Blue Lock volume cover analysis
An examination of unusual features and chains among the 31 volumes released to date. Subject to revision.
Like this? Want to reference these points in your own analysis on Reddit, YouTube, wherever? Go ahead! A shout out to this post is appreciated. Straight up plagiarism isn’t.
Volume 8: Mikage Reo
Reo's chains are noticeably shaded green. Guess whose eyes glow green when they're fired up...
In addition, @thyandrawrites has a theory that Reo ties/reties his hair up as a way to maintain emotional composure. The volume covers tend to represent the character's personality or struggles in some sense. If so, this is an early nod to the emotional trials Reo endures during the series.
Volume 10: Tokmitsu Aoshi
No chain weirdness here, but Tokimitsu is surrounded by black gunk in his cover. This may be a visualisation of his anxiety and the way he copes with it: running at speed and bulldozing through his opponents.
Volume 11: Ego Jinpachi
Ego's cover depicts him totally immobilised by the four chains bound to his neck. To date, no other character has been more restrained by the chains. This likely represents that Ego's fate is utterly dependent on the outcome of Blue Lock. His cover also suggests that Blue Lock (and football) consume Ego's life.
Volume 12: Shidou Ryuusei
Shidou's chains have a blue glow, much like Sendou's in volume 27. This glow is far closer to Shidou's collar however. It could imply that Blue Lock is the beginning of Shidou's pursuit of football.
He's also depicted with demon wings. The collar or chains don't impede his movement significantly, unlike other characters. In addition to portraying his incredible physicality, this could also visually represent how Blue Lock has failed to subdue Shidou.
Volume 16: Oliver Aiku
Aiku's chains are wrapped tightly around his arm and he's pulling them taut. The chains themselves appear rusted and cracked, most notably on his collar. This could represent Aiku's relationship with football. He grew jaded with being a striker in high school. Becoming a defender, then the match against Blue Lock, revitalised his enthusiasm. Hence, the chain is holding fast: he's just as ensnared by football (and Blue Lock) as the others.
Volume 17: Itoshi Sae
Sae and his chains are bathed in radiant gold light, which is associated with both divinity and wealth. His chains crumble in one place, and remain barely intact. I offer two interpretations for this. Firstly: unlike the others, Blue Lock does not have a strong impact on Sae—his success as a footballer is completely independent of it.
Secondly: if we take the chain to represent Sae's footballing career, the crumbling chain could allude to a time when football negatively impacted him. Perhaps whatever happened in Madrid? But he came back stronger, as the rest of his chains appear even more golden.

Volume 18: Teieri Anri
Anri is the only character depicted without chains or a collar. While working with Ego is a prison sentence in its own right, the artwork suggests that her ambition and future isn't connected to the outcome of Blue Lock. It can also be interpreted as a nod to the hierarchy within Blue Lock. Anri is Ego's boss and thus, she is free while he is constrained. However...
Zoom in on the reflection on her phone screen. It appears to reflect a wide grin—which can only be one person's. Taking into account her passivity in chapter 247, this detail positions Anri as Ego's accomplice: willing to do his bidding, no matter how amoral.
Volume 19: Michael Kaiser
Kaiser's collar and chains are made of glass, through which his blue rose tattoo is visible. As chapter 243 told us, a blue rose represents the impossible to Kaiser. Glass chains suggests that his ego or ties to football are fragile, and could be broken easily. Symbolically, glass can also represent transparency. As a character, Kaiser is upfront about his talent and desires. Nobody is in doubt about his footballing mantra or his intent to undermine Isagi.
Volume 20: Alexis Ness
Ness's chains are entwined with blue rose brambles, all but for a short length to the top right of the image. While Ness came to love football independently, seeing it as magical, the rose brambles show that his connection to football is now inseparable from his devotion to Kaiser. It also reflects that Ness would not be a professional footballer without Kaiser, as per chapter 242/243.

Volume 24: Hiori Yo
Hiori is the only character shown holding the end of his chain, which is secured by a football-shaped weight. This suggests that Hiori himself is the one in control of his career, rather than external forces. Football is a burden to him, albeit something he can carry. Therefore, Hiori is not ensnared by the chains (or Blue Lock) to the same extent as other characters. Appropriate for a character guaranteed to succeed as a footballer, but who ultimately may not choose to pursue it.
Volume 25: Niko Ikki
Niko's volume cover is hilarious. I'll leave the explaining to Tomo-tan, who lays out the humour and genius of Niko's cover in this great Reddit post.

Volume 26: Don Lorenzo
Members of the New Generation World XI have no chill when it comes to their covers, and Don Lorenzo is no exception. His collar shows bite marks, as though chewed through. Gold teeth are good for more than caramel popcorn, apparently.
Lorenzo's chains are accompanied by what looks like electricity. This suggests that football reanimated Lorenzo from near death, as per chapter 216. It's a visual nod to his playstyle, which resembles the incessant pursuit of a zombie. Guess we can call him Snuffy's Monster.
Volume 27: Sendou Shuuto
A blue glow appears on Sendou’s chains, halted from travelling further by his fist. This may represent the threat Blue Lock poses to Sendou's footballing career. He's already been kicked as the striker of the national team; now in the Neo Egoist League, he must battle for a place on the new U20 line-up. No easy feat, as his sweaty face implies.
Another detail worth mentioning is that the trajectory of one of Sendou's chains appear to align with the chain Aiku's pulling in his cover. This similarity, and the fact that they're both holding their chains, may be interpreted as a nod to their status as former U20 teammates—likely the only ones that will make the new team, going off the latest NEL auction table.
Volume 29: Nanase Nijiro
Debated adding him, but eh—I wrote up Reo's cover. Nanase's illustration (incl. the chains) is shaded green… similar to Rin's eyes and aura colour. His chain jerks right and left in a nod to his ambidexterity.
Volume 30: Tsurugi Zantetsu
Another gag cover on par with Niko's, albeit less clever (intentionally?). Zantetsu's chain is made of shapes you'd associate with a toddler's learning shapes toy.
Volume 31: Charles Chevalier
Charles's cover is a double whammy. He gets two colours like Aiku, reflecting his capricious nature. Gold and metallic are representative of his high worth. The background spirals are a definite nod to the Cheshire Cat, a character Charles states he likes in an end of volume character profile.
The chains are shaped like the devil emojis that appear in Charles's dialogue. The chains also feature two materials: an alternating light and dark metal with no evident pattern. This perhaps represents the way his passes are hit or miss, or the way he decides who to send passes to on a whim.

i miss writing Anri and it sucks because I find her easier to write when in the confines/context of a group setting. ie rp groups, jcink forums etc. because admittedly, she's a passive character so having reason/motivation for her to do stuff is prompting. But rpgs are very barren right now.

oh yeah i still don’t have access to eleanor forte AI because i’m pretty sure outlook marked the emails from Animen as spam so now the code is just…gone. I have ONE email from them that I manually marked as not spam, but it’s just the “your order is processing” one or whatever, and I can’t see a way to view download codes for your past purchases on their website.
I should probably try to contact them and see if they can help? idk i just know i am not purchasing a second code for her i refuse
(i probably will if they can’t help me because i have no self control)
#synthesizer v#i miss her#i wanted to cover a song with her and anri arcane yesterday#and then i remembered#she’s literally installed on my computer too#so she just stares at me every time i open the editor

❝lavender haze❞

synopsis : Rin begged Ego to let you assist to one of his training games. But he wasn’t quite fond of your interactions with a certain player..
pairing : Rin Itoshi x genderneutral!reader •— Blue Lock
tw : A mix of fluff and comfort, with the slightest bit of angst (jealousy themes, possessiveness)
word count : 2700~ words
author-note : Hi !!! It's been so long, I missed writing so much... I finally passed my final exams, and I'm now in vacations; I’m going to Austria today. My blog is like- a blue lock obsession at this point lmao but ngl i like it that way. Btw, I’ve seen the movie and I'm just plain disappointed ? It was short asf, and the animation... well, we don't wanna talk about it. Reblogs and comments are highly appreciated :) sorry if it’s bad btw !! Anyway, take care of yourself ♡

A rare, smug smile appeared on RIN ITOSHI’s lips; a smile that immediately triggered his teammates, who looked at each other, dumbfounded. They weren’t used to observe him with such an expression written on his usual stern features; as soon as he left the locker rooms, whispers emerged in the sweaty air, begging for an explanation.
"No way he did," Isagi contested with a frown and a disapproving tone, much to Bachira’s dismay.
"I’ve seen it with my eyes," The other retorqued, "Believe me. He smiled, dude. I’ve never seen him smile before."
"We’re gonna get fired from Blue Lock. I swear— he wouldn’t be happy if it wasn’t terrible. He’s a sadist."
"No worries, my dear Isagi. We’re going to elucidate this mystery together," Bachira replied with a proud smirk of his own; Isagi sighed at his friend’s antics.
"Maybe it’s personal."
"It’s never personal enough for us not to be nosy !" The dual-haired boy nearly gasped, "Our duo is unstoppable."
With more or less desire to intrude Rin’s life, Isagi joined Bachira into a rather quick — and disappointing — mission, to solve the mystery around the cold-hearted guy’s smile, a smile they had the chance to witness.
"Ah. Itoshi asked Ego to let his partner see the next training game. I didn’t know he would be this enthusiastic once Ego accepted."
Anri’s revelation should’ve been a relief for the two men — they wouldn’t be expelled of the program. Thus, Isagi had been surprised and confused when he noticed Bachira’s quiet attitude.
"Aren’t you supposed to be delighted you discovered the truth ?", The raven-haired boy asked, curious, as they walked in the corridor to join their rooms again.
"I didn’t even have time to feel the thrill of the investigation," the other whined.
"At least we know he has a partner. It’s… let’s just say it’s surprising someone like him could ever get someone."
"Someone like me ?"
The sudden third voice scared the two men off, and they jumped. Of course, it was Rin. Always there at the worst moment. Isagi gulped.
"H-Hey, I didn’t mean it like that—"
"What Isagi was trying to say, is that we’re not picturing you as the lovey-dovey type of guy, you know ? Not a good boyfriend or something."
If Isagi could facepalm right now, he would, "Thank you for your help, Bachira, it’s even worse now", he replied in a murmur.
"Who said I couldn’t be the "lovey-dovey type of guy" ?", Rin huffed in his usual cold tone, "and a good boyfriend ?"
"Everyone," the two others responded at the same time. Rin rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"So, y’all just sat down and talk about who could be a good partner or not ? That’s probably why you’re still fucking losers at soccer."
Bachira held Isagi back, amused by his eagerness to show Rin "who’s the real loser between them". Rin walked away confidently, and above all, enlivened by Ego’s answer. He would be lying if he said he wasn’t looking forward to it, the butterflies already flying eagerly in his stomach in anticipation.
RIN ITOSHI’s belly butterflies died in an instant. It wasn’t fair. At all. He had been longing for you since weeks now, months even; he negotiated with Ego for who-knows-long, trying to find a way to make you come to a training game of his — so that he wouldn’t have to search for you in a huge crowd of exasperating, futile, and bland people. And here he was, watching you from afar talking with Isagi Yoichi. He cursed under his breath. This dude had nothing to do with you. He was nothing compared to Rin; a mere guy, with limited soccer skills and knowledge and experience and — why were you talking with him anyway ? When he was right there, waiting for you. The training have haven't even started yet, and playing with Isagi left a bitter taste in his mouth. He threw a hard glare in your direction, which you immediately noticed; you waved at him with a smile, and it nearly made him melt. It would've if he wasn't this upset in the first place. Bachira called for Isagi, and the raven-haired boy returned to the field with a smile. If he could, Rin would definitely wipe the smile off this random guy's face.
RIN ITOSHI tried not to let this affect him. But the prominent and everlasting burning sensation in his chest clouded his mind, making him loose his focus each time his eyes would fall on either Isagi, or you. And god knows how much he had missed you, how he needed to touch you now, to feel your skin just against his — to kiss you endlessly, and his gaze softened by pure reflex as he noticed you were staring at him. He felt guilty, to entertain such hideous resentment towards you, while you were just there for him, as beautiful as the day he left you in your shared apartment to join Blue Lock again after his short break. Was he jealous? It couldn't be. Why would he be jealous of Isagi? He was better than him in everything. Atter 45 minutes, when they all got a short break from the match, Rin refused to say a word. He was always rather quiet - but now, it felt a bit weird. He just stared at Isagi with a cold gaze, and the other boy frowned. When they had to join the field again, Isagi stopped Rin, a hand laying on his shoulder.
"Hey, is everything okay? If it's about the score of earlier, I already said -"
"Look," Rin cut out quickly, his tone slowly shifting to an irritated one, "I don't want to hear your fucking voice."
Isagi's brows were now even more furrowed in confusion,
"What the.. I did nothing bad, dude. If you're upset, that's not my problem. Deal with your childish feelings alone, I don't know."
Childish feelings ? It was deeper than that. Much to Rin's own surprise, he grabbed Isagi's collar, dragging him closer with a menacing look. He didn't know, did he ? How much Rin loved you, how much he required your whole attention. Maybe it was childish indeed, selfish even, to desire to be your whole world. The only one you would ever think about. If he could make you his forever, he would; and at the same time, you had every right to talk to other people, be friends with anyone, you were free after all. But that wouldn’t rub out the aching feeling in his heart, seeing you smile with someone else, having a good time with someone who wasn’t him. Maybe because in the very end, he was scared of losing you. Of you, finally realizing you deserved far better than what he could give you. He was distant, sometimes. He hurt you too much, argued with you on futile things, left for Blue Lock for months, he was a huge mess, and still, you wanted him. It was a mystery for Rin, but he wouldn’t ever complain. He was too engrossed in your love and affection, and somehow, even if he knew it was fundamentally wrong, he’d never wish for you to realize what you truly deserved. Because it wasn’t him. And he couldn’t bare to see you enjoying your life with someone else other than him.
"I’m going to end your pathetic and meaningless existence so quickly you won’t have time to take another breath," Rin spat sharply, "I’ll politely advice you not to approach them ever again — don’t want your disgusting germs to infect them, understood ?"
With these words, Rin yanked him away and joined the field, leaving a widened-eyed Isagi behind him. As soon as the game ended, the whole Blue Lock team began gathering their water bottles, heading to the locker rooms. Rin stayed behind, since he wanted to spend some time with you before your departure. When you both were finally alone, you walked down the stairs, and Rin immediately engulfed you in his arms. One hand was grabbing your side, the other resting on the back of your head, pulling you close. He sighed, inhaling your familiar perfume — it was his favorite, the one he gifted you recently — and pressed a delicate kiss to the crown of your head.
"I missed you so much," He declared, or more precisely, complained, and you chuckled, embracing him just as tightly.
"And I missed you even more," you responded, loosening your embrace to look at him. He could die for this fond look in the depths of your irises. You didn’t have to ask; his hands reached for your cheeks, tilting your head backwards to kiss you gently, yet, eagerly, a pleading for your tenderness. You kissed him back, amused by his move. He was usually the reserved type, especially in public — even if the whole stadium was empty now. Your lips parted to welcome his tongue inside, deepening the kiss even more, a slow dance mimicking his need for you. He kissed your forehead softly when you two broke away from one another.
"What happened earlier ? With Isagi. I thought you were gonna fight."
The question tensed him. Of course you had to bring it up. He stroked your cheek delicately, as if you’d shatter if he wasn’t careful enough.
"Nothing, love, don’t worry. I was just—"
"He told me about it, Rin."
You cut him, and he winced. Ah. That was a problem. He swore he discerned a tint of disappointment in your eyes, but it faded away too rapidly for him to search for it again.
"I thought we said no lies between us."
"I know, darling", he could only mutter. You gently took his wrists, then his hands, intertwining your fingers together.
"Am I not reassuring you enough, Rin ? I won’t ever leave you. Especially not for a guy I just met. You know that."
"More than enough," the memory of your smile and laugh when Isagi cracked a joke made him sigh, "it’s hard to believe sometimes. That’s all."
You nodded; with his lack of self-esteem, how was he supposed to believe you, anyway ? It was a constant fight against the insecurities crawling in the pit of his soul, however, you would never let them win. He suffered enough alone, now that you were there with him, you’d be in the frontlines.
"But it’s still true. I’m lucky to have you, Rin. Maybe one day you’d finally recognize that."
At this moment, he wanted to tell you he was lucky to have you, but he didn’t dare, especially not when he saw you reaching for him again, your arms around his neck. He let himself drown in your arms and comfort, soothed by your heartbeat — at this very precise instant, he swore his heart was beating for you. And if you wanted it on a silver plate, he’d gladly do so.
"I’m sure his joke wasn’t even that funny."
You chuckled, "maybe not better than yours, I must admit."
Not far away, two boys were spying on the scene; their investigation had been more successful than what they ever hoped for, "maybe he’s not that bad, after all."
"I thought he was going to choke me to death."
"Oh, he could."
RIN ITOSHI was a possessive man. Somewhere, he wanted you to rely on him, and him only — to be the only source of your happiness. He never had something to call his; you were the first. And he fully intended you to be the last.

How about Young manager with ADHD (continuously gets lost within Blue Lock, interrupts Ego using the PA system (accidentally) about trivial things, misplaces objects, rather naive etc),,, lol
LOST SHEEP
Notes: I personally do not have ADHD and my knowledge about it is quite small, so please forgive me if I misrepresent it here! I do not have any intentions of doing so, and if I do make some mistakes, please let me know! I am genuinely interested in being much more knowledgeable about this topic. Thank you!
"Y/n-chan...? What are you doing there..?"
Hiori asked, blinking at the rather bizarre scene in front of him. The midfielder just finished his daily training routines when he stepped inside of the laundry room to place his laundry basket.
But when he did walk in, he found their precious manager crouched down, hugging your legs as your eyes focused intensely at the small window of the washing machine, eyes boring at the spinning clothes inside the contraption.
In fact, you were too focused to even notice or hear the music of the other machines that alerted the room about how the process was done. You were just sitting there, staring, eyes blinking rarely, as if the rotation of the washing machine was a rare circus show to your eyes.
Everyone in the facility knew of your...tendencies and are more than understanding and ready to help you return your attention to whatever you were currently doing. Hiori was no different as he approached your crouched figure and lightly held your shoulder to take your attention back, but he made sure to be gentle enough to not scare you.
"Y/n-chan, earth to Y/n-chan. Are you okay?" He said in the softest voice he can muster, his hands supporting your crouched figure that almost lost its balance. You looked a bit dazed still from your previous episode, blinking at the sudden interruption. Turning to the blue-haired player, you tilted your head.
"Hiori-kun? What are we doing here...? What's happening?"
"Everything is fine, Y/n-chan. You just got a bit distracted with the washing machine." He explained, raising one of his hands to your hair, softly patting it in a comforting manner. He guided you up from your position and helped with the laundry that had long been done.
"Oh, I didnt notice that the rest were done..." you said in realization, looking at the washing machine with wide eyes. Hiori, who could not help himself, pinched one of your cheeks.
"Its fine, let's just get the rest of the laundry and hang it up, yeah?"
'Geez, she's too cute to be even real...' he inwardly gushed.
"What do you mean you can't find her?" Ego said, glaring at a worried Anri the moment he received the news. Apparently, you have been missing for more than an hour now, with no one from any stratum knowing where you were or even seeing you pass by.
"I'm a little worried. We all know how she gets when she's super distracted."
Ego sighed, rubbing his temple and not even adjusting his glasses that fell off the bridge of his nose. Out of everyone in there, he knew, especially how you can get. Being the one you always worked alongside with, there were times when you would be too focused on something trivial like a moving object or a rather miniscule detail that you would end up forgetting everything you were currently and supposed to be doing.
Now, most of the time, he encourages this. Ego cannot count how many times you ended up helping him and the players as a whole because your fixations on even the most minute of details always ended up being the root cause of a problem.
Hence, why, starting then, he always trusted your mini hyperfixations, no matter how dumb it may sound. You were naive, yes, but you are also a genius, something most people around you know of. So, early on, Ego trusted these said instincts and fixations and revolving them into something that would benefit everybody.
However, there are times like these where those hyperfixations end up disadvantageous. Somehow, you always get lost in the worst times in the worst places possible. Once, the whole facility literally had to work together in order to find you, only for Niko to find you crawling around the storage room near the cafeteria, chasing a ladybug that got your attention while you tried to find your way around the facility again.
There was no time for that kind of thing, however, seeing as to how the day after tomorrow was the last games for the Neo Egoist League, and the staff desperately needed to arrange everything and anything under the sun to make sure the games and livestream are all smooth sailing.
And, they definitely needed you, the overall manager of the teams, there.
"What do we do, Ego-san?"
"I'll look around in my cameras. Try to find her in the usual spot and rooms she crawls and runs on, or those rooms that have a lot of things she can fidget with." He sighed, feeling so done with everything that happened that day.
"Okay. I'll ask help from the rest of the staff."
Just as they were about to start looking for you though, the PA system was suspiciously turned on.
"Huh? It's not even 12 in the noon yet."
Anri said, confused, but all their questioning were answered when they heard the loud feedback of the mic before hearing small scratches and fidgeting noises in the mix. There were even times when they heard some buttons being pushed about. Ego sighed again, but it felt more like a breath of relief.
"That's her. Get that problem child and bring her here." Ego said, spinning his chair to face the cameras. And would you know it, when he went back through the CCTV cameras' previous footages, he saw you in the PA room, fidgeting with the buttons of the system. If he were to be honest, he felt a huge sigh of relief that you were not doing anything that may have harmed you of sort.
After a few minutes, Anri opened the door to his office but alongside her was Don Lorenzo who was smirking as he held you by the scruff of your jacket. Carrying you like a lost kitten, while you only blinked at the predicament you were in, constantly asking Anri about what you were supposed to do again and just babbling stories to Lorenzo and Anri.
"The lost sheep is here." He said, bringing you on the ground as carefully as he could, nodding along to whatever you said about how microphones actually worked and how you were just curious and wanted to experiment if your knowledge and hypothesis were actually real or whatever your mind was thinking about currently.
"Y/n." Ego said a bit sternly, making you stop talking as you looked at the man.
"Try to bring someone with you when you go on your little adventures sometimes." He said before turning his swivel chair once again to face the many monitors, turning his back to you.
"Okay, Ego-san!" You cheered happily, not even bothered about what had just transpired as you went back to your notebook to continue writing and working.
'This girl is going to be the death of me. This is why I don't want kids.' Ego thought, shaking his head.
"Rin-kun. Have you seen Mr. Boba?"
"Hah?"
Rin said, his usual frown in his face. But, this was more of a frown of confusion. He knew you had the habit of naming normal objects with names you found either fitting or adorable, by your standards of course. So, when you approached the striker about a supposed 'Mr. Boba,' he had no idea what the hell you were even looking for.
"Mr. Boba! He has tons of dots that's why he's Mr. Boba." You insisted, your face in a frown because you can't find what you were looking for at all and it was starting to thin your patience a bit.
"Look, I don't know what your Mr. Boba is. What even is it? Is it a hairpin of a boba, or a keychain?" Rin asked. He really did want to help you find Mr. Boba, but you were not exactly helping your case as you kept insisting Mr. Boba was Mr. Boba.
That was until Karasu and Shidou entered the field that helped him and you.
"Y/n-chan! Hi! Why are you sad?!" Shidou asked as he jumped to hug you, before frowning himself, not liking that you were clearly upset by the look at the frown on your face.
"What's wrong, Y/n-chan?" Karasu added, patting your hair.
"Did Rinrin over here make you sad? I'll beat him up for you if you want, Y/n-cha-"
"Shut the fuck up, lukewarm idiot. I didn't do crap." Rin intercepted Shidou, feeling the veins on his head pop.
"No, no, Shidou-san. I just can't find Mr. Boba. What do I do? I need him." The frown on your face deepened into a pout. Karasu was confused as hell who was this Mr. Boba you were talking about. He turned to Rin, who only glared at him.
"I dont know who the hell her Mr. Boba is."
But, Shidou seemed to understand who your Mr. Boba was as the grin on his face widened and he pulled your phone out from your jacket pocket and extended it to your hand.
"Mr. Boba!" You cheered happily at the phone.
"Silly Y/n-chan. It was in your pocket all along!" Shidou said as he pinched your cheeks and stretching it. Meanwhile, Karasu and Rin were just left confused to the side, wondering how the hell was a phone comparable to a boba.
"That's Mr. Boba? What the hell. I don't see it." Karasu commented, but Shidou only stuck his tongue out at both of them.
"You all are blind losers. Can't you see the phonecase design? It has black circles in the bottom and since its a clear case, you can see the (f/c) of the phone! So its like boba." Shidou explained, pointing out the small design of the phone that somehow made it look like a boba in both your and his eyes.
"Yeah! Like Shidou-san said!" You cheered as you hugged the male, thanking him sweetly for helping you find your Mr. Boba.
"I'm surrounded by idiots." Rin said, facepalming as Karasu just laughed.
"Shut the hell up, Rin-rin! You can't say that to Y/n-chan!!!"
"Who said I was also talking about her?"
ADDITIONAL TIME!
Since everyone in the Blue Lock facility found out about your disorder, they became much more protective of you overall.
You are waiting in line for food? No, youre not. Everyone is letting you get your food first.
You have bad time management? They'd help with that. They'll be your personal alarm clock.
You are feeling so bored and want to fidget with something? They'd let you play with their hands while they listened to Ego's damn lectures.
It's all about maintaining your attention span yet enabling you to become a better person as a whole. To improve your mental health and also make you feel that you are more than your disorder.
But, of course, they can't help but spoil you every once in a while. No biggie!

Word count: 1.1k

There he was again, restrained in the punishment room for breaking another player’s nose and since you weren’t there to keep him on his toes, he did whatever he wanted, you wouldn’t know anyway… right?
Well, now he was wide eyed and his ears turning pink when he saw you enter the room with slight concern covering your face.
“Wha- how?!” He spoke through the muzzle, trying to free from the restrains.
And how exactly you managed to get in blue lock?
“I’m tired of this brat, he’s uncontrollable…” Ego sighed as he massaged his temple.
“I was checking his files and there’s a note that says call in case of emergency with a phone number on it, should we try calling?” Anri looked at Ego, it seemed like it was their last resource.
“Let’s see who this person is then…”
When you arrived at the facility and introduced yourself properly they were both flabbergasted, even for Ego this was a big surprise when you told them you were Shidou’s partner, you were the only person he had outside of Blue Lock. You were the opposite of him, calm, kind and slightly timid, but you know what they say, opposites attract each other.
You gave Anri and Ego an embarrassed look and apologized for Shidou’s behavior, you said you’ll try to make him come to his senses if they let you talk to him and boy, they knew you weren’t playing about Shidou.
Now in present time, as you walked to Shidou and stood in front of him with crossed arms, he just looked at you like he was seeing a ghost.
“Love, did you break a player’s nose?” You looked up at him, frowning.
“That’s the first thing you are going to say? Not even hello or I missed you?” He said harshly, still heated up from the fight with that player.
“Shidou Ryusei i’m asking you a question.” You crossed your arms, remaining calm.
He flinched slightly and sighed, looking away in embarrassment. Sorry…”
Your gaze softened as you took out his muzzle, now cupping his face, gaining a subtle blush from his cheeks.
“He was provoking me! He was talking a bunch of shit!” He furrowed his eyebrows, remembering all the things that guy said.
“What did he say to make you end up here?” You tilted your head, caressing his cheeks as you tried to soothe him.
“J-just a bunch of crap, he was annoying.” He huffed and looked away, he was definitely hiding something more.
You made him look your way again and stared at him, wanting for him to open up to you. He stared back at you and his gaze faltered slightly.
“He said that… I was annoying and he didn’t know why you were with me and that you were probably a ‘freak’ too.” He huffed. Shidou didn’t care if they said something about him, but when it was about you he went full protective and aggressive mode.
You couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle. “Did you really break his nose just for calling me a freak?”
He grumbled and you could see his cheeks turning a slight tint of red.
“That’s so sweet of you actually.” You smiled softly at him, slightly squeezing his cheeks.
Shidou widened his eyes, not expecting that reaction of you. “Was it?”
“Yeah, you haven’t changed.” You chuckled softly and nodded. “Remember that time when a guy was bothering me and you also broke his nose?”
He smirked, he remembers it as if it were yesterday. “I made you a promise after all.”
You knew what promise he was referring to, no one would get in your way nor in the way of his freedom. It was a simple promise, but a very meaningful one, you were certain that Shidou didn’t play about those things.
You smiled and nodded at his words, but this time you needed to put him on his toes, you shifted your demeanor to a serious one.
“Ryu, i know you made a promise but i need you to listen to me.” You placed your hands in his shoulders, serious as ever. Making Shidou’s smirk falter a little, he never seen you this serious before.
“This is a one time opportunity for you, don’t mess it up for a stupid guy who doesn’t know anything about you or me, I don’t want you to loose your dream… your freedom.” You stared at him gripping his shoulders and trying to brought him back to his senses.
Shidou widened his eyes and it clicked. He realized he needed that, he needed you. Because a world without you or his freedom is a world he definitely doesn’t want to be in. After all, you were one of the few people who were special to him and the only one who could ‘tame’ him.
“Right…” He let out a chuckle before smirking at you. “Then I guess I’ll behave, for now.”
You pinched his cheek and gave him a stern look. “Just don’t go picking up fights.”
“Fine, fine… i’ll be a good boy~” He smirked, he was teasing you just to get a reaction out of you, but you knew he really mean it. Hell, even if you wanted to step on him he was more than pleased to let you do it.
And after all the time you’ve been together, he still got to you with his teasing and flirty comments. Being with him was never boring. “R-ryu!”
“Cute.” He grinned at you, he looked so stupidly in love with you and you couldn’t help but blush.
You sighed and smiled softly at him. “Now that my job is done here, I’ll see you later.” You nodded and kissed his cheek before starting walk away.
“Don’t go! Not even a kiss on the lips?” He called out to you, struggling with the restrains. “Please…?”
And how could you say no to your loving boyfriend with that pouty look on his face and the way his voice softened every time he talked to you, because aside from how problematic he could be on the outside you knew his true side. Nobody knows what you saw in him, but you knew him and that’s the only thing that mattered.
So you got close to him and kissed his lips, it was evident you both missed each other’s touch. Shidou’s bad mood immediately went away with your touch, he really missed this and he swore on his life he would never cause a problem that would make you go all the way to the facility again, just because you asked him to. He only cared about your thoughts.
And he kept his promise, since that day the other strikers would give him confused looks because Shidou would just flipped them off or ignored them if they provoked him.
He couldn’t loose his dream nor you.

Hope you like this!! Sorry if it’s a little short 😓
I’ve been busy with school work and stuff, I have other requests to catch on so bear with me i’m working on them!

you bring me joy; rin itoshi

synopsis — overhearing and misunderstanding a conversation between between your boyfriend and a teamate, you distance yourself, worrying him
content warning — agedup!rin, size difference, steamy kissing
a/n — i hope you guys enjoy, requests are open :)
pouring the spicy broth into a bowl, followed by the noodles, you carefully placed the bowl on the table, along with a few other dishes, turning to go get rin. he had been traveling nonstop, and while he preferred for you to come along with him, you had been busy packing up your apartment, as you would be moving in with him soon. for the next two weeks, he was given a short break to rest, before practice with the team started again — although, that simply meant practicing from home to rin.
“she's annoying as fuck, i hate that i have to see her face as much as have to already,” he sighed, as you approached his home gym. your hand sat on your heart, as you listened to his conversation. was he talking about you? you didn't even know what to possibly say to him, or how to bring up that you heard him say those words. backing away your heart pounding, as your rings began to ring, quickly, you collected your things, writing a small note, before you rushed out to your car.
“hm, she’s a bit too talkative to me personally, but i trust her judgment, even if she’s annoying,” rin mumbled, listening to isagi going on about the conference with anri.
hearing the sound of his front door shut, he straightened his posture, looking up. were you going somewhere? you swore that you would be spending the entire week with him. standing up, he walked into the dining room, the table set perfectly for two, except you were nowhere to be found, only a small note, written on a napkin.
‘i had to go, i’ll make it up to you :(’
“i’ve got to make a call isagi, i’ll talk to you later,” rin said, hanging up to call you. where did you have to go? why didn't you just tell him, so that he could come along? he wasn't the most verbal, but he missed you dearly and wanted to be in your presence all the time, perhaps that's why he was so excited about you moving in with him and leaving your job. he loved you so much, he was more than willing to fund your life, to allow you the financial freedom to just be his pretty girl.
hearing your voicemail, he pulled the phone away from his ear, staring at it in confusion. clearing his throat, he furrowed his eyebrows slightly, thinking of what to say.
“i just got your note, where did you go without eating first? call me back,” he said, ending the call, before sitting at the table. his favorite dishes, you cooked his favorite foods and yet you weren’t even here to enjoy them while they were fresh. he would wait for you, it was the least he could do. you shouldn’t take too long anyway.
“who’s calling?” you croaked.
“rinagain,” hana, your friend said, watching as you took the phone, declining the call. she was the only friend you knew he couldn’t reach out to, being that he didn’t know her.
“y/n, you don’t think you should communicate how you feel to him?” she asked.
“if you wanted me to leave, just say that,” you mumbled, making her laugh.
“you of all people know that i don’t care about you being here, i’m just worried about you. you’ve been with him for nearly two years now, and the way that you talk about him, it’s obvious you love him and i think he loves you too. he has called you a million times, he has made you a stay-at-home girlfriend, and he wants you to move in with him, and he is an asshole from the interviews i’ve seen, so if he’s doing all of this for you, then it’s real”
“hana-
“let me finish. what you have is one in a million, and even if it isn't, you deserve to know what was said so that you can move on with your life, or work through your issues together,” she said, reminding you of a mother when your phone rang again.
“answer it,” she mouthed, walking away. sitting up, you stared at his contact, before accepting the call.
“hel-
“open the door, or i am kicking it down,” he spoke immediately.
“what?”
“open the fucking door or i will kick it down,” he spat.
“i'm not at home”
“where are you? turn back on your location, what is your problem? i haven't heard from you a four fucking days, do you know how worried you had me?”
“i can meet you at your place”
“you didn't answer me-
“bye,” you said, hanging up, and turning your phone off.
“how did it go?” she asked, peaking from her room.
“i’m going to meet him at his place,” you said, awkwardly going to her guest room to change.
rin paced the floor, trying to wrap his head around what was even going on. hearing the sound of your key unlocking the door, he rushed over, unlocking and swinging the door open, staring at you.
you looked exhausted, you had been crying, your eyes puffy, your arms wrapped around your waist. as he stepped forward, he froze as you backed away. had he done something to make you cower away from his touch?
“y/n”
“i am only here for closure”
“what are you talking about?” he resisted the urge to frown, as you passed by him.
“we should stop seeing each other, rin, i’m so annoying and you can hardly stand to see my face, why waste either of our times, so i just want to get my things, so i can move forward,” you said, your heart shattering as he lowered his head. he couldn’t even look at you, maybe he didn’t care.
your mind drifted to earlier in your relationship, how everyone questioned what you saw in him other than his looks or potential as a soccer player. you were so bubbly, while he could be the harshest person in the room.
“did you seriously think i was talking about you?” he suddenly asked, making you glare at him, prepared to yell, but you stopped when you noticed the glistening in his eyes.
“i've been worried four days straight, calling you, your friends, your mother, and this is because you thought i called you annoying, i wasn't even talking about you,” he continued, as he stared into your eyes.
“if not me, then who?”
“anri teieri, she insists that isagi and i answer the majority of the questions during our next press meeting, which is annoying because she knows they will ask me personal questions about myself and you,” he said, as you looked shocked.
“tch, we’re not breaking up-
“i was so worried, i couldn’t understand what i did wrong, i thought i was being a bad partner,” you said, making his stern expression soften. reaching for your waist, he pulled you closer, as you looked down in embarrassment.
“i love you, but there is no way, i would be with someone, or even move in with someone i found to be an annoying npc. i want to wake up to you every day, to bring you with me when i travel, you…you bring me joy, do you understand?” he said, as he towered over you.
“yes, i love you too, i’m sorry for worrying you,” you whispered, almost in tranced by his beautiful eyes and lashes.
“good, when are you coming back to me, from where you’ve been?” he asked.
“i was with hana, a friend from childhood, when did you want me back?“ your voice cracked, as you stared at his lips.
“today”
not saying another word, he pulled you closer, pressing his lips against your own. feeling your knees buckling, he began to lift you, your legs going around his waist, his large hands resting on your ass. slipping his tongue into your mouth, he squeezed your bottom, as you moaned. your fingers going to his soft hair, desiring to have him closer than close.
going to sit you on the table, he groaned, as you pressed against his bulge, whimpering to be touched, and he was internally debating with himself if he would give in. you were his pretty girl after all, he may have been a dick to many, but he would comply to anything that was uttered from your beautiful lips. you were his everything, he wished he’d met you sooner, you were the first person to point out how there was no reason for him to have such a serious rivalry with sae. it was you who invited the both of them to lunch, in hopes that they would bond. the most supportive at his games, making sure he would notice you in the crowd. it crushed his soul, thinking about the idea of you leaving him, over a misunderstanding.
“you’re not upset with me, are you?” you broke the kiss, staring into his eyes. he stared at you, a dark red tint on his cheeks, before laying his head on your shoulders.
“no, i’d prefer if you came to me, instead of disappearing,” he mumbled before he began peppering small kisses along your neck to your collarbone.
“rin,” you moaned lowly, wrapping your arms around his neck, as he groaned against your lips.
“take me to bed,” you said, your heart fluttering as he nodded, picking you up, and carrying you to your bedroom.
he would take you to bed, he was sure of it, lavishing you with every ounce of his love. he would make sure you felt every inch, to make sure you understood how special you were to him, how deep he could go, to prove it to you. there was no amount of words to describe how much he loved you. the apple of his eyes, the princess of joy. his joy.

“fuuuckk… you’re so good to me baby..”
you press your head into his neck, peppering small kisses along his collarbone.
“hah-ha.. is this your way of thanking me?”
you can’t help but smile at his words, his hands tangle into your hair pulling you closer.
“you’re so warm y’know?”
he slowly moves your hands to your hips, keeping you bouncing on his shaft.
“soo.. glad that date stood you up”
he softly pecks a kiss to your cheek, moving down to your neck. you can barely respond, he’s just wayy too deep inside you! his hand moves to your stomach pressing on the bulge.
“just.. too big for you hm, your cunt is just begging for me right now…”
he laughs softly squeezing your hips, lifting your hips up again.
“yeah.. you’re too b-!“
your insides are immediately rearranged with one thrust.
“ahh.. fuckk..”
you look up at him, holding onto his biceps.
“i- i want more aiku..”
in a few seconds, oliver presses your back against the car seat. his hands keeping your legs pressed up to your chest. he quickly kisses your clit, licking up your juices.
“let’s do more then.. shall we?”
he lines himself against you, slowly teasing you with his tip. thrusting fully inside you when you start whining about how empty your stomach feels without, his finger pressing on the bulge on your stomach.

breaking the internet

chapter two Hiori discovers Miss Journalist might be a loyal fan of his — and learns the hard way that stalking someone on Winstagram can quickly get complicated. blue lock longfic series pairing hiori yo x reader contains slow slow slow burn, post blue lock timeskip, afab!reader angst, fluff, very hiori yo centric piece, reader is big hiori fangirl i guess masterlist
A few days later, Hiori noticed Bastard München’s group chat buzzing on his way to training. In just a couple of days, your article he had stumbled upon gained traction, spreading quickly among fans and media circles.
To his surprise, the team’s marketing team seized the opportunity to reshape the narrative to their advantage. They shared the article on the team’s official social media account, tagging you, with the caption: “Big W, thanks @/yn_offthepage for the awesome feature! We appreciate the support and dedication from all fans as we push forward this season. Don’t count us out yet!”
The reaction was immediate and electric. Fans who had been hesitant—some even critical—now rallied behind the team. Comments flooded in, sparking a renewed sense of hope for the Kaiser-less Bastard München. It was as if your article had breathed life back into a disheartened fanbase, bringing a spark of energy and support that the team badly needed.
By mid-day, another notification caught Hiori’s attention—a link to an old podcast clip that had resurfaced from an episode a few weeks prior to the start of the season. He opened it, surprised to see that you had been a featured guest in Anri Teieri and Ego Jinpachi’s Japanese Football Association podcast show.
The video began with the three of you sitting around a cluttered table with JFA signage and merch. Anri wore her usual JFA-branded polo shirt, and Ego wore a dark dress shirt paired with his signature bolo tie.
You, however, were dressed more casually this time—casual but sporty. You donned a simple oversized tracksuit jacket and pants, with your messy bun adding an almost charming touch to your appearance. Your cheeks were lightly dusted with blush, and somehow looked radiant under the studio’s lights.
The podcast attracted attention quickly, and for good reason. The topic of discussion? The top three teams to watch that season. When Anri posed the question to you, Hiori hadn’t been prepared for your bold and quick response: Bastard München. The choice raised an eyebrow from Ego, who clearly hadn’t been expecting it.
In the next few seconds, you defended your choice with a blend of sharp analysis and an unexpected warmth.
“Bastard München may have their flaws,” you explained, “but this season is about more than just winning. They’re rebuilding, and that means everyone now has a chance to shape the team’s dynamics in a way we haven’t seen before. It’s exciting because of how the team chooses to play things out this season can make or break them.”
As Hiori watched the clip, he couldn’t suppress a slight smile. The way you spoke about Bastard München struck a chord.
Your words weren’t just empty praise. They held conviction, a belief in their potential that was oddly reassuring. It reminded him of why he played, of the love for the game that had gotten buried under expectations and pressure.
“Think of it this way,” you continued, “just like in the Blue Lock project, players are forged through fire and brimstone, transforming into better versions of themselves. But this time, it’s not just individuals. It’s a whole team, shaping their destiny together. Aside from snide fan remarks, the only limiting factor to their potential growth is themselves, with the season a ticking time bomb hovering over their heads. This is where real egoists evolve.”
Not many sports personalities, especially journalists, would have taken the risk of showing open support for a team with uncertain prospects.
She a Noel Noa fan? he wondered.
Regardless, he hadn’t expected to feel that weight behind your statement, but something about it felt... right.
At practice later that day, the clip had gone fully viral. So viral that the team’s sly marketing team couldn’t resist showing it to the squad. And like clockwork, during their break, Coach Noa and the marketing manager flagged down the sweaty athletes and gathered them in the locker room to watch the podcast clip.
The team crowded around the big TV, and as they watched, Hiori felt the atmosphere shift. The weight of their previous defeats seemed to lift. Your public support for Bastard München—the way you called them the team to watch out for this season—was like kindling to their dying embers.
Even without looking at each other, they can feel that there’s a newfound determination settling within them. Even Greisner’s grumpy self got visibly pumped, his potty mouth running nonstop, but in a good way.
Watching his teammates respond to the clip reaffirmed what he’d felt earlier. But it was Hiori who felt the impact the most. Your conviction, your words, as if everything was directed to him.
This wasn’t just about the praise; it was about being seen, understood, in a way he hadn’t known they needed. Your words had done more than lift him; they’d awakened the fire within the entire team, making them feel, for the first time in a while, like they were exactly where they were meant to be.
But what surprised Hiori was the next clip that Coach Noa played.
The clip showed Anri bringing out an exaggeratedly large whiteboard titled “Ego’s Top Player Watch List”.
It showed a list of the top ten players to watch this season, paired with a comically drawn cartoon face of a player beside their name. It listed high-profile names and football stars everyone was expecting to see. The usual suspects—Julian Loki, Michael Kaiser, Shidou Ryuusei, the Itoshi Brothers—were all there.
But you interrupted Ego’s explanation mid-sentence.
“Not to be rude, but this looks like a ‘super fan’s’ wet dream.”
The team erupted in laughter. Hiori could hear Anri snort in the background, trying to cover it up with a cough after getting a stink eye from Ego himself.
Even Coach Noa couldn’t help himself, letting out a low chuckle at that unfiltered comment about his former brother-in-arms.
The camera panned to Ego, whose face was now a mix of curiosity and provocation. Through gritted teeth, he said, emphasizing every syllable of every word, “Is that so? What makes you say that, Y/N-chan?"
Realizing how rude that sounded, you bowed profusely, the tips of your ears red from the embarrassment. “I’m sorry! That came out wrong!”
“What I mean is, these are the players that football fanboys usually rattle off,” you said, catching yourself a bit too late. You just called Ego a fanboy. You winced but pressed on.
“These are the stereotypical names everyone expects to hear. But there are so many others who are just as impactful in their own way. Players like Nanase Nijiro, Niko Ikki, Agi, Miroku Darai, Alexis Ness …”, and for a second, you visibly, faltered, hesitating.
But you continued with a smile, “... and Hiori Yo, to name a few.”
“Oooh, that’s some hot take you’ve got there, Y/N-chan.” Anri laughed. “Also, two players from Bastard München?”
“So I’m guessing your favorite player is from the German club then?” Ego pried as he erased names on the board to replace them with Alexis Ness, Agi, and Hiori Yo’s names.
“Is it that obvious?” You chuckled. “Actually, let me show you.”
The team’s eyes were glued to the screen as you started unzipping your tracksuit jacket and revealed a Bastard München black jersey with the big bold gold number on the front.
Jersey number 23.
Hiori Yo’s jersey number.
His jersey.
“Ooooh!” The team erupted in laughter and teasing as they eyed Hiori, who was clearly stunned by the sudden reveal.
And it didn’t stop there.
“He’s a strategist both on and off the field. A true genius." You leaned forward, eyes bright with conviction.
“Everyone’s always focused on the strikers, but for me, midfielders steal the show. Playmaking is the heart of football; without midfielders to anchor the team, you’d just have chaos and confusion. Don’t get me wrong, I love the excitement that forwards like Julian Loki bring. But midfielders like Hiori Yo have their own kind of charm, a different thrill.”
Your voice softened, your gaze momentarily distant, as if lost in thought. “There’s something mesmerizing about the way they read the game, anticipating moves before anyone else sees them. They make football more dynamic, more unpredictable. What’s not to like, right?”
You paused, catching your breath, and glanced around, realizing you rambled on. Anri and Ego exchanged amused glances, clearly entertained by your enthusiasm. Hiori watched as you tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear, cheeks flushed as if you'd suddenly remembered you weren't alone.
It was clear you’d been watching him closely, noticing the subtleties of his play that often went unnoticed. And for a moment, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride.
As the clip ended, the locker room broke out in playful whistles, the whole Bastard München jeering at Hiori. Grins and knowing looks flew his way, as they egged him on this surprising development.
“Look at you, Hiori,” Ndiaye teased, nudging him. “Got yourself a fangirl.”
Hiori felt his cheeks grow warm as he tried to hide a small smile. But something stirred within him. Was it validation? Recognition? He couldn’t quite tell.
“Who wouldn’t like Hiori? He’s, like, the ultra-sadist.” Isagi laughed as he elbowed Hiori on the side.
“Ah, shaddap, that was ages ago,” Hiori laughed, shoving him back. “But this ultra-sadist ain’t passin’ to ya if ya play like crap next match!”
“Damn, so cruel, so mean, Hiori.” Kunigami said.
“Guess it’s just my charm, eh?” Hiori grinned as he gracefully dodged a playful jab from a pouty, jealous Igarashi.
“Lucky! I’d kill for a fan in the press, so unfair.” Raichi groaned, casting a jealous look at Hiori.
Theo Sachs draped his arm around Raichi and said, “I doubt Miss Y/N would even write about you, even if you’re the master striker. You gotta be smart, not a smartass.”
“Plus, if we’re judging the team, you’d probably come in just above Igarashi at the bottom.” Yukimiya chimed in, laughing. “Even Gagamaru’s got a better shot at landing a cute fan.” Gagamaru simply huffed in smug satisfaction.
A loud clap broke their chaos as they heard Coach Noa clear his throat. “Alright, that’s enough. This is good publicity, yes, but remember, this puts all eyes on us for the next few matches. So don’t slack off. We’ve got a chance to prove them wrong, and I expect every one of you to play like it.”
The team erupted in shouts and cheers, clearly energized by the encouragement in the video. It might not have seemed like much, but having someone voice their confidence in Bastard Munchen out there for everyone to see lifted their spirits and boosted morale in a way they hadn’t expected.
Football players are so single-minded, Hiori chuckled to himself.
The team dispersed as Coach Noa dismissed them with a wave, nodding with certainty at Hiori before heading to the field. The rest of the team scattered, eager to enjoy the rest of their break before afternoon training resumed.
He watched them go, but his mind lingered on the clip and on you.
Hiori felt a strange warmth unfurl in his chest. You weren't focused on the typical names, the usual flashy strikers; you spoke about the heart of the game, the grind, the transformation.
And when you mentioned the midfielders—the players who built the game from the ground up, who connected every move and controlled the chaos on the field—it felt like you were talking directly to him.
He couldn’t remember the last time someone had seen that side of his role, had recognized the way he approached the game. He felt seen—not for his skill or his stats, but for the way he played, for the choices he made on the field.
This wasn’t validation from his parents or praise from a coach. This was different. It was like a piece of himself he’d almost forgotten was gently being uncovered again. And in that moment, Hiori realized he wasn’t just another player on the field. He was Hiori Yo, a player with his own way of seeing the game—and you understood it.
Hiori replayed the clip, slipping on his earphones as he sank onto an empty bench under the shade. He let the image of you in his jersey burn into the back of his mind. And that smile.
This feels damn good, huh?
It was strange. Most people dismissed his approach to the game as too quiet, too calculated. But you understood it, and that understanding warmed him from the inside out, like a light he didn’t want to fade.
Without a thought, he checked your Winstagram account he had bookmarked. He scrolled down further before stopping as he spotted the picture he had been looking for. He clicked on it, and it showed him a carousel of images from that podcast episode. He did linger a little longer on a candid photo of you in his jersey.
He tried to zoom in, double tapping the image. “Ah, shit.” he muttered, as a heart-shaped “like” notification popped up instead.
In a panic, his fingers moved before he could even think about it. His heart raced as he tapped it continuously, unliking it, then tapped it again, liking it once more.
He froze, realizing that what he had done probably made things worse.
“Well… no goin’ back now, huh?” With a soft chuckle, he hit the follow button before stashing his phone in his bag and jogging back to the field, a smile playing on his lips.
While in the middle of researching a story, you were drenched in sweat as your phone blew up with notifications. The JFA podcast going viral definitely wasn’t on your to-do list today. While the clip's popularity was undoubtedly a career boost for a budding sports journalist like you, the attention was overwhelming.
Many praised you for your insightful take on the team and Hiori, but others labeled you an overzealous fan, clinging to idealistic views. As you scrolled through the messages and comments, a creeping anxiety settled in.
Was your conviction really misplaced? Maybe you should’ve just mentioned PXG, like the other “normal” fans.
Instead, you had blurted out your admiration for Bastard Munchen—and, to make it worse, wore the jersey of your favorite player on camera.
What was I thinking, showing that off in a recorded video? So stupid.
As you scrolled further, a few off-the-rails comments caught your eye:
When she talked about Hiori, she gloooowed.
Hiori Yo's biggest fangirl confirmed?
Your face flushed, a mix of embarrassment and something else, something unexpected. You quickly swiped past the post, your heart pounding. Was it really that obvious? The beating in your chest wouldn't go away.
Your moment of procrastination was interrupted by a series of Winstagram notifications popping up on your screen.
hioyi_yo23 liked a post. hioyi_yo23 liked a post. hioyi_yo23 started following you.
“Shit. Shit, shit shit shit shit. What now?!” You choked on your iced latte and scrambled to open the notification.
You couldn’t tell if the universe was playing some twisted prank on you. Because when you saw what photo Hiori Yo—Bastard Munchen’s midfielder, jersey number 23, THE HIORI YO HIMSELF—had liked, it felt like the entire world had just shifted on its axis.
It was your photo, wearing his jersey. He saw. He watched the clip. And he knew your Winstagram account.
Wait—did he like it and un-like it?
You quickly opened his profile, you fingers trembling. His account was a stark contrast to yours. There was barely anything personal—just a handful of Bastard Munchen-related posts, a few photos of teammates and friends, and some glimpses of his personal life, like the computer games he played or events he attended.
Everything was cryptic, like the man himself, showing only fragments of his life.
“Well, here goes nothing,” you muttered, butterflies exploding in her stomach as you tapped the follow button.
You stared at the screen for a moment, holding you breath. A smile tugged at your lips as you read it again: hiori_yo23 follows you.
