Live Commentary Ohhhh, what a lovely throwback to see Wakana in her 1st album dress. She looks beautiful😍

1.揺れる春 (Yureru Haru): Surprised by how much I like Wakana's high notes here. Usually I am not a huge fan. Very solid performance. 2.翼 (Tsubasa): Saku-chan's piano arrangement is lovely and Wakana is slaying as she always does with this song. MC: Pleasantly surprised to see her taking a longer break to talk to us. I feared this would be a somewhat rushed event with just a couple songs being performed. She is even reading through some of the comments. 3.愛の花 (Ai no Hana): *sobs* So happy to hear this again. It's one of my all-time favourites. Wa's voice was a bit shaky but she knocked it out of the park at the end. The oooh part killed me. Goosebumps all over. 4.アキノサクラ (Aki no Sakura): Hearing it live always makes me appreciate the song a bit more. Very nice! MC 5.オレンジ (Orange): The bridge was absolutely perfect. MC: Yay, we are gettng a Kalafina cover, honestly did not expect that. Wakana says she has a lot of fond memories of the recording when the three of them and Saku-chan all got together at the studio to record their parts. 6. 春を待つ (Haru wo Matsu): Waahhhh, this was even better than her performance from the "magic moment" live 7.標 (Shirushi): Always beautiful, especially in such an intimate setting. Her vocals are flawless here. MC: Now I need to get back to work so I can't continue watching. Will have to get back to this later. Thank God we are getting an archived version.TBC~ 8.金木犀 (Kinmokusei): First "Ai no Hana" and now "Kinmokusei"! Two of my faves. hcpc is often criticized for its repetitive designs and i sorta agree... but at least they were creative with international cures designs (aloha and bomber girls are my favourite, also im glad to see a cure from my country !!!! cure katyusha <3) and form changes AND FOREVER LOVELY DESIGN JUST SLAYS. SHE LOOKS LIKE A LITERAL ANGEL

also maybe theres a meaning behind the similar designs??? like, all the cures all over the world have similar costumes and it can symbolize they have a lot in common, theyre unite, they are a million-cure team .. while the phantom generals are all different, there's nothing uniting them, there's no team spirit or friendship between them

also the soundtrack is so good and catchy !!!!! i adore the opening and the rice song (and especially honey and hosshiwa's song battle) and the innocent song !!!!

i love the message of hcpc that everyone is worthy to be happy and loved, even if youre in deep despair, disappointed in life, thinking you'll never be loved and thus love is worth nothing - someone is always going to be here for you

but at the same time it points out that love can be a destructive force (red, mirage, dark seiji), that its impossible to be happy all the time, that feeling pain and hate is valid

23.5 ep 1 initial reaction!!!

Been waiting for this one!!!! I’m so excited!!! I love consuming queer media because I’m a lesbian. But there is very sapphic content that I have really enjoyed. Too often it’s unrealistic fetishized toxic red flag material. While high school slice of life isn’t my favorite genre I’m ready for this!! I’m very happy with ep 1 very relatable interesting stylized characters.

Let’s get into the photo review!!!! I didn’t take a ton so don’t expect this too get too wordy

I like how they play with anonymity getting to know someone without fully seeing them or the situation. Starting off scene one. I find it interesting that Sun is always moving to Ongsa it’s very sweet. She’s the one who gets up seeks Ongsa again and again.

Are you a true loser if you haven’t had a mental breakdown in the toilet? 😭 recently I had a panic attack made it to the restroom to hide the effects then accidentally left my BTS Wings tour hat in there. Panic fog is real. But been doing it since high school. Ongsa needs to perfect the quiet melt down lmao.

Sun is so precious. I guess it’s because the show is from Ongsa’s POV but I’m stunned and in love too. She’s really trying her best to be a good person. She finds Ongsa magnetic. It’s not overstated.

Gahhh Ongsa’s nerd happiness is so cute. She must be protected at all costs she can do nothing wrong. Just want to boop her and Latte’s nose.

Awwww Aylin’s advice and defense mechanism is very sweet her looks are Iconic. She says Just be yourself. But then she’s looking for aliens because her classmates says she is one. 😭 painful. But she owns it. I’m jealous.

Big sister squad assemble. The filming thing does make me feel old. I’m sure this is how high schools are these days. I mean people bullied using social media when I was in high school but it wasn’t yet invasive filming. But!! Bullying feels the same. Impersonal. For personal gain.

Also a little confused as to why Ongsa lived in Phuket while her sister was going to school here.

I adore how Sun is falling in love with Ongsa slowly by enjoying her personality and humor. Just as the thing Ongsa loves about Sun is how positive and caring she is. Although Ongsa does already find Sun B E A U T I F U L. Can’t blame her. But Sun intelligently connecting to Ongsa is finding a path to who she really is

Which makes the texting scenes so beautiful. Sun is in Ongsa’s world. I adore the other worldness they are together seeing who they really are. Two beautiful souls trying to connect.

(silly is a big requirement. hashtag pretzel indeed) family vibes. we need more of them post-canon. i always want to write more but sometimes i have a hard time getting the thoughts to make sense in words. what i started trying to do was stuff about babybea's back to school night, which was actually like, becoming less about family and more about, the place of lemony's books in the public consciousness of the snicketverse society, but i was not in the mood to address the complicated vibes of 'i mean, people had to witness some of this stuff, but i also think it's the most ideal, in terms of humor and also, How Terrible People Are, if they don't believe it really happened.' and that's just, a lot of complicated things to parse out (and part of what i want to get into in my sunny fic................eventually.............). ANYWAY. i really did just want to write about this family. i hold them very dear in my heart. nothing i love more than post-canon slow imperfect but glorious happiness.

also, i did not intend to write about frank? frank is the denouement i think about the least (sorry, frank) (i just enjoy rotating ernest around in my head so much..........). but idk, it felt like it needed to be his moment with his niece and his decision about the pumpkin. i think he and babybea get along better, from this point on. he's less nervous around her. they do more ships in bottles together, and probably big puzzles. like, 1000-piece puzzles. sometimes i also think i write babybea as not quite as old as she actually would be at this point, like, fuck does she act twelve???? (but also, she's been through a lot.) but i also think she really does keep a great deal of like. childhood joy in her, all throughout her life. she really deserves that, too.

oh, you know what..........i gotta get ramona into this at some point too. i keep MEANING too but there is always so much to discuss post-canon that i still haven't managed to get her in yet. my apologies as well, r.........

Though I can't help but think that if Mr Hong were a smart writer, he'd have a backlog of stories alraedy written so that in case of emergency he could just share those. But then he wouldn't be able to lure a lady into taking dictation for him, so I suppose he thinks he's made the right (write?) choice here. While the direct abuse of authority and trust part that usually bothers me is less on display, the history is clear, and I've known too many folk who have been poorly treated in academia to be entirely comfortable with how this is set up. Add in a level of derison at an accurate summation of what's going on, the clear manipulation in play, and it just doesn't work for me. But if those are tropes you enjoy, give it a look? 6/10 spirals

So I think Ahri would be honest about meeting Johnny and falling in love with him…. But I think rather than explaining when/how everyone else fell in love, she explains why…. Just cause that’s more PG and easier to explain to a kid who just wants to see her dads as princes who swooped her mom off her feet— Which they did.

She says that she fell in love with Taeyong because of his kindness, and the way he cares for everyone else, and his dedication to things once he has his mind set on something…. And ofc Ahri couldn’t help but find Taeyong’s silly laugh to be the most precious thing, especially when he’s laughing over something really stupid that shows his humor is broken.

She fell in love with Yuta because of his smile, and the way that he isn’t as scary as everyone made him seem. When Ahri was just starting to dare Johnny, she was lowkey scared of Yuta because she thought he hated her….. but in reality, he was just jealous of Johnny, so he never smiled at Ahri. But once they started dating, all Yuta ever did was smile with his millions of teeth showing, and he’d nuzzle Ahri like a cat looking for attention. The fact that he goes around looking all cold and stone faced but in reality he’s the biggest sweet heart in the world made Ahri swoon, because he was their sweetheart awwww.

With Doyoung, I think Ahri feels more comfortable explaining how they fell in love since that’s a more PG story? But she has to change some details? But it was Doyoung’s shyness that caught Ahri so off guard— “Appa’s not shy, eoma.” “No, he’s not. But he was once. Around me.” And that’s cuz he had the BIGGEST crush on her and didn’t want anyone to know. So once he came out of his shell, he was like this burst of life that Ahri couldn’t keep up with, but she loves a challenge, and she loved getting to know everything about him, so she was completely taken by the way he talked, his old man laugh that he’d let out whenever he was nervous, his gummy smile, and his eyes….. His eyelashes specifically. Ahri could stare at them all day while Doyoung talked her ear off.

Jaehyun’s humor just about did it for Ahri. The second he cracked a cringey joke and then let out a loud grandpa sneeze, Ahri knew that she was in love with an idiot, but at least he was her idiot. He’s the most gentleman out of all of them— The real knight in shining armor type of romantic who wooed Ahri with flowers, chocolates, constant date nights, and he was the first to say “I love you” after the polycule began (so not the first to say it, cuz obviously that was Johnny).

Jungwoo’s young humor…….. that’s the only PG way Ahri can phrase it. Because the reality is that she fell in love with his brattiness……. but she can’t say that. So neglecting that info, it was how he used his humor to protect himself and everyone else that made Ahri stop and think about Jungwoo as more than just a fuck buddy (she doesn’t tell Reyna that lol). Jungwoo grew up in bad circumstances so his coping mechanism has always been his humor and trying to make others laugh, which always works on Ahri— And she knows that despite everything, he’s one of the most dedicated when it comes to making sure their home is a safe place, that their kids will want for nothing, that everyone will only ever laugh and have fun together…. Ahri loves him so much for that. Her heart feels so full when she comes home to find Jungwoo coloring with Reyna or doing airplanes with Jooha.

Mark’s loyalty, dedication, and hard work made Ahri fall in love with him— Honestly, much like Taeyong, the way he cares for others and leads so well made Ahri crush on him first. “You liked daddy first??” “Yeah, of course, baby. He’s very handsome, funny, and nice. He was a gentleman, holding the door for me, getting coffee for me all the time, coming over to chat with me and when I’d visit the office and I was bored. He was always around…… And I couldn’t stop admiring him” Reyna giggles, “Eoma had a crush!” It’s trueeeee. Mark was irresistible, but Ahri thought there was never a chance in the world that a good Christian boy like him would ever be willing to join the polycule, so she tried to suppress her feelings and even try to put distance between them; however, Mark’s persistence, and his eventual interest in the polycule was what sparked the actual love amongst everyone and not just sexual tension. Mark joining was the beginning of romance. It was quite nice.

Hyuck…… Him being a menace. Ahri loves the fact that he keeps her on her toes at all times. His humor is twisted and loud, and he can pout and act out a lot, but underneath all of that, he’s a big ol softie who loves to cuddle and say “I love you” a million times until they know FOR SURE he means it.
