Thanks to Them.
Flapjack.
…And then, just. MASHA! They/Them Masha!!! Vee’s witch GF! Not yet I mean, but…
EVELYN CLAWTHORNE?!?!
1613 was it, when the brothers arrived? Canonically ORPHANS too…
Belos still lives. And he’s in the Demon Realm… Guys there’s still hope yet that our other protagonists can GET THEIR REVENGE ON HIM!!! There’s a chance now that Darius and Eda and Lilith and ALL OF THEM get to pummel Belos for what he’s done!!!
Imagine being Philip and listening to Masha’s story and how it seems to portray you in a sympathetic light and Caleb as the victim of that evil Evelyn… Only for Masha to roast you SO hard.
AND THEY SAID IT! They said what we’ve been ALL saying! That if it had been Luz, it’d have been someone else that Philip used; But also, that it’s good it’s Luz, because now she’s there to fight back when others wouldn’t!
Her palisman… NNNOOOOO THEY LEFT IT AUGH THEY KEEP TEASING US!!! But it was right by the gartersnake skin in that shot, which DEEPLY increases the chance of snake palisman! But then, Luz DID acknowledged that as a possibility, so does that rule it out from a meta standpoint?
I’m sweating so hard y’all, my heart was BEATING… Especially when they went into the basement for Belos.
I thought the rebus meant “I hear” but now I realize the eye WAS meant to invoke the Portal and thus mean “Portal here”. Why did Caleb leave it, under what circumstances? How did Evelyn travel, did she just have a LOT of Titan’s Blood before she and Caleb made a sustainable method via the Portal???
Flapjack… He’s a part of our BOY, THE PARALLELS TO BELOS! The longer hair at the montage, the scar, having a palisman absorbed, but the OPPOSITES and consensual sacrifice! Love Willow dropping the word Revenge. Love that for her.
And dammit… We don’t get to see what’s on the other end! AND VEEEEEEE WHY COULDN’T YOU TAG ALONG!!!! I’m glad they gave us some more Vee content and characterization but still… And CAMILA! SHE’S GONNA MEET THEM ALL!!!
Imagine they step out into the Demon Realm and see Belos, in horrific awe of what the Collector has done. And then the Collector smooshes him.
Just, this hit ALL the right notes. Did everything we wanted. Hunter coping with fiction, THIS IS WHY REP MATTERS, and how it’s a parallel to Luz… Manny Noceda is her dad! Camila’s dream, YIKES… The guilt, but also Camila was just like Luz confirmed! The Azura book was a gift from her DAD, Manny died RECENTLY, because Luz mentions the funeral still being fresh right before episode 1! She’s coping over Manny, and it seems it was a prolonged sickness that did him in…
Flapjack. OH GAWD THAT BASTARD HE CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS! HE KILLED FLAPJACK! And even treated her like Evelyn… Did Evelyn make Flapjack, since she was shown presenting him to Caleb in Masha’s retelling?
I’m shook y’all. Still sweating. NO SIGN OF MY HAGS! AUGH… That can’t be IT, I need it back NOW!!! GOD YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME DANA!!!
Welp. See you… next YEAR, you guys. Because the crew hates us. And loves us. Signing out…

Adoption Papers
Rating: Gen, General Audiences
Part 2 of Camila is Hunter’s Mom Now
Camila officially adopts Hunter and Vee
Might be a little hard to explain where they came from, though.
Direct Sequel to “Another Shot at Life”
Ao3
“What’s a social security?”
“What do you mean an ID?”
“Why do we have to do a bunch of paperwork to live here? Luz just lived in Eda’s house for months!”
Camila pinched the bridge of her nose. “Things work differently here than in the Boiling Isles. And if the two of you don’t want me to get arrested for kidnapping, we have to fill out paperwork, and I have to officially adopt you.”
Vee sniffed the papers. “But I’ve already been living here!”
“Yeah, pretending to be me,” Luz reminded her, Gonna be a liiiiiitle hard to explain why there’s two of us.”
Hunter squinted at the documents. “I used to do paperwork for the coven. But I have no idea what any of this says.” It was all a lot of technical stuff—with a lot of words he didn’t know the meaning of.
Camila sighed. “I’ve filled out most of it, but… we’re going to need to explain where the two of you came from. And ‘wandered in from another dimension’ isn’t something I think we can tell people.”
Luz bounced up. “Ooo! I’ve got it!” She waved a hand. “Vee is my twin sister, separated at birth!”
“Luz, sweetie, the hospital records will say otherwise.”
“Okay, okay, how abooooout… we say that Vee was a home birth, maybe a year younger than me, but Dad took her away with him when he left, and we assumed he’d do all of the registry, but apparently he didn’t? What are they going to do, track him down and ask him? They haven’t managed that yet. We can say that Vee ran away and came home to us.”
“That might work. What about Hunter?”
Luz grinned at him. “We found him living feral in the woods, he was raised by a pack of wolves.”
Hunter stuck his tongue out at her.
“Yeaaah… I don’t think that one’s gonna fly.”
“How about we tell them the truth?” Vee asked, “We say he ran away from a bad situation, and we’ve been taking care of him.”
“What if they start investigating? They’ll ask him questions, definitely, and if they try to figure out who his family is-!”
Luz jumped up and down. “Oooooo, tell them your horrible family chased you, and tried to push you off of a cliff, but they slipped and fell off and died!”
Hunter felt sick. “Pass.”
“Let’s stick to something simple. You and your… uncle… traveled, didn’t have a home, and you slipped away one day. You were camping out in the old abandoned house to hide, Vee found you there and brought you home, and you’ve been living with us ever since.”
“What if they try to figure out who his family is?” Vee asked, “I mean, uncle sounds a lot like he might have just kidnapped him.”
Hunter shrugged. “I’ll tell them my whole family was already dead. Freak boating accident, bodies never found. They were recluses, no one noticed they were missing. I’ll say uhhhhhhhh, I don’t remember their names, because I was a kid, and my uncle never told me our last name.”
Luz squinted at him. “What is your last name?”
“No idea.”
Camila sighed. “This is getting complicated. What if they start trying to figure out where your family lived?”
“Mexico,” Luz said immediately, “But Hunter was born over the border.”
“Does he look Mexican to you?”
“Okay, fine, Canada, whatever!”
“Let’s just… keep it simple, okay, Luz? Hunter, what do you think? This is your story, you have to be able to tell it.”
His story. Okay, who did he want to be? “I think… I think Vee’s idea is good,” he said slowly, “Ran away—I’ll just say he was my uncle. And we were homeless, so there’s nowhere they could track him down to. Even if they DO start looking for my birth family, it’s not like they can actually pull anything up, because I’m not from here. Okay. So, I ran away, made my way to Gravesfield, camped out in the abandoned house for a bit, then Vee found me, uhhhhh…”
“A week ago,” Vee offered.
“Okay, yeah, a week ago.”
“And if they ask for details about your uncle?”
“I’ll just talk about Belos. It’s not like they can find him.”
Camila nodded. “Okay! The closest adoption agency is out of town, but I already scheduled an appointment for tomorrow. First hurdle, guys!”
“First?” Hunter echoed.
“Oh, yeah, we have to get the two of you enrolled in school—”
“School?!”
Luz laughed. “Ohhhhhhh, you’re gonna hate it, Mr. Prodigy.”
“I don’t need school!”
“Yeah? Do you know how to do algebra? How about chemistry? Physics?”
“No?” Hunter looked to Luz. “Those are fake, right?”
She shook her head. “Unfortunately, they’re all very real.”
“I don’t need those.”
“We’ll discuss it later,” Camila interrupted, “For now, let’s just… focus on the adoption, okay?”
She looked… nervous. Which made Hunter nervous.
“What… what happens if they don’t believe me?”
Camila rubbed the back of her head. “I… I don’t know, mijo. If they dig deeper, I… but it will be fine.”
Still, Hunter didn’t sleep that night, his mind running through every possible way that this could go wrong. The next morning, when they loaded up in the car, he could see dark circles under Camila’s eyes, too. It did not make him feel better.
Hunter tossed his palisman gently out the window before they set off, the bird fluttering around his head. “You can’t come with us. Stay here and protect the house, okay?”
The bird chirped in affirmation, flapping back to sit on the roof.
Vee fell back asleep, leaning against him, and he resisted the urge to shake her awake and demand to know how she could possibly not be worried about this.
Hunter hadn’t ever gone outside of Gravesfield, and it was hitting him just now how… huge… the human realm was. He watched countryside flash by outside the car window, and even still, they didn’t seem to be getting anywhere.
And then buildings loomed in front of him, huge and imposing. Hunter pressed his face against the window. “Is this the capital of the human realm?”
“Ha. No. We’re not even in the capital of Connecticut.”
“Seriously?!”
Hunter watched the streets go by. This world was enormous, and he wasn’t entirely sure how to feel about it.
They had the key on this side, and since he was here, Belos was down one coven head—hypothetically, his uncle couldn’t complete his day of unity plans. But if he did, or if he managed to get back through, somehow…
Hunter was almost confident that this world was big enough for him to hide in.
They pulled up to an office building, and Camila took a deep breath. “Okay. Here goes nothing. Come on, kids.”
They all followed behind her into the building, and Camila approached the desk. “Hiiii. I’m Camila Noceda, I have an appointment about a couple of adoptions?”
The desk attendant glanced behind her at the three of them. “Down the hall, first door on the right. Right on time.”
Camila gave the attendant a nod. Hunter and Vee both crowded close to her as they filed into the office. “Hello?”
The woman at the desk looked like she hadn’t slept in a week, a thermos on a table covered in papers. “Hey. Paperwork.”
Camila tentatively handed her the packet, and she disappeared into a back room, coming back out after about ten minutes.
“So, neither of these kids is in the system?”
Camila shook her head. “Neither.”
The woman squinted at Vee. “Certainly looks like your other daughter. Why didn’t you report her father taking her?”
“We… we were separating. We thought he’d already filed everything.”
A grunt. “Alright. You. Other one. Hunter. C’mere.”
Hunter looked to Camila, and she gave him a little nod. He followed the woman into the other room, where she read over his form again. “Tell me about your uncle.”
“What? Why?”
“We need to see if we can find him.”
Hunter’s blood chilled. “I’m not going back!”
“Hey, it’s okay. We need to find him because we just don’t know enough about you—not even your last name. So we need your uncle for more information.”
“You won’t find him.”
“Uh-huh. Let us try, at least. Physical description?”
Hunter sighed. “Tall. Blond but greying, long hair, blue eyes. Old.” Face creeping with slime, occasionally turns into a puddle of goop, can’t miss him.
“His name?”
“Belos.”
“There’s one you don’t hear every day. Last name?”
“Dunno.”
“Right. Of course not. Where was the last place you saw him?”
“I don’t know.”
The woman sighed. “You’ve got to work with me, here.”
“Why?”
“Because this whole adoption will go a lot more smoothly. Where was the last place you saw him?”
“I don’t know.”
“Okay. Fine. How long ago did you see him?”
Hunter struggled to remember. Kind of hard to tell when he didn’t know how much time he’d lost falling down into a cursed prison of darkness.
But according to Luz, that had only been for a couple of hours, even if it had felt like forever.
“Two weeks,” he said softly.
Two weeks since he’d been rescued. Two weeks since the worst time of his life.
“And you… ran away?”
“Yeah.”
“Can you explain why?”
Hunter shuddered. “Because I was miserable.”
“Specifically?”
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“We can’t take you away from your uncle if he wasn’t a bad parent, Hunter. If we don’t have any indication he did anything wrong, then he can reclaim you any time he likes, and we are obligated to try to find him and return you to him. I understand that it may be painful to talk about it, but we cannot proceed without information about your past life.”
“Fine,” Hunter snapped, “He hurt me, and he locked me up, and he made me run errands for him and would punish me if I failed, happy?”
A slight pause. “What kind of errands?”
Hunting down palisman so he could drain them of their magic. “Uh… picking up medicine for him.”
“Medicine? What kind?”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?”
“I just picked it up. I didn’t ask questions, it wasn’t encouraged.”
“But you ran away, ended up in Gravesfield, where Camila found you a week ago?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay. Wait outside, send Camila in.”
Hunter shuffled out. “She wants you.”
Camila nodded, disappearing into the other room, closing the door behind her. Vee nudged him. “Are you okay?”
“She was asking about Belos.”
“I’m sorry,” Luz said softly.
Hunter paced back and forth. “What do you think they’re talking about?” He crept closer to the door, pressing his ear to the door.
“Hunter,” Vee hissed, “Get away from there, it’s rude!”
“I want to know what they’re saying,” he hissed back, “Shhhh!”
He pressed his ear to the door again. The voices were faint, but he could make out what they were saying.
“Obviously, if Vee is your biological daughter, there isn’t any reason for us to keep her from you. I don’t think there will be any difficulty with the transition. But Hunter… Ms. Noceda, you may be rushing into more than you can handle.”
“What do you mean?”
“You don’t know him well. We don’t know where he came from, or what he’s done.”
“What he’s done?”
“He’s a liar, ma’am, you wrote that he was homeless, but he claimed his uncle would lock him up. Those two aren’t exactly compatible. He very obviously isn’t telling us everything—and I suspect he may have been part of a drug delivery system without knowledge. If I can believe him that he didn’t know what his uncle’s ‘medicine’ was.”
“Okay, well, let’s just say that I am really, really, really determined to adopt him anyway.”
“I’m really advising you not to. Let us get him into the system, foster him out, see how he does before you go all in on adopting him. He might not even be separated from his uncle—they might be planning to rob or hurt you and your family.”
“Hunter,” Camila thundered, “is not going to hurt us. And I don’t think it’s a good idea to foster him out.”
Hunter pulled back from the door, feeling sick. “Luz, what’s fostering?”
Her face paled. “It’s… it’s when they sort of send you out to different families to take care of you.”
“I don’t want to go to a different family!”
“You won’t,” Luz soothed, “Mom won’t let them take you away. And you can just run away if they do.”
Hunter started to pace, his chest getting tight. “I can’t start running away here, too! That’ll just make all of the adoption stuff harder, right?”
Vee grabbed his hand. “Hunter. Look at me.”
He did, the fingers of his free hand tapping restlessly on the side of his leg.
Vee gave his hand a squeeze. “It’s going to be okay,” she said firmly, “We aren’t going to leave you behind. Promise.”
He took a deep breath. “Okay.”
“Good. Now sit down, and just think about other stuff. Like school.”
“I don’t want to go to school.”
“I’ll teach you algebra,” Vee promised, “They had a whole course on it at summer camp—it’s not so bad. And I’ll introduce you to my friends, too. You’ll be a couple grades older than us, but that’s okay.”
Luz bounced up. “Speaking of school, Hunter, is there any chance I can borrow Red? I know we’re worried about using the portal, but Eda and Amity and King and Gus and Willow will all be so worried about me!”
“Use your little…” Hunter clicked his fingers in the air. “Your little yellow thing.”
“My—you think that will work between dimensions?”
He shrugged. “Worth a shot. Might as well try before we open the portal and risk Belos getting in.” Hunter tapped his fingers against the chair. “If there’s natural titan’s blood veins in the Boiling Isles, then there’s a place here where it connects, right?”
“Right. That’s how Phillip—he wrote the diary I was using to figure out my portal—got into the demon realm in the first place.”
“So we might not need the key portal if we can find a place on this side where the worlds intersect.” Hunter’s stomach roiled. “Except that if we can do that, that means Belos has another way to get blood.”
“If I can just get in contact with Eda, she might be able to figure out my portal and then we don’t have to—”
The door to the other room burst open. Camila grinned, her hands behind her back. “Okay, Vee, Hunter, close your eyes, and hold out your hands!”
Vee did what she said, and Hunter followed suit, a little more hesitantly. Something paper settled in his hand. “Okay, open your eyes now.”
Hunter blinked at the paper in his hand.
Hunter Noceda.
Vee bounced up and down. “We did it!”
“They’re still finalizing everything—social security, birth certificates, all of that will take a bit more time. But you two are legally part of the family and under my care, now!”
Hunter Noceda.
The words felt… odd, in his head. But a good kind of odd.
Luz slung her arms around Vee and Hunter’s necks. “Whoo! Two new siblings! I didn’t use to have… well, any! I mean, I had you, but legally!” She shook Hunter slightly. “See? Nothing to worry about, I told you Mom could handle it!”
“Hunter Noceda.” He had a last name, now. A family name. “Vee Noceda.” It felt more natural to say her name—but then, she’d already seemed to be part of the family.
Luz cackled with glee. “Aha! You know what that means? Now the two of you have to wear ugly sweaters for family Christmas card pictures!”
“Ugly sweaters?” Vee questioned
“Christ-mas?” Hunter echoed.
“Ehehehe. Welcome to the Noceda family. You two have a lot of family tradition to catch up on.”

What I Thought About “Separate Tides” from The Owl House
Salutations, random people on the internet who most likely won’t read this! I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons.
...>A-hem< F**KING CALLED IT!
I said that the earliest that The Owl House would return would be late June and early July. And some of YYYOOOUUU sons of witches doubted me by saying it would be fall or winter. Well, guess what! "Separate Tides'' has come and gone, the show is back and better than ever, and we are all happy about it! You see how it pays to be optimistic, you persistent PACK OF PESSIMISTS!
...Sorry. Got a little hot there. I'm just so happy it's BACK!
10 MONTHS! It's been nearly 10 months since this show began its hiatus, large in part because of the pandemic. It was painful. BOY, was it painful. But I can already tell that the new season is going to be well worth the wait just by this episode alone.
But beware you mangey sea dogs! Thar be spoilers ahead when discussing such a premier.
And I swear to you that it's only spoilers for "Separate Tides." I haven't seen "Escaping Expulsion" either, and I promise you will be safe from anybody ruining it for you. But maybe don't read any responses from this post. Thar may be d**ks in these waters. So let's review, shall we!
WHAT I LIKE
Mirroring Season One’s Opening Scene: First off, this is a neat callback to what is the perfect first impression of the series. That scene perfectly introduces us to the type of show The Owl House is, while this one acts as a reintroduction to the world we left for way too long.
Second, this is also a well-hidden character moment. Luz is finally living the life she dreamed of, but it isn't exactly all that she expected. It's a great showcase that despite literally running away to a fantasy world, Luz is still getting a regular dose of reality. And I still love the irony in all of that.
(Plus, King eating the bounty is just funny).
The Recap Recording: This is a smart way to recap events from the season finale. It might be weird that Luz says things that the audience already knows, but she's not talking to us. She's talking to her mom. So she's going to explain all that she can in a way for Camila to fully understand. Besides, not every fan had repeatedly watched The Owl House Season One over and over again like a bunch of frickin' lunatics...You know who you are.
Plus, as an upside, Luz gets to explain new events and concepts for how she and the rest of the Owl House are making a living. In no way does it feel like forced exposition because, again, she's trying to describe as much as she can to her mother. It's a reasonable and natural way to talk to the audience in order to catch them up while also showing what's been happening since we've last left this show.
Luz Can’t Send Texts to Her Mom: ...Well, Texts to Home, it was fun while it lasted, but the current canon has decided that you're done. I'll miss you and appreciate all that you've done for me, but, yeah, this is the end. Sorry.
Alright, now that I got my jokes out of the way, allow me to explain how this is really a heartbreaking moment. Because the fact that Luz is forever cut off from her mother, even through texts, is an idea that just twists the knife in your heart when you really sit down to think about it. Luz's little goodbye at the end of her video does nothing but makes it worse.
On the upside, we get some solid character development as Luz doesn't even hesitate to send the video to Camila, learning her lesson from "Enchanted Grom Fright" about being more honest. She finally faced her fear, even if it was a fruitless effort.
They’re Doing Odd Jobs Now: This is a smart workaround for how the Owl House residents are making money. Some fans guessed that maybe Eda had so much junk piled up that they wouldn’t worry, but this seems more of a logical direction. Even if Eda had enough garbage to sell, she’ll can and will eventually run out at some point, meaning that they will all have to take the odd jobs anyway. So I appreciate the writers used that plot point sooner rather than later, as a fun romp as bounty hunters is something you want to do early in the season instead of later on. Especially with how Dana Terrace confirmed that s**t’s gonna go down in the future.
Lilith: ...I'm still willing to hold off--What the f**k did I say his name was? *looks up past review* Frederick Ulis--Frederick Ulisinsburg!
I am willing to hold off Frederick Ulisinsburg, for now, because Lilith is...sort of on the right track. I mean, I don't like how quick she was to playfully mock Eda or rudely yell at Hooty. But I do think that there is potential for her character. She feels genuine guilt for what she's done, and there's a chance that the new season will explore that further if the writers are smart (which they are). On top of that, there's a possibility that every time Lilith tries to act cocky or full of herself, she will be treated as a proverbial punching bag because of it. Like how her poster got burned down after boasting how impressive she looks. Or how Golden Guard's poster magically sealed itself to her face when Lilith tried to throw it away. It's the latter that primarily got me cackling like a madman due to how deservingly hilarious it was.
And, well...she happily clapped like a schoolgirl! Which was adorable! I can't hate characters who have the potential to be adorable! It's not in my nature!
So, while I am a little hesitant in liking her, I think there's a chance for improvement in her character in the future that I look forward to. We just have to wait and see if the writers pull it off.
(By the way, to the person that came up with Lilith wearing a "battery low" shirt...you're a genius in visual gags/storytelling.)
Greg’s List: Have I ever mentioned that this show is funny?
Who's Greg? Why does he organize a list of perfect bounties?
I don't know, but the idea of some random person in the Boiling Isles is putting it on himself to set up a list to make bounties...I'm sorry, but that's funny to me. It's also probably for how Craig's List was made, but when you really think about it, Craig's List is a funny idea as well.
Eda Isn’t Feared Anymore: I sort of guessed that this would happen, but seeing it is a whole different level of sympathy to feel for the character. Eda's main schtick was being the most powerful witch on the Isles, and that's gone now. She's forced to adapt to this new normal, which she's quick to do, but still. Tt's got to be a rough kick to the ego now that no one even cares about who she is anymore.
It's a low moment for her character that hopefully sets up her own arc for the rest of the season.
Luz Feels Like She’s a Burden: I will demolish her with love and kindness if she even CONSIDERS talking so poorly about herself again! Because Luz is not a burden. She is a beam of light that literally brightens up the lives of nearly everyone she meets. Eda already explains how her life is better because of Luz (through a heart-tugging speech that almost got to me, by the way), but it's not just Eda.
King now has his first real friend who admires him and treats him like the king he wants to be.
Willow has become much more confident and cheerful because Luz was always in her corner.
Gus learns more about the humans he appreciates with his whole heart while also having a friend that treats him like an equal rather than a kid.
And do I even have to say ANYTHING about Amity?
The Boiling Isles wouldn't be better off without Luz. It's better because of her. And shame on this girl for thinking otherwise...even though I fully understand where she's coming from.
I'm about to get personal for a second, so strap in. Because I am a twenty-somthing-year-old who is currently living with his mom. It's as pathetic as it sounds. But it's because I'm still attending college, and she says school comes first and jobs and apartments come second. Despite that, I feel like trash for just...living here as she still takes care of me and pays for the food I can't afford. She says that I shouldn't worry about it, but I still wait for the day I can finally pay her back for everything. Not some things, but everything. And that's Luz's mentality in this episode. The overwhelming guilt she's feeling for thinking she's inconveniencing Eda's life is something that hits really hard for me. It doesn't matter if it's true, but that she believes it's true. It's a heartbreaking character arc she's forced into for this episode that also adds more to why she's one of the many characters I heavily relate to.
Lulu and Hootstipher: Whoever thought of this idea...I f**king love you.
This is similar to when Noah and Owen became friends in Total Drama World Tour. Seemingly one-sided at first, you see a cute friendship that you would have never expected, but it works! Hooty is this happy and naive character who hardly understands what's going on half the time, and Lilith is...Lilith. Their chemistry is instantly fun as their dynamic is quick to understand.
This also shines with potential for character growth, for it could give Lilith a chance to be more caring and Hooty a chance to be more than just the comic relief. If you were to tell me that this is what was going to happen when the season premiered, I would have thought you were crazy. But now, after seeing it in action, I'm genuinely excited to see where this cute friendship between these two goes.
(As long as it doesn't involve fans shipping them. Because Hooty can do better)
Luz Getting Better with Her Magic: Our little bisexual princess is growing up! And, man, is it awesome to see. Luz going from just barely knowing how to do magic to full-on using her spells like second nature just warms my heart with all the character growth it presents. Now, some people might want an explanation for how she's able to do said spells, to which I say: "Who the f**k cares?"
If you ask me, Luz's magic is one of those things that doesn't need a direct answer because it doesn't matter as much. But if you're going to be a baby about it, here's what I can offer: As far as I can tell, it's equal parts having the glyph and mentally picturing what the spell should do. It's much like how Willow draws a spell circle and can either make giant jungle vines or a patch of flowers to land on. Luz's glyphs are her own spell circles. As long as she concentrates hard enough, she can make the glyph do whatever she wants it to.
There. You have your explanation. Now let's just all appreciate the fact that Luz can now throw fireballs and make vine whips like the superpowered teenager she most likely fantasized of being. Ok? Ok.
A Pirate Losing His Head...Literally: ...And I'm gonna go ahead and add that to the list.
I mean, for f**k's sake, WE SEE BONE! He puts his head back on, but we still see the bone!
Eda in a Pirate Outfit: ...That is all.
The Golden Guard: This guy shows up for only a few minutes, and I'm already beginning to like him. He seems just as threatening as Belos while also coming across as a guy who loves his job and being a ton of fun to watch because of it. I adore villains that find that balance of being funny and terrifying. The result is a character who makes me laugh on top of making me scared of what they could do to our protagonists. So far, that's the Golden Guard in a nutshell, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store with him. Whether it involves seeing him play with food as he did with Eda and Luz in this episode or seeing him getting kicked in the crotch like a little punk like him deserves, I am all for it.
(Bonus points if it's Amity who does the crotch kicking if he ever makes an advancement on Luz)
Eda Wanting to Protect the Selkidomus: I love this. It plays into the idea that Eda cares about things being wild and free and despises how Emperor Belos would want to control everything, including the most insignificant of animals. It shows just how kind Eda really is rather than someone motivated by greed...even if she does end up filthy rich in the end.
Emperor Belos’ Brief Cameo: Yup, still terrifying!
And if it turns out that Belos can see the Scrying Potion that Lilith made...we're going to have some problems.
Much like the actual problems that I have with this episode!
(Like that transition?)
WHAT I DISLIKE
King Being Stupid: King has two different personalities in this series. Either he's a pathetic wannabe ruler who seems intelligent or an idiotic Disney comedic sidekick. That latter version of King is what we get in "Separate Tides," and I don't like it (obviously). I don't care how cute it is to see him cling onto Luz's leg and exclaim how he won't let her leave. The same character who helped Luz break into a prison to save Eda shouldn't be the same one who falls asleep when a sheet covers him like a dumbass parrot! King's at his best when he's as intelligent as the rest of the characters. And not as dumb as someone like Hooty.
Eda Being Too Nice Around Lilith: This one bothers me the most. After being cursed for thirty years and having her life ruined by the person she thought she could trust the most, Eda is still all smiley and jokey when talking to Lilith. Yeah, sorry, but I don't buy that. No one in their right mind would be that cool with a person who did all of what Lilith did. It's a major misstep that squanders what could have been a fantastic overarching story of Eda learning to forgive her sister and Lilith trying to earn it. We'll at least get Lilith's guilt, but as is, I feel Eda showing genuine anger towards her would elevate that story by a lot.
IN CONCLUSION
But that's about all the bad things I have to say about "Separate Tides." As is, it is a well-earned, solid A of a season premiere. It introduces new concepts and characters I can't wait to see more of, continues old storylines and character development instead of ignoring them, and still proves that The Owl House is as charming and funny as it always was. Maybe the rest of the season could continue to be great, or maybe things might get worse. Time can only tell. For now, all I can tell you is that "Separate Tides" is a great and fun episode that makes me excited as we set sail to this new season.
(And Scared. Mostly scared)

Thoughts on Season 2 Thus Far..
I gonna keep most of my thoughts on all the episodes brief, but also long enough where you guys can get the idea of where these episodes stand in levels of importance to me. I already have a lot personal favorites in this first half of the season and hope that the second half will deliver the same energy.
EPISODE 1: Separate Tides
Good episode to start off the second season
Episode does a good job of addressing the different circumstances that Eda, Lilith, and Luz have with adjusting to life after the events of “Young Blood, Old Souls.”
We see the Golden Guard for the first time. With a voice too. I have more to say about him later when I get to the future episodes. But he is a treat!
The reintroduction of the portal and Emperor Belos’ plans for the human world in this episode, does a good job of reminding the audience of what is as stake this season.
Adore Luz and Eda’s pirate outfits ❤
Overall, a strong start to a very ambitious season.
Episode 2: Escaping Expulsion (Personal Favorite)
We finally see Amity’s parents!!!
Wasn’t expecting Odalia’s eyes to be blue, but both parents fit the personalities I originally envisioned them to have
Luz teaching Eda and Lilith to use magic through the glyphs was so cute and shows how different both Eda and Lilith are when it comes to approaching magic
Love how Amity’s separation from Luz was the trigger that caused her to stand up to her parents
Even though I kinda knew the expulsion from Hexside wasn’t going to permanent, it still shows how much pull Amity’s parents have at Hexside and the Boiling Isles.
Looks like the abominations that Alador has made for profit will be used to fulfill whatever plans Emperor Belos has for the human world.
Loved Amity and Luz’s interactions!!!
Episode 3: Echoes of the Past (Personal Favorite)
Fantastic King centered episode
I know that invisibility spell will come in handy in one of the later episodes. Good job, Luz
Hooty and Lilith are a riot this episode. Was not expecting them to get along at all this season.
I thought the show was going to make them polar opposites, but good to see that Hooty has a fan in the house.
King trying to remember his past and recounting his childhood memories was so sad because you realize that he has been trying to find out who he really is this entire time😭
The temple where King was born holds so much history and I hope we go back there soon
Will we find out what happened to King’s dad? What potential does King hold? Find out next time on DBZ!!!
Episode 4: Keeping Up A-fear-ances
Finally get to see Eda and Lilith’s mom and her palisman’s a hawk.
Love the pattern of all members of the Clawthorne family having bird themed palismen. I wonder what palisman Eda’s dad has.
Love how the episode addresses the blatant issue that Gwendolyn has with trying to find a cure for Eda. She cares for her daughter, but she is being blinded by ambition
The scams in the book she was reading were kinda funny tho
Lilith being upset that her mom favors Edal more than her is relatable, but also makes sense considering how the curse impacted Eda’s childhood
Lilith wanting to travel with her mom makes sense and I’m happy she made the decision to do that
Lilith’s beast from is cool
We finally get more information about there being another human that came to the Boiling Isles long ago!!!
We finally catch up with what’s going on at home and see that Luz’s imposter is blending in just fine and Camila is none the wiser. At least that buys Luz some time in the Boiling Isles
Episode 5: Through the Looking Glass Ruins
We get a Gus-centered episode and I’m here for it. I love it when the show deviates from the main narrative and focuses on the supporting cast
Even though I’m not the biggest fans of their personalities, the introduction of the students from Glandus High was great
I really love the character designs of these students, especially Bria, she looks so cute
Gus getting more character development and bonding with Mattholomule was good to see, I hope we see more of their interactions in future episodes
SO MANY LUMITY MOMENTS!!!
Luz getting more attracted to Amity
Amity putting her job on the line, so they could find Philip’s diary
Luz saying that she hopes to show Amity the human world one day
Luz successfully getting Amity’s job back
The kiss on cheek at the end of the episode by Amity
The blushing!!!💜💚-I can go on and on
Amity’s new look fits her well and shows that she is starting to live for herself and not her parents-Good!
Through the help of the Echo Mouse, we also get more information about why Philip came to the Boiling Isle in the first place.
But the Echo Mouse is being picky and stops before it gets good😫
Episode 6: Hunting Palisman (Personal Favorite)
This is my favorite episode of the season so far and probably my top ten favorite episodes of the series.
We are finally introduced to Hunter as the Golden Guard and he is a treat
Everything from his character design, to his goals, to his interactions with Luz make him very intriguing.
The kids begin to pick out their palisman and a lot of them fit their personalities, especially Willow’s.
I’m glad the show is addressing the fact that Luz doesn’t know what she wants to do when she becomes a witch because tbh I’m not sure either. I know she wants to help and protect the people of the Boiling Isles but she can’t really do that if she wants to go back home.
What a good time to bring up this internal conflict
Kikimora wanting to get rid of Hunter makes sense seeing as how the Emperor’s Coven is based of performance
LIST OF FAVORITE HUNTER AND LUZ MOMENTS:
Hunter and Luz’s interaction on Hunter’s ship
Luz slapping Hunter to wake him up😂
Luz stealing Hunter’s staff
Hunter revealing his family history and why he defers to Emperor Belos
These two give off a good sibling vibe and I want to see more of this later
I originally thought the red cardinal was going to be for Luz, but it ends up being Hunter’s palisman at the end of the episode-Interesting
Whatever Luz’s palisman is going to be, I hope it’s an animal that fits her personality because I thought the red cardinal would have been perfect
Maybe she will get a violet-backed starling as a palisman🤔
Hunter comes off as very complex immediately and I love that the show let’s us know that he trying to figure out his place in the Boiling Isles as a powerless being.
Episode 7: Eda’s Requiem
An Eda centered episode is such a plus for this season
So far I feel like the show has had Eda be a main plot point, but she hasn’t really been given her own episode-This episode takes a good step in the right direction
Eda feeling like she’s losing both Luz and King because they have both trying to find out more about their personal journeys is equivalent to a mother accepting that fact that her kids are moving across the country 😥
Eda reuniting with Raine is nice to see. You can automatically tell right off the bat that they have history
Raine being a rebel against Emperor Belos while working under Emperor Belos as a coven leader is BOLD AF
I see why Eda fell for them
We are introduced to the Abomination and Beast Keeping Coven leaders and I love their character designs, especially for Darius
The scene where Raine and Eda play together was so beautiful and does a fantastic job of representing how pure their relationship was and currently is
I love how Raine realizing that Eda has more to live for than she thinks and puts a stop to the song they play in order to sacrifice himself
I know we are going to see Raine again, but I really hope Belos doesn’t do anything bad to them. Raine is a sweetheart
Even though Luz and King lose the Gland Plix race, it was still nice to see that Eda came towards the end of the face.
The reveal of King wanting to take Eda’s last name at the end of the episode is one of the main reasons why I love King and Eda’s relationship. They really do come off as mother and son❤
Episode 8: Knock, Knock, Knockin’ on Hooty’s Door (Personal Favorite)
This is a Hooty’s centered episode which is a first for this show, but this ended up being one of my favorite episodes of the show because of what it addresses
Hooty helping King accidently discover his powers was a shock to me because I just through their interaction was going to end up being pointless
King can now be more useful in battle 😁
We finally see Eda’s dad and see why Eda has a hard time accepting her cursed side.
We also learn how the curse has negatively impacted her relationship with so many people, such as Raine 😥
Eda accepting her cursed side is the first step to begin this traumatic healing process. At this point, I don’t think the show will cure Eda of her curse and I don’t think they should honestly. It teaches the audience that you sometimes have to live with what you have whether it be a disease, a physical disability or mental illness.
GOOD LESSON👌👌
Eda’s harpy form looks amazing. I can’t wait to see what the show will do with this form in the future.
Hooty helping Luz with her crush on Amity was one of the best parts of the episode.
The Tunnel of Love scene and the mixed signals from Luz and Amity had be dying🤣
Luz building up the courage to ask Amity out was so sweet and so real at the same time.
It came off as real conversation between awkward teens trying to figure a romantic relationship out🥰
LUMITY IS CANON!!!😍💜💚
This happened sooner than I thought, but I’m glad it did. This is huge, especially for a Disney show.
Just when I started to like Hooty a lot more, he had to mess it up when he ate a letter from someone who could be King’s dad (?)
DANG IT, HOOTY
Hooty freaking out when he thinks he messed with helping King, Eda and Luz never got old 😂
The comedy was on point with this episode and I love how everything just falls in to place.
Episode 9: Eclipse Lake(Personal Favorite)
This episode had so much going on and I have a lot to say.
We get back to the Emperor Belos plotline of him trying to get to the human world and find out the Belos has actually been to the human world previously🤔
I wonder what Belos wants to do with Hunter and how he relates to these “plans”
Hunter is totally going to get betrayed by his uncle 😥
Amity’s palisman is adorable, I guess she got it off-screen
“DragonClaw Z”😂😂😂
Love how everyone is coming together to protect the house, it shows they really know what’s at stake
Amity using every opportunity she gets to call Luz her girlfriend is so cute❤
Hard to believe she hated his girl’s guts at the beginning of last season lol
Sick Luz is funny Luz
More lore about the secrets of the Boiling Isles and Titan’s Blood
I really wish Luz could have came to Eclipse Lake with the rest of the cast, but I guess the rest of the cast needed to experience Hunter for themselves lol
Hunter being roasted by Eda, King and Amity was hilarious 😂
“A bad, but sad boy.”-Yep that’s our Hunter 🤣
Hunter trying to get into Amity’s head concerning her relationship with Luz and her role in the Boiling Isles was surprising
I’m going to assume that Amity hasn’t been in a romantic relationship before so everything with Luz is new to her. Amity is usually very level-headed.
Even though Harpy-Eda is cool, I like that Eda doesn’t know how to control his form yet, it shows that she has a lot to learn before this form this 100% mastered
Hunter’s desperation to get his uncle’s approval is just sad; I really want to know his backstory because this isn’t it at all
Praise King for helping Amity figure out the text messages🙌
I love how Amity tries to relate to Hunter, it sweet and shows how much she has grown. If only see did a better job of hiding the key 😣
The fight between Amity and Hunter is amazing. I love when the show just flexes its animation like this.
It may not be better than Eda and Lilith’s fight, but I still felt the tension between these two characters. When these two grow up, they are going to be some of the most powerful witches in the Boiling Isles for sure.
Hunter getting to Amity’s head about harming Luz is a low blow imo, but I’m glad Amity knew what was at stake in the situation
Crushing the key was smart tho. Even in stressful situations like these, Amity still keeps her cool. We love to see it😉
Luz can now use some of the Titan’s Blood from Amity’s glove to try to return back home!!!
This episode had no business being this good. When the plot kicks in the show, it never fails to deliver.
Episode 10: Yesterday’s Lie (Personal Favorite)
We finally catch up with what’s going on back on Earth and find out more about Luz’s impersonator.
The gang making a makeshift portal out all of Eda’s junk is very creative. I wondered what they were going to do with that stuff now that Eda can’t sell human collectables anymore.
The dimension that Luz enters through the portal is very trippy and creative. It makes sense since the portal they made is not authentic.
Luz mirror hoping and seeing someone impersonate her had to be scary. I couldn’t imagine.
We find out that Luz’s impersonator is actually a creature from the Boiling Isles known as a “Basilisk”
Vee’s backstrory is awful, I completely understand why she came to Earth and got comfortable after what she went through
We find out that Eda interacted with humans with an alias known as “Marylin”😂
Even though Luz doesn’t find a way home, this is the next best thing to let her mom know that she is okay.
Jacob gave off weird vibes immediately, so when he captures Vee to use her for fame, I wasn’t surprised.
What did surprise me was the fact that Jacob has been watching Vee for a while and he had the house where she transformed in monitored
I wonder if he’s seen anything else🤔
Camila is the GOAT. She came through and helped Vee out. A lot of people would have just ignored the situation, but she knew that Vee was important to Luz and I respect that👏👏
I’m glad she also agrees to keep Vee despite the situation
The scene between Luz and Camila was very heart-wrenching. Luz came clean about everything and Camila’s reaction to that was expected but it was still sad to see
The music and Camila trying to reach out to Luz was just 😭
This episode is a great mid-season finale. This episode addressed so much and foreshadows a lot of plot points to come in the later episodes.
The first half of season 2 had some bangers. More than half of these episodes are already in my top favorites of the series and we still have 11 episodes left. Good Job Owl House. I can’t wait see what the other half has left in store 🙌🙌

Distraction (Part 1) - Theo Raeken
Summary: Based off the song Distraction by Kehlani. You’re stressed with all your college activities but Theo turns out to be the distraction you need to get through it. This will be a three part series.
Word Count: 2,555
Warnings: Cursing, mentions of sex
Author’s Note: I’m a little late with this song but I love it so much. Obviously it fit Theo. Also, I’m not one to endorse casual sex but do whatever floats your boat. Just make sure you wrap it up.
Masterlist
College. A way to get away from all the drama in Beacon Hills. You did the research and hadn’t heard about any “mysterious animal attacks” near your school. After the previous year you had, you wanted to be far away from all supernatural issues. You were human, so it shouldn’t be too hard get away from the werewolf drama. Of course, if the pack needed you, you would be there. With Ms. Monroe making an army of hunters, they needed all the help they could get. They seemed to have things pretty well handled when you left. It was almost like when Argent was hunting wolves. Except Monroe didn’t follow any particular code like he did.
It was the second week of school and you were already stressed. You had a plan for college which consisted of you getting as involved as possible and making straight A’s. During high school, you were pretty busy helping save the town and spending time with your boyfriend. The days of running for your life were over, and there was no boyfriend occupying your free time.
There was a pep rally on campus for the game on Saturday, and you and your roommate were watching all the players get called on stage.
“Who knew there were so many hot guys at this school,” Camila asked clapping her hands as the coach introduced another player. Her eyes were ogling the players on stage so she didn’t see you roll your eyes. “Where were all these guys when I toured the campus?”
“Probably hiding because they knew you were coming,” you replied laughing.
“Oh shut up,” she turned and smiled at you. “There’s gotta be one guy up there you find good-looking.”
“I’ll admit they look good, but I’m not here for that.”
“Then what the heck are you here for,” Camila asked, slightly confused by your response.
“To get an education. You know, the whole reason college was invited in the first place,” you nodded explaining to your friend.
“I guess,” she said turning to look back at the players. “You gotta have a little fun though.”
“I don’t need a guy to have fun, Cami. I’ve got plans. And getting distracted by some college boy isn’t going to help me achieve them.”
“Yeah, but you know what they say. All work and no play makes Y/N a dull girl.”
“What’s not fun about world domination,” you shrugged and giggled.
“And now,” you heard the coach announce on the microphone, “Our second-string players. First up, the freshman star all the way from Beacon Hills, Theo Raeken.”
“What,” you shouted with a baffled and somewhat irritated expression on your face.
Theo came jogging up on stage waving to the cheering crowd. It felt like slow motion to you. His brown hair bounced with each step he took. His bluish green eyes shined bring in the stadium lights.
“Oh, fuck,” you whispered under your breath, but Camila still heard you.
“What? What’s going on?”
“I know him,” you said very annoyed.
“You know him,” Camila said astonished. You nodded but she wanted you to clarify. “Him,” she asked again pointing.
“Yeah, we went to school together.”
“You’ve gotta give me more details girl. He’s smoking. Do you mean know him like ‘we had a few classes together but never spoke’ or ‘he actually acknowledged my presence and his gorgeous lips formed words that were only designed for me’?”
You raised your eyebrow at your over the top friend. “I wouldn’t say it exactly like that, but the second one. We were almost friends.”
“You were almost friends with that Greek God,” she asked a little too loudly for your liking. “What the hell happened?”
“I don’t want to get into too much detail, but he wasn’t the nicest guy back then. He was in the grade above me, but he had some…” you looked for the right words to say before you spoke, “family issues come up and he had to leave suddenly.” Your mouth turned up at the little joke you made that you knew Camila wouldn’t understand. “He came back the next year and finished. We graduated together but I had no idea he was going to college let alone go here of all places.”
“Well thank God for second chances because I’m gonna climb him like a tree,” Cami said readjusting her boobs in her top.
You shook your head at Camila and brought your attention back to the coach. The pep rally lasted five more minutes then you made your way over to the free snacks provided by the school. Cami walked off somewhere to flirt with one of the players. You said you would meet up in ten minutes to walk back to your dorm together.
“I had family issues huh,” a deep voice said from behind you. You didn’t need to turn around to recognize who said it. You sighed before you turned around regretting even coming out tonight.
Theo was smirking at the remark he was eavesdropping in on earlier. “What was I supposed to say? Your sister popped out of the ground like a jack-in-the-box and dragged you to hell? She would have reported me and had me admitted into the psych ward.”
“I doubt she would have cared since I’m a, oh what was it, a Greek God.”
You rolled your eyes. Theo was already cocky. The last thing you needed was your roommate’s comments stroking his ego. “Whatever, quarterback. Oh wait, second string quarterback. What are you doing here anyway,” you asked crossing your arms over your chest.
“The same thing you’re probably here for. To get an education.”
The line moved, so you took a few steps so you wouldn’t lose your place. “Oh bullshit. Why would you want an education?”
“Well some of us don’t have mommy and daddy to take care of them. It was either getting a full ride scholarship or keep living out of my truck. And I thought actually doing something with my life and having a place to live was better than being a sitting target for one of Monroe’s hunters.”
The scowl on your face slowly softened as Theo spoke. Even though he started off annoying with that mommy and daddy remark, you felt bad he had to live out of his truck. Killing Scott had put him on your permeant hate list, but he did help with the Ghost Riders and keeping Liam safe. And maybe karma had its way with Theo when he got dragged to hell by his sister. That may have been punishment enough.
“Fine. Just don’t get in my way here. I’m trying to make something of myself and I don’t need my supernatural past coming back to haunt me.”
Theo raised his hands up in defense. “I wouldn’t dream of it, babygirl.”
You looked at him disgusted. “And don’t call me babygirl.”
It had been a month since the pep rally and you tried to keep your distance from Theo. You didn’t even want to bring up his name, which is why the pack didn’t know he was at the same college as you.
“How do I look,” Camila asked stepping out of your shared bathroom in a red dress.
“You look great. Where are you going,” you asked looking up from your homework.
“Elliot is taking me out to a fancy restaurant.” Camila went over to her mirror to put on the finishing touches.
“Date number 3. Are things getting serious?”
“Oh God no. We’re just having fun. I mean, I do like him, but we’re young. I’m not trying to rush into anything,” she spoke as she sprayed her perfume in the air and walked into the cloud of smoke. “Don’t tell me you’re staying in here to study on a Saturday night.”
“I won’t then,” you said. You turned back around in your computer chair to face your desk.
“You’re not staying in here on another weekend.”
“Yes I am.”
“No. You. Are. Not,” she spoke emphasizing each word as she typed on her phone. “I just texted the girls and they’ll be here in 30 minutes to pick you up for the party.”
“Roommate say what now,” you asked turning back towards your friend.
“There’s a house party tonight. Molly, Candice, and Raven are going and so are you.”
“But I don’t want to go to a party. I’ve got so much crap on my plate. I’ve got a test next week, a paper to write, I’m working out the details for the project committee I’m on in my club, and I’m trying to get secure my spot as an RA next year. All that takes work.”
Camila’s head was down snoring then she suddenly jumped up shaking her head. “I fell asleep just listening to you. You’ve got too much going on and it’s not even midterms yet. You need a distraction from your boring, stressful life.”
“My life isn’t boring,” you responded defending yourself.
“Prove it,” Cami said crossing her arms over her chest.
“Ughhh, fine. I’ll go. I can be fun.” You got up from your chair and went to your closet to find something to wear to the party. Sweatpants and school t-shirt weren’t appropriate for any party.
An early 2000’s song roared through the speakers. You stuffed another chip in your mouth as you watched everybody dance. A couple came through the kitchen door holding hands. The guy pushed the girl against the wall watching her giggle. She ran her manicured figures in his black hair and stared into his eyes. You rolled your eyes and grabbed another chip from the bowl
Couples always annoyed you. You weren’t always so cynical, but being in love and having your heart ripped out of your chest will do that to you. Brett and you used to be that annoyingly cute. He was your whole world. It sounds pretty cliché, falling in love in high school, but Brett loved you to the moon and back. The two of you talked about going to college together and eventually getting married. You were young, but you knew Brett was it for you.
When Monroe killed Brett, it was like a piece of died with him. It was a year ago, but the pain still hurt. You swore one day you would get your revenge on Ms. Monroe. Scott would disapprove, but you didn’t care. Camila though you were weird for not being interested in any guys at school, but you just weren’t ready. You were focused on your studies and clubs. Guys would just take your attention away from that. You did miss getting affection and attention though. There was no rush for a relationship, but it would be nice to have someone around.
“Having fun,” a voice asked from behind you.
“Tons. This party is so much fun,” you answered sarcastically turning around to face Theo. Theo had grown a bit of beard since the last time you saw him. You would hate to admit it out loud, but he looked real good with facial hair. You began to wonder why he didn’t grow a beard sooner.
Theo smirked hearing your heartbeat quicken for just a moment. “I’m having a blast too,” he smiled coping your sarcasm. He popped a chip in his mouth and you admired the way light hit eyes making them twinkle. “Did your friends drag you here like mines?”
“Yeah, my roommate thinks I’m boring for spending Saturday night in our dorm doing homework.”
“You are boring for spending Saturday night in your dorm doing homework,” Theo smiled repeating you.
“Oh shut up,” you spoke smacking Theo on the arm.
Theo laughed before he spoke. “I see you on campus Y/N. Your nose is always stuck in some book or you’re speed walking to class.”
“Well I’ve got a lot going on.”
“I see that,” Theo nodded giving you a once over. “You have to learn to relax sometimes. Take a break. Don’t be so stressed all the time.”
“And how do you propose I do that,” you questioned staring into Theo’s gorgeous eyes.
“For starters you can dance with me,” Theo said stretching his hand out to yours.
You squinted at Theo questioningly not sure of what to do.
“It’s just a dance Y/N, I won’t bite.” You reluctantly grabbed Theo’s handing thinking what’s the worst that could happen. Theo led you to the living room and though the music was loud, you still heard him say “hard” in reference to him biting you.
Theo started moving to the beat pulling you closer to him. You stood there awkward. Just a month ago you wanted nothing to do with Theo Raeken, but now here you were next to him. Theo dipped down, his lips ghosting over your ear so you could hear him over the music. “It’s just a dance Y/N.”
Rolling your eyes, you began to dance with Theo. One dance wouldn’t hurt anything. Theo’s hand grabbed your hip as you swayed to the music. You felt his fingers on the skin in between your jeans and the bottom hem of your shirt. Your skin was on fire at his touch, but you just chalked it up to not being this close to a guy since Brett.
The beat changed a little and you turned around so your back was facing Theo. He wrapped his arm tighter around your waist and you pulled closer into him. You flipped your hair throwing over your shoulder and felt Theo’s warm breath fan against your neck.
One song turned into two and two songs turned into three. It had been a long time since you danced with a guy. A small part of you felt bad. Like you shouldn’t be dancing so close with Theo. Then you thought about how you sulked around for the last year over Brett. You were just dancing, not starting a relationship with him. And besides, everyone needed a bit of human contact every now and again.
You ran your hands through Theo’s hair watching as he bit his lip. Brett was your first and only. You never even thought about having sex with another guy until now.
“I just thought of another way you can help me relax,” you said in a low tone.
“And how’s that,” Theo asked tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear.
You placed your hands on Theo’s checks and pulled him in for a kiss. His soft, warm lips moved gently over yours. It was obvious he was just as attracted to you as you were to him.
You pulled back gazing into his eyes. You didn’t care that there was a room full of people around you watching you kiss the quarterback. “You were right. My life is stressful. I’ve got a lot going on. So maybe you could be my distraction from all that.”
“I’m listening,” Theo said gripping your hips as you kept moving to the music.
“This will be purely physical. No relationship. No strings attached. I can’t have anyone or anything take my attention away from school. But when things get to hectic and I need break-“
“I’ll be your distraction,” Theo finished for you.
“Exactly. So do we have an agreement?”
Theo smiled showing all his beautiful white teeth. “I’m down.”
