Sam is back live!

Pairing: Max Verstappen x PewDiePie!sibling Summary: What if Felix had a genius brother who works as a RedBull's engineer and is also secretly dating Max part 12 of A Calm to my Storm Masterlist

Jack greeted the stream with his usual energy, waving to the camera. The little box that Felix usually occupied in their videos was now showing Felix's empty chair. “Hey, guys! So, Felix is running a little late today. He’ll be here soon, though. He mentioned something about airport but I didn't manage to catch it, so you know as much as I do.”

The chat immediately flooded with curious comments:

User 109: “Late?? Pewds? Never!”

User 110: “Who's Felix picking up?? 👀”

User 111: “Jack, you should roast him for being late lmao.”

User 112: “Airport? Did someone special arrive?? 👀”

User 113: “Wait, Felix is never late, what’s going on???”

Jack laughed, leaning into the camera. “I think you guys are gonna like this. But yeah, Felix will explain it when he gets here. I’m just here to keep you entertained in the meantime.”

He joked with the chat, playing around with a few games while everyone kept wondering why Felix was so delayed.

-40 minutes later-

Suddenly, the door burst open, and Felix stumbled into frame, slightly dishevelled. “Hey, everyone! Sorry, sorry! I know I’m late!”

The chat blew up instantly:

User 114: “FINALLY, HE’S HERE!”

User 115: “PEWDS IN THE HOUSE!”

User 116: “Better late than never, Felix!”

User 117: “What took you so long, man???”

Felix rubbed his temples dramatically, exasperation in his voice. “So, turns out, flying from Australia makes you completely unable to call a cab. I had to drive all the way to the airport and back just because someone was lazy.” He gave the camera a sarcastic look. “Because, you know, that's impossible to do.”

The chat exploded with confusion and excitement:

User 118: “WHO DID YOU PICK UP???”

User 119: “Australia?? Who’s from Australia?”

User 120: “Omg is it Marzia???”

User 121: “Did Jack finally move to Europe? 😂”

User 122: “Guys the last f1 race was in Australia!!!”

Felix stepped aside and yelled toward the hallway, “Hey, Sam! Get over here! You’re sooo streaming with me now, because you made me late!”

The chat immediately exploded in excitement:

User 123: “SAM??????”

User 124: “NO WAY, SAM KJELLBERG IS BACK!!!”

User 125: “WAIT, YOU PICKED UP SAM FROM THE AIRPORT?!”

User 126: “OMG IT’S HAPPENING!”

User 127: “THE THIRST RETURNS!”

A moment later, Sam casually strolled into the room, his usual smirk on his face. He was wearing a long-sleeved shirt that hugged his shoulders and toned arms, much to the delight of the viewers.

Felix shot Sam a look. “Look at you. Couldn’t even call a cab, could you?”

Sam shrugged, completely unfazed. “What can I say? I missed my big bro.”

The Chat Loses It

User 128: “SAM IS HERE! SAM IS HERE!!”

User 129: “Oh my god, he’s hotter than last time. I can’t.”

User 130: “PEWDIEPIE’S BROTHER BACK AT IT AGAIN, AND STILL LOOKING FINEEEE!”

User 131: “THE MUSCLES ON THIS MAN AND NOW THE TAN FROM THAT AUSTRALIAN SUN😍”

User 132: “FELIX, YOUR BROTHER IS TOO HOT FOR THIS STREAM.”

“I swear, is this a gaming stream or a Sam thirst-fest?”, Felix says as he waits for Sam to get comfortable on the chair next to him.

Jack cackled at the chat’s reaction, leaning back in his chair. “Guys, I told you this would be good. I knew you’d lose your minds when Sam showed up again.”

Felix sat down in his chair, shaking his head with a smile. “Okay, okay, calm down, you thirsty animals. We’re actually gonna play some games. Sam, grab a controller. You owe me after that airport fiasco.”

Sam grabbed a controller, looking completely nonchalant. “Yeah, sure, I’ll beat you again.”

The chat erupted again:

User 133: “YESSS SAM AND FELIX GAME NIGHT!”

User 134: “THIS IS WHAT WE NEEDED!”

User 135: “More Sam pls. Just keep him on the screen.”

User 136: “Jack is all of us right now, just sitting back watching the chaos.”

User 137: “Sam and Felix together are the chaotic duo we didn’t know we needed.”

As the stream continued, Felix, Jack, and Sam settled into the flow of things. Sam, still wearing a long-sleeved shirt that hugged his shoulders and arms, sat casually beside Felix, PS4 controller in his hands.

Jack glanced over at Sam and raised an eyebrow. “Dude, why are you wearing long sleeves? It’s not that cold over there.”

Sam smirked. “It’s not fair. It’s hot in Australia, and now it feels like the UK is trying to make me freeze to death.”

The chat burst into reactions:

User 138: “LONG SLEEVES????? Sam, why??”

User 139: “Why cover up the guns???”

User 140: “Felix, this is a crime, make Sam take that shirt off!”

User 141: “He’s hot no matter what he wears, tbh.”

User 142: “Sam’s biceps can break through that fabric, I believe it.”

User 143: “Felix amp up the heating in your place so Sam can be comfortable without his shit. No other ulterior motives from me, I swear.”

Jack chuckled at the chat’s responses but didn’t stop teasing. “Yeah, Sam, why the long sleeves? We all know you just came from the sun. You must've gotten a nice colour underneath those sleeves.”

Felix laughed, but then paused as he read a particular comment out loud. “How does Sam not look jet-lagged or tired at all? That’s literally god-tier.”

Jack laughed even harder. “Right?! You’d expect someone flying in from Australia to be dead on their feet.”

But Sam leaned back with a grin. “It’s easy when Max drops you off basically at your doorstep in a private plane.”

The chat exploded:

User 144: “WHAT???”

User 145: “Max?? Like Max Verstappen??”

User 146: “SAM TRAVELS WITH AIRMAX???”

User 147: “YOU KNOW MAX??”

User 148: “PEWDIEPIE’S BROTHER IS BESTIES WITH MAX VERSTAPPEN, WHAT???”

User 149: “Absolute pleasure watching new people find out that Pewdiepie's brother knows and works with Max Verstappen.”

Jack blinked, looking baffled. “Wait, what? That makes no sense. Max lives in Monaco, doesn’t he?”

Sam shrugged, completely relaxed. “Yeah, but Max gave a ride to Christian and a few other mechanics so he had to drop them off at Milton Keynes. So, they dropped me off at Heathrow and then went of to Luton for the factory. Most of the mechanics live closer to the factory.”

Felix just shook his head in disbelief as the chat continued to freak out:

User 150: “OMG MAX AND SAM FRIENDSHIP CONFIRMED???”

User 151: “The AirMax dropped off Sam, holy—”

User 152: “I’m dying, what is this? Casual flexing??”

User 153: “Imagine being so close with Max freaking Verstappen that he’s just like, ‘Hey, need a lift?’”

User 154: “The way Sam says it like it’s nothing 😂.”

Jack stared at Sam for a second, then burst into laughter. “Okay, that’s just not fair. Felix, your brother is living a whole different life.”

Felix threw his hands up. “Hey, don’t look at me!”

The chat continued to erupt in comments:

User 155: “The chaos of this stream is unmatched.”

User 156: “Pewdiepie’s brother is casually living the Formula 1 girly's dream.”

User 157: “Felix being confused is killing me lol”

User 158: “Sam is just the coolest dude. Like, how?”

Sam smirked and grabbed his controller. “Alright, alright, enough about private planes and F1. Let’s play some games, yeah? I have a few days off and I'm not spending them talking about work.”

And just like that, the stream returned to its chaotic normalcy, with Felix, Jack, and Sam diving into their gaming session, the chat still buzzing with excitement over the latest Sam Kjellberg revelation.

Felix rolled his eyes, pulling the game up on screen. “Okay, chat, let’s focus on the games now. No more thirsting over Sam.”

Of course, the chat didn’t listen:

User 159: “Focusing on the game is impossible when Sam is here, Felix, come on.”

User 160: “Sam could just sit there and we’d be entertained.”

User 161: “The internet’s crush is back and Felix expects us to focus? Yeah, okay.”

User 162: “Is it just me, or did Sam get even more ripped?”

Jack was laughing so hard, he had tears in his eyes. “Felix, your chat is just done for. You should’ve known this would happen when you brought Sam back on.”

Felix shook his head but couldn’t help but laugh along with Jack. “Yeah, well, now you’re stuck with him. Let’s just hope he doesn’t crush me like last time.”

The chaos of the chat continued, the excitement surrounding Sam’s return impossible to calm down, as Felix, Jack, and Sam settled into the gaming session.

As you may have seen I'm selling some of my handspun yarn, along with some fleece, batts, rolags, and other odds and ends. I'm really short on rent this month, largely due to having so many flare up days that working was almost impossible. So, I'm selling some of my work in the hopes that I can still make rent somehow. I need over $500.

YARNS (please ignore the slips of paper, ive given everything a nice label now)

A: 572 yards/ 480 meters. 5.75 oz/ 165 grams. 2 ply, approximately DK weight. Silk and merino blend assembled by myself. There are stripes of different greens which are arranged to be bigger at one end than the other, so a triangle shawl (working from the correct end of yarn) will have stripes that are more or less even instead of getting thicker near the narrow end of the shawl. I don't know how noticeable the effect will be, though. Silky soft and shines beautifully in the sun. $100 USD or best offer.

B: 175 yards/160 meters. 2 oz/ 57 grams. 2 ply, light fingering weight to sport weight. Luxury blend of alpaca, cormo, debouillet, silk, silk noil, angora, and cashmere. Very textured due to how I plied it and some noils, but also extremely soft and with lovely drape. Next to skin soft. $60 USD or best offer. SOLD

C: 176 yards/160 meters. 2.25 oz/64 grams. 2 ply, light worsted. Merino, silk, silk noil, angora, and mystery wool blend. Next to skin soft, lots of different colors, and good drape. $50 USD or best offer. SOLD

D: 152 yards/130 meters. 2 oz/57 grams. 3 ply, light worsted. Cormo, alpaca, and merino blend. This yarn was arranged into a stripey gradient--white stripes separating a light purple to dark purple gradient. 3 ply. Incredibly soft--would be perfect for a hat or cowl. $55 USD or best offer.

E: 100 yards/91 meters. 2.5 oz/71 grams. Traditional 3 ply, aran/bulky weight. Romney 3 ply. Durable, squishy, and warm, but not particularly soft. Would make a great hat or gloves. $35 USD or best offer SOLD

F: 140 yards/128 meters. 1.75 oz/50 grams. Traditional 3 ply, fingering weight. Beautiful BFL yarn in autumn colors. Due to the traditional 3 ply the colors constantly shift and change. Very soft and with good drape. $45 USD or best offer. SOLD

G: 325 yards/300 meters. 4 oz/115 grams. 2 ply, fingering weight. Wool, silk, silk noil, alpaca, and Angelina blend. Very textured but soft and drapey. $80 USD or best offer.

H: 166 yards/145 meters. 2 oz/57 grams. 2 ply worsted weight. Targhee, BFL, Angelina blend. Incredibly soft and drapey. Fuzzy and lightly underplied for maximum softness (so a little delicate). Next to skin quality. $45 USD or best offer.

(I'll accept the highest offer I get in a timely manner, so if you really want something and think other people also want to buy it, you can offer more to potentially guarantee you get it. Or offer less, and get it for cheaper if nobody else wants it. Although I wont accept very low offers, sorry.)

BATTS AND ROLAGS. These all contain several large handfuls of milkweed floss, because why not. Very fun and soft to spin.

A. 0.75 oz/21 grams. Romney, BFL, silk, bamboo, Targhee, milkweed floss. Somewhat soft, would be very soft if plied with a fine fiber. Lots of purples and blues, with small amounts of rainbow. Should yield a heathered, smooth yarn except for bumps of milkweed floss. $15 USD or best offer. SOLD

B. 0.75 ounces/21 grams. Naturally dyed Shetland combing waste (yellow), BFL, silk merino, milkweed floss. Many different colors arranged in stripes--yellow and blue primarily. Should yield a textured yarn due to the combing waste, but also lofty and colorful. Fairly soft and very squishy. $15 USD or best offer.

C: 0.5 oz/14 grams. Tussah silk, BFL, merino, merino combing waste, milkweed floss. Very soft. Majority tussah silk which is charcoal black. The other colors are dark purple, a few streaks of red, and the shining white from the milkweed floss. Should spin up to a fine and soft yarn. I am also able to make more of these, which would be the same weight and price and matching the original as closely as possible. Let me know if you want several. $12 USD or best offer. SOLD -- but i can make more, if youre interested !

D: 0.5 oz/14 grams. Merino combing waste, merino, BFL, silk, milkweed floss. Buttery soft. Mostly dark brown with purple, blue, and white streaks. I can make several identical ones if desired, for the same price each. $12 USD or best offer. SOLD -- but i can more, if you're interested !

E: 0.5 oz/14 grams. BFL merino, mystery wool and milkweed floss blend. This has stripes of purple and blue, suspended a squishy mystery combing waste. Should yield a fine but squishy yarn. $10 USD or best offer. SOLD

If I sell all or most of these I will make some more !

FLEECE. I am selling by the ounce (28 grams). I'm also willing to process these into fluffy hand carded rolags or fine hand combed top as desired, which will cost extra depending on how difficult the fiber is to process.

A. Jacob lambswool. Very soft but lots of large vm (so, easy to pick out) and nepps/noils. Those will stay in the fiber unless combed, so this tends to produce a very soft, bumpy yarn. I love this fleece but I just can't seem to use it up. Primarily dark brown, but I also have some white and mixed as well. I have about 8 ounces. Washed but still a tiny bit greasy (just to my preference). $3 an ounce.

B: Rambouillet. I have almost a pound of this stuff. Incredibly buttery soft. Like touching seafoam. But it has a ton of fine VM, so it can only be cleaned either lock by lock on hand cards or combed. I am willing to clean it for you. Takes a long time to get into a spinnable state but it is SO worth it. $2 an ounce. SOLD

C: Breed unknown. Some sections are salmon pink, others closer to hot pink. Not much vm, can be combed open lock by lock on hand cards or combed into top. Yields a silky, strong, hairy yarn. Willing to process for you (this would be one of the cheaper ones to do, it's very easy). I have 5 ounces. $2 an ounce. SOLD

D & E: These are both rya lambswool, naturally dyed with yellow onion skin (the bright yellow one with alum, the copper one with copper). Very soft and silky, spins up to a surprisingly robust yarn. Absolute treat to work with. Some vm but the nature of this fleece causes the vm to fall out pretty easily. I have about a pound total. Will process for you. Washed and dyed by myself. $5 an ounce. D IS SOLD, E IS STILL AVAILABLE

F: Sunshine Shetland. Very soft and fine. Naturally dyed, again with onion skins. The tips are somewhat felted and need to be pulled off, which is quick and easy. If combed lock by lock and then spun that way you can get a subtle gradient of orange to yellow with each lock... absolutely gorgeous. Will process for you. I have about 10 ounces. Washed and dyed by myself. $5 per ounce. SOLD

G: Red Hampshire. Not neon red like in the picture, more of a brick red. Very soft and foamy. Some vm. Easy to process on hand cards by combing lock by lock or turning into a rolag. Washed and dyed (using food coloring) by myself. I only have an ounce and a quarter--which is $6 for all of it. SOLD

COMBING WASTE GRAB BAGS

These are 1 ounce bags of primarily combing waste (so, short fibers and likely some vm) along with other interesting scrap such as mohair locks, colorful merino, and sometimes the occasional single rolag. Lots of the colors are naturally dyed by myself. Great for turning into rolags or using for batt fodder. These are $5 USD if you're buying more than one item (that could be yarn, another grab bag, some fleece, etc) or $10 USD each if you are only buying a single grab bag.

SPINDLES

Lastly, I'm also selling some spindles. A-C are whittled and decorated by myself. D is a beautiful Dealgan which I never could figure out how to use.

A. Supported spindle carved from a fruit tree. I gave it a steeple shape, which does make it slow to spin with. Really enjoyable for special spins that you want to do slowly and thoughtfully. Small spindle, about the length of my hand. $55 USD or best offer.

B. Onion dome supported spindle. Very light for its size, so it can hold a decent cop on it. Small spindle--about the length of my hand. $50 USD or best offer. SOLD ! thank you 🩵🩵🩵

C: Larch spindle. This one has lots of beautiful spalting, as well as being woodburned. Also the length of my hand. Has a very distinct feel to it, sort of in an alive way. $90 USD or best offer.

D: Lightning Dealgan. I got it for $50 and it's basically unused, so reselling for $50 USD. Very heavy and smooth.

Hi I'm here with a nice and comprehensive guide on how to convert binary :)

This is inspired by @the-art-ghost and his story and @just-a-domesticated-cryptid and their posts about the Caesar cipher codes :)

So I had to learn about binary for school back in middle school, so I can explain how to do this pretty easily AND WITH PICTURES :)

Nerd blurb under the cut ^^

So binary is a computer language made up of an eight-number string of 1s and 0s. The value of binary goes from 0-255 bits, with 256 being 1 byte. You read binary from left to right, but the value of each place goes up by times 2 as you go right to left, starting at 1 (00000001) and ending at 128 (1000000).

In order to convert binary into something readable like letters, you need to translate it first into something easier to remember other than a long string of 1/0. For this we're going to use the ASCII index.

The ASCII index is another computer language that assigns numerical values to things like of course numbers and letters but also symbols. Every ASCII value is unique to the letter/number/symbol.

Anyways, so first to translate it into ASCII, you need to be able to read the number. Here's an example:

01001101 is simple enough. There is a 1 in the second, fifth, sixth, and eighth place. That means you add 64+8+4+1 together, which comes out to 77.

NOTE: If your binary string ends with a ONE in the eighth place, it is ODD. If it ends with a ZERO, it is EVEN.

After giving your binary string it's numerical value, you then have to look up the ASCII index value for that number to get it's letter/symbol associated with it.

The ASCII index divides the alphabet into two separate versions: the UPPERCASE alphabet and the lowercase alphabet.

UPPERCASE on the index is numbers 65-90, and lowercase is numbers 97-122.

Using the example from before, 01001101 has 77 as it's value, on the ASCII index makes it UPPERCASE M.

01110011 follows the same logic just different numbers. Second, third, fourth, seventh, and eighth all have 1s, which means you add 64+32+16+2+1, which gives you 115. The index says it's a lowercase s.

When making your sentences, you use SPACES to separate words. The space also has its own ASCII value and binary number:

I'm not going to decode the text description where the binary is featured because I find decoding it yourself to be much more rewarding so >_O

I think it’s funny how jace is just standing there like yeah she’s right while Alec is the only one who has any empathy, a heart, common sense, a good sense of mentality, mortality, etc. we’re about 19 minutes in and Alec has finally had enough. this is Alec when he’s done with the rules and done pleasing his family and the clave. THIS IS THE ALEC WE ALL LOVE AND SUPPORT. and it’s really funny that imogen is saying Alec is being clouded by relationships when she promoted jace as the head of institute!!!!!! how was that not personal????? she’s a literal migraine. like grandmother, like grandson

and y’all know the difference between Alec and jace? Alec stood his ground and said no. Jace tried to chip Maia and then clary went off on him and he suddenly changed his mind. Jace needed a lashing from clary while Alec just thought what he was doing was helping the people he cares about and got the Magnus is not happy with you treatment. I personally think from the second this killing shadowhunters thing, majority of Alec knew questioning all downworlders was wrong. he even says how it’s a broad spectrum and he doesn’t look happy. he knew what it took to ask Magnus for his DNA and you could tell the whole time he wasn’t happy to do it- while jace on the other hand doesn’t seem to show much of an issue of taking control and following what imogen wants

Alec knew this was wrong but he thought in a way maybe he was doing the right thing by protecting Magnus and also so used to trying to protect his family by following claves orders. Alec was raised to always follow the clave and be a shadowhunter first. at least Alec stood his ground when he had enough. it’s hard to suddenly change how you were raised and be a better person and what I love about Alec is that he’s always learning

and while I can see that jace is desperate for a family (even though he’s always had Alec and Izzy), he’s willing to do anything to keep it- just like Maia says later on. it’s still insanely fucked because you know chipping downworlders is wrong. if you think you have a revolt now, just wait and see. the shadowhunters have never seen themselves as inferior. they’ve had the control and power. Jace doesn’t understand how that feels. everyone constantly loves and saves him no questions asked. the only time jace didn’t get what he wanted was with clary at first but he’s always gotten everything handed to him and had all the support. I would have really liked to see this turn into an AU episode so shadowhunters could see what the downworlders go through. as Maia said, they don’t know what it takes to get through a day

it seems unfair to me that downworlders got hunted for centuries and are still extremely oppressed. they don’t get an opinion, if they question a shadowhunter now, it’s guaranteed to be locked up. they don’t get to be seated at the clave (in TMI, it doesn’t happen until very later and the fairie treatment is so fucked) like they literally do not have any autonomy. you can kill a downworlder and the clave would turn a blind eye to it but if you kill a shadowhunter, then it’s war

I’m going to pick up at 130 tomorrow and I think that’ll be part 9 and yes we have a ways to go. it used to be not as bad when I would only do Malec stuff but I’m basically posting almost the whole episode and so much happens in these episodes (also I’m extra)

I am in therapy & have been for 5+ years now. It has saved me many times. U deserve love & support & validation & to grow towards ur healthiest self !!!

Background I have struggled w ED on + off past 5 ish years. Have been underweight at multiple points in my life & during this period but only developed an ED during covid.

Ig it’s worth mentioning I am an actor & a dancer, have done pre professional / some professional work and so I take my weight kind of seriously as it rly has to do w my job. Just another reason to take anything I post w a grain of salt (I am disordered !!!! My thoughts & actions r not normal most of the time)

Also want to say that my eventual goal IS to lose & sustain my lw healthily (which i have done before!) That goal is becoming more important as I just moved to the city a yr ago & im feeling settled / ready to amp it up for audition seasons.

Anyway I relapse a lot & honestly keeping a blog helps me to see the patterns in my behavior & has helped me stop doing stupid shit before. Again hoping to eventually get to lw healthily. Sry if this is rambling lmao I’ve been needing to update 🙄🙄

If there was a way to describe what Beatrice was feeling right at this moment was…a mix of desperation and a huge amount of ‘ i should've just stayed home’. The nausea was getting bad, as in,really bad. She had to stop for a moment, close her eyes and inhale as deeply as she could when what she could only explain as a whirlpool in her stomach happened.

She was trying her best to stay calm and focused, because those corpo guys were there and Penny couldn’t kick them out without a reason…which also wasn’t good. The patrons weren’t used to seeing full on suited businessmen sitting on the corner, it wasn’t normal, it wasn’t part of their routine and they kept chuckling or pointing at them.

Maverick was sitting on his usual spot by the bar, eyes moving from the guys to Beatrice who was with her back to him, one of her hands clenching the fridge handle so tight he could see her knuckles turning white with how strong she was clenching it. He knew that Rooster went to the bathroom when he walked inside, telling his uncle to ‘keep an eye on Bea’ since she wasn’t feeling good.

“Kiddo.” he calls, folding his arms and leaning forward when Beatrice was still as a rock, “Bea,Beatrice.”

“Huh?”

“Are you alright- damn kid, you look pale.”

Oh no.

“Oh,um,no,I’m fine.” she smiles weakly, clearing her throat as she turns towards him, “D-Do you need anything,Mav?”

“No,I wanted to check on you,that’s all.” he gestures to his own beer bottle with a small smile, “Brad said you aren’t feeling that good tonight?”

“Uh, yeah,” she wipes a glass with her rag in hopes to keep herself distracted. If she breathed in and out slowly, she could manage it just right. Of course the nausea wasn’t just leaving her body but she was happy there was a way to control it for now, “It’s…nothing really, probably something I ate.” she swallows hard and then gives Pete a nervous smile, “B-But I’m fine!”

“Hm…alright.”

“A-Anyway, um, so what do you uh…think about those guys?” quick, more distraction, “The ones who are hounding the bar?”

Maverick turns his body to where the said group was seated, he stares at them for a long while then chuckles, “They won’t last a month.”

“Really?”

“They can’t handle the heat of owning bars like these.” he smiles, sipping his beer, “It’s not about the money,Bea. It’s the atmosphere. And because people like Penny…and they like you and Shells and Jessie,” he smiles, “Because it’s welcoming, those guys can try but what do they know?”

Beatrice smiles softly, clearing her throat again and looking up when she saw Rooster’s colorful shirt appear by the corner of her eye, she tried to tell him without words that she wasn’t feeling the greatest and maybe they could leave early…but at the same time she felt guilty because she didn’t want to leave Penny and Shells alone in there. Her husband looks up at her when he sits down, his cheeks puffing up and eyes crinkling when he smiled so sweetly at her.

He mouths the ‘you okay?”

And Bea took a while to reply, instead of words she offered him a thumbs up partially hidden by the cup. Rooster obviously didn’t like that, but he didn’t show it too much either, at least not with his body. He arched his brow then nodded towards the front door ‘wanna leave?’

With the same hand she did a left to right motion with her fingers straight, ‘no.not yet’

His left eyebrow rises higher, ‘you sure about that?’ another thumbs up and then an ‘ok’ with her index and thumb. Bradley licked his lips but nodded, relaxing a bit on his seat as he stayed next to Maverick, nursing himself with some water as his uncle smirked at him. It takes a while for Rooster to notice Maverick is looking and once he does, his uncle’s smirk only widens, “What?”

“It’s cute you two have a code of some sort.” he points to Beatrice’s far away form,”It was obvious you two were talking about something but I couldn’t figure out what.”

“Maybe you didn’t have to figure out what it was.” he murmurs while keeping his eyes on the brunette, “It’s couple stuff,Mav.”

“Still pretty cute.”

“Shut up.”

While Bradley and Maverick were busy chuckling to each other, Beatrice could feel beads of sweat rolling down her face because it was getting harder and harder to hold that back. She clenches her hand on the faucet handle as she watches the glass mug fill with the golden liquid, stopping just in time for the foam to reach the top. With an inhale for courage, she slaps on a smile and turns to the patrons waiting for it.

She stays there for a while, only moving when she feels a presence next to her and the wisps of blonde hair she could see over her shoulder showed that her best friend was there. Shells tried to play as if she was helping Beatrice wash the glasses, their shoulders touching.

“Hey, you good?” her friend asks with her brows furrowed, “You look kinda pale.”

Oh,not her too.

“I might need to do a quick bathroom break.” she whispers, setting the dry glasses on the counter, “Cover for me?”

“I will, what do you need me to do?”

“Keep Penny occupied, Rooster is going to come right behind me.” she looks up to check where her boss was, ‘Please?”

“Count on me,babes. Go on,I know how to get her attention.”

Beatrice nods, pulling out her apron and walking out of the bar. Rooster immediately stands straighter, about to follow her only for Beatrice to hold four fingers, meaning to wait until she was away and count to four…if he followed her right now not even Shells’ distraction was going to work on Penny.

Maverick knew something was going on, but he just assumed it was because Beatrice was sick, nothing else and his nephew just worried a lot about her. He brought the bottle to his lips as Rooster tried to follow Beatrice without being too obvious - which wasn’t really easy considering who Rooster was.

But the pilot did follow Bea to the employee’s bathroom, well, to the door. He stopped right in front of it, pressing his ear to the wood and frowning when he heard what was going on inside, “Babe?” he frowns more at another obvious sound,”Gorgeous, you okay?”

“No.” she coughs after saying that “I feel like shit.”

“We should go home,I can talk to Penny.”

“...I can’t leave-”

“You can’t l-Beatrice you are thro-” he keeps his voice down, looking back to the main area then back at the door, “You are throwing up,gorgeous…please, just let me talk to Penny, she’s going to understand.”

“...I…I don’t know…”

“You know she will…please baby,you are not okay.”

“Maybe I-I’ll be okay now. I just threw up anyway.”

Her good heart was going to give him issues one of these days. He sighs, sliding his hands into his pockets as he purses his lips, “....fifteen minutes.”

“Huh?”

“If you feel bad again in fifteen minutes,I’ll carry your pretty ass out of here and back home. I’m serious,babe. You are not going to feel bad the rest of the night and stay here because you want to help…do you think Penny will appreciate knowing that?”

A pause, followed by a sad, “No…”

“Then it’s settles.” he leans his shoulder against the wall and waits until she comes out, “...how do you feel?”

“So-so.” The toilet flushes and is soon followed by the sound of a faucet opening and water hitting the porcelain, “It’s better…I’m okay…”

“Hm.”

“...are you mad?”

Rooster sighs, rubbing his eyes with his finger tips, “I’m worried.” he replies, watching the door open and Beatrice’s head pop out. He pays attention to her face, cupping her cheeks to check on her complexion,”You aren’t that pale anymore…you are flushed, and there’s no sweat clinging to your cheeks…” her skin was a bit damp too, “...baby, you know why I worry.”

She looks down guiltily, holding his hands to her cheeks, “I do…I’m okay Rooster,I promise you that.If I feel worse,we can go home. Okay?”

“Okay.” he leans down to peck her lips, only for Beatrice to touch his lips with her fingers and laugh gently.

“No,Roos.I’m still working…and I’m chewing gum right now, because…well.” his pursed lips curve down onto a frown and he leans back, clearly forgetting that Beatrice was still at the bar for a brief second. His hands also took a while to let her body go, knowing that touching was only allowed when they were out of there and away from Penny’s eyes, “Just a few more minutes.’

“Yeah,well,” he lets her walk out first, “It’s what I’m hoping,gorgeous.”

“I know.” thankfully the way out was not as packed, so she could slip in through the crowd towards the bar again. Rooster sighs, trying to ease his anxieties when he makes his way back, trying to appear casual, sitting back next to Mav who didn’t even look up at him when he sat down.

“Is she okay?”

“Yeah,” Rooster answers when he leans his elbows over the bartop, “Just a stomach bug.” he says softly, still keeping his eyes on Beatrice who was now - unfortunately - serving one of the businessmen. He keeps one of his hands over his mouth to cover it, as he directs a question to Mav, ‘Have they been drinking anything?”

“Each of them asked for something different.” his uncle says, gesturing to the one asking Beatrice for a drink with his pinky, “That one, he didn’t ask for anything though. In fact he was probably waiting until everyone else did.”

“Really?”

“Yep.”

Rooster didn’t like the smile he was throwing Beatrice, nor the way he appeared relaxed. He just watched with his eyes slightly narrowed, trying to hear what the conversation was and thinking that as soon as seat vacated next to the guy he was coming closer.

Beatrice, however, was just being her polite self towards the man, asking him what he wanted and whatnot. He wasn’t…bad looking, but he clearly wasn’t her husband. He did work out and he had some facial hair albeit it was much of a trimmed beard than a mustache “Here,” she says as she places the beer bottle in front of him, trying to appear neutral towards this…businessman. “Anything else?”

‘Oh, no,no. You are a very good bartender.”

“Thank you.”

“Yes, you’ve been here long?”

Beatrice inhaled softly, then nodded, “Mhm.”

“And…do you get paid well?”

“That doesn’t concern you.” she smiles curtly, “Now if you are done, there are more people behind you, so,” she nods away from the bar so he could take the hint and leave. But he just smiled, bringing the beer to his lips.

“Just saying, you might get new opportunities.”

“Just saying, I don’t care.” she snaps, now narrowing her eyes and furrowing her brows, “You should go back to your seat.”

“Ooohh, you got a bite to you, don’t ya?”

“I do, but my husband bites harder.”

“Husband?” he laughs, “And does he allow you to work here?” allow her??

“I don’t know, you can ask him- Roos!”

There’s the sound of a stool dragging on the floor and the heavy steps of a very unamused and tall pilot, his shadow casting over the seating man because everyone parted like the red sea so he could get closer. The businessman clearly wasn’t expecting that, but he tried to play casual- and not scared - when he noticed Rooster. “What’s happening,gorgeous?”

“He asked if you allowed me to work here.” she points to the man without any fear in her eyes, “So I thought you could answer him better than me,since I’m not feeling great.” her back turned to the man so she could focus on anyone else but that group. Rooster, who clearly didn’t like how he acted towards Beatrice, just leaned on his elbow to be at eye level with the man.

The suited man just refused to meet his eyes, and tried to slip away towards the table where everyone else was. But Rooster held his shoulder and then shouted, “Penny!” the owner turns towards him, “This guy was bothering Bea.” the look of pure raw delight on Penny was amazing, she even stopped what she was doing to approach them.

She smiles while leaning her weight on her hands, keeping her blue eyes on the group of corpo guys with her body relaxed, “Really?” she hums, “Hey, do you want to know how to have a bar like this? It starts with respecting my employees.”

“I wasn’t bothering her,I–”

“He asked if I was paid enough here.”Bea said in passing, holding a tray up, “And he asked if Roos allowed me to work here.”

“As if you are just a piece of meat, oh, tsk tsk, see.” Penny leans on her elbows now, interlacing her fingers over the counter,”Here on the Hard Deck, we do things differently, we respect the ones who walk through those doors…and those who respect us. Now,Bea,” she turns to the brunette when she returns, “Would you like to tell this man what happens when someone bothers one of the servers?”

“You have to pay for the entire bar.” she ends it with an innocent shrug, “And from what I’ve seen…there’s seventy-eight people,right now…so. Oh- no card either. Has to be cash.” and it was obvious the man was furious but he couldn’t do anything with Rooster holding his shoulder.

He grumbled and cursed all the way back to their table. Rooster kept his eyes on the man who dared to glare over at Beatrice, “Keep your eyes to yourself,bud,” he points to his own eyes, then back at him, “Don’t look at my wife. You hear me?”

“Yeah don’t look at the Miss!”

“Thank you Faraday, now go back to your seat and stop eavesdropping.” the young recruit, who was just close by, saluted him and walked all the way back to his table - not before doing the ‘i see you’ movement with his hands towards the group who was looking defeated and clearly annoyed by what happened.

Beatrice smiles after talking to Penny, holding her bag on her shoulder and gently poking his arm to get his attention, “Roos,I’m ready.”

He smiles, pushing himself to his feet and walking around the bar to grab her hand, “Alright, you good?” she nods, “Great,we’ll go back home and I’ll pamper you like you deserve to be pampered.”

“Tempting.” she says once she waves everyone goodbye, “But I just want to take a bath and drink some hot cocoa, that’s all…can you do that?”

“Can I do that? Gorgeous-” he kisses her forehead, “Don’t you know me?”
