If you already want to know what GenShin (or at least their writing team) thinks about generative AI, then check out the dialogue of the Daily Commission questline titled "Garcia's Paean"

TLDR; You help this Fontaine researcher, Garcia, build what seems to be a calculator at first, but then later Garcia works on the machine further and makes it capable of generating recipes and music via algorithms. He then uses this machine to generate a song for Kaia, a theater singer that he has a crush on, but he laments that the song the machine made sounds terrible. The questline ends with Kaia loving the thought behind the gift and promising that she will take the generated song and work on it to make something that sounds beautiful.

The questline doesn't explicitly mention generative AI, but it is exceedingly obvious that that's what the writers had in mind for the machine, and the Fontanian's pursuit to create such a machine is presented via a romantic plot that drives him to keep working on his machine to impress the singer he has a crush on.

I don't think I've actually done that comm yet, or if I did I don't remember - I'm not super invested in all the NPC stories but they can be pretty interesting. im a bit disappointed but not surprised that they'd take it as this cool developing thing

ive noticed hoyo has been adding a lot of stuff related to generative AI (obviously highly fictional intelligent ai/stuff that's not built on plagiarism is a different matter) and crypto and sometimes it's unclear whether they worship the stuff or still want to be critical/use it as a meme, like in the hydro eidolon quest it was kind of a hopeful view of things viewing it as a rly cool process just in its infancy, while with liben when he gets involved in crypto and becomes broke it's a hahafunny or w/e

obviously I'm on the side of hoping that examples that r too literal to the rl discussions show it in a negative light or show potential dangers and issues, so I'm interested to see where they go w this, but every time I think abt it I just hear that one genshin social media challenge where we had to beg el0n to follow their el0n namesake twitter account and how embarrassing that was as a fan to look at and I'm just like....💀
