Kusôzu Brothers minus Choso because y'all know his deal / can read the wiki

Eso (rupture)

He died, came back and all he got for it was this new look. Eso is the most charming and personable, in part because he's the most courteous. He's while he can be very self-conscious about his looks and become enraged when he feels he's being mocked or tease he's very even keeled and relaxed. It comes from being in between Choso and Kechizu who both need someone to balance out their extremes. He tends to act as Choso's second in command and helps him keep his cool. He's funny, laid back and naturally very sensual. When he loses his temper he becomes extremely violent and goes on a rampage that only his brothers can contain. He enjoys creature comforts and warm casual atmospheres. If he were to get a job he'd do gangbusters as a host. While he still has his canon power set I want to try and lean into the different stages they all represent. So when Eso is able to tag someone with his blood he's basically priming someone to burst where he's hit them. Basically it causes all the blood vessels in that area to immediately and violently rupture.

Kechizu (exudation of blood)

He also died, came back and all he got for it was this new look. He's also now officially the more normal looking now after being the least normal before. Ignoring the naturally green hair of course. Of all his brothers he's the most airheaded. He doesn't want to work and he just wants to play and goof off. He's one of the brothers that Choso worries about the most since he can be slow to pick up on things or stick up for himself. While he's mostly harmless his cursed spirit side can come out in what he thinks is "fun" as that can end up being pretty dangerous and sadistic. He's the one least likely to ever live alone or get married since he's truly the most childish. Still even with his slacker fuck up vibes he's actually a pretty great guy to know. Kechizu has a naturally uplifting energy and can keep spirits up even in the worst of situations with his natural optimism. Basically he's season 1 Sailor Moon lol. If he had a job he would be a gaming streamer. He also has his canon abilities as well but I also wanted to work in that idea of "exudation of blood" and so he has the ability to cause catastrophic hemophilia. Once his blood is in someone and he triggers his technique the target's blood cells are immediately targeted and destroyed. They loose all kinds of ability to coagulate, their blood gets thinner etc. It acts something like snake venoms and ebola, it is.... horrific to see and feels fucking awful. This does also work on cursed spirits.

Noranso (putrefaction)

A bit of a put upon middle child, he also just has the least energy of all of them. Noranso himself will say it's because Kechizu took all of it. He's quiet and broody with a very black and sarcastic sense of humor. He's another brother Choso worries about a lot. Noranso may not seem like it but he's quite sensitive and self isolates to protect himself. He fails to see beauty in anything since he knows just how easy it is for that beauty to be destroyed. He's basically the brother with chronic fatigue and lowkey depression. He enjoys literature, poetry and ikebana. While he's not the most energetic he's very methodical and tenacious making him very good at interrogating information and investigating. Out of all the brothers he's the least trusting and most cynical about the world. He can seem like he sees his brothers as a nuisance but he loves them very much and appreciates how they always make sure to include him and keep him from becoming a recluse. Part of why he prefers to stay apart from human society is because he's actually one of the most physically inhuman. It's not immediately apparent since he's always in very loose kimono but if you see him topless it's obvious. If he had a real job it would be researcher or accountant. His ability is basically acid touch. He can melt through pretty much anything, living things or inanimate objects. At the higher levels of use he can end up melting off parts of his own body with his attacks tho it doesn't seem to bother him and he regenerates with ease thanks to the genetics he inherited from their mother.

Seioso (discoloration and desiccation)

The most capricious and outwardly cruel, he's mischievous and nosy and seems to love making people squirm. He follows his whims and interests, picking up and putting down things at a random and making a mess his brothers have to clean up. He likes to explore and experiment with art, especially color and pattern. His callously capricious nature has two settings basically "i'm tormenting you because i love you" and "i'm tormenting you because i hate you" which aren't always easy for an outsider to decipher. He's like a mean and very fancy cat lol. He only like to do things he's interested in and basically has to be bribed into doing anything which annoys Choso to no end. When he does become close to someone it becomes clear that some of his mean cat persona is an act, he knows exactly what he's doing and just likes to stir the pot. He thinks people running around panicking is funny. Once you're on his good side he's very kind and thoughtful, though it can be hard to figure out how to get there. If had a real job it would be as an artist or quirky interior designer. Since his stage mentions two things I had to get a bit abstract lol. Basically when he tags someone it causes a kind of discoloration on the body, like the stages of a bruise. That discoloration signals what kind of bad shit is about to happen to them. When I said "sensory destruction" elsewhere what I mean is basically he attacks the nervous system. He disrupts signals all around the body to the brain and create all kinds of issues-- pain, tinitus, vertigo, hallucinations, blindness, poor motor skills, nausea etc. when he cranks it up he can even actively degrade the nervous system making the effects permanent or causing things like blindness.

Lanso (consumption by animals and birds)

Lanso is the most rude and abrasive at first but it's just because he's no bullshit. He doesn't really believe in civility or couching what you say, if he likes you he tells you if he doesn't he's not hiding it. He's very honest and true to himself and will refuse to do anything he feels contradicts his sense of self/beliefs. He enjoys nature the most of all the brothers and hates having to be in the city for too long. He thinks they're all noisy and dirty and overcrowded. He generally prefers the company of animals over people tho he always makes time for his brothers who he loves a lot. Despite how he doesn't care much for people he's probably one of the most likely to get married since he's a very good communicator. While he's very firm about sticking to his guns he's not totally inflexible so he's a good mediator when he's not starting shit. He's a very nurturing person and enjoys anything that let's him use his whole body like sports or handicrafts. He's the most likely to bring home animals even when told not to. Just like his animals he enjoys the thrill of hunting prey. If he had a real job he'd be a forest ranger or animal trainer. His ability is using shikigami but there's a bit more to it than the usual ones. His shikigami tend to be the spirits of animals he's bonded with and are able to be made corporeal. He keeps their bones on him and summons them with those which is also how they can be made corporeal. He can also merge with them and increase his strength while diversifying his abilities. These shikigami are also much more autonomous than the average shikigami, essentially they're trained combat animals with preternatural intelligence.

Sanso (dismemberment)

Sanso is both very laid back and very bullheaded. He likes things the way he likes them and he wants things to go his way. He seems like he's agreeable at first and then the nos keep coming. Sometimes he'll just go behind people's backs and make it the way he likes it after everyone's already finished the job. Knowing how to manage him is a whole skill that only half the brothers have figured out. He's so bullheaded in part because he's trying to push people out of the comfort zone, especially people like Choso who tend to play it safe out of anxiety. Sanso is very comfortable in himself and good with taking criticism and letting adversity roll of him. It's very hard to make him upset or discouraged. While he's very forceful in getting his way once people actually try it he's open to stepping down, again because his goal is to push boundaries. Like Seioso he has an artistic eye tho his is more towards the avante garde, brutalist and experimental, usually in contexts like architecture. He believes it's important to take things to the limits so that you can break free of the constraints keeping you down. His dedication to this philosophy had led to the deaths of people with weaker physiologies, which is a sacrifice he's willing to make. His ability is similar to Sukuna's cleave/dismantle with the added aspect in that he can dismantle his own body as well. When he does that it increases his mobility, range of attack and ability to do stealth attacks. He can also then reconfigure his body however he sees fit allowing him to extend limbs or hide vital organs. So he can tear you to pieces while making himself impossible to hit.

Kosso (bones)

Kosso is the kind of guy you unironically want to be friends with. He's kind, funny, good-natured and up for anything. He likes to be social and do things in groups. He's a good listener and he likes to make people feel comfortable. He likes being an observer and appreciates the impermanence of experience. It's extremely hard to make him upset or rile him up at all. Where Sanso forcibly pushes people to expand their horizons Kosso simply tries to get the ball of consideration rolling. He would prefer to solve things peacefully but will get aggressive without a lot of complaint when he has to. He's uninterested in things like revenge and doesn't approve of things that continue cycles. As one of the most stable of the brothers he tends to be the caretaker of the rest, handling things like cleaning and cooking. If he had a real job it'd be in hospitality or cooking. His ability is basically that he can use his bones as weapons and alter his body with his bone control in all kinds of fucked up ways. He can also control his bones when they're outside his body but his main use of them is just crazy fucked up weapons.

Shoso (parched to dust)

The baby and the most gentle of all the brothers. Shoso has the benefit of learning from the many ups and downs of his brothers and their experiences. He is extremely patient, kind, considerate and understanding. He enjoys meditative activities like ikebana, calligraphy, gardening etc. He feels that his brothers have done so much and sacrificed so much that he wants to pay them back with acts of kindness that ease their lives as well as share that good will with others. He feels that grudges, revenge and negativity are pointless as well as thinking that clinging too tightly to the things we love can be damaging. He strives for moderation in all things and works to build a peaceful environment to facilitate that. In that sense he's the biggest aberration of them all as it seems the grudge of his mother and his cursed spirit father's nature have not impacted him at all. He's extremely opposed to violence and getting him to hurt people can take a lot of prompting. His ability is the most deadly of all the brothers as he can disintegrate someone with a touch. Once he's touched you there's no stopping the process. He can only do this if he touches you and it's limited to his left arm, basically a natural binding vow/heavenly restriction to allow for this instant one shot kill.

idiot doom spiral cuts him off here. but electrochemistry is the only skill that talks about the basal ganglia (Ancient Reptilian Brain). After some research it looks like the mesolimbic pathway and basal ganglia are closely related, and certain structures are even shared between them. Which might explain why electrochemistry is more in tune with ancient reptilian brain than the other skills. There's actually a really similar thing with perception (smell) talking to limbic system, and the olfactory system and limbic system share pathways in the brain. fascinating. which then raises the question of if pre-martinaise harry knew these things -- knows what a mesolimbic pathway is, and an olfactory system and a basal ganglia, and then named them accordingly? or if it was something else...?

(hopefully this is right, I'm a programmer not a neuroscientist. if someone who actually knows about brains knows more please say something lol)

Let’s get the obvious out of the way, Ken Wakui has a very distinct art style. And I love it! A lot of people are making fun of it (mostly on Twitter/X), and it’s really sad. I love his style, and character development.

I have high hopes for this manga, and want to paint a picture of what to expect for those who also want to get into it♡

Terasu Yotsurugi - 12th Son

Loving Terasu’s take-no-shit personality so far. Simultaneously, he seems very kind and loyal to Hibaru’s ideals.

Hibaru Yotsurugi - only Biological Son

I love Hibaru’s chivalrous/“old-fashion” ideology. He may seem ‘generic shonen protagonist’ right now, but i don’t care. I will appreciate him.

As for our blue eyes beauty over here, we have yet to see her yet. She seems very cute though.

Story Direction and Expectations

I trust Wakui. The way he explores his stories is through character bonds and personal ideals.

This is one of the reasons why I grew so fond of Tokyo Revengers.

Plus… it’s Found-Family Gang activity. It’s my soft spot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I would say Yakuza but I want to be respectful in how I throw that word around, so I’ll avoid it for now if I can.

The supernatural powers that get involved will surely lead to a type of succession war between the siblings.

“What it means to be strong” will probably be the fundamental lesson of the story.

I am so excited to see how Negai no Astro will progress!

Comments on Netflix's Avatar The Last Airbender

First of all I'm gonna start by saying it is one of the best adaptations I've seen so far. And that's the key word, adaptation. I've seen a lot of fans and others complain about some things that honestly, doesn't make sense because some things only work in a cartoon(just as much as some things only work in a book or a video game)

And before I start to talk about some topics that I judge important, I also wanna say that the production is fantastic, from the costumes to the CGI. It all looks amazing. (A part from Yue's wig)

1. The Script

It's not easy to pick 20+ episodes and make it fit in only 8 but damn they did a hell of a good job, especially when judging what was important to show and what they could let it go. Some fans commented that since there's no fillers, the Gaang and others miss some development but I think that for the universe of the live action what we got here it worked.

I can express how much I like to see Ozai and Azula's relationship and how it is now clear that he uses the siblings against each other, manipulating them to get what he wants. But I will admit I miss the fear Azula had, since it's implied in the show and some extras that she does fear Ozai, and fears becoming like Zuko.

I hope the 41. Is just fine after the battle in the north. See all of them bowing to Zuko after discovering that Zuko was the one that saved their asses and was heavily punished by that...it was beautiful. I loved the writers did that, give names and faces to Zuko's crew and a beautiful yet sad arc when Ozai banished his son and the men who he saved.

I also loved that they put weight into things that was treated as a joke, like Katara talking about her mother. She was a little kid who saw her mom get murdered in front of her and the live action made sure to let us know that it is not okay to make jokes about something so traumatic. All of the deaths here have tons of weight in it, it's not some random person, is someone we met, someone we liked, someone who helped. The costs of the war, something the cartoon manages to show us but know in live action, with real people, the massage gets stronger.

And they didn't forget Iroh's past like the fandom does, which is great. That actor, the earthbending soldier really let it all out, that's how you use the few screentime you have.

Sokka's isn't sexist and y'all were making a storm outta a cup of water, is not like Sokka sexist didn't go away after like the 4 or 5 episode in the original show. I think the live action was able to bring more depth to him in comparison to the first season of the cartoon. We see how he feels about his father's, the absence of him and his duty as warrior who kinda doesn't want to be a warrior.

I need a Gyatso in my life, I didn't know I needed to see more of him until the live action gave us more of him. Kyoshi was the Thor coming to Wakanda from this season, WHY THE FUCK BRYKE DONT WANNA GIVE US A KYOSHI SERIES? She is absolutely a jewel of a character. Roku and Kuruk, damn poor Kuruk man, so much pain in his words but again that's what it means to be the Avatar, it's not fun and games. Zhao saying to Aang what Korra villains said to Korra😭 that the world doesn't need the Avatar anymore, it hurt.

Guys I'm gonna say it, there's no way in hell for anyone to ship Kataang here. I'm saying this because some shippers complain that the secret tunnel part was different but c'mon, look at Kiawentiio and look at Gordon, it would be so s awkward and weird and just wrong. I know they don't have a big age difference, is only like 3 years but when they filmed Gordon looked so much younger than her, maybe in the next seasons the difference won't be that big.

The pace is good, once you start you don't wanna stop.

2. The Acting

Everyone is really good at capturing the essence of it's characters and somewhat making them their own. The highlights for me were Dallas and Ian, Its like they came straight from the show. Ken Leung's Zhao was also amazing as he was way more threatening here than he was in the show.

Kiawentiio was the Katara we were looking for, she is kind yet strong, brave and caring. And Gordon was Aang, sure, he has to learn a few things since he slipped a few times in his acting but nothing that could ruin the experience, that kid is good and just needs some experience.

Elizabeth Yu was Azula. It was different but yet the same character, is like learning something new of her and I like how cleared she show emotions with her eyes. Maria Zhang had great chemistry with Ian and I can't wait to see more of Suki. Arden Cho and Yvonne Chapman as June and Avatar Kyoshi look like they came out straight from the cartoon. Daniel Dae Kim...man is Ozai, so cold, so sharp, so scary, already way better than the cartoon version. I wanna see more of Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh since the character he really starts to shine in book 2.

3. The live action doesn't have the spirit of the OG?

Yes, it does have. The thing is now that we are seeing real people, things get dark one way or another but I don't think it ruined the spirit of the show. Aang is still a kid, Sokka still making sarcastic jokes, Zuko still annoying as hell, Katara still hopeful and strong... There's everything there really.

The thing is stuff like genocide, murder, war, death and suffering are, for some people, better to watch as pixels in a cartoon than real people.

I think it's a great adaptation and I would recommend it to every fan.

okay so out of all the anime ive ever seen, know, or like i think these animes would maybe fit your fancy:

Revolutionary Girl Utena.

spoke about it in my last ask so u can find more info there if u havent already seen it, but please anyone reading this, if u havent seen this anime please PLEASE go watch it. trigger warnings for the things i discussed in the last ask i answered, but it is beautifully animated, it crafts a deep, meaningful, and impactful story about breaking down the patriarchal ideals of what it means to be a "prince" and "princess". how society tries to assign us these roles based off of our gender or sex, and how they affect both men and women in terms of toxic masculinity, and how young girls and women pay the price for it. it is often told in heavy symbolism and metaphors or through a fairy tale like lens, but it all has a purpose. theres a ton of symbolic meaning in it that i still dont understand, even after my most recent rewatch. its stunning, and its queer as hell! directed by none other than kunihiko ikuhara, if anyone is familiar with any of his other popular works (such as the sailor moon R movie, yurikuma arashi, and penguindrum)

2) CLANNAD

HEAR ME OUT i ADORE clannad it is one of my top 5 animes ever and it is BEAUTIFUL. its two seasons total, produced by kyoani, and it is funny, charming, beautiful, and tragic. the second season is its most acclaimed, because After Story is just....breathtaking, but the first season rly starts off good too. the humor is so fucking good, i found myself laughing my ass off all through both seasons and it reads as a harem, but it doesnt follow the exact same harem tropes because the main guy has always had eyes for one girl since day 1 so....sorry ladies this is nagisa's house. also it is based off of an old 2000s otome game so thats why too. but clannad follows the main story, nagisa's route.

the story is essentially about a high schooler named Tomoya Okazaki who hates his dad, the town he lives in, and himself. and on the hill going to school one day he meets a senior, Nagisa Furukawa, and she's talking to herself to calm herself down because she's afraid to go back to school. tomoya overhears and it kinda...resonates with him. so he basically says theyll do it together. and so kicks off their story, about how nagisa's passion to follow her dreams before her senior year is over warms up tomoya's frozen heart and they fall for each other. it has a good cast of characters, like the girls in the cover shown and more, and its a slice of life, drama. beautiful 10/10 definitely recommend. get ur tissues ready tho i will warn u, i stayed crying like a baby lolol

3) Cardcaptor Sakura

another magical girl series if u havent already seen it! a classic among the magical girl genre, i offer you CLAMP's probably highest grossing series, cardcaptor sakura! i grew up on this anime, and im talkin GREW UP i was 9 when i watched this anime in japanese on youtube in 3 parts lmao (i was not fuckin with that 4kids dub ngl) and i adore this anime. granted it is a CLAMP creation, therefore there are some Questionable things in there, but the story, art style, characters, and magic are rly fun!!! plus....SYAORAN LI UM HELLO??? MY SON???? total tsundere brat, but hes a dream boat too yknow????

i wassss going to recommend Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle as my third ngl, because it does have sakura and syaoran as their main protagonists in trc, as well as many other clamp characters (mcu who?) buttttttt tsubasa is always a shot in the dark to recommend to people because 1) the anime sucks. if u want the true, authentic story u gotta read the manga. i am rolling around in my grave for all eternity until tsubasa gets a manga-faithful anime adaptation....and 2) not a lot of people like tsubasa because its unnecessarily convoluted lolol there are definitely gripes i have with certain aspects of its story, but i adore that manga with all my being it is sooo so good.

Lee Kanker is in last place. She gets lower than F tier. Where Marie and May had moments where they seemed to genuinely care about each other, Lee just sits there, manipulates, and spreads cruelty. And as for the times where Marie and May were fighting/being mean etc? Well, I have a theory. Remember in Big Picture Show where we see that Lee has a third eye? You know who else has a third eye for no good reason…?

I REALLY wish we could have seen more of what happened to Jonny post Big Picture Show. Him being “The Gourd” and having a villain arc just sounds super fun. Other than that he’s just a weird kid. I like him.

Don’t let Jimmy fool y’all. He’s a lil maniac. He probably gets it from Sarah. And it’s always a shocker to me given how much he acts so innocent and harmless. He’s a pretty neat anti hero.

I KNOW I SHOULD HATE SARAH. But I feel like there’s more to her than meets the eye. I honestly think her parents taught her the hate her big brother. If they weren’t around, she probably wouldn’t been to mean to him. Making me feel extremely sympathetic for both of them. And at least she looks after Jimmy, giving her redeeming qualities.

To be honest this show needs a character like Nazz. Everything has to be balanced out with someone who isn’t constantly out to get something, being mean, or acting like a weirdo. But yes, she does have her moments, which are rightfully deserved. Plus, I just really like her chill and hippie way of going about.

Marie Kanker and May Kanker are being ranked together. The potential they have to be redeemed is through the roof. They deserve so much better. If Lee wasn’t around to mess with their heads, I think they would be truly happy. Marie could spend her days jamming out and living on the edge, while May is cute and ditzy and a voice of reason at times. Plus both of their hairstyles are really eye candy for me.

The Ed boys are also being ranked together. What else can I say that hasn’t been said already? The way these three bounce off of each other is extremely enjoyable and definitely gets good laughs out of me. I know they have their moments where they aren’t so friendly, but you don’t always have to get along with someone for you to still love them. And when the gentle giant goof, the soft hearted nerd, and the selfish man with a heart of gold do get along, it’s sweeter than jawbreakers :)

Rolf is hands down one of if not the best side character in animation history. He’s a goober for one thing. But a goober that’s gets us to take him seriously. You do not mess with this man. His pride is enough to break you leg. And yet, he still manages to be one of the nicest characters in the show. He’s so friendly and upbeat! And when he isn’t… his dark side is also a fun time.

And another thing, he’s a fish out of water. Which also allows the viewer to feel sympathetic for him. Like in Wish You Were Ed. Seeing Rolf cry is something you’d never think you’d see, but when you do, it makes you feel a somber emotion you had no idea existed. It’s amazing.

Ok so recently I read the entirety of Warden Twins in the span of 4 hours (with a break in between cause it was 2:30 AM) and I just had a funny shower thought I'm gonna put here.

Basically, Arceus feels bad about the whole situation, so he gives Drayden and F!Emmet Arc Tablets or something that show the both of them Ingo, Lil' Ingo and Emmet and their misadventures. They essentially react to everything that happens in the fic as it happens.

Drayden is initially very sceptical of the whole situation, rightfully so. His nephews were kidnapped like 3 days ago (he basically got like a prologue vid showing what happened before showing him everything else), and then some stranger gives him an iPad that shows him his missing nephews being adopted by some guy who looks hauntingly similar to Lil' Ingo, with amnesia and who knows where. But he eventually warms up to F!Ingo cause hes actually not that bad at being a dad, is increasingly growing more protective over his now sons everyday (as he should be), and is looking out for them when he cant.

He invites Clay over cause his boys just became friends with Liam who ALSO looks hauntingly similar to Clay. And then the both of them bust out conspiracy boards when Akari reveals that all 4 of them are from the future. Lil Ingo and Emmet make sense, but Ingo??? If hes from the future as well, then is he some cousin they never heard about? What is this???

But they dont really care about that. Drayden swears that Ingo is now gonna be (officially) part of the family if- no WHEN they all return back to the future. Oh and so will Akari, she's a cool cousin to the boys.

This eventually just devolves into Drayden watching all of this like it's a soccer game or something : very passionately. Like "oh my dragons I'm gonna kill the Miss Fortune sisters for kidnapping my nephews", and then cheering like his team won the world cup or something when Gyarados shows up. Oh and Drayden will be so angry he might rip a tear in spacetime in order to kill Volo when all THAT happens with him and Lil' Ingo.

With F!Emmet its gonna be a bit more complicated, since he either remembers the past or not. But if he doesnt remember, then he will be panicking. His brother went missing like 5 years ago, and when he finally sees him he's with baby versions of them??? Why is Ingo a father to two kids who are named after them and look EXACTLY like him when he was also 10?!? 'AM I AN UNCLE??? DO I NEED TO BUY A BIGGER APARTMENT NOW?!??' Elesa is surprisingly taking this much better.

And then when Akari is revealed, F!Emmet is both verrrrrry happy to be an uncle and that his brother is not alone and happy, but at the same time mourning his bank account, cause hes gonna need to buy a bigger apartment if he is to house 3 new kids and like 24 new pokemon.

And then its revealed that both Ingos are one of the same. Emmet is internally having a blue screen of death moment, cause that means that Ingo literally raised him. Elesa is just treating thos like it's a certified Watchmojo top 10 anime plot twists.

But if he does remember, then he is basically just refreshing his childhood memories.

I wanted to add that maybe Emmets and Draydens tablets are connected to one another, but I've already typed WAYY too much. Can you tell that I love the Warden Twins AU?

Not gonna lie this was really fun to read. I love reading stuff like this. This is a really fun idea, i just imagine Arceus making like a YouTube channel like Gamingharry or Ladyoflore or something and just sending it to Drayden and future Emmet with a message that says "this explains everything"

I do need to get back to writing Warden’s Twins, I'm a little stuck with Lil Ingo's face off with Kamado, so I've taken a small step back for a bit to try and figure out how to go about it.

most of these are like. technical and story related. bee tee dubs

ok under cut because i have a lot to say and most of it is TOXIC because i LOVE TO COMPLAIN

listen. listen. i have a lot of feelings about this game. most of them aren't very good. so lets start with the ones that are mostly positive.

i think a thing fo4 did really well was the companions. a lot of their arcs are more realized than the other fo games (despite the fact that 2 of them don't even have full names, but i digress), they have more unique voicelines... and being able to romance them doesn't hurt either. honestly, half the reason i found myself willing to continue playing the game was getting all of the companion questlines and such. i also like how connected it was to fo3 character (like with li, maccready, maxson) and storywise (the institute, railroad, synths), made me feel Smart for getting the references. the way weapons... work? i guess is the best term? is also pretty decent- though the more advanced display hurts my eyes whenever i use energy weapons (which is always because they are the only guns worth using in any fo game)

i'll probably add more positives as i go, but- now time for parts of the game that i don't particularly enjoy... i don't like how many gameplay changes they made. like with the perks and special system (why would they change it. why remove skills?? why start all special stats at 1? the removal of skills really gets me; like, they were a more tangible and easier way to recognize what, well, SKILLS you had and just removing them entirely makes no sense) and the pip boy ui (WHY did they make holotapes go into general "misc" as opposed to having their own "notes" section??? you use holotapes like 40x more often in this game why. what the hell todd) the weapons and armor system irks me too, somewhat- the fact that once you progress to a point in the game in which you are like, unable to see if an armor/weapon is better than what you have because of all of the goddamn superfluous adjectival modifiers. i wish single piece armors were more practical- the mix-and-match nature of the new armor system is... i don't mean to be like, petty, but its Fugly. i know it's the wasteland but, DAMN, my guy's fit is trash! there are too many modifiers to armor, too, i feel. like, ballistic v energy v whatever damage resistance... all i want to know is if this thing is better than this thing, and you're tellin me it is SOMETIMES but not all the times? my iddy biddy pea brain came here to have FUN and SHOOT not to think about strategy in armor. tldr for my technical qualms with this game: they shouldn't have changed allat. it was great and fun as was.

storywise i don't... to put it succinctly, i don't like this game's story. it's boring to me. i don't necessarily care about my son, or my spouse, with the 5 minutes i spent with them during the tutorial and the "hey honey!" holotape you gave me is doing nothing to change that in any way. also, while on the subject of spouses, the game tries SO HARD to railroad (heh heh) you into being the male sole survivor- he NARRATES the damn intro ffs (and replacing the legend ron perlman is a crime which can never be forgiven) AND is a veteran (combat+power armor experience) and nora... is a lawyer? a job in which it would make no sense for her to already have power armor training or experience with weapons. (oatus the power armor ui is fucking ugly and gross too and i've literally never used it outside its introduction with the minutemen because of this) i think the fact that i don't give 2 shits about my son is why the institute is soooooo dry to me. like, why am i supposed to side with these assholes? because my son who is an old man is, what, their dad? or something? (also shaun being the gen 3 synths "father" and you being able to romance a whole slew of gen 3 synths is... weird, plainly put) also the factions are just boring to me. like no flavor at all. i don't want to bring up Beautiful Golden Child New Vegas (but i do) but like... obsidian did the "choose a faction" thing a whole helluva lot better. like i don't really give a shit at all about any of the stakes or factions within fo4 like even a little bit all i care about is my Guys who are my Friends and we Kill People Together.

also this is like very petty and opiniony but i don't like how good the graphics are i feel like fallout is a game franchise meant to look a little shitty

Kim is so inspired to write even while he’s very clearing trying to cut Chay out of his brain, he’s trying to write his feelings out so he can go back to being cold, untouchable Kim

Chay really had been hoping it was Kim. He may have left the next step up to Kim, but he’s still so hopeful that Kim doesn’t leave him behind. He’s for sure getting impatient about it and is planning his next move on his target – sorry crush!

He allows others to see just the surface of everything going on with him, but he tends to be very private about his thoughts and interests. Its not a lack of confidence. I just think he learned early on that sometimes speaking up about everything can be a burden (particularly in his relationship with Porsche) you have to work to get his more internal thoughts

And Chay chooses this! At any point he could put down the guitar pick and answer his friend’s invite, who probably knows something is up with Chay just not what. He’s very tunnel-visioned when he chooses a path, but he doesn’t feel the need to tell anyone else that

Chay doesn’t hide or lie about his emotions and thoughts usually. He just doesn’t always say them out loud. There’s a difference trust me

Compare this gift to Kim and the guitar. Kim bought an incredibly expensive guitar for Chay, but it was to buy his way into the house. There was more manipulation than thought put into that gift

Whereas Chay made that pick himself adding even greater meaning to the gift. Chay isn’t trying to manipulate Kim, he’s genuinely just staying true to himself by confessing and giving Kim the pick as thanks. Chay’s always been upfront about his emotions and intentions with Kim which is very refreshing

“From now on I won’t have any excuse to see your face.” “Can I bother you one last time?” – that’s such a cute statement, plus it also goes to show that Chay gets that Kim is trying to cut him off and will accept it after he says his piece (Chay respects boundaries! I am ignoring his stalking for right now!)

I love Chay’s fidgeting here, very genuine and doesn’t feel forced

KIM’S FACE WHEN CHAY SAYS HE LIKES HIM! He knew but was not prepared for Chay to actually say it

Chay’s rambling about making an oath with himself – he is so good! He is so emotionally healthy & confident! (I am ignoring the red flags about his stalking right now!)

I know some people were disappointed about never getting a ‘real’ kiss, but I like this cheek kiss. Chay’s still young compared to Kim, and Kim holds a lot of power as his tutor as well as how many secrets he’s keeping from Chay. A kiss on the lips would have been marred by that and would have been uncomfortable when looked back on. This kiss works for them, it's sweet and it’s a foundation for the two of them to build on

During this scene, there’s this large empty space between Kim and Chay. Chay stays respectfully away until Kim breaks the divide and kisses him. It was always going to be up to Kim to choose what to do next

THE MUSIC!! THE HUGS!! – Kim is so not a hugger, but for Chay he lets it happen, twice! This is the same man we see bullying bodyguards and murdering people! The duality of man indeed

This ep definitely goes everywhere, but we get a good amount of KimChay development as well as a Macau appearance. I’m glad we got solo scenes from Kim & Chay before they saw each other as it laid the groundwork for the confession scene, very well plotted. Chay being so truthful to himself as well as Kim’s emotional breakthrough was very refreshing

and then for plot and exposition reasons I guess sweeney explains to the audience I mean to anthony that he used to be a barber but then this bitch judge turpin fell inlove with his wife and sent him to prison oh wow. oh and also he had a daughter named jooohaaaaaaannaaaaa. then he leaves and his first stop is fucking mrs lovetts fucking meat pie shop

so mrs lovett is like OOOH A MAN and her voice and her loins are READY to tell him how fucking awful her pies are and then sweeney asks to have the upstairs bc that's where he worked when he was normal. and she goes oooh careful that's where this guy used to live until his wife got stolen and raped and he got prisoned. and sweeney goes no fucking shit lady I'm that guy. so lovett goes "oksies won't tell anyone <3 btw your wife arseniced herself. I am implying that she's dead btw this is plot relevant. oh also turpin kidnapped your daughter"

ok back at the combination pie shop hair parlor anthony plans to elope with johanna and hide her there, and pirelli and toby come in and pirelli goes upstairs to threaten sweeney which ends in death and I think you can guess who died meanwhile lovett adopts toby in the pie shop

oksies turpin comes in for a shave bc he wants to look fresh for johanna and before sween can kill him fucken tony runs in and explains his plan to get johanna and turpin storms! off!!! and then sween is like oh ok so this means that everyone ever should die ! and then he and lovett hatch a plan to kill people and then make them into meat pies <3

Act 2

oksies so everybody loves the murder food and sween built himself a fun little murder chair and offs people on the regular and somehow noone questions it

meanwhile tony finds johanna in an asylum where she's hidden until she marries turpin and then he escapes before beadle can doink his shit in (thanks @resident-dumb-fuck ) and meanwhile lovett is fantasizing moving to the seaside with sweeney and their adopted son toby

anyways tony asks for help with johanna and sween says to pose as a wigmaker who wants her hair and he goes ok thumbsup. but WAIT! he's just the bait for the trap to lure turpin in so sween can kill him

so toby is getting suspicious of sweeney and so he goes mommyyyy I think your boyfriend is killing. and lovett goes sure dear eat your pie <3 and then teaches him how to use the meat grinder and then locks him in the basement to shield him from the Horrors what a good mom. but alas, he finds a fingernail in his pie oh and also sweeneh just killed beadle so his corpse tumbles into the basement so um. jig is up. so sweeney and lovett decide to kill their son :(

so tony shows up at the asylum but johanna BLOWS HIS FUCKING COVER WTF GIRL WE'RE ON TBE SAME TEAM so he has to gun-threaten the asylum owner and then OOPS they killt him. and then they leave.

tony leaves johanna at the barber shop so he can hitch them a ride but then johanna hears the beggar woman coming in and hides. the sweeney comes in and she's like oh I know you and so naturally he kills her. then turpin comes in looking for johanna and just before sweeney slits his throat turpin recognizes him! ah well, he's dead now.

*seth rudetsky anywho* ANYwho, sween finds johanna and tries to kill her but it doesn't work and then he goes downstairs to the basement where lovett is trying to hide the beggar woman's body. hmm wonder why

so sweeney sees this and figures out that the beggar woman was his old wife and that mrs lovett lied on omission so he kills her about it furnace style. and then toby comes in and kills sweeney. wow theyre just letting anyone be a murderer these days arent they
