the progression of events in this arc is so so good and great and i love how you can just clearly see where and how each characters thoughts begin and progress throughout each chapter as it goes on. while steven was probably set in stone about his view on how to handle the situation i earnestly believe zed and zapp set out to disobey steven's request. and then they make it very easy to understand leo's point of view and why hes doing what he is - its why they show us that flashback and don't tell anyone else, and why he speaks very little after zapp threatens him - and then immediately cuts to klaus, who knows absolutely nothing about the situation currently but he can figure it out just by looking at whats in front of him. and because klaus is so unflinching when it comes to upholding what he believes is morally right he does so without anyone needing to tell him whats going on. he sees this percieved 'monster' protecting someone else and immediately goes to protect it, too. and even though a lot of them disagreed with each other at the beginning there is still the scene afterwards where they all come together to try and catch each other when they begin falling. i think nightow should pay me for what its done to my mental health

This is them slowly advancing further into more skin ond skin intimacy. I don't see them fully having sex yet. Ry wants Thyjs to feel good so they practice having more body contact each time it gets a little wilder between them and Ryder will only do so when Thyjs takes the initiative first or tells him he wants to venture furter. Bless that man's patience, brudi!

That's why Thyjs' epression in the last pic looks a bit different. In this angle it seems to me he's a bit overwhlemed by Ry so close between his legs. I can imagine if I write a scene like this that Thyjs will definitely say 'stop' when it gets too much for him. I just like the idea that one of my blorbos needs more time to find into it. But the hurdle for Thyjs will not last too long as he learns and adapts very fast.

And about the bite me shock me: this seriously will turn into a thing of theirs. Thyjs discovers he loves to get nibbled (softly) by Ryder and Ry lovezzz when Thyjs zapps him (at least once he's got an inductor installed so it turns incoming electricity into stamina instead of taking serious damage, yup).

I think I mentioned it once: since I gave Thyjs the Atlas body frame there is a gap between his belly and the plate cyberware when looked at him from the side. Glad I was able to fix it as this was a major doubt of mine as I do not wish to go back to vanilla body for him. Atlas makes im more slim than Ryder. I like Thyjs to be that way.

fuuuuck man, i can't stop thinking about amy's character development.

like amy's always been smart, albeit ditzy, but she operates largely on rebelling against what her parents want from her. she does not want to be a living uterus to make heirs and money for her shitty folks. she parties and sleeps around and generally still acts like a sorority girl because she values freedom.

and it's funny bc her parents introduce her to kif, but kif is a new way to keep amy grounded. kif isn't a one night stand, he tries to call her back and wants to get to know her. he wants to impress her family, and neither of them care that it doesn't work because he was brave enough to try. in fact, they can probably both bond over feeling like they're unfairly tethered to people who don't see them as individuals. he loves her and wants to commit to her, and she's flattered and realizes she loves him right back beyond just dating.

and amy is... not good with emotional literacy. she says things to insult people on accident a lot, and she doesn't usually seem willing to get very personal with the crew. and when kif dies in BWABB, her mom literally tells her to get over it mere days later, and then she copes by sleeping with zapp seemingly just to bring kif back in some way. so i think this is something else she internalized from her upbringing.

so i think when kif gets pregnant, obviously she's not ready to adjust to a life of responsibility, especially given how being a mother has been held over her head as basically a command for most of her life. but she wants to be with kif, and she's willing to adapt for him. and then she gets 20 years to prepare, and given this episode, i believe she spent those 20 years talking this over with kif, working out their relationship, learning to get her mind in order and eventually be a responsible parent. they had some real hurdles (and bad writing) but i think eventually, she felt ready to commit, especially after she earned her phd. she's financially secure enough to do pretty much whatever she wants after all, and having a family with kif is what she wants next in life.

i think this all made the "biological mother" thing so much harder for her. because leela has her own traumas, but it seems like she's naturally maternal, whereas i feel like amy had to really work for it. and she's worried that simply being exhausted is enough to make her a bad mom, and takes that out on leela, even though leela is also exhausted and far from perfect. i feel like in amy's eyes, leela has always been very capable and mature, even if they don't always get along, and i can see her worrying that the kids would innately bond with leela and amy wouldn't be enough. and given she outright acknowledges how terrible her parents are in this episode, and they reject the babies for being visibly mutant-alien, i can see her worrying she's repeating the cycle, and even though she's loving them as much as she can, she's only ever known parents who were harsh and critical, and being so openly loving is something she had to learn. (leela had to learn this too, but amy is too self-critical to realize that.)

so when amy says she loves those kids "more than [she] realized [she] could ever love anything"... i really believe that. i don't think amy knew how capable she was of expressing true love. i don't think she realized that she could commit to someone and not just fulfill her parents' degrading wishes for her. this isn't about her parents, this is about her and kif and the future they made with their love.

and by god, she's gonna be a good mother, and it'll be hard, but in the end, she's doing it because it feels good.

- When she moved to Big City to get away from her dad, she wanted to start up her own repair shop, but she got stuck in a rut and ended up struggling to pay bills — this is how she met Skids and the Stingers

- Bill was in Big City for FarmCon when Nancy reconnected with him, and after hanging out together a few times, he convinced her to come back to Smalton, which is why she left the Stingers and moved away

- Lesbian af, but she can appreciate a hard-working guy (that’s how she got tight enough with Bill to start a family, even though she always kind of knew it wasn’t quite where she wanted to be)

💛Skids (she/they):

- Her given name is Emma Shelhammer

- Grew up in the suburbs with an inattentive father, an abusive mother, and two little sisters

- Her mother forced them to dye their hair blonde to attend prep school, and Skids is the only AFAB person in the family with naturally pink hair (they got it from her grandma on her dad’s side)

- Skids shaved her head and ran away from home the second she turned 18, where they met Leadfoot in Big City and started the Stingers

- They vowed to come back and save her sisters, but she wanted them to have a better life than she did, so they sent them to live with one of her friends from prep school

- She and Dan are childhood friends, both from the same region of the Big City suburbs, and they were each other’s only comfort in school, since they were both misfits

- Their eye patch is the result of something her mother did (my more specific thoughts on this are too sad and I don’t want to speak them into reality 😭 poor Skids)

- Lesbian (a little in love with Nancy)

- Has dealt with depression most of her life

💟Leadfoot (she/her):

- Her given name is Mary Donovan

- She was born in one of the poorest parts of Big City, and by the time she was 12, she was unhoused and living on the street

- She learned to fend for herself pretty quickly, but the government came in and told all of the unhoused people in her area that they were no longer allowed to stay on the street

- That put her on the run, where she met Skids, and they found a place to stay in the old Splish factory

- She has a great sense of humor, and she loves befriending the stray animals she finds (rats, cats, injured pigeons, etc — very Tilly-esque in that sense)

- She bounces between jobs as a cook in chain restaurants, and she brings the Stingers whatever food and money she can spare from the day

- Bisexual and genderqueer

💚Lord Chrome (he/they):

- His given name is Barry Friedman

- He’s like the dad of the Stingers

- Their father was an alcoholic and abusive toward him and his mom, so he makes it his mission to save kids in abusive households

- With their experience combined with Skids’, the Stingers are a very vindictive group against adults who have wronged children in any sense, and the gang seeks justice in their own way as vigilantes

- They enjoy carving art pieces out of metal, especially using the bottle caps in the Splish factory

- Bisexual with a preference for men, but he and Leadfoot dated for a little bit

💙Dan (he/him):

- As mentioned, he grew up in the suburbs with Skids

- He joined the Army when he was 18, and after serving for 6 years after West Point, he was honorably discharged following a traumatic experience at war that resulted in the scar on his cheek

- He moved to Big City and reconnected with Skids, and he joined the Stingers after that since he was struggling with income and his mental health after the military

- He’s one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, but if you make him mad, he will show no mercy

- Gay and nonbinary (uses he/him)

- Very into punk music

- Works at a Wholesome Foods, and he smuggles food out of their inventory like Leadfoot

- Again, because he and Leadfoot have similar experiences being wronged by the government, they both have a vendetta against unjust legislation and greed, which is another major motivation that the Stingers combat

- Deals with PTSD because of his military service, and the rest of the Stingers do their best to help him in times of need

💗Rashida Remington (she/her):

- Born into a wealthy family, and she does her best to use her wealth for good causes

- Breast cancer survivor

- She met Russell at Big City University, where she was going into pre-law and he was going into marketing (with a football scholarship)

- She loves history, especially learning about East Asian dynasties

- Straight, but a vocal ally

You looked at yourself in the mirror, analyzing whether your current clothes suited you and the context of a date. Some of your clothes were your favorite color, and the style suited you... And at the same time, you feel that Edgar would love to see you like this.

"Darling?~" The computer voice came out through the main room. You let out a small giggle, and with a little shyness, you slowly opened the door of your room that led to the living room, opening a small crack.

The room was dark, the only lighting being candles on a table with red cloth with two chairs. In the chair on the other side, there was Edgar, the only detail different from him being two boxes under him, to make him right in front of you. Not to mention the little tie taped to him.

You smiled, and opened the door all the way and stepped your foot into the room.

"Oh my– Edgar this is wonderful! Did you do all this? How?" You approached the table, noticing two plates on the table that had nothing less than a bowl of microwaved Mac 'n' cheese on them.

"Magicians don't tell their secrets, right?" Edgar smirked.

You sat in the chair, and pushed the chair further into the table. You watched the whole scene in front of you, and everything left you almost breathless, it's been a long time since you went on a date, and you're pretty sure this is one of your best.

"Sooo? What do you think, huh? I couldn't find much in your closet but I at least did something!" The computer cheered

Then you chuckled, "It's perfect Edgar, I loved it! I wouldn't mind cooking something with you of course, but I still think it's cute how you tried to make something for both of us..."

Edgar shyly giggled, sounding flurstered "Thank you..." Later on, Edgar simulated a sound that would sound like someone clearing their throat "B-But anyway, go on, eat it!"

You laughed at your partner's joke, finally finishing your feed.

"Oh my god-" You were interrupted by your own laughter "Screw you!" You smiled, placing both your arms on the table.

"Aww, come on, but you love me!"

"Heh, yeah, but you're so goofy sometimes"

"Well... If goofy means love you forever and ever, then..."

And once again, Edgar managed to get another laugh out of you that he found so, so charming, our computer pal's circuits melt just listening to it.

"Silly..." You smiled forever, and rested your head on your arms on the table, closing your eyes for a mere second.

A brief moment of silence, you opened your eyes, only to find Edgar's screen, your cheeks heated up, and butterflies tickled your belly.

But unexpectedly, coming from Edgar's voice box, a melody began to echo across the room, making your attention increase.

You lifted your head and shoulders trying to recognize the song, only to realize it was a song both you and Edgar knew, "Computer Love" by Zapp

Your cheeks flushed "Hey!"

"Ahem, may I have a dance with you, darling~?" Edgar echoed, winch was enough to make your face red.

A moment of silence for you to analyze Edgar's request was left in the air. You lightly tucked a lock of hair behind your ear, slowly getting up from your chair, approaching your boyfriend. You analyzed the chair he was in, noting that it had wheels, which was perfect for your idea.

You grabbed the handles on the chair, and pulled the chair towards you, making Edgar look at you. He was still a little smaller than you, but with those boxes down, it's already a big step forward.

You and Edgar walked away from the table, into a more spacious area of ​​the room. You gently, yet firmly positioned one of her arms around Edgar's pretend body with the other still on the arm of the chair, so that in the end you rest your head on top of Edgar's monitor, starting the slow dance.

It was perfect, it was shy, delicate, and best of all, it was romantic, especially with the candlelight in the area and the music playing.
