my personal favorite is 1986 by @captainkippen and he’s got a ton of great tyrus fics, another great one being Best Laid Plans which i adore

another big one was TJ’s Playlist by staristired on ao3 (i can’t think of their tumblr user) which is also so so good

Lost Boy by CaithyCat on ao3 (also don’t know their tumblr user either) is such a crazy read it consumed my whole being when i first read it

there also used to be a really popular blog on here who’s user was dumb-binch-juice who wrote a ton of canon complaint fics that filled in space from s2 ish all the way past s3 which a lot of people, myself included, saw as the s4 we never got. unfortunately their account got deactivated and their fics are no longer available and i haven’t been able to find any :( however madame juice, as she was called, was a big part of the fandom so i wanted to tell u ab it

marty, tj, and jonah have been deemed the name Dumbass Trio as they are all chaotic and silly in their own ways and feed off each other’s idiocy

sexuality hcs were really important so these were the most popular but there was always a little room for personal interpretation:

andi: pan, buffy: bi, jonah: aroace/bi, bex: bi, bowie: bi, amber: lesbian, iris: lesbian, libby: pan, walker: pan, marty: bi/trans or sometimes people kept him as the token straight, obvi tj and cyrus were canonically gay

the kippen siblings! a lot of people suddenly realized ambers lack of a last name left the potential for her and tj to be siblings. not really sure why, they’re both blonde and used to be mean and like, vaguely could look similar lol. so a lot of people went ahead and took this and ran and thus the kippen siblings became very popular that even the cast was in on it, i think luke mullen has a post of him and emily skinner on instagram where he made a joke ab it.

those who weren’t on board with the kippen sibs theory tho usually say her last name is brown bc it’s in a version of a script that was never aired in the episodes and was released sometime after

popular ships were tj/cyrus, amber/andi, buffy/marty, if jonah wasn’t aroace it was usually jonah/walker, if not ambi usually amber/iris and andi/buffy

not a headcanon but you should also check out @andis-texts-archive has all the text messages between the good hair crew + friends that came with each episode of andi mack, i don’t remember exactly where they were shown but there’s some good stuff in there

in jonah's band - when you see jonah beck drawing band logo ideas during study hall, you feel like it's fate: you've always wanted to be friends with jonah, and you've also always wanted to be a part of a band! so you introduce yourself to him at your shared lunch block, and soon, you're the bassist in Otter Galaxy, a five-person band consisting of you, jonah (guitarist), buffy (singer), walker (drummer), and kira (trumpter). you all collaborate to write songs from all sorts of genres, and you develop close friendships with all of your bandmates. fourteen great songs later, jonah introduces you to a man named bowie, and he helps Otter Galaxy record their first whole album. buffy's girlfriend andi designs the album cover art, and kira's girlfriend libby runs the band's social media and marketing. Otter Galaxy reaches its career peak--so far, at least--when they perform a setlist of originals and covers at shadyside high school's homecoming dance. you're glowing the whole night, so happy to have made these connections and produced such amazing art with all these humans you love so deeply.

attending an olivia rodrigo concert with amber - you've always made fun of your friend amber for calling into every single radio station ticket giveaway, but when she manages to win ten tickets to olivia rodrigo's sour tour, you immediately rescind all teasing comments. you can't begin to thank amber enough when she announces that she's taking you, andi, buffy, cyrus, iris, kira, maria from the basketball team, and (reluctantly) her brother tj to the concert. the afternoon of the concert, everyone heads over to the kippen household to dress up and prepare for the concert. ms. kippen drives everyone, herself taking the tenth ticket, and everyone manages to fit into her minivan in a mostly legal seating arrangement (andi may be on buffy's lap, and iris may be crouching in the center section of the car, but hey, at least no one's in the trunk!). the concert itself is electric. despite never having endured heartbreak, cyrus sobs at every single song (but, not to worry, tj's there to supportively hold his hand the whole time). andi and iris sing along so passionately that it's a miracle they haven't lost their voices; you and kira share a pink cotton candy that's bigger than your face! by the end of the concert, everyone's exhausted from the rush of adrenaline and joy, and the car ride home is pretty quiet as everyone basks in the sated feeling. you all sleepover at the kippen house, constructing an elaborate maze of pillow forts in the living room before dozing off. you and your friends end up sleeping in 'til noon, when ms. kippen finally wakes everyone up with the smell of homemade pancakes.

gardening with cece - when andi invites you over to help with the gardening, she fails to mention what a serious matter you've just agreed to undertake. with a cold pitcher of lemonade as your sustenance, you and andi join cece in her meticulous plant upkeep duties. cece is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge about the various flowers spread about the garden, and she offers you her gardening cap when she notices how you're squinting under the hot sun. but don't let her kindness fool you: when cece somehow ends up in a passive-aggressive conversation with the neighbor about the location of some plumerias, cece swiftly dons her weapon of choice--the garden hose--and mercilessly discharges its cold water. the hose fight quickly turns into a fun opportunity to cool off, and soon, you and andi are collapsed in a muddy heap of laughter as cece chastises you for wasting water.

andi's lab partner in chemistry class - despite being an art-focused school, saava also has incredibly strong academic programs. alas, this is very unfortunate for you, as you aren't the best at science classes--so you're relieved when you're paired with a really kind and bright girl, andi, for this semester's chemistry labs. andi always manages to bring a certain magic to the routine and rule-based chemistry class, turning graphs of hydrogen levels into colorful maps that remind you of the astrology posters your friend libby likes to paint. and it's like andi's creativity unlocks your own imagination--with andi's help, you turn your simple coffee-decaffeination lab into a rube goldberg machine that creates splatter art! soon, your formerly most dreaded block becomes an exciting opportunity to collaborate with your new friend to make increasingly complex machines, sculptures, paintings, and other forms of art. your final chemistry lab of the year--an exercise in pH measurement that you and andi turn into a mixed-media installation that comments on the shift of identity many students experience when coming to a new school like saava--even gets featured in the "best of saava" monthly magazine! chemistry still may not be your best subject grade-wise, but thanks to andi's friendship and support, you find that you've learned a lot this year, and you really value the time you spent in this class.

psycholanalyzing beloved fictional characters with cyrus - on the first day of highschool, your first block class is the one you're looking forward to most--psychology. there's only one other freshman in the class, so you make sure to sit next to him. his name is cyrus, and soon, you and cyrus are bonding over your shared interest in the "childish" tv shows that your older brother teases you for liking. "if your brother teases you for watching them, why don't you come over to my place, and we can watch them together?" cyrus offers one day, so that afternoon, you head over to his dad's house. he introduces you to his dad and his step-mom sharon, both of whom are therapists (no wonder he knows so many answers in psychology class!), and you're super excited when they let you and cyrus flip through their paper copy of the dsm. sharon makes a bowl of popcorn for you and cyrus to share, and then you start watching pbs kids shows together, consulting cyrus's online copy of the dsm to jokingly psychoanalyze some of the characters from "arthur." ("technically it's a pirated copy of the dsm," cyrus explains bashfully, "but i was too scared to click on the illegal pdf, so i had my friend buffy save it for me.") after a few episodes of gleefully pathologizing fictional characters together, you hear cyrus's boyfriend tj knock on the front door. tj joins you for two more episodes of "wordgirl" (you find out that his favorite character is chuck the sandwich-making guy), and then the three of you eat dinner with cyrus's dad and step-mom before both you and tj have to head home. cyrus hugs you both, thanking you for coming over, and as you wave "bye," you feel so grateful for your two new friends.

It is crazy to me how different this fandom treated Jyrus compared to like any other ship

(After Cyrus said his crush on Jonah was over)

1. Like before and after the show ended myself and other jyrus shippers would get anon asks like "Jyrus isnt going to be canon stop shipping it" or "Jyrus was never canon stop shipping it" but do you wanna know how many times I have heard someone say "this ship isnt going to be canon stop shipping it" or "this ship was never canon stop shipping it" to someone that ships ambi? 0 bandi? 0 Juffy? 0 Wonah? 0 Tonah? Jarty? 0 any other non canon ship you can possibly think of? 0 but jyrus had like at least 6

2. I could say "I ship Tj and Marty" or any other ship and I would get people going like "oh okay" but I say i ship Jyrus and people are all like "oh but you do know that jyrus wont be canon? Like it wont ever be canon you should know it wont be canon ever it's just platonic"

3. Cyrus said his crush on Jonah is over and immediately this fandom was like "even If the show goes on for 40 seasons jonah and cyrus can never be canon ever" yet I guarantee that if tyrus didn't get together in the s3 finale, and we got a s4 if on the second episode of season 4 TJ could say "I used to have a crush on Cyrus but not anymore" I would of see 300 different here is 20 different ways that TJ and Cyrus could be canon next episode"

5. Someone could say "I ship Ambi" is it romantic? Is it platonic? They don't feel the need to say, same person could say "I ship Juffy" is it romantic? Is it platonic? No need to say, but the same person says "I ship Jyrus" and it's all "platonically of course oh so very platonic, did I mention how platonic it is, cause I see it as super platonic, just platonic"

6.i have seen multiple posts where it's like "imagine shipping Jyrus, Ew" or "ew people still like Jyrus?" Never saw anyone say that about any other ship

7. Someone made a "I ship Jyrus now" post as a April fool's prank no one ever did it to any other ship and the reactions are as if he admitted to some horrible crime like "OMG NO WAY, PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS A JOKE, PLEASE!"

8. Some people in the fandom go out of their act like Jonah is some toxic person who like hates Cyrus, when he didn't do anything bad towards Cyrus

9. If let's say for example Libby and Andi went to the watch a movie at the movie theater together I would of seen "Aww how sweet and romantic I kinda ship them" posts but when Jyrus went to the movies alone its "oh what nice friends, absolutely nothing romantic here"

If buffy and Amber went to a restaurant alone and had a meal, the whole fandom would be all "I kinda ship them, that scene was super romantic and sweet" but if Jonah and Cyrus instead went to the same restaurant and did 100% the EXACT same things like no difference at all, this fandom would be all "oh what nice friends, nothing more, just friends"

10. People say "Jonah and Cyrus being canon is unrealistic as Jonah was Cyrus' first crush but as far as we know Jonah was Andi's first crush and was Amber's first crush and libby's first crush, and they got together, Buffy was Walker and Marty's first crush and Walker or Marty was Buffy's first crush Cyrus was iris' first crush, Marty was Rachel's first crush Bex and Bowie were each others first crush and they all got together and no one ever said it would be unrealistic for any of those couples to get together

"it's about to get really cold in here and no cell service either it's like everything's cut off"

"I...I think the doors locked"

Andi's POV

"Locked we can't be" Buffy shoved past pulling on the handel it was no use.

"How is this happening?" Cyrus stressed

"Bowie's new security system is broken it must of locked us in" I said realising

"Well where's the control panel we can unlock it" Buffy said

"Its broken Bowie has the instruction manule at home we don't know how" I protested

"So where stuck in here on Christmas eve with no electricity" Jonah's breathing became erratic

"Jonah there no need to panic" Cyrus reassured

"There's every need to panic who knows how long we'll be here for before anyone comes to find us" Jonah panicked

"Relax I'll call my parents" I said whipping out my phone only for my face to drop

"Its on 2%" I confessed

"My phone broke last week" Jonah said

"Luckily my phone is working" Buffy said happily but she then looked confused

"No bars" she informed

"Let me try" Cyrus tapped his phone "I don't have bars either"

"Cell service is cut off as well" Jonah said

"We're gonna die in here" Cyrus said dramatically flopping on the couch

"No we're not our parents will realise were missing and come looking for us" I said

"But we never told them where were going just that we'd be back before 6 so they wouldn't disturb us" Buffy said

"Okay Jonah now you can panic" I huffed. I checked my watch

Time: 6:00pm

Looks like we'll be here for a while.

T.J's POV

"Have you seen Buffy?" Marty said.

I was walking home from work when Marty quickly ran up next to me.

"No not today" I responded

"Oh she's not answering my calls but it's probably a good thing" he said

"Why you avoiding her?"

"No but I haven't got her a good Christmas gift" he complained

"Dude come on its Christmas eve I know you leave things to the last minute but this is a new low" I scoffed

"No I wanted to go online and book something for us to do together but nothing good or affordable" he said

"Dude it's Buffy take her go-karting or something"

"I want it to be romantic or festive I can take her go-karting anytime" he was right to be fair

"What are you doing for Cyrus?"

"Nothing I got him a gift for Hanukkah he said not to worry about anything else"

"Seriously I would've at least got him like a card" that grabbed my attention

"You think I should've?"

"Its up to you man but maybe Cyrus feels left out that he doesn't get to celebrate like everyone else" he said raising his eyebrows

"Shit I didn't think about that your on we can help eachother" I patted his back

Meanwhile...

Andi's POV

Time: 7:00pm

"I'm hungry" Cyrus whined

"Cy-guy I love you and all but you have the stomach of a baby deer" Jonah said

"I have dinner around this time I can't help it" he said crossing his arms

"Well there's no food plus we didn't eat that long ago are you seriously that hungry? Maybe it's just boredom" Buffy said

"Yes I'm that hungry" Cyrus simply said crossing his arms

"It doesn't matter sooner or later we're gonna need food Jonah your in here half the time is there anything we can eat?" I asked hopefully

"Bowie put in a vending machine" he pointed to the back of the room.

We all piled in front of it eyeing the bottles of water the bags of chips and chocolates and sweets but I groaned we needed coins we only had dollars

"We can't put dollars in" I frowned

"Bowie keeps a key to get into the machine somewhere under the till" Jonah said he went behind the counter and started looking I gasped in disbelief

"Jonah the till" I pointed out

"What about it?" He said not looking up

"The till has coins inside of it" Buffy said

"That's stealing" Cyrus interjected

"I thought you were hungry" I stated 

"Guys now's not the time to be at each others throats" Buffy said standing between us

"Buffys right" Jonah said opening up a bag of chips.

we all looked at him in disbelief again we saw the open vending machine door and charged at it nabbing all the contents.

"Oh yeah I got it open." Jonah smiled

Marty's POV

"How about you take her... surfing"

"T.J it's winter and the beach isn't for miles... Maybe you could take Cyrus to a petting zoo" I suggested

"He has a fear of flamingos I don't think it would sit to well with him" he protested

"Dang this harder without Jonahs third braincell" I admitted

"Times getting on anyways I think I better get home before Amber sneaks into my room looking for her present" Tj said checking his phone.

"Alright... still no word from the others" I said also looking at my phone

Andi's POV

Time: 9:45pm

Buffy was looking over at some guitars me and Cyrus were laying on the sofa at opposite ends Jonah was excessively cleaning the floor with a rag and lemon scented floor cleaner he had found we were all in silence accept for the sound of Jonah drilling a hole in the floor.

"Jonah why just why?" I said frustrated

"I clean when I'm stressed this is calming for me" he went back to scrubbing.

"Please don't argue" Cyrus said

"It's freezing in here now" Buffy said rubbing her arms up and down.

"Look guys we need to stop complaining it's Christmas eve" Cyrus dug into a box pulling out several candles and some matches "Andi help me light these"

He placed the candles around the room close to us Jonah and Buffy came over to huddle close with us Cyrus took a guitar from the wall handing it to Jonah

"Come on its Christmas we barley get to be together like this no drama no technology let's enjoy it and try to make it festive play us something Jonah" Cyrus encouraged

"Well okay then" he shrugged picking up the guitar.

He started to strum the cords I instantly recognised them closing my eyes and humming along

Jonah's voice and the candles made a really warm calming atmosphere so much so I let my eyes stay closed for a little longer as I drifted off

Time: 11:46pm

I was jolted awake by the sound of rattling at the door. My face lit up thinking someone had arrived finally I saw Buffy, Cyrus and Jonah fast  asleep I got closer to the door seeing a hooded figure grunting trying to pull the door I realised it wasn't someone rescuing us it was someone breaking in. I shook my friends awake quickly

"What now Andi" Buffy groaned

"S-someone's breaking in" I said panicked

"Are you sure?" Cyrus said slowly coming too.

"Yes"

"Oh my god u-um behind the counter" Jonah ordered we all hid

"What do we do?" Buffy quivered in fear

"We um we-" I started

"Set up and elaborate number of traps that will hurt them and one of us can run and get the cops and we need to trick them with a recording of an old movie" we all slowly looked to Jonah

"Are you serious" Cyrus whispered shouted

"Worked in home alone" Jonah shrugged we all shook our heads

"Okay we distract them by yelling and make a break for it" I said

"Okay are we ready?" Cyrus said shakily.

We didn't have time to answer the door opened and we all jumped up screaming and shouting the figure took his hood down to reveal Bowie and Bex trailing behind him we all stopped seeing who it is

"Mom...dad?"

"Yeah why are you shouting?" Bowie said a little intimidated

"We thought you were breaking in" Cyrus said ashamed

"Well these two came and told us you were all in here" Marty and Tj appeared from behind Bex Buffy and Cyrus rushed forward to be engulfed in hugs

"We were walking home and saw the four of you laying asleep we went to Andi's apartment" Marty muffled from Buffy's embrace

"We owe you guys one" Jonah said suddenly Marty and Tj rushed to hug Jonah as they held him in a three person spoon

"Thank god we missed our third brain cell" Marty laughed I turned to my parents

"Did you two make up?" I asked hopeful

"Yes we did sorry for worrying you" Bex apologised

"Its okay I'm glad your happy" I said relieved

"Actually your mom and I have some news" Bowie said putting an arm around Bex

"We're having a baby" she smiled

A-a b-baby? I'm getting a sibling?!" I said joyfully

"Yep I found out a few days ago" Bex beamed with happiness

"Congratulations" Cyrus declared happily

"I'm here to give you pointers on being a sibling if you need it" Tj said pointing finger guns

I took a glance at my watch

Time: 00:01pm

"Guys it's passed midnight" I announced

"Merry Christmas Andiman" Jonah said giving me a side hug.

4x01 | Starting SAVA

Description: Andi tries to find her place at SAVA. Meanwhile, Buffy and Cyrus adjust to not having Andi around during school. Bex and Bowie contemplate their future.

The episode starts with Andi standing nervously outside of SAVA by herself. She looks to her side for reassurance from her best friends, forgetting for a second that they aren’t there. Across town at Grant High School, Buffy and Cyrus look toward the space between them the same way. 

Andi is determined to make a good impression and have a perfect first day of high school. Unfortunately, this plan goes off the rails when she knocks into someone in the hallway, causing their art project to crash to the floor into pieces. She tries to help the other girl pick up her project and put it back together, but she just ends up making it worse. The bell rings, and the girl glares at her and says, “Thanks a lot,” as she finishes gathering the broken pieces of her art, not listening as Andi attempts to apologize. Now, Andi has a feeling she just made her first enemy. 

Meanwhile, at Grant High School, Buffy, Cyrus, and Jonah are overwhelmed by the crowded, massive school, getting lost on the way to their lockers. Luckily, Amber is there to rescue them and show them all the ins and outs of Grant High School. Jonah and Buffy are skeptical for help from Amber at first, but Cyrus is thankful and eager for her guidance. // (”You all have a lot to learn. First, always avoid the main hall if possible. The best vending machine is the one upstairs at the end of C-Hall because it always gives out freebies. And finally, beware of the cafeteria, especially on Wednesdays. // “What happens on Wednesdays?” Buffy asks skeptically. // Amber shakes her head. “Just don’t eat the specialty meat under any circumstances, and make sure you’re always in the left-hand line.”) // Nobody really has any clue what she’s talking about for the most part. 

Andi is late to her first class at SAVA, leading to everyone starting at her as she runs in a few minutes late. Thankfully, the teacher doesn’t seem to mind. Andi goes to take the only spot left in the classroom, double taking when she realizes that the person sitting next to her is a very familiar face: Walker. Despite their history, she’s glad that she knows at least one person in the whole school. After class, Walker promises to show her around a bit more because he’s familiar with the school since his siblings went there before him. 

Back at the Mack household, Bex worries about Andi’s first day of school. She waits by the front door right before Andi is ready to return. She’s worried because she doesn’t want to lose her connection with Andi like what happened with her and Cece. Bowie attempts to reassure her, reminding her how amazing Andi is and how well she’ll do.

Cyrus, Buffy, Jonah, and TJ face the wrath of the cafeteria. Although Cyrus is disappointed at the lack of chocolate-chocolate chip muffins, his boyfriend TJ (technically his boyfriend, although they aren’t out to anyone except their friends) made one special for him for the first day of school as a surprise. 

Besides for Walker, Andi meets a really nice girl named Makenna in the library as well as another girl in her class who is just as passionate as she about crafts named Elsie. Although the day started out not so great, by the end of her first day at SAVA, things are looking up for Andi.

At the end of the school day at Grant High School they have an involvement fair for the freshmen to get a sense of what they may want to do. Buffy and Marty find each other in the crowd and hold hands as they go check out all the sports booths. Jonah looks interested in baseball, which TJ urges him to at least take a pamphlet. No one can keep up with Cyrus, who is grabbing free pamphlets and pens from nearly every table (except for any that have to do with athleticism, of course). // “Are you really thinking of joining some of these clubs? I mean, Gamer’s Club? You hate video games!” TJ comments, looking through Cyrus’s array of pamphlets. // “Hey, you never know! Maybe I’d end up being the best Gamer of them all!” // They also learn that Amber is the president of the school’s chess club.

Finally, Andi returns after her first day only to get bombarded by Bex asking questions about her first day. // (”How was it? Did you make any friends? How were your classes? Was it everything you hoped and dreamed of?! I can’t believe my daughter is a highschooler!” // “Mom, it was only the first day!” ) // She promises that it was good, making them feel relieved. They all sit down together to have dinner as a family. Bex looks around and realizes how much she loves their family. She meets eyes with Bowie across the table as they listen to Andi ramble about her classes. 

The episode ends with Andi putting up a free little banner she got at school that says SAVA in Andi Studio. She smiles as she looks around the nearly empty space, wondering how it will change in the coming years. Finally, she looks at the pictures of her, Buffy, and Cyrus hung up. She traces her hands over them. Some things will never change.

Episode Recap: 3.20, “We Were Here”

Guys, I’m sorry. I know the whole idea is, oh, tjkiahgb does his funny little recap and makes his jokes and all that.

I don’t know what to do about this episode.

I feel like this recap is just going to be a bunch of screencaps and me writing “I’m emotional!” underneath each of them. I’m going to have to do 15 paragraphs on Celia in a dinosaur costume just to have anything to say.

Alright, well, let’s see if I can pull myself together long enough to do this.

OH MY GOD, IT’S THE LAST “PREVIOUSLY ON ANDI MACK” WE’RE EVER GOING TO SEE. I NEED TO LIE DOWN!

Okay. I’m back. Let’s try this again.

For the last time, our episode begins at Celia’s house.

Celia’s all packed and ready for a trip. She gives Bex her orders and lays down the law.

Bex is like, come on, mom, you know we’re going to have a party.

And Celia’s like, yeah.

Consider this my wedding gift.

Celia departs for places unknown and...

OH NO IT’S THE LAST TIME WE’LL EVER SEE THE INTRO! HELP MEEEEE!

At Bex’s, Andi and Bex gather supplies for the party.

Bex is like, oh thank God we still have those. It’s not a party until the cheaply made SWAG sunglasses make an appearance.

They start making a list of the essentials for a party: food, balloons, glow-sticks.

Bex says she’s been meaning to get one of those. So, wait, she doesn’t already have one in the apartment’s emergency preparedness kit? What happens if there’s a natural disaster?

Bowie wanders in and they let him know there’s going to be a party. Bex and Andi start wondering what they’re going to wear to the party. Andi runs off to decide, but Bowie holds Bex back for a second to talk to her.

Bowie goes to retrieve a letter he brought in from the mailbox.

But, more importantly:

THE CAT! An appearance in the finale for The Cat! He’s been here since season one, he deserves it!

Bowie tells Bex there’s a situation. Andi has received a letter from SAVA.

The two wonder about the letter. Acceptance letters usually have a lot of paperwork and such in them and arrive in bigger envelopes. Rejection letters, on the other hand, are usually just a piece of paper that says “Thanks but no thanks.” on it.

They worry about how sad it’ll make Andi if it’s a rejection letter, and don’t want to ruin her night with that possibility, so they decide to keep it quiet for now.

Then Andi appears and Bex sits on the letter. Andi tells her she found something for her to wear, so Bex gets up and Bowie jumps on the letter like it’s a grenade.

Once he thinks the coast is clear, he gets off of it, but then Andi appears again and Bowie crumples up the letter in his hands to hide it and does this completely natural thing...

Oh, don’t mind me, just listening to my hands.

Andi tells him she picked out something for him to wear, too, and runs off.

Bowie examines the state of the letter.

On the bright side, if it is a rejection letter, you can always say this is how it showed up and trash SAVA for lacking the decency to take any care in mailing their letters. I mean, if this is how they mail stuff, imagine how little care they show in other places! Who would want to go to such a school anyway, right?

That night, everything is in place for the party.

Bex comes walking down the stairs in her wedding dress, which looks nice but feels impractical for a night of partying.

Andi tells her how beautiful she looks.

There’s a knock at the door. Andi lets Bowie in. He’s wearing his father’s tux.

Andi starts up some music and invites the bride and groom to the floor for their first dance.

And-- oh GOD it’s the song from the first season.

Well, we’re six minutes in and I guess this is going to mark the point of the episode where I start going under and just never recover.

The party is in full swing now. Cyrus finds Buffy watching Marty from across the room as he chats up another girl. Cyrus asks her if things are still weird between the two of them but she doesn’t know. He asks her what she would like things to be like between them.

Buffy feels that Marty doesn’t like her anymore. Like like. Cyrus doesn’t believe that’s true, but Buffy says Marty said it himself.

He’s like, you’re really going to believe the word of a known liar like Marty? If he’s so honest, what’s his last name? And don’t you dare say Fromdaparty.

Then TJ walks in and Buffy’s like, perfect timing, let’s get off my thing and onto yours, Cyrus.

And TJ’s like...

*waves in goofy*

And Cyrus is like...

*waves in goofy back*

Look, in fairness, there’s no way to wave enthusiastically without looking goofy. That’s why we invented that like, hand up thing, where you just put your palm out and hold it there for a second. But that’s for business scenarios and not parties. You’re at a party and see the boy you’re crushing on, you do a goofy, enthusiastic wave. It’s how it goes.

Then Kira walks in and the atmosphere instantly drops.

If some random kid came running in and shouted that they found a dead opossum on the floor of the bathroom, it could not have made the mood in the room worse. There’s a non-zero chance it could’ve made things better because at least we’re wondering where the opossum came from now.

Buffy assures Cyrus that the reason TJ is hanging out with Kira is not because he likes her, but he doesn’t agree. He thinks that ship has sailed.

So Buffy and Cyrus commiserate, both thinking they’ve lost their opportunity to get their man.

Later, Kira and TJ watch from the sidelines as the others dance.

How did Cyrus take and pass a dance class and get worse at dancing?

Kira asks TJ why he doesn’t want to dance. He says he just doesn’t want to.

Kira notes Cyrus dancing and starts to laugh.

TJ’s like, what’s so funny? Kira says look at Cyrus.

TJ’s like, yeah, he’s great, but Kira’s still laughing at him. TJ tells her she can’t do that -- laugh at someone for their dancing. Kira’s like, you thought it was funny. TJ’s like, no, I thought it was fun. There’s a big difference.

So, Kira’s like, okay, here we go again.

She says that if she made him pick between her and Cyrus, he’d pick Cyrus. TJ’s like, the fact that you’re even going to the place where you’d think of making me pick proves how wrong this all is.

Kira says that answers her question and exits the party.

The party continues on.

Electronic music starts, the lights go down, and the dinosaur descends the staircase.

Nice to get one last sentence in before the end where I can write what’s literally happening on the screen, take a step back and go, what the hell did I just write?

Everyone gathers round to watch the neon dinosaur dance. They chant “Go Andi! Go Andi!”

Then Andi shows up.

Their next guess is Jonah, but then he shows up, too. He couldn’t find the dinosaur costume because it had been stolen by the mystery dancer.

The music ends and the audience cheers for the dancing dinosaur, who finally reveals herself, ripping off her face mask like a Scooby Doo villain.

Everyone gasps. They’re like, uh oh, the party police are here and they showed up in a T-Rex costume for some reason.

But then Celia’s like...

Everyone wants to know what Celia’s doing back. She’s like, well, I got four hours out and realized I’d rather be attending one of these parties than on a vacation somewhere so I turned around and came back and snuck into the house through a second story window so no one would see me and inflated this dinosaur suit and put it on and waited for the right music to start and shut off the lights and came downstairs and performed this dance routine. Was it worth it? I spent the whole four hours on the way back practicing that “No parties, just kidding” thing.

And everyone’s like, yeah, it was alright.

And Celia’s like, okay, cool.

She’s like, I’m glad I tried fun. And then she walks off and that’s the last we ever see of her. From strict mom to dancing grandma in a dinosaur suit. What a ride. I hope she enjoys her vacation.

Later on, TJ has gotten on stage with a piano. He starts playing the intro to “Born This Way”.

TJ, NO! We don’t have the money for the rights to that song! Are you crazy? Can I interest you in some generic production music that can be purchased for a tenth the cost? Maybe something in the public domain? How about we all sing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”?

But it’s too late. TJ, to celebrate his liberation from Kira, elects to come out to the entire party by showing he knows how to play the gayest song of all time on the piano by heart.

The whole party is like, oh, this is nice. He’s playing some music. And then Cyrus is like...

SURPRISE! I have a microphone and this is a performance now!

Amber starts singing, too. TJ calls up Jonah and/or Bowie to get on stage and provide some guitar, but then Bex is like...

SURPRISE! I have a guitar and I know how to play it!

Jonah and Andi get on stage and get thrown mics.

Buffy grabs a mic and joins in. The entire cast can sing! It’s a musical miracle.

Cyrus joins TJ on the stage and they sing together.

Bowie at some point also wandered up with his own guitar and joined Bex.

Everyone performs in the song, except for Marty, who just kinda sings from the sidelines like, “Eh, this is nice but pop’s not my genre.”

The song comes to a finish.

Everyone celebrates how good that was despite it never having been rehearsed.

A gosh-dang musical miracle, I tell ya.

Later on outside, Jonah finds Andi and tells her he has something for her. Andi immediately panics. Jonah reassures her it is not one of his famous terrible gifts, like the piece of rice with Andi’s misspelled name on it. He asks if that was the worst present ever.

Jonah says this isn’t a present anyway.

He found their bracelet. The one thought lost for so long. Well, he didn’t find it.

Oh, Judy Bartholomew, you never cease to impress!

Jonah offers it back to Andi, who promises to make it disappear forever. But Jonah says, he actually wanted to know if he could keep it. It’s a great bracelet and he’s always liked it.

Andi puts the bracelet on him. She wonders what things would’ve been like if they’d met when they were older and more mature.

Well, older, at least.

Back inside the party, Buffy finds Marty at his usual party position, hanging around the food table. She starts reenacting the conversation from their first meeting. They get to the “eat a live frog” bit and Marty can’t continue.

Buffy tells him that she didn’t think that. She found him funny. Marty warns her that she is dangerously close to complimenting him. She tells him it was a compliment.

Buffy wants to try having a conversation to see if they can. So they ask each other how their day was and both agree they had fine days. Marty asks her what the next step is and Buffy decides the next step is to leave.

Buffy heads outside, but Marty chases after her. He says he thinks he messed it up and wants to try the straightforward thing again. He tells her to go first.

Yep, that’s straightforward. Marty compliments her on how straightforward it was. Buffy tells him that’s all she wanted him to know, in case he ever changes his mind about liking her, but Marty’s like...

He goes in for a kiss.

They smile at each other and head back into the party.

Cyrus, meanwhile, heads to the backyard where he finds TJ sitting on...

T H E   B E N C H.

Cyrus asks what happened to Kira. TJ says he poured water on her and she melted. Boy’s dropping Judy Garland movie references now. Really laying it on thick.

TJ says Kira’s not a nice person, but Cyrus reminds him people used to say that about him, almost verbatim.

Cyrus says he knows that, but there are things he didn’t know, like that TJ played piano. TJ tells him his mom is a piano teacher. Cyrus didn’t know that either. TJ promises he’s not that mysterious, just ask him anything.

TJ panics. He’s like, oh, you went right for the kill shot. He doesn’t want to say what his name is. He says there are only like five living souls on this planet who know what TJ stands for, and they are all of Kippen blood.

TJ’s really digging himself a hole here with Cyrus. The more you sell the mystery of this, the more a kid like Cyrus will want to know.

“My name’s only ever been said out loud once before, by the doctor who filled out the birth certificate, and then he disappeared, never to be seen again! Mythology says that my name used to be sung by the Sirens, who’d use it to lure unsuspecting sailors to their dooms! Legend says there’s a secret cave in the Gobi Desert, and that if you shout my name into it, a trap door will open revealing billions of dollars in hidden treasure! So surely you must understand, I can’t possibly tell you what it is.”

Cyrus says if he doesn’t learn what TJ’s full name is, he will literally die of curiosity. Now faced with the impending death of his crush, TJ realizes he must make the ultimate sacrifice to save his life and tell him what his name is. First, he swears him to secrecy. Cyrus swears.

TJ tells him his parents were way into music, so they named him after their favorite artists:

This is where I’d make a joke like, “It could’ve been worse, they could’ve named him...” but I don’t have a way to finish that sentence. I guess like, Beethoven Mozart, so then he couldn’t even use his initials or they’d be B.M.?

You know, though, it’s such an odd name, it becomes immediately endearing.

To Cyrus as well. They didn’t come all this way, accepting each other through everything, to be stopped in the finale by bad dancing or weird names.

TJ says his grandparents stepped in to intervene. They were like, this is preposterous and we’re not going to spend what short time remains of our lives on so many syllables! He’s TJ!

TJ asks if there’s anything else Cyrus wants to know and then he makes just the ever-so-slightest of hand movements toward him and I’m telling you right now, I don’t know if I will ever be okay watching this.

I’m serious. I don’t know when I’ll be able to watch this scene and see that hand movement and not get emotional. Definitely not now, and I can’t imagine anytime soon.

Cyrus sees his hand. He asks TJ is there’s anything else he wants to tell him.

TJ asks Cyrus if there’s anything he wants to tell him.

They grab each other’s hand.

And both let out this nervous exhale.

And they hold each other’s hand and smile at each other as the screen fades to black.

Just the two of them, together, in their own little world.

I get that people might have wanted more, more words, more actions, and I don’t necessarily disagree. I don’t think there’s a hypothetical version of this scene that has more and is bad or anything.

But, in my opinion, I think this is brilliant. In its subtlety and in its simplicity, this is one of the sweetest, most graceful, most touching ways I’ve ever seen two people express their affection for one another. That they’ve been through so much, and that they know each other so well that they can just look at each other and only need to say yes to tell the other one all they need to know, to tell each other everything? I’m not going to label two middle schoolers as “in love” because, look, they’re kids and it’s middle school. But what I will say is this: that’s what love is. When someone knows you so intensely and so intimately that you don’t have to say it. When all you have to do is look at someone to know. It’s a connection that goes beyond words. It’s beautiful.

Or, in other words, I’m emotional!

Later, after the party has ended, the GHC, Jonah, and Bex and Bowie hang out in the backyard, reminiscing.

Andi shares a picture of the GHC starting second grade.

From the day they met.

Buffy remarks how they’re still together after all these years. And Cyrus says they always will be. And Andi says...

They’re like, uh oh. Andi says she wants to show them something and leads them to Andi Shack, which has been stripped clean.

They ask why, and Andi tells them she doesn’t need the Shack anymore. She needs a studio because she got into SAVA, which makes her parents very happy, but bums out Cyrus and Buffy. They’re happy for her, but...

This is going to change things.

Bex remarks how a lot of life has happened in Andi Shack. We see some nice clips from over the years, and, if you liked those, you can see more clips by purchasing previous seasons of Andi Mack on your preferred streaming platform. (And coming to Disney+ this Fall!)

Bex tells Andi how proud she is of her and they hug.

Bowie hugs her, too, and tells her she’s going to do great things.

And then, like responsible adults, they decide to go clean up the house. We’ve all really grown so much, haven’t we?

Andi regroups with Cyrus, Buffy, and Jonah. Cyrus says they should be mindful of the moment because after this, we’re all going our separate ways. They all yell at Cyrus for this.

Andi reassures them all that no matter where they go or what they do, they’ll always be a part of each other’s lives.

And then they do this weird sort of group imagine thing where they actually manifest images of the future.

Where they’re all like, doing adult things, but also, still look like children? It’s, um... it’s a little odd.

But I’m going to retain my positivity and head for the finish line.

Andi asks Jonah to take a picture of the GHC standing together as they did on that first day of second grade. Then, Cyrus drops a Winnie the Pooh quote: “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

The four share one last group hug.

Andi asks if they’re all going to meet tomorrow at The Spoon, and they agree.

Each one hugs Andi one last time before exiting.

Andi watches them leave, then heads inside Andi Shack to put up the pictures. She smiles and walks out.

And that, my friends, is a wrap on Andi Mack.

This isn’t goodbye -- I’ve got a little more stuff planned -- but I think this is probably the thing that will be read by the most amount of people familiar with my blog, so let me just say this here: if you’ve read any or all of my recaps, or even if you’re just reading this one, thank you. I have loved writing them and I have loved being a part of this fandom, and I appreciate all of you who took the time to be a part of it with me.

This show and this fandom have been such an amazing experience for me, and it has brought me so much joy this past year and a half. So, once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

My list of things I want from Andi Mack season 4 if we get one

I’ve tried not to look at other people’s posts like this so as to not be repetitive so hopefully most of these aren’t just mirrors of what others have said. Also remember this is just what I want so if you don’t agree that’s fine because this is just what I as an individual would like to see.

1. TJ BEING ADDED AS A MAIN CHARACTER

2. Confirmation that Amber and TJ are siblings.

3. Tyrus first date and kiss (not necessarily in the same scene because I think it might be cuter if they date for a while before kissing, I’m just saying I want both)

4. Andi going to SAVA and reconnecting with Libby and Walker, also attending SAVA

5. Muffy bickering

6. Cyrus calling TJ Thelonious in private

7. Jonah seeking out and receiving help for his anxiety and panic attacks

8. Cyrus coming out to his parents

9. TJ getting to state he’s gay like Cyrus got to

10. Jonah staying single for a while (cause he’s basically been in a relationship since the very first episode and it never ends well)

11. Bex and Bowie having another child

12. A possible return of Reed simply so he can cutely mock TJ for being in a relationship.

13. Tyrus hand holds

14. Cyrus cuddling into TJ’s shoulder

15. Andi having a teacher who doubts her because she’s just a craft person but then her crushing it and getting an A in their class and proving she belongs there (just give me tons of Andi straight up killing it in SAVA)

16. Bex and Bowie make some friends their own ages like possibly with Cyrus and Buffy parents or parents of people who go to SAVA just basically let them hang out with adults instead of children for once.

17. Kira not returning because I actually like how they left things with her because it shows that not all people can be redeemed, some people just are the way they are and there’s not much you can do about that.

18. Cece finalising a divorcee from Ham so he can continue to travel without being restricted and so she can move on and start living her life more freely

19. (This is more so if we get a season 5 because it would take more time for Cece to get to this point) Cece dating again, she deserves happiness

20. TJ learning about Cyrus’s past crush on Jonah and not being jealous because he’s secure with their relationship and trusts his boy

21. Marty starts training for another marathon and although Buffy isn’t planning on running one she trains with him so he’s not alone

22. The group meeting up at The Spoon every weekend as a way to wrap up their week and catch the others up on what’s been going on.

23. Andi growing her hair out (if she wants, it just seems like she always cuts her hair at the beginning of the season but now Peyton has her hair grown out a bit so basically just let her leave it if she wants)

24. Cyrus telling his and TJ’s love story through tater theatre

25. Or even better since this will be on a different platform, have the first episode start with Cyrus summing up the first 3 seasons with tater theatre

26. Marty jokingly does tater theatre and everyone yells at him because that’s Cyrus’s thing

27. The dumbass trio being the dumbass trio, basically just give me lots and lots of Marty, Jonah, and TJ hanging out and making bad decisions

28. If Amber and TJ are confirmed to be siblings, I want a lot of bickering and playful roughhousing (like Amber hitting the back of TJ’s head and TJ pinching her arm, stuff like that) but then maybe a scene where someone at school is acting homophobic towards TJ and Cyrus and Amber jumps in like “you made one hell of a mistake going after my little brother”

29. Andi being upset at first when her parents tell her their going to have another kid because she’s been an only child her whole life (even when she thought Bex was her sister, she was never around therefore Andi was still treated like an only child) but then slowly coming to terms with it and is the best big sister once her new sibling arrives

30. Diving deeper into the home lives of other characters, for example we still don’t for sure who Buffy was living with while her mom was deployed because she never mentioned another parent or a grandparent or anybody, Cyrus could or could not be an only child, they’ve never explained if he has any siblings, half siblings, or step siblings

31. Give more characters siblings because this eternal only child thing just doesn’t make sense. Cece is the only character at this point to have a confirmed sibling and that’s weird to me

32. TJ has a meal with all of Cyrus’s parents and he’s extremely nervous so Cyrus comforts him by holding his hand under the table

As more and more of us in the Friendom continue to reach out to Hulu, our chances of getting a renewal for our beloved show grow as well. There seems to be plenty of factors that will affect the outcome of our current efforts, and it’ll be a long wait until we hear anything regarding a final decision. But for now, let’s try to fast forward a bit:

After almost a year of waiting, corporate at both Hulu and Disney Channel have finally heard our voices. They have decided to renew Andi Mack for a fourth season to stream on Hulu. Both companies announce the news on their respective Twitter accounts, and news articles begin appearing across the Internet about this miraculous resurrection. Cast members take to Instagram with reunion photos captioned “Surprise!” and #themackisback starts trending on Twitter internationally. Those who have made their peace with the original series finale rejoice as the moment feels so surreal, and the entire Friendom overflows with joy. For a second, it all feels fuzzy and too good to be true. But that raises the question:

What Would Season 4 Even Be About?

In this TED talk, I will be exploring a few of the things I feel would be interesting plot points and ideas for the show to cover. These are just ideas from all the emotions I’ve been feeling since the finale, but I hope that I’m able to communicate them properly and that you understand what I’m trying to say, lol. Here I go!

From a logical perspective, there are things we know that the fourth season will focus on:

- Andi’s time at SAVA

- Cyrus, Buffy (and possibly Jonah) starting at Grant without Andi

- Cyrus and Thelonious’ new relationship

- Buffy and Marty’s new relationship

There are other things I want to see from the fourth season, and there’s just so much unexplored territory with these characters that it really is bittersweet knowing that these stories will never unfold on the small screen for us. One can hope, and we will still have fanfics written by those in the Friendom. However if we do get a fourth season, these are some things I personally would love to see.

- Andi developing a true sense of independence. Her whole life she’s had an tight-knit immediate support system through her friends and family, but now she’s going to a school where she doesn’t know anybody doing things none of her other friends and family have had experience in. She’s been surrounded by things familiar to her since second grade (or possibly before that) so seeing her grow into somebody separate from those things would be so amazing. She knows SAVA is where she belongs, and now she’s gotta prove it to herself.

- Andi-Cyrus development. We’ve gotten a lot of Andi-Buffy and Cyrus-Buffy moments, but the two definitely outweigh any development we’ve gotten from Andi and Cyrus. I mean, sure, they’re best friends! I know they love each other and are important to one another, but it still seems like some unexplored territory. I’m hoping they’re just as close as they are with the other seeing as they’ve known each other since the second grade. Though now that Andi is going to a different school, I don’t know how they would work that in.

- Buffy’s home life being explored. We’ve only ever met her mother a couple times, but her dad didn’t seem to be significant enough to her story for them to actually cast and write him into the series. There’s no doubt in my mind that her parents are insanely proud of her for her growth and accomplishments since the first season. However, it would be nice to see what kind of relationship she has with her dad.

- Cyrus finally coming out this parents. We were robbed of such a plot point because so many people, regardless of age or gender or race, have to deal with coming out to their families. As much love and acceptance as Cyrus deserves, I personally don’t want it to be one of those “we’ve always known, we still love you” kinds of coming out because those aren’t always the case. I think that when he does come out, I can imagine at least one of his family members not fully accepting of it. I’m not saying that Cyrus needs to be have a hard time coming out to his family, but in the long-run it would make sense. Also if Thelonious is already out to his parents, I’m hoping he helps Cyrus come out to his as well.

- We need more sibling relationships to be shown. As I’m writing this I’m noticing that a large chunk of the characters are only children? They’ve had a lot of different family structures represented but haven’t really focused on any sibling relationships. I think Cece and Mei, and Iris and her brother are the only siblings we’ve been given.

- Jonah getting the proper help he needs for his anxiety. I really don’t want them to forget about Jonah’s mental health, but it almost seems like they let it take a backseat to his family’s financial problems. Real anxiety doesn’t just go away, and seeing as Jonah’s only been dealing with it for roughly a couple of months, they wouldn’t just subside this quickly. Obviously I don’t want him to suffer attacks every day for the sake of him having them, but it does need to be fleshed out and handled a little better.

- Bex and Bowie making some new friends their age. Maybe other parents with kids at SAVA? Maybe Cyrus and Buffy’s parents? I understand it’s important to be involved in your child’s life, especially after secretly being her sister/non-existent dad for 13 years, but I can’t remember a time when either Bowie or Bex have mentioned any other friends their age. Other than M*randa and that lady that wanted to sue Bex (lmao) there haven’t been many other memorable young-adult interactions. They’ve been so focused on making up for lost time with Andi, making up for lost time with each other, and assuming their roles as parents that they haven’t really grown beyond their familial bonds. It would be nice to see how the act when they’re not in Responsible Parent Mode™.

- More character development for Amber. Now that the GHC (sans Andi) are going to Grant with her, she can be like their Big Sister Figure™ and help them adjust. We’d hopefully see her more often and get a look into what she’s like on a more day-to-day basis. See how she copes with her familial problems on the days they really upset her. Maybe even coming a bit more out of her shell and joining their school’s chess team.

- Thelonious fully coming to terms with his sexuality. I’m hoping, if he’s not already publicly out, that they develop his story of self-acceptance. Do his parents know? His grandparents? The other GHC? The way his sexuality storyline should be handled differently than they did Cyrus’ because everyone’s experience with their own sexuality is unique. I can’t think of how to word this properly, but TJ seems a lot more open and bold about it. He wants the world to know that he’s proud of who he is, because it’s true. Cyrus sought validation and security from others, only to find it in himself. TJ sought validation and security in himself, and found it in others. These two have such an amazing dynamic, and it would be amazing to explore TJ’s inner workings to the level that Cyrus’ have been.

- TJ and Cyrus being more than each other. I want them to branch out and grow into successful young people who value their own personal lives as individuals as much as they value the relationship they have together. Obviously Cyrus tries out for Grant’s drama club and TJ tries out for the school’s basketball team, but imagine their new interests! Cyrus on the debate team, TJ in the school’s orchestra, Cyrus on student council, TJ in a peer mediation group! The possibilities are endless.

Those were some of the heavier things I thought would be likely/addressable in the show, but here’s some smaller, less thought-out ideas would still like to see:

- Walker also attends SAVA. I feel as though he’s at least a year older than the GHC (same age as Amber) and has been there a year before Andi.

- Marty possibly also being jealous of Buffy. Possibly as a result of Rachel being so jealous of Buffy. Not to the extent that it’s toxic, but just enough to create room for growth. A good way to address the cycle of jealousy. Plus Marty has no character flaws yet, soo.

- A social hierarchy at their new high school. Sure, Jefferson might have had one too with Christina or the boys’ basketball team, but high school hierarchies are very real. They’re both subtle and unspoken but also noticeable and in-place.

- All the Muffy and Tyrus hugs. Sadly leaving poor Jonah as the fifth wheel, lmao.

- Buffy, Jonah, TJ, and Cyrus are either suddenly too busy for one another or one realize they’re all growing apart. (Think of the dynamic between Shane and Mitchie in Camp Rock 2 lmao) High school does tend to separate people from one another, and peer groups shift all the time.

- Andi not cutting her hair short again. I’ve noticed that she cut her hair again somewhere around the beginning of Season 2 and again at the beginning of Season 3 maybe. Either it’s a personal choice for her, or the crew on the show wanted her to keep a consistent look (I’m going with the latter). I think that her hair growth could be a metaphor for her character growth, seeing as she’s branched out and not worried about keeping things the same anymore.

- Other groups of people being represented. Maybe we might get a Muslim character, a dark-skinned character, a non-binary or gender nonconforming character. While the show does have a way with tossing aside its background characters, it would still be great for them to be shown in the AM universe.

- The return of other background characters like Iris, Libby, Reed, pink backpack kid, Leo, etc.!

- Buffy continuing the trend of carrying Cyrus.

- Any other character questioning their sexuality, now that Cyrus (and by then, TJ) are out. We’ve all kinda headcanoned Amber to be lesbian, despite all the Jamber; Andi to be pansexual despite all the Jandi; Jonah to be bisexual, less and less as the show progressed; and Bex to be bisexual, though now that she’s married I don’t want anything to happen to Bexie.

- An episode or two focusing on racism. A little bit more real-life, internalized racism than the racial prejudice towards Buffy’s hair and the racial stereotypes Andi faced.

There are so many possibilities that a fourth season could bring us! And with Hulu, they might have less restrictions than Disney Channel laid down. I know that we shouldn’t get our hopes up too much, but I felt as thought we should start discussing what a fourth season would even be like before asking for one without speculation. That’s all I have at the moment, but maybe as time progresses I’ll think of some other things that I’d like to see or remember some plot points they left open.

I hope that if we do get renewed that it will still feel like Andi Mack, and that the future content still possesses the same kind of energy it gave off so well. As of right now, for me, it’s still all a bit fuzzy. I can’t believe the show ended. We got what we wanted, and yet are still yearning for more. That’s when you know something is good material, when it keeps you hooked despite any and all of the curveballs it may throw.

Somewhere out there, Andi, and Buffy, and Cyrus, and Thelonious, and Marty, and Amber, and Bex, and Bowie, and Cece are all living their best lives. It was amazing to experience their stories alongside them.

Pre Finale

The goal was to have a party better than the first party. Obviously, that goal was reached when the idea for open mic was brought up. The goal was more than reached when the whole gang joined together and sang Dancing Queen. At least, that’s when everyone thought it hit its peak, but there was still a whole night ahead of them.

“Uuuggggghhhhh,” Cyrus groaned when he sat down next to Buffy. She was outside alone. Cyrus assumed that she just needed to get away from everyone for a second. He thought it was the perfect time to have a conversation with her.

“I feel that,” Buffy said quietly. “I just *unintelligible noise*. You know?”

“Trust me, I know,” Cyrus answered. “Like, I completely and utterly know exactly what you mean. Boys. I like TJ so much, and there’s times when I think he likes me too, but then he hangs out with Kira or I remember that he’s probably straight.”

Buffy nodded in agreement. Cyrus wasn’t done ranting. “Did you see how he looked at me when he walked in? And, did you notice how I was all set on singing alone, but he put my microphone next to him? Literally, the microphone was on top of him. I’m not crazy, right? Am I just imagining all of this? I was probably just deluding myself.”

“You weren’t deluding yourself,” Buffy stated. “I’ve seen the way he looks at you. Obviously, I can’t say for sure, but I’m pretty positive that he likes you, Cy. I, on the other hand, completely missed my shot with Marty. He doesn’t like me anymore.”

“That’s not true, Buff,” Cyrus said sweetly. Buffy rolled her eyes. “No, seriously. I think he told you that he doesn’t like you anymore because he was scared of being rejected again.”

“You know there’s only one way for us to figure all this out, right?” Buffy questioned. They both pretended to shiver. “We have to talk to them.” Buffy pointed at someone on the bench by the fire. “Speak of the devil.”

“Oh, God,” Cyrus said, standing up. Buffy stood up too. “I can do this.”

“Yeah, you can,” Buffy said supportively. “Tell me everything right after, okay? Good luck.”

“You too,” Cyrus said before he turned on his heel and headed toward TJ. “Can I sit?”

“Sure,” TJ answered with a grin.

“I didn’t know that you could play the piano,” Cyrus stated. TJ shrugged.

“I have layers,” he replied. Cyrus smiled remembering the first time TJ said that to him.

“So, I’ve heard,” Cyrus said with a smile.

“I’ll tell you anything you want to know about me,” TJ said sincerely. “All you have to do is ask. Go for it.”

“Okay,” Cyrus said. He thought for a second. “What does TJ stand for?”

“TJ stands for,” TJ took a breath, “Taylor James.”

“Taylor James? Like, James Taylor backwards?” Cyrus asked, half joking. TJ shook his head fondly. “Taylor James. That’s a great name. I love it.”

“I never really liked it because people used to make fun of me because they thought that Taylor was more of a feminine name,” TJ explained. “I don’t know. I guess it was kind of embarrassing, so that’s why I started going by TJ.”

“Well, I love the name Taylor,” Cyrus said enthusiastically. “But, I also love the name TJ. I think you should go by whatever makes you feel comfortable, and people should respect that.”

“You’re literally the only person I can talk to like this,” TJ says.

“So I’ve heard,” Cyrus said, giggling slightly. Neither of them said anything for a second. Then, TJ got the nerve to ask Cyrus a question.

“Is there anything you want to tell me?” he asked. Cyrus took a breath. Slowly, slowly, TJ’s hand traveled to meet Cyrus’s. His fingertips brushed Cyrus’s.

“Uh,” Cyrus let out another breath. “I’m gay.” TJ smiled at him. Like, full on gigantic grin. “And I like you,” Cyrus said quietly.

“I like you, too,” TJ said, holding up their intertwined hands. Cyrus grinned back.

“I love holding hands,” Cyrus said. TJ put their hands in his lap and squeezed.

“I love holding your hand.”

Buffy watched Cyrus walk over to TJ, and then she went into the house. Marty was at the mic performing some sort of stand-up thing. He was actually pretty funny, and Buffy was going to tell him that.

“Hey,” she said when he walked over to her after. “You were pretty funny up there.”

“That sounded like an actual compliment,” Marty responded. Buffy blushed slightly. “What’s happening here?”

“Do you really not like me anymore?” Buffy asked. Marty looked at her, slightly, confused. “I mean, I completely get it if you don’t. I said we were better off as friends, and you thought that I didn’t like you.”

“Buffy,” Marty said, but she ignored him.

“I realized that I liked you after I rejected you, and then it was too late,” Buffy continued. “And, it’s probably too late now. I just had to tell you in case maybe you still liked me, but you don’t. That’s completely fine. Trust me, it’s fine.”

“Buffy!” Marty said loudly. Buffy stopped talking and looked at Marty. “You ramble when you’re nervous.” Buffy blushed. “You have nothing to be nervous about, though. I still like you. I never stopped. How could I stop liking The Buffy Driscoll?”

“That is one of the universe’s great unanswered questions,” Buffy said with a smirk. Marty grinned at her.

“She’s back,” he said. Buffy was about to respond when she saw Cyrus and TJ walking toward them holding hands. She had to physically stop herself from screaming.

“Hi, Marty,” Cyrus greeted. “This is my…TJ.”

“You can say boyfriend, Underdog,” TJ whispered to him. Cyrus smiled and turned to Buffy.

“I can say boyfriend,” he said excitedly. TJ grinned.

“It’s fine, anyway. TJ and I already know each other,” Marty said. TJ reached over and did some sort of secret handshake with Marty. Cyrus and Buffy shared a very confused look. “Guys, we’re brothers.”

“You’re what?” Cyrus and Buffy asked in unison.

“Hey, sis,” Marty said to someone. Amber walked over to them. Buffy and Cyrus didn’t know what to say.

“Hey, losers,” she greeted.

“What on Earth is happening?” Cyrus asked Buffy.

“I think the universe is imploding because we finally got together with the…Kippen Brothers,” Buffy offered. Amber shrieked.

“No way! I’m so happy for you guys!” she yelled, hugging both of her brothers.

“What is going on in here?” Andi asked when she and Jonah joined the group.

“Amber, TJ, and Marty are siblings,” Buffy stated, still not fully comprehending.

“What?” Andi asked, completely shocked.

“You didn’t know that?” Jonah asked. Andi, Cyrus, and Buffy all looked at him.

“You did?” Andi countered. “Why didn’t you tell us?”

“I thought you knew,” he said defensively. He pointed at Cyrus and TJ holding hands. “Cyrus is dating TJ, and he’s friends with Amber.” He pointed at Marty’s arm around Buffy. “Buffy is dating Marty, and she played basketball with TJ. And you and Amber,” both girls blushed, “are you and Amber. You tell each other everything.”

“We should have known,” Andi said. Buffy looked at her.

“Where have you guys been all night?” Buffy asked. Jonah smiled and nodded at Andi.

 “I was showing him something. Something that I have to show you guys now,” Andi explained. She began walking to Andi Shack, and everyone followed her. Bex and Bowie were both outside. “Mom, dad, come here.”

 Andi opened the door to Andi Shack and let everyone see what was in there: she turned all her old Grant Middle School and Jefferson High paraphernalia into a shape that resembled the word goodbye.

 “Why would you do this? Why are you saying goodbye?” Buffy asked. Andi let out a breath.

 “I got into Shadyside Academy of Visual Arts, and I’m going there instead of Jefferson,” Andi explained.

 “Did you know about this?” Bowie asked Bex. Bex looked at Andi.

 “No,” she said softly.

 “I didn’t want to tell anyone because I was scared that I wouldn’t get in,” Andi explained. “I had to make sure that I got accepted first.”

 “We’ll give you guys a minute,” Bowie said when he saw the sad looks on Buffy and Cyrus’s faces. The three of them stood there not really knowing what to say. 

 “Are you guys mad?” Andi asked.

 “Of course, we aren’t mad,” Cyrus stated.

 “Maybe we’re a little sad, but we’re mostly proud of you,” Buffy explained. Cyrus nodded.

 “But,” Cyrus began, “it’s not like you’re moving across the country. You’re just going to a different school. We’ll still see you all the time.”

 “All the time,” Andi said, trying not to cry. Buffy and Cyrus moved forward and hugged her. Cyrus pulled away and smiled.

 “We have a party to get to,” he said. “I also have a boyfriend to get to.”

 “Cy, you know how proud of you we are, right?” Andi asked. Cyrus nodded. “We’re also really happy for you.”

 “I’m really happy, too,” Cyrus said. “Come on, let’s get out there.”

 Cyrus and Buffy both went over to the fire and sat down next to TJ and Marty, respectively. Andi was about to go over too when she felt someone grab her arm. She turned around to see Jonah.

 “I have something to give you,” Jonah said. Andi prepared herself for another horrible present, but, instead, she was greeted by a very familiar bracelet.

 “I thought you lost this at camp,” she said, reaching out as Jonah put it in her hands. He shrugged.

 “I thought that if I told you that I still had it, then you would want me to give it back. I didn’t want to give it back,” Jonah explained. “When you first gave it to me, I couldn’t believe that you made it. It was so amazing. I knew that you were a ridiculously talented artist. Now, it’s your turn to look at this bracelet every day and remember how talented you are.”

 “Jonah, you are literally the best friend ever,” Andi said, hugging him. Jonah let out a small laugh.

 “You’re gonna be docious magocious at art school,” he said when they she pulled away. She smiled at the term she hadn’t heard in what felt like an eternity.

They both walked over to the rest of the group at the campfire. Andi sat down next to Amber who smiled sheepishly at her. Jonah sat at his own bench. There they sat: the Good Hair Crew, the Kippen Siblings, and Jonah Beck. The ultimate group. The group to end all groups. Sure, they still had a whole lot to get through (they were nowhere near the end of their story) but in that moment they were untouchable. They were together. They were here.

Andi Mack is back so here’s Tyrus fic #10 🎉🥴

TJ was rummaging through his locker, looking for his History book for his next class. He heard a familiar voice call out to him. As he turned around, he met face-to-face with Kira.

“Hey!” she smiled brightly.

“Hey, what’s up?” TJ smiled back.

“Are you doing anything on the 24th? There’s this amazing movie that’s coming out and I really wanna see it. You down?” Kira bounced up and down on her tiptoes.

“Uh, sure, let me check,” TJ opened his phone and checked his calendar.

“Ah, wait...I’m busy that day...” he said a little bit quieter than usual. That was the day of Bex and Bowie’s reception for the wedding they eventually decided to have. Which was literally less than a week away. Why would he go to Bex and Bowie’s wedding reception in the first place? Well, because Cyrus asked him to, of course. He tried to prepare his answer for the inevitable question incoming.

“Really? What are you doing?” Kira looked up at him. Just then, the bell rang. Whew.

“Uh, I’ll tell you later. I got to go to class.” TJ turned around and started walking away. Kira trotted after him and giggled.

“We’re in the same History class, genius. Now tell me what you’re doing,” she clutched her books to her chest and playfully bumped her shoulder into his.

“Uh, well...I’m going to a wedding reception that day.”

“Oh, wow! That sounds SO nice. Are you taking anyone?” Kira smiled somewhat mischievously. Now, this was the question TJ wasn’t prepared for. What would she do if he said Cyrus asked him already? What would happen if she knew he was going to a formal event with another boy, let alone Cyrus?

“Uhhh...”

“We could always see that movie another time. You’re allowed to bring a plus-one, right? Let’s go to the wedding reception together!” Kira beamed over at him. TJ stared blankly as he kept walking. He was silent. Kira knitted her eyebrows.

“Hello? What, are you already going with someone? Who?” Kira kept looking at the taller boy beside her. TJ had no idea what to say to her, so he just blurted out a ‘nobody’, and started to walk faster. He hated that word when he was referring to Cyrus. Cyrus was far from ‘nobody’. Kira skipped and caught up with TJ.

“Okay, great!! This will be so much fun!” Kira grinned. ‘Damn it, TJ,’ he thought to himself. He just didn’t know how to say no to this girl. His History classroom couldn’t be any farther away.

A couple days have passed and TJ didn’t know what to do. The reception was days away, and he couldn’t tell Kira that he was already going with someone else. He couldn’t tell her that that someone was Cyrus. He should have lied and said it was a family outing or something. The last thing he wanted was to have a repeat of the Costume Day incident. Well, it wasn’t like him and Kira were going as a couple. He could still bring her along as a friend, and still go with Cyrus...right? Did Cyrus even want to go with him in that way? TJ was deep in his thoughts when Cyrus himself seemed to have materialised in front of him.

“Hey, TJ,” Cyrus smiled up at him. It took TJ a second or two to return to reality and he smiled back at the brown-haired boy.

“Just wanted to ask, what time did you want to go to the reception?” Cyrus started. “My mom wanted to know if she should pick you up, or—“

“Uh, maybe like 5, or something. And tell your mom thanks, but I already have a ride,” TJ tried to sound as calm and collected as he could. “Uh, is it okay if I brought a friend?” TJ asked quickly. Cyrus blinked before he responded.

“Yeah, Bex said we could bring whoever we wanted. Who—“

“Great! I’ll, uh, catch you later. Gotta go,” TJ practically ran off. Cyrus watched TJ until he turned a corner and was out of sight. Cyrus didn’t want to think too much about it, but he had a good idea of who that ‘friend’ was.

TJ sat in the back seat of his parents’ car with his elbow on the armrest, staring out the window. TJ’s father was driving, and his mother was in the passenger seat. ‘Why did they both have to come?’ he wondered. They pulled up to the driveway of a house TJ’s been to a few times. A curly haired girl in a beautiful dress came bounding down the steps and eagerly approached the car. TJ’s father looked at his wife and they both smiled at each other.

“Aw, Timothy, your date is so adorable!” TJ’s mother cooed.

“I told you, she’s not my—“

TJ was interrupted by the sound of the car door opening and Kira greeting TJ and his parents. Ugh, this would be a long car ride.

After a grueling twenty minute ride to the reception venue, they finally made it. TJ’s parents were insufferable; asking Kira all sorts of questions about how she and TJ met, and how long they’ve known each other. It was painfully awkward, but at least it was over. TJ flung open the car door and said bye to his parents.

“Text one of us when you’re ready. Have fun, you two,” TJ’s dad grinned at the pair, and then drove off.

It had been 10 minutes since TJ had texted Cyrus that he was on his way. Cyrus was sitting at a table with Jonah, Buffy, Andi, Amber, and Marty. Buffy noticed Cyrus hunched over and staring at his phone.

“You good?” Buffy put a hand on Cyrus’ back.

“Uh, yeah. I’m just waiting for TJ to text me to tell me he’s here...” Cyrus suddenly stood up. “I think I’ll go walk around and see if he made it.”

Buffy turned around and looked at Andi with a slightly worried look on her face. Cyrus thought of texting TJ, but he didn’t want to come off as annoying, or anything. He just wandered about, scanning the faces of the people around him. Then, finally, he found the tall blond boy standing around the juice table. Cyrus began to walk towards him but something caused him to freeze in his tracks. Kira was there too. ‘Oh, right...’ Cyrus thought to himself. Cyrus decided to be cordial and started walking towards them again. He had barely made two steps before he saw something else that would make him stop walking. He saw Kira wrap her arm around TJ’s and shortly put her head on his shoulder before pulling him around to walk somewhere else. Suddenly, he was locked in eye contact with TJ from across the room. Cyrus felt his face grow hot with embarrassment, and he stormed away from the scene. TJ released himself from Kira’s grip and started to go after Cyrus. Kira also started to follow behind him until TJ made a sharp 180 turn and looked down at Kira, stopping her in her tracks.

“Kira, no. I need to talk to him. Alone,” TJ left Kira standing by herself and tried to find Cyrus.

TJ found Cyrus outside the building, sitting on a bench in front of a campfire. TJ sighed to himself before walking over and sitting down beside him.

“Hey,” TJ smiled softly at the boy beside him. Cyrus looked over at TJ and looked back at his shoes.

“Hey...” Cyrus replied quietly.

“Look, Cyrus, I...I’m sorry I brought Kira. I know I should have told you. She pretty much invited herself and I didn’t know how to tell her no...” TJ began to explain.

“You shouldn’t have to tell her no for my sake, TJ. If you wanted to go with her, who am I to stop you?” Cyrus continued looking down at his shoes.

“That’s the thing...I didn’t want to go with her, because you had asked me already.”

“It’s fine, TJ. I don’t want to come between you two. You look really happy.”

“I told you before, we’re not a couple. And we will never be. I...I’m sorry.” TJ looked down at his own shoes.

“I was probably deluding myself anyway,” Cyrus sighed and looked up at the dark sky. TJ looked back up at Cyrus and turned his body on the bench to face him.

“What? What do you mean?” Cyrus didn’t look at TJ. He was silent. TJ’s gaze was fixed on Cyrus’ expression until it traveled downwards and stopped on his hand that was resting on the bench in the space between them. TJ moved his hand slightly and ever so softly brushed it over Cyrus’.

“Cyrus...is there anything you want to tell me?” Cyrus’ felt a shock go through his body as he felt TJ’s fingers touch his own. He looked down at their hands and looked up at TJ almost with tears in his eyes. Cyrus took a deep breath, his heart almost beating out of his chest.

“Promise you won’t say anything until I’m done,” Cyrus pursed his lips and watched TJ nod his head.

“Well...” Cyrus had no idea how he was going to do this. He took another deep breath and decided he would just say whatever came to his mind. There would be no way that he would ever be prepared to come out to the boy he liked, so he might as well just wing it.

“In the past year I found out two important things about myself. One, I’m gay. Two, I have a bad habit of getting crushes on cute athletic green-eyed boys who turn out to be straight,” he pitifully chuckled to himself. “My first crush was, you guessed it, Jonah Beck. But that faded over time, and I found a new crush.” Cyrus looked over at TJ and the poor boy was staring at Cyrus with his mouth slightly hanging open. Cyrus continued. “I think I actually started to like you back when you got that muffin for me, and my feelings only got stronger as time went on. But I already knew you would never be interested in me in that way, so I just never thought about it. I just enjoyed every second I got to spend with you. But the thing is, I think I realised how serious it was when I started to see you hanging out with Kira. I know it’s selfish, because clearly you two are close, but I felt extremely sad and jealous. I can’t believe I’m actually admitting to this but...yeah. I saw you two always on the basketball court, always getting lunch together, and even on the swings in the park. I tried to convince myself that you and Kira were a thing, even if it wasn’t true. Then, maybe, that would get me to stop liking you. But—“

“Cyrus...I—“ TJ attempted.

“No, TJ, please, don’t. I’m not finished yet...I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I ended up liking you. I’m sorry that I got in between you and Kira’s friendship, or relationship, or whatever it is. I’m sorry that I just made our friendship weird. I’m sorry that—“

TJ, in one fluid motion, grabbed both sides of Cyrus’ face and pulled him closer until their lips crashed together. The kiss lasted no more than five seconds, but it was long enough to cause tears to come streaming out of Cyrus’ eyes. TJ’s eyes were still closed when he pulled away from Cyrus. He let out a shaky breath and opened his eyes. TJ immediately moved his thumbs and swiped the tears from Cyrus’ cheeks. TJ lightly chuckled.

“Can I talk now?” Cyrus stuttered out an incomprehensible noise, which TJ took as a ‘yes.’

“You...have nothing to be sorry about.”

Andi Mack 3x19 Review

A Moving Day was a lovely episode though one that had too much filler for such a late episode. Let’s dig in!

Positives:

Despite the cut ep and the re-shoots they were able to give Bex and Bowie a lovely wedding. Bex and Bowie have really been one of the core story lines for the show and it’s nice to see them get such a happy ending. There was a lot of history packed into Bex thanking Bowie for sticking it out and boy was the pay off ever worth it.

This smaller wedding works much better for their dynamic than the big farm wedding did and having it just be a main character affair makes the show more equal. And the snow and the trees and mountains and gazebo made for one of the most visually stunning eps of the show. Almost like a farewell to filming on location in Utah.

Asher’s performance of You Girl was awesome, glad they played what seemed like the whole song. 

Like Celia, I’m also glad no one said ‘um’!

It was nice to see Celia again. I’m glad they were able to give her ample screen time this ep to somewhat make up for what she’s lost. It makes so much sense that she’d be so into puzzles. And really showcases her personality that she climbs a mountain in heels. 

This really was a nice send off for the whole Mack family. Andi gets the nuclear family she’s always wanted, Bex and Bowie get the happy ending they’ve waited 14 years for, and Celia gets to see her wayward daughter take charge of her life. 

It took until the penultimate episode but we finally met Jonah’s mom, Judy Beck née Bartholomew (Terri really does like her Biblical names). That she ended up marrying one of her background helpers is a love story for the ages. 

I’m glad they gave Jonah a happy ending and we can end the series knowing that his family is in a better place and on track to recover from bankruptcy. 

I’ll have more to say about the filler in the negatives section but I did like Buffy’s deconstructed toast line, Cyrus not being self deprecating about his strength, and Asher almost breaking character while doing his mom’s dance. 

Nice that they snuck in one more Buffy picking up Cyrus moment. Truly those two have the best friendship on this show. 

I’m almost certain that Bowie scaring Celia was a nod to Trent scaring people on set, he has a whole instagram story dedicated to him spooking his co-workers. 

They brought in one of their casting directors, Steven O’Connor, to play the officiant which was a nice gesture and of course we got one last family cameo with Coco Angel playing Judy. 

Re-Shoots:

Bringing in this section since most of this ep were re-shoots. I’m not going to nit pick the plot holes that arose because of them: like how did Jonah learn You Girl without Bowie teaching him, how did he write the extended version, how Jonah and Cyrus and Buffy got to the Gazebo, why Cyrus and Buffy were dressed as waiters and didn’t actually do any waitering. Obviously whatever the original Gazebo event was would have had differences and production had limited time and budget to turn it into a new wedding as smoothly as possible. 

Not much actually happened in this ep and that was a sad side effect of the re-shoots. Scenes like the Macks in the car and the Macks hiking dragged on so long because they were easy to film fairly quickly, just like the party scenes in A Good Hair Day were quite long. 

I’m actually glad that they didn’t bother giving a reason for Bex suddenly deciding to get married. I don’t think it would have made all that much sense in otl anyway but without Ham I don’t think they could have come up with a good enough justification. At least with Ham it would have made some sense that he could have mended the rifts between Bex and Bowie and Bex and Celia since he was always the peacemaker and reasonable authority figure as well as a surrogate father and best man for Bowie. 

It seems that every story line except for Tyrus was damaged in some way by the cuts and re-shoots but definitely Celia suffered the most, which is such a shame.

Negatives:

I can’t believe the show decided to waste precious time on a toast making competition in the second to last ep of the entire series. It might have been fine in 3a but to have that filler for a cold open so late in the game is awful.

I gasped when Judy asked Jonah if she could finally meet his friends. He’s been friends with the GHC for like 14 months at this point and they still know nothing about his family? They’ve always kept Jonah apart from the GHC in a lot of ways which hasn’t been to the show’s credit. And while I’m glad that we finally met Jonah’s mom, it shouldn’t have taken this long. 

I’m not surprised but I was disappointed that we never heard that Jonah told his parents about his panic attacks. I get that in America’s horrifying healthcare system that they probably wouldn’t have been able to afford treatment but at least if they knew they could support him and try to help.

Looking Ahead:

Terri must love Winnie the Pooh if she’s having Cyrus quote him as shown in the most recent finale promo. The way Disney cuts the quote with clips from the ep is very clever: we have Tyrus being brave enough to confess their feelings, Muffy strong enough to be vulnerable and get together, and Jandi smart enough to know that now is not a good time for them go get back together. 

Looks like Terri was able to get ample screen time for TJ and Marty so Tyrus and Muffy won’t feel rushed. 

Very glad that Cyrus is the one who approaches TJ at the bench. I’m very interested to see how we go from delusion to confession on Cyrus’ part. Certainly they look happy when Cyrus asks if he can sit and Cyrus is obviously there because he wants to confess.

I assume the bench scene will come late in the ep. Cyrus seeing TJ talk to Kira must be what causes him to feel like he was deluding himself but what spurs him to decide it’s worth the risk to confess to TJ I don’t know. If the music performance is after Kira’s appearance than maybe Cyrus is feeling forlorn and then TJ appears to perform with him, in a way making up for costume day, and that gives Cyrus hope. Or if the performance is before Kira than maybe it’s what gets Cyrus’ hopes up only to have them crushed before someone or something gives him hope. Regardless of which scene is when, I do think that Cyrus and Buffy both give each other the final push to go seek out TJ and Marty and lay it all on the line. 

I’m trying to keep my expectations low since it’s still Disney but I do think we get hand holding based on their bench scene positioning and the fact that Ciris got to hold hands. I think it’s likely they’ll use the word boyfriend and I do think they have some brief post canon scene inside before the party clears out and that’s likely where Tyrus and Muffy have an interaction. I would also like Andi at least to congratulate them but I’m not holding my breath. Having TJ use the word gay would be amazing but seems unlikely and Luke will be able to confirm it on social media anyways. Having Cyrus compliment TJ’s outfit and say it brings out his eyes would be a nice little moment if Terri could swing it. Josh has heavily hinted that we’d see some pay off to Cyrus calling TJ oblivious back in 3x07 and it would be great if we could see Cyrus using a mashup name for him and TJ like was able to with Iris. 

Nice to see them make use of Luke’s piano skills and that means we’ll learn something new about TJ as well as learning his name and of course for most of the audience, the reveal that TJ is gay and likes Cyrus. 

Seems like Cyrus, TJ, Buffy, Bex, Bowie, Amber, Jonah, and Andi are involved in the song, not sure where Marty is. Buffy compliments Marty and says he was funny and I wonder if he did some solo performance beforehand or after. 

If they sing the theme song that’s cheesy af but I can’t see what else they’d have the rights to. 

Muffy confession is outside which makes sense since they’d want some privacy for the Muffy kiss. Very smart to have them canon in the place they first met and once again I’m so glad they got Marty back, a Wuffy endgame just wouldn’t have been anywhere near as good. 

I think the scene of Cyrus and Buffy standing inside in their jackets watching Bex and Bowie dance in their dress and tux is likely after they come in from confessing to their boyfriends and near the very end of the ep. I think Andi showing the mains that she’s cleared out Andi Shack because she got into SAVA is probably at the very end and one of the last scenes.  I don’t know if the show is gonna pretend she’s starting at SAVA immediately because the finale is in December and she would’t be starting high school for 9 months which takes away a lot of the emotional impact of her moving. Or maybe she gets to start early or has to transfer to some new art middle school to finish up 8th grade in order to beef up her skills before starting at SAVA. 

No sign of Kira in any of the promo clips and TJ arrives at the party alone which fits with her appearance meant to be a surprise twist as well as brief since Raquel was only on set for one day and that was the day all the other main and recurring kids were on set and her screen time comes out of TJ’s screen time. I think her 30-60 seconds of screen time will be by far the worst part of the finale. She’s been the most poorly written character on the show; her motvation going from trying to hurt Buffy to trying to date a guy she knows is gay and I’m sure her apology will probably introduce a new motivation, she just wanted a friend or some crap like that. On the plus side it doesn’t look like she sticks around so we don’t have to see TJ befriend her for no justifiable reason though I do think that ‘’sometimes there’s a nice person inside trying to get out’’ line is said to her by TJ or about her by TJ which is awful. I do think that she encourages TJ to talk to or hang out with Cyrus or something and that begins the ‘redemption’ we’ll luckily never have to see. 

We’ll see such growth on Amber’s part from her behaviour at the first party to now.

Jonah gives Andi the bracelet maybe? I don’t think they canon but I do think they leave the door open to get back together in the future. 

I wonder if Celia is coming back to Shadyside or if she’s leaving for good and I wonder if we’ll get a hint for a Bexie baby.

I’ve been hard on Terri but I do trust that the vast majority of the finale will be great and that she got the best ending possible for the show and I’m glad she fought as hard as I’m sure she did for the wonderful Tyrus ending we’re getting. 

It’s going to be bittersweet getting that payoff while also saying goodbye to the show but at least with the longer length we’ll get to see pretty much all of what they filmed. 

We’re on the cusp of watching history being made as Tyrus becomes the first gay couple on Disney Channel. With that in mind, I’d like to remind everyone that Tyrus week starts Monday July 22nd at 4pm eastern standard time and I hope everyone reading this will participate in whatever way they can so we can get Tyrus to number 1 on fandometrics. 

Can’t believe I only have one more review to write. It’s gonna be a great week and a great ep and I can’t wait for us all to see it!

It feels impossible for me to choose a favorite episode so here are my top 5 in chronological order lol

1. Were We Ever— I love everything about this episode. The protest plot was amazing and I loved how Andi called attention to the fact that the dress code unfairly affected girls more than boys. Seeing Andi stand up for herself to Metcalf and then later to Jonah felt so good. The line, “I never stood up for myself before today, but I want to again tomorrow, and the day after that,” resonated with me so much. It’s a lesson Andi needed to learn at age 13, and a lesson I myself needed to be reminded of in my early 20s.

2. Cyrus’s Bash Mitzvah— This episode has so many great moments: the Jewish cultural representation, Cyrus coming out to Andi, the dance number, Walker’s introduction, the fortune teller, the beginning of Jonah’s panic attack storyline, and Bowie’s letter to Andi. Tbh only one thing could have made this episode better (Disney release the deleted Tyrus scene challenge).

3. One In A Minyan— godtier episode!! Again we have some awesome representation (disclaimer: I’m not Jewish but I love to see positive representation of different cultures and truly enjoy learning about them). There are so many great lines in this episode: “It is your choice who you tell and when, but you shouldn’t be afraid to do it.” “I never knew how much I needed a friend like you.” “That’s gefilte fish, skip that, and I’m gay.” Even the purely comedic lines were great: “You can pray but you don’t count.” “Who’s Marty?” Plus, the episode concludes with some superb Tyrus content making this overall a perfect episode.

4. One Girl’s Trash— I love this episode so much. I was so surprised and impressed that they were able to bring the racism and micro aggressions storyline out of subtext and openly discuss it using the word “Asian” so nothing was left ambiguous. I felt so immensely proud of Andi for taking her negative experience and using it to create something beautiful and inspire change. Trashing Stereotypes: Do You See Me Now? is a masterpiece and no one should have been surprised that Andi got into SAVA after making it. On top of all that, Jonah provided some great comedic moments to round out the episode, “What color? I only have green.” “I could try a coughing fit.” *groans*

5. We Were Here— This entire episode was so great. I would love a season 4 but honestly it makes me happy that we were at least given such a wonderful goodbye episode. There are just so many amazing moments in this episode: Bexie’s wedding dance (to THAT song from Bowie’s video of Andi and the background song of when Andi first called him Dad!!), TJ shutting Kira down, THE BORN THIS WAY SCENE, the return of the bracelet and Jandi ending up as friends, Muffy recreating the banter from when they first met, THE BENCH SCENE, and the Andi Shack/ SAVA reveal. On top of all that the outfits were all on point and the song choices had me emotional. The only thing I would have changed is that I think the good hair crew should have let Jonah be in the picture with them. Lastly I have to appreciate that two of the most romantic lines in the entire show were spoken in this episode: “Buffy, I’ve never changed my mind.” And “Is there anything you want to tell me?” I’m getting emotional just thinking about it. I don’t think we could have asked for a better ending than this episode.

I JUST WATCHED THE FINALE AND OH MY GOSH MY HEAD IS SPINNING I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS

I’ll give you my quick thoughts and then jump into Muffy because you already KNOW I am saving a whole section for them

Celia’s growth was amazing. I love that she went from being strict to being so carefree and trusting of Bex

Bex in that wedding dress 👏🏻 Bowie in that Tux 👌🏻 like they didn’t have to do that but they did 😭

The slow dance was SO CUTE OMG

I loved that all of them sang lady Gaga- the song was perfect for them but sad Garren wasn’t on stage with Sofia

However, they showed the ships singing together and whenever they showed Buffy they showed Marty so I was like 😩😭👏🏻 ya know

TJ playing the piano was all I could have asked for

I LOVED the scene when Cyrus and Buffy talked about “relationship woes” like wow. 😭😍 that hurt because the parrallels were so blatantly obvious but Terri made sure to take EQUAL time to explain their woes with each character.

Also WTF KIRA STOP TOUCHING TJ AND PUTTING YOUR ARM ON HIM. This has been my PSA

I LOVED watching TJ just RIP into Kira. Boi 👏🏻 told 👏🏻 her 👏🏻 off. He literally called her out for bullying and asked her to stop (likkkeeee not only was it great bc he was protective boyfriend mode™️ but because he showed growth. He defended Cyrus for something he used to do). It was great and a no Kira redemption was the best way they could have done that and it was was beautiful. 💯

I loved that Jandi scene! I have said I am actually ok with Jandi, but they needed more maturity. Andi needed to find herself and Jonah needed to be ready for a relationship. In time and when Andi can handle conflict, I think they would make a good pairing. But WITH TIME, like they said. Until then, Jonah has the cute bracelet. I think that was such a valuable lesson for kids to not rush something, just because you like someone. Make sure you are actually ready because crushes aren’t all just about endgames (which will sound hypocritical considering what I write next lol) but that they are a LOT of work and you have to have your head on correct to make sure you can handle it. Just *chef’s kiss*

I know Muffy was around this time (sorry my thoughts are so scattered- I am writing this post watching it so not everything is in a congruent timeline) but I am going to come back to them like I said earlier. They have a special reserved™️ section in this post 😍👏🏻

I laughed so hard at TJ’s name but gave all my uwu’s I had left post Muffy (which weren’t many but I reserved some for Tyrus) to that cute little line from Cyrus about how he liked his name 😭

Like watching TJ’s shaky fingers get all close I COULDN’T BREATHE-

They really out here making all benches gay huh?

And you could see how SHY TJ was talking to Cyrus. It was so sweet how flirty and awkward he got. I loved it.

I’m sure their hands were v sweaty but that’s a point for another day lol

I thought the scene was handled well considering their limits and tried to keep my expectations low, but TBH I was pretty bummed they didn’t actually say the words that they liked each other. I wish there was more dialogue than vague questions ya know? Oh well 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was also really REALLY hoping for some canon Muffy and Tyrus scenes at the party and kept checking the time stamp during the last scene hoping they would show SOMETHING but they didn’t say anything. Even just a quick “Hey I’m dating this person now and I love them all my uwu’s” would have been fine but it was like that was completely forgotten

However I’ve seen a few Tumblr posts about someone working on making fic text posts with the GHC talking about their canon ships so I’ll take what I can get :)

The Andi Shack and Andi getting into SAVA didn’t surprise me, but it was sweet

I really liked the whole side by side photo thing they did

What did surprise me was Jonah saying he loved Andi 😭 like that was such a sweet sentiment and I was just like, “Alexa play I Cried by Jonah Beck” you know?

Kinda also dissapointed we heard nothing more about Jonah’s panic attack’s, the hole in the wall, and possible Kippen Siblings

REALLY REALLY want an Andi Mack movie- they made a Lizzie McGuire one after only two seasons so they could with AM to address any plot holes (BUT IF THEY DO IT THEY BETTER HAVE CANON MUFFY AND TYRUS JOIN SO HELP ME BC MIRANDA WAS GONE IN TLMM AND I WAS READY TO SHOW HANDS)

Also other side note: I got kinda frustrated with all of the dancing/singing scenes. Like they were cute but also felt like a lot of wasted screen time (much like 3x19 or the Jonah/Cyrus camping scenes) when other plots could have been addressed

And no speaking lines for Amber? At all? Like...? Even with the Jonah stuff? Or redemption paralleling TJ. IDK seemed a lil wack to me

Ok here’s the good stuff

Muffy:

Again, Alexa play “I Cried” by Jonah Beck BECAUSE OH MY GOSH THEY WERE MY EVERYTHING

Surprisingly didn’t cry as much as 3x14 but I think that’s because I was shaking so bad (seriously I looked like I just went through a terrifying haunted house and stayed overnight in it, my hand trembling so much)

I rewatched the scenes WHICH ONLY MADE IT WORSE BECAUSE I CRIED MORE

I enjoyed writing my fics, but really really liked the way Terri handled this

I loved all of their scenes dancing together and it was funny because after Cyrus and Buffy talked, Buffy was like, “he doesn’t like me” but then Marty spent the ENTIRE night like RIGHT NEXT TO BUFFY. Not with the other girl. Literally physical space is not a real thing with them. Watch when they dance, or when they see CeCe in the Dino costume or any other time, Buffy and Marty are ONLY next to each other and Marty even moves closer to Buffy when they are all huddled around CeCe if you watch closely enough

AND GUESS WHO CHASES AFTER HER- I’M—- UGHHHHHH I’m getting worked up thinking about it tbh

Marty tries the conversation again and she SAYS SHE LIKES HIM. NO HESItation what kind of ROMANCE—

I remember trying to look up Muffy fan videos after two episodes of them together because I already fell in love with them and there was one like barely edited thirty second video on YouTube. I tried to post something on here and like two people liked it. I LIKED THEM WHEN BASICALLY NO ONE ELSE DID AND SO I FEEL LIKE I AM ONE OF THE MOST DESERVING OF THIS SHIP BEING ENDGAME AND NO ONE CAN FIGHT ME ON THIS JUST LET ME LOVE THEM

MUFFY KISS (sorry needed to say it one more time for emphasis)

And then they walked away together with their arms around each other 😭 If you watch closely Buffy kinda tucks her head into his arm and I’ve seen fics of them doing this so it made me heart 💗💓💓 when they actually did

I JUST WANT TO SEE THEM AS A CANON COUPLE IS THAT TO MUCH TO ASK

Please Terri Minksy, I beg of you, if you don’t get a S4 make a movie but it is REQUIRED BY LAW that Muffy and Tyrus are in the ENTIRE movie- being canon and cute. They don’t even need angst but I still want scenes with them together just being in love.

I will be spending the entire next week in complete denial that this show is over, while rewatching this episode ten times and reading every Muffy fic I can find. Thanks for coming to my Tedx talk.

Hello Friendom! 💖

A year ago, on August 1st, I made this blog so I could scream about Tyrus.

I watched the first Andi Mack episode before it officially aired and remember thinking it had lots of potential, especially since their main character was a young Asian-American girl!

I didn’t actually start watching it until Cyrus’ coming out scene with Buffy though.

I thought his crush on Jonah was the cutest, but if I'm being honest I never really shipped them only because Jonah was that nice to everyone (love his resting smiling face). But I loved how progressive the show was turning out to be!

I may only talk about Tyrus, but I related to Andi quite a bit. I was raised by a single mother and seeing Andi find out her sister was actually her mom and her dad wasn't in the picture (yet) made me ache.

Which is why I was ecstatic when they brought Bowie in and seemed like they'd one day be a happy family.

Anyways, I stopped watching the show a bit before Cyrus' bar mitzvah episode.

I began to watch it again when Buffy In a Bottle came out though, and saw Andi Mack trending and a bunch of gifs and pictures of Cyrus and TJ on the swings.

Which obviously piqued my interest, so I started watching Andi Mack where I left off and instantly feel in love with Cyrus and TJ's dynamic.

So after I caught up to Andi Mack I decided I needed to make yet another side blog. Which I did and I'm so happy for that decision!

For a while I had stopped editing. I graduated from university and was just working to earn money. But Cyrus' and TJ's relationship brought me back into editing and creating graphics.

And I've received SO MUCH love and support from the fandom that it makes me heart melt.

So that's why I want to thank everyone in the fandom who I've met and become friends with and everyone who's supported my graphics.

I read all the tags on my edits and all of your tags make me so HAPPY. I've enjoyed making you all feel emotions through my edits hehe.

So thank you for being a part of this wonderful experience with me. Many of you are so young, and I admire the hell out of all of you for being so strong and accepting of who you are.

To start this show because of Tyrus and for them to end as boyfriends is surreal.

I won't stop making content for them though! They mean too much to me to just stop.
