golden kamuy is so weird because its one of my favorite manga but whenever i try to talk to people about it all that comes out is 'unhinged pathetic men', 'the art is a little wonky' and 'the anime has low budget bad cgi' but i wanted to take an opportunity to collect my thoughts and put them into words so this will be a very self-indulgent rant.

*warning: spoilers ahead*

i feel like, outside of japan, no one really talks about gk. i currently go to school in japan, and ever since moving here i was really surprised at how popular gk is. obviously there's the live-action movie coming out in less than two weeks but there are gk pop up stores, collab events, and i've even found gk merch in bic camera (generic electronic store that just has a bunch of miscellaneous stuff) but i think the reason for that is that its hark to really understand gk without some historical and cultural background. its about war and brutality and minority culture erasure and materialism and ptsd and abandonment trauma and manipulation and coming to terms with your own identity. it's historical, but its relevant. sure, it's filled with dick jokes and toilet humor and noda-sensei taking any excuse to draw naked men, but man, it gets dark, it gets deep, and it hits hard when it wants to. but that's not to say that the humor takes away from it. it's not a lighthearted manga/anime, but i think the humor ties into it perfectly and im still not quite sure how noda-sensei does it.

and the symbolism!!! gk sure does love symbolism and i am here for it all the way. understanding where the title comes from gave me chills. theres sugimoto and the dried persimmons as a representation of himself and his life before he went to war, and there is also so much symbolism surrounding ogata (especially with the eyes; as someone whose sense of identity and self-worth hinges pretty much entirely on his ability to shoot a gun, having him kill himself by shooting out his remaining eye was *a choice*)

i also think that asirpa is one of the best female characters in anime. she's not a naive little girl, as much as some of the other characters might treat her like one. she's someone who was forced to grow up too fast, who sees her purpose and knows she can't run from it. she carries the biggest burden out of everyone. and i love her friendship with sugimoto they are the most codependent besties and i love them to death.

not to mention the amount of research that clearly went into everything goddamn.

anyway it makes me sad that outside of japan, it's not that well known, when i think its a very well thought out and impactful story

Bill Leyden is so underrated! I love that little man who just don't know how to quit. My HC for him: Leyden loves melodrama, after he gets a tv, he would be an avid watcher of soap opera.

g. masters of the air and generation kill both seem to have more discourse surrounding them than the other two. which did you enjoy more, and why?

oh this is a hard question. Because I enjoy the writing of GK a lot, it's so fantastically written but i'm not very fannish about it (i do ship BradRay and read their fics, but overall probably not that fannish). On the other hand, MOTA frustrates me with a lot of its writing decisions (enough for me to write meta analyses for it), but I definitely I'm more fannish about that show.

In conclusion: MOTA wins 'being entertaining'. GK wins 'satisfying writing'. Which make them both enjoyable lmao

I actually already caught up to Dandadan but I was reading it partially at work so I wasn’t really paying all that much attention. It’s even better the second time around now that I’m actuallly looking at it. It gives me that same “literally anything could fucking happen feeling” that gk has but in more of a jojo part 4 vibe instead of part 7. like it’s so weird and creative and out there. Also I love momo she’s such a good protagonist. I have to say the cursed house arc is still my favorite bc evil eye has the sauce and the kito grandma just entertains me so much but I did like the danmara arc for the ending. I am not immune to delinquent teenager and cop paternal figure bonding. plus Zumas whole backstory with his little brother and mom. I’ll never move past it. His little brother was so fucking cute and positive just a little sweetie pie no wonder the mom gave up after he died. Like yes she does have a whole ass other son but I get it. The whole family was so damn tragic

the space invaders arc I need to reread bc I genuinely think I paid attention the least there. But I remember it was good and vamolas backstory made me cry. Also I love the relationship between momo and vamola it’s sooo fucking sweet 💔💔 tbh I like all the girls. I like how the mangaka seems to have a lot of respect for elderly women it’s very cute how many major supporting characters are badass grandmas

heya dess!

about ten million years ago i sent you an elaborate ramble about galacta knight's moral status. this isn't calling you out for not answering (i literally sent you a wall of text) and my opinions have since changed anyway, but i remembered this recently and got morbidly curious about your own take on gk's moral status. dw though... if you don't want to answer this one either, that's ok!

I pride myself on liking every Kirby character. That said, I never loved Galacta Knight. Curse of the over-hyped character? He was too cool. Too beloved. "When's Galacta going to become canon??"

And, just to be petty/salty for a moment, that he had no concrete persona except "See something; kill it" but has been frequently (?) made into the softiest, gentlest woobie amongst the cast next to Kirby (also his existence influenced a lot about Kirby's portrayal in the fandom, ie: "When's he gonna get HIS wings???", and he and Meta together became the template for what everyone's Knight-sonas would look like, meaning that being a cool orb in armor became more commonplace than rare) just caused me to get bored with him real quick, I think? </SALT>

COUGH!

...But I did some looking back at Galacta for this ask and... I can see the charm! I still don't see the "wooby" part (Which I assume has something to do with the "wrongly framed" theory) but I'm growing to respect Galacta as a character of interest. With that out of the way, let's tackle some of the things you brought up in your old ask as well as my own feelings on where the Aeon Hero sits as "a hero!"

It's all very interesting, isn't it? One thing that stood out to me, doing some research on this matter for this ask is that Hyness's speech implies (at least, it implied to me) that one of Galacta's other great deeds alongside helping seal Void was defeating Nightmare.

("Nightmare of a Galactic Crisis" just seems too potently worded for me to believe otherwise. The Japanese even matches up.)

But if Galacta defeated Nightmare... what the HELL was Parallel Nightmare thinking by summoning him to fight on his behalf?! (Ignore the fact that Galacta immediately destroys him. The key is that Nightmare either thought he could control the Aeon Hero or that the Aeon hero would share his goals. Which is FASCINATING~!)

I can't help but think that Galacta's story has some serious twists...

There's another thing, that may be referring back to the "destroy a planet or two" thing and that's Galacta's sealing. He's sealed in crystal and of course some people have made the connection between Galacta's crystal cage and the fairies of Ripple Star. (Usually with the queen of the fairies having a MUCH bigger role than anticipated.)

But like, there's a thing I just realized was in his Planet Robobot flavor text that isn't in the English version. (I know it's a matter of the pause screen text not having enough room for the twice-as-long English but why's it always gotta be Planet Robobot XD )

"Records remain of his being sealed in many different eras."

One could argue that it's all the same sealing but why would multiple different eras need to record the same guy getting sealed if he were only sealed away ONCE. So, that's interesting. Galacta's seal was never permanent.(1) In fact, it seems to be frequently un-permanent. So they have room to cause villainous havoc between freeings.

(For a borb who looks like an angel, he's doing a really good job acting like your classic "Sealed for 100 years but never destroyed 'Demon King.'" I guess that's what makes him and Meta Knight such interesting compliments. The noble devil and the demonic angel? Well, we still haven't decided if Galacta's demonic yet.)

And speaking of the strength of Galacta's seal, I found a weird little detail looking up his fight in RtDL DX. (I had to watch a recording because I spent my whole fight with him screaming in terror and spamming guard because I had exactly one HP left and didn't want to die before reaching Magolor Soul. Thank you, Sand ability!)

In RtDL, the Crystal descends and Galacta slowly opens one eye and then the other. But this changed for DX! Galacta descends with both eyes open. Which shouts consciousness to me.

...I'm rambling away from the topic of whether Galacta is a hero or not. Don't mind me. I'll try to pivot back in good time.

Actually, let's pivot back a little now, because in USDX, he's not summoned from his crystal state, he's just summoned. Which makes sense because like... going entirely by the cutscene, it looks like Galactic Nova actually transports Galacta through time to fight Meta Knight. Like, Galacta in the middle of their villain phase!

We do see Galacta sealed in crystal immediately after this image is shown, but the Nova doesn't bring the sealed Galacta before Meta Knight. Star Dream does. I wonder if that's a difference in power between the two clockwork stars? But I think this "where Galacta was snatched from" is probably the real reason Gala utterly demolishes Star Dream but doesn't attack Galactic Nova. The Gala that Star Dream summons has already been sealed/betrayed/etc.

They don't trust anyone. The Gala that Nova summons is at the height of their "feared across the galaxy" phase but has not yet been captured or has reason to fear capture/re-capture.

...And then you have the Galacta that Morpho Knight absorbs. What's funny about that Gala, and kind of tragic, is that Gala seems to be the calmest of the three. I say this because they actually pause when Morpho comes near. They even look...cutely (!) confused.

So, did Hyness summon a Galacta that was even earlier in his timeline than the one Nova summoned? Which was earlier in his timeline than the one Star Dream summoned?

Although where in Gala's timeline is RtDL?? Galacta appears before us in crystal, is then released, and actually FLIES OFF after defeat without being resealed. Is this the Galacta that "destroys a planet or two?" The opening of the RtDL rift after the crystal prison reforms suggests that it was the Planet Robobot Galacta that would go on to appear in RtDL, who then flies off and... maybe it's that Galacta that appears in Star Allies, to meet his end at Morpho's hands...

By the way, I totally forgot that Morpho does the "friend heart"/"friend move" thing to Galacta before absorbing him! (Dess is beginning to think that maybe the reason I didn't have strong feelings for Galacta Knight is because I just never stopped to pay attention to all the little things that make them interesting!)

So Gala has an interesting timeline and we can see that their level of aggression really depends on where in the timeline you find them. I don't think they were a planet destroying monster when they were first sealed. At least, their most "murderous" incarnation (Robobot) is implied to have gone through some ~stuff~ even AFTER the sealing.

But the fact that (Parallel) Nightmare considers them a potential ally suggests that they were...hmm, "problematic" to certain people toward the tail end of their "Aeon Hero" phase. Those people probably being the Ancients.

La la la~ I smell a cover-up~ la la la~

And so, we're back to the "Galacta was framed?!" theory. To be honest, I don't know what was up with the image Galactic Nova shows us above of Gala in the smoking wreckage but it's important to note that we don't see WHAT it is that Galacta has destroyed.

And while the Magolor epilogue implies Halcandra was destroyed in a great meteoric firestorm of some kind, I would just like to note that Halcandra at that point would have also been potentially ruled (?) by a monarch who quite possibly wore The Master Crown. An object that has been as much as stated to have been poisoning/poisoned by the previous bearers so, yeah. I don't think Halcandra would have been in a good place, if a crown-bearer sat on the throne.

(And wouldn't killing a king and destroying their country/planet be considered something worthy of taking Galacta's title of "hero" away from them and labelling them a galactic level threat?)

So, yes. I think Galacta's "moral" status depends on where in the timeline you are. I don't think they were ever "evil" but I think they probably a dangerous sort of "good-hearted extremist" era in the past and in their later years, that devolved into an aggressive and paranoid "As far as I'm concerned EVERYONE is an enemy and you'd better believe I'm not letting them strike the first blow!"

There's some Gala thoughts to chew on!

(1) Honestly, I wonder if the crystal thing is less of a "seal" and more of a curse? :Dess's mind hears "fairy curse" and starts vibrating: It could be something that affects them intermittently? We've seen Galacta be "destroyed" in USDX (amusingly, their wings "pop" off. Although that is the only time that happens so could be retconned) Anyway, it's not their destruction that causes the seal. Sometimes they just fly off after defeat too! (To destroy more planets??)

This implies there's another trigger for when they become crystal...

But speaking of the "crystal," RtDL DX in Japanese specifically mentions that their seal is actually made of "gem" - the same "gem" used in "Gem Apples." Which going by the Magolor Epilogue, gem apples appear to represent either a) magic power b) the soul or c) the Master Crown. I don't think it's made clear which exactly, because all three are kind of muddled together in Magolor's case. But the fact that there ARE those connections with "gems" + Galacta's "gem" seal activating intermittently is all just VERY interesting to me.

Now go and speculate away, my pretties~!

Author's note: I find it a massive offence that no one has written any fan fiction about this man. He is the finest GK in the PL and deserves some love. Also he is my new obsession even though I only like Kostas Tsimikas from Liverpool (greek scouser core). Shoutout to @joochilwell for being so kind and sharing Alison with me, I love you girl. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy!

Summary: You are friends with Kostas and after Liverpool's insane win against Manchester City, the team goes to the club to celebrate the win. Alisson has set his eyes on you and is about to mess things up just for a night with you.

Warnings: minors dni, 18+, angst, jealousy, bit of soft Alisson, bad Portuguese translation (sorry to anyone who may be offended, my native is Greek and English)

"I swear to god I will not be caring you back to your house, Robbo is caring you. I have work tomorrow." I warn Kostas with a sneaky smile, knowing he will end up drunk, singing out loud, with Klopp calling me in the morning asking me his whereabouts.

"Oh please, I will be just fine. Also don't count too much on Robertson. Mo maybe a better option." Kostas pointed out, erasing another potential helper of mine.

"Mo won't be coming. Said he was tired. I will find someone to help me take care of you. I don't worry about that." I was looking through my contacts trying to find the perfect teammate. It was at this moment that he appeared in front of me.

"Mate, you will be perfect for the job." Kostas shouts in my ear, as I raise my head and look at Alison's blue stunning eyes that were instantly locked with mine. I share a soft smile with Alisson, before he looks back at Kostas with a weirded out expression.

"What job? What did you do?" He is almost growling at his greek teammate before I save his ass once more.

"I may be in need of a helping hand in case Kostas gets badly drunk. Last time I almost broke my arm trying to carry him back to his house." Alisson's eyes land back on mine and worry with what I was faced the last time alcohol was involved.

“Don ruin her night mate. Let’s all enjoy this win. But sure, I will help you in case anything happens.” He replies to my request and i instantly relaxed at the thought of Alisson being the one that would help me.

“I owe you! Thank you so much! See you at the club in a few hours” I waved goodbye to Alison and made my way with Kostas to my car so I could drive him back to his house. Alisson didn’t seem like himself so much. He seemed tired but now because of the game. More mentally exhausted.

As Kostas is about to get off my car, he unbuckles his seatbelt and turns towards me to face me. He has a guilty look in his eyes and I instantly can tell he is hiding something.

"Spit it out, right now. What is it?" I would rather know what he is about to do, instead of be surprised at night.

"Would it kill you to dance with Alisson today? Can you keep him company? I promise I won't get drunk." He didn't want to confess this in the first place but he was so pressed on telling me so.

Why would he ask me to keep Alisosn company? We are friends and of course I would be with him at the club tonight. Why does that mean?

"Is there a hidden meaning behind all this Tsimi? Cause if there is, I have to know. There's a reason why you're confessing this to me." Is Alisosn okay? Has someone done something to him. Should I call him and tell him to come over. This sounds serious.

"He will tell you for himself. I can't ruin the magic. See you tonight." Okay, what was this all about?

I finally arrive at my house and instantly throw myself on the couch, surrounded by the paperwork that needs to be done and multiple programs for the teams next games.

I can't get out of my head what Kostas said to me. He sounded so sketchy and mysterious. Should I be worried about Alisson? I couldn't resist and I decided to text him.

"Kostas was acting a little bit weird and told me to keep you company tonight at the club. Is something wrong?"

I shut my phone and kept on organising my scattered papers, wanting to get things in order but at the same time I couldn't get Alisson out of my head. I had to talk to him.

The notification sound from my phone startled me when it echoed from my room. I rushed to pick it up and my eyes widened when I saw that it was a reply from Alisson.

"I actually wanted to kind of talk to you privately. But I can't say what I want from the phone."

So my gut about something being off was right.

"Want to come by my house? It will be better than a coffee shop." I suggest wanting to make him feel more comfortable. I know that if he is seen with any girl that isn't known to the public eye will cause many talking points and that is certainly not something he wants right now.

"If you are okay with it then no problem. I will be there soon." All the players knew where I lived so if anything occurred with their schedules or wanted to resolve an issue, they could come to me.

In an extremely fast pace, I began cleaning the apartment so it didn't look like a paper bomb has erupted. I always like to keep the house clean but with guests around I wanted it to be spotless. I managed to finish tidying up before Alisson showed up. I threw on some more clean clothes after a quick shower and was waiting for him.

Speaking of the devil, the door bell rang a few moments after I was finally ready myself. I rushed to open the door and I was greeted by a shy smile from the Brazilian goalkeeper, along with a small bouquet of red roses that were peaking from behind his back.

"Come on in. You are just in time." I said in an extremely lower manner than the one I usually greet people. Before he could get past the door, he revealed the flowers and handed them to me, trying to hide his flushed cheeks from my eyesight. I had never seen Alisson so shy. He is for sure a gentleman and a wonderful man, although whenever I see him in practice, he is all tense and angry, cursing sometimes in Portuguese.

"These are for you. I asked Kostas what kind of flowers you like, in case you were allergic to any other type or weren't your favourite." He explain and my heart instantly goes soft. He is so thoughtful that I could have cried on the spot. I gave him a big hug after I closed the door behind him. I had to tip toe a little bit given he is a very tall man.

Alisson's arms wrapped around my waist were so firm, with a very familiar and yet so secure feeling. It was a very sweet gesture from him and for an unexpected reason, I didn't want him to let go of me.

"This is the sweetest thing ever. Thank you so much Alisson. I will put them in my bedroom so they will brighten the atmosphere. Don't be nervous, take it as your home! Would you like to drink anything?" I put the flowers in a vase and left it in the kitchen counter before moving them inside my room.

"No no, thank you. I just, really wanted to talk to you. I feel like if I don't say what I want, an opportunity will be gone and then I will regret it." Oh dear it sounds serious. For a moment I was scared that he wanted to talk to me about transferring and leaving Liverpool. We had grown close to each other and I would hate the feeling of him leaving the team after so many years.

"Oh okay. Well, I am all ears. Tell me what is going on because I am getting anxious." I replied and we both sat on my couch, Alisson was toying with his fingers, trying to find the words to say what he wants.

"So, um, for the last three years, ever since you joined the team, I have, uh, I have, well, oh" He is getting more and more nervous as he is getting to the point and I take his hands into mine, wanting to calm him down.

"Hey hey hey. It is okay. You can talk to me. Look at me Alisson, please. Don't be scared. I will not judge you."

"I well, I, gosto muito de ti" (I like you very much)

Okay well, that didn't go as planed. Unfortunately I couldn't understand Portuguese, so that made the matter even more complicated. I placed my hand on his cheek, caressing it calmly. Finally I got Alisson to look at me and his blue eyes revealed to me all that I needed to know.

"Are you saying what I think you are?"

"Yes. What I have been trying to say is and clearly not very successfully, is that I like you y/n. And a lot if I am being honest. It took me such a long time to admit it but I finally did so. I just wanted you to be aware and I will completely understand if you don't wanna-" I cut him off with a soft kiss on his cheek, that instantly gave him the courage to take me on his lap and allow me to continue.

"You are a one of a kind man Alisson. I am very happy you finally admitted your feelings to me, because with the way Kostas was trying to subtly tell me I was getting worried about you. At least now I know and I am over the moon." I wrapped once more my hands around his neck and gave him a very tight hug, whilst sliding my fingers in his curly black hair.

"I don't want to force you into anything. We can take things slow. You are very important to me." I finally got a glimpse of his beautifully bright smile and without any hesitation I smashed my lips onto his, trying to prove to him how much I would love to be with him.

His hands curled up on my waist whilst my legs were curled around his waist. His kisses were poured with passionate emotions and love. I could sense a smile underneath the kisses around my neck and the only thing that echoed in the house were my giggles.

"Tu farás de mim o homem mais feliz, se me deixares estar contigo." (You'll make me the happiest man if you let me be with you.)

"I may not understand what you are saying but, És o homem mais espantoso." (You are the most amazing man)

I said that in the most silly Portuguese accent, but Alisson seemed to appreciate the effort very much.

"I think I need to learn a bit of Portuguese if I want to be able to understand you."

"I will teach you everything you need to know my love. No need to worry."

Alisson was explaining to me how he fell in love when he first saw me, how difficult it was at first to adapt to the English lifestyle and especially the Merseyside and how he was intimidated by Liverpool's rich history thinking he wouldn't be able to live up to Klopp's and the owners expectations.

Getting to know him even better than I already did, made me realise how special he is. All of his teammates speak so highly of him, whether its mates from Liverpool or the Brazilian national team. The quiet and sweet goalkeeper who was too scared to talk to me, proved to be a very smart, friendly and openhearted but most importantly passionate footballer with many dreams and ambitions.

"Oh god, it's already seven. Virgil told us to be at the club at ten. I should probably get going so I can let you get ready. Should I come by again and pick you up? Would you like that?" The fact that he suggested we arrive to the club together made my heart beat so fast and how I could I ever resist to the sweet way he suggested it?

"Of course. I would love that. So, see you soon?" I placed my hands on his chest and I earned a small peck on the lips from him, given that if it was a full blown kiss, we would have ended up on the couch once more.

"See you soon amór" He gave me a final kiss before walking out of the door. At this moment I was the happiest woman in the entire Merseyside and I had no idea this was about to get even better.

I sped to my closet to pick up my outfit for the night. I panicked when I went through all the possible options and none of them seemed fitting enough for my liking. Plus, it wasn't even going to be an actual fancy night club. More like a local one that the team had booked and some fans could tag along.

I finally found hidden in the depth of my closet my white corset, which was not too revealing but at the same time it showed of my figure in the way I liked. I decided to pair it with a pair of black jeans that would match perfectly with my louboutins. I had a quick shower after finally finding what my outfit would be and then for the final step it was hair and makeup.

Simple but chic was tonights moto, so I was in favour of letting my beach curls loose and putting on some very light makeup. A hint of mascara, my favourite red lipstick and a puff of the best perfume I had. I took a a quick look at myself in the mirror when at the same moment the door bell rang for the second time today.

I opened the door in the most giddy and exciting way, being presented with a version of Alisson I wasn't really used to seeing. He was wearing a navy blue polo, matched with a pair of black trousers and sneakers like every footballer likes to wear at a night out. A few strands of hair were falling on his forehead which made his appearance even more attractive. Although, if I am being honest, nothing could top Alisson wearing the black Liverpool kit with the number 1 on the back.

"The most beautiful woman in all of Liverpool." He kept scanning me from head to toe with his mouth agape, flushed like never before and heavy breathing. I couldn't believe it that I would be escorted to the club by the team's main goalkeeper and the biggest sweetheart I had ever met.

"Says the most handsome goalkeeper in all the Premier League." I took my keys and phone before grasping onto his firm and strong bicep.

"Only the Prem? I would say the world if I were you." He winked playfully at me.

"Nah, there are a few keepers that are in close competition." I couldn't contain my laugh when I saw the offended expression on his face.

"I am willing to prove you otherwise." He whispered in my ear and his hot breath hit my neck, which sent shiver all over my spine. I kind of wished I got to see this side of Alisson as well, although I didn’t expect it this soon. Not that I minded though.

“Behave” I cupped his jaw and landed a kiss before he opened the door of the club and instantly be greeted by some of his teammates.

Trent, Kostas, Andy and Dominik all surrounded him but without leaving me behind. I was welcomed by them like a part of the actual squad.

“Gonna be the life of the party tonight?” Trent cheekily asks me, having been seen by him at some of my drunkest moments.

“Nah. I need to play nice and take care of you lot. Maybe another time.” There’s a frown that quickly wipes away his smile of excitement, knowing that he could have found a shots partner.

“I’ll tell you what. If you manage to score a hat trick against Crystal Palace, then I will buy you all the drink you will have at our next gathering.”

Andy almost chocked on his drink when he heard my dare.

“Fucking hat trick? Well, it is Palace but jesus christ. You are so in. Deal.” And we shook each other’s hands firmly.

Kostas and Andy left to go with Virgil and Alexis, whilst I was with Trent, Alisson and Dominik.

I had caught with the corner of my eye Dominik staring at me from time to time. I tend to catch me checking me out but I feel like the corset I am wearing is giving him what he wants so out of reflex I take Alisson’s hand into mine and squeeze it a bit.

He hasn’t understood what is going on, until Dominik opened his mouth.

“I’m so sorry, I had no idea he’d say such things.” I say in a very apologetic manner, as if I was the one hitting on Dominik.

“You don’t have to be sorry about anything my love. He was acting like an asshole and got what he deserved. Although I could’ve said more.” Knowing that Alisson had other ways to defend me as well, made me know that in any instance, he would have my back, like I would have his.

“If you don’t feel comfortable then we can head out. Go somewhere more privately where we won’t have to face anyone.” I sneakily suggested

“Actually yes. That would be great. I would love that.” Happy that he agrees with my plan, I go up to Kostas and alert him that both Alisson and I are leaving. Trent says that it’s also better we leave given that if Dominik continued to act like so, Alisson would have resorted to possible violence.

For the final time tonight, we got on Alisson's car, without knowing which destination to take. All that mattered was to leave the club and be somewhere without anyone disturbing us. Before I could suggest a place we could visit, Alisson immediately said:

"Want to go by my house?" I know he had good intentions and didn't suggest it in a sneaky way, despite how the night ended up evolving.

"Sure thing." I trusted him, I knew he wouldn't do anything to make me feel uncomfortable. And if I am being honest, I am thankful we decided to leave the bar.

The ride from the club until Alisson's house wasn't very long. Once he parked his car, we got off and opened me the door to his house like a gentleman. I was aware that footballers get paid very well money but that wasn't this much apparent with his house. It was very beautifully decorated and was very cozy, instead of a luxurious mansion.

He offered me a glass of wine as we sat opposite of each other on his couch. He seemed a little tense at first with what had happened with Dominik and it was understandable. I was as well, but we shouldn't let this feeling ruin our night.

"Can I ask you something?" He quietly asked me.

just finished band of brothers and i'm having many feelings.

first -- the entirety of the hbo war fandom somehow failed to mention that easy company liberated a concentration camp? yeah i get it the way nix looks at dick is earth-shattering but... liebgott having to translate? the bodies ? that episode was hard, and honestly kind of erased all the feelings i was feeling about bastogne. glad liebgott got his headhunt tho.

there is no reason for the way dick and nix look at each other except that they are in love.

web's eyelashes are the most beautiful thing i've ever seen. they should have been nicer to him, on account of his eyelashes.

i learned a lot about the european theater that i didn't know! especially towards the end.

the personal connections were still weird to me. i went to summer camp at toccoa, i have relatives who fought and died in italy, i did a big europe trip in high school that basically went backwards from the show, starting in austria and ending in england. i have a bottle of sand from omaha beach.

still about halfway thru the pacific and i have to say band of brothers ranks second after gen kill. it's a very different kind of show, but gk is still #1 for me.

In my AU Galacta Knight is Kirby's father. While I did consider making him Meta Knight's dad at one point that idea died the moment I decided to ship him with DMK. Galacta is not a father figure to Meta in my AU.

Meta Knight's biological father is Gatteka, the first Dark Matterborn and leader of the Demon Tribe, pictured below. I meant to show this way later, but oh well. I've mentioned this before, anyway.

Meta Knight's dad, as in the person who raised him, is Xandos, a halcandran who was responsible for the enchantments of the Master Crown. Old art below. He's the father figure!

Galacta Knight and Meta Knight are both time travellers, the former being around 50 and the latter around 40 in relative age physically around the time they battle and when DMK and GK get together.

Galacta has met baby Meta Knight rather briefly around the time the void incident occurred. Meta Knight has also met a young Galacta Knight before. Time travel shenanigans galore in this world. It does get confusing here and there.

To demonstrate how far the shenanigans goes, there is a plot point in which my OC Dutch attempts to summon Meta Knight centuries before he was born and accidentally summons his father instead.

ooh this is fun! this got long so....

hmmm. tough because i love them all for different reasons, but i think i'd be lying if i didn't say duela. every time she was on screen, i was delighted. and i think her character arc was really well done. she had a lot of layers to her that were peeled back over the course of the show and it was a pleasure to watch

i mean, his last scene blew me away! my dude killed it he did so awesome. wish we got to see more of two-face. but prior to that scene, i think the one where harvey/two-face are talking to each other. that was cool.

harper/stephanie for sure, but also cullen with pretty much everyone. he was really the heart and soul of the show, and he had really special relationships with like - turner and stephanie and of course harper (and that one cop lol i like how they teamed up at the end) that really gave something extra to the show and filled out the group's dynamic as a whole

they all had great character arcs, but i think in terms of development, harper and again duela. they stayed true to their characters throughout, but their motivations and priorities and values shifted and grew and changed. whereas, i think every other character pretty much stayed consisted with their morals from start to finish. harper and duela had a little more growth there. i feel the same for brody, but we didn't really get to see that process with him. we did a little bit, but i would have liked to spend more time with him as see that shape out

the "girl with two working kneecaps" line really sticks out to me lol

they had some good plot twists but i liked the reveal that duela was harvey's daughter. i'm pretty good as seeing plot twists coming, but i kinda wrote that one off. i think they'd originally billed her as duela dent but then changed it in the promos to the joker's daughter, so i thought they just went in a different direction with her character. so i didn't see that twist coming until like 2 seconds before it revealed! that was delightful. i gasped

i think two-face is hot and funny and i would have loved to have seen more of him! you know when you have a character you love that's like "he did nothing wrong, actually, apart from the crimes." no, he did lots of things wrong and i would like to see him do it again in detail. he'd look hot doing it. (also i have been talking about the prosthetics and how they made the suit burned instead of that weird comic book suit two-face has. it all looked disturbing instead of cartoonish and it was really, really awesome! they did a great job with that design!)

well, i answered this design question above lmaooo but i think it was a very visually interesting show. the costumes certainly, were incredible. there was a lot of attention to detail that tied in with the characters and story and foreshadowing. and kinda the blending of modern/past eras was a cool choice. it all came together really well. they put in hard work and it shows

i mentioned how i would have liked to have seen more brody and see his development. he was kinda on the outside of the group and then all of a sudden in the last couple eps, he was this important character to the group. i would have liked for that to have played out slower. also, him not being able to die. i imagine they would have gone into that a little next seasons, but i almost feel like they should have done that earlier and played it out this season. i get that means the rebecca being evil twist would have had to come in earlier too, since she killed him, but like... i wouldn't have minded if we knew she was evil sooner. like, the characters don't know but we do. kinda see her doing evil shit more. she was too damsel in distressy for a lot of the season and that kinda was like. ok. i'm not buying it, something's up with her. so getting that payoff a little earlier and seeing her still act up that damsel in distress when we KNOW she's not would have been satisfying.

the season 2 set up was GREAT and i'm foaming at the mouth pissed we won't get to see it. like, the gotham knights kicking ass, turner becoming this highly trained assassin or whatever, two-face maybe becoming the big bad of the season (also getting harvey back and harvey/duela father/daughter moments). the more i think about it, the angrier i get because it really is a good show. it really is fantastic and this is a show that probably belonged on max from the get go instead of the CW. i'll be honest, i didn't expect much going into it, but it knocked it out of the park. it's a shame the industry is a mess and the show is a victim of bad timing, because it really was special.

guys, it's been something like... 7 months... and Generation Kill is still occupying my thoughts, I did not foresee this.

BoB and TP held on for like... 3 months max, but it looks like GK is here to stay.

How. I only started watching it because I was like meh, might as well watch all three HBO war shows but I don't anticipate to... oh? what is this? Chemistry? Flawed individuals in a flawed system trying to do their best, fucking it up regardless? Fucked up humor that makes you think about perspectives and biases? Disguising caring for other people by insulting them? Humvee karaoke?

I love this show. I LOVE this delightfully talented and weird little fandom. I love every single one of you who are still creating any kind of content or just vibing. Let's see how much longer we can keep it going.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is really a film where the phrases "Chekhov's butt plug" and "even if nothing matters, just be kind" can coexist.

When I tell you that this movie was balls to the wall crazy, I mean that someone, very probably, put their actual balls to a wall in that movie. And yet it was the most profound exploration of finding joy in fleeting moments and love even through misunderstanding and mundanity.

And also, I sat above a mother and her young daughter in the theater and when Jobu Tupaki brandished the dildos to fight with, the daughter very loudly asked "Mom, what are those?"

Truly THE movie experience.

- you don’t like kitting all that much but absolutely WANT to go save your teammate just because of the points or you’re in need of your team’s victory

- you prefer to stay hidden and decode and will go save only if ABSOLUTELY NECCESSARY

GARDENER

- i like gardener

- it seems that she’s not the only sweet person but her mains too, they are super sweet

- you love helping your teammates by destroying chairs or distracting the hunter by using your protection bubble thingy (idk what it’s called, i just know it’s from leo)

- you must be a cottagecore baby, no doubt about that

- either that or you’re a softcore/kawaiicore baby

- THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN!!!!

- you are selfless except if all ciphers are popped and there are two people dead on your team

- he is a pretty serious person but, over here, i get the vibe that you are a goofball who can also be quite serious in some situations

- if you don’t have the christmas themed skin, go get it NOW (idk if it’s available, never really cared about his skins, sorry)

- sometimes you carry the team

- you have high expectations of yourself and sometimes your teammates but it’s you, for the most part

- you expect to get wins but consider ties decent

- you are trying a bit TOO hard to win those games, take a break please

- you are a serious, sweet and caring person who loves caring for their own but knows when they should put themselves before everyone else

- you are somewhere in between selfish and selfless

- you like playing mind games with the hunter just because
