Since you put so much thought into analyzing ATEEZ when you write your fics, would you mind giving a brief rundown of where you think they fall on the dom/switch/sub spectrum?

thoughts on this can be found under the cut, but a little disclaimer at the top — i am only providing my headcanons, that doesn’t mean i’m right or that your interpretation of one of the members as something else is incorrect. i would say this mostly informs how i think they probably are and how i write their characters in my fic, but it definitely is just me playing around in the imagination sandbox please don’t take offense!

also when we talk dorm/sub/switch, i want to be clear that as someone familiar with actual bdsm dynamics, these terms are thrown around pretty liberally and far too often. by that i mean, someone who’s a little bossy during sex doesn’t automatically equal a ‘dom’ in the proper sense and may not be comfortable with that term. however, for the fun purposes of my fic and this ask, we’re going to explore theses terms with the idea that the members could have the potential for it, not necessarily that this is what they are actively doing / engaging in.

alright…… hard thoughts below for each member including headcanon, kink list, and what pet names you call him/he calls you. i’ll happily dive into more into any of the thoughts below, feel free to send me an ask.

one last note - i use the terms man, woman, fem presenting, masc presenting, etc. but i want to be clear i try to be very trans inclusive and queer inclusive in general. while i write the boys always in a relationship with a fem presenting reader because i am a cis woman, that does not mean i am saying they as individuals are heterosexual and only attracted to cis women. i have no idea, this is fiction, and i’d never presume their actual real life sexuality so strongly. however, i am more comfortable writing from my perspective, so if you see that in my work or in my headcanons below please understand it’s not to be exclusionary i’m probably just navel gazing a bit too much. in the pet names section i do stick to things like ‘good girl’ etc. that may imply sexuality but that’s mostly as a representation of my own writing canon.

hongjoong - switch, leaning dominant;

hongjoong to me is such a switch, but i think he takes naturally towards the dominant role. i think a lot of people mistake his demon line stage presence for like…. crazy hard dom though and i could not disagree more. i think he’s actually more the type to switch up based on his partner’s needs and wants, but most often and most comfortably fills a dom role. however, in this dom role i see him far more as a service dom or soft dom, i don’t think with what we know about hongjoong as a person and how he interacts with the world around him he would be much of a hard dom that actually wanted to inflict hard rules or even dip into sadism. the most i could see is when his partner is being bratty or when he’s playfully jealous he would spank a bit or use teasing words to get his partner to say something in response. i think all in all, he’s the type to want to make his partner feel good, but he enjoys being in control and would want to give his partner instructions as a natural leader in that way. he could give up control to the right person, but i just think that’s a little less natural for him.

seonghwa - switch, gender dependent;

seonghwa is so interesting to me because i feel like his potential suits the whole spectrum. i have written him many different ways and see him many different ways, and so often it feels right, he’s a true chameleon. that’s why i think he is a switch, but i’m saying gender dependent because i think he likely takes more naturally to one direction depending on the gender presentation of the partner he is with. no hard and fast rules here, obviously everyone is unique, but as a general rule i’d say that with women/fem presenting people he skews more dominant, and with men/masc presenting people he skews more submissive. that being said, exceptions exist and i could see him going either way on that sliding scale dependent on partner. i would say for submisssive he would be the type to service, begging to pleasure his partner and enjoying the total submission of that headspace, potentially even enjoying some elements of restraint or pain on himself. for his dominant side, i think out of anyone in ateez he has the true potential for hard dom sadist, though that would require a partner to match him in intensity. i think he would excel in role playing and slipping into a true dominant persona, controlling his submissive entirely (within the bedroom and perhaps a little outside it), and would be able to manage the intense dynamics of sadomasochism well from delivering pain to exploring limits to very tender aftercare.

first of all, this man is my ult bias and i could write a novel about this, i’m trying to restrain myself. if anyone wants unfettered yunho thoughts lmk…… but truly, and i will die on this hill, while the sub yunho agenda is cute i just do not buy it. this man is 100% dominant, it’s just a question of where he falls on that dominance scale. i think there’s a lot of evidence for this that i can get into in a separate post, but my headcanon is that he’s a classic soft dom at least as a baseline. he’s the kind of dom who considers himself a guiding hand to his submissive. he’s caring, thoughtful, always anticipating needs and clearing the path for his submissive, and in bed that means he’s providing all of the opportunities for his submissive to explore within the safe bounds of his control. however, with the right person i think he has the real potential to reach hard dom levels where he is experimenting with degradation, some amount of pain play (though i do think full sadism is a bit far for him), bondage and control, and playing with pleasure from a denial and overstim angle. he’s also very clearly traditional in many aspects, and while i am not sitting here saying that means he’s sexist (absolutely not) i do think that means he would be turned on by more traditional elements. i.e. his partner in skirts, heels, lingerie, etc. i think with the right partner that also opens up his ability to play with different kinks and dynamics that might fall into that like free use, breeding, etc.

yeosang to me is such a sleeper dom. i think he’s hard to read in general, but after years of paying attention to him as i tried to write him, to me he really reads as more of a dominant in a sexual relationship, but definitely from the pleasure/service side of things. i don’t know that he would want to really control aspect’s of his submissive’s life outside the bedroom or perceive himself necessarily to be some kind of guiding figure or punishing figure, but i do think he would relish in giving his submissive pleasure and relief. i think yeosang would want to be the type of partner his submissive could just collapse into at the end of the day and receive whatever kind of care they need. he’s quietly making tea, he’s reminding you to drink your water, he’s easing you into bed with a massage and letting you forget the day as he takes care of you completely. i think in some extremes that leads to him not even really thinking about his own pleasure, he seeks to service his partner and that alone makes him happy. i can see him being the kind of dom who teases a little, but from a kind angle, and just knowing how soft and innocent ateez members perceive him to be, i don’t think there would be much room for meanness or pain with him.

this man is a giver. i cannot express this enough, which is why i added the pleasure lean. i actually think he’s quite similar to yunho in the sense that he’s rather traditional, and within the bounds of at least a het relationship, would take his position as the man of the relationship very seriously. yunho and san both are the types of guys who would spoil their partner, and like being the caretaker, however i think in san’s case he would enjoy the pleasure angle far more than anything else and would not be comfortable with engaging in harder aspects of play with his partner. i truly think if you watch the way he caretakes it’s much softer, and if you listen to the way he speaks about women it’s far more from the angle of protector. my gut says you’d have to convince this man to spank you, so just naturally he falls into the soft dom role of guiding hand plus pleasure dom where he’s focused heavily on delivering pleasure and guiding his submissive through that pleasurable experience. i think he’s the type to set up a really romantic scene - rose petals on the bed, warm bath, champagne, etc. and just worship his partner for hours on end. he of course is going to fuck his partner eventually, but good god does he want to just spend so long touching and massaging and getting every little ounce of pleasure out of them first.

mingi… mingi… mingi. this man is such a mystery and yet wears his heart on his sleeve. similar to seonghwa i say he’s a switch but it kind of depends on the gender presentation of his partner. i think you can see this in the ways mingi interacts with the world. with women in general i see him turn on the swagger, and lean at least on the surface a bit more dominant, i could see him slotting into the role of taking the lead quite easily. with men, particularly with yunho though, you can see that he gets much softer, whinier, giggly, and truly has the potential to be submissive. my real guess is that he is a submissive leaning person regardless of gender, but it comes more naturally to him with a man (especially one as obviously dominant as yunho), that being said, with the right female/fem presenting partner, i think he could easily be submissive there too if that partner was properly leading the situation. i could see him being the begging type, pleading with his dominant to service them, and happy to really let himself sink into that headspace. but if he’s with a partner that needs him to step up and take the lead, i think he’d happily do that too which is why i think he’s very switchy.

this man is the switchiest switch i’ve ever seen and i cannot accept anything less. he’s such a brat, but i want to emphasize that i think that means he could be bratty from either the dom or sub position and it’s entirely dependent on his partner. i think wooyoung is the type that bends himself for someone else to be accommodating, and honestly i see a lot of myself in him and vice versa, and we have very similar star charts so stay with me here. i don’t mean that in a negative way of course, but what i think wooyoung excels at is reading people and adjusting to their needs, so i think this would translate into the bedroom too. i think he’s the type to step up and lead if needed but the minute his partner takes a firmer hand he’s letting that shit roll and seeing where it goes. it makes him exceptionally fun to write tbh. i think wooyoung when being more dominant would be the teasing type, making playful fun of his partner while he delivers pleasure, almost goading them into coming. and i think when being submissive he rolls right into whining - the type to beg to come but listen attentively if their partner wanted to edge him. i think would be the perfect match for another switch because they could constantly be dynamic shifting and changing together and really explore so many aspects of themselves that way.

in the same way that yunho and san read traditional to me, so does jongho. again, not in a problematic way, but in the way that he takes a dominant position in the relationship and seeks a partner who wants that kind of care. while i think all three of them would want a parter who is very dominant/in control in aspects of their career etc., i think being that person’s safe space to give up control is something they all want. so in that way, jongho reads truly dominant to me and is one of the only members of ateez to give the potential for hard dom, again, depending on his partner’s needs. i think he also acts as the guiding hand, he’s traditional in that he likes to pay for things etc., and would ultimately engage in softer aspects of control in the bedroom. however, if his partner really responded well to things like punishment and stricter guidelines, i think he would excel as a hard dom. i can really see him having a partner crawl to him, be waiting submissively on their knees for him, allow him to use them / benefit from actual punishment like counting spanks etc. and so generally i think while he may not need this kind of a relationship, if his partner did he would rise really well to that occasion because it comes more naturally.

The Mysterious Mysteries of Mr Sir Crocodile (Character Analysis)

(Apologies in advance for discrepancies from my usual tone and for holding off on everyone who voted for this on my last poll. Honest to God I hope y'all enjoy this in some capacity because I've been procrastinating on this meta so long it's derailed ALL my other One Piece writing and I only accomplished it through addy-fuelled mania)

This was such a fucking pain to write. I really wanted to say something about Crocodile and what makes him so fascinating that wasn't like, another fan theory or just a set of headcanons, but that's easier said than done?? We could boil it down to immaculate design, screen presence, attitude, or just the fact that he got brought back as an unlikely ally who shocked everyone by saving the protagonist, but I don't know that those factors in and of themselves make for a villain who's become such an object of fandom obsession.

Whatever it is, it's certainly not backstory or depth, because 24 years and hundreds and hundreds of chapters after his introduction, we still know nothing about Sir Crocowani's past beyond a vague confrontation with the Late Great Edward Newgate (that apparently like, ruined his dreams or something?), and some totally-not-just-a-threat-to-out-him-if-he-betrayed-the-alliance blackmail material the Queen of the Queers is holding over his sandy reptilian ass. I was born and grew into adulthood in the time it took Oda to tell the world fuck all about where he's from or his inner thoughts, or his actual honest motivations and traumas.

All we have about this character are questions. Why did he save Luffy and Ace –very conspicuously after both of their lineages were revealed to the world– against all logic and reason? Does he have ties to the revolutionaries? Is he the long-lost son of Rocks D. Xebec? Did he bounce on Comrade Dragon's Monkey D and squirt out the fucking Warrior of Liberation? I assume Oda's going to tell us more about him, but at this point, he's managed to keep a tighter lid on Sir Crocs, Inc.'s past than the fucking Secret History

You may be wondering, dear reader: what the fuck is my point? What is there, at this final stage of Long Running Pirate Manga, for me–Frankie EroGuroNonsense, OP Tumblr Community Z-lister with like, 7 mildly popular meta posts under my belt–to write about the legendary Sir Krokorok that hasn't already been said or theorized? What eagle-eyed observations did I make while rereading Alabasta and writing toxic Crobin fanfic? Am I going anywhere with this? Sorta. Yeah.

Let's start with listing things we actually know about Crockpot, in roughly chronological (??) order: –attended Gol D.'s execution way back when he was my age, along with anyone else who's anyone from his generation.

–At some point, met and was known well enough by Iva that she could effectively blackmail him

–Made it far enough on the Grand Line, somehow getting to the New World, and managed to pick up an 81,000,000 bounty (low end for a warlord, presumably scouted fairly early in his career)

–Wanted to be Pirate King until he gave up on it, not 100% explicitly confirmed but most likely due to getting his ass beat so badly by Whitebeard that he settled for picking off small fry and racketeering behind a government desk job. This makes him profoundly relatable to the rest of us depressed fucking losers who acquiesce to our own mediocrity.

–At 30, after presumably licking his wounds for a hot minute, sets up shop in Alabasta, comes up with a clever evil plan to quietly build up enough arms to conquer the world with a WMD, and then gets his years-long bioterrorist coup attempt foiled by a 17-year-old.

The rest we know: after a brief moment of glory as the unsung MVP of Impel Down/Marineford, he immediately reverts to Failguy Mode, gives all his money to a literal clown, and consequently gets roped into the neverending uncontrollable PR nightmare that is Cross Guild. It's still super vague and we know little to nothing about his past before the Alabasta Saga (for all we know he had a fling with King Cobra)

...Onto his personality and mannerisms. This shit's a lot more revealing. Superficially, he's everything: immaculate Bond villain levels of charismatic villainy, unbelievably ostentatious, dripped out like a Pimp, constantly smoking cigars, absolutely dripping with smugness and grease and disdain. Owns exotic pets and a giant casino, and spends every waking moment either grinning like a maniac when he's got the upper hand or storming around in a fucking mood when anything goes mildly wrong.

He's also pretty hardened underneath all that, obviously couldn't have lived a day on the grand line or survived Impel Down Torture otherwise. But even in Alabasta, Crockery gives off an air of being distinctly more grounded and willing to get his hands dirty than other flashy, established villains who flaunt their wealth and status. A big part of it is just his really hyper-masculine indomitable tough guy persona, but even early on he's very much micromanaging his operation, fighting people hand to hand in (as opposed to, say, Doffy, who literally puppeteers people while lounging around) and makes a point to keep almost all of his followers at a distance and rely on them as little as possible. He rants a bit about how dreams and whatnot are pointless follies, as One Piece antagonists tend to do, and repeatedly taunts Vivi about how her idealism can't save her, but with the context that he wanted to find Laughtale himself, it feels a lot like projection.

The character trait that's harped on a LOT in canon, and probably the most pertinent one to whatever demons he has, is Croconaw's profound pathological distrust for everyone around him. It's a huge part of what makes him a good early foil to the Nefertari family and the Straw Hats, whose collective strength is derived from organic human connection; Crocalor, by contrast, makes sure that up until the very last moment, he keeps most of his people so distant from him that they genuinely have no idea he's even their boss. His relationship with Robin is interesting, but he turns on her immediately when he realizes she either can't or won't give him the location of Pluton and has his dramatic stabbing/"I forgive you" lines about how he never trusted her or anyone from the start. He says the same shit to Mihawk when he suggests they join forces, even citing their mutual distrust as a kind of paradoxical justification for why they'd actually work well together.

Arguably the only exception is Daz Bones, but even that relationship is still a pretty reserved one; one of the few traits Daz exhibits is a similar avoidance of human connections to his boss and even though they've ironically formed a bond despite it, I can't imagine that they're emotionally close. I find these more explicit declarations of paranoia a lot less indicative of what's actually going on in Croconut's head than subtext, but I feel inclined to mention them just because it more or less tells us that his background/trauma has something to do either with betrayal or alternatively just being jaded and deprived to the point of self-isolation.

Krookodile's character gets a little bit more interesting when we get to see him again in Impel Down being a smug little manipulative rascal right up until he gets blackmailed by his endocrinologist, which is definitely medical malpractice but also funny as hell. I also appreciate that literally the first thing he does after getting out of his cell is change into a big coat and cravat to keep up appearances, but it's not until Marineford proper that things get really complicated. Saving Luffy and Ace is the first selfless thing we see Crobat do–while yelling at Luffy that he needs to protect what matters to him properly, no less– and he just keeps fighting for them after that, teaming up with his most hated rival crew to cover Luffy's retreat and telling the entire WG to go fuck itself multiple times over. He fights everyone on sight with no regard for his own safety, talks mad shit to Doffy, and demonstrates a genuinely compelling amount of honest to god chivalry.

For a short time, we see Crocomotive less as a really entertaining cartoon villain and more as a person with hidden, profound emotions and a confusing moral code that's seemingly incompatible with the vicious little creature we met in Alabasta. We come to understand, in a few very brief lines that give us way more questions than answers, that Cromagnon has deep-seated, emotional convictions he actively suppresses, and that whatever baggage he has is probably tied to wanting to or failing to save something of his own. His resentment of Newgate, who he really really wants to have a go at (despite theoretically no longer caring about the ambitions of his youth) is indicative of a desire to revisit the fight that probably ruined his dream and ego, but it's also tinged with a deep-seated grudging respect for a living legend.

Crock–Afire Explosion's obvious seething hatred of Doffy also gives us a few more insights into what's wrong with him. On a surface level, it makes sense that he dislikes a profoundly obnoxious, even flashier fellow warlord who achieved more or less the same goal he set out to in a shorter time, fucks with his business, and then mocks him/tries to recruit him right after his very public defeat and imprisonment. He postures a lot, especially with his lines insisting he's on a higher level and that Doffy could only ever join him as a subordinate, but he's visibly steamed in their initial encounter and clearly hasn't liked him for quite some time. I bring this up because if we stretch our interpretation a little (for the sake of my argument), Croc Holliday's distaste for someone who's (outwardly) so much like himself and embodies all of his villainous characteristics from back in Alabasta might also suggest that deep down, he doesn't actually like the things they have in common; he sees right through Doffy because he's done the same shit and he hates what he sees.

Having gone over all that, I've come up with some key characteristics of Crocomelon that I'll use going forward:

–Extremely performative: puts an ungodly amount of energy into maintaining a carefully curated persona, and projecting a certain amount of power, masculinity, and prestige. Not necessarily an unnatural or inauthentic one, but a constructed and purposeful one nonetheless

–Deep-seated paranoia, hidden secrets; probably intertwined. Keeps personal details on tight, tight lockdown, probably afraid of being known.

–Constant projection of his own insecurities and failures onto other people, making a point to be uniquely cruel in Alabasta to an idealist who loves her people and a dreamer who wants to be the Pirate King.

Ironically, he demonstrably respects and defends two people–Luffy and Whitebeard–who theoretically embody everything he hates or scorns (ambition, goodness, love, connection, romanticism, greatness in the traditional sense) and he intensely dislikes the villain most like himself, or at least the one who shares a lot of his worst characteristics (ostentatious manipulative scheming rat bastard backed by people stronger than himself) –The Grinch's heart grew three sizes at Marineford because of like, the compelling power of brotherly love and reminders of his youth or something

SPECULATION, CONCLUSIONS??

The difficulty with writing anything definitive about Crocko's Basilisk is that he's such a mystery, which functionally lets the fanbase project literally whatever weird personality traits, potential backstories, or anything else they could possibly come up with onto him. So I want to be clear that I have absolutely no interest in theorizing about the specifics of his past or secret identity or potential baby daddy or anything along those lines; I'm only interested in what we can infer about his personality by extrapolating from canon. And the conclusion I keep coming back to, the one that I'm convinced is true on some level, is that Crocodile is living a lie and he fucking hates himself. Everything he does, from how he acts to what he claims to believe, is a desperate effort to cope with his own insecurity and failure and cover up a past version of himself he's deeply ashamed of.

Now, unfortunately, Oda did not conceive of Crocodile as a trans man but stories belong to the people and we can do what we want let's forget about that and play it straight because he's constantly performing gender as a means of compensating for a deep-seated shame and self-loathing from whatever traumas and secrets he keeps hidden. Even assuming he's a cis man, he deliberately chooses a hypermasculine persona with a Capital V Villain moniker and pimp outfit and speech pattern he's carefully curated to project masculine power–physical, political, and financial–and we know it's performance because we see him break kayfabe and get legitimately fucking angry whenever he's confronted by a person like Luffy, who's crazy and brave enough to try and do what he couldn't and risk everything for love and hope that he cannot bring himself to feel for another person, or reminders of the past he tries so desperately to bury.

The lessons he's wrongfully obtained from his past are as follows: Idealism is a weakness. Dreaming is a weakness. Connections to other people and being known are crippling liabilities (If he is, in fact, trans and closeted, that's all the more reason to be existentially disgusted by what he used to be). All the hope he brought to the Grand Line, all the excitement of trying to carry on where Roger left off, needs to be purged and buried because all he got to show for it was loss and humiliation. But he can't stop wanting more, and ironically, after he gives up on conquering the Grand Line, he ends up chasing the same fucking poneglyphs and weapons because his ambition's still there; it's just compromised and much more jaded.

Everything he does that's seemingly contradictory makes sense when you realize that Crocodile resents his failure and wants to avenge himself. He makes a big show of talking down to Luffy and Vivi's petty ideals and shit-talking Newgate and his family, but he still wants to fight Whitebeard like he did way back when and help Luffy protect what matters to him. He hates Doffy, who's honestly just a more successful schemer than he is because it's a constant reminder of what he settled for when he took that warlord post and fucking gave up. He claims to trust no one, but he keeps Daz by his side and rewards his loyalty because he can't help but trust someone who respects him so deeply and follows him to the ends of the fucking earth long after losing the material incentive to do so. He claims to look down on people who aim for the stars and fight for love and joy and freedom and yet, in his most vulnerable moments–not in the face of violence or imprisonment, but when he's emotionally compelled to defend a child and help save his brother–we see how badly he wants that for himself.

TLDR: Crockman Holic is deeply insecure in his masculinity, desperately needs psychological help, and his character/potential redemption arc in One Piece is just dealing with his midlife crisis.

So, some headcanons:

He may have dated some of them, too, especially right after they joined. Because he wouldn't have recruited them unless he thought they were JUST ♥ LIKE ♥ HIM. They're special, they're important...

... and after a few years, Bill realizes they're not that much like him after all and loses interest, and they sink down into the rank-and-file with the rest of the Henchmaniacs. The Henchmaniacs are FULL of people who were once Bill's Favorite—his best friends, his confidants, his lovers—and most of them are desperate to catch his eye and be that important to him again. They gave everything they had to Bill only for Bill to get bored.

So when he shows off the human who enabled Weirdmageddon and invites him to join the gang, they know EXACTLY what they're looking at: Bill's newest favorite. They know how this goes, he'll be gaga over this earthling for the next 5 to 500 years and then Ford will be just another regular Henchmaniac. The fact that Ford doesn't seem eager to join is no problem. Ford isn't the only soon-to-be Henchmaniac whose world Bill ended; some of them had to be talked around into joining, too.

⭐️ I think that, if you took Bill with his canon personality, didn't give him any character development, and then made him GENUINELY fall in love with Ford, and had him SINCERELY try his hardest to be a good, loving, healthy partner... he would still be toxic as hell for Ford.

Part of what draws Bill to Ford is that he sees SO much of himself in Ford—some accurate, some just projection. (You who crave power and fame and fortune like I do; you who also hunger to be all-knowing; you who would also sacrifice your world and your family and everyone you know and love to get what you want; you with an ego the size of the moon, oh, you deserve an ego the size of a star.) And so he assumes that what Ford really wants is what BILL would want in Ford's shoes.

And if Bill was Ford, what he'd want is to REALLY be the man who changed the world. Bill thinks he's fulfilling all Ford's wildest dreams if he gives that to him. Naming Ford the orchestrator of Weirdmageddon is the most generous gift Bill could ever offer.

Even if Bill is Really Really Trying and accepts that okay Ford doesn't want his world invaded: his idea of showing Ford love will be pulling the strings to get Ford fame & fortune. Teach him secrets of the universe that he can publish in a dozen groundbreaking scientific papers, arrange meetings with politicians and celebrities, get him a Nobel, get him an Oscar-winning bio pic, get him a billion dollars, get him EVERYTHING Ford's ever imagined as a marker of success and then double it.

When Bill's manipulating Ford, he offers praise and approval in little drops periodically leaking from the faucet, to keep Ford thirsty for more. When Bill's LOVING Ford, he just breaks the fire hydrant and lets it flood the street.

But the thing is, that's not good for Ford. That'll never make him truly happy. Ford's only ever learned how to measure his success by external markers, but the more external markers he collects the more he'll feel like he hasn't Made It yet. It's even possible that knowing Bill's helped him get this far will make him feel like he hasn't really EARNED it. He could have the whole world handed to him and he'll feel just as dissatisfied as he was on the day he first summoned Bill.

And Bill, even if he's trying his HARDEST to do this right, wouldn't be able to understand why this isn't working. A trillion years old and the only way he knows how to show love (or to receive love) is by showering someone in praise and gifts and favors. If that doesn't work, he doesn't know what's left.

BDSM has come up as one of the if not The most popular kink in both the US and Canada.

My headcanon in general is that Matt is a service top while Al is a power bottom. Along this lines, I think Matt tends to dom while Alfred prefers to sub, ESPECIALLY if they are with each other.

Why?

I think Alfred desperately needs a place/time when he's not in control. He's so powerful and dominant in the world - I know some people like to interpret this as how he would be in bed too but I personally headcanon that in private he needs a reprieve. He needs to let someone else be responsible and take care of him. He also may like the feeling of belonging to someone but in a way that doesn't impinge on his ACTUAL freedom in any way.

However, (outside of AU at least) it would be very difficult for him to hand over the reigns to most partners in a BDSM situation, especially one where he was to genuinely trust the person and not just play act. Subbing is not the same as bottoming. He can bottom and be in full control, but subbing is about relinquishing that control for a time. Though he is a bit of a bratty sub!

For Matthew, he often isn't in control of much worldwide. He's his own nation now, but still a part of the Commonwealth and very tied to US policies. He doesn't have near the international presence and influence that the US wields. Matthew is very responsive, and in sex, that means he's very eager to please his partner and to give them what they need and if that's for him to take control, he's willing and capable. While he might not seek the initiative all on his own, I think he very much enjoys it and benefits from it as well. And Matthew is a very GOOD Dom. He can adjust hard or soft as needed and he excels at aftercare.

In terms of CanAme , I do see the two as most likely to indulge in BDSM with each other rather than any other pairing. Matthew I think less so, as he's more comfortable with power dynamics while, as I mentioned, I think Alfred has a very short list of those he would be willing to engage with. Mind sharing some of your TGAA headcanons?

I've had this sitting in my inbox for a bit because when I first saw it, my mind went blank and I couldn't think of anything lol. Full disclosure: I feel like I don't have very many concrete headcanons. A lot of the time, if there isn't much canon evidence to support a headcanon, I tend to be more flexible and may change how I depict things depending on what suits my drawing/comic/story.

But I did think of a few to share, so here we go!

While Mrs. Hudson probably provided a lot of the meals for Sholmes & Iris before Iris got older and discovered a love for cooking, I believe that Sholmes CAN cook. He just has to make sure that he sets timers and follows the recipe to the letter. Because as soon as he gets distracted or turns the recipe into an experiment, it becomes inedible.

Because he did help uncover the truth about all of Stronghart's conspiracies and he ultimately did not kill anyone nor intend to go through with the assassination exchange, Kazuma is given a royal pardon after the game, allowing him to continue his study tour in Britain. However, that pardon also comes with a strict warning of "We'll be watching you and if you do something like this again, there will be consequences." I also believe there would still be a long probationary period where he can only help with Barok's cases at first. Then he can only lead the prosecution with Barok supervising his work before he finally earns the right to lead a case by himself.

Oddly enough, I have very strong headcanons for Rei's parents. I feel like they're both pretty chill and liberal. When their daughter came home one day like "I want to study dead bodies like Susato's dad," they were just like "Unconventional career choice, but we'll figure out a way to make it happen."

I guess I also tend to headcanon that Rei and Susato are childhood friends and that Rei fell in love with medicine/forensic science from listening to Mikotoba's stories.

Genshin does not particularly like Sholmes. He is grateful that Sholmes has been such a good friend to Mikotoba and helped to pull him out of his spiral of grief, and he appreciates Sholmes' commitment to the truth and justice. But every time they interact, he is constantly fighting the urge to throw Sholmes out the nearest window and/or into the Thames.

Since it is my understanding that traditional Japanese cuisine does not use a lot of (if any) dairy, I wonder how many of the Japanese cast would be lactose intolerant. I headcanon that Ryunosuke, at least, can eat dairy with no issues. Because he apparently has an iron gut.

Regarding Susato's all-knowing British encyclopedia she carries around, my thoughts are that either (1) she made that book herself, carefully copying down any piece of information she thought might be relevant, (2) her kimonos sleeves are the gateway to a pocket dimension where she can access her entire library, or (3) she has photographic memory and just has all these facts memorizes. But because of her super-humility (which she needs to work on because she's awesome and she should own her talents and abilities), she pretends that she's just looking it up in her book.

Susato and Kazuma lost a fight to a frog when they were younger, and they are both still mortified by that memory to this day.

On Gina and Kazuma's first case together post-game, Sholmes showed up to offer his assistance. They allowed him to stay because it annoyed Barok.

They have kicked Sholmes out of every single crime scene since then.

on reddit, you follow subreddits pertaining to a certain topic. on tumblr, you follow blogs and tags. people may keep their blog to a certain topic (ie this is a minecraft blog), so if you want to see minecraft content, you should follow minecraft blogs and relevant tags, such as mineblr, minecraft, modded minecraft, etc.

the way that the tag system works, you may find that you don't like the way a blog posts. you can go into settings -> content filters and put a person's url (blog name) into that, and you will no longer see their posts.

reddit is functionally based on comments. on tumblr, there are three ways of doing this: replies, reblog text and reblog tags.

replies are if you don't want the post on your dash. they will be visible in the notes section, but the original post will not appear on your blog.

reblog text is if you have something to add to a post. reblog tags are generally for commentary and reactions. for instance, on a post of a picture of a house built in mc, you might reblog with tags saying "oh wow, i really like this!". on a post with headcanons and lore, you may reblog with text adding your own theories and thoughts.

when tagging posts, using "speech marks" will bring the text within them to the front of the tags, on their own. this is stupid. to get around this, use one or two apostrophes.

I’ve talked vaguely about white liberals treatment of BW both in real life and in fandom spaces but I feel I should expand on that.

A while back a BW wrote an article about how BM are the white people of the black community. White people were offended and baffled and BM protested. The thing is it's very much true. BM, along with BW are oppressed under a system stacked against us (along with many other demographics), but because BW are women we are also oppressed by BM.

White liberals have the privilege to not have grown up in the hood like I did. So they can claim a world without cops wouldn't turn into open season on BW at the hands of BM. They can say gangs, drive-bys, and drug dealers aren't dangerous and BM shouldn't be prevented from doing it. But when I was little I couldn't use the playgrounds because drug dealers used them as a place to deal and recruit little boys. I couldn't go to the local skating rink because gangs would go there to fight and shoot it up. I had to play in the street with my friends because the MEN in the community were ruining spaces meant for children. Erasing safety in general actually. Not the white president, the men in the community. I can say systematic racism and the BM who did a random drive-by on my house and raped little girls were both oppressing me. Both are true.

But it's not true to the white liberals who have a complete blind spot when it comes to BW because they don't acknowledge we are women. They see us as strong unwavering aggressive machines. We make good allies but they don't need to help us because we are invincible duh. It's the "bw saved the day" shit after every election followed by them going right back to ignoring us the next day.

Look. I know where this comes from. I too read Izzy as queer. But queer people are perfectly capable of being homophobic towards each other.

Izzy can accept Ed having sex with men who are not him. He's fine with that, and sure, that seems to be proof that He can't be homophobic! at first glance. But, under patriarchy, not liking women sexually is - well, maybe not ideal but under certain circumstances acceptable (after all, under patriarchy, not liking women is perfectly reasonable and encouraged, so it's not a huge leap). But what is not acceptable, what needs to be violently suppressed at all costs, is men being insufficiently masculine.

Which is what Izzy detests about Stede, and what he attacks Ed for in ep10. And this is homophobia in a nutshell.

~ Nina is a 100% independent person. She has learned to develop her skills and doesn't have as much contact with Jeff anymore. Over time, she has given up the obsession with him and developed self-love. She still likes it when people try to focus more on themselves! It's worth noting that Nina has very good aim and is constantly training to surpass Jeff.

SALLY

~ She looks like a child, but she isn't! She may act like one, talk like one, but it doesn't change the fact that she would be around 60 years old currently. She is very polite and kind, she doesn't trust men but makes exceptions for Toby, LJ, Liu, Masky etc. Women she tends to be liberal, talkative when she wants! Even so, she is a spirit she can do whatever she wants with her body, her victims are very afraid of her in a certain way, even though she almost doesn't kill them, only if necessary! (She would probably have a very feminist side, but she doesn't act like one, she just thinks)

"TICCI" TOBY / TOBY ROGERS

~ Toby, he's a very reserved guy with certain people but he's very lively with those he meets, but that doesn't remove the fact that he can be serious, brutal or even sadistic! He has his interests, goals and objectives and always tries to fulfill them without being interrupted. He doesn't like Slender/Operator, not like before he realized that one time or another he will die and clearly his boss won't do anything just look a replacement. Apart from that, he can act anywhere from a 28-year-old man to a 19-year-old muleke who has just entered puberty, this man can have problems but he is extremely polite (with whoever he wants), respectful, and reserved and can have moments that he reveals something of his rarest trait

EYELESS JACK

~ EJ, a cannibalistic man who is extremely serious and well-behaved. A demon that walks on 2 or 4 legs depends on its state, it is not a guy of many words but it maintains relationships with other Creepys or Proxies. He is someone with experience about the human body, so he knows everything! He doesn't just eat kidneys, but his preference in food is clearly human or animal organs on certain occasions, in my opinion EJ always has something saved in case of need, he probably knows when to attack his victims, maybe you don't have 1 kidney and you don't know .. He is stealthy when he is in an angrier form he becomes more animalistic, bizarre and terrifying and scares anyone, but when he is calm and in his own person he becomes like a normal person! but it's not

BEN DROWNED

~ This guy is a professional hacker, if you want something that involves the Internet he can do it effortlessly, this includes, Hacking people, Stalking, Searching, He can change very advanced settings, disabling websites and things like that! I wouldn't want to pick a fight with him! He is not afraid of water, he just has certain traumas, but now (perhaps) overcome, he can range from playful to extremely violent, making his victim die through a screen! He is a spirit, don't expect something physically but expect discord in your life, leaked data, bizarre messages, photos, etc.

David Chiem Ultimate Rebel: Talentswap AU

Casually going to drop my headcanons for an Ultimate Rebel David talentswap. I've surprisingly never seen this one done yet (tho I could be wrong) and I think it has neat potential!

His parents, and elder sister Diana, were all killed when he was 14: Instead of a water poisoning accident as has been (I think?) implied with Xander's folks, it was a murder.

Since I headcanon David's father as a respected political speaker (who's also debatably shady- cough-) I'll say that it was a very targeted assassination on the Chiem family.

Just like Xander, David was the only survivor. It happened at one of his very own speeches. He watched it happen.

David's home-life was never… exemplary, not all the mansions or adoring public eyes in the world could make it so. Yet, things were actually beginning to look up for him and his family for once in this AU. Beginning to change. And then it all was ripped away.

Rumors circulate that Duke Spurling, a political rival of David's father, may have been involved. No one can confirm or deny this, but the man was too powerful to be convicted.

David. Is. Livid. Hope dangled in his face, and then shredded apart in front of his eyes. He really has nothing to lose anymore. While I think giving up may be his first impulse... soon, he'd grow spiteful. Depression is an ever-present stage of his grief. So is anger.

Using the tens of thousands of followers that he's already accumulated in his early speaking career (which would soon reach millions and then worldwide) David devises an organization. He is the leader of this organization, and gains much of the intel himself: But just to make things more efficient, gain easier assistance for himself in matters he can't pull off alone, and stir up some more insanity, he takes quite full advantage of his local lunatic fringe.

This organization is basically an undercover activism group, carefully comprised of fans of his insane enough to do his bidding, yet competent enough to not get caught spying, wealthy enough to bail him out of jail if he so needs in emergency, so on. This fame of his is a resource that Xander didn't have at the same age. He manipulates it skillfully. (If you're familiar with DRV3, think DICE.)

It is called Stardust. Nobody knows of it… until they're intended to.

David publicly snaps live on stage one day, and provides damning evidence to condemn Duke Spurling for the targeted assassination of his family. From then on, his speeches and public brand morpth from sunshiny and inspiring, into gritty, snapping wake-up calls.

David's manager? Locked up too. You can find a laundry list of reasons to legally get someone thrown in the hole, if you're crafty enough. Man was a controlling piece of dirt anyway. Ah; Who knew being liberated and in charge of his life for once felt this good!

(...He will never forget Diana taking that bullet in his place.)

Society is split 50/50 on what to think of David after this. Many are turned off by his sudden switch-around from the gentle-spoken boy he once was, while many others sympathize with his motives or are stirred into action or even mobs and protests by his sharp, brazen words. This controversy sparks massive public debate.

By age 18, the frigging government itself is mildly intimidated by this unhinged blue man.

The Hour, the Spot, the Look, the Words Chapter Commentary

Chapter 11: Love Language

It was but the morning after Elizabeth Darcy had admired a very pretty set of hair combs in a shop that she received them as a gift from her husband. She had not been hinting at anything, nor had she expected the gift, but her husband was a generous man and, surprised and grateful though she was, she did not dwell long on the event.

When it occurred a second time, after commenting on a lovely shawl, and a third, when speaking of a book she longed to read, she began to feel a little uneasy.

“I do not wish him to think that I am expecting presents,” she said to Georgiana, “or that I am making any demands.” My Elizabeth is sensitive about this, probably because Mrs. Bennet is, you know, Mrs. Bennet, and can't help talking about all of Elizabeth's new riches. She wants Darcy to be certain that his money is not at all a factor in her love for him. 

“Oh, no,” said Georgiana, her eyes wide. “I am sure he thinks no such thing! Of course he doesn't. It's the same sort of thing as his feeling guilty over the events of the beginning of the novel even though Elizabeth has forgiven them completely. They are still newly married and they will both grow out of this silliness eventually. This is just his way. One cannot admire anything in Fitzwilliam’s hearing without him rushing out to procure it for them." Someone argued with me about this, but it is literally canon.

Elizabeth could well believe it. After all, her husband had refitted an entire sitting room for Georgiana just because she said she had taken a liking to it. His was a liberality born out of kindness, and he positively spoiled the people he loved.

Still, she was determined to speak with him.

“I have never thought that you expected anything,” he said, after she had done. “I buy you these things because I enjoy it.”

“But does it not look unseemly?” she asked. “Your family already think I am a fortune hunter.”

“I do not care what they believe,” he said dismissively. “They certainly never complain when they need me to lend them money. Headcanon is that the Fitzwilliams live well above their means. And,” he said, more heated now, “I should think that I am entitled to buy gifts for my own wife without it being commented on.”

“Fitzwilliam,” she said gently, taking his hand, “you are always very thoughtful and I love that about you. I hated this line for its clunkiness when I wrote it, and I still hate it now. But I never want you to think, even for a moment, that I married you for your money, the way so many people do.”

“I do not think that, and I care very little about what the rest of the world may say.”

“But it sometimes feels as though I do all of the receiving and you get nothing in return,” she said, exasperated.

He looked genuinely nonplussed. “I have you. I do not want anything else.” Darcy is canonically a smooth talker, when he finally decides to talk (there are exceptions, I grant you). People forget this because of the 2005 movie Elizabeth's reaction to things.

That was very sweet, but she would need to speak with Georgiana again.

“Fitzwilliam is rather impossible about presents,” said Georgiana. “He is embarrassed whenever people try to give him things.” I am famously squeamish about receiving gifts, and I'm much poorer than Darcy, so I'm sure it's agonizing for him. 

“Well, that does not seem fair,” said Elizabeth, “as he is always giving himself.”

“You can imagine how relieved I am, that he must now divide his attention between the two of us!” 

Elizabeth laughed. “And how have you managed, being on the receiving end of his generosity and discouraged against any reciprocation?”

“I have always made him things,” said Georgiana. “Drawings, usually.” She smiled at Elizabeth, a little ruefully. “It is hardly on the level of a pianoforte, but that is what he likes.” Also basically canon. He hangs her pictures in the gallery! That is so freaking cute! 

“But I do not draw.”

“I could teach you,” said Georgiana hopefully. “I am sure Fitzwilliam would love anything that you made.” Can you even imagine? He'd probably try to surgically attach it to himself.

And so Elizabeth practiced.

Georgiana was an excellent teacher - patient and encouraging and skilled - but there was just no escaping the fact that Elizabeth had very little in the way of natural artistic talent. I had started to do a little recreational painting at the time that I wrote this. I was not impressive.

Georgiana refused to see it.

“You are doing very well!” she insisted. “You have never drawn before and all new pursuits take time.” 

They tried crayons, and pencils, and watercolors, and Elizabeth was clumsy with them all.

“You just need better inspiration,” said Georgiana firmly.

They escaped out of doors, where Elizabeth tried to create something that was not objectively terrible. She had decided to paint a landscape, choosing for her subject a favorite spot of her husband’s (a shady and peaceful place by the stream), but she had rather overestimated her abilities.

Georgiana, meanwhile, had completed a miniature of Elizabeth, very prettily done but a touch too flattering. Georgiana, like her brother, thinks that Elizabeth is the loveliest woman in the world, so she will protest against this assessment. 

“He will like that,” said Elizabeth, hot and frustrated and covered in paint. “But mine…”

She trailed off and looked with a critical eye at her own attempt. To call it inexpert would be too kind.

“Fitzwilliam will love it,” said Georgiana earnestly.

Elizabeth made a face.

“He will!” Georgiana pressed her hand. “Elizabeth, when Fitzwilliam buys you hair combs, or shawls, or whatever else you have taken a fancy to, it is never truly about any of those things. He is showing you that he cares about you, that he is thinking about you. He will see what an effort you have made to paint a place that is special to him. That is what makes it so meaningful.”

Elizabeth looked down at her painting.

It was a good thing that Fitzwilliam loved her so much. I am still very fond of this line. ;)

“You must not laugh.”

Fitzwilliam looked at her with some confusion.

“I have painted you a landscape and you must not laugh.”

The corners of his mouth began to curl upward.

“You must not smile, either.”

He hastily composed himself. Another favorite exchange. 

She sighed and presented the painting to him. A look of mingled tenderness and amusement crossed his face.

“I shall hang it in the picture gallery at once,” he said.

“You will not,” said Elizabeth, “or I will have it back.”

“You cannot have it back, it was a gift.” And another. I had a lot of fun with this chapter in general, and this section of it in particular.

She continued to protest against his hanging it anywhere, and he continued to insist that he would. To Elizabeth’s relief, however, it never appeared in the gallery.

Instead, the landscape remained, in a place of prominence and importance, in the recipient's study, where it was cherished rather more highly than any other piece of great art in his collection. Fitzwilliam Darcy, big old sentimental softie.

descendants au where the core four plus some others are sent to auradon. they all have the same plan (get the other vks off the isle) but go about it in wildly different ways. there is no communication among them. (also they have foster families but that’s besides the point)

mal, being maleficent’s daughter (2014 maleficent) is a protector. and not above cursing people to get her way. she’s staying with mulan and shang, so maybe she learns a less violent way to protect people, but it’s also enforced in her to do what’s right. while she’s encouraged to just try to fit in, she knows from her mother that sometimes you can’t blend in. currently, her plan is to intimidate ben into listening to her. it may or may not be working.

evie is also not above cursing people, though she prefers to charm them first. or manipulate them. staying with snow white doesn’t help at all, surprisingly. though maybe she stops caring about her looks so much. anyway, she’s a healer, so with every chance she gets she’s ranting to whoever will listen about how bad healthcare is on the isle. it may get disgusting sometimes, but hey, it’s working. ben insisted they send better medicine on the next boat.

jay has magic, because jafar was a sorcerer when he was sent to the isle. with the barrier, he may not be at his full potential, but hey, it’s there. now, jafars scepter is in auradon. jafar tells jay to steal it and sure, okay, he’ll do it, if only so his father will feed him should the whole thing not work out and they’re all sent back to the isle. but then he realizes the scepter would give him more power, and jafar is always lamenting that he’ll never be as powerful as he was. so jay decides to steal it to prove he can be that powerful, and with that power he can liberate the isle. also, he’s staying with aladdin and jasmine. aladdin knows exactly what kind of person jay is, because he was him once too. he guesses jays plan within minutes of meeting him. he says nothing, but when jay is inevitably caught, he makes sure he’s not sent back to the isle.

carlos is happy to just not be his mothers servant, but given he’s staying with cinderella, that’s enough for her to fight for other kids to get off the isle.

isidora, my oc, is the daughter of the queen of hearts/red queen, since i base my headcanons off the live action. anyway, she couldn’t careless about auradon. she doesn’t care about the isle much either. this isn’t because she doesn’t want others off the isle — she does — but her mother is having an affair with time himself, so she knows things will happen when they happen. even if that means she has to bully time into helping her. what she does care about is how many places in wonderland could be turned into homes. she doesn’t exactly have much of a gang, but she does know carlos, and through him she has connections with mal, and mal has a lot of connections, as one of the main leaders of the isle (kinda want to call that alliance the triumvirate tbh). her personal goal may be not getting beheaded by her own mother and working the salon, but she has a sister to look out for, and mal may call on her resources one day. also, she’s staying with alice in wonderland, and let’s just say she fits right in.

claudine was invited off the isle, but she was also smuggled off so her father wouldn’t find out. she’s honestly just happy to be away from him, but she’s also part of the lost revenge, and uma is her captain. technically uma’s orders were to not forget about them, but claudine interpreted that as “get us out of here, if you can”. so she gets close to ben, makes sure he knows exactly what happens to vks. as one of the isle kids with the worst home lives, who better to inform him? her foster family, the de chateaupers, support her on the basis of she exists, and if frollo of all people was allowed to raise another kid, who else was?

how do these plots collide? i don’t actually know yet, except that that’s not all that’s going on, and the isle becomes a war ground at some point.

I gotta be honest, I haven't played Ishin yet but I've seen some things about it and I'm absolutely in LOVE with the whole concept.

So! Since most of the asks are about the modern day characters, would you be willing to make some general dating headcanons for the Ishin babes? <3

OMG HI yes sorry this took so long, I am finally back in town so posting is resuming as normal. If you get a chance to play Ishin, I would recommend it! I had a lot of fun. I'll be covering my typical boys for this one but if there are other Ishin characters you'd like to see, just shoot me another ask. Anyways, thanks again for your patience and headcanons are below da cut!

MINOR SPOILERS, mostly for alternate names used in Ishin. I'll note which character is which so those who haven't played Ishin can still read this.

Sakamoto Ryoma (Kazuma Kiryu)

Ryoma grew up extremely poor so don't expect particularly lavish dates. It's also very typical of him to value quality time with you over anything else. His dating go-to is getting something to eat with you. He relishes enjoying a good meal with someone he cares about.

The most protective boy. Would shield you from any and everything and is extremely stoic. Not much of a conversationalist but a great listener. Wants nothing more than to be able to provide for a spouse and have his own family someday.

If the relationship is particularly serious, he would eventually ask you to move into his house with Haruka. Should you accept, you'd end up living a very comfortable life. Ryoma would have you taste test everything he makes.

Okada Izo (Nishikiyama Akira)

His menacing demeanor means he doesn't have a lot of close friends, let alone lovers, so it actually softens him a lot to have a romantic partner. He's much more chivalrous in your presence and tries to avoid engaging in any type of business-related if he knows he's going to spend time with you. Very much a home-life and work-life are separated type of man.

Surprisingly fashion conscious despite the era. Would love to pick out some matching yukatas for the two of you or gift you a luxurious kimono.

Okada can be a little clingy, almost obsessive. He doesn't have a whole lot and lives pretty plainly, with the exception of his clothes, so he places a lot of value on your relationship. Tries to hide his clinginess but is very bad at masking it.

Niibori Matsusuke (Akiyama Shun)

It takes a while to get to know him but he's actually a warm and generous person. He tends to be extremely secretive so if you're in a romantic relationship with him, he must trust you a LOT.

Spends most of his time at work or at home, so he doesn't go out for dates much. Most likely to take you out for drinks than anything. It's not that he's lazy necessarily, he's just usually too exhausted to do much else. Would rather you just come over and hang out, although many others consider that a little taboo for the time period.

Expect some pushback from Ikumatsu, as she's known Niibori for a long time and has her own personal feelings and attachments to the man. You may find it difficult to actively pursue a relationship with Niibori because of how busy he is and because of Ikumatsu. However, if you're as go-with-the-flow as Niibori is, things will work out just fine.

Saigo Kichinosuke (Ryuji Goda)

As a military commander, he holds a lot of power and is not afraid to show it. He's the most likely to lavish you with gifts or expensive meals. Loves dogs, so hopefully you do too as he does own one.

One of the most appealing things to him when looking for a romantic partner is someone who is not intimidated by his appearance or interested solely in his power or wealth. He's actually very down to earth on the inside and quite smart, so don't try to fool him.

Would take care of your every need and whim. He tries to keep you isolated from all his work as he doesn't want the bustle of it to put any strain on you. However, he's pretty liberal for his time and wouldn't tell you no if you expressed interest in helping or participating in his business.

Hijikata Toshizo (Mine Yoshitaka)

As the second highest ranking member of the Shinsengumi, he is a VERY busy man. He is calculating and objective, rarely showing emotion, so most people won't believe he is even capable of romance. However, in total privacy with you, he's actually extremely caring and doting.

Type of guy to give you a kiss and leave out some tea for you before he goes out to take care of business. Comes home very late at night and just wants to rest his head in your lap while listening to you talk about your day as he falls asleep.

Shockingly domestic and likes to keep a clean household. Good at decorating and will ask for your opinions on things, like what wood looks best for a new desk or what color fabric looks best for a new pillow, things like that.

Nagakura Shinpachi (Saejima Taiga)

Easily the most approachable of all the boys. He's always virtuous, kind, and fair and that carries over into his relationships. Will always look out for you, make sure you're doing well, and the like. Despite being quite busy working with the Shinsengumi, he will go out of his way to try to see you once a day, even if only briefly.

Loves things like festivals and holidays and will always ask you rather shyly if you'd like to go to a festival with him. Even if you have been in a long term relationship with him, he likes the formality of asking you on a date.

Gets super excited to go on walks with you, as he finds it relaxing and he loves the way the town looks at sunset, with the lanterns slowly coming to light. The type of guy to walk around with his arm gently around your shoulder or to carry and umbrella over you when it rains.

Okita Soji (Majima Goro)

As the wild card of the Shinsengumi, he's really not predictable when it comes to love. He can be very closed off at first, although really he craves affection more than anyone. He's very nontraditional in general, which can actually be of great benefit if you're a spontaneous person. Loves to surprise you with dates and gifts and is known to pop by your place just to say hi briefly while he's out on his patrols.

Would totally sneak you into the barracks on nights when he's busy so he can cuddle with or get frisky with you. He doesn't care if people find out or start rumors, as he would always value his romantic life over his work life.

Likes to go singing or dancing on his days off and will totally invite you. If that's not your thing though, he'd like to just sit on one of the docks or bridges and share some food with you, all while swinging his legs back in forth over the water.

Tokugawa Yoshinobu (Daigo Dojima)

As the last shogun, he's very stressed and preoccupied with work. His family has likely tried at some point to arrange romantic relationships with him so choosing a romantic partner is actually very important to him as it's one of the few choices he's made in his life solely for himself and not for the country. If he's picked you as a romantic partner, you are very special to him indeed.

Very courageous and would defend you with his life. Whether it's an actual physical threat or just some gossip from politicians about him choosing you, he will always put you on a pedestal. The only thing he values more than his country is you.

What he needs most is a person to support him. You don't have to politically skilled, he just needs someone in his corner. He's good at standing strong on his own but behind closed doors he's quite drained from his job so be sure to give him a good hug or wash his back for him every now and then.

Oh man I'm about to Reveal Myself, but... I think KP as a whole could really use more noncon/dubcon, but KimChay especially (and Kim specifically). I read a fic a looong time ago when I first entered the fandom, it was like 400 words, and I'm not gonna name it in case the author doesn't want to be attached to it, but it was so good. Essentially Chay is very enthusiastic in the smut and Kin can't bring himself to say no, and I just!!! That is the good shit to me. I feel like especially post-reconciliation, Kim is exactly the kind of person that would overcompensate for breaking Chay's heart by giving him everything he wants. (i may be writing a fic about this already, called Stress Relief. That may or may not ever be posted. That may or may not be based on my own personal trauma. Anyway.) On a lighter note! I want to see more AUs! I'm a bit spoiled coming from the TW fandom, which is like. One of the most prolific fandoms on Ao3. But mannn, I want to see KimChay writers branch out and get absolutely unhinged with their AUs!

19. You're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like...

Lets be real. My first answer was non-con. There's really not a lot I'm ashamed about lol. I mean I've got like 3 different tentacle monster fics in the works, I've got a Wuju Bakery fic that's 90% slime and oviposition (technically still up for debate. Eggpreg?). I'm all in on the things I like, and don't care/think much about the things I don't. I think I've been in fandom long enough, and gotten old enough, that I just... don't have time to waste on being awkward anymore. Lose your shame! Cast off your shackles! That said I used to think rimming was really gross and I don't like it irl but there are some people who just write it like. unf. Hot damn. I'm a little mad at @ae-azile for that one chapter of Progression 👀

Also not mad/ashamed/horrified, but I was surprised at how much I love reading autistic Kim and writing trans!Kim. For the first one I think the writers in this fandom do an excellent and convincing job at characterizing him (esp @kimkhimhant my beloved <3) without infantilizing him, which... happens a lot with autistic characters. Like, the writing is so spot on that I didn't even question in, I pretty much immediately assimilated that into my mental rolodex of headcanons. 10/10 A+ effort for everyone around.

The trans!Kim aspect is also really fun. I'd never really written trans characters before, but this past year, and the past couple of months especially, I've been really struggling with my own gender and identity. So writing about that through Kim has been really therapeutic. (Adding to my first answer, we need more trans!Kim!) Although... I do hope that the particular way I've chosen to explore his gender in Dystocia is.. taken gracefully. Since it does revolve around Kim having a very traumatic pregnancy (and a lot of other trauma in general), which I know can be triggering for people. Whenever I eventually post that monster of a fic I'm just going to liberally tag it with all the things and hope for the best lol.

I think Dystocia and Stress Relief are two fics that I'm incredibly nervous to post, both because of how personally significant they are to me in a way most of my fics aren't, and because they're both very dark, which IDK if that's something people really want to see from KimChay (esp in Stress Relief).

You know... 🤔 While I imagine Sal is out scouting what is accessible of the world of Gaia (FFIX) for some... interesting answers to interesting things, I've come to realize a potential new headcanon about her. (Yes, a headcanon for an OC. Hahaha!)

She's curious, yes, but I think her knack for observing, listening and gathering intel could also be a remnant from the agent days.

There are things that she has allowed to gather dust, such as combat techniques (she does not like Fite, as some of us know,) but others she may have inadvertently gotten even better at over the years just because they were never retired - for multiple reasons. And gathering intel is one of those things.~

As for the reasons, again: curiosity. Plays well with how she operates. However, she does live with a particular level of scrutiny, thanks to the governmental powers that be - and even her own agency, now that I recall once more...

There's a part of me that's fairly certain that her agency still keeps tabs on her too. She no longer wishes to participate after everything that happened in the past, but... that stuff... is not the kind of stuff they just let you walk away from. If you ever see her withholding information the way that she does, one of the many reasons she does is because she never knows where not only the powers beyond her agency are, but the agency itself is. The irony of there being an agency whose goal was to help liberate the oppressed from higher powers of government, only to detain her all the same if she speaks a word of their existence or "says the wrong thing." Ahaha that's that double-edged sword logic that I do so love, yessss.~

I have so many little story thoughts run through my head all the time that I sometimes forget things...! In that respect, I forget she actually may not have the best feelings towards the agency itself nowadays... mostly because it feels like another source of entrapment. And she has never done well with cages...

(Though, to be fair and not make it sound like an absolute drag: I imagine she still has connections a.k.a "friends" in the agency, in this case as well. Some that may even be willing to exercise lenience when it comes to keeping tabs on her. Turn a blind eye here and there, if something "questionable" happens. There may even be those who are in her corner and help her stay off someone else's radar!

Lordy, I hate that I forget things sometimes - but it's always cool when I remember certain intricacies to stories and characters all over again! Hahaha!)
