Shout out to the disabaled people who were active kids. Who were always outside. Who were always playing sports. Who tried to remain athletic for as long as possible. Who one day had to quit the one thing that made them happy because it was just to draining. Was just too painful. And now when you see family they are like ‘Oh do you still play such and such’ and you have to be like ‘no, I had to quit.’ And their like ‘why’ and you’re like ‘I was to sick’ and then they go ‘you should get back into it’ and you internally scream because lifting your backpack causes you to be out of breath, your muscles hurt for weeks after squatting once to get something in a low cupboard, being outside in low 70/60 degree weather makes you sweat through your shirt and makes you so dehydrated.
(dont think too much about the positions in these drawings, i drew the poses first then moved them around to look nice.. i like the idea of setter alastor and spiker vox tho bc....oddball duo)
Wilbur: Who's the lucky- who's the lucky lady, who's Missa, what's she like?
Phil: It's a dude. *laughs*
Wilbur: Phil, you didn't tell me you were bi, and also polyamorous.
Phil: Definitely not.
Wilbur: What does Kri- what does Kristin think of your- of your... husband?
Phil: SHE'S NOT CANON IN THIS UNIVERSE! And we- and it's not like that, it's not like that- it's uh, we're- it's platonic, we're just dude's hanging out protecting an egg-
Obviously I will never be a uni prof but I do admit being able to respond with "ya sure" after years of being on the "my most esteemed professor, your highness, the greatest scientist in the history of this faculty, may I, a lowly worm, please kindly ask to reschedule" end sounds tempting
Surfing is kind of the best, I have found the perfect sport to watch whilst knitting. Each heat is 30 minutes long and often mostly nothing happens so you just get to listen to soothing ocean noises until the commentators start popping off because a good wave has come along. Then you get to look up and see hot people surfing rad waves for a hot sec. A whale just breached in the background of the women’s semifinals? Incredible stuff.
i have like 70% less time than i did before because i got a job but god knows that ain't stopping me thanks relics of the old faith dlc for rekindling the flame of my love for the game.
how it feels to love sport even when it hurts me because the act of participating in and watching sports is one of the most purely human acts of collective emotion you can experience, wether you win or lose, in that moment you, the athlete, the team, every fan, in the room, in the stands, across the world, is cheering together, crying together, winning together, losing together, and its more beautiful and perfect and frustrating and heartbreaking than a tv show or movie could ever be because its real its real and next season can always be different so you'll always come back and we keep always coming back for the rest of human existence
Drivers leaving home at a young age to pursue karting then ultimately F1 and some of them (esp non-European drivers) don't get to travel with parents or guardians- it's an accepted fact of motorsport. But then I remember that interview where Daniel said he was 17 and a million miles away from home and all he had was a copy of The Castle, an Australian movie, and he'd watch it incessantly beacuse he was afraid of losing his accent and there was no one around to talk to... reminds me of that one James Agee quote about clinging to home because in the absence of home the vastness of the world might mean we don't exist at all
