Painful Bartylus to non toxic rosekiller my love
Painful bartylus where [pre emotional growth] Regulus was just excited someone liked him but Barty didn’t like Regulus he loved him
And Regulus didn’t love him back
Painful Bartylus where Reggie was not in the best mental space and couldn’t handle all of Barty’s Bartyness, told him he was too much, too loud, too weird even though Barty was trying so hard not to be
Painful Bartylus where the breakup wasn’t a big deal for Regulus because he figured neither of them were really that emotionally invested and they became friends again immediately but for Barty it was just a desperate attempt to keep Reg in his life
Then Evan Rosier who saw it all happen and couldn’t say anything because these were his two best friends but all he could think was how he could do it so much better, how he and Barty would be so good to each other
Evan Rosier who got the chance about a year later when he and Barty kissed on New Year’s Day and then proceeded to not stop kissing
Barty who was so terrified of losing Evan too and Evan finding it hard because he’s not good at emotions but in every way he can, showing Barty he loved him with hugs and handholds and playing with his hair and Evan’s lap becoming Barty’s new resting place
Evan figuring out he’s ace and worrying Barty won’t want him anymore
Barty saying I love you for the first time when Evan finally breaks down over it
Evan not being able to say it back straight away and Barty not minding because he already knew from all the ways Evan showed him already
Evan finally saying it and Barty nearly bursting into tears because honestly he never thought in a million years he could ever be this happy
And because I’m on a roll w it
Regulus finally doing better when he starts dating James, Regulus who notices how it affects James when people call him weird or too much, Regulus who sees how different Barty is with Evan than he ever was with him
Regulus who REALISES.
Regulus who finally apologises.

gabby give me some of your regulus raising Harry thoughts please :) to distract you from wanting to kill urself
anon let me tell you this ask just made me burst out laughing sure I'll give you some of my thoughts
There's the case of Regulus coming into Harry's life later in life which I have written about... but I quite like myself some Regulus being with Harry from the start and that's what I'll talk about.
I don't see Regulus wanting to have kids at first, he thinks he'll never have them and will never want anything to do with them. Though I don't think it's him necessarily not "wanting" kids, I think it's very complicated and kinda twists up inside himself. (though I have written a Regulus who has never and will never want kids and I love that idea too) I think he's scared of bringing a child into this world and raising it, doing right by it. He doesn't think he's fit for it. It's a combination of many things that could possibly change this and it depends on the au or situation.
It could be Sirius and him reconnecting with Andy and meeting Nymphadora. Even if she's not a baby when they meet I feel like being around kids would be good for Regulus. He would still have a lot to work through but he finds himself enjoying "parenting" a kid much more than he thought he would even if he isn't a parent himself. I feel like one night he'd be babysitting Nymphadora and work himself into such a bad panic attack that he has to call Sirius to come and help him because he realizes fuck i might want this and fuck what does that mean? How is he meant to be a parent when his parents never showed him.
I also love teacher Reg (as we know) and I feel like his students would be an equal substitute instead. Being around them would make him think about it.
Anyway! Once Regulus has Harry he is very... stressed about everything. He doesn't do good with punishments and he gives Harry everything he wants which is something they obviously have to work on and James is right there next to him the entire time showing him that is is okay and they're not hurting Harry by telling him he can't have cookies right before bed.
I also don't think Regulus would want to work while having Harry, or at least he's want to work at home for the first five years or before he starts school. He'd want to be there for every moment, not strangling him but he would want to be able to comfort him when he needs it. he wants to show Harry that he's always there for him. Of course, he can do that and have his job and it's a conversation but I just feel like once they have Harry he is Regulus' top priority. Not that he's not James' but it comes out in different ways.
I also think Harry would make Regulus have little tea parties with him, or something similar. Harry would have a little kitchen set and he'd sit Regulus down at a little table he simply can't fit at and take his order. Regulus would give in to everything he wants with the widest smile on his face, and James would take so many fucking pictures of them. Regulus would get all embarrassed but James would look at them all the time he can't help it.
I've been talking for a while, but lastly I don't think Regulus would want Harry playing Quidditch. I know there's the whole argument between James and Reg about what position Harry would be... but if I'm being honest Regulus' vote would go for not on the team at all. Obviously he would support him but he knows exactly what goes into Quidditch and the injuries that could happen and he would want to put his foot down so bad and force Harry to not try out. The only reason he doesn't is because James convinces him Harry deserves to be involved in the things he loves, even the terrifying ones.
Regulus would have a heart attack when he found out Harry got on the Quidditch team at 11, and would want to kill James for being over the moon about it.

Crimsons Rivers thoughts pt. 36
chapter 55:
1. kingsley is mad at lily and i GET IT i understand. but all those people are adults and CHOSE to go on the mission. it is not solely her fault
2. NOOOO!! sybil is so dear to me!! and kingsley broke up with her!!! no!!!!
3. god, i feel so bad for euphemia and fleamont. yeah victors were saved. but their children, their two children, were the only ones not brought back home. i don’t know how i would recover
4. “there was Narcissa, who wasn't just in the hunger games; no, she played the game, and she played it well, so well that Euphemia never doubted she would win.” yo that’s fucking terrifying. i-
5. andy and narcissa reuniting has me crying so hard. their sisterhood is so important to me
6. regulus doesn’t have sirius, so all he wants is james to comfort him. i- i can’t do this
7. “It's like this, that he turns to her, and Euphemia knows immediately, just that simply, that Sirius isn't here.
He isn't, because if he was, that's who Regulus would cling to; that's the only person he ever wanted to cling to.”
okay, um, simply stabbing my heart would have been easier
8. “They all knew only one could make it out, and Sirius wasn't going to be the one who did, except more than one has, and Sirius is the only one who didn't.” 😧😧😧
9. god i love dorcas. she is not lying to anyone they saved by saying there will be comforts, but she is saying they will be safe and everyone there will be kind. i love her so much
10. dorcas caring for marlene first >>>>>>>>>
11. LILY AND REMUS REUNITED!!!! OH MY FUCKING GOD!!! THEYRE REUNITED!!!!
12. oh shit. wait. that was too soon. before the lily and remus reunion, he hears her say that the absolute love of his life is probably dead
13. remus’ breakdown has me in shock. like i’m not even in tears anymore, i’m just shocked. i- this hurts too bad to even cry
14. “Lily does not know much, she doesn't know what Sirius was to Remus, but she does know for sure now that he was something.
Maybe, as much as she dreads to think it, he was everything.”
😀😀😀 you can’t write lines like that. that feels illegal, to mess with my emotions like that
15. i want someone to care for me the way dorcas cares for marlene. she starts a war early to save her life. she’s willing to kill anyone to keep her alive. she will do anything.
16. “"Perhaps if you had considered the impact of the lives you planned to shape into martyrs, you would have realized that this could happen, and would be no one's fault but your own. You put those people in the arena this year, Albus, didn't you tell me that? All the ready opposition to Riddle, and you couldn't foresee this? Opposition to you?"”
get his ass alberforth. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
17. “In all his years, Aberforth has never seen a loyalty and love exist as the loyalty and love between those two boys do.”
this is so sweet if it weren’t for the context of the statement
18. 😀😀😀 wow i hate albus
19. “They are at their best together when they are showing their worst to one another and basking in the relief of being next to someone they know won't really care, or have an opinion on it, or judge them.”
regulus and remus’ friendship >>>>>>>
20. as reg is literally beating lily up he’s like “i love her! she’s amazing! she’s my savior!! 😊😊 that’s why i must try to kill her!!!
21. “It was supposed to be me and you, but Sirius is gone. Come back to me, baby, Regulus thinks, but James is gone.” 😀😀 what a fantastic start to my day
22. lily should have had a gun in canon. this au only further proves that to me. the war would be so short is lily evans was given a gun and told to just go off and do what she wanted with it.
23. zar gave marylily hints in the authors notes ??? 👀👀 marylily??? 👀👀 marylily endgame?? 👀👀🌸🍓🎉
24. authors notes: “lily lily lily my beloved <3 she really was about to blow albus' skull open, soooo sexy of her 🥰” AGREED
25. also there’s 420 comments on that chapter and i don’t want to fuck with that number.

would jegulus have a baby
Hell yeah they would and they’d be such good parents! I always think Regulus would be so so good with kids even if they made him a lil nervous at first. Regulus would definitely say they had to have at least two though because they need a sibling. James would be SO excited and so terrified but he had such good parents as role models. Regulus would be terrified to be a bad parent and I think Sirius would end up being the one to talk him through it. I’m also a trans Reg truther and if Regulus accidentally got pregnant I can just imagine him and Sirius acting so weird and sketchy until Regulus tells James haha.
Controversially, I think James would end up being the disciplinarian parent more often than not. Regulus would crumble the second their kid started getting upset and immediately focus on comforting them. He just wants to give them the childhood he never got and James would have to gently explain that you can discipline your kids without traumatizing and abusing them. Regulus would get less emotional over time when it comes to discipline but James would just be better at it. I think Effie ran a tight ship and would definitely have given James some firm but important lessons when disciplining him. James would 100% being using all the parenting skills he learned from her.
Regulus would sign his kiddos up for ALL the extracurriculars because he doesn’t want them to miss out on anything. James would be hoping for his kids to be as passionate about sports as he is and they’d end up having a kid who does competitive cheerleading. And James would become the most passionate cheerleader dad of all time. He’d be super involved arranging team bonding activities and knowing every single person on his kids team. Then their next kid would admit they hate cheerleading and Regulus would very calmly explain that James loves being a cheer parent because he loves how much their older sibling loves it. The younger one would end up being super involved in the school’s band and James would be just as enthusiastic to be a band dad!

Unfinished Friday round 2
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Sirius, James/Regulus
Anonymous said: Jegulus anon here!! I was thinking of a fic of like little moments of Sirius catching them being cute and sappy and just being a nuisance to them.
A/N: Unfinished means a fic that I just know I won’t finish but which has enough to it for someone to possibly enjoy it and so I don’t wanna scrap it entirely. This will also probably be the only fic for this round!
Words: 735
His best friend was in love. That wasn’t something Sirius hadn’t seen before. James had been pining over Lily for years before finally giving up once he realized there was no use, that she didn’t want more than a very lovely friendship with him. It hadn’t been a pretty realization, but Sirius felt proud of how he could lean into her now and have it mean nothing. It hadn’t been linear.
Because of this, when James started showing signs of having a crush, Sirius picked up on it before it was fully developed. He hadn’t been looking for it, but he recognized the symptoms. Had lived with them for so long, and so when James sighed and smiled to himself, Sirius knew.
“Who is it?” he asked, batting his eyes as James frowned in confusion. When he asked again a few weeks later James blushed. He’d caught on too.
“I’m not telling you,” he said, and Sirius had tickled and begged and threatened and still James had said nothing. It was impressive. And a bit alarming.
“Is it Moony?” He tried not to act as if it bothered him.
“What? No, no, of course not.”
“Oh. Okay.” And then, “Is it me?”
“God, absolutely not.”
“You don’t have to sound so offended.”
James laughed, but Sirius caught the slight panic behind it and couldn’t understand.
He understood now, of course, and he understood only a month or so after he noticed James’ panic when he saw him interact with Regulus. See, while he’d been focusing so much on James’ crush he’d completely missed that Regulus had one, too.
Hmm, kind of gross. And cute. He was fine with it, he realized as he watched them dance around each other. It was too hilarious to not approve of. Besides, he felt they could be happy once they got their acts together.
“It’s okay, you know,” he told James one day, having accidentally caught him looking at Regulus in a way that wasn’t simply friendly. “If you like him, I mean.”
James exhaled slowly. “Of course I like him.”
“You know what I mean, Prongs.”
James’ blush was different. Not simply embarrassment rather than pure vulnerability. Terrified. It hurt Sirius to see him like that.
“You know,” he said when James didn’t reply. “I’ve kissed, like, five guys. I can teach you if that’s what you’re worried about.” He knew it wasn’t, but he hadn’t told James of his own attractions before.
It seemed to work, though. James finally met his gaze, visibly calmer. “Absolutely not.”
“You know, I’m starting to think you don’t find me hot, Prongs.”
He was right about them being happy together, he got to find out after some excruciating weeks of watching them both pine, only it was also terribly annoying to see them be sappy together once they did figure things out. And being the older brother, and technically older than James, he took it upon him to be, well, older brotherly.
Regulus wasn’t as shy about it when Sirius approached him in private, which was annoying because he’d been looking forward to teasing him. But something about teasing him in front of James was different. The kid was blushing.
“Oh, red does suit you, Reg.”
“Shut up,” he snapped, softening only because James was laughing beside him, an arm slung over Regulus’ shoulders and fingertips drumming against his collarbone. Sirius felt an idea forming in his mind; one he would thoroughly enjoy the execution of if done right.
He grinned and settled down beside his brother, maybe too close to seem innocent. Regulus was pretty much trapped between them and visibly annoyed about it.
“Scoot over, you idiot,” he said, shoving at Sirius, which hadn’t been Sirius’ plan but worked perfectly well anyway.
“Hey, be nice,” he said, giving his brother a poke to the ribs.
Regulus flinched away, just like Sirius had wanted, with a noise that sounded almost like a shriek. Something glittered in James’ eyes, but Sirius was unable to see more of his reaction when Regulus decided to tickle him back, that bastard.
“Don’t do that,” Regulus hissed as he squeezed at Sirius’ thigh again, making him laugh, although James had tickled him plenty of times before and so this wasn’t unusual. When Sirius managed to get Regulus off of him he could tell it was Regulus’ own sensitivity that was still on his friend’s mind.

hiiii i am EXHAUSTED and i need to stop being left alone with a keyboard 🥰
anyways tw drowning (not explicit, just like mentions of water pouring out of mouths etc.) blood, and general angst :)
It was beautiful, like it always was, like it always began. He was by the sea, by the old vacation home he and Reg loved so much. Walking in, he wonders why he keeps doing this, he knows what happens, what he’ll see, but he never stops, tries to get out, tries to change anything. Maybe it’s because he wants to see his face, maybe it’s because it’s the only chance he’ll ever have again.
He touches the frame of the painting he stands by, stares into his brothers’ eyes, waiting. The paint starts to bubble and melt, running down the canvas in a disgusting display of murky, colored water. “Siriussss” the whisper comes from increasingly darkening corners “Sirius”
Then he sees him. Soaking wet and bloody, water pours out of his mouth when he tries to speak, Sirius can smell the rot from down the hall.
“Sirius” he gurgles, walking like any movement is agony “the cave..”
Sirius takes a step back, unintentionally, the gaunt, agonized face of his brother terrifying him “Help..” Regulus reaches out, the water on his clothes dripping on their shoes “please Siri…”
Sirius awakens with a muffled yelp, still able to feel the ice-cold hand on his face. He’s shaking uncontrollably. Carefully maneuvering around his sleeping fiancé, he pads to the kitchen and starts the kettle.
“Sirius….” the soft whisper standing out in the dead-silent home, he whirls around quickly, only half-expecting what he finds.
Regulus, in the middle of the hall, blood and rotten water clinging to him, soaking the floor beneath him. Suddenly he’s right infront of Sirius, reaching as water pours out of his mouth “Siri.. Siri please…”
Sirius’ back is pressed against the counter as he tries to evade the boney hands reaching for him, covered in wounds “the cave… help..”
He cant stop shaking, he can feel tears falling down his face “Reg please..” he mutters, begging for these hallucinations to stop, begging to be able to let go.
“Sirius please..” Regulus might be crying, Sirius can’t tell “HELP ME” he screams, water absolutely soaking him more than he already was, and Sirius screams, quickly clamping a hand over his mouth at the sight, dead-ish eyes, blood, the smell of rot
And then he’s gone, Regulus is gone, leaving Sirius shaking and sobbing in the kitchen. James manages to appear at his side, Remus soon following
“I’m sorry-“ he sobs shrinking into one of their arms “I- I keep.. seeing him”
James squeezes him “Padfoot” he mutters into his hair “Pads i saw him too”
so idk if that made any sense but my idea is that Pan taught Reg how to astral project and he’s stuck in the cave, but Sirius just thinks he’s hallucinating with grief
so anyways :) have a nice night <3

The Brothers Black
Tumblr media
Pairing - Regulus Black/fem!Reader
Warnings - mention of alcohol, anxiety, self deprecating (from Reg)
"I'm going for it today James," Sirius said confidently as he adjusted his gold and scarlet tie.
"Finally," James chuckled.
"Let me know again why you waited this long?" Remus asked from his book.
"I don't know," Sirius said running his hands through his hair. "She's so pretty, and funny, and one of my closest friends. I don't want to make it weird."
***
"Black, knock it off, you're making ME nervous at this point," Rosier snapped as he piled whipped cream on his waffle.
"Sorry, sorry," Regulus apologized lifting a shaking hand towards his pumpkin juice.
"What is the issue anyway?"
"I finally decided I'm going to ask out y/n," he admitted, bitting the inside of his cheek.
"The girl you've been obsessed with since second year?" He demanded.
"Yeah, her," Regulus nodded.
"You are really nervous aren't you."
"Fucking terrified," he assured him.
***
I was practicing my transfiguration on a small tea cup by the Black Lake. The tea cup changed from a book to a kettle, to a small toy train. After a couple minutes a shadow spread over my manipulative. I looked up to see it was Sirius blocking the sun.
"Hello Pads," I grinned.
"Can I sit?" He asked.
"Wow, I must be talented," I joked. "You nearly fall asleep when McGonagall teaches transfiguration, but when I do it you're so fascinated you can't stay away."
"Well, in my defense," he said, as he sat down across from me. "You're not someone it's easy to stay away from."
I blushed. Sirius was naturally flirty with everyone, but he'd been extra flirtatious with me lately. I didn't know how to feel about it. He was one of my closest friends, and while he was extremely attractive, I didn't know if I liked him in that way.
"That's kind of you to say," I smiled. I saw something change in his eyes as I beamed at him.
"I need to say something to you," he said, and I nodded for him to go ahead. I returned to my magic, while I waited for him to speak.
"Well, I think it's pretty obvious I have a thing for you," he said boldly. My tea cup was supposed to have turned into a quill, but his words had surprised me so much I now had a cup with a feathery plume coming from the handle.
"So what are we going to do about it?" Sirius asked suggestively as he leaned forward. I wasn't breathing correctly, it felt like I was in a dream.
"I didn't know," I finally stuttered out.
"Really?" Sirius asked.
"Truly," I nodded.
"Well, how do you feel about it? About me?"
"I'm sorry Sirius, I need time to think. This is quite surprising to me," I said apologetically.
His face softened. He was very often not serious, but when he needed to be authentic, he could be.
"Of course love, take all the time you need. Let me know what you decide," he said tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. He left then, and I was in shock.
I shook my head, gathering my things. I needed to go to my place, the library, I did my best thinking there, and I definitely needed to think.
I raced through the halls, nearly bumping into several people. I finally made it to my haven. I moved swiftly toward the back of the stacks, so people wouldn't see me freak out. I pressed a hand to my chest as I panted.
I thought of all the good times I'd had with Sirius. I was closest to him out of all of the Mauraders. He was so different from me, always acting carefree, jovial, and loud. I was anxious, I cared about pretty much everything, and I wasn't loud unless I'd had too much firewhisky. I liked that he was my opposite, but did I like him in a romantic way?
"Y/N," a voice called my name and I jumped. I saw the second Black brother, Regulus. I knew him decently well. We were both prefects, and we both had amazing grades so we were in several advanced classes together.
"Oh, hi Regulus, I didn't see you there," I smiled at him gently. I enjoyed being with Regulus. Unlike his brother, he was very much like me. He cared deeply about his grades, he was often nervous, and he was quiet. Not to mention, he was lovely to look at. Both black brothers were good looking, but I had to admit I preferred Regulus's beauty.
I watched him run a shaky hand through his hair. One of his curls fell into his eyes. Without thinking, I pushed the hair out of his face. He let out a shuddering breath.
"What's wrong Reg?" I asked quietly, recognizing the signs of anxiety.
"I care about you," he blurted. "I may even love you, I have liked you since second year. I know you probably don't like me, I don't know why you would. You're probably dating my brother, he's better than me anyway. I'm sorry I'm babbling, but I had to take a chance. I think about you all the time. You're so kind, and smart, and beautiful. I would do anything for you, just give me the chance, please."
He ended his long rant. His cheeks were rose pink and he was panting. My heart was beating a mile a minute. What were the odds both Black brothers had been pining for me.
"I'm a muggle born," I said slowly, as a way to stall, so I could organize my thoughts.
"You know I don't give a shit about that," he said, grabbing my hands. His curse and the contact surprised me. I'd never heard him curse before.
"Your parents do, and you're their golden child," I reminded him.
"I care so much more about you than my parrents' ass backward opinions," he said earnestly. I smiled brightly at his endearing passion and he nearly whimpered.
"Why do you have to be so beautiful," he asked, and I couldn't contain my smile as it grew, my heart feeling as though it were soaring.
"I'm going to be honest with you Regulus, today your brother told me he liked me too," I told him, and his expression fell. My heart felt like it was breaking as I saw him nod once in defeat, and try to leave.
"No, Reg," I said, pulling him back. When he looked at me, I was shocked to see his eyes had filled with tears. He really did care for me.
"I didn't give him an answer, I told him I needed time. It's the same thing I'm going to tell you. I need to really think about this."
A small bit of hope seemed to creep into Regulus's eyes. He nodded.
"Take all the time you need. I want you to be absolutely sure, even if it's not me. You deserve happiness," he told me.
"You're so kind," I said in a near whisper.
"Find me when your ready?" He asked
"I will, I promise," I told him and he left.
I sat down heavily on the floor, my head in my hands. No matter what I did, I would be hurting someone I cared about. There was no way out of it. I had to do what I truly wanted. It was an easy decision once I thought about it. All my feelings for Sirius were platonic. I didn't think we'd really mesh well as a couple. Regulus on the other hand, I was pretty sure I'd been denying my feelings for him for a while. Now that he'd made the first move, it seemed obvious that I felt the same towards him.
I stood up with a heavy heart. This could be the end of my closest friendship, but it was the right thing to do. I hugged my bag close, as if it were a shield. I went to find Sirius, almost hoping I wouldn't. But Sirius wasn't a hard person to find, you just had to follow the sound of raucous laughter, and you'd find him soon enough.
"Sirius," I said sheepishly, calling him out of his conversation with Moony and Prongs. I didn't know where Peter was, probably worrying over unfinished homework.
"Hello there," he beamed, and I gave him a weak smile back.
"C-could I talk to you?" I asked. He bit his lip and nodded. I couldn't believe I made Sirius Black, the Sirius Black, nervous. We walked a few feet away from the group.
"I have to tell you something," I said, avoiding eye contact.
"Yeah?"
"Your brother asked me out, he said he's in love with me."
"What!" Sirius said in shock.
"Keep it down please," I begged.
"I would have never thought," Sirius said curiously. I almost rolled my eyes at that, it's not exactly like he spoke to Regulus, like ever. Plus he lived with the Potters now.
"The thing is," I began, I was cringing, not excited for his reaction. "I have feelings for him too. I'm sorry."
Sirius looked surprised, as though I'd slapped him. He wasn't used to being turned down, he was all charm.
"I'm really sorry," I whispered. His jaw was tight but he nodded.
"S'okay," he said. "I knew there was a chance that... never mind, it's fine, you can't help who you like."
"Can, can we still be friends?" I asked, and he relaxed at this, a genuine smile on his face.
"Of course, you can't get rid of me that easily."
"Thank Merlin," I chuckled.
"Don't worry Y/L/N, I'm tougher than I look, I'll be fine," he said, and grinned a toothy grin.
"Now go tell my brother he finally beat me at something," he said.
"Sirius," I laughed. "He's got better marks than you in everything, and he's a prefect."
"Blah blah," he waved his hand as if though those things were trivial. "I mean at something that matters."
"Alright," I rolled my eyes.
I did dash off to find Regulus, eager to tell him I cared for him too. I couldn't wait to see his face light up. He had been so dismal in the library when he'd thought I'd turned him down.
I found him, after a locating charm, at the top of the Astronomy tower, although it was daytime. He had his nose in a book, a look of concentration on his face. He was so beautiful it almost hurt.
"Regulus," I called gently, suddenly feeling sheepish. He looked up and smiled, he did it rarely, but it was a lovely thing. He closed his book, and came over to me.
"Hello," he said in a near whisper.
"I talked to Sirius-"
"Congratulations on your new boyfriend," he cut me off.
"Would you stop that! You're always so hard on yourself. I told him that I can't date him because I'm in love with you, Regulus, not your brother, you."
He stood in shocked silence. His eyes were wide, mouth hanging open slightly. He reached down and pinched himself, and I rolled my eyes.
I took his face in my hands so he could see me.
"You are not dreaming, I want you, it was always going to be you," I promised.
"W-wow," he stuttered, his eyes moving all over my face, as though he were trying to memorize it.
"I'm the luckiest guy at Hogwarts," he finally said with a beaming smile. My heart melted and I pulled him by his robes into a deep kiss. I tried to illustrate with my lips just how worthy of love he was. I was going to spoil and love him rotten until he stopped thinking all those negative thoughts.
When I pulled back he looked like a lovesick puppy.
"That was the best kiss I've ever had," he proclaimed.

MONDAY
You grumbled softly as Regulus placed kisses over your face, "but why can't we let them know, Reg? You've been my boyfriend for two years and I want people to know it." Regulus sighed softly, "I know. I want to tell your friends, I want to tell my friends. I want to climb to the clock tower and yell that you're my girlfriend, but..." Regulus sighed heavily this time.
"Is it because my parents are Muggles?" you spoke quietly; Regulus wore a shocked expression on his face, "what? No, of course it's not your fault! It's not your fault at all. Well, it's completely Sirius's fault."
At the mentioning of your best friend's name, you frowned. "What would Padfoot have to do with it, though?" and Regulus rolled his eyes at the nickname, even though you hadn't come up with it, he was still jealous. Sirius's nickname was unusual and all the nicknames you had for Regulus were completely normal. He was funny like that.
"Because he's my brother," Regulus said darkly, "he's my brother and you're his best friend." then he scowled and looked away, but you frowned, confused. "But I don't know you guys don't get along, but why? -" and Regulus turned to give you a pointed look as he said, "that's exactly the problem. Sirius hates me. You saw how he and his friends treated me. First year I tried being nice to his friend Remus, but he ignored me a few weeks after that."
A horrible feeling of guilt washed over you as you remembered a day in your second year where you'd said something about Regulus just to make your friends laugh. "Sirius, your brother's hair is so greasy, are you sure he isn't half troll?" everyone laughed, and James and Sirius often called Regulus a troll behind his back. Even though you weren't dating at the time, you never said anything about Regulus ever again, but you still felt bad about it, and you didn't know what your best friend, Sirius, would say if he knew you were dating his "troll" brother.
"Okay," you agreed, placing a kiss on his lips, "We'll keep it quiet." Regulus smiled, "thank you. I love you." and your stomach churned as you said, "I love you too," and Regulus kissed you again, pressing you down into the - "Y/N, there you are, I've been looking for you everywhere, I - Who's that you're snogging? Why didn't you tell me - Merlin's beard - Y/N, are you snogging Sirius's troll brother?"
Regulus leapt up the chair to see a rather gob-smacked James Potter, whose face was so pale you'd think he'd seen a very terrifying ghost. Regulus frowned at the word "troll" but you talked quickly before anyone could say anything, "we're not just snogging, alright, Prongs? We're dating. Have been, for two years. But Sirius doesn't know, so please don't rat us out, alright?" now it was Regulus and James who looked shocked. Regulus's jaw was so dropped you were afraid it might stay like that forever, and James's face was so pale you thought there wasn't going to be any colour left in it by supper.
"Right," said James finally, "right, of course I won't. Well congratulations on... on... your endeavors." and, rather robotically, James stalked out of the Common Room, leaving the two of you alone, the Fat Lady's portrait closing behind him. You could only just hear the Lady say, "Well, of course they've been dating, Mr. Potter. Hasn't it been painfully obvious?” and silence reigned once again as James’s footprints descended quietly.
TUESDAY
You did not go to breakfast with your friends, waiting in your dormitory a good six minutes instead before going down to the Great Hall at twelve past eight. They'd already saved you a seat. Lily and her friends were sitting with them too as you sat down next to Sirius. James kept grinning at you madly, making you worry that he'd told the others about your relationship with Regulus.... But no one seemed to be giving you any funny looks, and it appeared Sirius was completely fine, so you were in the clear.
Neither of your friends had spoken about Regulus all day, except for Marlene, who complained about being partnered with him for her potions project. Sirius laughed, and you were about to defend Regulus but James beat you to it. "I heard Regulus is actually quite good at potions, you know, for a Slytherin." everyone laughed but thankfully, there was no more Regulus talk until the last lesson of the day, Charms class.
"Look, Marlene, it's your boyfriend. Hey, Regulus. Marls fancies you. Go on a date with her," surprisingly, this was not Remus nor James, but Sirius himself. Sirius had singled out his brother as Flitwick left the class for while to get something from his office. Regulus shot a look at you from the corner of his eye before saying coolly, "sorry Marlene, but I'm not interested." and now Sirius sneered, "but she's a pureblood!" and Regulus shrugged before keeping his head insanely low. You'd never wanted to slap Sirius more. Even James, who'd always been a little mean to Regulus, looked horrified, and was darting his head at the three of you like he was watching Quidditch.
Somehow, everything Sirius did for the rest of the lesson was annoying. In fact, you grew to be so annoyed with him that as you took your time to pack your things, you told your friends to leave without you. The marauders denied his until you gave James a pleading look, and the idea seemed fine.
Regulus was still there too. "Hurry up, Regulus," crowed Snape, who was, unfortunately, one of your boyfriend's close friends, "we're stuck with the mudblood!" even though you pretended not to hear as you put ay your notes, you saw that Regulus clenched his fist under his robes. He breathed through his nose and for a moment you were afraid that you would have to break up a fight, but all Regulus said was, "it's fine, Severus. Just leave without me, alright? Save me a spot at dinner and I'll be down soon." Barty and Snape shared looks with each other before leaving the two of you alone. It was clear that neither of them knew Regulus was angry, but you knew better.
You wove your wand and the rest of the items packed themselves into your satchel before you walked over quickly, hugging Regulus from behind, "you know Snivellous is a rig foul git, yeah? Don't listen to him. It's not worth getting upset over." and Regulus grunted softly before sighing, "yeah, I know. It's just really annoying, this stupid mudblood thing. And I hate it even more when someone says it about you." for some reason, Regulus's words made you smile. He was so unlike any Slytherin you'd ever crossed paths with before, and it made you want to kiss him.
Regulus's hand had snaked under your robes halfway through the kiss, and was now unbuttoning your shirt when you heard a shrill yelp coming from outside the classroom. "Oh my god. Oh my god. James. James. JAMES! It's Regulus and Y/N, it's Regulus and Y/N, my eyes, my eyes, my eyes!" You'd wished you were hearing things, but as the two of you span around, you saw, to your horror, Remus and James standing in the doorway of the Charms classroom.
"Oh my god," said Remus, covering his face, "oh my god. Put on a shirt. PUT ON A FUCKING SHIRT! You stared at Remus in shock as James grinned widely. Regulus scrambled around, tossing you your house robes, which you threw on violently, your cheeks blushing red. Remus rounded on James, "Regulus and Y/N were snogging! They were SNOGGING!" his eyes looked like they were going to pop out of his head.
He shot Regulus a rather disgusted look but James clapped his hand over Remus's mouth, "yes, I know. I know! They're not just snogging, though, they're dating, so it's fine..." and now Remus wore a large smile, "you're dating? Oh, that's really incredible. Congratulations!..." your cheeks flushed again, "yes, thanks, Moony. But Sirius doesn't know yet, so..." you'd run out of words to say, so Regulus said them for you, "we'd like it if you didn't tell him or the rest of your friends." you nodded solemnly, "yeah, it's been a really wonderful two years and we don't know what might happen if -" but Remus was yelling again, "you've been dating two years! How did you manage - is that where you go every time you sneak off at night?" he was grinning almost as widely as James was.
"Yes," you admitted, "yes it is. I'm surprised neither of you chose to look at the Map..." James shrugged at this, "we thought it would an invasion of privacy." Regulus nodded, "yeah, I think it would be." you stood on your tiptoes to kiss his cheek. "Anyway, the point is, please don't tell them, the girls included. You know how much they like to gossip." Regulus gave you a bemused look as James said, "you know you're a girl too, right? And you're the biggest gossiper out there we know. You even started that rumor that Regulus was dating Patricia Parkinson. We were so thick that we believed it! The whole school did, actually." you couldn't help but grin at this, "Well, that was actually Reggie's idea, we just  hope that Patricia didn't actually believe it. But you won't talk ab it?" you looked a Remus, who shook his head, "Sirius would go ballistic." and you snorted, "yeah, think he would, so thank you."
WEDNESDAY
After Remus's encounter, your friends began finding out like dominoes. It was Mary and Marlene who knew now, and it wasn't even their fault. "But what's wrong with Amos Diggory?" crowed Mary, "he's really good looking! He's smart and popular and his family's got money, if that's what you're worried about!" you tried to think about it for a while, but as you tried to imagine it, you  couldn't deal with the idea of dating someone that wasn't Regulus. You looked across the Slytherin's table and shook your head.
Marlene gasped. "Don't tell me you've got a crush on Snape," and even Mary made a face, "Y/N, don't be disgusting. You know he hates mudbloods like us." you scowled at her, "not all of them are like that, you know! And besides..." your drifted off drear "it's not Snivellous. I've already got a boyfriend. Um. D'you know Sirius's little brother?"
"REGULUS BLACK?" shouted Mary, so loud that almost all the Slytherins turned to look at the Gryffindors, you glared at her and Mary shot you an apologetic look before lowering her voice a hushed whisper "you're dating Regulus Black? Well, Sirius isn't going to be too happy about that, is he? Aren't you best friends?"
You groaned softly at this, "yes, I know. So I'd appreciate it if you two were the last people to find out. I'm sure Lily won't mind being left in the dark for a bit..." Marlene stared at u with a gob-smacked jaw, "who else knows? James and Remus? Do Regulus's friends know?" you shook your head, "Regulus's friends don't know but James was the first one to find out, and Remus found out yesterday. Reggie actually almost beat up Snape because he called me a Mudblood..."you giggled softly.
Mary and Marlene made faces, "Reggie?" and Marlene pretended to gag. Mary saw James and gestured to him like he was a waiter at a Muggle bar, "oi, Potter! D'you know about Y/N and Regu -" but you slapped your hand over her mouth before anyone could hear anything else. James strutted over to table, grinning chivalrously, "ladies. Where's Evans?" and Marlene scowled, "up your arse." James scowled, "don't be a bitch, McKinnon." and Marlene grinned, “no promises, Potter.”
"Anyway," said May hurriedly, turning to James in a very businesslike tone, "is it true?" and James was either pretending he didn't know what she was talking about or didn't know at all because he frowned and said what true?" Mary glared at him, "is it true Y/N and Regulus are dating?" and James frowned again, "I don't know what you're talking about, MacDonald..." but his voice drifted off at your assuring look. James grinned and said, "alright, yeah it is. I was the first one to find out, you know! Walked in on them snogging and everything..." you scowled, you had no idea why anyone would say that proudly.
"Yes," said a bitter voice behind you, "but at least you didn't have to see Regulus taking off Y/N's clothes in the Charms classroom." Remus had joined you now, and sat rather stiffly into his seat as James cackled loudly, "I was there, too, mate. They put on quite a show, honest. There's real love in their relationship, if you get what I mean..." but James did not have time to finish, because you did not let him, and had hit him on the head with an empty water goblet from the table.
"Well, there's enough of us who know now, isn't there? So why don't we just tell Lily and Sirius and get it over done with?" this was not James, but surprisingly Remus, who had been quiet for most of the afternoon. The group shouted at him, "no!" and he shrugged sheepily, "okay, okay. Geez." you grinned at him sympathetically, "we will tell them, soon. Just not now. I have to talk about it with Regulus first and se he's comfortable witi so thank you...."
FRIDAY
You knew it was a risky move after James found out, but everyone was in class, you'd just left Potions, feigning a sickness. The Fat Lady gave you a dirty look as you giggled and lead him inside the Comme Room. "If I was able I'd take house points fluking lessons," said the Lady, as her portrait swung shut.
things and chucking them lightly on the burgundy carpet floor Soon, your clothes joined your belonging too, and you giggled again as Regulus inhaled the scent of your neck. You didn't even hear the portrait swing open as Regulus bit your skin softly. You were concentrating far too much on the touch of his hands dancing across your body. You only took notice when you heard a loud yell near the portrait hole.
"REGULUS! REGULUS SAW WHAT YOU WERE DOING! I CAN SEE YOU SNOGGING MY BEST FRIEND! REGULUS!" and you squeaked softly at Sirius's booming tones as Regulus scrambled up, buttoning his shirt, throwing, once again, your robes toward you.
"Padfoot," you said hurridely, drawing the strings, "Padfoot, wait," but it was too late, as the bell rang, the students and the marauders came pouring into the classroom, staring in shock at the scene that was unfolding before them. Sirius had taken out his wand. "Shut up, Sunny," he snarled your marauder's name, moving towards Regulus, who had taken his wand out too, "don't you dare tell her to shut up!"
And you knew it was not just Sirius who looked surprised, but the rest of Gryffindor house, too. Sirius narrowed his eyes in confusion before blinking violently, jabbing his wand at his younger brother, "shut up unless I tell you." and you made a defiant, upset noise Like an angry cat, "Sirius, don't!" but Sirius ignored you, turning to Regulus.
"How can you be so disgusting? I know you're a troll, but you can't possibly stoop so low as to snog my best friend! Out of all the girls at Hogwarts you had to choose Y/N to be buddies with! Did you do it to annoy me? Because if you did, you have! You knew she was my best friend! You end this stupid contract right now, Regulus Arcturus Black!" Sirius was screaming at Regulus, who held his head low and was staring at his feet the whole time, almost as quiet as the rest of the Common Room.
"It's not a contract!" the tears stung and pricked at your eyes as you bexploded, your body shaking. "You thick bastard! We're not just snogging! How can you be so cruel, how?" the tears were spilling from your eyes as you sucked in a breath, you're the reason Regulus didn't want to tell you! At first I didn want to believe it but see it now! We're dating, not snogging, and if you can't see that, or you can't be happy for us, then you're not my friend!" you spat the words before grabbing your boyfriend's hand, "come on, Regulus."
You were just about to leave when Sirius called after you with your marauder's name. "Sunny, wait!" you looked at Regulus before grumbling and turning around, "are you really dating my brother?" he said quietly. You tried not to glare at him as you nodded and said, "yes, I am. We've been dating two years, and if you can't accept that, then you can just get lost."
And then Sirius did the strangest thing. He pulled you and a struggling Regulus, into a hug. Your eyes widened as Regulus grinned, hugging you once more before releasing you. "My brother and my best friend!" he smiled happily and hugged the pair of you again, "that's so sweet! I can't believe my brother and my best friend are dating.... You're more unlike our family than might think," said Sirius to Regulus, who scowled at this sudden change of emotions.
"Oh, I can't believe it. This is amazing! My brother and my best friend! We're going to be a family! You should marry her, Regulus, mate." someone from the right side of the room snorted loudly, and you had a strong feeling that it was Remus, because he covered it up with a cough, but Sirius didn't sem to notice. "My brother and my best friend are dating! Evans, make a note. We're having a party on the weekend, celebrating the theme of love. Invite the Slytherins!"

:Someone Else: Part 2 - Sirius Black x F!Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: I found a second part! Things end better here I promise. (I also made Regulus an entire shit head and I know he wasn’t really that bad canonically, I actually really like him... but for the sake of this story it was necessary)
Summery: Things aren’t quite what they seemed to be.
Prompts: None, but if I remember correctly this was requested because no one was quite happy with the way the first part ended, and I do aim to please. lol
Word Count: 2016
:Part One:
“James, you’ve got to help me.” Sirius was pacing the floor, up and down, over and over again. “I don’t know what to do, I’ve tried everything that I can think of and she won’t talk to me.”
James was laying across his bed, tossing an apple into the air and catching it. He’d been laying there watching Sirius pace and listening to him talk about Y/N for the last hour and a half. “You punched her boyfriend in the face?” He asked Sirius again.
“I punched my brother in the face.” He growled.
Sirius still couldn’t believe it. He had been deciding how to bring up his feelings for Y/N, how would she take it when he told her that he had been falling in love with her all year, but that it had scared him. He thought she might laugh at the thought of that. How could he ever be afraid if anything, especially a girl. But she wasn’t just any girl, and he was terrified. Sirius had never really had feelings before, and the rush that filled his veins had confused him at first.
He kept running from his feelings, running from her, and he’d regret it when he found himself lying next to any other girl he’d used to distract himself. He didn’t expect for her to believe him, but she had to know, didn’t she? He told her things he had never even thought of telling anyone else; how she was perfect and beautiful, and everything he ever wanted. But then he wished he could take it back, would blame it on the firewhiskey that filled him up with warmth, and courage. He meant it though, every time.
But he had waited too long and catching her sit in his lap sent a fire through him that still hadn’t stopped.
“Pads,” James had called out to him, still trying to get through to him. “Your brother is Y/Ns boyfriend. I know you don’t like it but it’s fact. And if you want her to talk to you, you should probably start with apologizing.”
He listened to his friend’s words, kicking his bedpost in frustration. “I have, James! I have apologized. It’s not my fault that bloody idiot has him wrapped around her finger. He’s probably told her all sorts of lies about me.”
Y/N’s chin was resting in her palm. Regulus was bad mouthing his brother again, and it was starting to get on her nerves. Ever since Sirius had punched Regs in the face, he’d only talked about how jealous Sirius had always been of him. Always wanting whatever he had, talking about what scum he was, how he wasn’t surprised that their parents had disowned him.
She never said anything though, just listened. She had been angry at him, so angry she could spit, but it had been almost two months since the last time she had had a decent conversation with him. If she was being honest with herself, she had missed him terribly. Yes, he had punched her boyfriend in the face, which she thought was completely uncalled for at the time, but the more time she spent with Regulus, the more she also sort of wanted to punch him. And she realized that the entire reason that things ended the way that they did was entirely her fault. She could have talked to Sirius, she could have told him that she didn’t want to have that kind of relationship anymore, that she needed to either be with him or they should have just stayed friends. She had over reacted. But so had Sirius. Of course, that was probably only because of all of the boys in school she could have decided to date, she picked his little brother.
And anytime he would so much as look at her, Regulus wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her away. How had she spent the last few weeks putting up with this? She had never really let anyone tell her what to do before, and now, this conversation “they” were having, was the last straw. She needed some air.
“Y/N?” Regulus called to her. “Did you hear me, love?”
She looked over to him, “I’m sorry, must’ve missed it. What were you saying?”
“Hogsmeade weekend is coming up, you should come out with me. We could have a bit of alone time, if you catch my drift.” He winked at her, and tried to lean in for a kiss.
She moved just enough that his lips mashed into her cheek instead of her lips. “Sounds great.” She lied, “I, uh- I need to go to my dorm and grab a book.” Y/N said, standing.
“I’ll walk you.” Regs started to get up, but she placed her hand on his shoulder to stop him.
“It’s alright, sweetness. Stay here with your friends, I’ll be okay.” She pecked his forehead and walked off, letting out a long sigh.
Y/N almost couldn’t remember the last time she had space to breathe, Regulus had insisted on accompanying her everywhere, even standing outside of the lavatory to wait for her. She felt like her freedom was slipping through her fingers.
Y/N never came back down from her dorm, afraid that she might run into her boyfriend again. As the afternoon faded into evening, Y/N decided that it would be alright to go down to the common room. Just as she had hoped, all of her friends were sitting around, taking over the best seats in the entire room.
“Some things never change I see.” She said, watching for reactions as her voice drifted around the huddled group. Five heads snapped up to look at her, but she was only looking at one of them.
Sirius jumped up, as if he wanted to run to her, but stayed where he was, letting Remus scoop her up into his arms instead. “I can’t tell you how nice it is to see you all!” Y/N smiled widely as Remus set her back down on her feet.
“It’s about time you came to your senses!” James said, quirking his brow at her.
Lily’s green eyes looked over her face, like she could read all that was hiding there. “Or have you?”
“Leave the girl alone, mates! She’s here with us again, that’s all that matters.” Remus cheered, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
Y/N had known Remus the longest, had been closest to him, before things had happened with Sirius. He was like a big brother to her and next to Sirius, she had missed him most. “Merlin, I’ve missed you all.” Remus sat down, and she sat in his lap, kicking her feet over into James and Lily’s laps, happily relaxed for the first time in weeks.
Sirius watched her, his breath catching in his throat when she laughed, heart beating faster when she smiled. He wanted to believe that he had caught her looking at him, every now and again when she thought he wasn’t looking, but he didn’t want to get his hopes up.
Y/N had been spending so much more time with her friends and less time with her boyfriend. Sirius was freaking out, just a little bit.
“Really mate, you should calm down. It’s just Y/N.”
He had been pacing his dorm room again, but that had become all too normal for him lately. But at that absurd request, he found himself taking Remus by the shoulders, staring right into his eyes. “I don’t even know what those words mean anymore, Moony.”
“Why don’t you try to talk to her?”
James cut in then, slinging his arm around Sirius. “Good question, why don’t you talk to her Pads? Oh wait, you’re afraid she still hates you because she’s still dating your brother. Mostly ignoring, but still dating.”
Sirius shrugged James’ arm off him and moved away to continue pacing, throwing his hands up in defeat. “None of you are helping me, you’re all absolutely useless.”
“Well why don’t you just break up with him?” Lily asked, glancing up at Y/N from the book in her lap.
She sighed, “I dunno, Lils. It’s all just one big mess. He wasn’t always so bad, y’know. Everything was working out really well until Sirius punched him in the nose. Now all he ever wants to do is bad mouth him, or snog… and he asked me to Hogsmeade next weekend.” Y/N scrunched up her nose, adding “I think he wants a shag, but I very much do not want to sleep with him.”
Lily didn’t look up when she responded this time, “Is that because you’ve already slept with his brother, or because you still want to.”
Y/N gasped as heat rose to her cheeks at her dormmates suggestion, “You’re absolutely disgusting! First of all, yes it would be a bit weird to shag Regulus considering the relationship I had with Sirius, but it’s not like that anymore.” She attempted to defend herself.
“Then can you please explain why you’re always looking at him but still haven’t spoken to him?”
“-I see the way he looks at you, love. He might not think so, but I do.” Regulus sneered. “He’s never satisfied with anything, always wants what I’ve got. It’s a pity really.”
That was it, Y/N couldn’t take another word. “Will you SHUT UP!” She screeched as she pushed herself up from her spot next to Regulus. She didn’t even care that the entirety of the Great Hall was staring at her. “Regulus Black, I am getting so tired of you talking about Sirius this way!”
“You’re really going to defend him,” He glared, “after everything he’s done to you?”
Before she could stop herself, her hand was across his face, a red handprint left in its place. “It is none of your business, what happens between me and Sirius.” His grey eyes were fierce, angry as he watched her, unable to speak. “Dating you was a mistake, a horrible mistake. You’re the most awful person I ever met, filled to the brim with jealousy and pettiness. I never want to see you again!”
And Regulus was on his feet, snatching up her arm, gripping it hard. “How dare you try and embarrass me in front of the entire school.” His voice was dark and low, barely reaching her ears. “You think that you’re going to get out of this so easily, you had better think again.” He raised his hand up to slap her, but before his hand came in contact with her face, another hand was firmly grasped around his wrist.
Sirius was standing before her, chest rising as he breathed, Y/N had never seen him so angry. “I’d advise you let her go, brother.” Sirius growled. Regulus released you, raising both hands in the air in surrender. “Moony, please escort this fine lady to the common room, Wormtail, Prongs, and I have a lesson to teach this bloke.”
Y/N pressed herself into Remus’s warm body, shivering from the excitement. Her eyes locked with Sirius’s before she let herself be carried away.
“But what if he gets hurt?” She asked, trying to stay relaxed as Remus held onto her.
He shushed her, running his hand over her hair to try and calm her. “He’s been fighting with that tosser his whole life, and he’s got the other two backing him up. I’d honestly be more worried about him getting detention.”
The portrait swung open, and at the sound she looked around Remus’s head to find the James and Peter helping Sirius limp in.
“Oh thank Merlin,” she sighed, racing to him. His lip was bleeding, eye starting to bruise and he was holding his ribs, but she flung herself on him, wrapping herself around him.
She had knocked the air out of him, quite literally, but he enjoyed the feeling of her holding him again.
“You big idiot, if you ever so much as look at another girl again I’m going to turn you into a dog… forever.”
Sirius buried his bruising face into her hair. “I love you too, Y/N.”

Eve, I LOVE binging your masterlist. I was wondering if I could request a short lil story where someone reminds Jules that since Remus + Sirius got married, then Sirius and Reg are his brothers now too and Jules gets really excited about having TWO more older brothers after Coops' wedding? If not, totally fine!! Have a great year!!
Part 2 of the Coops Wedding series! It’s finally here after my computer was possessed and deleted the first version--this one is just over 4k words, so I hope that makes up for the delay! Sweater Weather credit goes to @lumosinlove <3
Preparations II Part 1
Remus had never been much of a dancer—despite his speed on the ice, he had two left feet and only the barest hint of rhythm. However, dancing at his wedding was a different story.
Sirius twirled him in a small circle, smiling from ear-to-ear as their friends and family spun around them to the beat blasting through the speakers. They still had three hours until sunset, and Remus was planning on spending every second of it with Sirius’ hand in his own. He pulled him in for another kiss—our tenth today? Twentieth? One hundredth? Who cares—and pulled away with a laugh as Jules and Katie bumped into the backs of his thighs.
“Watch it!” he called, ruffling Jules’ hair as they passed in a dramatic tango. Katie shrieked with giggles as Dumo swept her into his arms, spinning her around with a broad smile. Hope took Jules’ hands while Phil Collins began to sing about love, happiness, and everything Remus was already holding in his arms.
“Hey!” Sirius said over the music, giving Remus a squeeze.
“What?”
“I love you!”
“I hope so!” Remus laughed, spinning Sirius under his arm before reeling him in to bump their noses. “Not bad for a wedding we planned in six weeks, eh?”
Sirius shook his head, grinning. “We were engaged for ten months. How did we put that off for so long?”
“Because we’re busy all the fucking time.”
“We’re not going to be busy for three whole months,” Sirius said giddily as he picked Remus up a few inches with ease. He paused for a moment, scanning his face as if he was trying to memorize it.
“What’re you thinking about?” The were close enough that Remus hardly had to raise his voice above a murmur.
“We get to do this every day for the rest of our lives.”
His words hit Remus like a semitruck of affection and tears prickled his eyes as he leaned down for a kiss; Sirius set him down to kiss him properly, hands gently bracketing his jaw. “You are the most incredible person,” Remus said against his lips. “How the hell did I get so lucky?”
“I could ask you the same.” Sirius smiled and rested their foreheads together. “Come on, I think Celeste wants to cut the cake soon.”
Remus looked over at the folding table on the other side of the dance floor and stifled a laugh; Celeste, in her pretty blue party dress, was adjusting the cake by millimeters and glanced at her watch every few seconds, as if she was afraid people were going to leave. “I’m dying to know what she eventually decided on for the flavors.”
Sirius hummed his agreement and pulled Remus along by the hand—they didn’t even have to say anything before the rest of the small crowd followed them and gathered around the table. “Wait, wait, wait!” Celeste gasped, taking her phone out of Dumo’s pocket. After a few seconds of quiet, she nodded and centered it on them. “D’accord.”
“Ready?” Remus set his hand on top of Sirius’ and the hilt of the knife, pushing slowly down as it cut through the white frosting in a smooth glide. It was perfectly baked; not a single crumb stuck to the blade as they pulled it out.
“Here we go,” Sirius muttered as they took the first piece out. “Vanilla!”
“Orange, actually,” Celeste said, beaming. “The next layer is chocolate.”
“Celeste.” Remus gave her a tight hug before passing her along to Sirius, who bent down so she could kiss his cheek.
“Merci, maman,” he said quietly. “C’est parfait.”
“Surprise!” She did little jazz hands before handing them two forks from the end of the table. “Oh, this is so exciting. You have to try it, I don’t know if it’s good. I’ve never made an orange cake before.”
“Hurry up, Cap, we’re hungry!” Logan called from the back of the crowd. Sirius pulled a face at him and carefully slid the piece onto a paper plate before linking his elbow with Remus’.
Remus took a forkful of the cake and held it to Sirius’ mouth—just as he went to eat it, Remus scooted it to the side. “Ope, a little to the left, love.”
“Remus.”
“Oh, you almost had it! Not quite that far.” He could hear Jules giggling and grinned, moving it two inches to the right as Sirius tried to get it a third time.
“Remus!”
“What? It’s not my fault you can’t catch a fork!”
Sirius finally grabbed his elbow and held it in place to get the cake into his mouth, narrowing his eyes at Remus. “Only you would be mean to me on our wedding day.”
“I’m not being mean.” Remus kissed his nose. “Just keeping things interesting.”
“Yeah, yeah, alright.” Sirius got his own bit of cake and held it up. “Close your eyes, sweetheart.”
The second his eyes shut he regretted his decision, but before he could shout a full paper plate of cake smacked into his face with a splat. Everyone gasped, then burst out laughing as the plate fell back down onto the table. Remus slowly wiped frosting from his eyes, flicking it down onto the grass. “That was mean.”
“That was payback,” Sirius corrected.
“See, I would believe you, except I know you’ve been planning to do that for at least three days.”
“Honestly, I’m surprised you didn’t do it first,”
“C’mere, you.” Remus reached half-blindly for his tie, pulling him in for a sugary kiss and feeling around with his other hand for the plate. He pulled away and, before Sirius could open his eyes, smushed the leftover cake right onto his forehead.
Sirius licked his lips. “Celeste, the cake is fantastic. Do you think it’ll moisturize?”
She was laughing too hard to respond, but she blew him a kiss in between drying her eyes. Remus took a napkin of his own and wiped his face off, licking as much of it off his hands as he could. “Oh, please don’t wait for us to clean up,” he said, motioning the still-laughing crowd forward. “We’ll be here for a while.”
“Whose fault is that?” Sirius teased.
“Yours!”
They ended up ducking into the kitchen to wash up while Dumo and Celeste passed out slices of cake. “I hope there will be some left over for us,” Sirius said as Remus washed the crumbly frosting from his hair. “From the little I got, it was amazing.”
“Yeah, she nailed the orange flavor.” Remus leaned on the front of the sink, watching people mill around or return to the dance floor for one more song before enjoying their cake. The buzz of their mingled voices dripped with joy and he smiled to himself, soaking in the feeling of his family’s happiness.
Warm arms encircled his waist as Sirius’ chin rested on his shoulder. They said nothing and waited in utter silence until Remus laced their fingers together and headed back out into the summer sunshine.
----------------------------
An hour later, a dozen mismatched plates of food laid decimated on the folding table with a quarter of a wedding cake left as James headed toward the dance floor alone, clutching a piece of paper. He stopped just in front of Remus and Sirius’ table and winked at them.
“Hey, everyone. If you don’t know me, which I find difficult to believe for a number of reasons, I’m James Potter, the groom’s best friend. Yes, both of them.” He paused for a moment to let the laughter roll through. “However, I didn’t want a fight to break out over who got to have me as their best man—”
“There was no fight,” Remus corrected with a grin. “The loser got you, Pots.”
“And a lucky loser he is,” James shot back playfully before clearing his throat. “I met Sirius Black six and a half years ago, when he was eighteen and awkward. We were both awkward, actually, but he had this uncanny ability to make it look cool while I tripped over my own feet.
“The minute I met Sirius, I knew we were going to be friends. He was quiet, a little shy, and didn’t really know how talk to people. In that way, we were exactly alike.” The laughter was even louder that time and Sirius shook his head. “Ah, who am I kidding. I adopted Sirius as my best friend because I thought it would be hilarious to corrupt him.”
James glanced down at Sirius with a smile. “While I attempted to make an extrovert out of him, I learned several important things: number one, he is the least extroverted person I’ve ever met. Two, he is one of the kindest, funniest people on the planet. And three, my life had been severely lacking without him in it.”
A soft ‘aww’ washed over the group and Remus ran his thumb over Sirius’ knuckles.
James looked back at the other tables as he continued. “Sirius Black is known to most of the world as one of the best hockey players of our time. To me, he’s the dorky little brother I never had, and I am so, so proud of him. I’ve had the privilege of watching him open up, not only to me, but to everyone else on the team that he loves with that big soft heart. When my son was born—you all know my son, right? I think I have a picture here somewhere—”
“No!” half the group shouted as James grinned.
“Just making sure you’re still awake. Anyway, when my son was born, naming Sirius godfather was literally the easiest thing I’ve ever done. I kinda sat back went ‘hmm, who is the first person I can think of to entrust with my child’s life?’ and the only natural decision was the one who is terrified of children.”
“Terrified is a bit of a strong word,” Sirius complained, though his eyes were shining.
“My bad, you’re petrified by children,” James corrected. “But in all seriousness—sorry, couldn’t resist—in all seriousness, I couldn’t think of anyone better suited to the job. I think that tells you everything you need to know about Sirius, actually. Even when he’s scared to death, he goes out of his way to help people when they need it.
“Sirius, however happy you are right now—and you’re basically glowing—I need you to know that it’s one tenth of how happy you have made the people you love.” James’ voice got a little tight and Sirius took an unsteady breath. “You are a natural leader and a great hockey player, but most importantly, you are an outstanding friend. You deserve every good thing coming your way, today and for the rest of your life. As your best man and your best friend, I’ll be there whenever you call.”
Sirius sniffled as James wiped his cheeks dry and turned to Remus. “Loops, take care of my little brother, alright?”
“You got it, Pots,” Remus said, barely above a whisper.
James nodded, then raised his glass of champagne. “To Sirius and Remus, and all the happiness they deserve.”
A loud cry of “cheers!” went up, followed by thunderous applause as Sirius got up and wrapped James in a full-body hug, nearly knocking them both over. They separated after a moment and James stood on his toes to kiss the top of Sirius’ head before they went back to their respective places.
“You okay?” Remus murmured, linking their hands together again.
“Fuck, I knew he was going to make me cry.” Sirius shook his head with a smile and sniffled once again. “Yeah, I’m alright.”
Lily raised an eyebrow as she stood James’ place. “Y’know, Re, I seem to recall you promising me a microphone if I did this.”
“Sorry to disappoint!” Remus called back, feeling a flutter of nerves in his stomach. Lily had refused to share any of her speech with him; when he tried to sneakily grab it once, she shoved it down her shirt and glared until he left the room.
“I’ll get over it.” She rubbed her fingers along the edge of her paper and sighed. “I’ve written and rewritten this speech about a dozen times since Re asked me to do it, but just being here—” She took a moment and blinked back tears. “It’s different. Just ignore me if I cry, okay?
Lily cleared her throat and turned back to the paper. “I met Remus Lupin six and a half years ago, on the same day James met Sirius for the first time. Personally, I think we should make that day a national holiday, since it irrevocably changed the course of both our lives. James found his best friend and little brother, and I found my Remus.
“One of the first things you will notice when you meet Remus is that he is friend shaped.” Several murmurs of agreement rippled through the crowd and Lily winked at Remus as he flushed pink. “Told you so. Honestly, Remus is one of those people who just exudes kindness. When I found out I was pregnant, he was the first person I told besides James. I knew Remus would not only keep my secret, but also be there in whatever capacity I needed because he cares. Truly, madly, deeply.”
Lily looked over to them with a soft, fond expression that made Remus’ stomach twist into knots. “In Sirius’ vows, he said you were sunshine through dark clouds, which is quite possibly my favorite descriptor of all time. It’s really sappy and cute, for one thing, but also true. Re, you bring light and warmth wherever you go. As someone who has been on the receiving end of that light, I can tell you that it is absolutely overwhelming in the best way. There are few places I feel safer than around you.
“And now we’re here, where you just married the love of your life.” The first tear slid down Lily’s cheek, dipping into her dimple as Remus’ own tracked down his chin. “God, Re, this is incredible. You two get to be together for the rest of your lives, and the rest of us have the best seat in the house to one of the greatest love stories of this century! I mean, c’mon, how many people can say they’ve made it through everything you did?”
Lily sniffled and raised her glass, though she maintained eye contact with him the whole time. “To Remus and Sirius, who remind us all what it looks like to be in love, even when the whole world tries to stand against you.”
A second ‘cheers’ began, but Remus was already on his feet and crashing into Lily, pulling her close as she clutched the back of his suit jacket. “I love you, Lils,” he choked out. “That was fucking incredible.”
“Love you too, Re.” She pulled back and carefully smudged her hands under her eyes to keep her makeup intact. “Ugh, sorry if I ruined your jacket with the waterworks.”
“You’re in good company.” She kissed each of his cheeks and fluffed the front of his hair up, making them both laugh as she took her seat again and Remus moved past his table with a last look to Sirius.
His mother’s eyes grew shiny with unshed tears as he held his hand out and guided her to the dance floor, where they swayed back and forth as Here Comes the Sun started to play, gentle and smooth. “Oh, you,” Hope managed as the lyrics began and Remus twirled her slowly. “I bet your father’s crying even though he’s not dancing.”
Remus glanced over to their table—as always, she was right. “He is. God, you’re good.”
“That’s what happens when you’ve been married for twenty-seven years,” she said, eyes crinkling. “Someday, that’s going to be you.”
He huffed softly. Don’t cry on mom, don’t cry on mom, don’t cry on mom. “You can’t just say stuff like that. It’s like kicking me while I’m down!”
“Little darlin’, it seems like years since it’s been clear,” she sang with a grin, tapping his nose. “Here comes the sun, dodododo, here comes the sun, and I say…”
“It’s all right,” Remus finished under his breath. The dance was over in an instant and after a thousand years at the same time—all too soon, people were clapping as they made their way back to the tables and Sirius walked over to Celeste.
She covered her mouth with her hands as he offered an arm, then nodded and accompanied him to the dance floor. He whispered something and she laughed, looping her arms around his neck with a bit of a stretch as a French song Remus had never heard came through the speakers and softened their smiles.
They talked quietly as they danced; Celeste was as elegant as ever and Sirius could be quite graceful when he put his mind to it. She traced his cheekbones with her thumbs and he closed his eyes, looking utterly at peace. Remus’ heartstrings tugged at the sight and he rested his chin on his hand, letting the waltz roll over him.
More applause followed their dance as Celeste held him in a tight embrace until a more upbeat song began and couples mobbed the dance floor. Sirius downed half his water in one gulp before sitting down with a heavy sigh, and dropped his forehead onto Remus’ shoulder. “You looked good out there,” Remus said, running a hand through his hair.
“So did you. I can’t feel my feet anymore.”
“I think we’re supposed to dance at our wedding.”
“I’m so hungry.”
Remus groaned; between the endless congratulations and conversations after the ceremony, they had no time to enjoy the assorted dishes people brought. “Same. We should go somewhere after this.”
“Other than home?”
“Home…” Remus trailed his lips to Sirius’ ear. “Is for other plans. Food happens elsewhere.”
“Good plan,” Sirius said, a little breathless as he sat back up and stood with a stretch. “Come on, sweetheart, the dance floor awaits.”
---------------------------
Thirty minutes after the sun set and Adele’s perfect fairy lights lit up the backyard, the party finally started winding down. Finn had fallen asleep with his head on Leo’s shoulder about ten minutes prior, but nobody had the heart to wake him; as the best dancer of the group, he had been a hot commodity for anyone looking to show off in addition to whirling both his boyfriends around.
Jules stumbled over to Remus and curled up in his lap without warning, snuggling his face into his chest with a jaw-cracking yawn. Regulus came up behind them a moment later, resting his hands on Sirius’ shoulders and scaring the daylights out of him. “Jesus f—frick, Reg!” he yelped, holding a hand over his heart.
“Sorry.” He didn’t look very apologetic as he turned to Remus. “Jules has been asking for you.”
“Oh, yeah?” Remus looked down and brushed the soft bangs from his eyes. “What’s up, buddy?”
“I love you,” Jules mumbled. “You got married. That’s so cool.”
Remus smiled. “It really is. Thanks for being the ring-bearer, by the way. You did a great job.”
Jules made a muffled noise before wrapping his arms around Remus’ waist with a sigh. “Mmkay. G’night.”
“You can’t fall asleep yet!” Remus tickled his side lightly. “We’re almost done, I promise.”
“What time is it?” Jules cracked an eye open and fumbled for his wrist, turning Remus’ hand over to check. “It’s not even ten! Why am I tired?”
“You’ve had a busy day. Do you know where mom and dad are?”
“Still talking.”
Remus surveyed the crowd and quickly spotted them next to the cubs, sipping water and sharing a piece of cake. He stood carefully, making sure Jules was steady on his hip before heading toward the table with Sirius and Regulus in tow. “We’ve got a tired munchkin,” he whispered when they arrived, depositing Jules into the chair next to his mother; within moments, Jules laid his head on the table.
“Love you, Re,” he said as he tucked his arms under his head. “Best big brother.”
“Best of all three?” Logan gasped in mock-surprise.
“Three?” Jules sat up straight and gave him a confused look. It was made extra adorable by the crooked cowlick decorating the whole right side of his head. “I only have one.”
“Now that Remus and Sirius are married, you’ve got two more big brothers,” Logan reminded him. “Regulus and Sirius count.”
“That’s crazy,” Jules yawned, cocking his head at the brothers. “Re is still my favorite, but you’re awesome and I love you, too.”
Regulus made a soft sound and Sirius kissed the top of Jules’ head. “Don’t tell anyone, but you’re my favorite Lupin,” he stage-whispered, laughing as Remus rolled his eyes.
Jules frowned. “You married one of us, and it sure wasn’t me.”
“Alright, second favorite,” Sirius conceded with a grin as the rest of the table laughed.
“Mama, I’m tired.” Jules traced the bead patterns on Hope’s dress.
“Okay, lovey, we can go home soon.” She raised an eyebrow at Remus and he nodded. “Do you want to say some goodbyes first?”
“We’ll see everyone tomorrow. ‘s okay.”
Lyall gathered Jules into his arms, then turned to Remus and pulled him close with a kiss to his forehead. “So proud of you, kiddo.” He looked over at Sirius for a moment. “Take good care of him, eh?”
“Sir, yes sir.” Sirius pressed a kiss to Remus’ temple as they separated, then moved aside for Hope.
She scanned his face for a moment, then touched their foreheads together. “Good luck, baby. Not that you need it, but you deserve it anyway.”
Remus pulled them both back in for a family hug, feeling Jules drape a drowsy arm around the back of his neck. “Thank you so much for being here. It means—it means everything to me.”
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Lyall whispered. “Now go, you two haven’t eaten anything tonight.”
“Thank you,” both of them breathed at the same time, sending the whole group into a fit of laughter.
They said a few more ‘thank you’s and goodbyes until the other Lions started a loud, incoherent cheer and all but chased them toward Sirius’ car, where a small ‘Just Married’ sign had been stuck on the back window. They were planning on keeping the wedding a secret from the media as long as they could—the reaction would be even more hilarious the longer they waited.
“What if—” Remus broke off into snickering as they pulled out of the Dumais’ driveway. “What if nobody notices?”
“What? That we’re married?” Sirius gave him a disbelieving look. “People are going to figure it out so fast, no matter how many times Pots changes the subject.”
Remus hummed and rested his hand on Sirius’ thigh as he drove, tapping along to the rhythm of the radio; the route was familiar to them both, even after the chaos of the day. A slow, unstoppable smile made his cheeks hurt. “We got married.”
“Damn right, we did.”
“Scuse me for a moment.” Remus rolled down his window and cleared his throat, then leaned out and whooped loud enough that people in the next state would probably be able to hear it. He calmly closed it once more, fighting down a smile. “Sorry, I just had to get that out.”
Sirius slowed and rolled his own window down, sticking his head out into the empty night air. “I got married!” he shouted at the top of his lungs with a wild grin. “I have a husband now! Just thought you should know!”
“Husband,” Remus mused as the car started moving again. “Hmm. I like the sound of that.”
“Me, too.”

Note
I actually agree with that anon that I think Sirius’s characterization does change with whatever ship is being highlighted. I agree with you that this is the case for all characters but it seems especially prominent with Sirius. I will differ with the Sirius community and say I think Regulus/Jegulus!fans tend to have the most nuanced interpretation of him, even if it’s not the most likeable. His very big flaws and virtues are usually on full display there.
Jegulus does do Sirius justice more than most ships (there isn't really a choice, since Sirius is the elephant in the room that can not be ignored when the ship in question is his blood brother and his brother from another mother).
The issue with Jegulus begins when Reg is turned into a kind of Sirius variant instead of letting him be his own person, and therefore Sirius starts to be stripped off his own qualities in favour of his brother and we get....soup.
That's infuriating, because like...why not just write James/Sirius instead then? Why go through all the trouble of taking Sirius' Death Eater Slytherin brother and turning him into a Sirius variant with shorter hair and a more tragic backstory?
but speaking of Sirius in Jegulus that I do enjoy. I think Choices by @ / little-shit-soph is a great example of that. There is this [choices spoilers ahead]
this scene where Reg takes Veritaserum to prove to Sirius that he won't tell anyone about him and Remus, after threatening to tell about it during a fight, and then there is...this incredible piece of dialogue that lives in my head rent-free:
“Does he really ask about me?” Sirius cuts across James, looking right at Regulus who blinks back at him.
“Oi!” James objects, but Regulus waves him off.
“I’m on Veritaserum,” he says slowly, eyes on his brother, “and that’s the question you want to break our agreement to ask?” he can feel the answer tickling the back of his throat, the sensation growing more and more insistent with every moment that he doesn’t answer.
There’s a pause before Sirius nods. “Yeah,” he says, voice a little rough, it surprises Regulus. Sirius has never seemed to care much about their father before. But then, he supposes that’s the Black family talent isn’t it? Aloofness.
“Yes,” he says finally, feeling an exceptional amount of relief as he lets the truth escape his mouth. “I tell him you’re okay, that we still talk,” the words tumbling out without his permission. “It makes him happy.”
Sirius scrunches his face, “Why?”
“Merlin Sirius, enough,” James is standing between them like he can physically shield Regulus from the questions. But this doesn’t feel like foul play. Doesn’t feel like Sirius trying to take advantage, at least not much. It feels sincere.
“Because he loves you,” the words come easily out of his mouth. On this potion he doesn’t have to think, it just rips the thoughts from his head. Terrifying and convenient all at once.
He sees the words hit Sirius, knows how much more they mean because of the Veritaserum. Lupin steps a little closer to him, hand reaching out, squeezing his arm. It’s work for Regulus not to look at James.
“You really believe that?” Sirius asks finally, its only barely a question, more rhetorical than anything, but the potion doesn’t distinguish between rhetorical and sincere. James doesn’t like this, Regulus can see him getting antsy, and he knows he has a right to be. Regulus is letting Sirius take too many liberties. But he’s been waiting for years for Sirius to care about their father.
“Yes,” it’s an easy answer, one he isn’t afraid to give.
Sirius nods slowly. An expression on his face that Regulus can’t decipher. “And you Reg? You really hate me as much as you seem to?”
He feels his eyes go wide. “No,” he grimaces, trying and failing to fight back the next sentence; “I love you. Even when you hurt.” Well, isn’t that embarrassing.
“Sirius, this isn’t fair,” James is saying, but Sirius doesn’t take his eyes off of Regulus and Regulus doesn’t look away.
“Are you okay Reg?” he asks. “Are you—do you need help?”
Oh.
Oh fuck.
He hadn’t been expecting that one.
“I feel like I’m drowning.” The words come out of him too fast, he’s been letting the potion take too much control and he can’t stop himself, can’t modify his answer, can’t stall. It just comes out.
“Reg—“ Sirius starts, sounding somewhere close to heartbroken and honestly, this has been more than enough for Regulus.
“I have to go,” he says, getting to his feet and booking it towards the door.
so yeah, we strayed off topic. but hopefully i convinced someone to read Choices with this

On the topic of “mass murderer” Sirius Black...
Sirius is a serial killer. The Marauders all knew this. Sometimes they talked him down. Sometimes they helped. So really, he probably would have ended up in Azkaban eventually… but James, Lily, and Peter? He didn’t kill them.
James finds out first. They’re having a sleepover when they’re eleven and James wakes up to go the bathroom when he realizes Sirius isn’t beside him. He wanders around the house trying to find him and eventually ends up outside in the rain, where Sirius is dragging a dead man across the yard. He looks up at James and grins, running over to hug him. James looks down at Sirius’ blood-soaked hands, swallows, and asks if he needs help with the burial. Sirius just beams and sets the body on fire, laughing with glee as it burns. James is fucking terrified, but he never tells, and he doesn’t think it will happen again. (James could never give up his brother, so he doesn’t tell.)
Regulus finds out second. One night Sirius and their parents are having another fight, and Sirius is getting more and more agitated. What pushes him over the edge is when Orion says that Regulus will be a good son and take the Dark Mark. Sirius screams, “Over my dead body!” and shoots two stunning spells, their parents bound before him. Smiling down at them sickeningly, Sirius approaches with a knife and slits their throats. The blood still on his hands, he looks up at Regulus, destroys the knife with magic, and smiles. “Ready to go home, Reg?” He asks, holding out a hand, and a speechless Regulus takes it and follows without a word. (This proved that Sirius would never hurt Regulus, so they don’t tell.)
Peter finds out third. One night James and Sirius disappear from the dorm. It’s before they become Animagi and it’s a full moon, so Remus is down at the Shrieking Shack alone. Peter uses the Map to find Sirius and James in the woods, James watching as Sirius uses magic to dig a hole for the body next to him. There’s a Slytherin tie hanging off the body though the face is unrecognizable. Sirius is grinning and James is smiling, albeit a bit worriedly, as he watches him. Peter sneaks back into bed and doesn’t mention what he saw, but the next morning, they are all called to an assembly about a missing Slytherin student who was last seen hexing some first years yesterday. Peter glances over at Sirius, sees he’s smiling, and swallows, his hands tightening in his lap. (Peter’s scared for his life, so he doesn’t tell.)
Remus finds out fourth. Some Slytherins find out about Remus’ lycanthropy when they see him limping out of the Shrieking Shack in the morning, bleeding from the few new scars Sirius couldn’t fix. They start to poke fun at him, asking him what he’ll do when they tell everyone and he gets expelled, and Remus cowers under James’ arm and squeezes Peter’s hand as he readies a retort. Before he can say anything, however, the three Slytherins are twitching on the ground and Sirius is hissing threats at them as he turns each of them to ash. He then conjures a wind to blow the ashes away, and turns back to the others with a grin. James looks tired, Peter looks sick, and Remus looks terrified. Sirius’ smile falters and he starts to apologize when Remus stumbles forward into his arms, pushing his face into Sirius’ chest and breathing him in. Sirius folds his arms around his boyfriend and kisses his head. (Remus loves Sirius too much, so he doesn’t tell.)
Dumbledore finds out fifth. Sixth year rolls around and after the Prank, the remaining three Marauders confide in Dumbledore about Sirius’... habit. Obviously he doesn’t believe it, but it alarms him enough to start watching. One day he follows Sirius out of Hogwarts and into Hogsmeade, where Sirius starts a violent fight against three anti-werewolf Ravenclaws. One of them runs away (that’s the real Ravenclaw, being smart), but Sirius offers the other two no mercy. He slits their wrists and watches them bleed into the snow for a few minutes before sighing and casting a spell that freezes their lungs. He stares at their bodies for a little while before using magic to summon acid that eats their bodies. He then wanders back to Hogsmeade, leaving Dumbledore to stare at the decaying corpses of two of his students. (Dumbledore knows that killers are useful in war, so he doesn’t tell.)
Severus finds out sixth. Sirius targets him one night. Severus is walking the halls doing rounds when Sirius corners him and presses his wand to his throat with a manic look in his eyes. Severus regards him calmly, having already guessed at Sirius’ unstable mentality, but this only serves to agitate Sirius more. Still, Severus can see how his hand is trembling. He tells Sirius he doesn’t want to be murderer. Sirius scoffs, answering cavalierly, “You think you’re the first person I’ve killed?” Severus smirks. “No. But I think I’d be the first one you regretted.” That gives Sirius pause. He hesitates for a moment, then pulls back entirely and lets Severus return to bed. They never speak of it again. (Severus knows there are far worse men than Sirius Black to be killers, so he doesn’t tell.)
Mcgonogall finds out seventh. Sirius arrives to detention late and drenched in blood. The other Marauders are quiet, not rushing to his side like they would normally, though they all watch him nervously. Mcgonogall, alarmed, started fussing over him and asking why he would come here instead of going straight to Madame Pomfrey. Sirius just grins, and with twinkling eyes says, “It’s not my blood, ma’am.” Mcgonogall steps back, alarmed, and asks whose it is then. Sirius tilts his head to the side, his crazed grin widening. He answers, “That visiting Ministry official. The one who harassed you. You remember.” Mcgonogall swallows and nods, then points him to where Remus is with a shaky finger, instructing him to help the others and telling him they will talk about this later. Sirius’ eyes flicker and his smile drops off his face as he whispers, “Please don’t be mad at me, Minnie. I can’t… I can’t help it.” Mcgonogall doesn’t answer. Sirius walks dejectedly over to the others, where Remus embraces him and starts frantically whispering in his ear as James’ hands flit over his body and Peter sneaks nervous glances at Mcgonogall. (Mcgonogall cannot take yet another good thing from Remus Lupin, so she doesn’t tell.)
Lily finds out eighth. After Hogwarts, settled into a comfortable marriage with James and Severus, Lily is worried about some recent murders. Harry isn’t even a year old, and the murderer seems to be targeting suspected Death Eaters (which Regulus and Severus are, as they’re spies for the Order who have the Dark Mark). But James assures her they’re safe, though he won’t explain why. When Sirius shows up in the Floo after a mission, Lily pulls him aside and relays her worries to him. She asks him to talk some sense into James, and Sirius just cocks his head with a smile and says, “I would never kill your husband or my sibling. Or you or your son.” Lily goes white with understanding, backing away from Sirius as he watches her with sad eyes. James and Severus come back in and talk her down, telling her everything. But Lily won’t touch Sirius anymore. (Lily wants to know that her son has the best protection possible, so she doesn’t tell.)
Even after Sirius is locked up in Azkaban, the others know he isn’t responsible. As somewhat of a reassurance, Sirius insisted to each person who found out his secret that they make an Unbreakable Vow. They were to promise absolutely nothing to him, but he swore he would never hurt them. When he completed Lily’s, he also swore never to hurt Harry or any of their children. So when Harry’s third year rolled around, Sirius was at large, and everyone was saying he was to kill Harry… Severus and Remus knew better.
And above all, no one told Harry about Sirius’ habit. Only those eight people ever know. Sirius dies, to the public, an innocent man.

It had been a year- a very long year- since that fateful day at Hogsmeade where you finally convinced Regulus to let his brother- and by extension his brother’s friends- help him stay alive. Of course with Regulus now working as a double agent for the Order it was getting harder and harder for the two of you to spend time together. He was a skilled enough Legilimens so that You Know Who wouldn’t have a clue but around you, everything went away. You were, and still are, his one weakness. That’s why sitting across from him after the Order meeting had ended, telling everyone about his plan to replace the horcrux you knew you had to act.
“Reg,” you reached your hand out to him hoping the physical contact would make him look at you for the first time in weeks, “can we talk?”
He still wouldn’t look at you completely but he nodded, so you took that as an improvement.
You pulled him aside hoping that nobody would disturb the two of you, “Mi amor, can you please look at me? Please?”
His eyes shifted down and caught yours and the second they did you realized why he hadn’t looked at you before- he was terrified and you were the only person he showed any emotion to. You threw yourself into his arms hoping that at least the physical comfort might help a bit. His body tensed slightly at first since it had been quite some time since the two of you had touched only to relax completely, as if his body were putty. One of his hands went to your lower back while the other ran itself through your hair, his face hiding in that little spot in your neck. You swore you felt something wet but honestly you didn’t care… you finally had Regulus in your arms.
“I love you so much Regulus. I hope you know that, and I’m so proud of you,” you started your little speech. “But please for the love of everything good in the world don’t push me away- not now. I need you, I need to feel your heartbeat in the morning and need to be able to run my hands through your hair. I need to hear you read poetry to me on the weekends and hear you sing those French songs in the shower. I need to see you lying next to me when I go to sleep at night and when I wake up again in the morning. Please stop doing this.”
He nodded again and his hold on you tightened even more, “I’m sorry my love. I’m sorry for pushing you away and for hurting you in the process. I just- I worry that someone will figure out who you are and what you mean to me. And if it weren’t for this war, we’d probably already be married and I’d have found us a beautiful flat to stay in and you would have an amazing job with the Ministry. And I want to have that with you, but I can’t- not until I finish this.”
“We can at least start it- our plans for the future,” you pulled away slightly so that you could look at him, “Let’s get married… tonight.”
Regulus at first look bewildered but understand where you were coming from. After all tomorrow he’d go on a mission where he could basically end up dead, so if anything were to happen (fingers crossed it doesn’t) then at least the two of you would be married.
“Ok, but who will officiate it?” You could see the light in his eyes that had dimmed over the past week, reignite itself.
“Um…” you looked around the room where you all were, “I think we can get Remus to do it, and we have enough people here as witnesses.”
Regulus nodded his head and turned around to face the others in the room. They had seen the two of you talk for quite some time now but out of respect had decided not to eavesdrop, although you had made it difficult for them to even try in the first place.
“We’ve decided we want to get married tonight,” the announcement was met with excitement.
After a little bit of coordinating, you were whisked away by Lily and Sirius while Remus and James helped Regulus get ready. You were quite surprised when Sirius said he’d be with you but in his words “I want to finally spend some one-on-one time with my soon-to-be sister-in-law. Plus Regulus won’t let me touch his hair.”
Thankfully, you had a dress hidden away from several months ago when you were given the chance to go to muggle London. It wasn’t a white dress but that fact seemed to make it even more unique. You were soon helped into your dress and your hair put into a beautiful updo. You didn’t have any flowers to hold or a veil in your hair, but you still felt like you were a princess.
When you were finally ready, and everyone else in the house was dressed up, you were led outside to the backyard. With just a little bit of magic, small lights filled the air between you and your love. Lily, who had become something of a sister to you since you arrived, walked you down the makeshift aisle.
By the time you had met Regulus, tears had started to fall from your eyes and you could see that the same was happening with him. There was not a dry-eyed soul in the vicinity.
After that, everything became a blur… at least until you got to the vows. When Regulus started to read his, you weren’t sure if you would be able to make it through yours.
My love,
Since the very first day we met I knew you would be someone important to me. Even at eleven years old, you were quite good at reminding me when I was acting like a pretentious ass, but I wouldn’t want anyone else in the world calling me out with the sass that you do.
I think we can all agree that you are my better half. Whenever I look at you all I see is light, absolute pure light. You make everything around me seem so much better and you’ve taught me what it means to be a good person. I don’t think I would even be here right now if it weren’t for you.
You are everything I wish to be and more, my love.
Your hands trembled as you pulled out the paper with the vows you had written one day, with the plan for them to be used much much later.
Mi amor,
I can’t imagine a life where I wake up without you by my side. You’ve taught me what it means to be resilient and determined, especially in the face of fear and evil. And what love looks like. I mean to me you are the definition of true love.
When I think of us and what we’ve been through I think of all those moments we had together, where it was just about us. There is no one else who I’d want to sass at some point in my day, and there is no one else who I would want by my side when I fight.
You may think that I’m your better half, but to be quite honest it’s the opposite. Being your friend, and then your lover, you have taught me so much that I can’t possibly put it into words even though I tried.
I can’t wait to start our future together, mi amor.
By the time you had finished, everyone had started to sob. That night as much as worry filled the air, so did love. When Remus finally said the words “you may kiss the bride” Regulus had almost swept you off your feet- not that you minded.
The two of you were led back inside where your new marriage was celebrated with day old cake and some left over wine. You didn’t care though, all you felt was happiness and hope that tomorrow would turn out okay.
For the first time in weeks, Regulus and you slept together in the same bed. You didn’t do anything that night except hold one another in your arms and whisper I love yous throughout the night. The next morning, you were thankful to have woken up first, being given the chance to see your husband look so peaceful was something that you loved. Your husband, there was something about even thinking those words that set a fire in you.
When the time came, Regulus and you went down to the kitchen where you would wait with the others for his return. It was a nerve-wracking several hours, so much so that Sirius had to grab you by the shoulders to stop your pacing.
Finally, Regulus appeared close to death and you weren’t sure whether to scream or cry. You rushed over to him, a mere heap on the floor, and with some struggle lifted him into the sofa. Your hands didn’t stop moving until every cut was sealed and no more blood was pouring out of him. By the end, you had to be dragged towards the bathroom and have your hands cleaned, not wanting to leave Regulus alone.
5 days. 5.
That’s how long it took for Regulus to wake up. By then every Order member knew not to bother you as you sat by your husband. Sirius would sit with you occasionally and would constantly make sure you ate and drank water… something about how his little brother would kill him if he found out that nobody had made sure you were okay.
When those grey, stormy eyes opened, the tears that you had held back when he arrived broke through.
“Sirius!” You called out, “Sirius! He’s awake.”
You had to hold yourself back from simultaneously tackling Regulus out of happiness now that he was awake and hitting him out of anger for almost dying.
The two brothers spoke in private as you were sent to go drink some water. You weren’t sure how long you stood there, leaning against the counter until you saw Regulus out of the corner of your eye holding himself up with the doorframe.
“What are you doing up?” You rushed over to him, “You should be lying down.”
“So this is the first thing I hear from my beautiful wife,” he smirked slightly.
“Oh- if you were expecting me to be mad, I am. I am very mad at you,” you cupped his cheeks with your hands, squeezing them slightly, “but I’m also very very happy that you’re alive and standing in front of me. So this is what you get.”
Regulus wrapped you in his arms and although he told you he was fully healed, the face he made told you otherwise.
Some days later, Dumbledore stopped by and told you that it would be best for the two of you to flee. You Know Who has gotten word about a traitor in his midst and Regulus’ absence had made him a suspect. The two of you packed your things and then spent that night together with your little family that had formed in the past year.
You all cried, laughed, and screamed one last time. Then Regulus picked up your bags and wrapped you up in his arms.
“One day,” he started, “when this is all over. We’ll come back. I promise my love.”
With a pop, the two of you disappeared into the night, heading to who knows where to start your new life together.

hi hi hi!!! ... need your thoughts on regulus today... and you seem so cool... <3 <3 <3 <3
hi bella!!! you seem extremely cool too and i'm always happy to talk about my favorite boy!!!
i am and always will be a trans reggie truther; walburga and orion wish they could think of a name as cunty as regulus arcturus. the first time he cut his hair short he told sirius he wanted to look just like him <3 sirius didn't realize at the time it was because regulus is trans but he was absolutely the first know and accept him. even when their relationship was at their worst he never misgendered or deadnamed him and would beat the shit out of transphobes
the sorting hat wanted to put regulus in hufflepuff because of his loyalty, hard-working nature, and dedication but regulus begged to be put in slytherin. after seeing what sirius went through for being placed in gryffindor he was terrified of what his parents would do if neither of their children were placed in slytherin.
he became seeker during his second year and was extremely nervous to be on a team of mostly older students. dorcas pretty much immediately became his friend so he could have someone on the team. once she got to know regulus and how snarky and funny he was they became very close friends. they're the only quidditch players in their friend group and are VERY intense about it.
autistic regulus!!! making friends can be difficult for him because he really struggles with social cues. he also has a tendency to avoid eye contact and genuinely doesn't enjoy general small talk. people tend to think it's because he's rude because of it and even when he gets older it's hard for him to mimic allistic social norms. the wizarding world doesn't really consider autism a thing and even sirius just describes his brother as being shy and standoffish but well-intentioned. remus clocks him as autistic after knowing him for like ten hours lmao
close friends with miss lily evans herself!!! they both relate over their parents preferring their older sibling and feeling like their older sibling is embarrassed by them. younger lily doesn't get along with the gryffindor girlies well because of her friendship with snape and disdain towards the marauders leaving her getting snubbed. regulus being straight to the point with her and not getting easily offended is a much needed change in the people she spends time with. regulus is also an extremely empathetic person and doesn't get easily overwhelmed by lily's loud anger and bitter frustration
eventually lily does mouth off to sirius and reveal that regulus worries he's a burden and embarrassment to sirius which leads to an extremely emotional conversation. sirius loves regulus exactly as he is and wants to protect him from their parents but he's not embarrassed by him at all. he just worries that the things that make regulus who he is, being trans and autistic, might put him in their parents line of fire
his very first relationship is with barty ofc and they experience most of their firsts together! eventually they decide they're better off as friends and have a very amicable split. barty ends up dating evan but remains super protective of regulus. evan isn't threatened at all and feels equally protective because they know how bad reg's home life is. they might not be able to protect him from walburga and orion but they can definitely beat the shit out of snape for calling regulus a freak!!!
obviously he's endgame with james!!! regulus has a crush on him first year but sirius and his friends are assholes to the slytherins so it gets less intense. the first time james hears regulus infodump on thestrals he thinks regulus is the smartest and most passionate person he's ever met. regulus also really sees through the "perfect son, student, and friend" mask james' puts on and encourages him to not prioitize making everyone else happy all the time over his own happiness and well-being. james isn't used to people seeing him so clearly and it's both intimidating and awe-inspiring.
remus and regulus both have wands of cypress and unicorn hair!!! they definitely crushed on each other at some point during their time at hogwarts and i'll accept no criticism on this take
regulus is only like 5'6 and skinny but he has a bit of an intimidating aura that makes him seem bigger!!! he's not one to start a fight by any means but he's got a quiet confidence about him. he knows he's extremely intelligent and skilled so why bother being modest about it?
