Hey I’m the Louis promo anon and I actually think he may still have some contractual obligations to his team. Or maybe he’s just staying with them to avoid the headache atm, since he’s working on the album BTS(and his vocals and even the future management company) and doesn’t need the promo desperately RIGHT NOW. But also if his team wasn’t so shit his numbers would be at least double what they are in terms of impact and streams. If actual garbage music can sell more so can he, even if walls isn’t an album made to be #1 pop album of the year(and that’s ok ffs I’m an alternative fan so that’s the type of music I like anyways, I’m sure others agree).

We know he wanted to launch music in 2018 but something cough Simon cough xfactor got in the way. I just don’t understand why they’d drag him down with walls by literally doing nothing cus NOTHING IS NOTHING. Even musicians/producers who react to his stuff say it’s solid enough for a certain market(Blake maclain loved it, for one, and he’s into that style of music), and all my friends who’ve heard walls loved it(I’m 18, target demographic perhaps, but also my one picky ass friend said it’s good so wtf it’s just a solid album I just choose to ignore perfect now), so I just don’t get why they didn’t at least make an effort to appeal to the alternative/niche audience through radios or other tactics. Louis could’ve made them more money if they just put in 10% effort rather than 1% and it’s clear that whatever went down was complex and personal. I do disagree harrys got anything to do with it honestly(directly at least) but yeah the 1d hunger games and them thinking at least one member must flop probably has everything to do with it(at least after 2017 when 4/5 were thriving commercially). Thankfully he has enough of a fan base to do better with the next album but lord I pray LTHQ get fired the second Lt2 is announced bc I’m tired and my fav being called floplinson left and right is annoying asf when a big reason he’s this “unknown” is the lack of promo. Have a nice day darling 💙💛

Who knows why Matt (the bad Matt) and Miss Jesobel are still around. But nobody who works as hard as Louis does likes to be surrounded by idiots. The promo before and after AFHF was... non-existent and I've said it before but I can't believe Louis would create a whole festival (that's free for fans, so that cost him money) and be OK with no one talking about it outside of his established fanbase. Not to mention we never had the ticket sale information for the livestream event.

Anyways. "It is what it is".

Let's see what LT2 brings in term of visibility, as a serious solo artist who makes good music that goes beyond the post-boyband fans profiles.

Lmao well, you haven’t missed out on anything really, because that’s just what’s been frustrating everyone for the past few years. Ever since Hunger Games wrapped, Josh has kind of…dropped off the radar. I’ve said this a few times, but I was expecting him to take off running with THG’s fame and attention. I was hoping that he would use the energy he got from that franchise and send himself upwards onto bigger and better things. I think that was the general consensus with the fandom actually. Everyone just wanted to see him SUCCEED, gdit.

Like, we all knew good and well that he could create Award Season worthy work. We knew perfectly well that he was talented, and at the time of THG, he definitely seemed to have the drive, the energy, and the passion for his craft. So we were all rubbing our hands in anticipation like yaaas, where is this LITTLE LOVABLE DANDELION GOING TO GO NEXT. COME TOGETHER. GET YOURSELF AN ACADEMY AWARD SIR.

…Buuutttt instead, he went in the complete opposite direction??? Instead of getting more roles and getting himself out there, he seemed to like, take numerous steps back? His attention turned to smaller projects, and the amount of projects he was accepting definitely took a dive as well. Like, look at his IMDb page. From 2008 to about 2013-2014ish, he was a FIREBALL. 2012 especially man. That seemed to be a hoppin’ year for THG cast members honestly.

Now though? It has tapered off severely. The only really creditable thing after MJ2 is Futureman; everything else is either a very small role, or something that had a very limited release, or something that will never see the light of day. So that’s just it really. The ONLY thing he’s really done after THG is Futureman.

Soooo that’s got his fans a bit ANGERY lmao. Personally, I had expected him to take a break after MJ, but only for like a year or so, man. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt for the longest time. Like okay, he’s in his twenties, maybe he just needs a breather. But then…IT NEVER STOPPED LOL? I was like…if he stretches this any longer, he’ll lose that good THG momentum. Annndd here we are coming into 2019 and he’s just…pretty stagnant.

AND ON TOP OF ALL THIS, he’s being super weird about promoting himself now, and also with how he presents himself. Like, if he was just doing Futureman, but was really passionate about it, energetic, enjoying himself, etc, that might be a different story. If we saw him posting cute pictures to a personal IG, and promo pictures to a work IG? If we saw him being active in GENERAL? It’d be tight.

Buuuuttt nope. The main stuff from him the past few years has been little appearances at parties with his friends, or the usual-

He hasn’t really been giving anyone anything to cling on to, or to get behind him for, or to just…be a FAN of anymore. So this made ME start to back off a little. That, and I’ve been conditioned as a Veteran Joshifer Shipper™ to just ignore anything Spain related lmao….SO UH, THAT MEANS I’VE BEEN BLOCKING OUT/MISSING QUITE A BIT AS WELL.

And in doing so actually, I missed out on something he was doing that was pissing people off even more. I talked to some lovely ladies here in the fandom to get the Inside Scoop, and bypass the Jodi Filters™/talk about the Spain happenings to get the tea lmao. So okay, Josh FINALLY does an interview right. He FINALLY sits down with someone and actually has the opportunity to talk about his work, his projects, his PASSIONS. And instead? He talks about Claudia, and Spain, and everything that he’s been presenting to his fans for the past few years ANYWAY.

That’s why everyone is so pissed with the new podcast that came out. They wanted to hear him actually talk Futureman, actually talk his plans for the future, actually talk about his supposed PASSION. But no, it was predominantly about Claudia. Which like, yay supportive boyfriend whatever. EXCEPT, people didn’t sign up for that. They didn’t want to listen to the podcast for Claudia. They wanted to listen to the podcast for Josh. They’re HIS fans, not hers. They want to hear about HIS work, HIS ideas, HIS happenings on set and what not. 

“Well Jodi,” says the Devil’s Advocate, “What’s wrong with him being a supportive boyfriend? Is he not allowed to talk about his girlfriend?”

Well yeah, sure, except…After getting the tea from people, and realizing how much he’s suddenly focusing on her now, it’s just…weird? I mean, they’ve always been weird lmao. I’ve always felt kind of just…OFF about them, even with the NOTP glasses removed lol.

Here’s the thing; Josh used to be very insistent on keeping his private life just that; PRIVATE. There was the longest time where he didn’t even confirm he was dating Claudia, or even mention anything relating to their relationship. He kept them very private, aside from his trips to Spain of course, while maintaining a presence in the industry and with his fans.

But now it’s seemingly flip-flopped? It’s like, he’s presenting his PRIVATE life 90% of the time, and work related stuff 10%. And of course there’s all sorts of tea regarding her using him for attention, fame, etc, but that’s something I DEFINITELY haven’t looked far enough into to properly discuss. After talking to people though and getting more information, I do find it a bit strange that all of this Talk has seemingly increased now that Claudia has more attention being thrown her way? And don’t even get me started on how he seems to do everything and get nothing back. 

And the strange dynamic they seem to have going on is frustrating people even more. They think he’s being used, or putting all of his eggs in LITERALLY ONE basket. That he’s focusing ENTIRELY on her now, and not his friends, family, career, etc. I mean, he did say on the podcast that his friends were pissed with him for cutting them off when he went to Spain. sooooOOOO IDK MAN IDK, IT’S JUST…SJDKLSJDLS WEIRD.

Regardless of what’s going on, it’s frustrating, frustrating to everyone. It’s almost like the Mutual Disappointment towards Josh has brought people together lmao; I’ve seen people agreeing with each other who used to be on quite opposite sides of the opinion spectrum. 

TL;DR, he’s barely working anymore, nor is he presenting himself well. Anything he does present deals with his girlfriend, or partying, or things he never would have brought to such the limelight a few years back. Maybe it has to do with the fact that he’s not working as much, so the only things he can really show IS his private life. But like...goodness gracious, Joshua; GET BACK OUT THERE THEN.

ME, PERSONALLY, I’ve still got a tiny glimmer of hope for him. After adoring him and following him for so long, I can’t really BRING myself to throw him completely to the side. So I’m going to be just…watching for Actual Things To Get Excited For lmao, and hoping and praying his fiery film spirit that I originally stanned him for will return soon. I want him to get out of all of this SO so bad. I miss the old him, THE Josh Hutcherson. I really do.

Castlevania Final Season Review

The final season of the Castlevania anime as we know it arrives on Netflix. A mere six weeks have passed since the events of season three. Trevor, Sypha, and Allucard grow tired of their current routine, but when vampires threaten to revive Dracula the trio band together one more time to put their old enemy to rest for good.

Castlevania is a 2017 video game anime adaptation of the franchise of the same name. It is produced by Frederator Studios and distributed by Netflix. It releases on Netflix globally on May 13, 2021.

Trevor Belmont and his allies are back for one last battle in Castlevania season four.

As Netflix prepares for the next chapter into their Castlevania adaptation, the current book closes. Trevor & Sypha have been cleaning up the mess left behind from Dracula’s demise. While Allucard is struggling with loneliness and his desire to be more human. Meanwhile, Carmilla is going mad with an endless hunger for power, Isaac has reached an epiphany, Hector wishes for atonement, and big players are attempting to revive Dracula behind the shadows. 

Bear witness to the superb finale of Castlevania’s first anime run.

THE GOOD: Season four begins six weeks after the events of the previous season. Trevor and Sypha have been traveling the country cleaning up what’s left of Dracula’s loyalist. They’re grown tired and wary of the endless fighting barely getting any sleep. Allucard has become a shell of himself following the twins’ betrayal. At the same time he wants to maintain his humanity without feeding into his vampiric urges. Saint Germain has become obsessed with reuniting with his former love, so much so that he’s willingly turning his back on all that he believes in.

Carmilla is spreading her forces across Europa in an attempt to gain total control, but her sisters have begun searching for an escape. Isaac has abandoning his quest for revenge in favor of being free. And Hector still shackled by his betrayal wants to atone believing Isaac is coming for him. There’s plenty of threads from the last four seasons that are finally coming to a close in this season and it does so beautifully. As if you hadn’t noticed already I’m being light with major spoilers for this one. It deserves your uninterrupted or slighted attention. 

Castlevania has character development up the yin-yang.

So where exactly do I even begin? If you’ve been following the series from the beginning then you’ll know what to expect. However, season four does so much to surpass it’s previous installments that I think people will be stunned by the quality. It’s a genuinely superb divide from seasons 1-3 and I don’t say that lightly. The animation and action are some of the best I’ve ever seen in American animation. The storytelling is as alluring as ever, but my favorite part of season four is the character development.

Holy shit, not even kidding when I say that season four had so much development for nearly a dozen plus characters. It’s almost a miracle they were able to pull off what they were within ten episodes. Literally everyone matters in some regard. From Trevor, Sypha, and Allucard to Carmilla, Germain, Hector, and Isaac. Everyone has their own goals and individual desires. For every how there’s a why and every rhyme there’s a reason. It really showcases the amount of love, passion, and respect that the producers and showrunners have for the IP. And it’s a damn shame that there are so many others who get a hold of these video game IP that they’d rather say “let’s do this but 100% different!” so much so to the point where it completely bastardizes the work in question. 

Castlevania doesn’t do that at all. It’s not afraid to be original to itself, but it also never forgets where it came from. I may be getting a tad emotional, but this is a rather important IP to me personally. And I’m sick to death of some people in Hollywood not giving video game adaptations and their fans proper respect. So forgive me for finding Castlevania as a breath of fresh air in that space. I’ve been involved with gaming since I was about six years old and I feel I can realistically say that this series will probably be the hardest video game adaptation to surpass in overall quality ever.

THE BAD: If I had to say anything bad about Castlevania it’s that this version of the series is saying goodbye. As most of us know a spinoff is on the way with new characters likely adapting different storylines and titles. So bidding Trevor, Sypha, and Allucard farewell is gonna be a bit of a tough one the promo material for that rolls out.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: The final season of Castlevania is perhaps the most complete video game adaptation out today. Packed with action, gore, and character development that would make it’s source material scream with glee. The finale never misses a beat, but the worst part is it leaves you wanting more for the current incarnation. Otaku Dome gives Castlevania season four a 100 out of 100.

Honestly this is why whenever ppl say "YA novels are bad", i feel the need to set it straight that The Hunger Games are different. You're right on everything. I would like to add on the love interest, i personally feel like the promotion of the movie, trying to push another edward vs jacob, really missed the point (that and the so very ironic "Capitol Couture" covergirl line). There's a reason my favorite promotional content is Mockingjay Part 1. Bc the promo for that movie was on point with how the books were. And back to the "love triangle", my twin sister thought that gale vs peeta was a thing (she hadn't read the books before watching the movies, i did). And i had to explain to her that it's not a love triangle. And Katniss isn't even interested in romance. Her most meaningful relationships are friendships. She only ended up with Peeta bc of her PTSD and he was the only one that understood that. The Hunger Games trilogy is so well written i still cry reading it.

In honour of the recent release of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, let me just drop some thoughts about Hunger Games.

I’ve been reading a lot of reviews lately, and one thing they all seem to have in common is that most people loved The Hunger Games itself, but lost interest after the actual “games” portion of the novels disappeared. That the complicated politics got boring and the propos were so fake and the love triangle was unsatifisying and out of place amid all this war; that Katniss acted like a puppet in Mockingjay—I’ve seen people complain about how present her PTSD is and how it’s confusing to read; about how everything she did was for show; I’ve even seen her compared to Bella Swan. And I’m here to tell you that all that is the point.

So many authors have tried to replicate what Suzanne Collins did with Hunger Games—she created an entire YA subgenre. But nothing’s gotten it right. Why? Why do so many people love The Hunger Games, but drop the sequels as “boring” and “fake”? Why do so many authors trying to replicate Hunger Games’ sensationalism go off the rails in their third installment? (Looking at you for that one, Divergent.)

To put it simply: politics.

Gonna get a bit English student/history major-ish here, but Suzanne Collins’ writing of the political climate and power struggle in Hunger Games is absolutely fantastic. In Mockingjay particularly, Collins presents a fascinating commentary on authoritarianism through contrasting President Coin with President Snow, showing the former to be—true to her name—just another side of the same coin as Panem’s dictator. If you’d like, connections can certainly be drawn to specific political parties, with Snow, of course, being your far-right fascist, and Coin your far-left communist, but Collins’ message in this commentary isn’t centered on labels like that. In a way, her handling of the issue reminds me of George Orwell’s 1984, with the Party never being specified as leftist or rightist, just totalitarian. The message is the same: whether communist, fascist, far-left, far-right, whatever you want to call yourself—totalitarianism is bad, kids. Authoritarianism is bad. Remember, the political spectrum isn’t a line, it’s a circle—and it all comes down to dictatorships and tyrannical rulers.

And that’s where everyone goes wrong, readers and authors alike. Because Suzanne Collins does what the media does: hides it under all these layers of drama, intrigue, bloodbaths, horror, love triangles, until the politics get all blurry. That’s art imitating life, right there.

Gonna drag poor Divergent along for sec, because it reminded me of The Hunger Games, in a lot of ways. Dystopian YA with some really nice commentary on society. Loved the first book; I still go back and reread it, and while lacking in certain qualities, what novel isn’t? But Roth lost that thread in the conclusion, because I feel, like so many others, she fell into Collins’ trap about what makes Hunger Games so good. The drama. The love triangle. The horror. The bloody, shocking plot twist. Not politics.

Let’s unpack the rest of it, here, too:

The love triangle is supposed to feel fake and out of place, because it is. (I mean, I’d argue there isn’t even a real love triangle, but that’s a whole other debate I’ll bring up again sometime.) It’s a fabrication used by those in power throughout the novel to distract from the Capitol’s crimes, and the fact real people fixate on it in Hunger Games to this is extent means Collins’ commentary on the issue is entirely correct. And similarly, this sort of media war District 13 and the Capital have in Mockingjay, with Katniss doing propos and Peeta being tortured into interviews—yes, it is fake. It’s propaganda; that’s the whole point.

As for Katniss acting like a puppet, I’d argue that as illustrated by a notable plot twist near the end of the novel (and numerous events throughout, on that note), Katniss was acting and thinking independently. I’d also take care to point out that Katniss is seventeen years old and deeply traumatized. One of the things I love about YA are the young, teenaged protagonists doing incredible things, and living through impossible horrors—but I’ll be the first to admit sometimes it gets unrealistic. Collins takes a more realistic approach. Katniss has PTSD; Collins writes this. Katniss has been used as a puppet by the rebellion so long, can she even consider not acting as their figurehead; Collins discusses this. Katniss is a seventeen-year-old whose main concern is protecting the people she loves, one of whom is Peeta; Collins writes her actions to reflect this. Just because Katniss doesn’t go full-badass-archer, front-lines-in-the-war-effort like we saw in the actual Games of the first two installments—and have seen many protagonists do in other series—doesn’t mean she’s not fighting back and staying true to herself the whole time.

Again, it’s a different kind of fight, politics.

So my point is, Hunger Games is driven by politics. Suzanne Collins presents some very intelligent points on politics, to a YA audience. And, ten years after she published Mockingjay, she’s back with a novel on the early life and rise of a dictator. So what, pray tell, might she be trying to say?

Ohgosh that NM promo felt so cringy to me! I could see him squirming and being vaguely annoyed with every Loki question. And I was like “dear god can’t y’all think of some PERTINENT TO THE SHOW questions to ask him????” Like really, that was just awful.

I ADORE Tom too and wish he was in more. But, like, I hate to say it but he also rather has shit taste in roles? Like, he MEANS WELL but.... the roles just don’t showcase his talent. Like, in theater he’s great. Epic, and he gets to show off all his range. However, I feel like he makes such BAAAD film/TV choices?

Crimson Peak — flaming garbage; it had potential but needed five more drafts and a better costumer. Also a THEME, it needed a definable theme; not this vague “love makes monsters/beauty is weak” crap it alleged to have (both of which were abysmally handled).

I Saw The Light — bad; poorly written and didn’t really highlight anything meaningful or try to make a point or try to showcase the music at all. Like, most of the songs are sung from midway/last verses and we got maybe three songs full-ways? It had a good basis but was weak and about as sterile as a Wikipedia page. Never really showed Hank writing songs, or possibly how he derived inspiration for them; just him boozing and womanizing and getting high and being a boring sod. Which... Wikipedia tells more succinctly and in less time.

Kong: Skull Island — bad. His whole character had zero purpose/reason for being there aside from eye candy and looking at Brie Larson’s Mason Weaver with Forlorn, Brooding Heart Eyes. He was the tracker who never tracked and the guide who got lost. Twice. “Maybe it’s around that bend”/“should be that direction”. Also he TOTALLY MISSED the signs that there were natives in that spot in the jungle until they were attacked???? Like, he must’ve been a shit SAS with those lackluster skillz so no wonder he quit.

The Night Manager — almost good but still sucked compared to the novel. Like, REALLY SUCKED. I’m still furious about that. Totally butchered Jonathan and Jed and Sophie’s characters imo. Then again the novel is a masterpiece and the internal narrative stuff doesn’t transfer to screen well. Aside: I’m shamed that nobody taught him to hold guns like a competent ex-military man. Just *facepalm* he looked so awkwaaaaaard several times.

High Rise — that was maybe halfways to near-decent? Still it’s shitty because not everyone wants to watch that, and dystopian “human depravity/live like beasts” had been done to death by 2013. Like, everyone was watching Hunger Games and Divergent and those weren’t R-rated so the whole family could watch as well. It didn’t really LEND anything to the genre and it wasn’t exactly... lasting, impression-wise.

Unrelated — I watched this ages ago and while it was interesting in many ways it was also Dull As Fluff and I just about fell asleep twelve times while watching it.

Suburban Shootout — I’ve heard this is midways decent but it’s also.... dullish. Unmemorable. Funny moments though.

War Horse — good but he was a secondary/background character so doesn’t technically count, imo.

Cranford — this was good but it had a good script and good directors so he got off well. Also he was in a secondary role, so.... doesn’t really count, again.

Wallander — again it had good foundation and direction and also he was a side/secondary character so doesn’t really count.

Only Lovers Left Alive — good? Also odd? Its like Crimson Peak but better I feel; tighter-knit as far as plot and characterization goes. Also the theme was clear and the plot was properly set up.

Not gonna mention Marvel because those are all fine, decent, or excellent so no comment there.

Like, Hemsworth may have shitty role choices but at least most of them aren’t niche or R-rated. That’s helped him get farther imo; he has more family-friendly stuff so he gets a broader range of offers. Whereas Tom just does weird stuff? Like, he picks stuff that has a character with GREAT potential but it’s either simply not ready to be rolling film or it’s so indie/niche that unless you’re interested in that genre you’ll never see it and never care to.

I feel like Tom has this idea going into a production that he can breathe life into the characters he plays and that’ll make it better; not fully understanding that it will never be good if the directing isn’t great and the script is bad and everyone else has that same script. Because he really tries, and he slams his heart into it all the way to the wire, but it just... he can’t save a film on heart and will alone. There’s more components to it than that. So yeah, he has crummy selection when it comes to his roles. Which, I think, comes from A) a desire to work with something new that presents a challenge, B) to keep from being typecast (never an issue imo; he’s making it hard to cast him period because he doesn’t have enough lead role cred) C) he thinks he can save the film despite its shittiness.

Anyway it’s nearly midnight and my brain can’t think anymore so there’s that word vomit of my weird theories 😂
