- sunshine
pairing: yuji Itadori x fem!reader genre: friends to lovers, fluff, suggestive themes, mutual pining word count: 6.4k
summary: He was sunshine. Anyone who came in contact with him knew it, saw it, felt it. Perhaps it was the way that he carried himself or the passion that rolled off him when he spoke highly of someone or something he cared about. People naturally found themselves orbiting the sun that was Yuji Itadori. And you were no different.
After the boy with the pink hair threw himself between you and what you now knew was a curse, you could no longer ignore the curses that you saw. You attended Jujutsu High in order to learn how to control your cursed energy and to prevent what happened to you from happening to anyone else. You did not expect to find friends out of it, however.
“Hey,” a voice called to your right. “Are you daydreaming again?”
Nobara sat next to you on the stone steps of one of the many buildings in Tokyo. She extended a popsicle to you with a faint, amused smile. You smiled back sheepishly and accepted the popsicle.
“I was just thinking about when I started at Jujutsu High is all.”
“Oh? And maybe Itadori is in there as well?”
“What? I—” You huffed a nervous laugh, a flush creeping up your neck to cover your cheeks. You cleared your throat. “I’m afraid I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Oh please, don’t insult my intelligence. I’ve seen the way you watch him when you think no one’s looking. Well, I’m looking and I think you like him.”
Nobara raised an eyebrow at you, a smirk on her lips.
“Of course I like him, just like I like you and Megumi.”
“Nobody likes Fushiguro, we tolerate him.”
“You know what I mean.”
“I don’t,” Nobara shot you a pointed look and munched on her popsicle. “But it’s true, isn’t it? You like Yuji, more than just a friend.”
You fell silent and chewed on your popsicle. It was definitely true, but you were hesitant to share that kind of information, even if it was with Nobara. You had only recently sorted out your own feelings, having panicked for three whole days about it. You hadn’t been able to sleep or to eat and all your thoughts were consumed by Yuji. What would he think if he found out that you wanted to hold his hand or touch his smiling face? Would it be awkward then on assignment? Would he not know how to interact with you? You didn’t think you would be able to handle how sweet he would undoubtedly be in his rejection.
Nobara was still eying you, waiting for your answer, popsicle almost gone. Her honey brown eyes shifted between your own. The smirk she’d been wearing slowly fell from her face as she realized you would not be denying anything. You gave her a sad smile in return.
“Oh gods. You really do like Itadori,” Nobara said, almost in a whisper. “I was only joking.”
“Yeah, I know. It’s not really something I’d like to advertise so just don’t say anything.”
“Of course I won’t say anything,” Nobara rolled her eyes and tsked. “What a pain that must be for you though.”
“What do you mean?”
“You know eventually they’re going to try to put him to death again. After all of Sukuna’s fingers have been collected.”
An ache bloomed in your chest and you stared down at your popsicle stick. It was the ache that came around anytime you thought of that, or even just the thought of him never returning from an assignment. You knew Yuji was strong and capable, but with so many cursed spirits and users after him, it was hard for you not to let the anxiousness of the never ending danger he was in consume you.
“I don’t want him to die,” you said, snapping the popsicle stick in your hand. “Especially not that way.”
“We’ll protect him.”
You met Nobara’s eyes and found determination there. Her eyebrows were pulled together and her jaw was set. Nobara was not one for many kind words or for big shows of affection, but you knew she felt strongly for her classmates. She might joke and make fun of Yuji and Megumi, but there wasn’t much Nobara wouldn’t do for them. Over time, you found that you had been inducted into Nobara’s small circle as well. Nodding in agreement, you flashed Nobara a smile and your heart swelled when it was returned.
“Hey! There  you both are!” Yuji’s voice called from behind them and you jumped slightly in surprise. Yuji grinned, waving. “Oh sorry, ____, I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Scared was not really how you felt when Yuji was near. Logic told you that maybe some part of you should be scared, with Sukuna residing inside of Yuji, but you could not bring yourself to feel it. What you felt instead was adoration and fondness. Yuji's energy was infectious and his presence usually made you feel warm all over.
You turned your smile on the approaching Yuji and Megumi.
“I said coming up from behind them wouldn’t be the best idea,” Megumi remarked, sounding vaguely annoyed. “Although, what kind of sorcerers are you if you didn’t hear us coming?”
“For your information, Fushiguro, ____ and I were having a serious conversation,” responded Nobara as she stood to her feet. She  crossed her arms and pointed a finger at him. “You’re just lucky I didn’t curse you.”
Yuji chuckled softly and held a hand out in front of you, his fingers wiggling, as if it was the most natural gesture. You followed the line of his arm from his fingers to his shoulder to his still grinning face. His brown eyes were warm and pink colored his cheeks.
Placing your hand in his, you let Yuji haul you to your feet and willed yourself not to slump your shoulders when he swiftly let go of your hand.
“We just heard from Gojo that there's a new assignment for us,” Yuji tucked his hands into the pockets of his uniform and glanced away. You noticed he hadn’t moved from your right side and your arms were almost touching. “Fushiguro’s got the details.”
“Does it have to do with Sukuna's fingers?” you asked.
“Mm,” Megumi nodded. “Apparently there's one tucked away somewhere in an abandoned building not far from the school. We head out tomorrow.”
“Alright!” Nobara clapped her hands and linked her arm with yours. “Let’s go home and get some rest then.”
With that, the four of you headed back to Jujustu High to turn in for the night in preparation for the assignment in the morning. On the way home, you caught Yuji staring distantly ahead as if he was lost in thought, his eyebrows drawn together and his hands kept tightly in his pockets. He was being unusually quiet, but you didn’t get the chance to ask him what was wrong before he and Fushigiro split off to head to their dorm.
As it turned out, “turning in for the night” consisted of Yuji calling for a movie night not long after he and Megumi had retreated to their rooms.
You and Nobara had just washed up and were on your way back to your respective rooms when Yuji came running down the hall, Megumi walking calmly behind him, a hand raised in greeting. For a brief moment, you panicked and glanced down at your sleeping attire. You wore shorts and one of your old t-shirts with a hole near the collar.
Shit! I look like shit!
Internally groaning, you had to remind yourself that Yuji had seen you looking more worse for wear than you currently did. Like with blood on your skin and broken bones.
“What do you say, ____?” Yuji asked, leaning toward you, brown eyes shining.
He must have just washed up as well because his usual lemongrass and pine scent was stronger and his hair still looked fairly damp. He also seemed to be back to his usual self. You wondered what had him so lost in thought earlier.
“Let’s do it,” you grinned at Yuji, your heart soaring. “It’s Nobara’s turn to pick the movie.”
“Mine? Fat chance, you know I’m shit at deciding on anything. Pass.”
“But it’s your turn!”
“And I’m saying pass.”
“Someone just pick a movie already so we can watch it and go to bed,” Megumi grumbled, yawning.
“Fushiguro! Are you seriously ready to go to sleep?” Yuji looked personally offended.
“Obviously,” Megumi shot him a pointed look. “Let’s go back to the common room. Someone better have decided on a movie by then.”
The boy’s dorm had a common room which was generally small but cozy with a tv, a couch, two chairs and a coffee table. There was also a side kitchen with basic appliances where the boys kept snacks and items to make coffee and tea. Upon entrance to the common room, Yuji went immediately to get some snacks while Megumi set up the television, taking a seat in one of the chairs. Nobara claimed the other chair with a sly grin in your direction.
It would not be the first time that you and Yuji sat on the couch next to one another, but somehow having Nobara know about your feelings for him made you flustered. You quickly sat on the couch and pulled one of the blankets over your legs with a glare right back at Nobara.
You’re welcome, Nobara mouthed at you.
Screw you, you mouthed back which you received a snicker from the honey eyed sorcerer in return for.
“So I’m thinking scary movie,” Yuji called from the kitchen. This earned him a groan from Nobara.
“We did a scary movie last time, you idiot, pick something else.”
“No way, you forfeited your right to have an option when you gave up your turn.”
“Ugh, fine! ____, you good for a scary movie?”
You nestled yourself deeper into the couch and nodded, stifling a yawn. “Nothing with creepy dolls, please. I’d like to actually get some sleep tonight.”
“No promises!” Yuji announced as he came around the corner from the kitchen.
In his arms was a large bowl of popcorn and a smaller bowl of chocolate covered candies. He set the bowls down on the coffee table and went to take a seat next to you but before he could settle in, he shot back to his feet, snapping his fingers. Yuji retreated back into the kitchen only to return a moment later with a warm looking mug in his hands.
“Almost forgot,” he said, sounding sheepish, while extending the mug to you. “You like peppermint tea with two sugars, right?”
The sweet sunshine boy made you peppermint tea with two sugars. You could not remember a time when you’d ever outwardly mentioned that fact, but you’d definitely made tea in front of him before. He must have paid attention at some point and retained the information. Your stomach swooped at the thought and you took the mug with the phrase Classy, Sassy, and a little bit Smart-Assy printed on the front from Yuji’s outstretched hand with a small smile.
“I do. Thanks, Yuji.”
“No problem,” Yuji shrugged and took his seat, one of his knees bumping yours as he settled in. You noticed he was sitting closer than usual, but you quickly squashed any thoughts that followed.
So what if he’d made you tea? So what if he sat close enough for you to rest your head on his shoulder? He’d never want that. He saw you as a friend, a classmate.
For you, that was enough.
You sipped your tea as Megumi started the scary movie, unaware that Yuji was tenser than he’d ever been before. Unaware that he was incapable of paying attention to the movie, his thoughts full of you.
WHAT WAS THIS MOVIE? Yuji wouldn’t be able to tell anyone even if it meant life or death for him. Maybe it was demons or about a haunted house, but Yuji could not seem to keep his mind from wandering to you.
You, who sat so close and yet so far away. You, who looked at him with such surprise and happiness as you took the tea he’d made for you.
Yuji wouldn’t even be able to explain why he made you tea in the first place. It wasn’t like he’d ever made you tea before. He’d seen you make it on multiple occasions, but never once thought to make it for you. Until tonight.
There were a lot of things he hadn’t thought of until very recently. Like the way you tossed your hair up before you fought or the way your hands grasped your daggers. Or even the way you smiled into a book you were reading. And he especially hadn’t thought of how soft your lips looked at the rim of your mug.
With the lights off in the room, Yuji felt charged. Electric. He felt as if he shifted the wrong way, you would shift away from him too. You were so close and you smelled so lovely. Like vanilla and sugar. Yuji found that he could probably pick you out even in a crowd of people, just by your scent.
You like her, you brat. Sukuna’s voice rang in Yuji’s mind and he fought the urge to glance at you.
Of course I like her. She’s a good person.
No, not like that, you imbecile. More than that. You want to ravage her. Hold her. Kiss her.
I don’t! T-that’s not it. Don’t talk about her that way.
Why not? You do, don’t kid yourself. She is out of your league though, you’d make a fool of yourself. You should let me take over.
Like hell! Don’t you dare say anything like that to her. I’m serious.
Whatever, brat.
This time, Yuji did glance at you only to find you with your eyes narrowed at the screen, lost in the movie. Internally, Yuji breathed a sigh of relief. Nothing out of the ordinary, but two friends watching a movie with their other two friends.
A quick glance at Fushiguro and Kugisaki told him that they were actually asleep. Fushiguro’s head was tipped against the backside of his chair, mouth open and small snores sounding from his side of the room. Kugisaki was curled up with her hands under her head, facing the tv.
It was only him and you awake.
If at all possible, Yuji felt more alert than before. He feared Sukuna might be right and he might actually have developed feelings more than friendship for you. Why else would he see you in almost everything he did lately? Why else did he suddenly not know how to act around you?
“Yuji?”
His eyes snapped back to you and found you were watching him with a strange expression, your eyes wide and brows knit together.
“Are you okay?” you asked, setting your now empty mug down on the coffee table, still eyeing him.
“Huh? Yeah, of course,” he responded, trying to keep his eyes from wandering to where your blanket had shifted over your legs. A portion of the skin of your thigh peeked from under the blanket and Yuji quickly looked away. “Why do you ask?”
“Your energy’s all over the place. And you’re fidgety.”
“Oh, I just got a little scared of the movie.”
“Should we turn it off? Maybe go to bed? Megumi and Nobara are already ahead of us,” you said with a fond smile.
“No,” Yuji shifted in his seat and his response was perhaps just a bit too quick because you blinked at him in surprise. “I mean, let’s just finish the movie, yeah? I hate to start something and not finish it.”
You laughed under your breath and Yuji wished he’d said something funny so he could hear your laugh for real. He found himself sometimes thinking of that laugh at random times of the day or when you weren't near. You turned back to the movie with a shrug.
You’re pathetic, brat.
Will you mind your own business?
As long as you are my vessel, your business is my business.
Yuji shook his head  to clear it of Sukuna’s voice. The last thing he wanted was to listen to any of the bullshit Sukuna would undoubtedly continue to throw at him.
The both of you grew silent and you fell more interested in the movie. Occasionally you would react to a jump scare and knock your knee into his only to follow up with an apologetic smile and a whispered “sorry”. Yuji wanted to tell you that it was alright, that you could bump his knee as many times as you wanted and he wouldn’t mind. But he didn’t. He kept his mouth shut and his hands firmly clasped in his lap.
As a woman screamed on screen and you clutched your blanket a little tighter, Yuji’s mind wandered to the day he realized he might have feelings for you. It had been a warm sunny day and Gojo had insisted his students enjoy it.
Training had been canceled and Gojo had taken the four of you to a park, declaring it was the perfect weather for a picnic. You’d shown up with Kugisaki in a dress Yuji would later find out was something called a sundress and had pulled your hair back with little pieces framing your face. You’d seemed so happy sitting next to Fushiguro, tilting your face toward the sun and closing your eyes, taking in the warmth like a cat in a window. It had really been the first time that Yuji noticed how pretty you were and his heart had missed a beat when you cracked an eye open, looked his way, and gave him the most open smile he’d ever seen you give.
Since then, Yuji had scarcely thought of anything else.
Well, that, and the fact that he wondered what it would feel like to be close to you. To embrace you, hold you in his arms and bury his face in the crook of your neck. He didn’t want to agree with Sukuna, but some part of Yuji wanted to also slip his fingers into your hair and kiss your breathless.
You let out a yawn and Yuji was pulled back to the present. On the tv, the credits were rolling. Yuji didn’t move for a moment, afraid if he stood it would be very apparent where his mind had been and he was grateful he’d placed his hands in his lap earlier.
“Did you like the movie?” you asked, stretching your arms over your head. The t-shirt you wore lifted at your waistline and a bit of the skin of your stomach was exposed.
Yuji's face burned and he cleared his throat. “Yeah, I did! Great movie.”
“Funny, because I feel like you were barely paying attention. You seemed so far away. Are you sure you’re alright?”
Always like you to be thinking of others. Yuji had always liked that you had a sweet heart and kind soul. It made him feel at peace, as if he could be near you for hours, days, months, and be completely content in your presence. Yuji felt his face split into a smile.
“I’m alright, ____. Promise.”
“Hmm,” you pondered his statement with narrowed eyes. “Okay. If you say so.”
You stood and folded the blanket, laying it back down on the couch. Yuji was beginning to feel the pressure between his legs subside so he stood as well, collecting the bowls and mug from the table.
Together, you both cleaned up the common room and got yourselves ready to go back to your rooms, deciding it would be more trouble to wake Fushiguro and Kugisaki than to just leave them to rest. Yuji walked you to your door, his pace slower than usual. In his heart, he knew he didn’t want to really end the night but it was so late and he had no more excuses to spend time with you.
Far too soon, they were at your door.
“Thanks for the movie night, Yuji. And the tea,” you said, yawning once more as you opened your door.
“You’re welcome! Thanks for staying up, I know you’re tired.”
“It was worth it.”
You said that last bit while glancing up at him then down to his lips before you quickly looked away. Yuji's stomach swooped and he swore he was imaging the sweet blush creeping across your cheeks. He had to be. Right?
Almost as if his arm had a mind of its own, he reached out slowly and ran a thumb across your bottom lip. Softly, tentatively, giving you the space to pull away if you wanted to.
It would be so easy to lean down and capture your lips with his, but he’d never kissed anyone before and he was terrified of messing it up. You were so kind and so sweet, how could he still be thinking of pushing you up against a wall, your legs around his middle, and his mouth on your neck?
I told you, kid.
Shut up!
He couldn’t, he shouldn’t, be thinking of things like that. He was a sorcerer, after all, and Sukuna’s vessel. It would be reckless to get involved with someone. What if his feelings grew into something more? Gods, what if you liked him back? He’d already seen the effects of what his first death had done to you, Kugisaki and Fushiguro. His inevitable execution would be far worse. How could he entertain becoming romantically involved with you, only to leave you?
“Yuji?”
Your eyes bore into his and Yuji forced himself to pull away. His breathing had turned ragged then faltered when you followed his thumb as he pulled away, stepping closer to him. Your vanilla and sugar scent was entrancing, causing Yuji to take a slow, deep breath.
He had to go. He knew it, but the look on your face held him in his place.
Your eyes were half open and your lips were parted. They beckoned him, soft and inviting, and Yuji leaned forward. You were close enough to share breath, noses lightly knocking against each other.
You reached up and placed a hand on the side of his face, thumb brushing over Sukuna’s closed eye and although a shiver passed through Yuji, that movement seemed to bring a moment of clarity. The reminder of who he was and what resided inside him. Although he felt as if he’d been doused with cool water by your touch, Yuji stepped away.
“I-I’m sorry. I should go,” he said, voice a bit gravely.
“No, I’m sorry,” you responded quickly, stepping back and creating more distance. An ache bloomed in his chest at the panic in your voice. “I completely misread the situation.”
“No, it’s my fault I shouldn’t have touched your lip, but you looked so pretty and I—”
Yuji cut himself off before he could begin rambling. Did he really just admit that to you? Gods, there would be no turning back from this. He should leave and leave now. Heart hammering in his chest, Yuji lifted a hand in farewell and said, “Ah, sorry again. I’m leaving now, see you in the morning.”
Not waiting for your response, he turned and began retreating down the hallway.
Some part of him felt like a coward for not staying to, what was the phrase he’d used earlier? Finish what he started? But his nerves and anxious thoughts won.
He was almost at the end of the hall when your voice drifted to his ears.
“You think I look pretty?”
Yuji stopped and turned around so he could see you. You were where he left you, in the doorway to your room, one hand clutching the front of your shirt. Even at this distance he could see the question in your eyes. He didn’t waste time in thinking of any other response than the truth. He’d already dug himself a hole anyway, he might as well lie in it.
“All the time. I think you’re beautiful, actually. Your heart and your mind too.”
It was more than he wanted to say, more than he thought he’d say, but it was worth it to see the bright smile that stretched across your whole face. It quite literally almost took his breath away. If Yuji had known he’d see that smile if he told you how lovely he thought you were, he would have told you sooner.
“You really are a sweetheart, aren’t you?”, you responded, still smiling.
Warmth spread through Yuji and he fought the urge to run back to you, wrap you in his arms and lay with you until the sun came up. Instead, he scratched the back of his neck, a little embarrassed of his thoughts.
“Hah. Guess so. Thanks.”
“Goodnight, Yuji.”
“Yeah. Goodnight, ____.”
NEEDLESS TO SAY, you did not get much sleep after Yuji left. Perhaps an hour, maybe two. It had been difficult for you to close your eyes and not see Yuji’s eyes darken as he touched your lip or when you had been so close you could hear his breathing pick up and stutter. It seemed you had been wrong in your assessment that Yuji would reject you. Clearly, he at least wanted to kiss you if not anything else.
This did not help. It only brought up new questions and new fears. What if he only wanted to kiss you? It should scare you that you would really take anything Yuji was willing to give, even if it was only a kiss.
The car ride to the abandoned building’s location had been tense. Yuji sat in the passenger seat and you sat between Nobara and Megumi in the back seat. Nobara had practically shoved you into the center without a word and had barely spared you or Megumi a glance. You thought maybe she was upset that you hadn’t woken her up to go to bed, so you apologized.
“Huh?” Nobara turned to face you after having been staring out of the window for a while. “Why are you apologizing?”
“You’re not upset that Yuji and I didn’t wake you or Megumi?”
“What? No, I would have done the same. Don’t worry about it.”
“Hmm. Okay.”
Megumi shifted in the seat next to you and continued to stare out of his own window. You noticed a bit of pink dusted his cheeks and his hand was fisted tightly on his leg. Nobara glanced his way, looked at you, then quickly looked away, pink on her cheeks as well. You weren’t sure what to make of that, but you vowed to ask Nobara about it without Megumi around.
Everyone in the car was silent for the remainder of the ride.
When it came time to search for Sukuna’s finger, you all decided to split into pairs. Nobara clung to Yuji, spinning him away in the opposite direction, a wave thrown over her shoulder. Yuji smiled at you and wished both you and Megumi luck. You felt a familiar ache in your chest and wished him luck as well. Odds were, there would be trouble.
The building looked as though it used to be an office with many floors and many rooms to search through. For a while, you and Megumi didn’t find anything of much value. Just a few low level curses and lots of cobwebs.
“You know,” you began after a while. Megumi tilted his head in your direction while keeping his eyes ahead so you knew he was listening. “I have a bad feeling about all of this. Do you feel like we’re going to find a higher level curse?”
“Of course, with Sukuna’s fingers, we’re bound to run into something bigger.”
You held your daggers closer to yourself, adrenaline running through your veins. Megumi’s calm and collected presence never failed to keep you composed as well, but you could not shake the sickly feeling that washed over you as you both entered what used to be a cafeteria. It was quiet, at first, before a shrill laughter filled the air.
Perhaps you had spoken it into existence, or perhaps you were destined to stumble upon a special grade curse, but whatever the case was, it was there. Almost as if waiting for you.
“Shit,” Megumi breathed.
“Sorry, definitely my fault.”
Megumi huffed a small laugh and summoned his shikigami. You raised your daggers and steeled your nerves for the fight ahead. The curse came at you full force. It was strong and relished in toying with the both of you. It was difficult to keep up with it, but you tried your hardest to cause at least a bit of damage. And you did, doing your best to protect Megumi’s right side as he became injured.
Your body was screaming at you as you tired, but you pushed through. You knew the special grade was too much for the both of you and it became especially apparent when you were hit square in the chest, knocking you back against the wall on the other side of the cafeteria. Megumi yelled your name and sent Nue your way, but the shikigami was not fast enough.
Before you fell from the wall, the curse had you by your throat, holding you upright. Its cursed energy felt like whips against your skin and you vaguely thought of the scars you’d have after this fight. If you made it out of this fight. The curse laughed once again, loud and piercing, even as Nue tore into its being. You screamed in turn and slammed your dagger into its chest.
Because of the curse still at your throat, you could hardly breathe, clawing at the curse and not finding purchase. You were becoming lightheaded and black spots were starting to appear in your vision. Against your will, your eyes were closing and you began drifting into unconsciousness.
Vaguely, you saw a flash of pink hair from the corner of your eye.
“Yuji?” you croaked, eyes sliding to the sorcerer running in your direction. Only, he looked different. The black lines on his skin told you who was in control at the moment.
The curse was knocked away by a powerful punch to the face and you fell to your knees. You glanced up at Yuji — at Sukuna — who was already watching you with dark eyes.
“Hello, darling.”
You coughed and you doubled over, blood spilled from your lips. Sukuna made a low noise in his throat, turning away and dashing to where the curse was recovering.
“No, no you don’t. You don’t get to touch what’s mine without consequence.”
The sight of Sukuna destroying the special grade curse was that last thing you saw before you fell forward to the floor, face first, and the darkness engulfed you.
AS SOON AS YOU opened your eyes, you wanted to shut them again. The sunlight that shone through the window was blinding and it seemed as though you had a headache. You were delicately tucked into a bed in the infirmary, covered up to your chin and fluffy pillows under your head. Your throat felt parched and you licked your dry lips.
Gazing around the room, your eyes fell on a familiar looking head of pink hair that was snoozing at the end of your bed. Yuji had one arm tucked under his head and the other outstretched toward you, fingers twitching.
Sleeping like that, he looked so peaceful. So calm, so handsome. You didn’t want to wake him, but you were so thirsty. Pulling an arm from your blanket, you reached out and brushed a few of your bandaged fingers over Yuji’s. Once, twice, and a third time. His fingers twitched again and he let out a sleepy sigh.
Your mind was suddenly flooded with images of Sukuna essentially coming to your rescue. Claiming you in front of a special grade and Megumi. Probably Nobara as well. A shiver passed through you, but it was not one of discomfort. You wondered if Yuji even knew what Sukuna had said.
“Yuji,” you whispered, voice hoarse from misuse. “Hey, sunshine. Wake up.”
At the sound of your voice, even low as it was, Yuji’s head popped up, eyes searching for you. When he saw that you were awake, he rushed to your side, eyes skimming your face. He looked panicked and your heart ached for him.
“I’m so glad you’re awake. How do you feel?”
“Thirsty.”
“Right, water, got it.”
Yuji hurried to the opposite side of the room and you closed your eyes to hide from the sun. The soft sounds of glass clinking and water being poured filled your ears and a soft smile crept onto your face. There was some shuffling then you felt Yuji’s rough hand lifting your own to give you the glass.
You cracked an eye open and accepted the glass, drinking it down in large gulps. The water felt wonderful going down your throat and you breathed a content sigh. Yuji took the glass from you and set it aside.
“Can you close the curtains, Yuji? My head is killing me, I can barely think.”
“On it.”
Yuji swiftly closed the curtains and the room became shady. He looked beautiful in the soft glow of the light peaking through the curtains and you gave him a small thumbs up. He sighed in relief and placed his chair closer to you, his warm eyes searching your face.
“Megumi and Nobara?” you asked, reaching for his hand. You noticed how truly banaged you were, the cloth wrapping from your fingertips to your elbows. You also felt a smaller bandage across your nose. Yuji took your hand in his own, thumb brushing over your knuckles softly. He glanced down at your joined hands, a flush blooming across his cheeks.
“Alright. Fushiguro was cleared to leave the infirmary just yesterday. Kugisaki barely had any injuries. They’re out getting food now, but they’ll be back.”
“And you?”
“I’m okay too,” he responded brightly, flashing you a quick smile before it faltered and he glanced away. “Listen, I wanted to talk to you. Fushiguro told me that Sukuna said…something kinda intense.”
“He did,” you replied. Blinking sleepily, you shrugged. You hadn’t expected Yuji to come right out to talk about it, especially while you were still laying in recovery, but there was an urgency in his voice you couldn’t ignore. It was almost as if he wanted to clear the air before anything else. Yuji had never been one for ignoring something necessary anyway.
“I think it might have been my fault. I don’t know how, but I think Sukuna feels my feelings and he translates them in his own way. When I saw you in trouble, I—”
You gently squeezed his hand, urging him to continue. Your heart was beating rapidly and you weren’t sure how long you would be able to contain yourself from your own confession.
“I kinda lost it. Not because you can’t handle curses on your own, but because I had this overwhelming feeling of dread. Like I had to help, no matter what. I couldn’t think of anything else besides just making sure you were safe, out of danger. So I’m sorry Sukuna went left field. He likes you, a lot.”
You sighed and you wondered if he could hear how fast your heart was hammering in your chest. “It wasn’t unwelcome, Yuji.”
His eyes snapped back to yours and he leaned forward. He looked like he would hang on any word you said.
“A little surprising, I guess, but not unwelcome,” you said again. You pulled your hand from his, only to place it on his cheek, thumb brushing over one of Sukuna’s eyes like you had the night before. Yuji’s eyes became half-lidded and he leaned into your palm. “I like him too, I think. I like you. More than a friend should, anyway. I hope it’s not weird I’m telling you.”
Yuji’s eyes became wide and he inhaled quickly, clearly surprised.
“You…like me?”
“Yes. You don’t have to say anything back.I just had to get it off my chest, because I—”
You were cut off by Yuji’s lips finding your own. Soft and gentle, but firm enough to show his eagerness to be close to you. His eyes were closed, eyebrows knit together as he brought a callused palm to your cheek, just as you were still holding him. You melted into his hand, into the kiss, and closed your own eyes.
Kissing Yuji left like a summer’s day, tilting your face up to the sun to enjoy its warmth. A tightness you hadn’t realized was in your chest eased as Yuji’s lips moved in time with yours. You’d never kissed anyone before, but you were thankful that he was the first one. You kissed until you were both breathless and Yuji pulled away, a smile on his face as he took deep breaths. You smiled in turn.
“I like you too,  ____. I can hardly think of anything else.” Yuji said in a whisper, voice so low that if he wasn’t so close to you, you might not have heard him. He pressed his forehead against yours, sighing softly.
Something awakened in you at his words, his low voice, his breathlessness. You had a sudden image of him visiting your room and engulfing you in his arms, kissing you as he pressed you against a wall. Or your bed. Your cheeks warmed at the thought.
Yuji pressed his lips to yours again, thumb brushing your cheeks and it was all you could do not to pull him into the bed with you.
“Finally, you brat. You can thank me for this later, darling.”
A loud smack could be heard, and Yuji pulled away, a hand clamped down over Sukuna’s mouth that had spoken. Yuji gave you a sheepish smile.
A real, full laugh escaped your lips and you turned to kiss the palm still at your cheek.
“He’s right, you know. If it weren’t for him, I might have been pining forever.”
Yuji laughed, a small embarrassed huff. “Me too,  ____. Me too.”
Megumi and Nobara showed up slightly after that, neither one of them looking surprised at Yuji’s hand in your own, just like you weren’t surprised to see the hand Megumi had on Nobara’s lower back, guiding her into the room.

“Oh, Nanaminnnn!”
At the familiar, cheery voice, Kento looks up to see no one other than Satoru Gojo, leaning against the doorframe of his office with his usual grin. “Saw with my Six Eyes that you came to fill out those reports here instead of doing it from home. Been so long since you showed your face here and—” He cuts himself off with an excited gasp, then walks closer as his smile grows wider. “You brought my little mochi!”
In Kento’s left arm, his daughter—who had woken up from her nap about ten minutes ago—coos excitedly when Satoru enters her vision, reaching her hands towards him. “Well, hello there, sweetheart! I was wondering when I’d see you again!” He slides his hands under her plush arms, then picks her up, skillfully—and safely, Kento notes—holding her in his arms. Tiny hands brush against Satoru’s blindfold, and he lifts it so his niece can see his blue eyes. They immediately soften when the baby girl laughs when he gently tickles her tummy.
It’s so cute that Kento can’t stop the corner of his mouth from lifting.
“Wait—Did I hear that right?! Nanamin’s here?!”
“Itadori, wait for us!”
“Kugisaki, you dropped your bag—Oh, come on, guys, slow down!”
Rapid footsteps approach, then the three first years appear at the door, gasping in unison.
“Oh, my gosh!” Yuuji, the pink-haired teenager shouts as he points at the baby in Satoru’s arms. “Nanamin, when did you have a baby?!”
Nobara’s question comes a split-second after Yuuji’s is finished. “Is that why [Y/L/N]-sensei quit a while ago?!”
Megumi walks to stand beside Satoru to analyze the little bundle in his teacher’s arms. “She’s… adorable.” He mumbles, gently smiling when she wraps her hand around his finger. “Very adorable. She has [Y/L/N]-sensei’s laugh.”
“Isn’t she just so precious?” Satoru asks, proudly showing her off to the first years. “So sweet and friendly, just like her Uncle Gojo.”
“Hopefully she won’t be as reckless as you,” Kento says as he holds his hands out, and Satoru returns his daughter to him. “[Y/N] and I already believe that she’ll be the exact opposite of me.”
Yuuji sits beside Kento to get a closer look at her. “She’s so cute. How old is she, Nanamin?”
“Four months as of yesterday.”
Nobara crosses her arms and pouts. “How come only he knew?” She asks, gesturing to Satoru.
“Well, when I had to go away on a long mission, she was only a month old,” Kento explains. “He kept an eye on her and [Y/N] for me; made sure that they were both safe. I’m very grateful. We had plans to tell you about our daughter soon.”
“Where is she now?” Megumi asks.
“At home. I wanted her to have the morning and most of the afternoon to herself. I’ll be heading back shortly.”
Satoru and the students share similar looks with each other, and Kento knows what they want to ask. He pulls out his phone and dials your number. “Hi, baby,” you greet when the line connects, “how’s our girl?”
“Hi, love. She’s amazing, as always,” he says as he looks down, playfully poking the little one’s nose. “I’m with Gojo and our students. They want to know if it’s alright to come and see you.”
“We’ll cook dinner if you’re too tired!” Nobara chimes in hopefully.
“Actually, better yet, I can just order something for everyone,” Satoru suggests.
“And we’ll clean up,” Yuuji and Megumi say at the same time.
You laugh, then answer Kento, “That’s more than alright. Bring them here.”
“Thought you’d say that. See you in a bit.”
“Yes!” Yuuji cheers. “Alright, I’m gonna ride with Nanamin so I can sit next to the baby!”
Nobara glares at him. “Not if I get to the car first!!”
When they sprint out the door, Megumi groans before rushing after them. “Didn’t I just tell you guys to slow down? We’re going to the same place!”
Satoru laughs, then waits for Kento to finish up so they can walk out together.
there was an ask in my inbox requesting a cute drabble for dad! nanami ft. gojo (as a trusted friend of his) and the first years, but it disappeared. hope u like it, anon <3

i want to ride yuuji so bad and then start crying cause he’s so thick and big and then have his strong arms wrap around me and then he starts thrusting up and we’re both drooling and moaning that would be a dream
18+ MDNI, fem!reader // cw: good girl, good girl, GOOD GIRL!
Tumblr media
he’s cooing at you while caressing your cheeks and wiping your tears away, and it’s all so goddamn sweet that it outright hurts; in a good way, though.
always in a good way when it’s with him.
especially because he does it so effortlessly? being kind is like second nature to someone like yuuji and it’s hard not to melt into a puddle of gooey emotions and spill even more tears when he’s looking up at you with hearts in his warm honey-coloured eyes and there’s this prominently lovestruck look on his face that makes him look even dumber than he already is.
but he’s also cute, awfully so. his hair is an absolute mess, his lips are in the colour of dark pink from all the kissing, his cheeks are flushed, and his skin burns so hot that he’s sweating like crazy underneath the thick hoodie that he’s still got on. you’ve been in such a rush to get him inside you that you’re both still completely dressed, aside from the bits of clothing that have been tugged down and pushed to the side in order to make the entire thing easier for you, of course.
however, having all these layers on is simply excruciating. the heat makes him pant and causes his chest to heave in a faster rhythm than normal; and all those breaths make it somewhat hard to get all the praise that he feels for you out of his system.
but yuuji is no quitter. so he swallows the runny saliva that keeps on gathering in his mouth between sentences and threatens to spill past the corner of his lips. it’s audible and it makes his adam’s apple bob in his throat, and yet he still manages to thank you in hushed, trembling whispers and broken grunts and moans.
he thanks you for being such a good girlfriend; for being so willing to give it a chance when it comes to riding him and taking him in all the way, despite the fact that it’s only been a couple of days since he’s taken your virginity and your most sensitive parts are still sore and tender from all the gentle pounding — but pounding nevertheless — he had done after getting his first taste.
you feel heat sear your face as you listen to the jumble of gratitude he’s putting before you and look at him from underneath your lashes, trying to not pay mind how tears still cling to them as stubbornly as ever.
this entire thing has not gone the way you’ve imagined it to go at all and it’s frustrating as hell. and how couldn’t it be? i mean, you’ve known how big he is, have known how it feels to have him inside you, but jesus fucking christ, this position is nowhere as easy as missionary had been — and even then you’d struggled a great deal.
because now, you’re the one who has to do all the work while he sits there, looking pretty, sometimes eyeing how your arousal glistens on his pubic hair, even though your clit hasn’t come anywhere near to kissing the spot from how much of a hard time you’re having when it comes to sitting on his dick entirely.
if only you could just—
“hey,” he says the word with such care as he cups your cheek that it sends butterflies twirling in your belly. his hand is just so big, it urges you to pet yourself against it like a little kitty. “you okay?” yet another look that’s brimming with concern is thrown your way. “we don’t have to do this if it’s too much, you know… just tell me.”
“did you really mean all that?” you mumble the exact moment his hands reach for your hips, clearly aiming to manhandle you into a position that you’d be able to endure a bit better.
“mean what?” he asks, glancing downwards just for a second as your hands stop his own. his cock twitches in response — he’s always been such a sucker for hand holding and this time is no exception. when your fingers intertwine, his heart sings in answer.
“that i’m a good girl?” the eye contact that you initiate in return is determined instead of anxious all of a sudden and it makes his pupils visibly dilate right in front of you.
it seems like you’re no quitter either.
“‘course i did,” yuuji replies in a heartbeat, cherishing how you squeeze around him whenever he gives you his approval, his praise. “you’re such a good girl, my good girl, the goodest girl to ever walk the good girl planet... they should make you mayor of goodie town.”
you giggle at that and his smile quivers with pleasure from how it makes your pussy tighten even more. he’s doing everything he can not to grab you, press you against his chest and just follow instinct and start slamming away.
maybe next time… maybe you’ll be ready for it next time.
“you’re so silly,” you whisper, leaning in to kiss him again, though this time on the forehead. his skin tastes salty, and while it may be wrong, knowing that you’re not the only one that’s having a hard time right now makes you feel just a little bit calmer.
unbeknownst to you, the fact that you’re more relaxed allows you to take yet another inch of him inside you. your muscles slacken and his fat cockhead drags against your walls as a result, slipping and pushing in, in, in. the ring of cloudy white slick forms just a little below the lower half of his cock now, stretching you further and making your tummy feel hot and tingly.
it’s definitely progress.
and it makes poor yuuji moan straight into your mouth.

(no thoughts just thinking of beefy virgin yuuji who don’t know how to use his insanely big dick….)
hed be incoherently blabbering while you stroke his cock, yuuji never had anyone touch down there so you know for a fact hes cumming on the spot for the first time. his cum is thick too and in crazy large amounts due to how much accumulated from him barely ever touching himself.
his hands would tug his own hair from how good it felt as drool dribbled down his chin. did he ascend? is he in heaven right now? why does he feel like hes about to pass out? why has he been so late to such pleasure in his life and why the hell are you so good at this?
questions would clog his brain making his feel senses feel all the more muddy. “h–holy, god, please…!”
“god isnt touching you yuuji, say my name.” you growled, palming his tip.
“[name], [name], [name]…!” yuuji cried out your name like a prayer. his chest heaved making his chest seem even bigger than before.
even with both your hands massaging his cock, there was still more. the only word describe how you felt was glee. sheer unadulterated glee. youd enjoy taking this man apart.
experimentally, you licked a bead of precum forming on his tip.
“wa–wait, [name]!”
then your lips pursed on his tip, swirling your tongue.
“its dirty! d–don’t–“ his pleas fell on empty ears, you leaned down taking it into the whole expanse of your mouth till it hit the back of your throat. not only was his shaft long, but wide. the girth made your jaw ache.
it was out of character for yuuji to be silent this long. you peered up through your eyelashes and he was passed out. tears tracking and drool glistening his face.
maybe that was too much for his first time…
