do you recommend learning French
if you want to, go for it! it'll be tough because of the phonetics being a bit all over the place so i recommend you watch shows or something to get an idea of how words are pronounced vs how they're written.
like if you've watched over the garden wall a million times and remember the dialogue word for word you can try watching the french dub with french subtitles on(make sure they do match the audio and aren't the sub for the og audio, pick the audio description option that should match the dub, if there isn't any just go without or else it won't match at all and be way too confusing) and see if you can understand what's going. or just start with french audio and whichever subtitles you do understand first, whichever is easier. (it doesn't have to otgw but it was my first show i've watched without subtitles when it came out so that was my first thought!)
i don't know of any place where you can learn it tho, duolingo fired their staff for ai and wasn't all that great to begin with but whatever helps go for it! and if it sucks hit da brick, takes breaks and all that.
#i learned some base of english in school then started reading english fantrad for my fav manga when the french ones took too long.#then i watched spn and joined this fucking place lmao. i had french subtitles for it tho then i started watching lots of cartoons without#subtitles. took me many watches to get all the subtleties and jokes ect but it was v fun rediscovering the shows each time and going 'how#could have missed this??!' i also watched a normal amount of markiplier lets play since he used to have subtitles on. learned the word#'convenient' thanks to him lol he used to say it a lot.#what im saying is to learn a language you've got to immerse yourself in it but you also need the base to do so first.#i think pre spn i was around 6/20 in english and after spn i went all the way to 17/20. can't hate the show no matter what because of that.

an absolute wave of homesickness for Doctor Who (2005) series 1-2 just about knocks me over at the quietest moments of my little life
#it was such a specific time. I was just a kiddo#still living with my parents with a giant bedroom downstairs all to myself#it used to be a hair studio or something for whoever lived there before us. and I had this massive room with a table to draw and write at#and a tiny twin bed and I used to set up a projector against the opposite wall and hook it up to my laptop and watch DW to fall asleep#enthralled. couldn't believe the show I'd found. couldn't believe how much I loved Rose and loved the Doctor#you could not drag me away from it. I could not stop talking about it or thinking about it. Matt Smith had just become the Doctor and I-#-had so much content left to consume. and everything was simple. I didn't have a job at the time and every day was creativity#I used to write so much I'd forget to eat. and Doctor Who was the background music of my life back then#I miss winter nights swearing I'd only watch one more episode before I went to bed. all by myself. my family hadn't discovered the show yet#in that small single bed with four blankets and Doctor Who on the wall. drooling over timepetals and pausing and rewinding constantly#that time of my life was so safe and so secure and my imagination was so hungry and DW was feeding it and it was my first time seeing it#I miss that. i think elden ring will always be my favorite game in terms of environment. every area is so impressive, even the copy-paste stuff manages to be impressive with atmosphere, and the amount of just. stunning-looking locations is wild especially with how natural even the most amazing looking shot you can find is.
just the fact that you unavoidably see this when you walk into leyndell is incredible. one of my favorite environment views in all of the games ive ever played
#you can walk on the dragon. you can find your way through the city and climb up onto the dragon to reach other areas#i love this. it doesnt just look fucking cool but its a tangible part of the world and you can go and interact with it#elden ring#salty talks#i just. the music paired with the masterful fucking angle you get of this when you enter leyndell proper.#its so cool im so obsessed with this i wonder was it was like when they got this right in development#this game is so visually incredible even the nasty ass fungal infected diseased caelid is really pretty#like???? i need to know how that shit happened. this is the biggest like. man i need to know what caused this.#idk if the screenshot is all that great i spent a while playing with the angle and where my character was standing#i dont think i couldve gotten my character out of frame and i wanted the walls on either side#to kinda show how you see this while leaving through a hallway. you literally cant miss this if you go in leyndell the normal way#i found the warp chest you can only see the top of the dragon's wing from where the warp chest puts you#anyways seeing this for the first time practically had me frothing at the mouth the environment design in this game fucks.#even the poison swamps
