Ramblings about BNHA chap 382

So we’ve quietly reached chap 382…

…and… hum… has this turned into All for One and Hawks’ private battle? Because the balloons focus on how they are the one who noticed the situation wasn’t as optimal/disastrous as it could be, as if no one else has caught up on it yet… when it’ll actually turn out they had.

Okay, okay, it itself I like the contrast between All for One and Hawks in the page, but it just feels as if there’s too much focus on them, as if Hawks had become All for One’s sole rival.

But maybe it’s just me.

Why the situation isn’t as optimal/disastrous as it could be?

I’ve to say I appreciated how the manga finally addressed how it would have been useful to clone people like Tomura, Touya and All for One… because here we see that Himiko actually did it. Only… their Quirk don’t work. But now come some odd things.

Hawks, remembering how All for One claimed he gave Himiko the tools to bring ruin to everyone, seeing Tomura and Co can’t use their Quirk calls him a liar… when this might be not necessarily the case. All for One never said he would send against them a Tomura’s Sad man’s parade. He might have thought either Himiko would manage to make their Quirks work or they could still win without them.

Anyway, Tsuyu too has noticed the situation isn’t as bad as it could be but… I’m a bit confuse about what she’s saying. In fact Tsuyu says the situation would have been bad if Himiko has FIRST transformed into All for One or Dabi and THEN made doubles of them… but actually Himiko had to transform in Twice, because it’s when she’s transformed in Twice that she can make doubles using his Quirk.

So by this logic she should have FIRST transformed in Twice and make closes of Twice who can make more clone THAN use such clones to also clone All for One and Co… which is what Himiko did… so I’m a bit lost here.

Tsuyu goes on pointing how Twice’s Quirk could create doubles who could use their Quirks, and how Himiko can use only the Quirk of the person in whom she transforms, solely if she loves them. Tsuyu assumes that condition carries over in her transformation of Twice, so she goes and claim she might not love Shigaraki and the others.

And… okay for All for One, I honestly don’t think Himiko loves him, but Tsuyu doesn’t know Himiko at all so assuming Himiko loves Ochako, whom she barely know and is more like crushing about and not Shigaraki and Co with whom she has lived, fought and shared ideals and moments… feels just as a speculation that’s not even particularly nice.

It’s common knowledge that a crush isn’t that deep of a love, and Tsuyu knows Himiko hardly knows Ochako, so the fact that Himiko would feel even less love for the members of the league, paints them as even less than comrades who care for each other. Note that Tsuyu is just offering a theory, not a fact, so it’s possible her theory is wrong, in fact, in a while Himeko will confirm she loves Tomura and Touya as well.

Tsuyu then points out something which I instead think will be relevant, how in an extreme situation like this, a single emotion can change things at any second. I like to think this sentence can also foreshadow things to come, and not necessarily just in regards to Himiko. We know one of the points the story made is that changing emotions can change things, for example, Shouto forgetting his father and focusing on his wish to become a hero helped him to use his fire during the fight with Midoriya… and, even more relevant, in the very first chapter, Midoriya overcome his fear due to his wish to help Bakugo, or Jin went so far as to overcome his trauma due to his wish to help the league.

Still, fearing Himiko will overcome whatever stops her from using Tomura or Touya’s Quirk, Tsuyu believe they must rush to track Himiko.

And here Ochako tries to do something interesting because she tries to think what might cause Himiko to reveal herself in that sea of clones. Why this is good? Because she might be trying to put herself in Himiko’s shoes, which is the first step to start understanding her.

So we move to Himiko’s point of view and how she’s actually desperate because, although she loves Tomura and Touya, she can’t use their Quirks, differently by how she could do it of Jin and Ochako. This is not something that happened just now, she tested if she would be able to use their powers before the battle and couldn’t, and so, even though all the Himiko transformed in Jin clones keep on repeating ‘All heroes must die’ we can see she’s actually crying inside because she can’t ‘become Jin’ who could make clones of Touya and Tomura whose Quirk would work.

I’ve already shared my two cents on why she might not be able to do so in details here so I recommend reading this meta if you’re curious, for the extreme summed up version, I’ll say it might be because, Jin’s Quirk need info to clone others but, differently from Jin, she might have thought to get the info about the people she wanted to clone by their blood, but if All for One, Tomura and Touya have Quirks that aren’t their own, she might not be able to find info of them in their blood. Again, really, more details about it here.

The story goes back to Ochako and how she loves seeing happy people, and therefore this causes her to immediately spot the Twice who’s actually crying instead, the implication being this allows her to recognize Himiko. It’s worth to point out in the past Ochako was surprised to see Himiko so very sad and crying and this pushed her to think at her and consider trying to understand her, so this might be a call back to that, and might help Ochako to get close to her. At least I hope so.

If Ochako were to reach for Himiko without attacking her but just by connecting with her she could stop the Sad Man’s parade a lot better than by fighting Himiko. But, we’ll see.

Meanwhile Hawks is encouraging Tuskiyomi to fight, thinking although All for One is invincible, they still might be at advantage because Endeavor managed trashing him once and All for One is in a hurry to reach Tomura and even admitted it. Now… okay, Kudos to Endeavor for trashing All for One once but that didn’t really do much as All for One rewinded back to his youth, undamaged self and making him lose some precious time as far as Hawks know (it might have done more actually but he shouldn’t know yet). So his ‘thanks to Endeavor’ only works to remind me he’s an Endeavor’s fanboy.

Anyway the group decides to support Tsukuyomi by trying to block the light to fuel his darkness, which pushes Camie to make night sky with her Quirk, while Kamuy Wood, holding a wounded Komori, claims they’ve to stop Toga from making more clones, which is Inasa’s job.

All for One causes a huge blast of light or an explosion of some sort to deal with Dark Shadow as he evidently figured light is its weakness, complaining they’re trying to impose their will with brute force (because he isn’t? I mean, I get he might complain what the heroes are doing isn’t noble but he’s the last who can talk about heroism).

Turn out though he’s now even younger. Evidently the rewinding bullet can’t be stopped and might keep on having him rewind until he’s just a fecundated egg. Unsurprisingly he’s good looking. He sees to have dark shadows under his eyes though so he’s not really feeling so hot and tries to escape, shased by Dark Shadow and Inasa who tries to boost him.

Again, the narrative focuses on All for One and Hawks as if they were meant to become the ultimate pairing… no, okay, I’m joking but it seems as if they’re the only one noticing/realizing things, as if they were mind connected because, again, they came to a realization in the same time, that the situation is perfectly optimal.

In fact Machia just showed up and All for One, thinking Machia is in full control, orders him to flatten his enemies. Only Machia is under Shinsou’s mental control so he tries to flatten All for One by tossing at him a mountain… okay, maybe not but it’s big. Japan’s geography is being rearranged by this battle.

There’s apparently 3 to 4 people on Machia (one seems to have Compress hat but I doubt that’s the case). We’re shown two of the people on top of Machia are Kirishima and Shinsou who, as I said before, has likely brainwashed Machia and forcing him to go against his beloved master.

Which yeah, technically gives them a lot of power but dehumanize Machia, turning him into a weapon the heroes toss in the fight without a care of how he actually loves All for One… but I wrote my thoughts in more details about this here.

To sum it up, what Shinsou’s doing isn’t really heroic and, since he hated the idea his Quirk could be seen as a Villain Quirk, I wonder if this will be discussed. I like to hope it will. Shinsou himself is depicted frowning a little so he might be not comfortable… unless it’s just for him is hard to keep control of Machia. We’ll see.

That’s all though.

There was no trace of Touya and Endeavor so yes, it’s entirely possible Endeavor escaped because he was just trying to move Touya out of the heroes’ way, so that his flames wouldn’t be a problem to them. I hope we’ll go back to him soon but I’m afraid Horikoshi might be saving him for later. Oh well, we’ll see.

Hey! I have this weird situation in my head where Dabi has a crap day and his S/O can tell right away. His S/O asks him like “do you wanna talk about it?” “Do you want to talk about something else to get your mind off it?” He says no to everything because he just wants them to hold him and run their fingers through his hair. Would you be able to write a short scenario like that?

(AN: Ho boy so I definitely wanted to do this, cause I pictured this with the Touya theory, and uhhhhh…. Yeah, it’s sadder than I meant for it to be, I started to get into it while writing so I hope it’s okay!)

        Today is one of those off days for Dabi.

        Where he feels like he’s been hit by a truck filled with anxiety and depression. He always hides it just like he keeps his past buried, but once in while he can’t and he keeps to himself more than usual or gets snippy over every small thing. Even if it’s just bumping into someone he glares at them like they’d just insulted him; what make it all the more worse is what causes it: his past, his memories, looking at the burnt picture of he and his siblings with their mom. Remembering the ‘training’ he was put through, the days he wasn’t allowed to have more than a serving of rice if he didn’t train hard enough to his dad’s liking, then being called a failure the moment his youngest brother had gained his quirk and was exactly what his father wanted as a successor.

        Yes, Dabi has all but pushed that to the furthest recesses of his mind, but even he has a day where the memories of 'Touya’ come back. 

        He comes home early today, normally being home really late but checking the time it’s only 7:33 PM. The League only had a small meeting at least, but he barely paid any attention to it. He considered going out and drinking the night away, but he also wanted to be around his lover. If he went there was also the chance he’d burn the place down after getting into a fight. He can hear them cooking with their music playing off their phone drowning out the sound of sizzling meat. 

        When he shuts the front door they call out,“Dabi, are you home already?”

        “Yeah,” is all he replies, throwing his overcoat onto the back of the couch before walking further into their apartment to peek into the kitchen. When they hear him coming they look back and smile, asking,“Hey, how’d it go? I text you asking what you wanted for dinner but you didn’t answer so I’m just throwing something together.”

        He comes over and looks at what they're making, shrugging before turning and going back to the living room. 

        “I don’t care, whatever is fine,” he says, which they’re normally used to hearing. But this time they furrows their brows in concern and look after him.

        ’I’m guessing the meeting didn’t go well…?’

        Letting the meat simmer they follows him out and finds him on the couch bent over staring at his phone. Tilting their head (F/n) comes into the room and sits beside him, moving their arms around his neck and looking at the screen of his device while asking,“Watcha looking at?” It isn’t long but they get a glimpse; a selfie posted by a man with spiked white hair and gray eyes grinning wide, a girl with glasses and the same colored eyes and white hair with red streaks through it hugs him smiling. A younger boy with half red and white locks and one gray and one blue orbs is pulled in too looking surprised, and between them all an older one with pure white hair smiles with closed eyes. (F/n) already knows their boyfriend’s past, and they know exactly who these all are.

        They’re caught off guard when he stiffens and looks at them with an intimidating gaze; carefully (F/n) let’s him go and sits back, their concern rising when he locks the phone and starts taking off his boots. Now they know what’s bothering him.

        “Dabi… Do you wanna talk about it?” They ask carefully, having been through this with him a few times before.

        He shakes his head, answering,“No. Also it smells like dinner is burning.”

        They gasp and hurry into the kitchen while the ravenette stands and walks to the bathroom to take a quick shower.

        (F/n) doesn’t let up, not yet, although they does let him eat silently while they watch TV. They watches him out of the corner of their eye, nibbling on their food as they consider different ways of approaching this. When they first encountered one of these times they let him be alone because they didn’t know what exactly to do, he nearly burnt down the apartment! But as they continued seeing these moments they figured out a few ways to handle him like this.

        “Dabi, are you sure you don’t wanna talk about it?”

        Nothing, no response, just him staring at the TV but his eyes looked lost in thought. They bite their lip, asking after,“Or, do you wanna maybe talk about something else? Like, something really funny happened while I was shopping today, I’m sure it would even make you laugh!” They smile at him, which soon disappears and they look away, their fingers fidgeting with their shirt. Maybe a distraction would work?

        “Hey, why don’t we watch that one movie you liked? I bought it yesterday and-”

        “(F/n), stop,” he snaps, turning and looking at them with an irritated look. They freeze surprised, and he continues,“I don’t want to talk about it, okay? Just leave me alone, already.”

        Silence falls in the apartment and (F/n) stares at him. It’s weird to see him like this, he’s holding up a huge wall but he also seems vulnerable too, and they don’t like it because they don’t know how to help him… 

        He sighs and gets ready to stand and leave but he stiffens up feeling them starting to run their fingers through his hair. While doing this they gently grab his arm and pull him down so his head lays in their lap and they continue brushing their digits through his damp raven locks. He looks up at them puzzled and wanting to get up and still leave, but… He can’t. They smile softly down at him.

        “I won’t pester you if you don’t want to talk, just remember I’m here for you if you need to vent, okay?” they tells him, brushing a hand down his face but not flinching at the rough scars, even rubbing across them with their thumb softly. “I love you, Dabi… Touya… And I’m sure they miss you so much.~”

        His eyes widen when they say the last parts and he suddenly feels his throat and chest tightening, his lips turning into a strained frown. He turns onto his side and presses his face against their stomach hiding it in their shirt while he brings an arm to wrap around their back and a hand grips the back of their shirt.

        They keep petting his hair and can feel a wetness on their shirt when he presses his face more into it, his grip on their clothing tightening and the (brunette, blonde, etc) is surprised. They don’t stop though, letting him calm down while giving him affection, knowing that in the end sometimes it’s all he needs.

(AN: This came out sadder than expected, and uhhhh yeah, I love Touya theory but I especially love writing angst or sad fics for it, it’s bad… lolAnyways thanks for the request! I had fun, sorry about the end lol )

"Yuta L/n, you're not going out!" Y/n strictly reprimanded as she tried to keep her son still from his position, lying on bed with a cold towel on his forehead.

It was during a Wednesday when Yuta, y/n's son, had a fever that reached over 41 degrees. Y/n felt threatened about this because her son has never reached this temperature. It's too high— and he also stated something about his body feeling heavy. What could be happening?

"B-but... we're about to watch a movie in school today! I don't want to miss it!" Yuta began bawling his eyes out while Y/n sighed at his dramatic tone. Does it really have to be like this? Yuta has to be emotional and sensitive every time he gets sick? This only reminds her of him— the way he would caress her soft hands every time she would tend his wounds every after a tiring day— the man he used to love, Dabi, would appear to be more gentle and affectionate every time he gets worn out... or ill.

"We're going to watch a movie while you take a rest here at home, okay?" Y/n gently tapped her son's side in an attempt to make him close his eyes and sleep. "For now, take a rest. Or else, it would take longer before you could go outside."

Immediately, Yuta turned his back from his mother in an attempt to be more comfortable; and to have a good sleep. Y/n smiled at his actions. Good thing, her son has always been considerate on her hardwork and the way she disciplines him.

It wasn't too long until she heard a notification from her phone— a message coming from Touya.

touya ❣ : good morning y/n. how's ur pretty face doing?

It's been four months since y/n realized her feelings for Touya. Both of them started dating two months ago and so far, he has been understanding towards her obligations as a mother. Most of their dates included Yuta and there are times when Touya would volunteer to watch over him while she's away during her day shifts. Y/n could never ask for anything— Touya was doing his job greatly; as a boyfriend and as a paternal figure to Yuta.

you : yeah, i'm all good babe. thanks for asking. but yuta's sick rn... i dont really have anyone to take care of him and i need to go for my day shift.

touya ❣ : you want me to go for it? i mean, i only work during nights anyways

Y/n's smile lit up as she read his message. Finally! She thought. She could go to work!

you: sure thing babe 💗✨

Few more minutes, when Yuta has finally travelled to dreamland, Y/n left the house, wearing her thick f/c coat with her hair styled to become more neat-looking. Another day for work, she thought.

It's been two hours since Touya arrived in Y/n's home. Using the spare key under her house's doormat, he decided to enter her house that was silent when he went inside. Until he heard a child's high-pitched scream coming from Yuta's bedroom. His instinct caused him to immediately run towards this direction; but what he saw caused a heavy sensation in his chest. Those familiar blue flames that was once his signature— as Dabi; the heartless villain who claimed 30 innocent lives.

"U-Uncle T-Touya!" Yuta cried in panic while his right hand was burning with blue and heated fire. "W-What should I do?! M-my—"

"Breathe." Touya immediately replied as he kneeled next to him, rubbing his back with his huge and rough hands. "You have to control your breathing and your emotions. You have to control it because the more you panic, the more it will get stronger."

Yuta closed his eyes and focused in calming himself down— taking deep breaths and thinking about things that he liked in life— ice cream, Y/n, Uncle Touya, pro-heroes... all the things that makes him happy. Slowly, the fire became smaller and smaller— until nothing appeared on his hands.

"I-It's gone! The blue flames!" Yuta exclaimed as a grin crept on his face. "Did you see that awesome thing on my hand, Uncle Touya?! That must be my quirk, right?"

"Yes, it's an awesome quirk that you have." Touya smiled sadly as he stared at the young and naive child— as if he was seeing his past self; the pure child who was corrupted by his father's evil desires and deeds. It was all fun and games knowing he has an awesome quirk like that... until his father, Enji Todoroki, decided to ruin everything for him.

But he swore to be someone better than him; to be a man suitable to be called a father.

That afternoon, Y/n arrived at her home with such beautiful sight; Touya and Yuta scooped in each others' arms while the movie was left streaming. She smiled at the sight. It was so cute. For a few seconds, she almost believed that Touya was Yuta's father. The young mother couldn't help it but to take a picture of the two while having their peaceful slumber.

"I saw you," Touya spoke, "Delete it."

Y/n giggled as Touya stood up from his position as he tried to grab the phone away from her hands. It was such a cute sight. She was sticking her tongue out while she was trying to chase him. Y/n couldn't help but to feel as if they were all.. what? 17? Whatever, it felt cute, though.

"Yeah, whatever. Have that pic all you want. You can even make it your wallpaper." Y/n got her cheeks pinched by him as he gave her a light kiss on the nose. "I'm going now, sweet cheeks, I'm attending night shift for tonight."

"Sure, sure." Y/n smiled, planting a kiss on his cheek, as she watched his lean and toned figure leave their house. All that's left is her and Yuta. Slowly, his eyes opened to see his mother watching him sleep.

"Mommy?" Yuta spoke in a drowsy tone.

Y/n responded, hugging her son beside her while his eyes still looked sleepy. Seems that the sleep wasn't enough for him, huh? The young lady laughed at this, ruffling his hair, and deciding to ask him. "How was your day with Uncle Touya? Is it better than it was when you're at school?"

The young lad aggressively nodded and decided to tell Y/n the greatest thing that he discovered today.

"My quirk just manifested, ma! I have blue flames!" Yuta exclaimed as he tried to show it off with the tip of his fingers. Y/n's eyes widened at this— it created a tingling feeling in her heart. It was like a slap on her face. Yuta is really Dabi's son, isn't he?

"T-That's awesome." Y/n replied, trying to stop tears from flowing.

While her son was still busy talking about his day, her hands were able to feel something on the couch. It was... hard. She pulled out to see a black leather wallet. Did Touya forget his stuff here? Y/n sighed at his forgetfulness. Well, he's a person, she thought, so he has flaws too.

"Did Uncle Touya forget that, ma?" Yuta asked in a polite tone. "Bring it back to him tomorrow, okay?"

Y/n smiled at what he said. She really raised her son well. "Sure!"

It was night time. Yuta went back to sleep and Y/n was busy contemplating inside her room— walking back and forth; thinking about whether she should check his stuff or what.

It's not what others would think. It's just that it's been two months since they got together but Touya only says few things about himself. All she knew is that his parents are living overseas and he's left alone here. He has siblings who lived with their parents in abroad. Nothing more, nothing less.

Aside from that, it wouldn't hurt to peek just a little bit, right?

Y/n sighed as she finally came to a conclusion to check his wallet to see if there's something that would tell more about himself. It's not like she was nosy. She just wants to get to know him at a better level. He's quite of a silent and mysterious guy himself, which got the young lady curious about him.

Of course, there was nothing new; just few IDs, bunch of credit cards (which Y/n thought was odd because if he had this much money, why would he work in an old bar as a bartender), and a thin wad of cash. Nothing else— until something that was so unordinary in her eyes— fell.

Her eyes widened as she saw that memoribilia. No words could come out from her mouth. Her vision felt so dark; as if it was slowly fading; and her heart hurt so much. Only tears could come out from her eyes. No scream, no words, no phrases— simply, nothing.

"Y-you..." Her fists clenched tightly as her form started shaking— she didn't know what to feel. Is it anger, sadness, remorse— what should she feel first? She began to wail as she stared and touched at this object from the past. Whatever that happened was too painful for her to bear.

"You fooled me... Dabi."

That night, Touya was looking for his wallet. It was nowhere to be found; not even in his car. Maybe he left it at your place? Well, whatever the circumstances are, he was hoping that none of you would be able to find it. Maybe, he'd drive towards your place again and—

His thoughts were interrupted as his phone rang. The caller ID showed Y/n— and a selfie that she sent him as the profile picture. Immediately, he answered it.

"Hello, bab—"

"Don't you babe me. We have to talk." Y/n's voice sounded cold and harsh. She was angry... and he knew it. Touya knew that tone several years ago; and if he hears that, he knows that hell will break because of her wrath.

"What is it?"

"Stop acting dumb." Y/n scoffed.

"How the hell are you alive, Dabi?"

There were some things that you imagined yourself trying at one point in your life that you figured would just be an experiment, a one-time thing that would probably not happen again as long as you got to do it once. It was simple things like eating an exotic dish you’ve never heard of, something adrenaline pumping like bungee jumping or sky diving, or even exploring your sexuality and seeing if you liked kissing someone of a different gender than yours. Just a little exciting tidbit that would have the people say ‘wow, that’s so interesting of you!’ and just be a quick little topic before moving onto something else. Simple stuff like that, you know?

Sure you figured that you’d explore recreational drugs every once in a while but you never thought you would have main access to them by dating a dealer. And you thought that maybe you’d try having a threesome if the chance came along but you would have never guessed in your life that you’d be engaging in them regularly by being apart of a polyamorous relationship.

You were definitely were having an interesting experience in your life currently.

At most you only dated three boys before Touya and Keigo; one boy from middle school in which the relationship lasted up until he went to a separate high school, a nice guy from your math class that helped tutor you but breaking up just a little before your high school graduation, and then your one college boyfriend who would later get his ass beat by your current boyfriends at a house party for strangling you.

None of those three boys you dated had ever made you consider being in love with them. You liked them a lot to be in a relationship but never developed further enough for you to even think about saying ‘I love you’ to them. It hurt all three times when the relationships ended, the worst one so far being the one before Touya, but you never really experienced a real heartbreak. You were sad when it was over but you never experienced that pit of overwhelming sadness and depression after breaking up with someone that you were madly and deeply in love with.

And if it hurts so bad with just one boy you loved, like some of you friends had said, would it hurt twice as bad with two boys you were in love with?

It’s a question that you don’t want answered.

Sometimes you think about how crushing it would be if Touya and Keigo were to leave you, that even the thought of it makes your heart clench and has you trying to control your own anxiety of all the scenarios that run through your head. It’s why you try to be so good for them, you listen to what they tell you to do, you don’t want to give them a reason to break up with you because you’re pretty certain that you won’t handle it well.

You’ve helped friends through heartbreak before but you’d never experienced it yourself to really understand what they’re going through, just that you see how sad they are and that you know that they can move forward with their life even though they just had their heart broken by someone they loved.

If it were to happen to you, would you really be able to pick yourself up together?

You imagine that the more intense the love was, the more shattering the pain is when the relationship falls apart.

You hate to think about it and in those moments when even thinking about it in theory becomes too much for you, you get desperate to wipe away that imaginary and theoretical pain. I’m sure you already know what the point of view of every family member is: Rei won’t forgive him, but she’s also watching as he stones for his past awful deeds; Fuyumi is probably the one that wants to forgive Endeavor the most in order to have a semblance of a normal family; Natsuo righteously hates him to the moon and back, and Shouto is still on the fence but willing to work alongside his father on a professional standpoint. At times, Shouto also calls him “Father”, but only in certain circumstances and very rarely. And then...

Then we have Todoroki Touya, Enji and Rei’s firstborn. 

I won’t be talking about Fuyumi, Rei or Natsuo much on this post; I’ll concentrate on Touya, Shouto and Enji. They are, at least from what the narrative seems to be building up, the focus of the Todofam arc.

Let’s start with Touya, or at least I’ll write how I’m interpreting the narrative here...You can disagree, people have different ways of reading the same text.

He wants his father to go down, burn in hell, HARD. And he doesn’t really care if it takes to kill Shouto, whom he sees as his replacement, or put Natsuo’s life in the crossfire: anything that makes Endeavor suffer is justified. He even goes as far as killing innocent people and being an accomplice and supporter of terrorism, and bringing his family’s trauma and situation out in the public without their consent: one may argue it was correct to expose Enji, but in my humble opinion the approach was wrong. Touya wanted his father to suffer, without realizing or caring enough that his family may have traumatic reactions to the reveal as he did it, or may not be ready for it. He also isn’t doing it out of genuine feelings of justice, in my opinion: he’s weaponising the narration to bring down his father and the heroes.

 Touya, at times, accuses Endeavor of killing the innocent people HE killed with HIS fire, because Endeavor’s grave neglect and irresponsible behavior towards his situation caused Touya to start hurting himself to the point of burning up at Sekoto Mountain, before vanishing and becoming a Villain because of, presumably, all the unresolved pain and feelings pent up inside of him. 

Shouto is saved by the deadly fire embrace of his brother by Midoriya, that agrees with Touya about the fact that the past never dies, and as much as Endeavor will change, the past won’t; Midoriya admits this while saying that the actual Endeavor is trying to change, and Dabi isn’t Endeavor: which means that Dabi can’t fault Endeavor for those he killed and his uncaring behavior towards those that suffered his same trauma.

As some argued, during the war Touya is shown as an ensemble of Endeavor’s worst traits, which is important as it signifies that his behavior originates from the way Endeavor raised him. 

Now, onto Shouto.

Shouto, who we’ve seen being on the fence when it comes to forgiving Endeavor, actually seems to be trying to empathize with Touya during their fight, various times, really, as can be seen by his expressions. He also takes it upon himself to stop Touya before his family reunites in the hospital and opt to stop Touya together, with Endeavor and Shouto as the focal point.

As I was saying...

After Shoto extends his hand to his father in the hospital, and some months (I don’t remember how many, sry) after the press conference where the Top 3 spoke to the public, the Top Three throw themselves after Midoriya, that as abandoned UA, trying to track AFO and his followers down.

And Shouto...well, he isn’t happy, much like the rest of Class 1A: they are majorly upset and preoccupied because Midoriya is missing, but Shouto is also angered by the fact that his father is following Midoriya around instead of concentrating on how to convince Touya to stop hurting himself and others and thus STOP/SAVE HIM. This is what, presumably, Shouto and Endeavor’s goal is regarding to Touya: stop him from being hurt and hurting others with his flames, which will save him and give them a chance to repair the strained relationship.

Endeavor, Hawks and Best Jeanist’s mission to follow and support Midoriya in the meanwhile is failing splendidly: they endeavored (I’mnotsorryforthepun) in this mission because they wanted to compensate the lowering number of heroes active, hunt down villains and find AFO at the same time, all by profiting from Midoriya’s Danger Sense ability. The plan di per se wasn’t that bad, but Midoriya was going too fast for even Hawks, the fastest hero, to follow him; a reminder of why: Midoriya has a lot more Quirks than the top 3, and he was way more desperate than them to find AFO, trust me...the heroes, that also started to include Mt.Lady, Edgeshot, Kamui Woods and others, try to support him from the sidelines, but they are, at the same time, becoming a burden to Midoriya, as Endeavor recognizes before entering UA in chapter 325.

Also, the students mentored by the top 3 try to reach out to them like crazy, because they want to know what the fudge they’re doing and where Midoriya is: Tokoyami called Hawks, Bakugou tried to contact Best Jeanist and Shouto called Endeavor, without receiving exhaustive answers. Endeavor, in particular, doesn’t really want to sideline Shouto, after all they’ve been through, but when he missed the call, he was probably also feeling uncertain on how to deal with Touya, while at the same time worriyng on how to stop AFO and make sure the chaos the country is in doesn’t become worse. When he’s called to UA by Nezu and played a trick by the students who have now started figuring things out, he receives a wake-up call by his son.

Shouto makes him notice how they had told each other they’d stop Touya together, but Endeavor had sidelined him and took it upon himself to find his eldest son and Shouto’s older brother, all while making an exception for Midoriya. I don’t think Shouto didn’t understand his father was also trying to find AFO, but he also didn’t want Endeavor to ditch him and instead wanted to be included. Endeavor seems to slowly understand that the plan he and the other top heroes were following REALLY wasn’t going for the best, thanks not only to Shouto’s wake up call but to Bakugou’s words as well. If All Might, or Midoriya in this case, are left alone with the full weight of their responsibilities heavy on their shoulders, they are going to hurt themselves tremendously. While Endeavor thought that the plan was a good approach, Bakugou clearly says that it wasn’t the best one. Endeavor gives up his phone and looks to be reflecting on many things.

When the class works together to help Midoriya and bring him back to UA, he finally realizes that letting the kids convince Deku was a good idea and tells his colleagues not to intervene, for the students are dealing with it just fine.

We later see him out of the UA barrier with Hawks and Shouto, listening to the citizens screaming at Midoriya to stay away, scared for their safety and mistrustful towards the heroes; not even Best Jeanist and Present Mic can keep them calm. Shouto is super frustrated: he would love to go amidst the civilians and protect Midoriya form their accusations, “put them at ease” like his original heroic goal was. The circumstances, however, don’t seem to be his allies; he still looks extremely relieved when Uraraka takes the megaphone and finally convinces the citizens.

And, here we are to the last actual moment of the STOPPING TOUYA TO SAVE HIM narrative: Endeavor, after recognizing what exactly was wrong with the top 3 plan, looks a bit shocked when Shouto addresses him as “father”. He also look very...sad, somehow: sorry that things aren’t working out as well as he’d have hoped them to go, and that the Touya situation is still unresolved. Shouto extends a hand to him again, by saying that this time they’ll save Touya together. The thought of Dabi’s haunting eyes crosses both of them. Endeavor is probably still afraid that stopping Touya may be a burden too heavy for Shouto when he says, his face a bit obscured, “yes”.

THEORY TIME!

The narration seems to be headed towards the redemption of Shigaraki, Toga, Dabi, Endeavor and mayyyyyybe Overhaul. We know that Shigaraki’s saviour may be Midoriya, Toga’s will be Uraraka, and Overhaul’s rademtion’s factor will mainly be if Eri wants to forgive him.

Endeavor’s redemption’s weight depends on how efficient he actually is at saving Touya at this point and Dabi’s redemption will probably happen thanks to Shouto with contribution from Endeavor. To resume: Endeavor and Touya’s redemption are tied to each other, and Shouto is fundamental to help them both.

How could Hori bring forth Endeavor’s redemption without screwing over Dabi’s redemption, and not screw Endeavor’s redemtion at the same time? I’ll be focusing on Endeavor and dabi here, because I really don’t know how the dialogue between Shouto may be written.

I have no clue. Sorry I don’t. There are some viable options, like Endeavor gets kidnapped or fatally wounded while he fights Dabi because AFO is also there, and could ultimately steal his Quirk. In this case, Endeavor could be alone or with Shouto.

There is also the option in which Endeavor dies while trying to stop Touya from burning up, while recognizing his mistakes, validating Touya’s harsh feelings and accepting to burn in hell.

Frick, they could both die as they burn up, both recognizing the wrong in their ways, but it wouldn’t be really satisfying now would it?  

There are so many outcomes possible, but with everyone of them i feel like something is missing. I also feel like I’m the only one that wouldn’t find Endeavor’s death outrageous because “it’s sweeping things under the rug”, or counterproductive because “it would suck for Endeavor’s redemption arc, because everyone is tired of the redemption-by-death trope”.

Endeavor’s death could actually be the best moment of his redemption arc and what makes it truly valuable, depending on how well it is written. Maybe Endeavor isn’t sitting at that table in his dream because he died, and his death actually helped his family heal and smile, because while he had changed his views in the year before his death, it’s still relieving to be free from his presence. However, Touya isn’t present at the table as well, so really...the conclusion to both of their arcs could be anything. Some may say that making Dabi die would be wrong on an ethical standpoint: yet another victim’s death, that makes victims in the real world think there is no hope out of difficult situations; yet another unfair death, because abusers deserve death and not their victims.

Let me tell you why, exactly, I think, neither of their deaths would be useful; you are free to disagree.

Endeavor’s, Touya’s or both their deaths could make the future of the Todofam very traumatic, because the family wouldn’t really manage to find proper closure.

Which is why I don’t think Endeavor or Dabi will or should die, but they will both live with consequences: maybe Endeavor will lose his Quirk, and Touya may turn on AFO and protect Shouto.

I don’t know, honestly.

Plz. help.

All I know is that Horikoshi will surely try to make the outcomes as emotional and epic as ever, so I hope I won’t be disappointed, because so far I’ve been on board with seeing where Endeavor and Touya’s journey may bring them

Since it was Dabi’s Bday recently I’d like to share some thoughts/ideas/headcanons about him. I hope you don’t mind, I rlly love your blog.

The flowers Rei thought she received from Enji were actually from Touya, because despite everything, this boy still loves his mom. He cannot resent her for what happened because he knows they were more or less in the same boat and she did try to protect him, which is also why I like to think that at the end of Dabi’s reveal video, when he’s done talking, he stands up to turn off the camera and just before the video cuts out you can hear a whispered “I’m sorry, mom” and the screen goes black. The volume needs to be on max to hear it, which is why most ppl missed it.

I saw this theory that Dabi actually does have 2 quirks, which is how he survived the accident and got his scars. (I didn’t quite get the logistics and I don’t believe it but it’s an interesting concept imo.) The theory is that he got his scars because his body cracked, the way a frozen mug would crack if u filled it with hot liquid. (Skin seems too stretchy to just crack like that tho so idk.) This would explain why his scars are so clean-cut and still need to be stapled. Also, his scars look more like frostbites rather than burn marks but idk. He totally has some form of chronic pain from his scars, or at least from the staples pulling on his skin.

He acts cold towards the LOV members, although he enjoys their company after a long time of being on his own, because he’s scared of getting close to ppl and starting to care cuz he knows how it feels to lose everything he cares about. He doesn’t want to feel what he felt when he had to leave his family ever again.

I rlly think Touya and Keigo knew each other as kids; not necessarily as friends but they’ve talked enough to exchange names at least once. I imagine this happening a bit before Enji caught Hawks’ dad, Keigo finding a patched-up kid near a park, asking him what happened, exchanging names and talking a bit, maybe playing in the park for the afternoon, and not seeing each other again. Just enough interaction for Hawks to later wonder “what happened to that battered kid?”. Dabi recognized him when they met years later during the manga time, he didn’t trust Hawks because his general rule is to not trust anybody, but deep down he hoped. (sry this is my DBHWK addiction talking, ignore this)

After the accident, he had to live on the streets and fend for himself for years, so he’s seen a lot of shit after that, which earned him 1) more trauma, 2) critical and cynical thinking, 3) limited amount of empathy and trust issues, 4) the admirable ability to call out BS like the drama queen he is.

And one thing that bothers me logistically is that we know Touya’s body was not made for a fire quirk as strong as his, but, that could’ve easily been solved with support gear? Like a protective costume to cool his body and limit the fire output to only his hands?? Why tf didn’t Enji bother to provide his oldest kid (who showed much promise to become a hero, mind u) with the proper resources he obv needed? I’m kinda salty abt this ngl.

Anyway, I’m done here. I hope you don’t mind me venting out these ideas. I rlly like ur blog and I felt like you and the lil community u’ve gathered here could appreciate most of these. <3

I really love those theories, too! The theory of the flowers actually being from Dabi is one of my favorites. Also the “I’m sorry, mom” hello??? Yeah, I didn’t need a heart anyway, thank you....... :(

Totally agree with the LOV thing. I really think that part of him is just too fixated on his goals to destroy Endeavor that he can’t really care/think about anyone else, but I also do think that a part of him actively tries to avoid people and the risk of starting to care about them. If you think about how he most likely is aware that an attempt at killing Shouto or Endeavor would also probably result in his own death, he might not want to get attached to anyone because what if he gets second thoughts then? Or what if he dies and they then get sad about it? And he just knows that his faked death hurt his family (that whole “thought so hard about it I went crazy”), so him dying would now also hurt the LOV, therefore he tries not to get close so their pain won’t be as bad as it could be?

Endeavor definitely could’ve helped him, but we’re talking about the guy who gave up on trying to reach his goals after like two years LMAO. Just cannot take this man seriously. They definitely could’ve figured out a way. I mean, Dabi did more or less figure out a way on his own. He uses larger attacks right away and then gets into people’s heads as his secret weapon and as a way to take a little break from overheating. Imagine how proper support items could help him. 

Heroes (and U.A.) focus far too much on their quirks and too little on all the other important skills needed for the job - just look at Uraraka who learned some basic self-defense at her internship, which then saved her life against Toga in the summer camp arc. Meanwhile, U.A. only lets them have some weird P.E. class where all they do is just use their quirks instead of being taught more basic fighting/survival skills? Heroes are just weird, and their education is a joke.

311 rant & BNHA rambles!!!

So, I did make this post before, and then deleted it. So I could re-vamped it and when I say re-vamped it! I mean I just added more rambles 😂! So like before I’m just piecing my thoughts together, which make no sense but I’m sharing them!

“Deku was the one who suggested being bait” Yeah he did, and you know what?! That still doesn’t make it ok. I mean it was destined to happen, and maybe they did as adults voice a bit of doubt in that suggestion but as the more experienced adults and Pro heroes you’d think they would know or thought of a better plan 🤷‍♀️! With Deku playing “vigilante” hero though, I’m not shocked it came to this!

Overhaul really does not seem like much of a threat, he has no arms (😂 let’s all thank Shiggy!) and he looks like he could list a thousand reasons for why his life sucks!

The villainness, like girl who are you? What are your plans? Or your alliance? Who do you work with? I’m so curious by her, and really want to know what her name is!

Endeavor’s new name for an attack we have seen before, related to Touya’s name and I just don’t feel too fond of it! I actually really REALLY dislike it! “Ignited arrow” or something like that, I’m sorry it just sounds distasteful and majorly corny! Then again to be fair, I feel like all attack names sound quite corny especially when you imagine them shouting them out 😂! It also seems bit iffy if he was to use it against Dabi/Touya, but meh I’m moving on I’m just excited to see where the Todofam plot will go from here! 😭 please Hori give me Dabi/Touya or Shouto already I haven’t seen them in ages! They’re the Todoroki’s I want to see 🥺!

Ok like we have not seen Toga for how many chapters now? I can’t remember....that’s how long we haven’t seen her 😭 I want to know where she is, like is she with the League again? Gone into hiding? What if she’s been caught? I need to know! Come on Hori I’m getting Toga-itis(lack of Toga content sickness)!

Also I really REALLY want to know, where is Amajiki? Fatgum? Are they alive? Are they well? Because so far you have gave us nothing Hori nothing 😭 I want to know Amajiki is literally primary school me, and Fatgum is literally one of the Pro hero who make it into my top 10! Deku looks so depressed, and it’s making me sad 😔 I really know it’s going to take a while yet before he’s truly happy again, but I can’t wait to see it!

I’m wishing to see Katsuki as well, I really want to know what he is going through! What are his thoughts? Did Deku tell him what he was planning? Or is he left in the dark? What did his letter say? Come on I want to know, I don’t know why I get into these things because I’m an impatient girl I want to know everything straight away 😂!

I absolutely love that Endeavor(and the others) is getting backlash from the civilians, and they ain’t showing any signs of sympathy! However, they’re also actually really pissing me off as well, I mean this reaction they’re having is so realistic but I bet they would deny it. If they were told they were the problem too! Hero society was flawed sure, and the heroes played a part in it but so did society. The leave it to a hero mindset is what led to Shiggy being ignored, which led to him being picked up by AFO. Because if someone just anyone helped him that day, then maybe just maybe we wouldn’t be in this position 🤷‍♀️! I think the number system needs to go too!

I wonder if we will get to see the other parents of class 1A, I really want to see what Kirishima’s parents look like and Mina’s too! It’s a stupid curiosity that I got, and I really want it quenched!

Where have they put that giant guy? Like all of the prisons have been broken, and the most “secure” prison known as Tartarus is down. So like where have they put that giant man, whose name has escaped me 🤔 Gigomanchia right?! Or something like that!

Shoji from class 1A needs to have his mask ripped off his face, honestly I’m going to manifest in BNHA and do it myself! I’m so curious to what he looks like, because if I remember rightly he has faced discrimination for how he looks. Now maybe that’s because of his arms, but I also feel like maybe his face too given that he has it covered! So like what does he look like? I’m so curious! I can’t be the only one who’s curious!

So Deku, Ochaco and Shouto have their villain counterparts set up, but what about Bakugou? Who’s his counterpart? Spinner? Will that be the villain who’ll play his counterpart 🤔 or maybe he’s will be AFO alongside Deku, like he assists in taking him down!

The 2nd and 3rd user’s face reveal, whoa they be handsome but infuriating like I do think the time travel theory has been demolished. However, damn it Hori how ya going to reveal their faces, but give us no name like you honestly be dangling the sweet in front of the child and taking it away 😭!

What does Bakugou Katsuki’s bedroom look like? 🤔 another stupid curious question that pops in my head now and then! Like we did the room challenge, and saw nearly all of their bedrooms but his and Asui’s! I want to know what Katsuki “I go to bed at 8” Bakugou’s bedroom be decorated like!

unfucktheworld - angel olsen, I think losing touya clearly took a toll on him, that was his older brother and best friend, and I don’t think he’ll ever really get over that loss. he most likely feels like he’s alone against the world when in the todoroki household especially since he doesn’t really know shoto, and his mom isn’t really there, and as for fuyumi... she was the only person he thought he could somewhat relate to, his older sister, only for her to turn around and defend his abuser and say he was the reason their family wasn’t improving, I think that treatment and victim shaming really broke his spirit and really showed him that he’s only one line fish trying desperately to swim against the tide that are his father and sister, that his only real ally in the house died the day touya did.

big jet plane - angus ft. julia stone, again I want to point out how this song perfectly encapsulates his sense of escapism. he sees the way his world is, he’s trying to make a difference with his career and all that but still there’s something that’s not giving him any satisfaction in life, and so all he wants is to take your hand and leave, start somewhere new and finally be happy and liberated from the shackles of his childhood, but he also knows that’s not reasonable, but maybe... just maybe having you with him is enough to get him by.

I love you still - molly burch, I like to think as this song as natsuo’s memory of touya. he will always love and remember him, and a large part of him wishes to go back in time, he wishes he was stronger and wishes he could have taken touya’s pain away. he knows he can’t save his big brother anymore, that the past isn’t pliable but he does know one thing, that even if touya is dead that his memory will always live on in his heart and even if he’s gone he’ll always defend his big brother.

pedestrian at best - courtney barnett, he has trouble trusting the hero system due to his up bringing. it angers him to know that even if he was ever to speak out that no one would really believe him. I think this song encapsulates the internalized rage he feels due to the mental and emotional abuse he’s subjected to because of his father and sister as well as knowing he’ll never really have justice for what happened to his family. I think part of him wants to give up on everything but a larger part wants to make his own life, far away from his abusers, he just can’t seem to distance himself far enough no matter how hard he tries because that part of him that holds touya close to his heart also wants to protect shoto from the same fate, and he knows he can’t go away without doing something to help his little brother in some way, even if he’s just there as emotional support.

About chapter 44 of Clear Card (the last one for a while)

After my post with the differences between the Japanese and English versions of Chapter 44, here I come with my usual commentary! Just sorry for the big delay...This one is gonna be the last one for a while, at least until beginning of August....wondering why? Because as I exposed in my previous post, my interpretation was confirmed: on the next issue of Nakayoshi they’re going to publish a short story (without a full chapter), and Chapter 45 will only be published in the September issue of Nakayoshi, out on beginning of August! So the digital release on the Clamp-fans website is set for August 1st.

I know. It’s gonna be a lot to wait out, after such a....peculiar chapter.

A shady Yukito

This is the first time ever that we see Yukito being this serious, this shady, this “opaque”. We’ve always seen him like a naive and happy-go-lucky character, but his personality had a slight development already in the Sakura Card Arc, with his realization of what he really is and what matters in his life right now.  Now we see him acting on those feelings, feelings that made him grow an increasing need to do something for the people he loves. We have seen him wondering what he COULD DO, concretely do to help those people....and now we know. Sakura noticed the very moment it happened: Yukito called forth a spell, which turned into night time a limited area around his neighbourhood. They’re all confused, Sakura of course, but Kero and Suppi most of all, so much that they immediately turn into their real forms and stand in a protective way in front of Sakura. I’d just like to pause for a moment in front of this scene, and take in the loyalty, devotion those two have for Sakura (and she isn’t even the master of one of them!). They knew there was something wrong with that moon in the sky, and they were ready to jump at Yukito’s throat if it turned out he was doing something malicious. Sakura is so important to them that they would probably trust no one when it comes to her safety. Back to the chapter, Yukito calmly says he’s available to explain everything to Sakura, and Nakuru helps them getting a little privacy, while explaining what’s going on to the two guardians, who have gone back to their plushie forms.

And so (personally I was quite amazed by this) we find out that Yukito has been thinking about the possibility of doing something for the people he loves, the only people he has a strong connection to (since he’s got no parents as he’s not even a human being), ever since the end of Sakura Card Arc. He spoke to Kaho about the powers of the Tsukimine Shrine, and got info on how to obtain them. And all of this fits so naturally (because of course it makes sense that Yukito would go say goodbye to Eriol and Kaho on his own, why not, it’s totally plausible) into the old plot that I can’t help but silently clap my hands at CLAMP for including this in the creases of the old established canon without feeling like a stretch. As I said in my previous post, Kaho didn’t seem very keen on answering his question, but in the end she did. And now Yukito thought it was the right time to put to good use what he learned that day. When we saw him going to the Tsukimine Shrine with Nakuru some chapters ago, he went there to sign a contract with the Shrine itself. Now Yukito is invested with divine moon powers, straight from the divinity of the shrine, and he’ll be able to share the consciousness when he turns into Yue, as well as deciding when he’s turning into Yue.

Sakura’s face, throughout the story, seems to lose color. Yes, we can’t see her complexion, and yet the more Yukito tells, the more she grows worried. I’ll point it out now, but save for one small panel (and at a distance), Sakura won’t smile even once in this chapter. No, not even once. Even when, in theory, one would expect her to, because she gained a magical ally. And the reason is obvious: she’s not stupid. She knows, somehow, that when you make a contract, even of a magical nature, you’re going to give something in return. And this is exactly what makes her so unsettled. The fact that Yukito won’t say what he gave in return makes it all the worse. (Jfc I’m so, so worried about this). Another thing that I certainly have to talk about is the depiction of how close Sakura and Yukito are, in this chapter. There’s lots of physical contact, but not in a romantic way of course, there’s a lot of emotional tension going on, Sakura cares deeply for Yukito and Yukito’s behavior is halfway between a devoted brother and a knight who swore his life to protect the people he cares about. I have to be honest, the first 5 seconds of seeing them holding hands like that almost made me jealous, but then I understood why: the intensity of their relationship could almost be mistaken for something more, some kind of romantic vibe. But I realized immediately that nothing was out of place here, and CLAMP were able to portray their relationship in a very direct and convincing manner: they just love eachother like family so much. The “I’m gonna tell my brother” thing made me smile, while at the same time feeling Sakura’s frustration for not being able to “scold” Yukito like she wanted to (and like she did with Syaoran, but see, there lies the difference of the feelings for her: Sakura knows that her brother is the person who’s got the strongest bond to Yukito, and so she relays on Touya to knock some sense into him, while she is the one who gets more affected by Syaoran’s attempts to suicide to protect her, so she’s the one getting “angry” at him). The only thing that bothered me a little is that the “pinky promise” was kind of a SyaoSaku thing, since in the old manga/anime it was such a recurring sweet moment between those two. And nothing, there goes the “exclusivity” of the pinky promise for those two. XD At this point I expect something even more emotional for SyaoSaku, CLAMP!

A new Clear Card

The pinky promise triggers an unexpected event: the birth of a new Clear Card. It must mean that to Sakura, that promise meant so so much. In fact, she hopes that this new card will be able to help Yukito, somehow.

And punctual as always, Kaito detects what just happened. The card, and Yukito’s new powers too. He comments on Sakura having so many allies, while he’s all alone in his mission. Momo’s words, “Do you really think you’re all alone?”, express all the pain and sadness of the white book guardian for the current situation, a situation in which she would probably want to scream at him but she just can’t, and yet Kaito’s answer is like a knife in the flesh: “Always been and always will be”. And, as if on cue, Akiho appears right in that moment, wanting to help Kaito with the dinner. Once again, CLAMP skillfully try to tell us something without using direct words, but rather a “direction choice”: Kaito thinks he’s alone, but he doesn’t realize that not only Momo, but *especially* Akiho too is with him. There’s someone who constantly thinks about him, wants to do nice things for him, someone who’s got feelings for him.....and so we, as readers, can feel even more the absurdity of his blind statement “I’m alone”. The way the chapter ends, with Akiho stating (to be honest I am just a bit confused on how to interpret what she says, as I said in my last post) that she keeps seeing Alice in her dreams every night, and that she keeps getting new powers, with her wand and cards, is kinda reminding us that we’re getting nearer and nearer to the moment in which everything will be revealed, especially with that seconds hand on the watch starting to move again. So that’s it, for now! At the end of this month we’ll get a special short chapter, for which I’m not sure I’ll do the recap & comments post (depending on the relevance of the short story itself), and then we’ll get a break. It’s gonna be long, but eventually the story will be back! Let’s hope during these months there will be some nice announcement, hahaha (and not like the sudden drop of Happiness Memories, which will shut down on June 30th, have you heard???).

this one shot follows the theory that Dabi is Touya Todoroki

           (D/N)’s quirk appeared 3 months after she turned 4. She was Dabi -aka Touya Todoroki- and (Y/N)’s daughter. She looked exactly like her mother at her age, even though she had those bright blue eyes half of the Todorokis had. Endeavor had said that it meant she was going to have a fire quirk, but a body control quirk was powerful and useful as well.

          Indeed, her mom had the ability to control people’s bodies, like telekinesis but only for humans. But, it happened that Endeavor was right. (D/N) was playing in the living room, while (Y/N) was cooking dinner. The child got bored after a while and decided to go to the kitchen to help her mom -she was a lovely, lovely girl. Dabi was working on something in his room -he preferred being in total silence while working.

           The little girl started to help her mom, by putting the plates and glasses on the dinner table. But as she was about to grab something next to her mom, a blue flame appeared, burning (Y/N)’s arm. She instantly gasped and spilled cold water on it, since there was a sink in the kitchen. The blue flames weren’t this easy to extinguish, and the little girl was panicking. ‘’TOUYA ! TOUYA !’’ The woman yelled from she kitchen, making her husband run downstairs.

          Seeing what was going on, he instantly extinguish the fire, cold water still running on (Y/N)’s arm. ‘’What happened ?’’ He asked, looking at it. But instead of whining, his wife smiled. ‘’It’s... it’s (D/N)’s quirk ! She has your quirk, Touya, your dad was right !’’ The little girl was still scared of what had just happened, so her dad leant to pat her head. ‘’It’s okay, (D/N), it’s just your quirk that showed up randomly. You didn’t burn mom that much, the mark will even fade in a short time.’’

             (Y/N) was taking some ice from the freezer. ‘’Yeah, don’t worry (D/N), I’m going to put ice on it-‘’ she couldn’t finish her sentence though, since Dabi spoke up. ‘’You still need to go to the hospital. We’re lucky it’s not really dangerous when it first appears, but I still want you to go to the hospital to check if you’re totally okay.’’ She raised an eyebrow. ‘’Please, go ! I’ll take care of (D/N). But please, don’t simply put ice on it. I’ll keep some dinner in a plate for you...’’

           He did so, and she agreed to go to the hospital, only after asking one of her girlfriends to accompany her. (D/N) was still in shock about what had happened, and he had to be very nice with her so she would trust him about her mom’s state. She felt very guilty, even when she was going to bed.

        The young girl was leaning against her dad's chest. He was sat and she was sat, her back against him, as well. Dabi created a small blue flame with his left hand. ''See ? It's not that scary.'' She bowed her head. ''But dad... you got burnt because of it.'' He sighed.

             ‘’It was all my fault. -But I burnt mom !’’ She started to sob, and he rubbed her cheek with his thumb. ‘’You didn’t burn mom. You only touched her, but you didn’t even mean it. It’s the risk when the quirk shows up, don’t worry. I almost burnt my couch, because it showed up while I was watching TV in my living room !’’ He chuckled, trying to comfort her. ‘’Mom won’t have marks like I do. Even less if I teach you how to use the blue flames.’’

            But (D/N) didn’t seem to believe him. So he thought it was the right time -now that her quirk had shown up- to tell her his story, at least a bit of it. ‘’My dad never taught me how to use my quirk properly, I had to learn by myself. And I only wanted to avenge myself. If I got burnt like that, it's only because I wanted to be a bad person and because nobody helped me with my quirk. I don't want you to end up like this.'' He seemed lost, until he heard (D/N) humming, like she was thinking about something to say.

             Dabi finally looked at his daughter. ''A villain ?'' He chuckled, but he regretted it poorly. ''Yes. And I don't want you to burn yourself, to hate me, and to live on your own too early with nothing. I want you to be comfortable with your quirk without overusing it until you master it.'' Seeing the sad look on her dad's face, (Y/N) didn’t dare to ask more questions.

           ''Just that.'' He did a really tiny flame with his hand. ''I know you were surprised when your quirk appeared, but don't worry. Just do this, or even smaller if it scares you. Just a bit everyday, until you're comfortable enough to create bigger flames. Okay ?''

         Dabi was smiling. So, she smiled back, but then gulped when she looked back at her hand. She focused, breathing heavily. She created a tiny flame -that was a bit tinier than the one her dad did- then turned around to hide in her dad's chest.

        He giggled, rubbing her back. ''I'm proud of you, my baby ! It's great, congrats ! See ? That wasn't terrible. And daddy will make you create bigger flames only when you'll be comfortable enough. Dad is proud of you.'' He kept giggling as she calmed down, and kept rubbing her back. Her mother will be so proud when she'll be back.

Let me just say, chapter 249 of BNHA was a ride. Was it a good ride? I’m my opinion, yes. I really liked that chapter and I think it was worth the 2 week wait.

Some of my thoughts/opinions:

So about Endeavor’s dream, that might be foreshadowing and I don’t know if I’m here for it. On one hand the Todoroki family will be happy but in the other Endeavor be dead or just gone. Don’t get me wrong I really dislike Endeavor but I don’t think he should die, I think he should redeem himself so the whole family can be happy together!

Natsuo referring to Enji and Endeavor rather than dad shows just how much he resents him

Fuyumi is a master chef and I want to eat her cooking

Midoriya finding out Bakugou was listening in on his and Todorokis conversation back during the sports festival was cool. I wish it was a little longer though.

“As far as in concerned, he’s the one who gave me this burn” BRO!! Don’t even get me started on this line. Rei honestly did nothing wrong (except for the fact that she was the one to pour the water in his face). It was all Endeavor’s fault, he pushed her to that breaking point and we saw that she regretted it.

Rei feeling regret right after what she did to Shouto. That made me have so many emotions

That letter from Rei to Shouto was so sweet!! It shows that she loves her family (minus Endeavor because she didn’t mention him) and she wants them to be together again!

The tension in that household is STRONG! It must be awkward for Midoriya and Bakugou. At the same time I think Midoriya feels bad for them and wants to help. People forget that Midoriya and Bakugou might not have had the best home life either. Midoriya grew up without a dad and Bakugou’s mom honestly might have been a little abusive, so they might be able to relate to Shouto to an extent.

Bakugou just yelling about the fact they have family drama is hilarious to me. I mean come on Katsuki, I think they know.

That sad then determined face Midoriya gives proves to me that Midoriya wants to help.

Then he says Shouto is trying to forgive Enji. Which I do believe he is trying to do but that right moment he mentioned, will probably be a while from now. You can’t fix years of abuse in just a few months

Yes, deep down, Shouto is a kind person. But he does have a foul mouth 😂

I honestly don’t know what Natsuo is thinking. I can tell he’s listening in on the conversation but we can’t see a lot of his face. From what we can see and my predictions, I believe he is feeling a little sad. Almost as if he wishes to forgive Endeavor but he just can’t bring himself to.

Natsuo probably has trust issues and issues with letting people in because of the trauma he went through as a child. He lashes out at Endeavor more than the other siblings so he probably dislikes him the most out of the three of them.

As we see Endeavor walking through the hallway we see a speech bubble coming from I’m guessing Midoriya. It seems as though he can hear the conversation going on.

Endeavor’s face looks sad. It looks as though he might be feeling regret. He has stated before that he wishes for their family to be happy again. He’s probably listening to the conversation in the other room hoping that one day he can redeem himself and have the other members of the family forgive him.

So, Touya. Wow. Where do I even start. It’s just a couple frames (is that what you call them in mangas?) but OH GOOD LORD IT TELLS US A LOT!!

So first of all, Endeavoris bringing food to a shrine, Touya’s shrine. Which is sweet, it shows he cares about his son.

So I’m not sure if this is the same in Japanese culture, but sometimes funerals are held for people that have not been confirmed dead, they are just missing. It is assumed they are dead but it doesnt necessarily mean they are. That’s possibly what’s happening here.

If Touya has just gone missing and hadn’t actually died it probably would have been a long time ago since the picture used is probably the most recent picture they have which appears it’s from middle school.

Another reason why I think Touya might have just gone missing is because of the wording. Sure it might have been changed a little when it was translated or that’s just how it’s worded but it never says anything about him actually being dead. We just assume all of that.

I’m not saying Dabi is Touya, but that is what I’m saying. No, Geten is not Touya there are too many things pointing away from that theory being true.

I believe in the Dabi is a Todoroki theory and will be addressed as Touya in this x reader. Dabi is nickname sometimes used by the reader when they're alone.

Your parents had always warned you about the delinquents lurking around the city, always up to no good, telling you to stay away. You know what you did instead? Fall for one.

However, despite the cold and harsh exterior he put on outside, he really was just a huge teddy bear. What sucked was that you knew you wouldn't be able to stay with him much longer. You sighed, running your fingers through his jet black hair. A small smile appeared on your face as you noticed that the vibrant red of his roots was beginning to show again. You remembered the last time he had asked you to help him dye his hair, which ended with you getting dye all over your hands and some even got on your face, leaving a stain for the next few days.

"Touya...," you whispered, pressing a kiss to his forehead, rolling your eyes as his grip on you only tightened. "Touya, come on. I'd like to get some food in my stomach, please and thank you."

"Five more minutes," he grumbled and you let out a dramatic sigh.

"I'll starve to death in five minutes. Touya, it's almost noon!"

"Yeah, it's still too early, Princess."

"You know your dad scares me, right?" He groaned and slowly released you, stretching. You smiled to yourself, knowing that line always worked because he wanted to be your fierce protector. It wasn't like you had to lie. Enji Todoroki absolutely terrified you, not to mention you weren't exactly his ideal choice for his son. The same could be said about how your parents thought about Touya, but neither of you really cared.

"Let's go," he muttered as he stretched, yawning. You stood up on the bed and jumped up onto his back, wrapping your arms and legs around him.

"What's the fun in that? Onward! To the kitchen!" You laughed, burying your nose in his hair. His scent was intoxicating, a mix of burning wood and a hint of cologne. Your heart ached, knowing you were going to miss him more than anything.

"Remind me again why I agreed to go on that first date?" he asked and you scoffed, pinching his shoulder. He only chuckled in response as he walked out of his room, adjusting your weight on his back before heading to the kitchen.

"Morning everyone!" you chirped once you saw his siblings, sliding off of your boyfriend's back.

"Morning (Y/N). Did you sneak in again?" he teased and you smiled, shaking your head.

"I came in through the front door, thank you very much. Your sister let me in," you replied, sticking your tongue out at him, a gesture that he returned.

Ever since you had been in your relationship with Touya, you had grown close to everyone in his family, excluding his father. They knew how he treated you whenever you were around and even Shouto had started to speak up about his father's behavior once he found out he was the reason you were crying one time.

"(Y/N)," you heard someone call and turned to see the duo haired boy, smiling.

"Hey, Shou! How are you, sweetheart?" you asked sliding off of your boyfriend's back to speak with the youngest Todoroki.

"So... When's the wedding, Touya?" Natsuo asked, nudging his older brother, who only rolled his eyes, keeping his gaze on you.

"It's too early for that, but hopefully a few years after we both graduate high school." Touya replied.

"You know he wouldn't be too happy about that. You aren't doing this just to spite him, are you?" Fuyumi spoke up and Touya turned to look at his sister, a smile on his face as he reached out to ruffle her hair.

"You don't have to worry about that. Even if he wasn't around, I'd still be with her," he replied and she smiled in return.

"Touya...," you whined, holding the youngest of the sibling's hand.

"Oi, Shou, you trying to steal (Y/N) from me?" he asked, playfully ignoring you. Shouto stuck his tongue out in response to his older brother before leading you to the pantry. It was starting to become a tradition that you'd made breakfast or lunch, depending on the time you decided to pull Touya out of bed, for them with the help of your boyfriend whenever you came over. It was a tradition you definitely were going to miss.

Even though you knew things weren't going to be the same at the end of the week, you kept a smile on your face, deciding that you were going to make the most of your time that you had left with the Todoroki siblings.

"Why do you seem so anxious, Princess?" Touya asked as he pulled you to his chest, nuzzling his nose in your hair to inhale the smell of your shampoo.

"I'm not," you replied, causing him to pull away and meet your eyes. You frowned and looked away, knowing that if you stared too long, you'd feel like telling him everything.

"(Y/N), we talked about this. If there's something going on, just tell me."

"Dabi, it's fine, really. We should go somewhere fun. We could take your brothers and sister out. Come on, please?" It was your last day with them, and you wanted to spend you time with all of the Todoroki's you had bonded with. It was just a shame that Rei couldn't be there and Endeavor made sure to have security keep an eye on you to keep you away from her whenever you came with the Todoroki siblings.

"I really don't want to go anywhere, doll," he stretched, putting his arms behind his head and resting on them.

"You're so boring. Looks like I'll just go without you. I'm sure Shou would enjoy my company," you teased.

"Fine, fine. I'm going," he sighed, knowing it was worth it once he saw your eyes lit up.

"Great! I'll go round them up!" He watched as you walked out of his room to gather the other siblings. He knew something was bothering you, but he also knew it was best to wait until you were ready to talk about the situation.

You clutched the handle of your suitcase, trying to take your sadness and turn it into anger. You hated how cocky he looked as he sauntered over to you, wishing you could wipe that damned smirk off of his face.

"Did you say your goodbyes?" Enji asked, causing you to narrow your eyes at him.

"You and I both know that if I did, Touya wouldn't have let me leave," you replied. The older man rolled his eyes before holding his hand out. You grumbled as you handed your phone over, flinching as he crushed the device in his hand. "You're awful, you know that?"

"It wouldn't have to be this way if you hadn't shown up. Besides, Shouto is going to be there heir of my company. Touya is a flawed being and needs to learn his place," Enji said firmly, his eyes blazing.

"Do you even realize what you're saying?! Fuck you! You don't seem to realize what good children you have, you bastard!" you yelled, causing his anger to spike even further. "I doubt that any of your kids want to be the heir of your company, especially if they found out about your little side business."

The older Todoroki made a gesture with his hand and the two security guards that were standing behind you came closer. One grabbed you while the other pointed the barrel of a gun to your temple.

Of course, it was terrifying to be at gunpoint, but you weren't going to give him the satisfaction of seeing you scared. If he did decide to kill you, he couldn't claim that your were begging for mercy. You'd much rather it be you than Touya. He had his siblings and his mother while you were on your own.

"Keep your damn mouth shut. You do remember what our deal was, right? If you say a word about this to my son or even try to contact him, I'll blow both of your brains out."

"Fuck you, Enji Todoroki. Normally I wouldn't say shit like this, but I honestly do hope that everything comes back to you ten times worse. Maybe the next time I see you, it's when they're ready to put you six feet under." You gave him a sickeningly sweet smile, making him scowl at her.

"Get her out of my sight. (Y/N) (L/N) is no longer."

Touya paced around his room, dialling your number for the fifth time. Just like the other four, it went straight to voicemail. He was getting worried and anxious. The only person he cared about other than his family was you, and not hearing from you only made him go over the possibilities of what could have happened.

"(Y/N)... Princess, please... I don't know if I did anything to upset you, but please just call me back," he pleaded as the small beep went off to leave a voicemail. "I love you and I'm starting to get worried..."

He then sighed and ended the call, tossing his phone to the side as he pulled at his hair. He went over everything he said and did in the past few days he had seen you. He couldn't think of anything that would've possibly set you off or upset you. He had only seen you truly angry once before and he swore he would make sure you never got like that ever again.

Touya walked out of his room, spotting Fuyumi down the hall as she watered some of the indoor plants.

"Fuyumi," he called out softly, shoving his hands in his pockets as his sister looked up at him. "I know that you and (Y/N) talk sometimes. Did she tell you anything about possibly being upset with me?"

"No, I don't think so. I haven't talked to her since she was last here. She said she just probably wouldn't be able to talk to me for a while and when I asked why, she said her phone was being shut off," she replied. Touya furrowed good eyebrows at that statement. He knew in that moment, something wasn't right.

Because you were all alone when you weren't staying with him, he was helping you pay some of the bills, your cell phone bill being one of them. He didn't understand why it would possibly get shut off when he was the one paying on time every month.

"Hey, is everything okay?" Fuyumi asked, tilting her head.

"I think something happened to (Y/N). Something bad."

"What are you talking about? What do you mean?" Fuyumi was instantly worried. You may be her brother's girlfriend, but you two bonded the fastest out of everyone after being introduced to the family. Fuyumi even considered you as a sister even though you and Touya were only in high school, quite a ways away from getting married to seal the deal.

"I'm not sure, but I'm going to get to the bottom of it."

These like, three totally different asks as I rapidly skiddale between many thoughts.Why do ppl make it seem like Hawks thought Twice was worthless? Did I miss something. It wasn't anything against him as a person, for being a villain. For being on the bottom of society. For being mentally-illed. It was because of what his quirk could do. And what he would do. Twice was worth too much. Which oddly reminds me of Shigaraki's speech at USJ. (Part 1)

What would people do to All Might if they feared his power instead? We don't need another Nemoto. Another Mirio. That's the result of people who don't give up. Next thing. Dabi always pointing out how heroes rush to save the lives of others first. As if someone pritoritzed other lives over Touya? Which sounds like Kotaro saying heroes are just those who help complete strangers while hurting their own families. (Part 2)

And Shigaraki destroying the reliance on All Might, as if destroying the reliance everyone had on his father. That 'one guy whose at the top.' A suppressive force. 'The house that [his] father built.' Almost seems to represent the kind of society that All Might built. Next thing. Something happened to make Hawks go from wanting to be a hero to wanting a world where theres less of a need for heroes. From being a shining light to thinking his back isn't broad enough to put people at ease. (Part 3)

From stoping bad guys to killing a good one. Bc I wanna think that maybe 'defeat all the bad guys' doesn't mean villain, but people who aren't good. Like whoever Endeavor saved him from. Which Twice is probably not. I'm not sure I wanna know what Hawks saw in the hero system. I guess instead of making a new scenario with for that situation only reasons, bnha keeps to certain issues and portrays them in different forms and connects them in ways? (Part 4)

So many asks! I wish I could get the keep reading to work but it doesn’t appear to work on asks for some reason, or it didn’t for me atleast. Long post.

Firstly, I didn’t know people thought that? Do people really think Hawks saw Twice as worthless? I thought Hawks made it obvious that the reason he went after Twice was because Twice proved to be the biggest threat due to Sad Man’s Parade. It was never about his social status or his mental illness, Hawks didn’t even extend a hand out to him for them either, he just tried to give him an out because he thought he was a good person.

As for people fearing All Might’s power, I could totally see that happening if OfA was given to a less than good person. The reason people respect All Might instead of fear him is because he’s on the side of the law and has made it clear that he would never turn his hand against the lawful. If they did fear him, I doubt their would be much they could do but I can easily see him being cast out of society and him going peacefully because he doesn’t want to harm anyone and doing vigilantism in secret instead. Or maybe I’m wrong, maybe he might try to win their favour, he doesn’t seem like the type to give up either. Hmmm...

Also I think that’s one of the reasons why Dabi mocks heroes for saving people. Because they never saved Touya. The heroes ignored a fellow hero abusing and neglecting the Todoroki family (and I think Dabi did try to reach out because I couldn’t see why he would be so bitter. I mean, I can understand why he would be bitter anyway but it would make sense that he tried to tell someone too).

That’s an interesting idea with Shigaraki but didn’t he only start to remember his family again during the fight with Re-Destro? At that point he had already vowed to destroy everything rather than just All Might. I guess you could make an argument about him unconsciously linking to two together but I don’t know enough about psychology to remember if this is an actual thing. I think most of his anger towards All Might would be conditioning by AfO.

I want to know what happened with Hawks too, to change his outlook so drastically. Like, I know people’s opinions change over time and it could just be completely natural but we’ll never know unless it’s confirmed that Hawks outlook changed due to his training with HPSC (though I can hazard a guess that it is). 

It’s an interesting thing to look at how criminals are labelled in BNHA. Even using the word crinimal is labelling as it has the context of the person being labelled a criminal or villain in BNHA as also being a ‘bad’ person. And it was such a label that made Twice lose his job and made it difficult to find work (I think? I really need to go over those chapters again) and so Twice decided to become a villain as it was his only way to survive which caused him to spiral down an even darker path. Then, in the future, you have a hero, ‘the good person’ learning about Twice and deciding that he was ‘good’ person. Sorry for rambling, I’m not really sure where I was going with this, it’s just that labelling theory and other theories like it are really interesting.

BNHA is interesting in the fact that it has different people going through similar but not completely similar experiences and coming out of the differently. It’s really good at showing the duality of people and how just certain circumstances can change the outcome for other people and that’s why I love it so much.

Chapter 34 Thoughts

W-well then...since we’re not entirely sure when the next chapter will be, we’ll have to be patient and solidify our theories! Chapter 35 will be out before we know it, but until then, here are my thoughts about Chapter 34 under the cut!

So it seems we have finally moved on from Syaoran’s apartment (damn!), and Sakura and Syaoran are explaining to Tomoyo what happened with the last card, as is tradition. Tomoyo really is persistent with her desires to film Sakura, and it cracks me up that she’s so heartbroken to have missed the opportunity this time around. She also voices what all of us were thinking in “Damn, it would have been so cute if he was a child in the mind too!”. Can I also say how wonderful it is that Sakura is so honest about her feelings? She didn’t hesitate for a moment to tell Syaoran that she would have liked to see him that way, and of course he was just a tomato every moment after that. LOL. 

Tomoyo didn’t seem very surprised at all about Sakura creating the cards at all. Or rather there was hardly a reaction. Period. @meimi-haneoka said this too, but I agree with her in that it was probably a little unrealistic how little she reacted to the situation. Of course she is observant and maybe figured it out without really knowing for sure, but if she had addressed that, I think it would be a little more acceptable for her to be as nonchalant as she was. But she didn’t address it...at all. All she did was remark on the similarities of the cards to her friends and regret once again not having been there to film Sakura with baby Syaoran. Regardless, I still love her to pieces and feel she is the embodiment of us fans. 

It’s so nice to see Kero and Suppi together again. I found it really funny how serious they were before Kero was like “LET’S PLAY A GAME”. He really doesn’t seem worried at all, but I mean...he probably should be? At least a little? Then again, I’m the type of person who loves to try and push my worries down deep and drown myself in the things I like to help me forget about it, so who’s to say Kero can’t feel that way too? Even though he trusts Sakura, he can still worry about her. But when he says “If something bad happens to her, then that’s our time to help out!”, it’s his way of saying “No need to dwell on our worries. Let’s tackle it as things come and trust that things will be all right.” 

Also, gamer Suppi is so so so so so great. I love that he has really opened up in personality and gets along so well with Kero. He’s not just a serious bookworm anymore who sticks his nose up at sweets. Lol. 

AND CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT COLLEGE NAKURU? It’s so like Eriol to have already planned how she could stay close to Yukito, though I wonder how transferring to a different college at this time of year works. I feel like she’s probably already missed a lot of class, but also will she be taking all the same classes as Yukito then? How did that get managed? Meh. I guess I shouldn’t think too hard about it. It’s gonna be a fun time watching her bug Touya in college! 

Next up is Sakura’s class talking about pool day in P.E. As someone who didn’t experience swimming classes in her schools either, I found Akiho’s excitement very relatable. But the really really important part of this scene is how Sakura actually turns to talk to her and doesn’t even finish her sentence due to the uneasiness she suddenly feels around Akiho. This is important, because it is the first time Sakura has actually felt uncomfortable around her, and we have no idea why. Why now of all times? Has something changed in Akiho that Sakura can sense? Either way, the tense expression on Sakura’s face is very telling and deeply concerning. 

It likely had been a couple of hours since they first arrived at school to when they had P.E. class, and Sakura still looked uncomfortable. This means it was not a fleeting feeling that just came and went. It has stuck with her ALL DAY. And leave it to Syaoran to notice right away that something was wrong. Sakura can’t hide her feelings from him at all. 

When she asked him if he felt anything off about Akiho, it was kind of nice in the fact that she was asking him to help her compare and contract their magical senses so she could try and better analyze the situation. Our girl is really growing up in her problem solving skills! However, poor Syaoran really had his hands tied with his answer. Yes, he technically wasn’t lying when he said he felt nothing, but if he had been able to tell her about Kaito, I’m sure it would have served to validate Sakura’s feelings a little more. Instead, she probably feels like something is wrong with her, and this must be agonizing for Syaoran to witness. However, it seems like Syaoran doesn’t think of Akiho as a danger at all. I think he thinks she is being manipulated by Kaito somehow, and I worry that this will be dangerous for him if he keeps his guard lowered too much around her.

The tense moment was broken for a brief moment by Yamazaki’s ADORABLE comment about Chiharu’s hair, and I laughed out loud when she decided to hit him anyways out of embarrassment. Those two really are cute, and Syaoran and Sakura’s faces were just the perfect addition to that scene. 

CUE KAITO. DUN DUN DUN. You know when Kaito shows up, nothing good can come from it. He’s ripping off Eriol sitting up in his tree, but he’s looking real good in those more casual clothes! Momo comes out to play too, and I love how every conversation she has with him sounds more like an interrogation than anything else. She clearly seems to care about him, like when she commanded him to rest after using his time magic before, but when she showed up to talk with him this time, her words came off like “Ugh...this guy again...” 

Another first in Clear Card was that now we have Kaito actively working to create tough situations for Sakura! He states that this is because she knows she’s creating the cards now, but I’m not sure what that has to do with it. Perhaps it’s because of what Syaoran mentioned before about overpowered magic getting even more chaotic once a person was aware of it, and Kaito is now using that to his advantage. Or perhaps he’s trying to manipulate just the perfect scenario to have her have a specific thought which will then spawn a specific card. I guess we’ll just have to find out. 

He stops time, which is no surprise really, but this time, Sakura and Syaoran can move around freely. Sakura instantly worries that this is her fault, and Syaoran just can’t get the words out to warn her. He looks really pissed off about this, and I don’t blame him. This time, he knows it’s not Sakura and can’t even tell her otherwise. But I’m so proud of Sakura because she seems to figure it out all on her own that this magic belongs to someone else. Thank goodness! 

It’s hard to tell what’s going on in the scenes after that, but from what I gathered, the water in the pool was attacking her and was easily stopped by REFLECT. Some think the arrow things are something other the whirlpool, but the arrows had a sheen to them in the way they were drawn, so I’m pretty sure it’s water as well. 

BUT THEN AKIHO MOVES, AND HOLY SHIT IS IT TERRIFYING. Can you imagine how surprised both Sakura and Syaoran must have been to see that? First, there was probably that initial panic of “OH GOD, OUR CLASSMATE SAW US USING MAGIC”, but I think it becomes pretty clear by the 5 different voices (yes, FIVE), coming from lips that it isn’t her. This may not be the first time Sakura has seen possessed Akiho, but it will certainly seem that way since time was turned back the first time. And for Syaoran, it is definitely a first for him and probably going to stun him quite a bit. 

The mysterious voices coming from Akiho mention again the strength of Sakura’s power and seem to want to obtain it by locking her in a book. It’s hard to tell if they mean Alice in Clockland, but when the book pages sprout from under Akiho and start to wrap around Sakura, it definitely looks like a dangerous situation. 

Since the chapter ends there, we don’t know for sure if this means that she will get sucked into the book. After all, she could still manage to escape, however we also have no idea what the book does and what lies inside of it. 

I must say though that I am deeply concerned for not just her, but Syaoran too. And yes, I know I’m always saying I’m worried about him, but it’s been heavily implied both in the manga and anime that something bad is going to happen to him, and it’s only a matter of time. You might be asking why I’m worried now when Sakura is the one getting swallowed by a book. Well, if Sakura gets pulled in, this leaves Syaoran alone with both Kaito outside AND creepy possessed Akiho. Neither of them have to hide from him, since he can’t tell Sakura about them. Additionally, we know from previous chapters that Kaito can stop Syaoran’s time without any issue. He could have frozen him just like the other students, but he chose not to. Why?

It could be nothing, but I honestly refuse to believe that the heir to the Li clan, whose existence helped stir the pot with Akiho’s sad situation with her family AND the current holder of the Sakura cards would be of no interest to them. Some believe that possessed Akiho is being controlled by members of the Association, and if that’s the case, wouldn’t it just be sweet victory for them to take the Li clan heir out of the picture? CLAMP specifically mentioned Syaoran in Akiho’s backstory, and I feel like it if wasn’t relevant in some way, they could have left it out and simply gone with the “Akiho has no magic, and we’re ashamed” plot idea. But no...Syaoran’s existence fueled it. 

Moreover, we still don’t know what Sakura’s dream about Syaoran entailed. Why was he wearing Akiho’s robes? And his eyes seemed cold and lifeless just like Akiho’s do right now in her possessed state. It’s all really worrying. 

Anyways, we’ll just have to wait until next time to find out what happens!! I’m looking forward to it!!
