Had this weird story idea about a big dragon with runes all over him, and he's like a paper accordion that could unwind for thousands of miles, and the only way you could defeat him was if you were able to read every single rune on the dragon's papery body, and discern the long riddle of the princess who turned her labyrinthine library into her living armor in the form of a colossal and endless dragon . So far every knight that tried to off the dragon with fire, rain, whatever, was met with *death by a thousand paper cuts*. But the dragon don't really kill them, bc dragon is actually squeamish Lol. But since the entire kingdom is enrobed by the pages of a large dragon, there are entire university branches dedicated to discerning the riddle of the princess, why, why did she turn into a dragon, why is this her curse. And their culture shifts around literature, books and academia being treated as the holiest, most venerable form of knowledge. But anyway a cringefail and autistic kitchen boy loves math. He had come from a long line of dedicated scholars of the book. Boring and trifling matters like arithmetic were considered ignoble when in comparison to the mystery of the paper dragon. And the boy disagreed, of course. He loved books and all but was easily frustrated by them, he cannot focus on it, he needs the abstract to become concrete in his mind, he is the kind of boy who looks at a bridge and marvels at the sheer architecture it took to build a bridge before he is astounded by the bas relief;

he loves the world as it is and wants to tease out the blueprints. Anyway, when he was a boy, his mama used to tell him the story of the paper dragon, with only the first two pages of the dragons body being successfully interpreted by scribes. It had been about a princess who loved looking towards the stars and recording the sun's positions through refracted telescopes. And how she had a library filled with endless knowledge.

And the boy read and read the two pages and was enchanted by the mystery of the princess' riddle. In his teenaged life the boy would see the dragon flying above him while he was climbing an almond tree, and he makes out one of the pages along its infinite body as having similar lyrics to the known pages.

And it bothers the boy, all day he'd think about it. And he thinks about the princess who locked herself in her tower, watching the sun through refracted telescopes, and made dedicated sketches and notes every day to discern where the sun had spots; and it sort of connects in his mind that those sunspot sketches helped form an image of the sun, in a way, so he does the same.

Every day he'd just watch the dragon, and waited for the repeating lyric, and noted it down, until he had a long and fucked up diorama of the dragon; It takes him 12 years to be able to reliably predict where on the dragon's body the lyric shows up again.

when folded a certain way, in accordance to where the lyric shows up, the dragon's papery accordion body, the dragon forms a star at its core.

written in a spiral, the story forms into an answer to the princess' riddle; "I want to be free, I want to be free, I want to be free, I want to be free,"

over and over and over. In all aspects the princess who was a prince all along had wanted to be free, and the only way he could think of escaping the confines of his life and the fear of misunderstanding, of everyone wanting to harm him or to treat him as unnuanced a person for wanting to be something else...... was to transform into a paper dragon, more unquestionable than a normal human boy who loved drawing pictures of the sun-

The boy who loved math looked at the folded piece of paper in his hands, now he held the answer to the riddle of the prince, and he'd look to the sky to see the dragon flying above him like an endless kite. And he'd smile up at the dragon, scrunching the paper star in his hands. And hed whisper, I love you, I know you. I see you .

And he could have sworn the dragon smiled back at him.

Luxu/Xigbar headcanons

i swtg i love him a normal amount and im going to be normal about these headcanons

yes i am working on prints again it is a slow time consuming process

Luxu is the baby of the original fortellers, beat out by gula in height and ava in age by nearly 2 years. Hes been training to use a key blade with practice ones, the scene we see in khux back cover is the first time he ever has his own keyblade and it appears it was made from the master of masters heart rather than his own.

Space has always been his jam, even before getting space magic as xigbar/braig. His room in the daybreak town clocktower is basically the equivalent of the nursery in encanto and he is the only one still there. he doesnt get a big fancy room or a union like the others but he can decorate however he likes. Luxu went with a galaxy theme: star map across the ceiling, planetarium hanging from the rafters, he even has his own little telescope for star gazing

because he likes to stargaze, he has a terrible penchant for climbing vantage points. has fallen out of more trees than he can count.

his favorite spot to stargaze is that hill he and ava fought on.

he loves flowers but braig and several other of is vessels have had allergies.

luxu has a terrible speech impediment. its not as bad by his teens but he does still struggle to talk a lot, especially around MoM and Aced because they stresses him out.

As Xigbar he puts on a good show but his stutter comes back with a vengence when hes flustered or upset.

i read somewhere that someone had estimated the time between keyblade wars as 275-300 years. that means luxu could have between 8 and 11 bodies depending on how long they lived ( not including his original one)

Xigbar has a recurring nightmare about not being able to remember his original face or voice, about forgetting his name.

he has a terrible habit of sleeping in other peoples rooms in the castle that never was. i guess he's comforted by the scent of others rather than the omnipresent stink of darkness.

shippy headcanon but he loves to sleep with my oc shep bc she smells like coconut and is very warm and soft as a pillow

total foodie, ruined at least one vessel by shall we say "over indulging". needless to say lesson learned, he has a pretty strict exercise regime so he can eat as he pleases.

im not sure what is more unfortunate a fate for him, dying in kh4 live long enough to see yourself become the villain style, or surviving kh4 and wishing he'd died a hero.

if you look up the phrase "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" you will see several pictures of luxu throughout the years.

the reason he seems so self assured and even cocky at times is because he is laser focused on his goal and that has not changed in nearly 300 years.

if he stopped for one second to think about anything besides that he would literally just pancake under the stress of it all.

post kh4 / in a redemption au people treat xemnas harshly but are ultimately pretty tolerant of his presence/existence. esp after finding out the truth about MoM and his manipulation of Xehanort.

however if they see luxu its fucking on sight.

speaking of on sight, luxu is looking a little worse for ware these days. when he was possessed by one of the darkness's that MoM sealed in him he was positively eldritch looking. fractured iris, teeth, inky black skin and horns like the world of chaos from kh1. since having it removed by sora and co and given the boot once and for all hes back to looking human but the marks and scars still remain.

with or without his keyblade he's usually pretty banged up, covered in bruises and cuts and so on from various scrapes he gets into. he cant bring himself to fight back even in self defence because why would he want to cause more pain to the people who's lives hes irreparably damaged? he usually tries to just run but hes not as fast on his feet without his space/gravity magic.

He's trying his best to take a scholarly view towards this frankly horrible ending to his story. he thinks its a just punishment for fucking up. "you made the bed you lie in it" sort of thing.

that doesn't really help when hes spending another night totally alone with nothing but his thoughts for company.

he tried once to apologize but it just ended in him getting dogs abuse screamed at him, particularly by Even of all people. he doesn't try to say sorry anymore, he knows he wont be forgiven for what he did.

he doesn't speak back when the radiant garden gang tell him hes not welcome anymore.

and the worst part is, he totally agrees with them. they SHOULD be angry at him, they SHOULD hate him. Luxu had a plan that, despite doing TERRIBLE things, he was happy to go along with because he thought it would be to the betterment of the universe. it didnt work and now hes left trying to explain why he put people through torture and is coming up empty.

honestly man hes just a little broken. hundreds of years alone, a plan that is hideous even if it succeeds, being the sole survivor of your friends/family AGAIN? to say he needs therapy is an understatement.

i dont even think sora, the walking ray of sunshine, can help him.

that doesn't stop Sora from trying though. Luxu admires that about him and often says he wishes he was a little more like sora when he was his age. Maybe if he was, things wouldn't have turned out this way

Suga found out that the local planetarium had a Saturday evening star show

When he asked if I wanted to go I obviously said yes but I also added “only if Dino can come too”

He’s not going to say no to me- he never does 🥺💕

So we all agreed to meet up Saturday and go early so we could get good seats in the little star dome

Tsukki actually wanted to come, which, he normally wouldn’t because he’s not super into our astrology banter whenever we’re together but also-

I will literally be basing ALL of this on the Griffith Observatory aka my fav planetarium, so feel free to google it for a better mental image

Situated on a hill, the outside of the planetarium has a cute little telescope and overlook area where you can see the sky above, and the city lights below- it’s perfect

Since sunset is approaching, the sky is that really pretty pink/orange/purple summer color- with a hint of faint blue that fades as the minutes pass

But there’s a super long line to get into the planetarium so we can’t look at it or else we might freaking lose out on some good seats!

Everything inside is marble, it’s all intricately carved and beautiful- the ceiling has a huge Dome that’s painted into a cosmos map, laying out various constellations

The coolest part though, is the pendulum in the center that rotates with the earth, knocking over little pegs in a deep pit as the hours pass through the day

We all just stare for what seems like minutes, just watching as there’s a physical representation of earth doing its thing- it’s kinda cool lol

But the intercom voice interrupts us to say that the star show will be starting soon, so WE BOOK IT!

Inside the little star theater, we find pretty good seats near the middle, it’s nice bc it’s set up with open seats so that you can sit on the floor and look up as the screen of the dome surrounds you- giving you a 360 sky view 🌌🌠🪐

Me being me- yes I bought snacks in but don’t tell anyone

So we got comfy with our boyfies and a 2lb bag of Sour Patch Kids. Name a more ideal situation I dare you.

The star show is BEAUTIFUL! It’s a myriad of stars and lights and colors, but also a buttload of info on the cosmos and constellations and why it’s all so important

They go over each constellation in the zodiac and how they were all used to mark harvest cycles and the seasons- as well as a little bit of astro banter

By the time it’s over though, the sun is fully set and the stars are in the sky around the overlook- PERFECT for our own stargazing moment.

So we took turns looking into the telescope and also just hanging out on the hill

We laid out on the lawn to try and point out a few of the constellations we learned about during the show

But the best part? Just chilling out in each other’s company, soft music playing from Tsukki’s phone, just taking in the sight that is mama moon 🌕 nothing was more gorgeous.

In the northern sky in December is a beautiful cluster of stars known as the Pleiades, or the “seven sisters”. Look carefully and you will probably count six stars. So why do we say there are seven of them?

Many cultures around the world refer to the Pleiades as “seven sisters”, and also tell quite similar stories about them. After studying the motion of the stars very closely, we believe these stories may date back 100,000 years to a time when the constellation looked quite different.

The sisters and the hunter

In Greek mythology, the Pleiades were the seven daughters of the Titan Atlas. He was forced to hold up the sky for eternity, and was therefore unable to protect his daughters.

To save the sisters from being raped by the hunter Orion, Zeus transformed them into stars. But the story says one sister fell in love with a mortal and went into hiding, which is why we only see six stars.

A similar story is found among Aboriginal groups across Australia. In many Australian Aboriginal cultures, the Pleiades are a group of young girls, and are often associated with sacred women’s ceremonies and stories.

The Pleiades are also important as an element of Aboriginal calendars and astronomy, and for several groups their first rising at dawn marks the start of winter.

Close to the Seven Sisters in the sky is the constellation of Orion, which is often called “the saucepan” in Australia. In Greek mythology Orion is a hunter. This constellation is also often a hunter in Aboriginal cultures, or a group of lusty young men.

The writer and anthropologist Daisy Bates reported people in central Australia regarded Orion as a “hunter of women”, and specifically of the women in the Pleiades. Many Aboriginal stories say the boys, or man, in Orion are chasing the seven sisters – and one of the sisters has died, or is hiding, or is too young, or has been abducted, so again only six are visible.

The lost sister

Similar “lost Pleiad” stories are found in European, African, Asian, Indonesian, Native American and Aboriginal Australian cultures. Many cultures regard the cluster as having seven stars, but acknowledge only six are normally visible, and then have a story to explain why the seventh is invisible.

How come the Australian Aboriginal stories are so similar to the Greek ones? Anthropologists used to think Europeans might have brought the Greek story to Australia, where it was adapted by Aboriginal people for their own purposes.

But the Aboriginal stories seem to be much, much older than European contact. And there was little contact between most Australian Aboriginal cultures and the rest of the world for at least 50,000 years. So why do they share the same stories?

Barnaby Norris and I suggest an answer in a paper to be published by Springer early next year in a book titled Advancing Cultural Astronomy, a preprint for which is available here.

All modern humans are descended from people who lived in Africa before they began their long migrations to the far corners of the globe about 100,000 years ago. Could these stories of the seven sisters be so old? Did all humans carry these stories with them as they travelled to Australia, Europe, and Asia?

Moving stars

Careful measurements with the Gaia space telescope and others show the stars of the Pleiades are slowly moving in the sky. One star, Pleione, is now so close to the star Atlas they look like a single star to the naked eye.

But if we take what we know about the movement of the stars and rewind 100,000 years, Pleione was further from Atlas and would have been easily visible to the naked eye. So 100,000 years ago, most people really would have seen seven stars in the cluster.

We believe this movement of the stars can help to explain two puzzles: the similarity of Greek and Aboriginal stories about these stars, and the fact so many cultures call the cluster “seven sisters” even though we only see six stars today.

Is it possible the stories of the Seven Sisters and Orion are so old our ancestors were telling these stories to each other around campfires in Africa, 100,000 years ago? Could this be the oldest story in the world?

hello frens! i’m s & this is felix the cat. ha! not really but he’s a fucking kitten so..anyways, this is about to be a total mess ( just like my note taking skills ) so if you don’t get shit, its okay. message me & i’ll explain the science of felix herschel. i love plots, poutine, donuts, angsty plots & making typos! under the readmore you’ll find s’more about baby fel.

o k a y .. i just want start off saying that felix is not a WHOLE. he’s just fragments of people, memories, books & the stars, that’s how i like to describe him anyways!

felix simon herschel is 22 years old, studying poetry in uni. & bisexual af.

felix was born in mountain view, california. he lived in a rather spacious house a little isolated from everything else. they were four, his mother, father & older sister –– which was only a couple years his senior . 

he had a more or less normal childhood. he had the time of his life. he loved discovering the small forest beside his house and play with the little toads swimming in the pond. 

his father was an astrophysicist which meant he was equipped. the little fluorescent stars above his bed made up ACTUAL constellations that his father made him memorize. 

his vacations were spent in a small cottage in the middle of nowhere. although, felix loved it. during the day he’d swim in the lake nearby, learn how to play piano & read a few books. when the night came, the small family would gather around the fire to play guitar ( which his mom taught him how to ) & observe the multiple stars. if they were lucky; rafael herschel would set up his telescope. 

even though he had a peaceful childhood, his teen years were total chaos. 

felix didn’t care for grades as much as his sister nor his father. he preferred to go out on rooftops, take pictures & play lacrosse. 

when he has to spend time home, he’d read endless books. from his school ones to the old papers on his father’s library. 

at 12, it was known that felix had adhd. so it seemed to his parents that things were always twice as hard.

felix liked to go on adventures, discover & find himself. being confined in a classroom wasn’t part of his plans. which resulted in him skipping classes and barely passing.

his parents were FURIOUS! it wasn’t what was expected of the son of an astrophysicist and a university professor. he was officially the family disappointment. 

felix decided to get away and go to uni in chicago. living by himself and making up a new life. he’s still trying to find himself & what he wants to be. 

he doesn’t want to be a poet, but he liked the program so why not?!

he’s obsessed with coffee, so you’ll see him in the coffee shop like 24/7. whether he’s studying, eating or simply wandering.

he’s very laid-back..almost TOO much.

he’s also messy & a professional procrastinator.

although, he’s passionate, helpful, giving & quite smart. 

his sleep is also very important. 

he wears glasses bc he’s FUCKING BLIND.

if i had to chose a season to describe him it would be autumn & his harry potter house is hufflepuff.

will do illegal stuff bc 1. doesn’t care/believe in restriction ( authoritative figures aren’t his ting ) 2. he’s a small bug who wants to DISCOVER THE WHOLE GODDAMN WORLD IN ORDER TO FIND HIMSELF.

when he was younger he attended a preppy ass school, through middle school to high school. 

improvisation is his middle name. 

smooth ass liar but barely uses his skills unless it’s a touchy subject or he’s trying to get himself out of trouble.

the boi can also hold grudges like nobody’s business. 

his older sister has a son! felix loves his nephew so much! you’ll see him hanging with him since his sister also take uni classes and the dad isn’t around. felix is the best babysitter and a cutie with baby theo! the baby boy looks like felix so people can mistake the small boy for his son or brother.

has 10000 tattoos.

if he’s high it’s becuse he ate pot brownies without realizing. always high on fucking edibles bc his frends are junkies and he doesnt mind.

but in all SERIOUSNESS. felix is insecure but won’t show it through words, although you’d be able to notice through his gestures. 

his eyes are so expressive it’s amazing, like he doesn’t need to speak bc his eyes do it for him.

few know about his smol adhd. he doesn’t like to acknowledge it. bc his parents shunned it so much.

he has depth, so many layers. it’s magical.

sometimes he’s a sad boy because he doesn’t know where he’s going, who he is and is scared of feeling like that forever.

is emotionally scarred from the ‘’oppression’’ caused by his parents. them saying poems will lead him nowhere. that he needed to enter into pure & applied sciences program to be someone. for him to stop acting like a child. get his shit together. basically not. be. himself.

so if he distances himself it’s because he feels like he isn’t good enough & doesn’t want to cause trouble.

Opal- Nov 30, 11pmBellamy and Aiden- June 12, 3am 🔠- Who named them? What does their name mean?

Opal- Hades named him after dead mother, her name means “precious stone. Bellamy- named after Belle, name means “fair friend.” Aiden- named after Hades, name means “little fire” or “ardent.”

💤- Was it difficult to get them to fall asleep at night?Opal- She’d fall asleep, but she’d wake up a lot. Bell and Aiden- both were basically nocturnal as children because they couldn’t control ghost stuff and the ghosts would bother them at night. snoozed a lot during the day. 🌀- Were they a social, giggly baby? Or were they a shy baby who did not like forced socialization?Opal- curious child. She didn’t mind getting held by others, but she like kind of looked offended if it happened like “omg mom dad wtf is this?” She also touched things a lot. You couldn’t leave her alone because she’d find her way into something.

Bell/Aiden: They were finicky kids who had bad separation anxiety I feel. Aiden was /louder/ than Bell and more demanding but both had issues with ppl ahah. 🍳- What is their favorite childhood dish?Opal- uh. Fresh. Strawberries.

Aiden- the cake part of the cupcakes. 🐻- Did they have a favorite teddy bear/stuffed animal?

Opal- Opal had a blanket she carried everywhere and she sucked on the tail end of it.

Bell- he carried around his fave PICTURE BOOK started young ppl

Aiden- he was more of a lego and blocks kind of guy. 🏡- What kind of environment did they grow up in? Was it in a rural or farmlike home? Or did they grow up in the cities? Or were they a small town/suburban child?They grew up in Swynlake! In Belle’s house! So small town life, surrounded by magic. Stable household in that their parents loved each other and never like coddled their children. Unstable household in that i’m sure u know disasters erupted all the time.

👦🏻- What was preschool/kindergarten like?

Opal- she found like a few friends and honestly loved going to school. Loved bringing home her assignments to show her parents was a goodie goodie two shoes

Bell- stuck to Aiden’s side like glue. Daydreamed a lot and got into trouble for it.

Aiden- stuck to Bell’s side like glue. If he made other friends-- he probably made one or two-- he told them they had to be Bell’s friend too. Talked during class and got in trouble for it. 👧🏻- What was elementary/middle school like?Sort of in the saaaame vein, Opal still loved school and loved her homework. Aiden was warming up to it more and he was probably separated from Bell at this point so he had to make other friends which u know, he did more or less-- made one or two. He started to like getting #praised for assignments and shit so he took school more seriously.

Bell meanwhile was still a daydreamer though he excelled at literature and probably history. He was def the faves of some teachers . 👱🏻‍♀️- What was high school/college like?

At this point, Aiden became VERY competitive of Opal and hated coming up behind her since she was a fave of her teachers and /everyone/ knew Aiden as “Opal’s Little Sister.” He took school very very seriously and started getting involved. He was pretty popular though he wanted popularity for the status, not because he cared so much about what people thought of him honestly. Opal-- was a goodie two shoes ahah though by this point she probably was getting into magical hijinks that made her late or made her have to ask for an extension on her paper. Still cared about school but cared more about what she was investigating out/side/ of it. Very Hermione Granger esque as you can imagine.

Bell kept to himself, didn’t really havea  lot of friends, but was involved in those pockets of passion-- probably in a book club, probably worked in the school’s library, probably ate lunch with the librarians ahahah. He is the least interested in magical hijinks. Whereas Aiden probably uses his powers to get ahead and is interested in mediumship (it’s something that distinguishes him form Opal), Bell sees them as just another part of his... being like-- he has blue eyes, he can talk 2 ghosts so what.🌋- How often did they get caught doing something bad?

Opal- tbh-- enough. By the time she’s a teen, she’s up to her neck in magic(k) drama. Uses what I honestly think is a -puff secondary to skate by tho bc she’s a genuine hard worker. Also, people don’t expect it from Opal haha

Aiden- he’s a slippery guy so not that much. Can talk his way out of it normally.

Bell- is dragged into drama bc of his siblings ahaha but he’s no snitch. /has/ taken the fall once or twice but makes sure Aiden and Opal pay him back for it haha. 🌡- Did they get sick a lot as a child? Did they ever have to go to the hospital for any reason?

Opal- i gave her a heart tumor

Aiden- his sensitivity to ghosts means that he is cold and when he was younger, he would get headaches and got sleep deprived a lot. He feels the pain of ghosts more potently than his brother because he has worked harder to be in touch with his powers (this can mean that he can spontaneously develop an allergy if he’s channeling a ghost ahha)

Bell- same vein as Aiden but not as sensitive. deprived HIMSELF of sleep bc he reads too much. 🎀- What kinds of games/activities did they like to play?

Likely, if Star had stayed in the wand for a similar amount of time that Toffee had, the same would happen to her, although she'd probably purify the magic - at least, somewhat - in the process. As Toffee wades around the magic, it muddies like a flooded river and clings to him. The reason why it turns green when he touches it isn't because he's evil, it's because he harbors intense negative emotions that not only are the source of his plans, but probably fester the longer he's trapped alone in the wand. When Star casts a spell, she's "touching" the magic so to speak, because the wand only acts as a telescope, honing it. Toffee takes it to a new level; he's constantly in direct contact with the magic, flooding his negative emotions into it like the ocean in an oil spill. Tl;dr: Toffee corrupted the magic because he harbors intense negative emotions that infect the magic around him. This is no different than Star casting a spell using Green Magic; they both contact the magic and flood it with their negative feelings.
