Another fun and silly episode, just what I needed after school work and WOTFI. Still can't believe they made it into an actual episode haha! Having the Star Trio in an episode is always a blast! I truly enjoyed this one.

As much as I find it funny that Four needed Three as a parental guardian to be on the teacup ride, it would be a bit better if the reason for the age gun was that they never got to be actual kids, unlike the rest of the crew. Then we could've gotten baby Four and Three, oh the possibilities. Maybe that's just me idk, but I'm happy with what we got.

And the Ferris wheel in the Showgrounds again, at this point it's a sign. I have to gather my thoughts together for my "Ferris Wheel Wedding" idea.

Fun Fact: for those who are wondering, the WOTFI website is surprisingly still up! Ofc you can't put submissions in anymore but I find it hilarious.

Fun Fact 2: the guy who made the faces for Mr. Puzzles has a proper Twitter now (link)! Go and show some support to the Team! I do want to bring it up because the Team may have made some editing/animation errors (like the subtitles having SMG4 instead of SMG3) and people are getting upset about that, but it's literally not a big deal. I know the Team is trying their hardest to bring out episodes every week. Besides, mistakes could go under the radar, it simply happens.

The Journal

Summary: You work IT for the GAR, and through that you met Sev, the actual love of your life. Only, because he doesn't know you exist, you spend your time sketching and writing sippets about him. One night, he sees your journal.

A/N: I hope this is close to what you wanted? I kept starting it and then having to change things to make the plot work.

You bit your lower lip as you read over the sentence you just wrote, considering your word usage critically. It’s always important to make sure that the words flow properly, even though you’re the only person who’s ever going to read it.

What you’re doing is weird.

It is. You know it, but you can’t help yourself.

After all, it’s not like Sev would ever deign to look at you…let alone do anything that you fantasize about with you.

Which means that your own release is by sketching scenes, and then writing the scenes that you sketched.

It’s awful and humiliating. But since it’s just you, and since you’re so very careful about making sure that your sketchbook is always safe, then you don’t mind half as much as you normally would.

You critically eye the words again.

Sev slides his hands down your sides, whispered praises falling from his lips as you sink down his hard length, his pupils flared with arousal-

Ugh. It’s garbage. 

Utter trash.

You erase some of the words, consider for a moment, and then write them again.

It’s still trash, but your brain doesn’t seem to have the right words at the moment. Maybe you need to take a break. You set the protector over the pencil drawing, and snap your sketchbook shut, and you slide it into your work bag absently.

Maybe you’ll have the words after a long night of night shift work.

Probably not, you have to replace and update all of the computers on base tonight.

You quickly check to make sure that your uniform is clean and neat looking, and then you grab your bag and your datapad, and you head out the apartment.

You live close enough to base that you can walk, and, honestly, you couldn’t catch a cab at this time of night anyway. Not to mention, the walk helps clear your mind and prepares you for the night you’re about to have.

As soon as you’re on base, you make your way to the office all of IT has to share, set your bag on your desk, and grab your datapad. Your office mate Holly, the other member of IT who drew the short straw for the overhaul, greets you with a tired smile.

“Are you ready?” She asks as she pulls her long blonde hair into a tail.

“Does it matter if I’m not?” You ask with an amused grin as you stick a pen in your hair.

“Not at all,” Holly replies with a laugh. “Come on, I have the key to where they’re keeping the new computers.”

“I don’t suppose the boss told you what to do with the old computers?” You ask dryly as you trail after her down the hall.

“He said, quote, “you know what to do you stupid girl” end quote.” Holly replies with a roll of her eyes, “So I’m guessing we need to stack the old computers where the new ones are.”

“Makes sense.”

Holly leads you through the winding halls, until she stops at the storage room door, and she checks her datapad. “Um…here, this is the one.” She waves the keycard over the panel and keys in the door code, and you push the door open and peer into the room.

“Hm.”

“What?”

“There are a lot of computers here.” You say with a sigh.

Holly peers over your shoulder, and she sighs as well. “We might as well start loading up carts.”

Three hours later, you’re alone in the IT office, working on disconnecting the computers and hooking up the new ones, when the door opens. “IT is closed for the night,” You say, your voice muffled since you’re under a desk. “Oh, come on, disconnect you stupid piece of-”

“I know,” The deep voice of Sev startles you enough that you pull yourself out from under your desk, “I was just coming to check on you, since Miss Holly nearly fell off her ladder.”

“Oh. Well I’m not doing any of the ladder work, I have a thing.”

“A thing?”

“About heights. And falling.”

He chuckles, “Reasonable,” He looks around the room, “You need any help with anything?”

“...can you put that box on my cart for me?”

Sev chuckles again, “Yeah, I have you mesh’la.” He picks up the box, which has an old computer in it, and moves it to the cart, bumping your desk as he does so.

Just as Sev turns to leave the room, he pauses. “Huh, looks like someone lost their journal.”

“Journal?” You glance at him, and then pale when you see your sketchbook in his hands, “Ah! Wait! That’s mine…and it’s personal-” He flips open the journal and you feel a hot flush of shame.

With him wearing his helmet, you have no way to know what he’s thinking, though you’re not sure you’d be able to tell even if he wasn’t wearing his helmet. 

“I…I can explain-” You offer weakly, but you trail off, because you don’t have an explanation. Not a good one, at least. 

Sev’s shifts slightly, and you have the feeling that he’s staring at you, “Can I hold onto this?”

“I’d…rather you didn’t.”

“What if I promise that I’m the only one who will see it?”

You hesitate, “Are you confiscating it?” You ask anxiously.

“No.” His voice is surprisingly gentle, “I promise you’ll get it back in the same condition as it is now.”

“...okay.” The sketchbook vanishes into one of his many pockets, and then Sev is gone, and you are stuck trying to finish the overhaul while knowing that the man that you’ve been crushing on, and fantasizing over, now has access to all of your fantasies.

Needless to say, you’re a little anxious.

Three days later, you’re still really anxious. 100% because Sev still hasn’t returned your sketchbook to you and while you were worried before, it’s been ramped up. A lot.

So when you get a visitor when you’re working on a commission for someone, your heart drops. 

You check to see who’s there, and when you see Sev, you get even more nervous, your mind running though dozens of different scenarios, all of them worse than the one before it.

But, slowly, you open the door. 

“Um…Hi.”

He’s dressed in casual clothes today, and while normally that would be something for you to enjoy, you’re far too anxious to actually enjoy it.

He gazes at you for a moment, “Can I come in?”

“Ah, yes. Sorry,” You move to the side and he steps into your apartment. You shut the door behind him, and then nervously step around him, “Can I get you something?”

Sev is quiet for a moment, his gaze flickering around your apartment. It’s covered in various pieces of artwork that you’ve done, and then he looks at you and offers you your notebook. “Sorry it took me so long to return it.”

You take the journal back and fold your arms around it, “Um…you’re not…mad?”

“No.”

“Uh…that’s good, but why?”

He folds his arms over his chest, “Why would I be?”

You glance down at the notebook, and then back at him, slightly lost, “Uh…you did see some of the things I sketched, right?”

“I did. I looked at all of it.” Sev replies, and then a slow grin crosses his face, “Like I said, it’s in the same condition you gave it to me in. But, I did add a page, you should take a look.”

You watch him suspiciously, but open the journal, flipping until you find the loose page he’s talking about. It takes you a moment to recognize what you’re looking at, but then your face flames.

It’s you. And him. With him balls deep inside you.

You turn your wide gaze up to Sev, and he smirks, “What, you thought you were the only one with seemingly impossible fantasies?”

You glance back at the picture, “Seemingly impossible?”

“Sure, why would a pretty thing like you be interested in a mere clone?”

Your head snaps up, “I have never thought that! Ever!” 

Sev smirks and takes a step closer to you, before he carefully flips to another page, where a nearly identical picture to the one that he sketched sits on the page, “I know that now. You didn’t get my tattoos, but that’s okay, you’ve never seen me shirtless. Yet.”

“Yet?”

His gaze is very intense, “Yet.” Sev agrees, “Unless you’d rather wait before we make any of these,” He taps the journal, “Come true.”

“I think I missed a whole part of this conversation,” You finally say.

Sev chuckles and takes your journal from your hands, tossing it on the table in the middle of the room, and then he pins you against the wall with his arm folded over your head. 

He lowers his head so that you can feel his breath against your skin, “I’m saying,” Sev murmurs, “That I feel the same way about you as you feel about me.” Your lips part, “And I’m saying that I want to make all of those fantasies come true.”

He lowers his head so that his lips are right over yours, “What do you say, sarad?”

You blink at him, and then lean up to catch his lips with yours.

You feel him grin as he presses against you, and then he nips your lower lip and soothes the spot with his tongue. 

Sev kisses with the same intensity that he does everything, and you’re not really surprised when you feel his hands dipping under your clothes to caress your bare skin. 

He lifts you with ease, and encourages you to wrap your legs around his waist. “Where’s your bedroom, sarad?” Sev asks, his voice a low rumble.

“Down the hall, first door on the left.”

Sev catches your lips with his again as he walks down the hall and pushes your bedroom door open. He lays you down on your bed and follows you down, kneeling between your spread legs, before he breaks the kiss.

He pulls his shirt off, and immediately pulls your hands to his chest, and you take the opportunity to explore him with great enthusiasm. He kisses you again as you explore him with your fingers, realizing that you’re going to need to wait before you can explore him with your eyes.

“Before we go any further,” Sev murmurs against your lips, “I want to know-”

“Yes?”

“Is this going to be a one time thing, or is it going to be a relationship?”

It takes you a moment to process the question, “Why?”

“Because I’m going to fuck my girlfriend a hell of a lot differently than I’m going to fuck a one night stand.” Sev sucks a mark high on your neck, “Take your pick, sarad.”

“I’d like to be your girlfriend,” You say through a quiet moan as he sucks another mark onto your neck.

Sev grins, “A good choice.” He tugs on your shirt, “Strip, sarad. I’m going to make you feel amazing.”

i thought for sure there had to be a katarin/rayne fic -somewhere- out there, probably floating around in the depths of livejournal. no luck, though. unbelievable 'cause to me it's so slashy. don't people like vampires?? i did learn in the course of that search that the original tv guide listing when the movie aired was "ludicrous adaptation of the gory video game" and see a couple of people agreeing with me that the best performance by far is katarin's very campy dad, so i guess that's something

escritoireazul wrote in her recap, "i'd say katarin eating that apple was a nice sign of the temptation and a fall to come, but that's probably too subtle." i feel like she could be onto something there. i wish she'd written for them. any katarayne (still trying to get that one off the ground) fic is probably gonna have to have a strong tooth focus anyway. you know every time she catches a glimpse of rayne's fangs she suddenly remembers she's not dealing with a human and feels a hot shuddering wave of…revulsion. yeah, that. nothing else. she's not pressing the pad of her thumb to the point of her sword and wondering or anything

Actually unbelievable that's there's nothing about them out there. I think the most I've ever seen is a few people bringing it in the tags on posts here, but that's not really anything. Hard not to love Rin's campy father, honestly.

I still wanna write something for Katarin and Rayne!! That was my first thought when I watched the movie back in like... March I think? I drew some fanart and everything, which I'm not gonna share 'cause I don't like either drawing haha. One was just Katarin telling Rayna she had no place in Brimstone. Edited over it was that tweet that reads something along the lines of "I had a crush on a girl and didn't know how to deal with it, so I wrote her note telling her to get out of my school."

I have a roleplay blog where Katarin is one of my muses and that's about the extent of BloodRayne-related writing I've done so far, unfortunately :P

My main thought for a Katarayne fic is centered around the dueling scene, but I'm also generally into the concept of Katarin getting badly injured and being unable to fathom it when Rayne helps her, but having to suck it up and accept it because she can hardly stand, let alone mount her horse and get back to Brimstone's fortress.

I've rewatched the movie maybe four or five times at this point, which is probably more times than anybody else had made the active decision to sit down and dedicate their time to it. I love it, yet I would never recommend it to another human being because it's awful <3

I have a deep love for how much their outfits stick out. I mean, Rayne has the excuse of it being based off her outfit from the games. And also being in a circus, I guess? But her friend that she accidentally bites has a pretty normal dress on, so...

Katarin has no excuse. Obsessed with when she's about to go in the water and she's standing next to dudes in the most like, bland medieval attire imaginable. Shapeless tunics, plain belts, boots, and trousers in brown and beige... And Katarin is wearing a lavender jacket and 00s capris. Vaguely unrelated, but also love how she cleans her sword off with the end of her cape.

I read fanfic at a snail's pace, so I haven't finished your Tomboy rewrite yet, but it's really good so far! I also have a few of your F&F and Blue Crush fics in my bookmarks and didn't even realize until I was trying to find something the other day lol. Anyway, I'd definitely read a katarayne fic from you. Or about whatever the hell is going on with the tailor

My queue right now is astronomically high compared to what it has been since my return to this community. It is full of reblogs in which I have left my love and adoration for all the beautiful work this community creates and I want to start making it a habit again.

It is my personal belief that reblogs are how this community thrives. Its how people get introduced to one another and how your work finds new people and I want to be one of those blogs out there who are constantly reblogging to uplift my fellow creators again. I want to break the habit of silently reblogging and start forging bonds with people again. I want to get to know you guys and interact more (send more asks and tag in more memes) and this is my first foot forward in doing just that!!

@shroudkeeper and @airis-ray both tagged me in this post and I just wanted to extend the most heart warming thank you to you both. Seeing people recommend my work gives me the biggest confidence boost in a community where my past has left me sorely lacking confidence. You both have inspired this trend for me and it just goes to show how far a little kindness can go.

I also want to give the biggest shout out in the world to @thefreelanceangel who is literally a huge part of why I'm still here and why I returned at all. All of your reblogs, heart warming tags, and encouragement is initially what drew me back in to writing and creating here instead of continuing to privately with write and interact with @gatheredfates and other friends. You make my skills as a writer and screenshot photographer feel incredibly valued and you inspire me to keep on creating. Thank you so much for that, because I honestly believe that without you (and Sea) I would not be present here.

And last, but certainly not least, the loudest shout out to my hype lady and the platonic love of my life, @gatheredfates who literally keeps me and my creativity going every day. Listen, her tags might be a little unhinged, but no one encourages me like she does. Her Ask/Question drive (you should check it out) is also hella inspiring and I love how much you do for this community both publicly and behind the scenes. This woman is an absolute angel and probably the best person I know. I love you dearly! Oh hello again, I'm touched! I just throw things at a wall until I feel they stick honestly, and I appreciate this opportunity greatly. I'm so very normal about him.

2. When I think I truly started to like them 

Oh I know this one with certainty, the interrogation scene with Eto! Specifically when he was spinning around on his chair and keeping a far-too cheery tone while having a very serious conversation and being actively insulted, because I am not immune to the persuasive power of “Oh hey, I do the same thing.” Also how he instantly gets sent into a mental breakdown induced by Eto, which is my favorite variety of such. 

3. A song that reminds me of them

I’ve talked about this right? Bears repeating anyways, Malmo. Very Furuta-like, in lyrics and energy. Or Quixote, there’s only one english cover (by Micchi) but I would recommend it. Not because it’s the best song ever or anything but just because it very effectively communicates what I mean. ( The fruits of my labor offer nothing in my favor/ What if I spin a little lie of a life unlived/ Worshipping the dance of a hero's dream, you idiots are caught up in a fantasy/ etc. ) Also I subconsciously stole the jacket I drew Shikorae in that one time from it.

4. How many people I ship them with

Two. Neither of them are Kaneki, Eto, or Rize, and both of them have me and a piece of lint as a population but I'm open to others. 13. Koori, but "friendship" is generous. I do think he meant his apology.

15. Worst storyline they had

I feel like his “pet the dog” moment (When a villain is shown in a genuinely sympathetic light) during his fight with Kaneki could’ve been a much better scene than just. Further objectification of Rize. Walking on eggshells with this one because I don’t know how to state it but there were better ways to prove that despite his efforts he was still human, because he’s said he wants to marry her before, it’s not new! He’s said he wants to have a family with her, and it was never painted in a sympathetic or endearing light up until that point, by the narrative or by Furuta himself, it was always “Oh look at how disgusting I am!” and suddenly trying to flip it around to “Well he genuinely cared about her all along” isn’t super effective. It works to a degree but it could be better. Maybe if it was mentioned less or if it was simply them being happy together. Could be my bias because I hate that they’re cousins but I don’t feel like I need to apologize for that.  16. A childhood headcanon

I think he was really good at hide and seek for some reason.

20. A weird headcanon

Everything about this guy is a little weird, but I think he’d just drink straight coffee creamer. Out of the pump. No one in the CCG feels comfortable using it anymore after seeing Furuta in the breakroom like some sort of lactose demon. Also I have like a whole concept of how he could be trans because why not, but it’s one of those headcanons I desperately only want when it’s mine and a certain kind of other people’s, because I know canon and certain fans would mess it up so terribly and turn it into another “awful because trans” not “awful and trans.” Anyways yeah, assigned gender is very important to the Washuu for obvious reasons and I think the concept of one being scarred by the experience and struggling with their identity on several levels would be interesting and I kind of want to write something about it one day. Doesn’t have to be Furuta, a trans garden child would just be neat. 

22. When do you think they were at their lowest? He's never gotten the chance to be 100% content and happy at almost any point, but I'd say after his fight with Kaneki because, in his eyes his attempts to make the absolute most of his life in spite of it, and make sure a situation like his would never happen again were all for naught. They swapped out one organization for another and the people and ghouls who needed help the most were never given it.

28. The most unnecessary thing they ever did?

I could rant about this for a while but in short, it's one of very few times we see him actually do something "just because." His actions might seem dressed up or ridiculous but there's always an ends to his means and a goal in the act. Here's different. you know i'm rewatching the gallavich wedding planning and i can't help but feel like i don't know who this is, but it ain't mickey! them writing him to be all specific about colors and sh*t, like where's the real mickey from s4 who was annoyed with that guy listing beer types? i get they wanted to do that dumb gag but they should've used someone else for it. i mean ian's the one who was always meticulous about details, they showed that from the beginning. i don't know i just found it so weird

Aw, yeah. I get that reaction -- I think it’s pretty widely shared. And I suspect that storyline did come from someone pitching “it’d be funny if Mickey was a groomzilla.” Which is an idea I find annoying. Because I find the whole bridezilla thing annoying. 

But... I kinda love it, to be honest. 

I really like the idea that Mickey has an aesthetic and some artistic tendencies. We know he draws. I think there’s some indication in canon that Mickey is creative -- both in problem solving and in, let’s say, his sartorial choices. Mickey seems to act on things a lot. He’s not buying those hoodies without sleeves. He is creating hoodies without sleeves.  

Ian IS meticulous... or at least, he’s organized. He’s also given to executing a plan that isn’t necessarily of his own devising. He is drawn to uniforms and he seeks out knowledge he can apply to systems and processes. He seems to have an appreciation for creativity and art, but he isn’t particularly creative himself. 

So of the two of them, I think Mickey is actually much more likely to observe the details and to have opinions about them. That’s still a long way away from having a meltdown about gold chiavari chairs with white cushions. I do realize this. And I remember how that scene came out as a sneak peek the week before and I was... concerned. But when I saw it in context, I honestly liked it. Not so much the scene itself, but the story of that episode. It’s pretty much the only ep that season where Mickey’s concerns are foregrounded over Ian’s and, though (as always) I would have liked MORE of it, I like that we got this one episode about what the wedding mean to Mickey. 

So here are the top reasons why I like and buy this story. 

1. Right off the top, I don’t think Mickey objecting to being given a list of beers indicates he’s not going to care about what chairs are at his wedding. Putting aside that he’s lived an additional five or so years since then, Mickey doesn’t get annoyed in that scene because he thinks it’s dumb to know a lot about beer -- He’s annoyed that Ryan has asked him a question he can’t answer. I’ve always thought of that as a class issue -- He has never been in much of a position to CARE about what he drinks, and he drinks mass-produced pilsners because that’s what everyone in Southside drinks, because it’s cheap. He might love a winter wheat. He has no goddamn idea, because he isn’t living a life where you get to concern yourself with whether or not you’re into IPAs or lagers. Mickey DOES like beer. I was surprised and delighted when he recently ordered a stout at The Alibi, because it does indicate that his life has changed enough that he gets to know a bit more about beer. That at some point, he had the time and inclination to alter his tastes. He might have a different answer for Ryan now.

2. That Mickey wants things. Just... I don’t know. Mickey wanting anything other than food, shelter and Ian gets me so much. Mickey attending to his hierarchy of needs legitimately makes me teary. For people who grow up like Mickey -- asking for things can be a very big deal. So the fact that he just decides he’s going to make a wedding happen -- and a wedding with nice flowers and chairs that will reflect the light (because, we find out, that’s why he wants the gold) and a singer who will perform Livin’ on a Prayer -- is a big deal. And as many have cited before me, it makes sense that Mickey wants a better wedding with Ian than the one he had with Svetlana. But what we also find out, when we get the moment with the vows, is that Mickey takes the whole thing very seriously. He delivers those vows with complete commitment and deep sincerity. So I understand why he wants that space to carry the weight of what is happening. 

3. Mickey doesn’t break the chair because it’s not gold. He breaks the chair because every single person he’s encountered that day is a fucking dick. And they’re being a dick about his wedding. Something he’s happy about, and something he wants to celebrate. And, honestly, he’s not asking for much. He’d be annoyed, but most likely not violent, if his father hadn’t aimed a gun his face and some random old lady hadn’t refused him as a client because he’s gay. Brooks -- who tries to gaslight and act like the chairs are the chairs that were asked for when he knows damn well they are not -- is taking the wrath for a number of other people. But to me, the most important line in that scene is “why does everything always have to suck?”

4. Another thing about this is... back when Mickey responds to Ryan’s multiple choice beer question with “how ‘bout beer?” Ryan covers the awkward moment by making a joke about his own sexuality. The implication being that relating to beer with the kind of detail traditionally reserved for wine, is not masculine. And the thing is, Ryan is making a joke at his own expense, but he’s also acknowledging something that has always been true for Mickey. That Mickey has to make sure he never, ever displays any of these qualities Ryan so casually exhibits. Whether it’s natural for him or not, Mickey has to avoid anything that can be read to be a stereotype. He has to be hyper masculine, both because he’s from House that Toxic Masculinity built, but also because HE knows, even when he won’t acknowledge it, that he’s gay. So when we see Mickey openly talking about what flowers and chairs he wants at the wedding, he’s letting out something that could very well have always been there, but that he never, ever would have expressed back in seasons 1 through 4. Mickey doesn’t kiss Ian for two whole seasons because he’s so messed up about his sexuality. I 100% buy that, at that same time, he isn’t acknowledging having opinions about home decor. 

5. I like it when Mickey defies our expectations. I’m find with him discovering or revealing new facets or abilities or interests -- what I don’t like is when they have him do something that seems more like a regression. The show lampshades that this is something of a surprise, for Mickey to want a wedding, by having Ian be absolutely baffled by it for most of the episode. But they also participate in the end. There’s an indication that Mickey and Ian plan the eventual wedding together, though I imagine Mickey’s stronger opinions took the day in most cases. And the gesture at the end of that episode -- a romantic gesture just as surprising from Ian as anything Mickey does in that episode, really -- validates Mickey in a way I think is pretty beautiful. Like... he gets to be a guy who wants someone to sing Livin’ on a Prayer to him while he holds his boyfriend’s fiancé’s hand. He wasn't allowed to be that guy for years. I like that he gets there. 

So. We might not agree on this, but I really like that you drew a parallel between that scene and the party scene at Ryan’s because I hadn’t though of that before and I think it’s a very interesting one. I also enjoyed thinking so much about this on the day that we mark their one year anniversary! Because holy fuck. Gallavich is married!

I'm still in awe that Nefarian won that battle tournament thing they played on the SP reddit. Imagine a group of people lackadaisical enough to read this garbage coming to the right conclusion out of nowhere

UGH yeah! That was so frustrating! I mean, I’m happy that Nef got some positive attention for a change, but the write-up of the battles were so unimaginative!

It always was: he wins bc red hand OP. If you’re clever enough you can beat him despite his red hand. It’s powerful, but it still has restrictions in place. Like there can be no barrier between the hand and his victim. Dive behind a wall and the pain cuts off. The red beams seem to be insta-kills, but you can dodge them and stuff like that.

What makes him far more dangerous is how intelligent, unpredictable and versatile he is! I don’t remember that well anymore, but there is an excellent chance I probably compiled this list of Nef’s canon magic bc this pissed me off so much.

For the White Clever VS Nef fight I wrote out all the things he could do to win even if his red hand doesn’t work. What do they do? “haha red hand goes brrr”

Like, why do this tournament/write-up in the first place if you’re going to be lazy about it?

Also, this is probably where this BS opinion comes from, that Nef has to be nerfed bc his hand makes him to OP. Bc they completely overestimate how powerful it is and underestimate pretty much everything else that makes Nef dangerous. Also, looking at all the OP characters SP has, what makes them think Nef is the one that has to be nerfed when fucks like Skulduggery, Valkyrie/Darquesse and Abyssinia are walking around??

I think it bothers you bc absolutely everyone always drew Mev dark haired (even before I started drawing him, since I used the others art as reference along with the ‘fake-canon’ pic that used to be posted on the wiki (it was a saturated version of this pic btw) that shows up a lot when you google ‘Mevolent’).

That’s not  chivalrous, that’s just really fucking weird tbh. I hate how Landy writes phase 2 Mevolent and I especially hated the entire part in Tahil Na Kurge with Val going full on Mary-Sue. 

Mev did have a few good scenes like how he easily he was fighting the assassins even without his magic and how it confirmed my headcanon about him being an agile fighter instead of a tank, since him wearing leather armour instead of metal had already been implying that. But with Mev it always feels a lot like Landy doesn’t know what route to take with him, leading to a very weird and inconsistent characterization. Honestly? I like how the people in the fandom write Mev a lot more (this excludes those that write him as a r*pist btw).

Be better than Mev and destroy the brain/go sure your overpowered opponent is truly dead. 

Tbf Darquesse had maincharacter plot armour protecting her, otherwise Mev would have accidentally solved the Prime Dimensions main issue for them.

Tbf Mev was probably lying through his teeth about wanting peace, just like I’m pretty sure that Mev was lying in KotW when he said he wanted a Truce with the Resistance. One of the few good things to come out of SoW was that it showed what a tricky and cunning bastard Mev is.

He probably prefers to take those in his way out in ways that cannot be traced back to him and replace them with his own people. Or he just wanted the peace so he can more easily get what he needs to bring his Gods back and let them do the killing instead of having his men die. In book 1 Nef mentioned they want to return their Gods so they can ‘cleanse’ the world and rebuild it in their image or something like that.

(I answer on my Mev blog even slower than I answer here, so if you want a quick answer I wouldn’t recommend it.)

WHY DOES THIS FANDOM KEEP CIRCLING BACK TO THE MEV DICK DISCOURSE

I can’t believe it took Landy 14 years to come up with a reason why Nef and Skul hate each other and the reason pretty much just boils down to “they just don’t like each other and it got out of hand bc war”.

I’m extra pissed bc that was the exact question I asked him when I stood before him during the 2016 YALC for which my sorry ass flew to England and he couldn’t give me an answer back then. Instead he then told me that he was planning on releasing a secret on his blog each year on the release date of the last SP book and that that would be one of them. Well, that was a fucking lie.

Kakashi sat as Gai poured them tea, handing him a cup then settling back, still smiling. He looked well. Rosy-cheeked and positive, in the same unchanging way he’d always had.

“How are you Kakashi?” Gai asked brightly. “You’re looking good! Not going grey like some of us.” He grinned, pointing to the salt and pepper hair at his temples, and Kakashi was overcome by a unwelcome sense of irony.

He tried to put it out of mind.

“I suppose I’m lucky.”

“That you are, my youthful friend! So tell me, have you seen Minato recently? How’s he doing?”

Clasping his fingers around the cup, too tight, Kakashi sipped at the tea. Sencha green, his favourite. The answer came to him automatically, easily. “He’s well. He sends his regards of course.”

“Ah, it really has been too long. Do you still remember the time we all…”

On and on Gai talked, reminiscing about the good old days. Occasionally, Kakashi chipped in to offer agreement, or add details. In an odd way, he supposed both he and Gai were frozen in time.

The clocked ticked persistently on though and eventually, as their time together drew to a close, Gai wheeled himself over to a cage in the corner of the room, producing a small rice ball from a plate nearby. He handed it through the bars to the creature beyond – a slow loris – fluffy, large-eyed and docile. The animal watched him suspiciously for several seconds before grasping the ball with a tiny hand and taking a ponderous bite.  

An ecstatic grin blossomed across Gai’s face. He turned back to Kakashi. “Isn’t it amazing that Lee made it all the way through the war to come back home with us?”

Something ached in Kakashi’s chest – a ghostly echo of the heart he used to have perhaps, threatening to break all over again. Lucky then, that he’d divested himself of his humanity some time ago. It made it easier to smile, a thin, barely-there thing behind his mask, as he nodded in agreement.

“Yeah… it is.”

Hello and thank you so much for this ask @birkastan2018! I love that you’ve picked a super-juicy scene to look at. There’s a lot to unpick in what’s going on here.  I’ve copy-pasted the passage you sent because for reasons unknown to me, tumblr ate one of your asks. I will honestly never understand this site 🤦 But thanks to your numbering it was easy to find, so hopefully that’s okay!  I also don’t think I can do this segment of writing justice without referring to Chapter 3, where Kakashi visits Gai for a second time. For anyone who hasn’t read that yet, spoiler alert! You probably should before diving into this. 

So, basically this whole scene is an example of Kakashi being a sucker for pain. Visiting Gai hurts him, but out of the same kind of loyalty we see him demonstrating in canon - leaving flowers at Rin’s grave, or talking to Obito at the Konoha memorial stone - he keeps returning anyway, because Gai was/is his friend.  He spends most of his time lying through his teeth though, which becomes more apparent in Chapter 3 after we see him assure Gai for a second time that Minato is “well,” just before going to visit his grave. So he’s not being at all honest with Gai here, something that Gai demonstrates zero awareness of. He’s just happy Kakashi’s come to visit him.  The facts we know at this point are that they’re old war buddies, they both knew Minato, and at some point, something happened to put Gai in a wheelchair. They only ever talk about the past and Gai doesn’t see the irony in calling Kakashi’s looks “youthful,” or find it odd that he himself has aged while Kakashi hasn’t. Kakashi also answers Gai automatically, like this is all a familiar ritual to him. By this point, alarm bells should definitely be ringing!  I can’t give any answers without spoiling what’s yet to come, but I promise the explanation will eventually be forthcoming. A fun bit of safe trivia I can give is that Lee the slow loris was actually a gift from Kakashi to Gai, after the war.  The whole purpose of this scene (and the one in Chapter 3) is really to tell us a bit about who Kakashi is as a person. That he’s incredibly loyal and cares deeply for his friends and colleagues, even if he’s not always the most open with showing it. Also that he carries a lot of sadness from the events of the past, and seeing Gai actively brings all those feelings back to the surface, yet he still keeps on visiting anyway. It also lays the groundwork for what’s to come - because Gai’s story is irrevocably tied up with Kakashi’s, and Minato’s. And that shared history is going to come back into the story with a vengeance later on.  Hopefully that offers some insight into this scene? I feel like my answer was short on any promised awful puns lol, but I really enjoyed getting the chance to talk about such a pivotal part of the story. Thank you for giving me the opportunity! 🥰
