Is crazy and he knows it.

He knows he doesn't feel love the way a "normal" person does. He feels obsession. And honestly, he's ok with that! 

You're the first person to take his obsession to this level though. He's never felt anything this strongly. How exciting!

Suguru is the type of yandere to kill your SO and frame your best friend. Fuck all of those who are close to you, he hates them. He wants to be the only shoulder you cry on.

He doesn't try to hide the fact he's kidnapping you either 

You try to leave after spending the night with him ONCE and he's just like "Where do you think you're going Darling?"

You have no rights. You're not leaving his house, with or without him. 

He’s jealous to the point that the thought of another guy even seeing you makes his skin crawl, no you can’t go to walmart!

The scary part is that he knows what he’s doing isn’t ok. He knows it’s not normal, he knows it won’t earn your love. Quite the contrary, he knows it only earns him your ire. But, he doesn’t care.

He just wants to be close to you. He doesn’t need you to love him. If you do get Stockholm Syndrome that's great but it’s not his end goal. 

His end goal is to possess you. Which, he now does! Score! Everything else is just a bonus

All of that being said, as long as you stay in his good graces, he would want you to be comfortable. He doesn’t cherish the thought of you being sad (unless you piss him off) so he does spoil you just a bit.

Like, you’re not getting electronics or anything (beyond maybe a tv) but he would make your favorite foods, or make sure you have a comfy bed and nice clothes ect.

Again, all of that is contingent on you being a good little darling for him. Act out and he has no problem putting you in your place. (he’s not nearly as bad as Sukuna though..)

The term “casually obsessed” comes to mind

It’s little things he does. Like leaning in a little too close when he helps you with something on your computer, or looking a little bit too agitated when you start talking about your new SO.

He’s not going to dirty his own hands to get rid of your other romantic interests. Who do you think he is, Gojo? Nay nay. 

He has other, arguably more violent, ways to make people he doesn’t like go away. Not that you would ever know.

To you Nanami is gentle and kind, if not a little bit over protective. To everyone else, he’s a cold asshole who's not above passive aggressive insults. 

Even when he eventually kidnaps you, he manages to use an injury as an excuse to get you to come stay with him. So he can take care of you! No other reasons, obviously. 

But, even after the injury heals it seems he always has another excuse as to why you can’t go. There’s always another threat, some danger only he can protect you from. 

He talks so rationally and calmly it’s hard to think of anything he says as anything other than fact. You also start to get anxious to leave without him. He’s filled your mind with all the horrible things the world has instore for you, you don’t want to be in the world anymore. That’s when he knows he’s won.

Nanami isn’t going to hurt you, ever. But, he will give you the silent treatment. Or quietly take away your comforts that he’s allowed you. Or, if you really fucked up, threaten to kick you out. And just how long do you think you’ll last without him?

Genuinely Nanami is so good at this whole manipulation thing, he doesn’t have to worry about you trying to escape. Why would you? The world is scary and wants to hurt you. Need proof? Look at your previous injury.

Nanami has made your mind a waking hell where he is the only bastion of hope. A prison where his conjugal visits are the only thing keeping you going. You’re actually more anxious when you can’t see him because what if something happens? He can’t save you.

For this reason alone Nanami is the scariest/most fucked up Yandere here cause HOMIE. HE TOOK YOUR FUCKING MIND AWAY FROM YOU, LIKE, WHAT-

Ryomen Sukuna

Can you hear it, Reader? Can you hear the maniacal laughter? This man is a demon. Literally. 

Sukuna is not as self aware as Geto is, he thinks his obsession is love and he defines love as possession. He needs to own you. The universe would feel deeply wrong and disjointed to him until he has you locked away in his temple with a pretty collar around your neck. I’m so serious. 

The other guys like, wait for a reasonable time to kidnap you, or for a convenient excuse to get you to their house. Ryomen finds that pathetic. The moment he comes to terms with his feelings for you, he’s grabbing you. Doesn’t matter if it's in the middle of the day with 1000 witnesses and you’re kicking and screaming, to the temple with you.

This is probably around the time you find out why your dating life has been so, well…bloody. He’s been slaughtering them. Look! He even used their bones to make a throne for you, just like his! He is so good at this boyfriend thing.

Why was he killing them before he even was fully aware he wanted you? For fun. Duh. What else would he do with his Saturday nights?

Genuinely is a little confused when you don’t love him. Did he fuck up the courting ritual or something? He’s unbothered by it though. He doesn’t need you to love him, right now. You’d learn with time, one way or another. 

I should say Yandere Sukuna als views love as devotion. It’s why he does need you to love him eventually, he needs you to be as devoted to him as he is to you. He’s giving up a lot of himself to be your boyfriend, couldn't you try to be a little more understanding of his feelings in this?

Don’t worry about seeing your family again. He noticed you getting depressed when you started to miss them. So he disposed of them. No, he will not elaborate on what that means. You both already know.

Please please please, don’t piss him off. I’m begging you. Sukuna is not above any form of physical violence to put you in your place. 

That includes leg removal if you try to escape. No I did not say break, I said Removal Ryomen Sukuna does not fuck around. 

At first, you’re going to think he fucking hates you ngl. You’re going to be CONVINCED he only kidnapped you to piss someone else off, not for himself. Because he’s either mean, dismissive, or violent to you. 

It’s not until you’ve been in his possession for a minute and get to know him that you realize “Oh shit, this is his form of love.” When you notice that he doesn’t strike you without reason like he does with literally everyone and anything else. That he actually listens when you talk, no matter how passively. That he treats you like a living thing. A pet, yes, but still a living thing. 

Honestly I always imagine Sukunas temple being in the middle of nowhere, so you weirdly enough have more privileges with him than some of the others. Like, you have access to the temple's garden and such.

That's about as far as comfort goes at the temple though. It's always cold and impersonal, and just because you can identify Sukunas, and I put heavy quotations around this, “love” doesn’t mean it feels like love. Yea, the creature comforts and spoils of the temple are nice but, it’s not human connection. You’re gonna have to play Ryomens game for that. 

In conclusion: You were warned bestie, I keep saying this man is Chernobyl level toxic.

The week felt like it took forever to be over, exams, loads of homework, part-time job, all that hectic stuff. But this weekend you get to-well you’re not really sure exactly what Sukuna has in store for you but whatever it is you’re excited for it. 

You had texted your roommate the day you were over Sukunas apartment that you’d be staying there at least until the weekend was over. You often stayed at Sukunas for long periods of time when you needed a break or just wanted to hang with your best friend. He never really minded you were pretty good company, in your own words, and he was used to spending long periods of time with you. During school, after school, in the summer, whenever your moms wanted to have a girls night, just whenever. 

Anyways your roommate was obviously cool with it, she had mentioned she wanted to have “company” over anyways so it all worked out. You took Sukuna’s advice and blocked your ex, you were probably going to do that anyways since the relationship was definitely over, so you have no idea if he’s texted or called. Not that you care though, he’s an ass and he should have enough shame, decency, and brains not to call and understand it’s over. 

To be honest you’re at the acceptance stage of grief, it is what it is he wasn’t the one for you, but it still sucks. Sukuna has actually been really helpful, he’s been, for lack of a better word, a great distraction. He won’t tell you what he has planned for tonight though, all he said was to be ready in pajamas. Maybe a movie night? 

You guys used to do those every Friday, but then college got too hectic with it being senior year and all. Sukuna said his classes are pretty easy, although you aren’t too surprised on that one he’s always been exceptionally intelligent, he claims it’s because he just decided to major in business since he’s not exactly sure what he wants to do.

He didn’t want to be a chef, even though he’s exceptionally talented in cooking too, but he’s a waiter at a restaurant for his part time job. When he first got that job you visited to see the restaurant, and him, it was a nice little quiet diner. He was annoyed and disgusted about it on the outside but you could tell he was embarrassed about you visiting, mostly because one time there was a couple that sat in the booth behind you and made comments about, “young love.” And every time you would sit in that same booth just to annoy him because you knew he thought about it each time, it was honestly hilarious. You and him? Being a couple? What a joke.

Sukuna texted he was on his way back, he had a lecture that was in the evening that day and he left a little early to start you guys’ weekend plans. Apparently you hadn’t been paying much attention to any calls or messages because you had about 10 missed calls from your friend and a dozen text messages. You immediately called back.

“Hello? Girl! Why have you not picked up, I’ve been calling you for forever.”

“I’m sorry! I was just laying here, and I had on dnd from when I was in classes earlier. I guess I never turned it off,” you replied in an anxious tone.

Mai just sighed before continuing, “anyways your boyfriend-“

“Ex,” you cut her off before she could even begin.

“Your ex-boyfriend,” she corrected herself with irritation, “has been showing up like every other hour asking about you, and I wasn’t paying much attention before but I’m pretty sure his car was outside yesterday for a while. He’s probably waiting on you, has he texted?”

“I don’t know if he’s texted I blocked him. That’s probably why he’s showing up, he thinks I’m home. Just ignore him, and if he continues to knock call the police or something.”

“Why can’t he just leave you alone? It’s clearly over, there’s nothing there anymore.”

“I know, I’m so sorry by the way.”

“You’re fine, enjoy your weekend babes! I just wanted to give you a heads up.”

“Thank you so much.”

“Mhm my company should be over soon, talk to you later, be safe.”

“Kk you too, bye Mai,” and with a small beep, the call ended. 

He was coming by every hour? How insane. You hoped he wouldn’t give Mai much trouble, but then again she could handle herself. What if he knew you were at Sukuna’s? Well he didn’t know the address….he’s dropped you off before though. Maybe he doesn’t remember it? Oh no what if he shows up?! And then your whole weekend of distraction will be ruined, and all of Sukuna’s hard work will be-

“-n? Y/n! Hey, Earth to y/n again. Seems like I’m having to do that a lot this week huh?” Sukuna jokes. 

“Hm, oh yeah sorry-“ you say lost in your thoughts.

“Uhh you sure? Why’re you all spaced out?”

“It��s nothing-“

“We both know it’s not nothing you might as well tell me, you’re not very good at your poker face I’ll have to teach you sometime,” he says playfully.

“It’s just- he showed up at my apartment. He was looking for me-“

“But you’re not there so what’s the problem?”

“Mai is there, which I’m sure she’s fine he’s not crazy he’s just a whore, but what if he shows up here?” 

“Wow never thought I’d hear you slut shame someone, that’s a new low y/n,” he smiles and then continues, “but you don’t have to worry about him showing up here. That is if he knows what’s good for him.”

Oh yeah one small thing, the time your ex dropped you off him and Sukuna did not get along. It was the briefest moment, it felt like when your dad dropped you back off at your moms’ after spending a weekend with him, but it was tense. You could tell, Sukuna’s sharp maroon gaze stayed on him even after you had stepped inside. So, safe to say he’d have to be pretty ballsy to show up here.  

“Put on some boots or something we’re going out,” Sukuna says gruffly.

“Going out where? I’m in pajamas-“

“I know, good. I told you to be, glad to know you listen.”

You scoffed, “no way I’m going in public like this-,” you gestured with your hands waving in an up and down movement to your unprofessional getup. 

“Relax. You won’t be the only one, I’m about to change too.”

“Oh because two of us looking like we just rolled out of bed is better than one,” you said sarcastically.

“Exactly, I knew you’d get it I had to admit I was getting a little worried there,” he teased.

“Oh shut up dimwit,” you said smiling.

There it was again, stunning.

Sukuna went to quickly throw on some sweats and an old faded t-shirt, probably sporting some random band. He grabbed his keys, and you were out the door. 

You loved night time drives, everything just hit different. The music vibed better, especially when Sukuna let you have the aux, the car ride is just more fun at night. When you arrived at the destination Sukuna parked the car and reached to turn the knob on the volume down.

“Look where we are,” he said turning to stare at you.

You immediately turned to look out the window, and even though it took you a second you realized-

With a big shriek and gasp you turned back to Sukuna, “this is-!”

“The ‘best convenience store ever in our hometown’ I know you said it to me so much it’s engraved in my brain.”

Sparkles were in your eyes, along with some unshed tears. So many great memories were here. Every time you passed a test with an A your mom would bring you here to get your favorite snack, and since Sukuna always did well on tests you’d take him about once a month to continue the tradition. But then you guys’ campus was at least a 35 minute commute from here, and when it was busy during the day maybe 45, so you stopped coming. There just wasn’t enough time and you guys got really busy. But not many people were on the road at night, and with Sukuna’s driving you guys probably made it there in 20-25 minutes tops. 

You were so happy you could scream. It was apparent in your face, the brightest smile. You jumped out of the car and immediately ran into the store, Sukuna not far too behind you. 

You had already grabbed one of the small dark green dingy looking baskets, ah the same as always, from the entrance and were halfway down your favorite aisle by the time he got inside. 

He greeted the kind old lady at the register who had witnessed your excitement just moments ago, screeching with joy, which scared her when you rushed in. 

He quickly found the aisle you were in and watched you decide which snacks you wanted, carefully picking the items and placing them in the basket. 

You rushed from one place to another, grabbing drinks, chips, snacks, anything you wanted because who knows when you’ll visit here again. Then you just stopped, and Sukuna watching your madness didn’t think you were ever going to. Then your eyes started to well up with worry.

“What’s wrong?”

“I- I left my wallet back at your apartment, I can’t buy any of this-“

“What? I’m obviously buying, dimwit,” he scoffed repeating your words from earlier.

“Really?” You asked, the excitement immediately perking back up inside you. 

He didn’t even get to answer before you continued happily on your shopping spree, how could he say no anyways? By the time you were done you couldn’t even pick up your basket. You quickly looked to Sukuna for help, and he rolled his eyes taking the basket with his left arm. You began to giggle watching him walk to the register. You couldn’t help it, the sight of him carrying a basket like a soccer mom was just too funny. 

A stuffed full basket being carried by his well built arm, the vein bulging from the somewhat strenuous task being carried out. His hand flexing and unflexing to stretch after putting the basket down, making the veins even more visible as they pop out due to his contractions-

“Y/n? You coming? Don’t you wanna get home to eat all this stuff?” 

You quickly snapped out of your haze, and ran up to the register where Sukuna had already taken his wallet out to pay, making a comment about how you were most definitely going to eat it in his car. You left a happy customer that day.

Before you left you made Sukuna stop in front of the shop so that you could snap a quick photo of the two of you together, you wanted to send it to your moms. 

You smiled the whole car ride home, and when you got in the house. 

“Thank you,” you said sincerely with a huge grin on your face.

“Yeah, yeah I know I’m the best,” he replied with a smirk.

“Can you cook the ramen please?”

“Who else was gonna-“

And then the shrill ring of the doorbell rang. 

“Are you expecting someone?”

“No, no one comes over here. Maybe it’s just a package.”

“At 10pm?”

“I don’t know, maybe some drunk has the wrong door.”

Then it rang again.

“Okay maybe not…”

“Sukuna just go get the door I’ll start prepping-“

Before you could finish your sentence though, he already opened the door ready to tell off the drunk.

“Oh. It’s you.” 

You didn’t like Sukuna’s tone, and being the nosey person you are sometimes, you rushed to the door. You immediately understood his tone. 

“Oh, of course it’s you.”

I didn't like how the new chapter was not dedicated entirely to sukuna and yuji and instead rushed and forced shounen trio and some random plot about Yuta being in danger (sorry I can't stand Yuta, to me Yuki IS the mc and I'm tired of Yuji being denied)

I want to think Yuji ate sukuna offscreen (remember his grandpa said to help people even if they don't say thanks), thats why the abrupt ending and not showing sukuna 100% evaporate

I hope the last chapter ends with Yuji AND sukuna. Make them reincarnate together or something. The others subplots I don't care about (unless it's yuji family)

It's alright anon don't be sorry. I think it was inevitable since gege has to wrap up things and solve important plot points before it ends. I knew this would happen when jjk ending was announced. I didn't expect the whole chap because we already saw a lot of them in 265 but i do feel a proper conclusion was missing..but only from sukuna's side.. That person is hiding too much in his heart, it was a shame we never got to see how he really felt about all these things.. I feel that was the moment where I wanted to hear what sukuna had to say. Doesn't matter what he does after that... Not reading between lines or speculations from readers..

Tbh, I have disconnected myself from it completely since I don't really have any hope and it's not because there aren't any clues, it's because of gege.. I feel like he already provided us what he really intended to. But I will still share with you what I think could have happened....since not caring anymore does not mean my brain has stopped working...

I think I will start with the finger thing.. Most obvious cope..that finger is sukuna's part of soul which means his consciousness does reside in it so yuji can actually eat it although Gumi said it wouldn't have enough pull to connect his soul but i think suku's soul link with yuji can compensate for that. Helping suku to reincarnate.

We were told many times how yuji is linked to sukuna and shoko said yuji has become like his finger so u can add that too.. So if resonance actually works because of their soul link so i would believe sukuna soul is still there since it's connected to yuji.

Since his last finger is still here, his soul is incomplete and wouldn't be able to reincarnate like a regular soul. so that means he is still in the limbo/ cursed realm (remember once uro said it's like coming back from hell) maybe pondering over what yuji said to him..just like how he was before yuji ate finger for first time

Like you said there's a good chance that yuji has eaten him since yuji really wanted him to live a normal life.. He was really sad that suku rejected his offer. so wouldn't be surprised of he did that.

The conclusion itself gives hope. Since it was abrupt. That there is more to their story... Although it didn't to me...

About other subplots, I think yuji already knows about kenny ig. That's why he referred both him and sukuna as being born with a curse. Maybe with the help of gojo considering he's telling every first year about their parents.. . I don't have any expectations left anymore . Will just accept whatever gege gives to us... I can't really care about anything atp. Like he can bring back gojo and I would be fine with it...

Although I would love that gege proves me wrong ..

I mean I get that jin is the twin (and tbh I actually like it more that way cause instead of retelling maki and mai’s story in a different way, gege builds off of what we already know and goes “ok but what if one of the twins had a child”). this whole “twins’ souls are considered as one” plot point is already… odd and somewhat inconsistent but to say that jin having the same soul as sukuna means that sukuna is also in a way yuujis… father.. is just confusing to me (unless I’m reading this wrong!) does that mean that if one of the zenin twins (let’s say) had a child later in life would that make the other one the parent too?? … sorry I don’t get it. I’m genuinely confused by this and I just wanted to know if maybe I’m missing something

Yeah, it doesn't really make much sense to me either. If you look at it removed and take out all the context of the twin being reincarnated in modern times in Jin's body, so it's just the soul from the Heian era and that soul has a child, then that might work, but I think practically, calling Sukuna Yuuji's father doesn't line up.

It is in-character for Sukuna to see his twin as merely a fragment of himself like a little chink in the armour because he is naturally a very self-centred person and he never really had a twin to begin with. He already absorbed his twin in the womb, he never experienced his twin as a separate person, they already shared a body when he was born. It also sounded like the soul of the twin was submerged. So it makes sense that his experience and understanding of being a twin would differ from Maki and Mai's. That doesn't mean that Jin is literally him and that anything Jin does is also a product of Sukuna. When Mai says "you are me and I am you", she doesn't mean that they are literally the same, in fact she highlights right afterwards how different her and Maki are. It is merely that jujutsu treats twins as one entity and that causes the separation of cursed techniques and other abilities. But Sukuna never had that. By absorbing his twin, he got back what would have otherwise be separate.

Additionally, Itadori Jin is biologically very different from Sukuna and was shaped by different experiences due to being born later and into other circumstances. Even if he has his memories from the Heian era, he would nonetheless be a another person. In no way are they actually the same. The Zenin twin child is a good example I also had to think of in the last days. If Maki had a child, that wouldn't make Mai the mother as well. Aunts and uncles are still a thing, even for identical twins. There might be some sentimental attachment from Maki's side, but Mai is nonetheless a different person and also dead. Jin had a child while Sukuna was busy chilling in his fingers. He had no input on the process and there is a very clear bodily difference as well. Both Jin and Sukuna's powers influence Yuuji, but that doesn't make Sukuna Yuuji's father. And Yuuji got his cursed technique from the time they shared a body, he wasn't born with it. Most importantly, Sukuna sees Jin/his twin as merely a fragment of himself, something that broke away from him, a little mistake in his otherwise perfect body, but he never even implies that what Kenjaku and Jin did would reflect on him too. He presumes Kenjaku used the reincarnation of his "fragment" to birth Yuuji, but he never thinks this must mean Yuuji is therefore his child. To Sukuna this is merely one of Kenjaku's weird experiments that happened outside his influence and is currently causing him a lot of trouble, just like it did on day one of his awakening in modern times.

The afterlife chapter and how it’s shown, that he just fought sukuna for the thrill of it and not to protect others (students). I think that was implied by nanami when he called gojo a freak for enjoying and getting a thrill out of fighting them, while most sorcerers take it more seriously in a sense where they’re fighting for their lives and to survive/not get killed.. also what even is gojos motivation to keep going? This is a question I ask myself alot!! Is it his entire upbringing and how it was drilled into his head that he’s a weapon meant to be used or is it that he sincerely enjoys exorcising curses and it makes him feel superior (I find the latter more uncharacteristic of him tbh since why would he just do it for the sake of it?? It’s definitely draining to go on missions constantly and shoulder the responsibility of saving the world.. so does he view himself as some sort of a curse exorcising machine?…

Also many ppl on twitter call him selfish and uncaring towards others (his students,colleagues..) since he didn’t kill sukuna right after he got unsealed and waited for a month when sukuna got much stronger? Where he could’ve just finished sukuna off instead of dragging it into the shinjuku arc…

ALRIGHT . SO . i’m gonna try to adress everything in this ask but i am in fact scatterbrained so please bear with me 😭😭😭

well, first of all — yes, gojo absolutely fights for the thrill of it. the sukugo fight is a great example of this because it’s the only fight we see gojo let completely loose, but it’s an even better example because it also proves that gojo fights for a lot more than that. he obviously enjoys fighting, but i think you’d be missing a lot of key points of his character if you tried to say that’s all he fights for, you know? we know that gojo is fighting and training for the sake of making a change, of nurturing others, but more than anything else — gojo fights because that’s all he knows how to do. he was raised as a weapon. of course he’d grow to love fighting!! he literally has no choice but to live the life he was born into, and that’s the life of a weapon. weapons exist to kill.

i think his love for fighting is sincere, but it’s also a direct effect of being born as the strongest — do you see what i’m saying? gojo enjoys the thrill of a good fight, but there’s a lot more to it than that. and i personally think that he views fighting as a way to connect with others, not just an adrenaline rush. that’s kind of the whole point of the sukugo fight — they’re reaching out for each other.

aaaand that brings me to my second point!! i think the sukugo fight is like…. the most important fight to examine when discussing gojo’s character, because it tells us so much about him and why he fights in the first place. in this case — the manga almost outright states that he was fighting to teach sukuna about love. and this following part is just my own take!!!! but i think gojo cared about that on a personal level, that went beyond his duty to exorcise sukuna as a curse. gojo cared about sukuna. i think this is undeniable and that alone proves that he was fighting for something other than the thrill of it. he was having fun, but it wasn’t just because of the violence — it was because of sukuna himself.

and!!! it was also because of his students!!! i think this point is also undeniable. i reaaaalllyyy disagree with anyone who thinks gojo doesn’t care about them because it’s so …. obvious??? that he does???? he may not be the perfect father figure that the fandom often depicts him as (<- not complaining btw i eat that shit up), but he’s a good teacher. and he cares for them. he’s fighting sukuna for a lot of reasons, one of them being his love for megumi, who i’d argue is like a younger brother to him / the most important person to him since suguru died. <- that’s just my own hc really, but either way gojo cares for him!!! it’s obvious that he’s fighting with his students in mind, because he mentions them so many times. he is fighting to protect them. his character is built on a desire to nurture the youth, even at his own expense.

so, with that out of the way — let’s talk about nanami’s comment in 236. because i think a LOT of people misinterpreted it completely 😭😭 nanami mentions a scene back in premature death, where he exhaustedly asks geto why they can’t just leave everything to gojo. he then proceeds to say that gojo never cared about keeping sorcery going, or protecting people, and that his strength was all built on self satisfaction.

…. but notice that nanami is speaking in past tense. he mentions a moment in his youth, and follows it up with what his thought process was during that moment — to put things really simply, nanami isn’t talking about our gojo in this scene, he’s talking about gojo during his teenage years. the reason why the cast appears as teenagers in this scene isn’t just because that’s when gojo was happiest, but also to highlight how far he’s come as a person. how much suguru’s defection changed him and his values. teen!gojo wasn’t a bad person by any means, but he was definitely more selfish than gojo is now. teen!gojo cared about the people around him, but he did fight for self-satisfaction above all else.

our gojo doesn’t. our gojo fights to protect people, to make sure no one is lonely — not even sukuna — and because he has to. because he enjoys it, but also because it’s his duty to do so. there is absolutely a purpose behind gojo’s fighting. he’s matured a lot. he cares about a lot.

so, to answer your question properly: yes, gojo fights for the thrill of it. he also fights for a lot of other things.

He is unhinged and smiles alot. But not because of good reasons, he is pretty much so mentally fucked he smiles at situations he shouldn't. He went through a lot of trauma as a child even if he had both parents, well only Gojo ever cared for him. He is basically suffering constantly without his twin sister and also his only motivation is to murder his dad one day. He is missing purpose and he finds it in doing whatever (which includes messed up things). Id compare him to a malevolent angel.

I have no hype for the next chapters tbh, it's already bad the chapter ends about Yuta AGAIN, and I can see Gojo coming back, so yeah, Yuji feels like a secondary character XDDD everything feels so rushed and so....soulless fanservicey?

Like, if you just want to write about yuta just be honest. Like....I know this will sound awful but for this dishonest story I rather yuji just ate the 20 fingers and sukuna conquered him somehow then gojo kills both and we get a nice scene of both of them dying together, then you spend the last 50 chapters saying how cool gojo is and write about Yuta's grandma if you want to, but don't bait me for years for NOTHING!

Tbh, it's understandable. I ranted out my frustration in the ask tag (to other anons) that I hate the way that everything remains subtextual between these two and that the fandom ignores them in favor of discussing irrelevant things. Stuff that happens between Yuuji and Sukuna never gets the proper spotlight, despite them being the driving force of the narrative (the MC/villain).

Well, as far as I could see from the leaks, we're right back to S1, or should I say, start of the story. The dead are back, it's high school vibes again and the only thing that's missing is Gojo comeback to complete the picture of the fanservice ending. The only thing which is not fanservecy (because the fandom ignores them) is the whole Sukuna/Yuuji moment and why I liked it a lot. As for the rest, well... it's basically bland shonen to me so it's not anything to be in awe about.

I'm also hoping the last three chapters not to focus heavily on the trio (shonen tropes had never suited jjk) and to instead focus on Yuuji and possibly give us something about Sukuna. We shall see tho.

A lot of them just served to put me into a certain mood, so the lyrics don‘t necessarily match up, but the lyrics of most of the songs played a huge role. You might recognise some of them even 😋

Other than that, I want to give a little direction here, that you know which songs belong to which parts of the story, since sometimes they guided me for a whole chapter, sometimes a whole song for just a short moment! Sometimes the songs describe y/n’s point of view, but sometimes Sukuna’s too!

I’ve been writing Permission for over a year, so I probably won’t remember everything, but these were the most important ones I remember! I also tried to put them into order of when they fit into their moments or chapters:

I listened to those songs mainly when I was planning the whole story. To give me moods, themes, emotions that I want to convey. I listened to the Game Of Thrones Soundtrack a lot in general, but those songs I listed in there were the ones who inspired me the most!

Fun fact here: Mado Kara Mieru from Christopher Tin was the one which gave me the most inspiration for how Sukuna’s melody would’ve sound like.

Song 16 (Serj Tankian - Rains of Castamere)

Basically my Soundtrack for Chapter 13 and especially the throne room scene, when the new girl arrives and Sukuna invites her in.

Song 17 - 21 (Obsessed - Entitled)

Those songs guided me from the moment when Sukuna saves y/n from the curses until the end of the camping arc. I don’t recall listening to music a lot during that time of writing, cause I acquired that skill only later 🌝

Zandros - Obsessed was for me the moment y/n sees Sukuna standing over her after killing the curses, seeing the snow flakes crash against his body. Idk this song carried the mood for me.

Adin - Somebody Else was one of the few songs that I connected with Sukuna’s pov.

Those songs described for me the moment when they return to the shrine and long for each other, before y/n gains the courage to knock on his door in chapter 24.

Song 24 Max Richter - On The Nature Of Daylight

I don’t remember clearly, but I think I listened to this to get in a sad mood to describe y/n’s pain when Sukuna left for war and she misses him dearly.

A good song in general to get a fucking sad mood tbh.

Song 25 - 27 (The Way - Violently)

Oh those were the songs I listened to when y/n follows him into the war. Chapter 29 & 30 all the way.

Zack Hemsey - The Way was perfect to listen to when she realises, she’s close to Sukuna and the war is starting. This remix with the sirens was perfect for me to visualise how she’s running over that battlefield, dodging the bombs, fighting her way through. It’s still such an epic scenery in my head which I hope I could convey!

Jayme Deville - Right on Time kinda gave me slow motion pictures in my head, for when Sukuna approaches her during battle.

Mira - Violently is such an incredible song for me. It describes her whole journey and emotions so so good. I listened to it when I wrote the kissing scene, but it grew to be a super important song for their whole relationship, that’s why I would choose it for a rolling credit song hehe.

Song 28 - 31 (The Shadows - Take Me Back To Eden)

Those were all the songs which inspired me for the Sex Scene when Sukuna returns from war in Chapter 32.

Heh! Chapter 33, the festival! I actually planned to have a dancing scene with y/n and other people from the festival, kinda Bollywood style, to impress our Lord and Saviour Sukuna! 😆

However, since that requires A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL of writing skill, I decided to leave it. The Songs still served me perfectly well to get in the mood for a cool ass festival atmosphere for a cool ass King!

Chapter 35, when Sukuna and y/n talk on the bridge. Just that moment and atmosphere.

Song 35 - 36 (Timeout - You Thought)

Mood Songs for when y/n is gonna find out that Sukuna fucked around when he was in war. No particular moment here, but served me to get into her emotional state.

Again mood songs for sex scenes after Sukuna’s confession in Chapter 36.

I think I listened to Ecstasy and All I Need by The MXXNLIGHT for the Throne Sex in Chapter 25 as well.

I think this one explains itself…Dancing in the rain with Sukuna in Chapter 44.

Song 43 - 44 (Fatal Attraction - Obsession)

Again mood songs for their overall relationship, that represent how knee deep y/n is in love with Sukuna.

Song 45 Mira - Thorns

Oh Mira, how I love her music. That song was published a few chapters before I was ready to write Akiko’s murder, but it described y/n’s reaction regarding Sukuna’s apathy so perfectly in Chapter 45. My heart ached so much when I listened to it the first time!

Fun fact here: The moment when Sukuna reveals that he was pushing the maids with motivation, was actually planned to be directly after Akiko’s death. I noticed in the early draft of that chapter, that it doesn’t work out and decided last minute to completely change that plan and to write that moment into the finale of the story.

Awe think about how proud your favorite jjk guy would be. They would have various ways of expressing it, from the softest being Kento to the roughest being Sukuna

Kento who gets a yummy meal and some coffee/tea ready for you. He softly massages your shoulders, kisses your head and tells you how proud he is

Suguru who is studying with you even though he isn't a student. He is a very helpful study buddy who times out bursts for you to focus and then breaks. During those breaks he will hold you close, kiss your cheek, carry you around the apartment.

Satoru who is kind of distracting but then gives you some space. After a long while if you don't take a break he brings you some food and something to drink. Will pout a little about how he misses you, and when you return to him he is heaping on the praise that he proud of how hard you’re studying

Toji who lounges quietly in the room with you. And after a while of noticing your studying habits makes an effort to meal prep for your study sessions. He kind of cuddles you while studying as in you can lean against his chest while he watches tv /scrolls on his phone

Sukuna who throws tiny paper balls at you when bored. Then he goes out to get you peace after you snap. He comes back with some coffee and will take away your stuff and make you take a break after a while. He believes you’re not learning shit while stinky sleep deprived and hungry.

How do you feel about Megumi and Hana? Friendship, romantic feelings, etc. 

im pretty neutral about them, i think. their pairing kinda reminds me of yorozu x sukuna, but a lot less crazier. and i never really thought about it until this ask.. but, arent they too similar 🤔?

also, i think hana was judged way too harshly for her fumble in 212 tbh. when it comes to writing megumi, gege relies greatly on subtlety - to the point where some people tend to miss the nuances in his character (and his connection with other characters) a lot.

people were saying that the only reason that hana fell for the bait was because she is a dumb kid. and while that could be one of the reasons, it wasnt really the main one. she failed because she believed in the goodness of megumi's heart. sukuna took advantage of that by acting like a shoujo male lead back in 212 (or 213?) to trick hana, and hana fell for it because, while she never saw megumi personally act like that, that was her perception of megumi - the kind boy who saved a random girl when they were kids.

there is potential in their pairing, canonically, and i would have loved if gege showed more of their dynamic before 212 happened. hell, i think it would have been better narratively if we saw hana before the culling game even happened. because the way it happened in the story was kinda abrupt, her connection with megumi felt like something gege just inserted there last minute or something. two pages of a flashback is just not enough.

but, yeh, gege wanted to speed things up so much - character connections and dynamic outside of punch punch kick just goes whooossh most of the time :(

and now that i think on it, gege seems to have a plan set in stone for megumi that he seems to believe to be good (story-wise) - and he has been holding it out from the readers for so long. however, because of this 'plan', he has not been able to 'properly' portray megumi's connections with other people aside from yuji. everyone else's connection with him, is presented in a manner that's too subtle people tend to miss it. ((i dont really know why, but these things were actually a lot more properly portrayed in the early draft, jujutsu sousen, where megumi and yuuji's connection was a lot more established - megumi and tsumiki's bond was portrayed better, etc. in kaisen, everything is built on subtlety in favor of punching and kicking all day everyday))

what im trying to say is that gege never really gave hana and megumi that much moments for me to feel anything about them as a pair in canon - platonic or romantic. and while i do love the careful subtlety in megumi's character, sometimes thats not enough when it comes to his connection with other people. its easy to sympathize with him, but not with the people he's connected with. i hope this side of the story gets some rework when the anime comes tho, additional stuff with regards to megumi's connection with other people (like his sister, hana, gojo, etc.) needs to be a lot more visible than subtle hints from gege.

((they could be cute in fanon, tho i dont really see much fan works of them together.. and that is mostly coz gege never explored their dynamic in canon. in canon, hana just comes off as a silly girlie who talks about destiny and such with a boy she barely knows - much like yorozu 🤔))

Sukuna x Reader x Gojo: Super fun and super intense 💗💗Maybe two rival CEO's who have a love/hate relationship with each other. They always have this competition over who is more successful and better and blah blah blah but it always ends in one of them dicking the other down. And one day they run into you at some business event they both attend. A new competition begins... this time which of them can seduce you first, fuck you better, make you cum more times etc. But what they don't realize is that they love this whole dynamic so much that they would miss it extremely if it ever ended. And you are the one who tells them to just admit they are into each other too, and that's how you end up in a poly relationship. They still bicker all the time, but you always make them kiss and say something nice to each other when they do. And they both are super protective over you. If anyone even dares look at you in a strange way Gojo and Sukuna become all threatening and scare everyone off 💗💗 I really love this tbh!! Lately I ship Gosuku or Sukugo a lot, so this would be a really fun thing to me!!

Gojo x Reader x Nanami: The playful, boyish and rich guy + the serious and mature man. I love that because you would get the best of both worlds. And you and Gojo can team up to tease Nanamin ;) Or you and Nanami team up to brat-tame a certain white-haired idiot you both are in love with ;)

Megumi x Reader x Gojo: I never thought about it, but I could see it as a fun dynamic. I would probably write it as Gojo and Reader being a thing and you both are open to threesomes and Gojo always wanted to get Megumi to open up more and let himself enjoy things, and so he has that plan for the two of you to seduce him. It could be a college setting maybe? Gojo and Megumi are coworkers, both teaching the same courses and Gojo never gets tired of teasing Megumi about his lack of experience. (Only to find out that Megumi is actually having more sex than Gojo, he just doesn't brag about it lmao). What starts as a purely sexual thing turns into more because you think Megumi is super nice beneath his aloof mask, and Gojo always had a weakness for his pretty coworker. I think it would be similar to the Gojo x Reader x Nanami dynamic. Because Megumi's a pretty serious character too.

Megumi x Reader x Sukuna: I once wrote a story with Megumi x Yuuji x Sukuna and I would just insert Reader as Yuuji's role. So Sukuna and Megumi and Reader are all in a loving relationship. Megumi and Sukuna are both rich, both CEO's of old family businesses. You are from a poorer background, maybe working at a coffee shop or just going to college etc.. It's a very loving and comforting relationship for all three of you. Megumi and Sukuna see you as their precious darling who brings love and joy into their busy and boring lives and so they spoil you rotten. They love to buy things for you, they love to team up to take care of you in bed. You have four strong arms to fall into. And they have the comfort of being able to let go of their stressful lives once they are home with you.

ok, so there were a lot of theories floating around before 261 about if we would actually be getting a gojo comeback or not. Honestly, some people pointed out why gojo reviving might not be the best decision for the story, but I was placing bets on it anyways because I too was pretty bummed by his end and also because my naive self chose to believe it was the most likely choice for gege to make.

However I did try to keep my hopes reasonable, choosing to belive that it could just be a hallucination.

Truthfully, I didn't think it would be Kenjaku. I'd seen the theory that it could be them but I honestly doubted gege would do that. Yet in the depths of my copium filled soul I had always been holding onto the hope that kenjaku would somehow return to the story. When I tell you my secret little stash of cope was as potent as some gojo fans im telling the truth 😭.

I honestly hoped maybe it would be kenjaku, just maybe. This morning I sought out the leaks and you know what I saw? This:

I was DYING. For a second I thought gege had really done, I was in disbelief, I was in shock, I briefly wondered if this was a joke.

AND THEN I WAS SO HAPPY. I was like: Yes! Answers! Yuji-kenjaku interactions! An unexpected twist in the fight! Forget the logistics of how kenjaku ended up in Gojo's body, I was going to trust gege's cooking and enjoy the chapter before taking a step back and critiquing anything.

And then I read that it wasn't kenjaku. It was Yuta using kenjaku's ct.

I didn't want to belive it could be Yuta. Of all the outcome I thought it CANNOT be Yuta. Not possibly. BUT IT WAS. IT WAS YUTA.

I have felt emotional when consuming media before, and sometimes underwhelmed or critical when something didn't rub me the right way, but I'd never understood people who act so utterly devastated by an author's decisions.

I UNDERSTAND NOW.

I've been mourning all day man 😭. My gojo cope, my kenjaku cope, all of it down the drain just like that AND ALL AT ONCE. I genuinely am not sure what about this chapter gas prompted such emotion in me. Am I lobotomized after all? I choose to belive its the sheer shock of this chapters events.

Tbh, I read the rest of the chapter in a bit of a daze and I'd have to go back and look over it again to share any actual thoughts or analysis, but I will says some other things stood out at me about it.

first of all, I don't hate Yuta. He's not my favorite character but I don't hate him and I wish the best to you yuta fans, however yall are feeling. his line about how the others are so worried about becoming monsters, unknowing that they've forced that role onto gojo all this time hit pretty hard for me. And now Yuta is taking on the same role since gojo's gone. He's strong and is not just taking Gojo's body but in a way taking on his position as the 'monster' of the jujutsu world, even if only for the dubious amount of time he had left.

Also the way sukuna just, punches yuji aside 😭. Nahh. The disrespect. He rlly just sees yuta in gojo's body and tosses yuji away. Rlly hope my boy beats him up next chapter and it doesn't become a yuta-one-man-show.

Overall I'm dying, I'm crying, I'm gritting my teeth, I miss kenjaku, I miss gojo, rip yuta 😭

(Please gege give me my wife back. Even just a kenjaku flashback is enough. Gege pls.)

I’ll believe it when it’s really confirmed. From what I saw, it was the last panel and there’s speculation on whether it’s really him or if Sukuna is seeing shit as he dies or any of the crazy possibilities.

That being said, if Gojo really is back, WELCOME BACK, YOU WONDERFUL, TRAUMATIZED BLUE-EYED BEAN OF A MAN. WE MISSED YOU SO MUCH.

And now my rant begins…

I’m on the fence. In all honesty, I think I’d finally accepted his death tbh. Because I remembered something that’s actually really interesting: some of the very best stories have stakes. They have death because it’s unfortunately a part of life. Gojo isn’t the MC of JJK, even though he’s an incredible character and I adore him and I still hate how he went out.

But while I still hate how that played out, I was actually thinking recently about how much credit we really don’t give Akutami. Writing is hard. World-building is hard. And he’s created a universe that’s truly incredible. The countless number of cursed techniques he’s written into the story, the number of characters he’s given depth possible without even meaning to? Genuinely incredible. He’s done something amazing. I had a ‘come to Jesus’ moment of realization that he’s actually an incredible story-teller. The story he’s built in his mind is amazing and I’m so glad he’s decided to share it with us. We’ve questioned him because we didn’t have all the pieces he has, but he’s said time and time again that he has things planned and he’s had things planned since the beginning. The medium he’s using to tell the story necessitates it being a bit choppy because he can’t explain every little thing every single time. There will be holes and gaps and things he reveals over time for the sake of the story he’s planned, and I know I forgot that fact when I was angry and grieving. (I’ve also been just losing my shit lately at how stupid some people are saying Akutami hates anime fans just because he killed Choso off. The number of comments I’ve seen about ‘hot characters aren’t allowed to die’ is just… these characters are more than eye candy. They have a purpose and emotional value in the story, specifically Choso as a big brother figure for Yuuji.) okay, fun lil side rant over lol

I think we forget that this is a shonen manga. Shonen are notorious for killing characters. I think of Hunter x Hunter, which Akutami has said is a big inspiration for him, the Chimera Ant Arc seemingly killed over half the cast. I’ve also seen a lot of anger at Akutami for him saying that he doesn’t care how many characters die as long as it’s a good story, and I think people missed the point because they were angry their favorite character died. But the thing is, he has a point. If the character deaths push the story forward, then it works. Yuuji has clearly had a power up that wouldn’t have happened if Gojo hadn’t died. On top of that, we criticized the month-long time skip, but these big reveals couldn’t have happened without it. So while it felt jarring, and it still doesn’t sit quite right with me, I understand why Akutami’s logic now. Again, I think of Hunter x Hunter’s chimera arc and how Gon had to watch Kite die and then fight his puppet corpse. Talk about traumatizing a fucking twelve year old. And adding to that, Akutami has literally said that this is meant for adults. He’s writing with an adult, predominantly male, audience in mind because that’s been the primary demographic for shonen for decades. So no, he isn’t writing with the female audience, or the young female audience, in mind because that’s not the genre he’s targeting. It just so happens that there’s been a huge surge in American teenagers obsessively consuming Asian media in the past few years and now it’s wildly popular among that demographic.

Basically what I’m saying is that gen z has developed the female counterpart for the fedora-wearing weirdos with waifu pillows in the obsession with hot guys in manga/anime. The difference is that they’re raging about a story following its chosen genre. But this is me generalizing things a lot and it obviously doesn’t apply to the majority of fans. I’m pretty sure a large part of our lil corner here is on the older end of gen z or younger millennial, but I could be wrong. Actually, I’d love to know what that split is 🤔 maybe I’ll do a poll.
