Not your "average" Jedi

It irks me sometimes whenever Kanan gets underrated as a Jedi despite having proven his wisdom and strength time and again.

For example, comparing Kanan to Grogu over the "holding back the explosion without dying" thing without seeming to take some rather glaring differences into consideration.

Grogu:

Was standing on solid ground.

Only had to maintain a small Force bubble because Mando and Bo were, like, on their knees right next to him.

Is a baby, too cute and adorable to die. Fandom would rightfully revolt.

Kanan:

Was standing on an exploding fuel pod that's cracking apart beneath his feet.

Had to shield a frigging gunship that's hovering several meters away.

Had to lift and toss Hera to safety while still holding back the growing inferno with one hand.

Made zero attempt to protect himself when he Force shoved that same frigging gunship skyward because the safety of his loved ones was all that mattered to him.

Is a Jedi Knight and canon says he can't exist once the OT begins. In other words, doomed.

So, yes, Grogu is wonderful and impressive and I absolutely love him, but my blorbo Kanan Jarrus, Jedi Knight, is no slouch.

Honestly series are where I shine I think. Still, If You Wanna Be Wild with Santiago Garcia x Latina reader x Javier Pena just tops it. I'm working on it still with my precious co-writer, my beloved @my-secret-shame-but-fanfiction but it explores a lot about repressed sexuality, repressed bisexuality, emotional incest, commitment issues, protective vs. possessive, and tenderness. Oh yeah, and they fuck nasty.

Hands down Boys of Summer. I know FishBen isn't a popular TF ship but those are my babies. This massive fic follows Benny Miller and Frankie Morales through a series of summers from when they meet as teens to finally coming together on the Andes, and the hardships and love in between.

Secret's Out! IDK I thought it was a fun one! You're brother is best friends with Marc and you keep your relationship secret thinking he'll be mad at Marc, but that's not quite it. It's just a goofy fun thing.

This one was originally unnamed when the premise for it was created. I started this a while ago, and then set it on the back burner, but then Lewi dropped this amazing art and it sparked that flame of motivation to continue it -- and gave it a Title.

Despite how meticulously I keep my Google Drive organized, there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to my Docs Names. Most of the time it is just an extremely vague phrase. But I do keep my Docs ORGANIZED. Each fandom has it's own folder, and within that there are folders for oneshots, series, ideas, and @ic3-que3n (yes - they have a whole ass folder because they put that many ideas in my fucking head.)

“Smith.”  At the mere mention of Erwin’s name, Hange starts laughing.   “Stop that,” I sneer at them as I lean back in my chair and cross my arms defensively. Already anticipating where this is going to go – which is why I didn’t want to say anything to them in the first place.  “Stop being in denial then,” Hange wheezes out between fits of laughter.  “I’m not in denial!”  We’ve had this argument before – anytime I bring up Erwin, Hange insists that I have a crush on him. Which I do not.  “Keep telling yourself that,” Hange drawls as they wipe a tear of laughter away from their lash line.  “We’re not having this discussion.”  “And you’re still not getting laid.”  “Hange.” I practically snarl at them.   It doesn’t perturb them in the slightest. “Look me in the eyes and tell me I’m wrong,” and I’m about to answer their demand but then they keep going. “Tell me you don’t think he’s a whole ass meal. That you haven’t thought about what he’s hiding under those bland Oxford shirts and wool pants.”  “I don’t –”  “Or that you don’t think he’s infuriatingly good at his job.”  “That has nothing –”  “Or that you can’t seem to keep your eyes and ears off of him in joint meetings.”  “Well that’s only –” “Or that it’s a damn shame no one has been able to take him off the market.”    The silence that falls over us is uncomfortably tense. And I can’t decide if I want to crawl beneath my desk at the sudden, horrifying, realization that I can’t deny a word they just said – or leap across the table and strangle them for making me realize I can’t.  “That’s what I thought,” they chime triumphantly as they lean back on their hands. Pushing a pencil cup out of its place.  “Get. Out.” I snip between clenched teeth. My hands balled up in fists in the crooks of my elbows to keep from lashing out at this idiot I call my best friend.

I have a WILD backwards-reincarnation plot cooking in my head right now. I'm going to make the CANON the reincarnation and write a whole pre-canon/part reincarnation for my blorbos. And I am ITCHING to write it like it's no ones fucking business, but I'm determined to get some other projects off my plate first so that I can give it the attention that it rightfully deserves.

This might be a really unpopular opinion, but hear me out.

Supposedly some people like so-called 'reader insert' stories, where the writer has created this bizarre blank canvas for the reader to project themselves onto, but for the most part, like... it just looks like lazy writing to me, and I genuinely don't understand what about it is appealing or helps the reader relate to your story in any way, let alone imagine themselves in it.

'You', the reader, didn't do the thing in the story; 'you' don't even have a name in this story. 'You' aren't worthy of being a whole person here. 'You' are only doing very generic and ultimately meaningless things because the writer has neutered 'you' and made 'you' as unremarkable as possible.

Think about it in terms of your blorbo(s), if you have any, or your real life friends or partners or family members:

What makes you love them? What makes them interesting to you? What makes you look up to them? What makes you want ot hug them? What makes you shake your head and roll your eyes at them? What makes you yell at them? What do they do that makes you cry?

Those are the kinds of traits your protagonists need (not to mention names and genders and all that shit).

Or look at video games that have actual protagonists, not blank self-inserts. The Last of Us, God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2, Horizon Zero Dawn. Those games are widely loved and held up as some of the great masterpieces of video game narratives because they are about people.

When I think about the stories I relate to hard and fall in love with, the ones that leave a mark and have an impact, the protagonist is always a person. They are definitely not me. They have a name, a face, a body, a gender, a personality. They have quirks and hopes and dreams. They have fucked-up impulses and a dark side and genuinely weird shit happening inside their heads that you just know has to come from the creator's personal experiences, because nobody could make some of that shit up.

But here's the thing: that's what makes me relate. That's what makes me get attached. Those moments where the character does something totally off the wall specific and weird and I go "wow, I'm not the only person on earth who gets nauseated from drinking plain tap water! I feel SEEN!"

And I don't just feel seen or heard. I feel worthy of love or friendship or admiration because this character is shown to be worthy of those things. I feel like I could be a better version of myself because this character is working to become just that, and maybe is already halfway there. I feel like I can summon the will to fight against the things I struggle with because this character - who struggles with some of the same shit I do - is also fighting.

That's what get me hooked. The person who freaks out when different foods touch on their plate. The person who's so used to only being addressed by a nickname that they literally don't respond to their legal name anymore. The person who only ever smokes half a cigarette because they're too damn antsy and impatient to finish the whole thing.

So I guess what I'm saying is... you, the writer, shouldn't do your readers the disservice of assuming they are incapable of relating to your OCs.

They are smart enough, they are interested, they are worth the time and effort it takes for you to develop your protagonist into a real person, and they will love you for it.

The entire time during episode 9 I was trying and failing to open a jar of ice cream so I was a Little out of it, but from what I gather I'm really dumb and not good at mysteries so i have no clue who the hell did it. At one point I asked "alright who killed a man?" but my bestie heard "who killed min?" so I just kept saying that for the rest of the episode and crying of laughter. Nico continues to piss me off a little. Teruko goes without saying she pisses me off to no end. When everyone started dragging her handwriting I was whooping and cheering and hollering it was so funny GET HER.

I liked how the two main people investigating the corpse were Arturo and Veronika. They really do get a lot of screentime together and it's starting to scare me a little. Is this like subtle ship fanservice or am I about to meet horrors beyond my comprehension as the story and cases develop. I hope one of them kills the other. They're so in love.

I also liked at one point Veronika dragging Ace's ass. They're ALSO in love btw. Yeah I'll ship my top 3 faves together, what else would you expect from me, man

NOW, THE THING IS, I THINK I'VE SHARED MOST OF THE THINGS I THINK HERE ALREADY....I PREFER OBSERVING AND LETTING THINGS DEVELOP AS THEY GO. However. That one comic writing thing I wanna make... I guess it's a mix of some HCs and observations? I'll talk about it here, without spoiling everything, but giving out he basics!! i can write properly i swear but since im infodumping im gonna be going from writing styles in and out wackily to get my thoughts out LOL It takes place when Cathal first got hired at Cogs INC - (All narrated by himself, by the way ) and what his expectations and thoughts were. What he knew and what he didn't - since Allan would share some things with him, obviously. Even way before Cathal got hired... And eventually it got to Cathal seeing Allan fall off the tower for the first time.

He doesn't think much of it now, just shrugging it off. Perhaps mild annoyance... It's just not worth the time. It's pointless... As he says himself, he finds the Toons VS Cogs thing pointless. And... he isn't too worried, since Allan always gets repaired in the end. Sometimes it's more severe repairs than other days, but, the point stands... No matter what he always gets repaired, and Allan himself also sounds more annoyed about this than anything as well

But this wasn't always the case!

Despite being, well... Really lazy - Cathal is very caring and kind. He cares about the people around him - he politely asks if everyone's had a good lunch, and he heals them. Hell, he can even be slightly scary with this with his "You should've hit someone else that time" line. Like - he does not exactly want to pack a punch, he just sorta has to since the Toons are there... But he's capable!! Even if he doesn't see them as friends, just co-workers, he's very willing to stand up for them if they get hurt...

It's the one thing that does give him the motivation which he usually lacks... He usually just doesn't want to care because it takes too much effort, y'know? But it doesn't make him incapable of things...

So, with him established as caring for other's (that he cares about) wellbeings... Imagine the shock seeing your own dad fall off a tower, with a loud earth-quake like crash... he hasn't been joking or lying after all with all his tales of Toons pushing him off the tower. Cathal never cared for this story... Just ignored it or blocked it out of his mind as Allan's constant stories (Because come on this guy definitely loves talking about things that happened while at work or what he did with The Boys :tm: when he's with Cathal. And wise-versa. He was sooo excited to show Cathal off to the other bosses in A Meeting Of Two Minds)

But like... Those weren't like. Just some stories. Allan was always annoyed about them, but in a "Gah, those darn Toons!" kind of way. (Maybe with an occasional ramble about how that day repairs were more expensive, perhaps, as more damage was caused. Looking at you High Roller ARG. Also makes me wonder just how much money from Cogs INC does go into his repairs... But I suppose insurances for Cogs are canon, and also Sellbots are known to cut corners to save cash, so that extra stuff maybe goes to him....) But, back on track now - It's been happening for YEARS. If we go with how long Toontown has been around - it's been happening for DECADES. You start sounding a bit less serious about it...

Like... Cathal was just shocked. What was he supposed to do?! That's his dad for fuck's sake!!! He may appear unenthusiastic and bored but... It's clear these two care for each other, even if Cathal does not let it be known (With Allan being the exact opposite and he's maybe Too Vocal About It. Me too buddy, me too)

Cathal has lived a life in comfort, basically spoiled by Allan. With love, material things, him letting things be easier for Cathal... He didn't have to worry about a thing. If anything, he probably only ever struggles with his own mind - considering I do headcanon him to have some struggles with motivation and doing things and that he has Cog ADHD. Yes it's projecting. I also sit around lazily for hours but because I can't start anything no matter how much I want. Even if it's a fun activity like... Turning on a video to watch. Drawing. Hopping onto a game. Or literally just getting UP.

He's learned to just... Work with those issues. And, unlike me, he doesn't have things like school and such to worry about, so the big stress factor is gone... So even if he does struggle sometimes and does need motivators, most of the time it's impossible to tell from him just.. Struggling and him being cozy and genuinely lazy... But since he struggles less more often than not it is just laziness and "that's just hard to do" and not a mental block...

Only ever living a life in comfort-like this - Makes you worry ten times as hard when the stressful times do come. He's not equipped to handle this...

In the comic he in panic flew over to check on Allan - who in fact has fallen over and had a bunch of Cogs helping him get back up, and beginning preparations to get him fixed ASAP. It was so organized, everyone knew each other there... This basically happens all the time. They've got to be.

Allan is... Shocked, but very happy to see Cathal there. He is so very proud of his boy being there... That he cares so much about his father to go see him. Cathal does not show affection a lot - but this is the way he did. Allan knows he doesn't show it a lot, which made it ten times more special. Others who knew about Cathal through Allan were shocked, too... Cathal. The Multislacker. Stays in his video room all day, watching the cameras... He... Should be working, but that's aside the point. Despite what Allan says we all know he's a lazy slacker... He doesn't care about others. Does he?

Well... he's here, alright. Worried for his dad, who is hushing him nonchalantly, saying how this happens often. "The boys are gonna get me right back up again soon as always, son!" And how he can get right back to work soon... (And of course, some curses against the Toons.)

Cathal is just... Baffled meanwhile. He's saying the same things he always does!! Isn't he one bit worried...? Well... Like everything else, he has to let it go... And just not worry about it. Allan doesn't, so why should he...? It doesn't stop him being worried a bit longer at the time AND the next few times this happens... At that point he just knows what happens like it's rinse and repeat, like any other day

But the first time was just... Scary. Even if he most likely was caring before (again, mostly outta just... understanding. yknow? man. just wanna chill... he gets it.) - he just... Never showed it much. But after? He began appreciating others around him more. He knows Cogs always get repaired despite... Uh. (Looks at Atticus) THAT ONE TIME, so there isn't really a feel of "time is limited" feeling there... But you still don't want to see people hurt. You want to appreciate their presence. Even if they aren't friends, y'know?

He doesn't see the reason for violence, really. Okay sure, he definitely likes playful banter and messing around - but I mean like... Genuine things, y'know? I mean, as a Cog he's on the side of the Cogs, he doesn't see the motivation the Toons have, or the goal (to have to fight Allan REPEATEDLY. I mean, as an in-game thing it's for unites, but it's canon he gets fought repeatedly regardless, yknow?)

He doesn't get the scope of why Toons fight back exactly, that it's pointless. Because he doesn't have the perspective they have... He is annoyed with them, yes, they burst into his room uninvited and then demand to fight him... And they hurt his co-workers and his dad. But getting too mad is just... Man! Not worth it. Too energy consuming. Not worth getting worked up over...

But even with that he wishes that this didn't have to happen, y'know? he doesn't see the point. And if nobody fights anyone - nobody is gonna bother him and his shows either...

i think i juiced out all my thoughts bc i guess the other stuff would be more cogs only or like personal interactions i imagine between frost and him and perhaps the others... i already established the gamer thing and that he messes around with pace in that regard. one of his motivations is to just be playful like that. maybe pace and him are NOT friends and they demotivate each other in work ways. but i just love the dynamic of not friends. not enemies. just tom and jerry online gaming mischief stuff. and like. gamer graham is really funny to me since hes the sport guy. but also hes jerma to me. you get me . righht. right. i love going from serious headcanon stuff to HEE HEE SILLY. but thats just who i am. thats what you get. (cannot even get too serious about graham hes just too goofy to me) (also has written gut wrenching angst about a guy named spamton g spamton) (is really normal)

i don’t think i’ve ever felt more alive than being at ppg when the pens score. the energy and the passion, the strong sense of community, the shared love. i don’t think i’ve ever yelled more in my life. (i’m definitely going to lose my voice in the morning)

now the ending was disappointing. especially bc a family of isles fans were sitting behind us, so i felt somewhat personally embarrassed that we flubbed, got lazy, got sloppy, something, and lost the drive we had the entire night before.

however, even with the OT loss, tonight’s been probably hands down one of the best nights of my life. some highlights:

seeing your favs, the loves of your lifes, your blorbos alive and in the flesh is definitely an overwhelming experience. when they first came out on the ice, i literally got lightheaded. like i was like oh my god, that’s them, right there that’s them, i’m in the same arena as them. i was with my friend who’s not into hockey the way i am, and i think she couldn’t believe how much i was freaking out over the players being right there haha

it’s loud. like the sticks and slap shots and puck hitting the boards. it’s so loud, so much louder than i was expecting. we were in the upper bowl too, i can’t imagine how loud it is on the ice

when i watch games on tv the goals always catch me by surprise, but i can still somewhat see them coming most of the time. however in person, every single goal caught be my surprise. like one second i’m drinking my twisted tea, the next it’s spilled all in the floor kind of surprise (that definitely didn’t happen….)

ppg paints is a gorgeous arena. omg. we ate before the game in this dining area with massive floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked downtown pittsburgh. like i could’ve sat the entire evening there. so beautiful.

y’all were right. seeing geno skate in person is beautiful, god i wanted to cry. i think i did tear up actually. he’s so graceful yet he’s such a beast. he’s just—ugH I LOVE HIM

tonight was surely a night to remember and i’m already planning my next trip up. thank you, pens, even though you dropped the ball at the end. you’re still my little slip and slide girls <3

Oh hey, I can make one of these! Hi I'm Overtired, you can call me that or OT. I don't like to put a lot of personal info on the internet, so I'll say that I'm a queer man who's old enough to have already been an adult when Awakening originally came out in 2012.

I was very active here around 2013-2014, I've come back to the fe13 (and particularly chrobin) fandom after what was a decade away for complicated reasons, ready to, as the kids say, brainrot about my blorbos once more. I'm getting back into writing, I've gotten better over the past decade, however my art has gotten worse lol because I don't draw anymore. I privated all my old fanarts and writings years ago, I might un-private at least some of them someday.

As you can see my otp is chrobin, particularly m!chrobin, I also really love chromvaike and gerolau. Chrom is my favorite character and I think about him a normal amount. So I've been playing In Stars and Time and now I'm in the beginning of the third act (I've been busy and not able to play much) and I love this game?? I don't know ot scratches parts of my brain just right.

At first I was a little disappointed over how little control/choice I had over the loops as a player (like the first time we die because of a tear, I was seemingly given the choice to touch them, but when denied Boni pushed Siffrin into one, or how in the first loop, despite checking all pillars, I still hadn't found the switch). But then I realised Siffrin is not a self insert character, but a pre-established one, with his own internal monologue, their own desires, his own character. They are a forgetful and aloof character, and they carry a lot of guilt over their shortcomings

So at the start of the third Act we see Siff's mask slipping a bit in front of his friends, as he is unable to hide how distressed he is. And as they try to go on about business as usual, I notice that their battle sprite looks different. "I'm pretty sure he was smiling before", and checking the menu, he is DEFINITELY not smiling anymore. As I thought about it, it just reinforced my suspicions from before. Siff had been putting up walls with everyone, including the player. We might have a bit more insight into his thoughts but even then, he hides his feelings from us. From the very start. The decline in their emotional state had begun from the first loop, they had just been better at hiding it even from us back then. While now they are more desperate.

Of course there were cracks. Every time they died and came back to with knew knowledge they were unable to hide how much they hated themself for missing thode details. "They all rely on me and I let them down". The way Siff talks about himself constantly in a negative light is astonishing.

At first I thought it was me projecting my own thoughts over how Siff feels more and more alien to his party, more and more detached. The skip feature is literally him zoning out. Or how to his party it might seem weird how Sif was at first aloof, walking around and suddenly his walking had purpose. How out of the blue he seemed way stronger than before. How his usual blank expression just got dark out of the blue. Isa comments on those changes the first time they happen. Why does Sif know Isa wants to become a fashion designer. Why did Siff look so grim when he found that key in the classroom.

I am glad this game is about exploring Siff's psychology. I love putting my blorbos in a timeloop ❤️❤️
