got a lot of projects going on and with my blaster training and… Well, you know how it is.” Dulsissia lets out a dramatic sigh. “I could really need a little help with Nemi.”
Paz actually smiles a little. “No, you don’t.”
“Yeah, I do, actually.” Dulsissia insists, giving him her doe eyes. “I’m serious, Paz. I would really appreciate your help.”
“Why me?” Paz asks. “Why not Davarax or Corin?”
“Davarax, well, I don’t want him to do more than his share. And Corin has his mind on other things these days. If you don’t want to do it, that’s fine. I can probably ask-”
“No. I’ll do it.” Paz shoots in. “No problem. Just let me know what you need me to do.”
Dulsissia almost smiles. She could have had a great career in the Imperial army with her evil genius.
“Cyare?” Davarax’ voice says, half a day later. His voice worrying sweet and high pitched.
“Yes, cyare?” Dulsissia replies, curious.
He steps into the room where she’s doing adjustments on her helmet. “Do you mind telling me why I come home to find that our daughter has been kidnapped by a 6”7 man-child who told me he would, and I quote; knock my helmet off if I woke her up after he just got her to sleep?”
Giggling, Dulsissia wanders over to give him a quick kiss on his stubbled cheek. “I asked him to help out.”
Davarax frowns. “Why? Are you okay? I could-”
“Din and Paz have been fighting a lot lately. Din wants to stand on his own feet and Paz is too overprotective to let him so I decided to defuse things by directing Paz’ paternal instincts over to someone who wouldn’t mind.”
Sighing, Davarax returns the sign of affection and places a light kiss on her forehead. “I love how you love these kids and how you want them all to get along, but those two? With their tempers and stubbornness, I fear they might be doomed to be butting heads while killing anyone who dares to hurt the other.”
Dulsissia fails to hold back a smug smile. “Let’s see, shall we?”
-
At dinner, Din sends Paz a defiant look as he reaches for the spinach again, ready to erupt the second Paz makes a comment, but ends up having to ease some over on his plate without a word as Paz is too busy tending to Nemi trying to rub her food into her hair to care what Din is doing.
(Din still doesn’t like spinach and ends up just pushing it around on his plate with a frown.)
As days go by, Din tries to provoke one way and the other, determined to show he is the master of his own life and that Paz doesn’t get to tell him what to do, but time and again; Paz is distracted by the child and ends up ignoring Din all together.
Ignoring him little too much, as it turns out. Because one day Dulsissia sees Din stare after Paz’ retreating back as he carries Nemi off to fetch the toys she wants and she sees the sad slump to Din’s shoulders and the lost expression on his face. First Davarax, then Corin, and now Paz, Din thinks he’s lost them all.
Oh no. Her plan is working too well! Curse her evil genius.
Dulsissia considers interfering again, but luckily she doesn’t have time to conjure up another plan before she gets to witness Din inch over to where Paz and her daughter are building with blocks on the floor. Din asks what they’re up to, listens and nods and then cautiously offers to help.
Paz looks up at him, surprised, then lights up and gestures for him to sit down with them.
Together they watch over and help the little one. There is not a single harsh word between them.
“Fine…” Davarax mutters as he comes to a halt next to where Dulsissia is lurking and spying on them. “You win. Your little trick is working.” He nuzzles her neck. “Jedi witch.”
Quietly cackling, offering up her neck, Dulsissia feels unbearably smug. “No trick. Just logic. You Mandalorians really do love to complicate things.”
But Dulsissia’s evil plan do affect another victim when Paz and Raga are in the middle of another make-out session in the living room, which Dulsissia is pretty sure is just to annoy Davarax, and when her daughter makes an unhappy whine, Paz instantly breaks the kiss to see what is going on.
Barthor awkwardly adjusts the child in his arms but she is clearly still not pleased.
“You’re holding her all wrong.” Paz states, taking a hold of Raga’s hips, lifts her off his lap and sets her mindlessly aside so he can walk over to Barthor to show him what he’s doing wrong.
Raga rolls her eyes and flops down to lie on the sofa with a frustrated groan. She sends Dulsissia a glare.
Dulsissia responds with an apologetic smile.
She’s not forgiven.
Pleased that she had managed to salvage the friendship between Din and Paz, Dulsissia decides to take the chance. “Dav?” She speaks into the darkness of the night as the two are curled up together in bed.
“Mmh?” He mumbles against her shoulder.
“You have to talk to Din.”
There is a moment of silence, then Davarax lifts his head to look down at her, what little he can see in the darkness. “Is he okay? What’s wrong? Did he tell you something?”
“I promised not to tell anyone.” Dulsissia replies. “Just… please talk to him.”
Davarax hesitates, then slowly lies back down again. He doesn’t say anything, but he is awake for a long, long time after that.
-
All it takes is a simple question if Din wants to help him do some repairs on the Razor Crest and Davarax has the boy eagerly trotting along towards what he fears will be a rather uncomfortable conversation. Something is clearly wrong and odds are that it’s Davarax’ own doing.
Davarax has a moment of soft affection when he sees the adoration in Din’s eyes when he looks at the trusty old ship. He might be the only one who loves her as much as Davarax himself does.
They work in the cockpit in silence for a bit until Davarax manages to build up his courage.
Sighing, he wipes his oily hands on a horribly oily rag. “Din?”
“Yeah, yeah, almost done.” Din replies, half-way under the control panel.
“Just… leave it for a bit.” Davarax says. “I want to talk to you.”
Din’s body freezes. He breathes once, twice, then he inches out and looks up at where Davarax is sitting in the pilot seat. His face is awfully pale behind the smudges of oil. “She told you.”
“Nobody told me anything.” Davarax reassures him. “Whatever secrets you have, they are still yours. I just want to make sure you’re okay. A lot can happen in two months.”
Staring at him, studying his face, Din eventually relaxes a little as he can’t see whatever he fears seeing in Davarax’ eyes. He clears his throat, inches himself further out so he can sit up. “I’m fine.”
“You hardly said a word the entire ride back home, Din. You’ve been fighting non-stop with Paz. I barely see you with Corin anymore. You’re not fine.” Davarax says, firm but gentle. “Will you let me help?”
Frowning, Din stares at him and there’s a touch of anger there. “So now you care?”
Davarax blinks, not expecting that. “I always care.” And the snort Din gives at that feels like a slap to Davarax’ face. He reaches out and places a hand on Din’s shoulder, making him meet his eyes. “Din. I care.”
The teenager tries for a defiant stare, but there is hurt there and Davarax realizes this is why Dulcy had told him to talk to Din. Guilt settles on Davarax’ shoulders and weighs him down so hard he can barely breathe. “You think I don’t care? Why? Because I let you leave?”
Din shrugs.
“I didn’t want you to leave, Din. Of course I didn’t. But you wanted to go, you wanted to be with them, and what you want is more important to me than what I want. It wasn’t because I didn’t care.”
“It wouldn’t be the first time you gave me away…” Din mumbles quietly, his gaze dropping to the floor.
Davarax opens and shuts his mouth a couple of times. Oh, the guilt is so heavy it hurts now. “Din, I…” He gently squeezes the boy’s shoulder and makes him look back up at him again. “I’m sorry that didn’t work out. I thought… I just thought that it would be better for you to have a steady family, someone who didn’t leave all the time and who might not come back alive. I wasn’t in a good place back then, Din. But I never stopped caring. I still care. I will always care.”
“You have a new family now.” Din mumbles. “I have no one, because no one wants me.”
“Hey.” Davarax places his other hand on Din’s other shoulder, holding a little too tight but unable to stop himself “My family? You are a part of that. You always will be. Nothing can ever change that. From the very first time I saw you, the second you gave me your trust, you were family to me.”
Din’s eyes grow blank with tears and he smiles a little. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.” Davarax confirms, then leans a little closer to give him a pointed look. “You’re the only one I’d trust to look after the Razor Crest if I end up parking my slippers for good.”
Din’s smile widens and turns genuine. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.” Davarax confirms again, now with a faint laugh. He gives him a light shake before he gets up and pulls Din up on his feet too so he can hug him close. Feeling Din’s arms go around him in return and how tights he holds on makes Davarax’ heart shrivel up with even more guilt. “I’m sorry, Din. I’m sorry I let them adopt you. I’m sorry you thought I didn’t care whether you left or not. I’ll try to do better from now on. I promise.”
“S’okay.” Din mumbles, his face buried into Davarax’ chest.
“You forgive me?”
Din nods.
Davarax runs his hand over Din’s smooth hair. He doesn’t deserve his forgiveness after so many mistakes, but that’s not his decision to make. All he can do is try to keep from making more and not have Din regret his kindness. “Thank you.”
Din merely hugs him harder.
-
When Din and Davarax return to the house, Dulsissia is relieved to hear Din talking like he used to; relaxed and almost playful with his great hero by his side. Davarax is smiling too.
She hides in the kitchen, doesn’t want to interfere, but she’s dying to ask. It takes no small amount of will-power for her to just wait.
Finally Davarax walks into the kitchen.
She turns to face him, about to start talking, when his hands cup her face and he leans down to give her a couple of soft, lingering kisses on her lips, before kissing her forehead and just pulling her into a tight, lingering hug as he sighs.
“Why do you put up with me?” Davarax asks.
“Because you’re hot.” She replies. Then she leans back and looks up at him. “So, you talked to him?”
“Yeah.” Davarax gingerly eases a lock of her hair behind her ear. “Thank you.”
Smiling, Dulsissia goes up on her toes to give him a soft kiss.
-
Luckily Leo is busy harassing Zev and Barthor is off to be with his mystery date, so Din gets to have Corin all to himself when they head into town to buy some supplies.
A lot has happened in the two months Din has been away, that much is clear by Leo’s arrival and them suddenly having three uncles now (who, Din had been horrified to learn, are in reality three storm troopers who have defected and will be shot if discovered.), yet the biggest change is the one he’s currently witnessing.
“Two? Are you sure I can’t get three for that price, Tahm?” Corin says to the shop-keeper’s daughter. He smiles, holds her gaze and even tilts his head a little. “Pretty please?”
The girl giggles and flushes.
Corin reaches out and slides a finger along her jawline and leans a little closer as he lowers his voice. “Pretty, pretty please?”
Din blinks. Corin is gorgeous. He’s always been a good looking kid, sure, Din isn’t blind and people have been talking, but over time Corin has gone from cute to gorgeous and… he’s clearly aware of it. There is nothing modest about the wink he gives that girl. Or the look he gives the young man who ends up selling them his wares to half of his original asking price.
“What was that?” Din asks as they load the bags up on the speeder bike.
“What was what?” Corin asks in return, fastening one bag.
“That.” Din insists. “Back there. The… that. The thing. You did.”
Corin snorts a laugh before glancing over at Din with a wicked grin. “Making them give me a discount? Leo taught me. It’s easy. You should do it too.”
Din feels his face heat up. “I don’t think I…”
Corin steps over, a little too close, and looks at him with bright, earnest eyes. “You could totally pull if off too, Din.” He touches Din’s jawline with light fingertips and the skin burns.
“I’m not…” Din swallows, his heart racing like crazy. “I’m not pretty. Like you.”
“Are you kidding me?” Corin laughs a little. “Din, you’re beautiful.” He leans in, gives Din a minor heart attack, and gently places his forehead to Din’s before turning back to the speeder bike again.
Din can barely breathe.
“I think that was everything?” Corin says. “Let’s go.” He gets on the bike, looks over at Din when he doesn’t move and raises his eyebrows. “Din?”
“Yeah…” Din croaks, forcing his legs to work. “Okay…” He gets on the bike too.
-
“No.” Zev snarls. “Go away.”
“Come on.” Leo whines, trailing after her. “One date. If you still hate me after, I will leave you alone. Pretty please?”
“I cannot think of a single thing that would change my mind about hating you, so I see no point.” Zev’sonya declares, chin held high and refusing to look at him.
“I could surprise you.” Leo tempts her. He coughs a couple of times before continuing. “One date, Zev. One!”
Zev’sonya wrinkles her nose. “You’re just going to give me your cold.”
Leo shakes his head. “I’m not-” Suddenly his gaze shifts over to something behind her and he frowns.
By the time she has turned around to see what he’s staring at, Leo is already running towards the three brats ganging up on Mose and trying to provoke him into a fight. By the time she’s caught up with him, Leo has already knocked one of the brats out.
The fight is over within minutes. Once Zev’sonya has made sure Mose is okay, hating how resigned he is to being hated and loving how Leo is huffing with offence on his behalf, she makes her choice.
“One date.” Zev’sonya says.
Leo spins around to face her, eyes huge and jaw dropping. “Really?! Wait, why? Wait, I don’t care.”
“One.” She underlines.
Leo nearly nods his head off and she has to hide the smile threatening to break free.
-
Din can’t forget about it. Can’t forget about watching Corin flaunting his good looks, the touch of his fingers and the kov’nyn… He can’t forget about it!
For years Corin has been his best friend. He felt so lucky to have him as his friend. He still does. But… it is getting harder and harder to be happy for Corin when others look at him the way Din does when Corin is not paying attention.
And after hearing Corin call ‘him’ beautiful, after having his full attention like that, Din can’t karking forget about it!
Din sits on Corin’s bed, thinking about this, when Corin enters the room again after he’d headed out to raid the kitchen for something to snack on. He returns victorious with a plate of cookies.
Sitting down on the bed as well, Corin places the plate between them and grins. “Mom said no, but then I gave her the eyes and she folded. I am a genius.”
“How… how do you do it?” Din asks, his pulse thrumming under his skin after daring to ask.
“As I said,” Corin inches closer so his knee almost touches Din’s, “it’s easy. All you have to do is keep eye contact.” He looks directly into Din’s soul with those incredible eyes of his. “Add a smile.” His lips curve into a smile that sends a frightful heat into Din’s blood. “And if you really need to bring in the big guns…” Corin reaches out and places his hand on Din’s knee. “...touch.”
Oh, Din swallows hard, struggles to find his voice. “I don’t think… it’ll work if I do that.”
“It definitely will.” Corin reassures him. “Your face? You will get whatever you want.”
“Whatever I want?” Din asks, his pulse thrumming in his throat.
“Definitely.”
“Okay…” Din gathers his courage. “Eye contact.” He moves a little closer, so their knees not only touch but cross each other a little. “Smile.” Din forces his mouth to shape into what he hopes is a careful but appealing smile. (He sees Corin’s gaze dart down to his lips for a second and it makes his hear jump.) “Touch…” Din reaches up and carefully cups the side of Corin’s face, runs his thumb along his cheekbone. “Like this?”
A slight flush creeps into Corin’s cheeks. “I, uh, yeah…”
Din is keenly aware of how he’s pushing his luck, but he can’t make himself stop. “Now what?”
Corin is staring at him. “It depends.”
“On what?”
“On what you want?” Corin almost whispers.
Din can’t say it, couldn’t say it to save his life, so he just looks at Corin’s lips with unspoken longing, hating himself for being such a coward. He just fears that if he gets a taste, he won’t survive seeing someone else kiss those lips…
“Okay.” Corin says, as if Din had spoken out loud, and before Din can ask him what he means; Corin leans in, tilts his head and gently touches his lips with his.
Din inhales sharply, startling Corin and causes him want to pull back, but Din’s hand flies up to grab his shoulder and hold him there. And then Din is the one to move closer to touch his lips to Corin’s.
It is such a sweet feeling. Soft, warm, cautious and fragile, and utterly perfect.
“I missed you so much…” Corin whispers, eyes closed and lips brushing his as he speaks.
Din’s throat snares up with a thousand feelings. “I missed you too. All the time.” They share another kiss before he can speak again. “Corin, I… I like you.”
That brings a soft laugh from Corin, startling Din a little into leaning back, but Corin merely grins at him. “I like you too, stupid. I kind of hoped we were past the obvious bit when we started kissing?”
Din’s face flushes hot. “I…”
“I kind of thought you did, was waiting for you to say something,” Corin says, shrugging one shoulder, “but then you left and I thought that meant you didn’t like me after all, but then you came back and… Well… “
“How did you know…?” Din mumbles, dying of embarrassment. He’d been so careful!
That makes Corin laugh again. “It was pretty obvious, Din. Come on.” He leans close again and smirks. “You’re always so nice to me. Not nice like with the others. Extra nice. And… you look at me a lot.”
Din’s face is about to melt off his skull. “I…”
Corin is dangerously close now. “You want to look some more or should we go back to kissing?”
Din stutters.
Laughing, Corin sits back up and grabs a cookie. “I’m sorry.” He munches on the cookie. “I’ll be good.”
Din’s heart is beating a thousand beats a second. He can’t stop staring. “You don’t have to.” He clears his throat. “Be good, that is. You can be… whatever you was just being. That’s… that’s fine.”
Corin lowers the cookie. “Yeah…?”
“I-if you want to.” Din adds cautiously.
Corin eagerly leans closer. “I really, really want to.”
Din grins, a little more confident. “Good.” He moves closer, both of them ignoring the plate tumbling to the floor, reaching up to touch Corin’s face. “Because I really want you to.”
Din is not a good kisser, he knows, it’s not something he has practised too much, but oh Corin is. Din follows his lead, moves his lips as softly and sweetly as he does, and can’t decide whether he’s grateful for Corin knowing how to do this or viciously hating every person who has kissed him. In the end, it doesn’t matter, Din is just weak with happiness.
-
“Obvious? What do mean it was obvious?” Din snaps, not expecting this kind of nonchalance from Paz when he confessed that he and Corin have become… a thing.
Paz shrugs, adjusting the wrapping around his left hand. “It just was. Everyone could see it.”
“Everyone?” Din asks with utter disbelief.
“Yup.” Raga confirms, delivering some hard hits that has the punching bag make a sound like it is groaning with pain. “Everyone.”
Din sinks down to sit on a crate, stunned by shock and horrible embarrassment. “But you never said anything?”
“I wanted to.” Paz says. “Believe me.”
“But Dulcy told him not to.” Raga throws a vicious punch. “I think she and Davarax have a bet going on which of you would make the first move.”
Din hides his face in his hands and groans.
-
Zev’sonya cannot believe she’s agreed to this. It was a moment of madness, that’s all. She got carried away after punching those jerks who bullied Mose and that blond idiot just happened to be there with his stupid date request.
What was she thinking?
Zev’sonya sighs as she looks at herself in the mirror. She’s clean, the clothes she’s wearing are whole, all the daggers and blades are hidden, that is good enough, isn’t it? Or do humans have other standards for this… dating thing?
She sees Mose’s reflection as he is standing behind her and scowls at the grin on his face.
“Don’t.” Zev’sonya warns, but his grin only widens so she flees before he can say anything.
Leo had wanted to come and pick her up, but she refused and insisted on her meeting him by his house. Bad enough Mose knows, but if Din and the others learns of this… ‘date’, there would be no end to the comments.
Approaching the house, Zev’sonya is surprised to see Leo sitting on the stairs leading up to it. But the surprise morphs into unease as she feels an intense wave of… sadness wash over her. No, he’s not just sad. It’s more. Deeper. More painful. Zev’sonya pauses in front of him, he doesn’t even notice her presence, and braces herself. “Leo?”
Starting a little, he looks up and when seeing her; he tries to smile. “Hey.” The boy is pale, there are dark smudges under his eyes and he looks miserable under his facade. “I, uh, I’m sorry, Zev. I know I hassled you for this date, but, uh… I don’t think I can go.”
Frowning, Zev’sonya crosses her arms. “What happened?”
Leo’s smile wavers. He swallows a couple of times before he can speak. “It’s, uh, it’s my dad, he…” Another swallow. “He died.”
That’s what she’s feeling from him. Grief. Zev’sonya exhales, forgetting about being angry and defensive and she merely moves to sit down next to him. “I’m… I’m sorry, Leo.”
He nods, turns to stare at the ground again. “We knew it was a long shot. They said it couldn’t be cured.” He carefully wipes at his left eye. “At least you won’t have to go out with me now.”
Zev’sonya plucks at the fabric on the knee of her pants. “I can wait.”
Leo shakes his head. “No.” He wipes at his other eye. “I, uh… It’s better if we don’t. There’s no point.” He clears his throat. “Don’t worry. It’s not contagious. I got it from working the mines with him.”
Startled, Zev’sonya looks over at Leo. “You’re sick too?”
Now Leo nods.
Fear and horrible resignation, both seep from him and into her. He will die choking and gasping for air, thrashing, terrified, like his father.
Zev’sonya reaches out and places her hand on his neck, and after a second of surprised hesitation; Leo shudders once before he breaks into helpless tears. She eases him over and wraps her arms around him, her eyes narrowing with determination.
He’s not going to die.
-
Davarax is biting his lip as he watches Nemi wobble along the table with a firm grip on it with her tiny hands and a look of thoughtful concentration on her adorable face. He is so proud, watching her progress, that he could die. His heart is not designed to handle this kind of emotion. He’s too happy.
“I need to talk to you.” Zev’sonya stalks into the room.
Nemi blinks, lets go and drops down on her behind to stare wide-eyed at the twi’lek.
Davarax stares at Zev too. She wants to talk to him? Why? Is she going to try to kill him again? She hasn’t done that in a long time. He thought they were making progress when she smiled at him after Mose moved in. What has changed? Why is she angry with him now? “Uh… Okay?”
After she’s done explaining, Davarax almost wishes she had tried to kill him instead. It would have been easier to handle than failing her meek request and having to watch her have her heart broken when the boy dies. “I… I’ll ask around.”
Zev’sonya brightens with hope and that terrifies Davarax.
“Zev.” He stops her from leaving. “I can’t promise anything, okay? I will try, but it sounds like they’ve been looking pretty hard for a cure already.”
Her dark eyes flicker before she focuses on Davarax again and she shrugs. “You got a good track record of saving kids. If anyone can save him, it’s you.”
Davarax stands there, staring, long after she’s gone.
-
At first Dulsissia is heartbroken when she learns that Leo is sick. That sweet, cheerful boy seemed like someone who would live forever. Hearing that he’d watched his own father die in such a terrible way makes her hug him for so long he gets a little worried.
Davarax sends out a message to every contact he’s ever made in his years as a bounty hunter and mercenary, but one by one they come back negative.
It’s ironic that the one sliver of hope they get is from one direction they did not expect.
“Yeah, I’ve heard of it.” Dee says. “They call it Miner’s Lung.”
“Is there a cure for it?” Davarax asks, trying not to get his own hopes up.
Drop makes a face. “Depends on how advanced it is. Once it catches proper hold, when it gets in the blood, it’s basically impossible to weed it out.”
“Tell us where to go.” Dulsissia says. “We have to try.”
On board the Razor Crest, Dulsissia doesn’t know what makes her smile the most; Zev’sonya’s expression of utter disgust but not doing anything to stop Leo from holding her hand, or how at the very back of the ship; Din tries to hide how sneakily he reaches out for Corin’s hand.
The doctor refuses to see them until he hears ‘Motti’. Dulsissia has absolutely no qualms about using her name to wring the arm of this horrible man to help Leo. No baby will be dying as long as there is something Dulsissia can do about it.
A complete medical scan, some tests run and a lot of frowning later, the doctor hands them a datapad with a treatment schedule that will last for about eighteen standard months and drugs that would knock out a fully grown Sarlacc. “This should work, but I can give no guarantees. It’s not like that boy has grown up on the most nutritious diet. His immune system is as poor as his family clearly was.”
Dulsissia takes the datapad, hands it over to Davarax, so she can step close to the doctor. “If it fails, then I know who to hunt down. You should know, sir, we Mandalorians are very protective of our children. We take the loss of one very hard and will take our anger out on whomever is responsible for their death.”
The doctor goes pale. “If he’s not showing any signs of improvement in two months, you better come back so we can make some adjustments to his medication.”
Dulsissia gives him a sweet smile. “Lovely. Thank you.”
Davarax looks at her like he wants to propose all over again.
When they walk back to the Razor Crest, Dulsissia is eager to hold her daughter again but also can’t help but to adore the sight of the group of teenagers ambling in front of her and Davarax. It feels like only yesterday they were mere youngsters and now they are snapping at the heels of adulthood.
Corin has his arm around Leo’s neck, laughing and tugging him into a mix of a hug and a headlock, while Din and Zev’sonya walk behind them and give identical shake of heads at the boisterous duo.
Paz is standing by the ramp to the Razor Crest, his back towards them, and Dulsissia wonders what he’s doing until she sees the hands sliding up to cup the back of his neck and she knows.
“For the love of…” Davarax mutters. “They will get brain damage from lack of oxygen soon.”
Dulsissia giggles.
“Hey.” Davarax snaps, making Paz and Raga flinch apart. “Don’t make me hose you two with cold water.”
Raga rolls her eyes. Paz clears his throat and glances over at Leo. “How did it go?”
“We got a plan and hopefully a cure.” Davarax replies.
“Nice.” Raga replies, punching Leo in the arm and laughs at his yelp. “The clan keeps growing.”
“Let’s go home.” Dulsissia says, entering the ship and heading over to where Mose is curled up with the sleeping Nemi in his arms. She has to smile at that sight as well. It’s just too cute.
The little girl has everyone wrapped up around her little finger, but Mose maybe most of all. Who would have thought a Hutt could be such a softie?
“Everything okay?” Dulsissia asks, running a gentle hand over Nemi’s hair.
“She’s good.” Mose confirms in an affectionate tone. “Fell asleep ten minutes ago.”
The ride home is blissfully incident-free, which is why it is no big surprise the shock comes the day after they return home.
-
Dulsissia opens the door and blinks at the sight that meets her.
Dez Vizla is standing there.
“I, uh…” Dulsissia is suddenly awkwardly aware of standing there in Mandalorian armor, helmet off, and looking like the fraud she is. Luckily Davarax appears in the hallway, carrying their daughter, and he walks over to hover behind her.
“Dez. What are you doing here?”
Dez’ t-visor shifts up from the little girl on Davarax’ arm to his face. “You had a child?”
“Yes.” Dulsissia replies cautiously, placing a protective hand on the curious Nemi’s back.
“Mom! Dad!” Corin shouts, stepping into the hallway with Din and Leo in tow. “We’re heading over to Dee, Drop and Pat. We’ll be back for dinner.”
“Fine.” Davarax shouts back.
Dez watches the three and tilts his head a little, a bit puzzled. “More Foundlings, I see.”
Then Zev’sonya steps into the hallway to head into the kitchen and Dez says; “A Twi’lek?”
“Well…” Davarax manages to say, before Dez flinches and places his hand on his blaster, and Dulsissia deducts that Mose has appeared behind them. “It kind of just happened.”
Dulsissia keeps a wary eye on Dez’ hand on that blaster. “Please don’t draw that blaster. Mose is a part of the family.” She knows she has absolutely no chance of overpowering Dez Vizla, but she will not let him just threaten her family.
Dez rumbles before he reluctantly takes his hand off his weapon. He seems a little overwhelmed. “I just… I want to see my son.”
Davarax nods then points.
Dez turns his helmet and looks.
Walking towards them, oblivious to the visitor, Paz and Raga are entirely lost in each other. Paz has his arm around her shoulders, she has her arm around his waist, and instead of looking where they’re going, they are staring at each other, making grinning comments and exchanging kisses.
Dulsissia hears Dez exhale and in that moment, she realizes that while the man might be cold (He hasn’t seen Paz for years and he hasn’t sent a word, not since they left) and that he can be cruel at times, he’s not entirely without a heart. At least not when it comes to his son.
Seconds after that, Paz and Raga both discover Dez’ presence and they come to a sudden halt not too far away. Both of them look extremely worried at the sight of Paz’ father.
“Paz.” Dez greets his son.
Paz gingerly removes his arm from around Raga, but she follows when he walks over to his father. “Father. What… What are you doing here?”
“I came to see my son.” Dez replies, reaching out to grab Paz’ shoulders, looking him up and down before snorting a laugh. “And what a sight!”
Paz manages a faint smile. He’s taller than his father now and working on becoming as muscular as him.
Seeing the unease in the boy’s eyes makes Dulsissia frown and she looks up at Davarax, but he simply looks every bit as nervous as Paz. Clearly the awe-inspired fear that everyone in the Covert had towards Dez and most Vizlas didn’t just apply below ground.
“And little Raga Saxon.” Dez drawls, turning his attention to the one next to his son. “Not so little anymore. Quite the warrior. Your mama said you were doing well. I’m pleased to see she’s right.”
Raga dares a careful smile and nods.
“Vizlas and Saxons, it would be a powerful clan union.” Dez points out, now sounding smug.
Paz clears his throat. “We… we took our helmets off, father. I don’t think they care what two outcasts are doing.”
“Don’t underestimate the influence your father has.” Dez gives Paz a couple of semi-harsh pets to the cheek. “As far as they know, you removing your helmet is just a rumour.”
Paz frowns, looks down. “I’m not going to lie and pretend I didn’t take it off. I’m not a liar.”
Dez lowers his hand and his t-visor stares at his son in silence for several long seconds. “I see…”
An awkward tension follows and eventually Dulsissia steps forward, trying to put on her pleasant face that she used whenever rival families had to meet during the social events on Seswenna. “Let’s all go inside, shall we?”
Luckily her trick works.
Paz’ reply seems to have knocked Dez off balance a bit and he spends the next couple of hours talking to Davarax, just glancing over at his son as if he doesn’t quite know how to approach him again. “I have to admit,” Dez says, having turned ignoring Dulsissia into an art form, “I did not expect to find you like this, Davarax. I didn’t think you’d last long without the Covert. Without her.”
“How is she?” Davarax asks, careful hope in his eyes for news about his sister.
Dez shrugs. “Like she always is.”
Davarax smiles a little and Dulsissia feels guilt wrapping around her heart. If not for her, Macero would not have sent the mercenary after Davarax, his helmet would have stayed on and he wouldn’t have had to leave the Covert. Davarax being here is her fault. She wonders if he regrets saving her that day when they’d met for the very first time.
No, he wouldn’t regret something like that. But maybe he regrets bringing them to the Covert? Maybe he regrets letting her into his room that night?
When it is time for dinner and the others return to the house,  Dez declares it is time for him to head back to the Covert. He says so with a final look over at his son, but Paz tenses up and stares at the floor, which leads to him merely offering Paz a formal goodbye and stalking out of house, ignoring the other children gawking at him.
Dulsissia walks over to Paz, touches his arm and gets his attention. “You okay?” He nods, but it’s not really convincing.
Din appears on Paz’ other side, shoves Raga away, and punches him in the shoulder. When that gets him an angry glare, Din speaks. “He’s a douche. This is your home now. Trust me, leaving will only make you realize that. We’re your family too.”
That actually makes Paz smile and to Dulsissia’s delight, he pulls Din into a hug. It’s so sweet. It’s adorable. It’s… She sighs when she sees Paz’ biceps starting to bulge and Din squawks angrily before he starts trying to battle his way to freedom before he’s squeezed flat.
“I’m hungry.” Barthor whines.
“Let’s go eat.” Dulsissia declares.
-
That night, Dulsissia struggles to find sleep. All of her babies are in bed, safely tucked in, her husband is drowsing next to her, all is well, and yet there is an unease in her chest. She turns to look at Davarax. “Dav.”
“Mmh?”
“Are you awake?”
Davarax opens one eye to look at her. “If I say no, will you go to sleep?”
Dulsissia grins.
Sighing, Davarax turns on his side, fluffs his pillow and settles to look at her. “What’s on your mind?”
She reaches out and fidgets with the collar of his shirt. “Do you regret it?”
That brings a confused frown to his face. “Regret what?”
“Bringing us to the Covert.” Dulsissia rests her hand to his chest. “You lost everything because of that one decision.”
“I didn’t lose anything.” Davarax counters, reaching out and tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear. “I gained a family. You, the kids, that scary twi’lek, a genuine Hutt and even our three bothersome neighbours, I wouldn’t trade this for the Dark Saber.” He leans over and gives her a soft kiss. “Without you, I’m scared to think where I’d be today.”
Dulsissia’s eyes well up with emotional tears as usual. “My life was horrible before I met you, I know it would be horrible today without you.”
“No regrets?” Davarax asks with a faint smile.
“No regrets.” Dulsissia confirms, burrowing close to him and savours the sensation of his arms going around her.
“Dav?”
“Yes, Dulcy?”
“Will you help me take the Creed?”
“Yes, cyare. It would be my honour.”
The unease in her chest is suddenly nowhere to be found and holding on to each other, they both slip into a peaceful sleep.

An Unexpected Discovery
An alternate universe in which Mulder and Scully are college professors working in buildings across from one another. They have become close, but one day, he learns something about her he never would have expected.
A couple of days ago, @msgilliana posted a tweet about an AU involving Mulder and Scully which led to a mini story being created by both of us. People asked for a REAL story, but it wasn’t my baby, I had only added a bit to an adorable idea. I suggested she and I collaborate and we two women, who were “too busy right now,” cranked out a 7,700 word story in two days.
Hope you all enjoy!
Tumblr media
Fox Mulder knew the start of the new academic year could be daunting for new faculty: Am I teaching this class correctly? Is my syllabus adequate? Where the hell do I park?
When he saw one person in particular however, he knew she meant business. They never technically met, but it was more of a ‘we parked next to each other and your building is right next to mine, so we might as well chat’ situation.
“Hi,” he’d said when he saw her, the first of them to speak. He had been drawn to her beauty, her red hair causing her to stand out.
“Hello,” she’d responded.
“Are you new?” he’d asked.
She pushed a stray piece of that beautiful red hair behind her ear. “Is it that obvious?”
“Oh no, I just have an eidetic memory and haven’t seen you before.” She was impressed, and her face revealed as much before he asked another question.
“What do you teach?”
“A mix. Some general physics, some intro to modern physics. You?”
“Wow, that’s quite impressive. I teach psych. Intro, abnormal, and social. Most people think it’s a ‘soft’ science, but I think it’s pretty important.”
“Psychology is interesting to be fair. Why do people do what they do, what determines our likes and dislikes, or even hyperfixations. And that’s just scratching the surface.”
“I have never met anyone from the science department who sees it that way. It’s quite refreshing, if you don’t mind me saying.”
“Well, my sister’s very into feelings, the energy of the planets, all that kind of stuff. She and I are very close. Well… this is my building.” She pointed to the one right next to the one he would be entering.
“And this is mine. How convenient. I’ll see you around Dr…”
“Scully. Dana Scully.”
“Fox Mulder.” He offered his hand and she shook it.
“Nice to meet you, Dr. Mulder.”
“Oh please, no ‘Dr.’ That’s so boringly formal. ‘Mulder’ is fine,” he had joked with a mock shiver.
“Then you can call me ‘Scully.’” She chuckled and then smiled at him. As he stared at her, he couldn’t help but notice the presence of a beauty mark above her top lip. She had covered it with makeup and he didn’t understand why she would, it was adorable and also incredibly sexy.
Oh, maybe that’s why, he thought, knowing how men could behave.
Pushing aside those thoughts, he smiled as they reached their respective buildings and separated, walking to their offices.
Over time, they’d gotten to know more about each other. He knew she was twenty six and had received her doctorate two years prior. She was Catholic with two older siblings, a brother and a sister, the latter of whom had an interest in all things extraterrestrials, and she also had one younger brother.
Before the end of her first teaching year, they’d managed to park next to each other almost every day. They would chat for the few minutes their walk to the building afforded them, until they had to separate to their own offices. They both looked forward to that time together each day.
At the year's commencement, they had sat next to each other, and she looked extraordinarily extravagant in her doctoral robe and cap. She would say the same about him.
The following school year, they had gone from their morning chats to leaving at the same time as well. It quickly turned into one accompanying the other to their office and continuing their conversations. While almost polar opposites, they felt comfortable with each other and talked about any and everything.
Of all the little things he knew about her, the one thing Mulder knew Scully prided herself on most was punctuality. He knew she arrived in the parking lot at exactly 8:05 every Tuesday and Thursday before her first class began at 8:30. The other three days, she arrived at exactly 9:25 am for her 10 am class. His classes were all later in the day, but he came in early for office hours and to get work done before his classes.
A couple of months later, however, it was 9:27 on a Wednesday morning and she was nowhere to be found. In the nearly one and a half years since she’d been teaching, Scully had never been late. Though he was curious, he decided to head into his office and start his day.
His work, however, didn’t hold his attention. He couldn’t stop thinking about her. What was she doing? Was she sick? Was there a family emergency? She had mentioned that her siblings lived all across the country. Her older brother Bill was in California where he was stationed with his wife Tara. Melissa was traveling, “finding herself” Scully had stated with a slight eye roll, and Charlie was in New York with his girlfriend Elaine. Her parents were in Annapolis, about an hour's drive from the school.
Shaking himself out of his reverie, he decided to email her, something he’d never done nor had any need to do.
Scully,
Are you okay?
Mulder
He forewent formalities because he felt they were on friendly enough terms, or at least he had assumed so. They hadn’t ever socialized outside of school events, but he had lost count of the high school and college friends he no longer spoke to or had only seen on campus.
He was about to get ready to teach his first class of the day when he checked his email one more time and saw a reply from her.
I’m fine.
Nothing further, not even her name, but at least he now knew she was okay. Or at least, Mulder hoped so. She would’ve said if something was wrong.
Right?
He didn’t sleep well that night, his brain unable to stop thinking and wondering if she was okay.
The next day, she still hadn’t arrived on time. He was in his office, about to send her another email, when he heard a car door slam around 8:15. The building was fairly soundproof, but the windows were not.
Curious, he got up from his desk and looked out the window. Seeing Scully’s car, he immediately smiled. She was a little late, but she was there. His brows then furrowed when she opened the door to the backseat. Bending inside, she was there for nearly a minute.
When she pulled back, he let out a gasp as she had reappeared with a small child in her arms. He could see the little girl was limp and appeared to be asleep. Observing Scully’s struggle to get her bags from the front seat while also carrying the child, he quickly left his office.
He tried to keep his pace slow, so as to not disrupt his colleagues, but his mind was racing with a million questions. Mulder made it outside, but didn’t see Scully. Assuming she must’ve gotten to her office already, he hurried up the stairs; he was out of breath when he reached the third floor.
Looking around, he heard a ding, announcing the arrival of the elevator down the hall. The doors opened and he spotted her shining red hair as she exited the elevator, and turned toward her office. Speed walking, he made it to her office at the same moment that she did.
“Oh, God. Mulder, you scared me,” she whispered when she saw him, breathing quickly as she reached for her keys.
“Sorry,” he whispered, matching her volume.
Scully took a minute to find her keys, only having one hand free for the action. She finally got her office unlocked, the little girl sleeping through it all. Propping the door open, she left the light off and set her bags down, a bright pink Dora the Explorer backpack standing out. She picked it up and held it out to him.
“Can you…” she asked him, nodding at the child in her arms.
“Oh. Um, sure. What…”
“Her blanket, please.”
He unzipped the bag and pulled out a small blue blanket with Thomas the Train across it. Versatile, I like it, thought Mulder. He couldn’t help but feel his heart grow as he watched the way she was with the little girl he assumed had to be her daughter.
“Mommy…” the toddler suddenly croaked.
“Shh, baby, it’s okay.” Scully’s voice was soothing and soft for the girl as she ran a hand across her daughter’s long loose curls. It was different from her no-nonsense, low-pitched professor voice, and it made his heart ache.
She mouthed a thank you to Mulder and took the blanket from him. The little girl whimpered as she was covered in the blanket and snuggled closer to her mother. Scully rocked her and smiled at Mulder.
“I’m sure you have some questions.”
“Just a few.”
She sighed and looked at her child. “Please, sit.”
He obeyed, watching as she carefully sat in her leather desk chair.
“How old is she?” Mulder asked.
“Almost three.”
“Wow, you’ve got your hands full. What’s her name?”
“Emily.” Scully smiled as she rubbed Emily’s back over the blanket.
Awkward silence washed over them as they both ignored the elephant in the room. Scully wasn’t married and didn’t wear a ring. She had never talked about her child before, let alone a partner that could be the child’s father.
“You’ve shared so much, why not her?”
She sighed again. “I don’t know. I guess I thought… that you would judge me. Everyone else sure does, except Missy and Charlie.”
“You know I’d never.”
“I do, but I was also worried. And I guess I wanted to keep her secret for as long as possible.” She avoided his gaze as she spoke.
“I don’t want to sound insensitive, but I do have one more burning question…”
“You want to know about her dad,” Scully guessed and he looked at her sadly and shrugged, not speaking the words, but obviously curious.
“His name’s Ethan and he had been my boyfriend since grad school. I found out I was pregnant the day I defended my dissertation. We broke up about halfway through my pregnancy. He hadn’t ever wanted children, but also didn’t want to use protection. I… well… now Em’s here. That’s the extremely simplified version.”
Mulder’s eyes were wide as he took in the information. He thought she was pretty badass to be able to raise a kid on her own. He could also hear how she may feel shame about it, because of others' comments and also how society tended to treat women who were single parents.
She sighed and he realized that he hadn’t said anything in response. Feeling like a bit of a jackass, he opened his mouth to speak, but she suddenly stood up and shook her head.
“Sorry to cut this short,” she said, glancing at her watch. “But my first class starts soon and I need to get her stuff to bring.”
He shook his head and stood as well. “I can watch her, if it would make it easier for you.”
“Oh, no. I couldn’t-“
“I insist. Besides, I don’t think she’ll like listening to her mother talk about super smart science stuff.”
“It’ll probably bore her to death,” she agreed with a chuckle.
“Then it’s settled then.”
“Are you sure?” Her expression gave away her uncertainty, her eyes searching his face.
“Really, I’d love to. I promise we’ll just stay in here while you teach.”
“You need to be in your office, Mulder. I can’t do that to you.”
“Then we can go to mine. Look, Scully, I promise we’ll be okay, okay?”
She sighed for the third time. “Okay. I should wake her though, let her know I’m leaving and let her see you. I don’t want her waking up without me and crying. Hey, Em,” she said softly, gently patting her back, waking the child.
“Mama…”
“Hey honey, Mama has to teach her class now. You’re going to spend some time with Mulder today, okay? He’s mommy’s friend.”
The toddler lifted her head and looked at him fearfully, tears running down her cheeks.
“Hey, Emily,” Mulder greeted. “It’s nice to meet you. Do you like Dora? She’s pretty cool.” Emily didn’t answer, but embraced Scully tighter.
“I know baby, but Mommy really needs to get to class. Mulder is a very nice man and he will take care of you. He has fish in his office. Do you want to see them?” She nodded, her eyes still full of tears.
Emily was gently passed to Mulder, Scully making sure she was wrapped in her blanket. The little girl sniffed and whimpered as she watched her mom blow her a kiss and then leave the room, thanking him once again.
“Would you like to go on a trip, Emily?” he asked, hoping to ease the tension. She looked at him, her expression unsure and still slightly fearful. “Let’s go see the fish, okay?” She nodded and he beamed.
He grabbed her backpack and swung it onto his back, closing the door to Sculy’s office as they walked out. He locked the door with the keys he’d taken off her desk, knowing she would come to his before coming back to her own.
Emily was trembling slightly in his arms and he held her closer as they walked to the elevator.
“Would you like to go outside? It feels nice out today.”
Emily slowly nodded her head, her thumb on the tip of her bottom lip, as she put her head on his shoulder. He stepped out of the elevator and then the building. He walked into the little courtyard separating the science and education/psychology buildings. The little girl lifted her head just enough to look around.
“‘Nola,” Emily said quietly, as she pointed with her little finger.
“What was that, Em?” Mulder asked, at a loss of what she was trying to say.
“‘Nola,” she repeated louder.
He looked at the direction she was pointing and chuckled when he realized what she meant. “Oh, you like the magnolia tree?”
Mulder was impressed by her intelligence. Of course, her mother had gotten her doctorate at twenty-four, which was not common amongst the other faculty. Even he hadn’t received his until just before she had started teaching, and he was thirty, nearly thirty-one.
“You’re very smart, Emily,” Mulder praised, but the little girl was uninterested. She put her head back on his shoulder, falling asleep before they made it to the office.
As he arrived at the door, he realized he had left his door unlocked when he found it hanging open and one of his teaching assistants, Tyler, was grading papers.
“Oh, sorry Dr. M, but the door was unlocked and…” Tyler started, but was confused as he saw Emily in his arms.
“I’m watching her for a friend,” Mulder said simply, putting her backpack down on the desk. Tyler nodded and went back to grading papers.
Emily continued to sleep, Mulder holding her as he sat down at his desk. Even as he held her, he managed to send a slowly-typed email to a student about the midterm, enter the test grades Tyler had given him, and sent out an announcement to the class about their extra credit assignment.
Looking down at Emily, he smiled. Other than her blonde hair, she was a mirror image of Scully and he couldn’t imagine anyone but her having a sweeter child.
Tyler left soon after he was done grading, smiling and nodding silently as he walked out the door. Emily began to stir, her eyes slowly opening and taking in her surroundings.
“Hey there, Em,” he said softly, and the toddler mumbled, clutching her blanket closer.
“Do you want to see the fish now?” She nodded and he stood up, his back protesting at the position he had been in for the past forty five minutes. He shifted her to hold her better and walked across the room to show her the fish.
“Oh!” she said, watching the fancy guppies he had bought swimming around the tank. “Fishies!” She pointed at the tank and he grinned.
“Yup! Those are fancy guppies. Can you say guppy?”
“Guppy.”
“Good job,” he said, smiling again and rubbing her back. “See that one there? The blue one with the red spotted tail? That’s my favorite one. Watch how fast he swims.”
“Fish swim fast,” she agreed with a nod and he chuckled, shifting her again.
“They are fast. Good job, Em! Gimme five.” She laughed as she lifted her tiny hand and met Mulder’s large one.
“Having fun?” Scully asked and they turned to look at her, standing in the doorway with a smile.
“Mommy!” Emily said, trying to scramble out of Mulder’s arms. He laughed as he set her down and she ran to Scully, who lifted the squealing toddler in her arms.
“Hey, baby.” Scully kissed Emily’s cheek and looked at Mulder. “Were you good for Mulder?”
Emily vigorously nodded her head while Mulder laughed. “She was very good. She’s a smart kid.”
“She takes after her mother.” The two adults smiled and Emily wrapped her arms around Scully’s neck. “Thank you for looking after her. I only had the one class today, but she was sick yesterday and I had babysitter problems and-
“I promise it was no trouble and completely my pleasure. She slept most of the time, but she liked the fish. The guppies, right Em?”
“Guppy,” she said with a nod, pointing at the tank. “Guppy fish, Mommy.”
“Yes, I know. I knew you would like them.” Scully smiled. “Hey, are you free tonight?”
“Umm. I… no, I mean yes I’m free.”
“Well, let me buy you a drink. It’s the least I can do to thank you for your help.”
His heart raced. This was the moment he’d been waiting for since he had first looked at her.
“Um, sure, I mean… yeah, I’d love to,” he stammered.
Great job, doofus, he admonished himself, inwardly rolling his eyes.
“Great. I’ll sort out a babysitter for tonight and I’ll see you at six? I’ll send you my address.”
If he didn’t know any better, he’d think Scully was inviting him out on a date. Did she see it that way? They’d never spent time together outside of university functions, but he hoped she’d see it as a date, as he would love for it to be so.
He smiled as he nodded and she smiled back. She lifted Emily a little higher, telling her about her class as Emily continued staring at the fish. The way she doted on her daughter and how her red hair shone in the light, he could feel he was already falling for her.
Yeah… he was in big trouble.

All Dressed Up | Tom Hiddleston x Reader
Tumblr media
Pairing: Tom Hiddleston x Reader
Summary: You and Tom have been a relationship for some time. While it used to feel exciting and fun, now feels like you two are stuck in a rut. You decide that Tom's wardrobe needs an upgrade. But will he appreciate your effort?
Warnings: maybe implied smut
-
“I think Tom and I’s relationship is getting stale,” you complained while you stirred your coffee.
Your best friend stared from across the table in some state of disbelief.
“I don’t buy that,” she replied, “the two of you are always trying new things.”
You grumbled as you picked at the blueberry scone on the plate. You let the crumbs coat your fingers as you thought about the first year of your relationship with Tom. The start had been thrilling and adventurous. The two of you had met at a BAFTA event. Tom looked devastatingly handsome in his single-breasted tux. The beginnings of his now full beard just starting to show themselves.
The two of you had wined and dined those first several months, whether at restaurants or at your respective homes. But all that faded into the background, once you moved in with Tom. Fancy suits and pretty dresses had given way to threadbare shirts and workout clothes.  “Well, I think the honeymoon phase is over. Most nights are TV on the couch and snoring in the bedroom. He doesn’t even try anymore.”
“How do you mean?”
“Well… when we first got together, we both put such effort in our appearance. But now, I’m lucky if he is wearing pants without holes in them!”
“Maybe he is trying to tell you something,” your friend replied with a wink, trying to lighten the mood.
“Yeah, that he needs new clothes! I swear Tom will wear something into the ground and just wish he would put more of an effort sometimes. it is like I am dating a hobo and not a world class actor.”
“Trying telling him that.”
Your eyes lit up as an idea popped into your head.
“I have an even better idea!”
You paid the bill as you said your goodbyes. Your best friend noticed that glint in your eyes. Your ideas rarely worked out. She just hoped you didn’t anything too stupid or crazy. But there was no use in trying to stop you.
***
As soon as you got home, you rushed into your shared closet. Instead of telling Tom you wanted he dress nicer, you thought you just show him. Tom was out of town for a few days, completing some reshoots on his most recent project. Just enough time to put your plan into action. First off, you grabbed all the jeans from his side, throwing them on the bed. Carefully examining each pair, you threw out any pairs with any holes. That left about three pairs. You repeated the process with his sweaters and shirts.
Once done,  you turned to the dresser. The workout clothes were the worst. Nearly everything had stains, holes, or rips. There was only one outfit worth keeping. You realized you would need to replace much of Tom’s wardrobe. But first you needed to get rid of the old clothes to prevent their re-entry into Tom’s wardrobe rotation. It took several bags and three trips to the dumpster.  Just as you shut the door, the phone rang.  It was Tom.
“Hello, honey!”
“Hello, darling. You sound out of breath. What on earth are you doing?”
You panicked. You would rather not tell Tom your plans just yet for fear he would make you fish the clothes out of the bin.
“Just some spring cleaning. Just wanted the place to look nice when you get back.”
“That’s unnecessary, darling, but I appreciate the thought. I love our home as long as you are in it.”
You winced as the sweet words came from his mouth. Should you go through this? Maybe you should just talk to him? You thought about digging out his clothes.
“Darling? You okay?”
Tom’s voice snapped you out of your mental quandary and back to reality.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just a little tired. Hey, I was thinking about picking up some new clothes. Just to replace some worn-out things. Need anything?”
Tom contemplated a moment before responding.
“Not that I can think of. But have fun and don’t forget to pick out a dress for Ben’s party on Saturday. Shit! You had forgotten about Benedict and Sophie’s party. You can’t remember the occasion, but the dress code was cocktail wear. Your worry melted away into joy. This would be the perfect time to make your point.
“Thank you for reminding me. I think I will pick out something new.”
The two of you said your goodbyes and hung up the phone and wiped sweat from your brow, not sure if it was from the physical exertion or the act of lying to Tom. Convincing yourself the lie was for the best, you set off to finish your tasks.
***
You spent most of the next day in stores. First up was Nike, where you dropped what felt like a small fortune replacing Tom’s jogging attire. All black naturally. Now if you just get him to stop layering all at once in the winter. You hit up John Smedley and picked up two new sweater, one blue and one blue-gray. It was a new color for Tom, but you thought it would bring out his eyes. Not like he needed any help.
You scoured the shops for the perfect dress for Saturday; you finally found it at Coast. It was low cut but tasteful and the color complemented your skin tone and eye color. If this didn’t get the blood flowing, you didn’t know what would. You lugged all the purchases and set out putting it all away. You had just clipped the last tag and folded the last shirt when you discovered a key turning in the lock.
“Tom!”
You rushed down the hall and took a running leap at him. Tom dropped his bag just in time to catch you as you slid across the floor into his arms. He steadied the two of you before clasping your face and pulling you into a deep kiss.
“I have missed you,” he breathed as the two of you parted.
“I missed you too,” you replied, and you pecked his lips again.
Tom headed up to the bedroom to unpack, while you headed to the kitchen to start on supper.
“Darling!”
You heard Tom call to you across the house. His voice sounded neither happy nor mad but there was a tone of concern. You shuffled up to the bedroom to face the conversation you had been dreading. You arrived to see Tom staring into a drawer.
“What is all this?”
“Workout clothes,” you quipped back, ignoring the real question.
“I noticed. What happened to the old ones? Like my Nike sweatshirt and shorts.”
“I replaced them. With the same stuff. Just without the holes and stains.”
You avoided eye contact.
“But I liked the old ones.”
You could pick up an edge when he said liked. You may have miscalculated his attachment to the old clothes. Too late to go back, you trudged forward into what was looking now like an argument.
“I know but they looked so ratty so I threw them out,” you mumbled as you headed into the closet, hoping he wouldn’t hear or notice your words.
How wrong you were.
“You.. WHAT?!?”
Tom appeared at the door of the closet. His nostrils flared and a crimson color reached up his neck. You thought to cower, but you screwed up your courage.
“I. Threw. Them. Out.”
You enunciated each word, putting emphasis.
“Why in the hell would you do that? They were perfectly suitable clothes. You had no right to get rid of them!”
“They were not perfectly suitable! They were holey and ripped. You looked like a hobo! I’m tired of thinking like I am dating a homeless drug addict. I’m dating Tom fucking Hiddleston! You are better than this!”
“I either dress like I’m going to a red carpet event or like a homeless drug addict, there’s no in between!”
“Well, if I have to choose, I would rather take the red carpet! I think you don’t care anymore and where does that leave us?!” As soon as the words left your mouth, you collapsed into tears. You had never said it or even thought it, but it was true. If Tom didn’t think you were the effort to dress up, then perhaps your relationship was on its last legs. And the thought of your world without Tom in it was too hard to bear.
Tom’s expression softened and his anger turned to concern.
“Darling…” he started with hesitation. “What does my clothes have to do with our relationship? They are just clothes. And if you have seen any paparazzi photos, you would know I perfected the ‘homeless drug addict’ look years before I met you. But my feelings have and never will change.”
You gave him a weak smile.
“Except that I feel like I will hate my credit card bill next month,” Tom quipped as he gestured at the new clothes hanging in the closet.
You started laughing, and he stepped forward to envelope you in a hug. The two of you embraced and kissed. Tom held you out at arm’s length.
“Now why don’t you show my some of these new purchases? See what kind of damage you have wrecked before I send someone to go digging through the trash.”
With glee and pride, you took Tom around to show him each purchase, explaining your reasoning for each. Tom nodded and made the odd comment, but mostly was silent. You pointed out all the items you kept, including his well-worn gray boots.
“So…” you asked, turning your head as though preparing for a blow.
“I think…” Tom ran his hands through his beard in contemplation. “You put a lot of thought and effort in this. Thank you.”
With that, he kissed your forehead and headed back out to finish unpacking.
“That’s it?”
“Pretty much. I appreciate your effort and I love you for it.”
What a letdown, you thought as you left to return to the kitchen to finish dinner. You had expected more, but you were happy he was not still angry. As you finished up dinner, Tom’s favorite, and called him down to dinner. He came into the room, hands behind his back.
“It looks lovely, darling.”
“Your favorite.”
“I noticed. I also noticed that with your little clean out, we have more space in the closet.”
You cast your eyes downward.
“Yeah. I might have gotten a little overzealous. Sorry.”
You sniffled as you could feel tears threatening to reappear.
“Well, it is just as well because your new dress will take up a lot of space and my clothes as well.”
You put your utensils down, confused.
“I don’t understand. I already have my new dress for Saturday. You saw the bag hanging in the closet.”
“I don’t mean that one.”
With that, Tom slid a small red box onto your place setting. There was no stopping the tears now. With trembling fingers, Tom opened the box to reveal a beautiful solitaire ring.
“The plan was to do this on Saturday at Ben and Sophie’s but they will just have to deal with the disappointment. Y/N,” Tom kneeled down. “Despite your itchy trigger finger when it comes to my wardrobe, I love you with all my heart. And I can think of nothing I would want more than you as my bride. Will you marry me?”
You nodded your head as words failed you.
“Is that a yes?” Tom teased.
“Yes, you idiot! Of course, I will marry you.”
You throw your arms around his neck and he lifted you in a deep embrace. Tom lowered you so he could place the ring on your finger. A perfect fit. You stood there admiring your new hardware, and then you felt Tom nuzzle against your neck.
“What do you say we go to the room and celebrate properly?”
Tom swept you off your feet, literally, and carried you into the bedroom for some proper celebrating.
***
The following morning, you lie awake in bedroom admiring the ring in the light. It was a dream. You feel the rough scratch of whiskers on your shoulder. You turned to see Tom, now awake, but just.
“Tom?”
“Hmm, yes?”
“Where were you hiding the ring?”
Tom’s mouth stretched in a Cheshire cat grin.
“Well, until this trip in my workout clothes drawer, but I was afraid you would find it, so I packed it with me. Looks like I was right.”
“I guess you were. How mad are Ben and Sophie going to be?”
“Furious, I’m sure but they will get over it once I ask Ben to be my best man.”
You giggled and thought about Benedict getting mad at Tom only to turn around and forgive moments later at the request of being Tom’s best man.
“I’m sure. And I will ask Sophie to let the kids be attendants.”
“Sounds like an excellent plan.” Tom got out of bed. “Now if you don’t mind, I am going to go for a run.”
You turned on your side as Tom got dressed. As he headed out, he leaned over to kiss you. You turned to see Tom wearing some very ratty jogging clothes. You shot up in bed.
“Where the hell did those come from?”
Tom grinned and chuckled. “You forgot about my travel clothes, darling. And you will never get a hold of these.”
You lept out of bed and took chase after your fiance.
“Give those to me, Hiddleston!”
“Never!”
And with that, Tom slammed the door and headed for his daily jog while you sulked, staring at the front door.

First Kiss
Day 8 of SuperChat September
@superchat-september2k20 @zambie-trashart @loveswifi @wannajointhecrabcult
Part two of Fake Dating
Ao3 ~~~ First
~~~~~~~~~~
To say he was nervous was the understatement of the millennium. John was practically bouncing as he waited for the French class to arrive at the daily planet. He was there because he was meeting up with his mom but he need you knew this would be the perfect moment to try and pull that little witch off of him. Damian and Bruce were here too, one because he was being interviewed and the other because he hasn’t seen his girlfriend in the in person for about a month now. And honestly I might be his best friend but he should know that it was almost torture having him pine over his sister for not seeing her in so long. Okay you know what it’s Damian we are talking about he is probably only doing it to spite me.
That’s when they walked in. Jon and Damian were chatting when they saw them in there as mother to class.
“Hello there everyone you guys are French class that is touring correct?”
“OMG your Lois Lane!” a tanned skinned girl with ombré hair wearing glasses yelled. “Lila, Come on girl, your practically her daughter after all he don’t you introduce everyone?” that was when she began to pull a girl towards his mother.
“Who?” That was when she looked at Marinette, who shook her head. “Anyways we should really start the tour. Since the Daily Planet prides it’s self by always being on time with the news” she saved and the tour was about to begin.
And he didn’t think he could hold Damian any longer, kryptonite or not you were not getting between him and his ‘habibti’.
“Lois” Damian called out and his mom stopped. She was in on their plan and so far all was going smoothly. Jon looked over at Adrien and he was looking like a kitten who wanted to run and hide. But once they made eye contact he seemed to visibly relax.
“Damian, Jon I was just starting a tour would you like to join us?”
“We would love to mom” Jon answered for the two of them.
“Okay but no funny business you two.” She gave them a look before calling out to the class “That goes for you too Marinette”
“Hey that was one time”
“Yes the one time the three if you were together we had to redo the front page twice” she gave Mari a look.
“Mom we were like 10, and Jon and I are always here anyways”
“Yes but since then Damian hasn’t so no troublemaking you three.”
The entire class was was silent during their exchange until Adrien spoke up. “Mari isn’t your name Dupain-Cheng not Kent?” This wasn’t part of the plan and the shock was evident on Adrien’s face. He didn’t know she was my sister in fact he thought she knew me only because of Damian, but it’s the other way around.
“It is Kent actually. I went by Dupain-Cheng to not attract attention as well as it is the name of my host family in France” she shrugged walking up to me, mom, and Damian “by the way you two stop being so weird your not being your usual sugary sweet selves” she poked me in the chest before pecking Damian on the cheek.
I knew from the heat in my cheeks I must be scarlet and looking at Adrien, he wasn’t faring any better against her jabs.
“Tt. Honestly Kent go to your boyfriend” Damian spoke while pushing him towards Adrien.
“Well now that that is settled let’s start.” Mom called and they began the tour.
Once the group disbanded for lunch hell broke loose. Marinette and Damian seemed to have disappeared before they entered the cafeteria. Almost as if they knew what was going to happen, but he continued with the plan.
"Adrien why don't we" he was cut off again by that fan girl of his mom's.
"So your the reason Adrien can't hang out with us or Lila?" She practically sneered at him.
"I'm sorry what?" he turned to face Adrien. "Babe what's going on?" he tilted his head to the side to emphasize his confusion, but not missing how he flushed scarlet.
'sigh' "Remember when I told you someone couldn't understand the word 'No' and didn't take a hint, my knight" he responded and now was his turn to blush.
"Yes I remember you mentioning it. Wait they didn't try anything did they. You know that if I could I'd stay by your side..." he began to ramble but was again cut off by the fangirl.
"You told him not to hang out with us and that is awful. We have bareIy seen him these past two weeks. And since he told us he was dating you last week we've seen him less!" by the end she was yelling.
"You are all ridiculous, utterly ridiculous" a blonde in yellow began. "Really you haven't even let the poor boy speak and your blaming him for things he has no idea are going on." she finished, okay not part of the plan but okay.
"I don't think I would have said this before but I agree with Chloe." Marinette and Damian made a reappearance.
"Your teaming up with them too Mari. I thought you loved Adrien, but you don't care that he can't be with his friends" the fangirl was still yelling.
"How dare you insinuate anything" Damian was beginning to fume.
"Dami" she pulled him back. "Let me make this clear Alya, Adrien is practically my brother, and if my actual brother makes him happy so what of it? Damian and I are together and he makes me happy. And Adrien are you at liberty to say why you have been so busy lately?" she started in a bored tone but finished in a bubbly voice.
"I can't say more than this" he started "I am taking part in a movie and the past two weeks I have been on set." the entire class was beginning to perk at the news. "other than that I can't say more." he finished most seemed disappointed that they didn’t get more.
The rest of the tour was filled in awkward silence by the class. When the tour finally ended Mari dragged the three of them away before boarding the bus.
"We are still meeting up later for game night but Lila still won't give this up and Alya is close so time to sell it movie star" she nudged Adrien and left with Damian following her.
"Adrien, I" he didn't know how this was going to go. "I, you don't mind if I kiss you. Do you?" he was now mentally facepalming and it didn't help that Mari was giggling soon followed by her telling Damian and him chuckling.
"I" he was looking down his ears faintly pink. "I don't mind"
The two of them walked to the bus hand in hand and before he let go of his hand Jon pulled and spun Adrien towards him and kissed him.
"I'll see you soon my prince" with that he let a blushing Adrien go as he boarded the bus.
"How sweet, you called him your prince" Jon jumped.
"Dad!" now it was his turn being a blushing mess. Dad messed up my hair but both of us heard her.
"You two are hopeless" Mari stated in a volume too low to hear, unless you were Kryptonian or at least in part.
here you go anon :) hope you like it
cop!Mark Tuan x badgirl!Reader smut Warnings: explicit sexual content, a bit political  lol idk, crime, cursing
Masterlist
a/n : to the anon who requested this scenario, i hope that this is what you wanted. it turned out way darked than i had imagined, and a bit complicated too but yeah. i hope you'll enjoy and don't hesiate to check out my other works and to request if you'd want me to write something for you. ♡
You were a very private person, and you loved that about you. You took pride in the mysterious, edgy and unapproachable vibe you gave off, only a few people knowing the most sordid details, the dirtiest secrets of your life.
But there was Mark Tuan the cute police officer who wouldn't have to know so much about you if he wasn't so hardworking, always getting in your way, always there to catch you when you fall, in the most ironic way possible, almost as if he was chasing after you. Unlike most people, he knew the things you did during the nighttime, and had even arrested you for them. Of course, you were always set free when the morning came, your deeds never grave enough for you to endure more than a lonely night at the police station. But those nights weren't exactly lonely. Nine times out of ten, Mark Tuan the cute police officer was in charge of you. As a good cop, he was obligated to ask you some questions, try to get something out of your quiet, stubborn self. With you answering his questions with silly remarks or other questions, he'd never succeeded.
- "Why did you tag someone's house with spraypaint?"
- "You're really cute, you know that?"
- "How can you be wandering outside at such late hours?"
- "Tss, that ain't no question to ask a young lady."
- "Do you really enjoy getting in trouble?"
- "Do you really enjoy endorsing and perpetrating brutality as a job?"
You weren't exactly what you could call a "cop-friendly" person, and to you, Mark was in the enemy camp. But he really was cute, and teasing him amused you so much that you found yourself enjoying his company - if you could call it like that. Seeing his ears redden in exasperation, and his teeth digging into the flesh of his bottom lip when you got on his thin nerves was oddly satisfying. You would lie if you said you'd never imagined his teeth sinking into your own bottom lip as he'd do things to you on the interrogation table. And sometimes, on nights when your teasing went really far, you could swear the sexual tension between you was palpable in the air. But fantasies were all they were, and reality had always settled a fair enough distance between you, a distance that neither of you dared to decrease. As far as you were concerned, Mark Tuan just made your nights at the police station less lonely, and he made you laugh. You found it amazing, almost poetic, how you would always bump into each other, constantly getting in each other's way, as if it was meant to be. You had hoped to contemplate that thought again next time you'd spend a night in his company at the police station... You had no idea your paths would cross again sooner, at the most unexpected place that was his very house.
After a successful protest you'd participated in, you'd gone to have drinks with some friends to celebrate. They told you that, despite the protest being a success and the government's detrimental project abandoned, a lot of protesters were injured due to police brutality. Normally, you wouldn't have overreacted, that kind of thing being normal, almost conventional. But tonight, you were tipsy, adrenalized, and pissed, so you'd decided to pay the police department a little visit.
You weren't looking for Mark specifically. In fact, you weren't looking for anyone specifically. How could you know which house he lived in when you were literally in a police dorm-town? Your friends called it the "police district". You'd never felt bold enough to sneak in there, but again, you were tipsy and adrenalized. Nothing seemed impossible to you. It was around midnight, and it wasn't difficult to sneak into the first house in which the lights were out. You were quite experienced in this field. As you had expected, they didn't bother with security installations, too arrogant and full of themselves to think anyone would stand a chance against them. You didn't care. You didn't come here to fight anyway. You just wanted to annoy them a little, like you always did.
You hopped inside the house from the window, which, fortunately but unsurprisingly, wasn't locked. You let your bag fall to the ground of what seemed to be the kitchen, and snooped around, looking for anything to break or to mess with. You tried to make as little noise as possible, but your ears were buzzing from the adrenaline. You were probably louder than you thought, or Mark's hearing was very developed... You barely registered his footseps approaching. When he burst into the room, hair discheveled from sleep and dressed in nothing but sweatpants, you were thunderstruck. You jaw nearly dropped at the sight of him, the only thought floating in your mind being "meant to be".
He looked just as flabbergasted, and you laughed. Your laugh then turned into a smirk.
- "Well well... hello, sleeping beauty."
Mark cleared his throat, visibly trying to hide how much your presence affected him.
- "What- what the hell are you doing here?"
- "Umm... I was hanging around, and I thought why not pay you a little visit?" you said, still smirking.
You were lying, and he knew it. There was no way in hell you could've figured out where he lived. If he was honest, he was also starting to believe this situation was a prank pulled on him by fate. He would've turned you in if it wasn't for that thought, as crazy as it was.
- "This doesn't occur every other day, does it?" you teased, feeling bolder than ever after seeing his hesitation. "Why don't we take advantage of this great opportunity and have some fun, what do you think, officer?"
Free from any more hesitations, his response was immediate. Who would've thought that, one night, you'd find yourself trapped between Mark Tuan the cute police officer's body and the wall of his kitchen, as his lips crashed onto yours... You'd imagined what kissing him would feel like more than once, but it was nothing compared to reality. His lips were soft, but the kiss was ruthless, letting out months and months of sexual tension, a persistent need waiting to finally be satisfied.
Impatiently, Mark lifted your shirt and threw it across the room. You held onto his shoulders and locked your legs around his waist, while he left numerous marks down your neck. You moaned and tugged at his hair, eliciting a growl from the back of his throat and causing him to press his growing bulge harder against you. In the blink of an eye, your bra fell to the floor and he immediately started toying with your bare breasts. His lips and fingers worked on your nipples, and you struggled not to moan to loudly, not wanting the entire police district to hear how worked up you were getting.
Soon enough, Mark was carrying you towards his room and pushed you down on the bed, lips never leaving yours. When he finally separated your bodies to catch his breath - and help you catch yours - he ridded you of your jeans. His eyes darkened at the sight of the wet patch that your arousal had formed on the thin fabric of your panties.
- "Fuck" he breathed out. "Soaking wet just for me."
He spread your legs further and pushed your panties to the side before plunging a finger into you. You moaned loudly at the pleasurable intrusion, your head thrown back into the mattress and eyes falling shut. He slowly pumped his finger in and out of your core, enjoying the view of you squirming underneath him. The sounds you made were driving him wild and, wanting to hear more, he added another finger and sped up his movements.
- "Oh my God!"
You were a moaning and whimpering mess, his fingers hitting all the right spots inside you. They felt delicious, but you needed more of him. Trying your hardest to speak through the intense pleasure he was giving you, you uttered:
- "Mark, please" he stopped and looked up at you with lust-filled eyes. "I need you."
He removed his fingers and pulled down his pants and boxers, his angry cock slapping against his stomach. He hovered above you and aligned his member to your entrance. But, suddenly, as he was about to give you what you were craving, he reached for something on his nightstand. Through the dim lights filtering from outside, you barely caught sight of something metallic before you felt something cold wrap around your wrist. Your smirk reappeared as you realized what he was doing. He looked at you intensely, asking you for permission to continue with his eyes, and you nodded, more than thrilled and - somehow - even more turned on. He returned your smile and finished cuffing your hands to the headboard.
Before you could say anything, Mark knocked the breath out of your lungs when he slid inside you in one sharp thrust. You moaned in unison, relishing the intense satisfaction you were feeling. He gave you enough time to adjust to his impressive size, while trying to gather some self-control at how good your tight walls felt around him. He pulled out almost entirely before crashing his hips into yours again, making you cry out his name. He repeated his motions several times, slowly, making you agonize. You pulled on your restraints, wanting to touch him, hold on to him, tryig to lift your hips for more. Seeing how desperate you were, Mark picked up his pace, fucking into you hard and fast, making the bed squeak. Mark Tuan the cute police officer was long gone, replaced by the animalistic man sweating and grunting on top of you, occasionally biting your bottom lip just like you'd always wanted him to.
Your climax was fast-approaching, and Mark could sense it from the way you clenched around his cock. He gripped your hip tighter, possessively, while his other arm went down so he could lower himself and press his body flush against yours. You lifted your legs and locked them higher around his waist as a response, making him hit you from a new angle that had you seeing stars.
- "Right there" he whispered sinfully into your ear when you moaned particularly loud for him.
The sound of his deep, raspy voice was all you needed to fall over the edge, screaming and chanting his name like a mantra, like a "thank you". He continued his thrusts, riding out your high while chasing his own. He wouldn't last long with your walls clenching uncontrollably around him, viciously gripping his member. He buried his face in the crook of your neck, trying to muffle his high-piched moans, because he was dangerously close. After a few more sloppy thrusts, he pulled out, a string of curses leaving his lips as he came all over your abdomen.
The sight alone was enough to turn you on again, and you almost suggested a round two, but you were exhausted, and you were sure he was too. He released you from the handcuffs and handed you a wet towel to clean up. Afterwards, he collapsed next to you and, just a few seconds later, you were both fast asleep.
The next morning when Mark woke up, there was no one beside him. He looked around, wondering if your clothes were still there, but they were gone. He blinked, slightly overtaken. Did he dream what'd happened last night? No, he didn't. He could still smell you in his bedsheets. Then where did you go? Probably home, or somewhere else, who knows. You could be anywhere. Mark didn't really mind, because he could feel it in his guts that you'd meet again someday, probably during one of your reckless nights, and you'd end up with him at the police station again.
He didn't know it yet, but you left another, visible trace of your passage at his house. If he had been careful, if he had paid a little more attention, maybe he would've noticed. He should've known better. He should've remembered that you had come here to do something in the first place. He should've realized that you actually loved getting in trouble, because you caused even more trouble that way. When he would leave his house for work this morning and discover what you had done, he would scoff and shake his head in disbelief, but he would admit that he was impressed. All over his façade wall, crossing his window and front door, you had sprayed in big red letters:
A Real Puzzle
Tumblr media
Summary: You’re a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent on a walk home, your night is rudely interrupted
Part: 1/1
Pairing: Matt Murdock x reader
Warnings: violence? none?
Word count: 1,592
A/N: Hello! I’m back in the groove of writing, so please send in requests!
~
The wind rippled through your hair and nipped at any exposed skin, sending a chill down your spine as you walked the streets. An edge to the air had you pulling your shoulder bag close to your frame and your eyes darting about the empty area. Dimly lit lights marked the pathway, stars hardly visible within the depths of the sky. The only comfort provided was a young woman jogging with her german shepherd ahead, a witness at the very least. But soon enough that comfort faded into the shadows. A clang from behind had you instinctively turning your head, your feet quickening their pace as you took in the dark empty. A shudder tickled your spine but you pressed onward. A heavy thud sounded to your left and you began to quicken your pace once again, too tired to deal with any bullshit tonight.
It was so quick you barely caught yourself in the fall, hands grappling for a hold but coming up with nothing but gravel. Flipping yourself on your back you stretched toward your wrapped ankles, fingers struggling to remove the blade from within your boot. Once it was cut you were quick to your feet, searching for your attacker in the velvet of the night. A dark, hooded figure emerged from the trees and was reeling back their chain to whip once again. You bolted between the trees, zig zagging as you ran across the muddy pathway. The ground was trying to swallow your shoes, in fact it almost did several times.
“You’ve. Gotta. Be. Fucking. Kidding. Me.” It was simply your sort of luck to be attacked by some psycho with a chain whip, in the park, alone, at nine at night. Your endurance was holding but you had been out of work for months, your shoulder barely finished in its healing, and soon enough you knew it would run out. Shelter. You were in desperate need of a sanctuary and fast. An idea pinged inside your mind and you began to test your luck in the open, sprinting down alleyways and cutting corners. Sparks fly when the chain strikes the pavement in front of you, your feet halting momentarily but enough for the culprit to strike you across your right calf. A cry slipped from your lips as you turned to face your opponent, blade in hand.
They maintained a distance, which meant they were smart in keeping themselves in their element but could suggest they were weak in hand to hand. Maybe you were insane but you thought the risk was your only option, so you sprinted at them. Their shape suggested male, but underneath the cloak it was a tad difficult to confirm. Either way they were no novice in a fight, even in hand to hand they were quite formidable. However, you were more so. He was strong and relentless but you were quick and patient. You played your hand, one trick at a time, just as you were trained to. He was a talent, but he was no Natasha Romanoff. She made him seem less terrifying, for he was too reliant on his brutish strength whereas she believed in tactics.
“Need a hand?” You were nearly thrown by the new voice, gruff but gentle, emanating from around the corner. After dealing a stun-like blow to the strangers head, your eyes glanced at the newcomer with intrigue. Shaking your head, you smirked softly at the man who had ‘come to your rescue’. He was exactly who you were hoping to find, but your pride was a bit wounded by his inquiry.
“Not yet, just stand there and look pretty. Unless you’d like to speed this up by being his punching bag.” You sent a wink, ducking as the aggressor swung a left hook. A chuckle from your left and suddenly it was two on one, you allowed your partner to take the blunt of the blows while you strategize strikes. Two separate and simultaneous kicks to the chest and the assailant disappears into the alley. You half expect him to reappear with an attempted sneak attack, and yet the continued silence negates that theory. You venture cautiously, scanning the vacant alleyway before trailing up the walls and peering up at the rooftops.
“You hear him?” Your eyes didn’t flicker down to the Devil of Hell’s kitchen, remaining above instead. He mutters a ‘no’ as he approaches, stalling for a moment before smirking slyly.
“What gave me away?” If you were being honest, it was the way he fought and how smooth his motions were. But, you weren’t being honest.
“Your voice for starters. And I’d recognize that sly smirk anywhere, Red.” He seemed off put by the sudden nickname but only for a moment before leading you up the fire escape to his apartment. “You were just the blind crusader I was hoping to ‘bump’ into.”
“Aw shucks.” He removed his mask, walking to his kitchen and holding up a bottle of whiskey. You shook your head and he nodded in recollection. “Right, how’s the shoulder.”
“Super Doc!” He shook his head slightly, a soft smile stretching across his lips as he lifted your legs and sat underneath them. “Almost cleared, going through phys.”
There was a blanket of silence over the room, both of you likely thinking through the night’s event with great scrutiny. Who? Motive? Solo or Hired? Dozens of questions and theories compiled within your mind like an ever growing leaf pile in the fall. Something was eating at you, and you couldn’t fight it off. Swinging your feet off Matt’s lap you made your way to the windows, searching the skyline and eyeing the streets.
“He’s not here, I don’t hear him.” You turn to look at Matt, who now stood beside you, your eyes studying his features in the neon lighting. “How did you know I could hear like that?”
“I’ve seen the way you tilt your head when listening to people, and how you react to their words. At first I thought, ‘huh, he must hear their tone and judge from that’, but then I got to thinking about what would be a bigger tell.” You smirked softly and shrugged, knowing he could hear it well enough to decipher. “A heartbeat. Not a totally crazy theory considering the inhumans I’ve come across. Plus, it would account for your ability to be a human lie detector.”
“I should’ve known you of all people would be able to put the puzzle together.” The smile he had plastered on his face had your chest tightening.
“I’m fucking amazing at puzzles.” You rested your cheek on Matt’s shoulder and felt the vibrations of his laugh. “You laugh, but I’m serious. I’ve got mad puzzle skills.”
“That so?” You smirk, walking over to his kitchen and grabbing water from his fridge.
“Yes it is, mister I wear devil's horns in public and it's not a kink.” You pause and your smirk grows bigger. “Or is it?”
He throws a pillow at you but you catch it with ease and launch it back at his head. This was something you had missed over the past few months, you had been so preoccupied with your injury and regaining your footing that you had sort of ghosted your best friend. You sat back on the couch and wrapped your arms around Matt when he joined you.
“I’ve missed your kinky ass.” Matt smacked your head with a pillow but chuckled softly.
“I’ve missed you too, you gremlin.” You gasped, taking the pillow from his hand and holding it above his head. “You wouldn’t hit a mostly blind man, would you?”
“Oh absolutely, if that blind man is your dumbass.”
Your neck cracked as you tilted your head from side to side, scanning the skyline once again out of habit. Mostly. You still couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched. But perhaps that was just Matt sneaking up on you.
“Alright ninja, calm it with the sneaking.” You smacked his chest, smiling up at his bedhead. “I do not need to have a heart attack today.”
“You’re the former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Shouldn’t you be prepared for something like that?” He sighed softly as he ran a hand through his messy hair. “Still not here you creature of habit.”
“Gee, you sweet talker. Take me now.” There was a slight blush on his cheeks and you became increasingly more curious.
“We need to talk about what happened last night. I’m assuming you don’t know our friend in black.” His change in topic would not detour your subconscious as it rattled off suggestions of how to proceed with your newfound knowledge.
“I’m afraid we skipped the small talk and I will definitely be swiping left.” Your stomach growled like an animal and the conversation halted while Matt offered to take you to breakfast. “Gasp. So soon?”
“I could just shove you out on the fire escape.” He smirked as you smacked him once again, but dropping it the moment you inched close.
“You love me too much Murdock.” His cheeks flushed and he cleared his throat before walking to his bedroom to change. “Oh, and Matt?”
“Yeah?” He called from his room, a shirt slipping over his scar littered torso.
“You’re not the only one who can tell if a person’s heart rate spikes. I just winked in case you were wondering.” You giggled at the crimson overtaking the pale complexion of his cheeks. “It seems we have two conversations to have, Matty.”
A Few Years Early
Damien shook his head. “No. No, you cannot actually be bringing that.”
Celine rolled her eyes. “Yes, I am.”
“Celine, please, this is going to be the first time we’ve visited them in months.”
“You act like you didn’t write to them nearly every day of our trip.”
“I didn’t write to them about that!”
Celine looked him in the eyes and put the bag in the car. Damien opened his mouth to argue more, and then huffed. Celine smirked, a triumphant twinkle in her eyes. She’d won this battle.
“Fine. But I’m not engaging with it,” Damien said as they both got into the car. The driver closed their doors for them and then got in, starting up the engine.
“Why not? How can you not be excited to show them our new abilities?”
“Because it’s- it’s just weird! And besides, I’m pretty sure that witchcraft-”
“Oh, not this again-”
“-is still illegal! We’re not even in our twenties, and I’d rather not go to prison! Or worse!”
“If you hate it so much then why did you even bother learning it with me?”
“Because I’m not going to let you do something so potentially dangerous all by yourself!”
Celine glared at him. “I shouldn’t even have told you.”
Damien crossed his arms. “We were sharing a room, you could hardly have hidden it. You practiced every night.”
“If we hadn’t been sharing a room I would have kept it a secret.”
Damien scoffed. “Oh, please. You would have told me within a year.”
“I would have kept it a secret until your house was haunted, and you needed someone to fix the problem.” With that, she dug her earplugs out of her bag and out them in.
Damien watched her, incredulous. “Until? Why would she say until like it’s a guarantee?” he said to himself as he turned to look out his own window. “She can’t see into the future yet, she doesn’t know if I’ll be haunted. At least I don’t think she can.”
Celine could feel the slight worry rolling off her brother as he fretted about her little comment. She stifled a giggle.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The top of The Manor came into view above the trees. They were still a ways away, but close enough that Damien started to really get excited.
“I wonder what new stories they have to tell,” he said. He and Celine had gotten over their little argument not long into the drive, and had been playing cards for quite awhile.
“I bet you a week’s worth of dessert that William has gotten into at least six fights.”
Damien thought for a moment, and then shook his head. “No, those odds are heavily in your favor. I imagine it’s been over six.”
Celine nodded and placed down a card. “Probably. I wonder what his aura will look like. If it’ll be more angry or prideful.”
“Well I know Mark’s will have a good deal of pride in it.” Damien chuckled. “Remember when he climbed up onto the roof just because William bet him that he couldn’t? I almost had a heart attack.”
Celine smiled, and then shrugged. “I’m guessing it’s false.”
“Really?” Damien looked up from the game, curious.
“Well, he’s obviously got a lot of pride, but I don’t think it’ll be the main part.”
“... I suppose that’s fair. He’s very creative, maybe that’ll be the majority of it.”
They both looked up from their game to check how close they were. The top of The Manor loomed much closer.
“I can’t wait to show off our abilities,” Celine said, staring at the spires and roof. “That place is certain to be haunted, I could tell even before we left that there was something odd about it.”
“I think the only who can’t feel it is Mark,” Damien said.
“Well, he was practically born there. He probably is so used to it that if we blindfolded him and pulled him into a completely different haunted manor he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.”
“I really hope you don’t end up summoning something.” Damien sighed.
“We won’t summon anything. Mark and his family have never complained of anything that would suggest the ghosts are malicious, anyway. It’s probably just some rich people who didn’t want to leave their possession when they died.”
“I told you, I’m not helping with this.”
“Oh, come on. The ghost are more likely to show up when you help, they’re more comfortable around you.”
“Well, I can’t deny that I’m the more...” Damien searched for the right word.
“Soft?” Celine suggested.
“... I know I should take that as an insult, but, yes.”
The car stopped, and moments later the driver opened their doors. The twins got out, Celine holding her bag, Damien holding some small gifts that he got for his friends.
They walked up to the doors, and Damien shivered. “This place feels... a lot worse than I remember.”
Celine took one hand off the handles of her bag to pull her shawl tighter around her. “Yeah... I knew it would feel different now, but not... this different.”
Damien knocked on the door. He pulled his hand away like he had touched a hot pan. He looked at Celine. “I don’t like that. At all.”
Celine nodded, staring at the doors. She reached up to adjust her hat, and then cursed. “Damn! I left my hat in the car. I’ll be right back.”
“That hardly seems-” Damien stopped. Celine was already running back. He sighed and shook his head. She’d gotten the hat from one of her... teachers, on the trip. She never went anywhere without it anymore.
Moments later Mark pulled open the door. He grinned at Damien, who could just feel the excitement pouring off of his friend. “Damien! Finally, it feel like it’s been years!”
Damien laughed. “I know! It’s nice to finally be back! Celine will be right with us, she forgot something in the car.”
“Great! William is already here, if you couldn’t tell.” They both listened for a second. Damien could hear William’s voice booming from within the house, jovial and just... very loud. “He’s been telling stories to Benjamin for the last half hour. We’ll be like heroes when we finally drag Wil away from him.”
The boys both laughed. “Anyway, come in!” Mark stepped to the side and threw his arm out. “My parents will be home in only a few hours, so if we want to get into the wine we should do it soon.”
“Mark, I’ve said it a thou-” Damien cut himself off as soon as he stepped into The Manor.
“Dames?” Mark waved a hand in front of his frozen friend’s face. “Hello? Are you alright?”
Damien felt like his breath had been pulled out of his lungs. He could feel a deep cold sinking into his bones, coming from within the very walls around him. The shadows loomed far bigger and far darker than they should have, and...
He felt something touching him. Brushing past his ears, wrapping around his chest, his arms, his legs. It was barely there, yet it gripped him so tight it felt like he would bruise.
He was frozen, trying to process what was happening. He could see Mark’s hand waving in front of his eyes, feel the growing concern from his friend, but he couldn’t react. There was just- just too much wrong.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mark pulled his hand away and tried poking Damien. “Is this a prank? A trick? What’re you doing?”
“What wrong with Damien?” Celine asked as she jogged up, hand on her hat. Mark shrugged.
“He just... froze.”
“Well, there must be some reason.” Celine stepped into the house.
And she screamed.
Her bag fell out of her hand as it flew up to cover her mouth. Mark stopped messing with Damien and hurried to help Celine, but she didn’t try to pick her bag back up. She stared at the walls, horrified.
The world had gone a rotten greenish-gray as soon as she had stepped in. The walls were covered in... cracks? Vines? Whatever they were, they oozed some kind of black substance, thick and almost blood-like. Whispers buzzed in her ears. She felt something clawing at her soul, trying to get in, the whispers just begging her to let it in-
And then Mark came into view, and she screamed again. She stumbled back, her breakfast threatening to make a reappearance.
He stared at her with cold, dead eyes, dripping with the same substance as the walls. His skin was gray, lifeless, and when he put his hand on her shoulder it felt freezing. He was frowning, and she could tell he was asking if she was okay, but she couldn’t hear him over the whispers.
And around him...
Tendrils of shadow curled around his body, shifting around him, clinging to him. They stroked his face with horrifying gentleness. They gathered around his heart, pressed on it, trying to infect it. They swirled around his head, drifting into his ears to press their whispers deeper into his mind. Celine could see the way they had already infested his aura, only slightly but clearly there.
And for a second, she saw what he would become if it spread further.
She stumbled out of the house and vomited on the stairs.
“Celine!” Mark came rushing out of the doors to help her, lending her his shoulders to lean on when she stood back up. “Did you both catch something while you were away? Come, let’s get you some water, you can rest on the couch-”
“I’m not going back in there,” she said, cutting him off. “Get Damien back out here. Push him if you have to! And get William. We need to leave. Now.”
Mark looked at her like she’d gone crazy. “What? No, you need to rest!”
“Not in that house!” she shouted. She took her arm down and grabbed Mark by the shoulders, staring into his eyes. “There’s something evil in there, Mark, and it’s dangerous. I can feel it. I can see it. We need to get far, far away from here.”
She and Mark stared at each other, concern meeting determination, and determination won.
“Okay.” He nodded. “Okay, we can go somewhere else.” He stepped back into the house, and Celine shuddered when she noticed the way his aura went from tense to relaxed as soon as he stepped in.
Mark tried getting Damien’s attention one more time, and then shrugged. He gave Damien a light shove, only enough to push Damien out the door. Celine caught her brother before he fell.
Damien blinked rapidly a few times, and then shivered. “Very bad,” he gasped.
Celine knew that Damien had experienced something different from what she did. Their abilities were different, his focused more on sensations and feelings, hers more so on visions and sounds. But she didn’t doubt that whatever he experienced was... just horrifying.
“I know.” She looked at her bag, steeled herself, and snagged it out of the house as fast as she could.
She helped him to his feet and they stood by the bottom of the stairs, waiting. Mark came out, a very confused William trailing after him.
“Why’re we moving the party?” William asked as Celine grabbed his arm and started pulling him over to the still-waiting car.
“We just need to... not be here.” Celine looked back to make sure Mark and Damien were following. They were, Mark asking Damien questions that were undoubtedly similar to William’s. “I’ll explain in the car.”
“Okay... where are we going?”
“Back to our house.” The driver didn’t ask questions as they all piled in, the twins sitting in the middle. Mark and William pulled their doors closed before the driver could reach them.
“Why your house?” Mark looked out the window. “It’s a beautiful day, we should go to the park. I have blankets in the house, and I’m sure The Chef could quickly whip something up. I could just run in and-”
“No!” Mark jumped a bit at Damien’s shout. “No, no-one should be going back there.”
“We’re going to our house so I can use the phone.” Celine bug through her bag and took out an old book. The pages were yellowed and crinkled, the leather cover worn and flimsy. She opened it up and began flipping through. “I don’t think there’s anything in here about dealing with the removal of demonic influence, so we’ll have to consult on of our teachers...”
Mark spluttered, his confusion only growing. “Demonic influences? What the hell are you on about? What teachers?”
William looked at the book. Drawings of odd symbols, crystals, creatures that he swore he’d seen in his nightmares... “What the hell did you two do on your vacation?”
     Your thing was Brian was great, it was. But you also loved the times when you came over and sex was the last thing on either of your minds.
    Brian made it clear one night. Hey, can we have a chill night tonight? he texted.
     course we can, you replied. see u in two hours.
    You’d turned up with Cards Against Humanity to find the boys already wrapped up in an intense game of Scrabble.
    But as if the ‘intense’ part needed to be pointed out. Every game of Scrabble was intense with those four.
    Four heads poked up from behind the couch when you entered, and they all smiled and said hello, but quickly disappeared again, focusing back on the game.
    You set the game and your jacket on the table. “Tea?” you called on your way to the kitchen.
    You heard four yeses in response, and made sure to fill the kettle up to the brim.
    You helped yourself to some dried apricots as you waited for the water to boil – either Brian or John had clearly done the grocery shopping this week, as there was finally proper food in the house, as opposed to when Freddie or Roger went shopping and instead came home with things like bottles of wine and shitty caviar and boxes of water crackers with nothing to put on them and, on one occasion, a faux fur coat.
    You heard an argument break out in the living room. It started off as bickering, and, as you popped another dried apricot into your mouth and started collecting everyone’s mugs – Brian’s was the large matte black one, Roger liked the smaller one with a sketch of a Fender guitar, John’s was the yellow mug with the large handle, and Freddie used a soup mug – the bickering turned into yelling, dotted with more swearing. You waited for the sound of the board being smacked to the floor, but, no, there was Freddie, calming everyone down as he usually did, and the yelling turned into muttering that you couldn’t pick up.
    You chose a hideously ugly mug that had the word ‘King’ on it, written in tacky elegant writing. It used to have a partner, a mug that said ‘Queen’ in the same text, and none of the boys knew where the mugs had come from, but Roger had smashed the ‘Queen’ one a few months ago when he’d been pissed off at something or other.
    The kettle stopped boiling. You added tea bags to each of the mugs and filled them with water.
    One sugar for you and a dash of milk, no sugar but a healthy dash of milk for Freddie, half a sugar and a dash of milk for Brian, two sugars and a splash of milk for John, and one-and-a-half sugars and one and a half dashes of milk for Roger.
    You carried them out two at a time.
    “Cheers,” Roger said when you handed his over. “Is it one-and-three-sevenths sugars?”
    “Yes,” you lied. As if he could tell the difference between one-and-a-half and one-and-three-sevenths, the prick.
    You finally fetched your own tea, and settled on the couch behind John to watch the game.
    It only took about ten minutes before you were joining Freddie on the floor, the two of you a team. Scrabble wasn’t your favourite, but it was impossible to avoid playing it at some point when you spent so much time here.
    Brian won. As he often did.
    Roger sulked. Also as he often did.
    You quickly took the opportunity to guide everyone’s interests into Cards Against Humanity before a new round of Scrabble could start up again, and, thankfully, you convinced them.
    “Does anyone want anything while I’m up?” you said, heading over to the table where you’d left the game.
    “It’s fine, I’ll get it,” Brian said, collecting up all the mugs and getting to his feet with a groan.
    “What are you getting?” John asked.
    “I bought some pastries today,” Brian said over his shoulder, and his three housemates gasped.
    “What?” Freddie exclaimed. “When?”
    “When I did the shopping,” Brian said. He disappeared into the kitchen, and reappeared with a box from the bakery down the street. Roger, Freddie, and John perked up like a couple of meerkats, eyes fixated on the box.
    “Is there a chocolate éclair?” Roger said. “I want the éclair.”
    “I want a Danish,” Freddie said. “But only if it’s apple, did you get an apple one, darling?”
    “I’m having the custard tart,” John said.
    “God, you’re like children, you lot,” Brian said. “There’s plenty for everyone.”
    “But is the Danish an apple one?”
    “Yes, Fred.”
    Freddie clapped his hands.
    Brian stopped at the table, and opened the box, presenting it to you. “Guests first.” His smile was soft and warm, his eyes equally so. Sometimes you forgot how nice it was to just be like this, without needing to tear each other’s clothes off. To just enjoy some time together, in a different kind of way.
    “Thanks,” you said with a grin, and chose a caramel slice.
    You and Brian went and sat down with the others, and they dove into the pastries like they were men on the brink of starvation.
    John won three out of four games of Cards Against Humanity. You were pretty happy about winning one, but John was by far the master. His mind was far more twisted than anyone gave him credit for, and he wore that badge with pride.
    After the games, you all had a second cup of tea and decided to watch a film. There was arguing back and forth for at least twenty minutes, but in the end, everyone was happy enough to watch an episode of Planet Earth II. You were nestled in between Brian and Freddie, with Roger and John at your feet on the floor.
    It was something else, watching a film or show with the four boys. Roger and Freddie were restless creatures; Roger had to constantly be told to stop drumming, and Freddie would often get up and wander around like he was looking for something. John’s specialty was that he fell right asleep after not even half an hour. Brian made little noises, just hums and grumbles and grunts in response to whatever was happening or what was said. It drove Roger mad, but you were used to it.
    You rarely finished a movie. Roger and Freddie would get too bored to finish it, and would start chatting. Usually you and Brian would slip away to his bedroom, but this time you curled up on the couch in the space Freddie had left when he’d gone on one of his wanderings around the room. You kept having to shake yourself awake, until Roger came over and patted you on the face, making your screw up your nose.
    “Go to bed,” he said.
    “I’m fine,” you said.
    “Go to bed.”
    “Leave me alone.”
    “Go to bed. I’ll carry you there.”
    “Carry me where?” you said. “All the way home?”
    “You can sleep in my room; I’ll take the couch.”
    “Don’t be ridiculous, Roger. You can sleep in my bed with me,” Freddie said.
    Brian squeezed your ankle. “Go on,” he urged you. “I’ll get Deaky to bed, too.”
    You pouted. Roger took your wrist and tugged you to your feet, and then pulled you all the way to his room. “G’night,” he said. “Sleep well.”
    “I gotta get ready for bed,” you said.
    “Well, you know where your toothbrush is. I’m gonna play some Xbox, but I’ll keep the noise down, yeah?”
    You nodded. “Thanks, Rog.”
    He disappeared, and you shuffled to the bathroom. John was in there, brushing his teeth, droopy-eyed, and you joined him at the sink. Neither of you spoke a word, too tired to talk, but when John was done he mumbled, “Sleep well,” and shuffled out.
    When you were done in the bathroom, Brian was there waiting outside for you, and he guided you to Roger’s room with a hand on the small of your back. He gave you a hug goodnight and a kiss on the forehead, and then you closed the door behind you, stripped to your underwear, and curled up in Roger’s bed, listening to the faint sounds of Roger and Freddie laughing and chatting, and the sounds of gunfire and explosions coming from the TV, as you drifted off to sleep.
