Honestly I'm kind of underwhelmed by the finale. It was good, but I feel like it is very complete and there's no real cliffhanger left to continue on with another season. But I am liking what's happening with the caracters so far.

Star Wars

I believe SW fandom oppinion is always going from one extreme to another, the Jedi or Sith are either good or evil and Anakin was evil from birth, etc and the thing is that the story needs to be taken with more nuance to fully appreciate it imo.

For example:

I honestly don´t like the Jedi as an institution in the PT, I believe they were arrogant, thought themselves above non force sensitives, not in words but in actions, lest remember this Jedi Order didn´t tought much about using Jedi mindtricks to get their way or even just because a non- force sensitive annoyed them, they used control chips to make their clone soldiers more obedient, they just didn´t expect those chips to also have hidden orders to attack them with their guard down.

Sure they had good reasons always but actions speak louder than words and from this perspective, they were good with those actions because there is a certain feeling of superiority on their part, a feeling of " I have the power, I am in charge, I am doing this for the good of the galaxy and so I can do this" and they were too set in their ways, even their critical elements like Qui-Gon or Count Dooku, to truly question why they did this and if it´s even neccesary and their enemies noticed this, Sidious used those inherent flaws agaisn´t them to gain power by appearing to be a normal non force sensitive, their arrogance didn´t allow them to recognize him as a foe even with the growing political power he amassed for himself until it was far too late and they needed to know he was a sith for this to happen.

Still their whole institution seek to help the galaxy, their problem was that with time this became equal to "help the Senate keep its power" and later this same Senate betrayed them. 0rder 66 was a lawful order approved by the Senate.

Still the fact the Jedi had flaws doesn´t mean the Sith were right to kill them all or to impose a dictatorship over the galaxy.

The Sith in star wars canon always wanted to impose an Empire with slavery included, they treat their apprentice as slaves until they get to become a master and the cycle goes on and on.

The force itself had to bring the birth of Anakin to stop the Sith and their manipulation of the force, because they also tried to alter the whole nature of the force to become inmortal and rule forever.

The Jedi became famous in the galaxy after they managed to defeat the Sith Empire, ending slavery on many worlds, that´s part of their legend, that´s why Anakin and Shmi to a certain point, thought the Jedi were on Tatooine to free the slaves but even when they were told this wasn´t why they were on Tatooine they still wanted to help them to help Naboo. Anakin and Shmi believed in compassion as the answer to the problems in the galaxy.

What the PT presents to us is a story about a good institution trying to do some good in the galaxy but that had fatal flaws that were used by their enemies to destroy all of them because the goverment they served became a dictatorship on their watch.

The OT is about the common people, the non-force sensitives getting together and inspriring everyone to bring down this dictatorship helped by the descendants of the old Jedi Order and the honest leadership of the Old Republic, representend by Luke and Leia, Anakin´s and Padme´s children and this union is so strong that they not only manage to convert former imperial soldiers to their pov but also Darth Vader himself.

Anakin is the central caracter, a character who suffered under the previous status quo as a slave during Republic and Jedi Order rule, a person who was later used as a weapon by both the Jedi and the Sith, who thought the Empire was the answer to the problems in the galaxy in a big part because of the grooming Sidious did with him, allowed by the Jedi but he had his own dreams to help make a better galaxy and keep his loved ones safe and alive and happy and this also played into his fall to the darkside, because he went from believing love and compassion was the answer to power was the answer, as a result he lost everything(his family, his body, his sanity) and became a slave to Sidious, as a consequence of his actions agaisn´t the jedi.

Later, at the end of his life, seeing all over again Sidius killing the last one of his family in front of him, he choose to sacrifice himself instead of keep being the second most powerful of a galaxy, despite being a slave, a galaxy abused by the dominance of the Empire, to save what he found worth keeping alive in the galaxy, his Son and his compassion even for those like him who seemed lost forever to everyone else, because that ideal was worth keeping alive, it could heal the galaxy just as it healed him, he remembered he used to believe love and compassion could solve the galaxie´s problems as well.

Star Wars is a story that allows all the dimensions between good or bad to his characters, allowing them to grow or become worse because that´s fundamentally part of human nature and it´s a story that tells us that despite this everybody can become better if they choose to be, everybody can be saved if they want to and that´s a beautiful message.

So when we try to see the story into your are either fully good or fully bad of course we will never get the full picture, the story just wasn´t written that way.

Last Friday I watched on Netflix “Miraculous Ladybug”, The Movie.

I followed this show since the first concept art releases and the “2D PV trailer”, so yeah, I`ve been here for a while.

I watched the show and I loved it. Sadly I quit at the end of season 4 cause I was really dissapointed on how the story was developing and how the characters were changing for bad.

A few weeks ago I decided to finish the show cause I really wanted to “end this” one way or another.

MLB The Movie was everything I expected from the show since day 1. That magic in the narrative, that visual beauty of Paris at night, the moon, the stars and the romance between the main characters . . . everything looked perfect just as I imagined (I fucking cry all the time watching the movie)

I believe that this movie had a strong influence from the “2D PV Trailer” cause I found moments, scenes and caracter designs and personalities that were exactly like in the trailer (like “The Mime” which I love)

Honestly is amazing how the same director, Jeremy Zag, and all the creative team with a different influence and a different perspective can make a totally different thing, and that thing was this movie.

So, i loved

But not my favorite novel, i think i will like much more when i read a second time (what im sure i will be doing)

What i miss specific was more caracters that i could feel attached to beyond Yangchen and Kavik

Is not that i hated the other caracters, its just that i dont care abolt them, (this might change, i start to be interested in Jujinta by end) like if any of them had died i wouldn't really have given much thought (unlike how i still not over Lek's death)

One of my favorite parts in the Kyoshi novels is easily the Flying Opera Company and her chaotic found families

And i get that its a diferent novel and i really like that IT IS diferent and feels diferent

Honestly i think it suits well

Its just my personal taste and i miss it

I love how the books are shaped in a way its suits the avatar they are about like how that word seems to be sheped with/by the current avatar

I LOVE Yangchen and Kavik, both as a duo and individually, they are just such good and organic caracthers

And theirs paralels are amazing

Not even gonna extend in this now cuz i feel i will talk a lot more and better about it in the second book (that im soooo excided to read, by the end of this one + some spoilers i have)

i like the vilan, she herself its a little whatever, and the main conflict was not my favorite, but i like the growing tension and how its feels like an unsolvable, irremediable chaos that Yangchen is just trying to hold the ends of it

It was a pretty good setting of a political conflict, even tho i didnt like the political conflict

In general is that basically Kavik and Yangchen successfully carried the book

So i have wanted to make my own little mini comics, how do you go about organizing panels and whatnot? ALSO love your artstyle!! and the fankids too! they are so truecore :)

This is a hard question, because I usually just go with the flow BSKDJSKFJFSKD but I'll try to see if I can put it into words!!!

So first is writing the dialogue. I don't actually write it down, I just kind of imagine the conversation, but I do recommend to write it somewhere just in case you forget something, I just don't do it because I'm lazy bskdbkcjskc

Then I separate that dialogue into panels!! Try not to put too much dialogue in one panel, tho. If a character keeps talking it's better to just put that dialogue in different panels.

How I organize the panels visually is actually my weakest point, I think jskdjskfbksd My general advice is to make the order in which they're supposed to be read obvious and easy to follow (usually it's top to bottom and left to right, so just make it clear which one is on top and which one is on the left of the page, and the other way around as well).

As for composition, I can't really say much because I'm not very good at it myself, but just try to not make every panel look the same nskdbskcjs like, sometimes I put the character in the middle, and make them really small if it's supposed to be like a tense, or dramatic moment, or sometimes out two caracters in a panel and then in different ones????

Honestly my best advice is to just use references, like with any drawing bwkfkhsufk I feel like my best comics happen when I'm using references.

Hi Mei question what are you favorite characters from all fiction? Because in my case i have about top 10 list plus honorable mentions:

1. Spider-man (Peter Parker and Miles Morales) (Marvel Comics)- I honestly love these two spider-man because how relatable they are. Not to mention i feel like they are the definition of responsability. I honestly related to Peter Parker's nerdy actitud and humor along with Miles's personality wise. I also love the fact thag Miles have a strong love for his family as well. Not to mention both of these characters don't give up no matter how hopeless things gets.

2. Superman (DC Comics)- Some people considered superman boring but i really love his caracter because he embodies Hope. Not to mention he is someone who always tries to do what is right and have a very strong moral compass. I still remember when i was younger and saw superman returns when he lifted the kypotonite Island. Even when it was killing him he still keep going and never gave up that's is inspiration.

3. Batman (DC Comics)- If we ignored all the batman with prep time thing. Batman is actually a well written character. Especially since he tries to do the right thing for his city. I also love the fact that even though he is human and is very aware of that he plans ahead and works very hard. The fact that mlst characters in the DC world respects him that speaks volumen.

4. Optimus Prime (Transformers)- I love optimus prime for me he is what a leader should be. Selfless, just and someone who always fights for freedom no matter what. He is the leader that i wish i could be.

5. Kratos (God of war franchise). To a bloodthirty and revenge seeking spartan to a reedem warrior. As someone who played the OG god of war games. Kratos in the recent years have one of the best character development, especially now in the recent DLC.

6. Anakin Skywalker Aka Darth Vader (Star Wars)- he went to a slave to the Dark lord of the Sith. Once a hero became the villain by fear of lost of loved one. For me Anakin is a tragic character who wanted to protect the love of his life but failed and became the thing he was supposed to destroy. At the end he was redeemed thanks to his son.

7. Black Panther (Marvel Comics)- i love his character intelligent, strong and just for his people and his kingdom. The fact that Chadwick Boseman (Rest in Peace) played such and awesome character made it better.

8. Wonder Woman (DC Comics)- The proud amazonian and a proud member of the Justice League. She is strong, honorable and compassionate making her an Icon and a part of DC trinity.

9. The Flash (Barry Allen, DC comics)- i love is perseverance and willpower since he never gave up on searching for his mother's killer. After becoming the fastest man alive is character development continue and his death on infinite crisis was a huge moment.

10. John Wick (John Wick series)- the legendary baba yaga this man willpower and tenacity made me love his character by a lot. He has an impresive body count and commites to his mision. To think all of that started with a puppy left behind by his late wife. What i like about his character is that he never stop until he got his revenge.

Issac Clarke (dead space series)- An engineer who was on the wrong place at the wrong time. To a dependable and selfless survivor.

Kiana Kaslana (Honkai Impact 3rd)- the naive girl to the strongest valkyrie in the honkai series.

Lara Croft (Tomb Raider series)- one of the greatest if not THE greatest Adventurer in all of gaming.

Nathan Drake (Uncharted)- One of sony most charming and beloved characters.

Leon Kennedy (Resident Evil series)-Rookie cop to a well experience agent of the resident evil franchise.

I see you like superheroes! My siblings were mostly into anime, so that's what I grew up with instead of Marvel/DC comics. I've been wanting to get into them for years now, but there are so many movies and heroes that it's a bit overwhelming... I also don't have the attention span to sit through an entire movie.

I wouldn't be able to choose any favorites with how much fiction I've read/watched/played, but here are some characters I've really enjoyed recently in no particular order:

Dr. Mobius - She's insane. Literally. She has a sad backstory, but it doesn't tie that much into why she goes to such extents to achieve her goals. I just like morally grey characters in general. I also really like her dynamics with the other flamechasers!

Frieren - She's so unserious, but she's come a long way. She went from not really caring about humans, only spending her time pursuing magic, to actively helping out anyone she sees in need like Himmel used to. To be loved is to be changed, they say. She's just an old woman traveling around the world with her adopted grandchildren while collecting the remaining traces of the 10-year adventure that she treasured the most in her 1000+ years alive.

Rudeus Greyrat - Okay. Before people burn me alive, he's absolutely disgusting and a pedophile. Yet, at the same time, that's what makes his character development way more impactful. He went from worse than trash and the maggots living inside it to worse than cattle, which is still a pretty big improvement in my book. The main reason why I put him here, though, is because of the scene where he reunited with his father. I'm not a very expressive person, but that scene had me tearing up because of how relatable it was.

Elysia - I love her, and the best part is that she'd probably love me too! She went through so much, saw the worst of humanity, and still decided to love the entirety of it. I really admire how she can see beauty in anything and everything. She wasn't even supposed to exist. She was an anomaly, and yet she was what saved everyone. Also, the one thing we have in common is our love for pretty girls.

Miles Morales - ITSV and ATSV are one of the only Marvel movies I've watched, and I enjoyed both of them immensely! They blended 2D and 3D animation techniques so well together, the halftones were used really well, and all of the colors really made the characters pop. I could go on for hours about how well the movies were animated, but back to the point— even though he's a hero, and a very reliable one at that, the show doesn't let us forget that he's still a kid. He still has to balance his responsibilities while at the same time, fighting crime and dealing with puberty. He also just seems like a really chill person to be friends with. We're both into similar branches of science and art, so I think we'd get along pretty well.

Let's deal with one more book with The lion of Macedon, from David Gemmell! Review below the cut!

The Lion of Macedon is probably one of the most famous books on this list, with over five thousands ratings on Goodreads. The book was published in the nineties and I feel like it explains some of the... oddities of this book. This is a fantasy book, so be reading for magical shenanigans.

The main character of the book is Parmenion, which is a good thing because it's not Alexander, an okay thing because the character is tolerable, and a bad thing because Oh Gods he is SO overpowered. Like really, for a man with such a bland personnality, he really is the Death of Nation, the guy who singlehandly wins every major battle that was during his lifetime.

Pro of having Parmenion as a main character: the story starts earlier than most, with a whole arc in Thebes, as well as plenty of time devoted to Philippos at the start of his reign. We also get three "love" stories for Parmenion and I mostly found them extremely boring and borderline cringy. Gemmell didn't write the worst female characters, but they aren't the best either. Let's just say that "he tried".

I have very mixed feelings about this book. It was highly enjoyable, but sometimes it was enjoyable for the wrong reasons, and it also has a very... strange arc, that honestly cracks me up.

So let's start with why I think this book is weird.

I like character development. As a reader and an author, what hooks me is characters. And wowwww some of the caracters get weird at time.

Let's illustrate this with Philip and his boyfriend of Schrödinger : there is a character called Nikanor (I think, I'm not sure, tbh he wasn't much of a character). We first see him through Philip's eyes, who just stares at this guy for two seconds and that's it (actually, I'm now wondering if there wasn't some gay stuffs cut at the end of the scene, you'll see why). Then, a few scenes later, we get a moment when Philip is fighting a guy and we get the really weird sentence that this guy looks like Nikanor but he still doesn't hesitate and engages him in combat.

I was like "uuuuuh weird. But then, a few scenes after that, another character says that this guy is Philip's lover. And I was like HOW ? We got several scenes from Philip's POV, with this guy in the scene, and this guy was NEVER his lover in these scenes??? Then, a few chapters after that, we get another character talking with Nikanor, about how he's not the king's favorite anymore... But dude, he never was ? I mean, did Philip have a boyfriend without being aware ? Was there some gay stuffs in there that got cut because it's the 90s and somehow, they didn't get rid of everything? IDK but it was weird.

There are moments when the characters just ignore extremely important stuffs. While it's usually not true for Parmenion, everyone else (starting with Philip who really, is the most forgiving king ever) seems to keep forgetting they just lived very traumatic and/or important things, such as saving each other's lives, killing their own evil twin, or that demons are plotting against Alexander. Philip is both very smart and extremely dumb, they all fall for the worst plots, such as Philip growing super paranoid for no reasons and then everyone understanding he's been manipulated by demons, but I mean dudes, it's like the tenths time demons have tried mindcontrolling people, how come this still surprises you?

The book does have really interesting moments. However, more often than not, I feel like Gemmell doesn't give enough time for the drama to sink in. I'll keep talking about Philip because why not, but there a really interesting moment when he's told his brother died and he can try for the throne. The interesting part is that at first, he thinks that he doesn't want to be king, and it would be an interesting dilemma for him to struggle a bit about that... but no. He thinks "oh no I'd rather hunt and get drunk and sleep with women" and three lines later he's like "oh okay let's go to Pella and become king".

Well, that was quickly done with! He's then faced with another dilemma, with a friend of him suggestion he kills Amyntas. The scene starts GREAT, with Philip actually going to the child's room ready to kill him, hand on his dagger, and... it's solved in three lines and then he starts chatting and joking witht he mother of the child and everyone seems to forget he just walked in dagger in hand to murder the boy.

Wasted opportunities, really.

Let's move to when the book get wild.

Okay so Alexander is half demon and the host of a dark god who wants to destroy the world. It's sometimes interesting, most of the time it isn't, because it's never subtle. That's not a spoiler, it's written on the cover.

What's not on the cover is Philippos of Macedoyne (in French ; I have no idea how it's called in English, Macedonya ? No idea but it gets an "y" for fantasy's sake, I guess). For some very mysterious reason, Philippos (the evil twin from the fantasy world) is an immortal demon king with an eye of gold that can read minds.

And Philip is somehow the normal somewhat historical guy.

I mean. How do you get wilder than Demon Child Alexander being abducted by the Demonic Immortal Evil Twin of his own father????

Ah and as a end note Bucephalus was Parmenion's horse all along because of course he would be, nothing can exist in this world outside of Parmenion's awesomeness.

What I really feel about this book

One of my most entertaining read of the year, but probably for the wrong reasons. I skipped some parts entirely because of boredom, found some other parts really weird, I was sometimes puzzled, there are a lot of missed opportunities. I did like that we get to see what happens before Alexander and the book can get really fun. It's very fast paced, with a lot of things happening, and it's not scared of being weird and wild. I sometimes felt like it was a gulty pleasure and I did reread some scenes, but I also feel like I was sometimes laughing at the book rather than with the book.

If you are curious about Thebe and the early years of Philip's reign, you'll probably find stuffs in this book. It's pretty easy to find at a low price, so give it a try, if I didn't scare you!

Hello mares and foals! These past months, a nice lady read way too many books about Alexander. Here are my advices about which books to avoid and books you should read.

MUST READ

I am the great horse (Katherine Roberts): The tale of Alexander told from MY POV so obviously the best book, Five stars.

Bucéphale (Pénélope Jossen): 32 pages of Alexander being very cute with me, that's 100% of the book this author knows her priorities, five stars.

MAYBE

Dancing with the Lion: Becoming: The story of Alexander the Great, before his rise (Jeanne Reames): I have no POV in this and had to read it twice to decide that Hephaistion's horse having a personnality is worth some stars. I am not sure about the part where Hephaistion is riding me, I don't want people to think I can actually be nice. I'll give it two stars because we see a lot of horses.

The lion's cub (L. M. Zorn): I am the one who started the love story between Alexander and Hephaistion so it does deserves some stars, also Hephaistion has named horses and I like to have friends!

Lord of the two lands (Judith Tarr): I have no POV in this and the only horse that shows up has bad manners, but it has a cat and for some reason you humans like cats.

The Lion of Macedon (David Gemmell): One star for me getting an origin story but I'll take it back because it's a FALSE origin story.

The virtues of war (Steven Pressfield): I don't show up a lot but when I do I'm the best, that deserves one star.

AVOID A change of fate (Melissa Scott): I have no scene in this and die offscreen at the beginning of the book, NO STAR.

Hisutorie (Hitoshi Iwaaki): This is a manga about Eumenes so of course I don't show up a lot. I am very puzzled by Alexander and Hephaistion being the same person and I have to give zero star to Alexander being the most stupid Alexander I ever carried on my back.

Memnon (Scott Oden): I have ONE scene in this. ONE. No point in reading this book.

The golden mean (Annabel Lyon): A book told from Aristotle's POV who, for some reason, isn't paying any attention to me. To me! He's too busy teaching Arrhidaios to do human things, I guess. Zero stars.

The twin soul of Alexander (Lawrence M. Scheier): The boys spend so much time getting laid they don't have any left for ME. I get that having a herd and grooming your mares is important, but so am I!

Archias the exile hunter (The Issos incident and The Siege of Tyr) (Robert Fabbri): Those are short stories but if the author had time for Hephaistion to look pretty, he had time to make me look good! He didn't, zero stars!

I DON'T KNOW

A fire from heaven (Mary Renault): I don't even remember if I show up in this.

Alexander, child of a dream (Valerio Manfredi): I don't know if I show up in this because the woman reading the book did not finish it, according to her it was "the worst Alexander book she ever read" or at least, the most badly written.

Note from the human who actually read those book: The only book on this list that I DON'T recommend is the one from Manfredi. The others are not always well written, but I found something great in each.

If I had to name one favorite, it would be Dancing with the lion, since it's the only one I read twice from the beginning to the end.

Prompt: Can I request romantic headcanons before+after they officially start dating their s/o for the Ram Villagers? If that's too much then just Gray and Kliff.             

Alm:

○ He spends a lot of time with them beforehand honestly. He wants to be around them as much as possible

○ He’s really nice and he gets flirty but he’s really bashful about it honestly? Like he’ll flirt and then get all pink and go right back to normal chat

○ Alm has a bit of a hard time with the transition between before and after, still being a bit shy. It takes him a bit to get used to it but he’s obviously happy

○ After he is used to it he’s more protective. He’s not overly so, but he does feel like he has more of a responsibility to keep you safe than he did before

○ Alm is a little bolder (as long as you’re alone) once in a relationship. He’s not as shy about flirting or outright confessing his feelings and does it fairly often

Gray:

○ Before you get together boy pines bad. He admires you from afar and often gets caught daydreaming while staring at you

○ Gray isn’t afraid to admit his feelings before you’re together, but only if you push a little. He drops heavy hints but doesn’t outright confess if you don’t pull it out of him a little

○ Gray actually becomes a bit more comfortable around you once you’re together, because he knows where he stands.

○ He also doesn’t hesitate to say how he feels like he did before. Lots of random ‘I love you’s’ once you’ve been together a while

○ Tactile when you’re together. He hesitated to touch you too much before aside from a teasing hair ruffle or push, but once you’re together expect lots of hugs and such - even in front of all of your friends

Tobin:

○ Tries to seem really macho beforehand because he assumes that’s what would make you most interested

○ Literally half the army is trying to wingman for him help this guy please. They all turn on him and tease him once you’re together though, even if they are happy for you. Rip.

○ It takes it a while for it to really sink in for Tobin that you actually like him when you start dating. Like, you’re seriously into him for real.

○ Tobin is a lot more open and honest about himself (not that he’s good at hiding it anyway) once you’re together because he realizes he doesn’t need to be anything more for you to like him

○ Still totally tries to show off for you. Just doesn’t get dejected when you laugh at him once you’re together

Kliff:

○ Before you’re dating Kliff totally tells his friends he’s not into you. None of them buy it but he’ll deny it until he’s blue in the face

○ Flirts with you though, and always tries to sound intelligent and smooth. Sometimes he does, and other times he’s like ‘see u basoon haha’ and Tobin has to stop him from digging himself a hole to lay and die in

○ Acts like he always knew you’d end up together once you are but he’s actually really happy. you can tell because he doesn’t yell at Tobin is smiling for like three days straight

○ Kliff is much more relaxed around you once you’re together. He jokes more readily and speaks openly with you instead of seeming forced as he did beforehand

○ Kliff is actually more tactile before you’re together because once you are he finds your company itself more comfortable and doesn’t feel that he needs to force things that aren’t natural to him to show that he cares (which you help him understand a little as well)

Faye:

○ Even before you’re dating Faye isn’t really afraid to make her feelings known. She wont act on them though she wont deny them

○ She’s still pretty protective of you though, and will risk her life to keep you safe

○ Literally screams when you accept her once she asks you out she is ecstatic

○ Once you’re together Faye likes to tell you about the daydreams she has of the two of you - be it realistic ones of potentially starting a family or far fetched ones of like a unicorn farm or something

○ She also likes to act like a couple since she knows it wouldn’t be disrespecting your feelings. Loves to hold your hand and go on dates - couply things
