okay so i just watched damsel on netflix and holy shit that was amazing!!!!! i gobble up stories about badass women overcoming insurmountable odds and fighting to survive (ellen ripley my beloved) and damsel pulled it off exceptionally
i love protagonists who actually get hurt and oh my god millie bobby brown can SCREAM like what the hell i knew you could do it as eleven, but never that viscerally holy shit
speaking of mbb, her performance was just fucking perfect— although the acting was iffy in other parts, she always nailed her performance throughout and sold elodie as a character so very exceptionally well, another kickass character
my one issue is the reviews, since i came off of the moving absolutely loving it and then wanted to see what other people thought and then a lot of the reception was poor… when it was from men (and on youtube)
i mean, i’m a man (that sounds grossly masculine) and i loved the movie so much
i am also a feminist so maybe that accounts for something
HOWEVER this is also why i love tumblr so much since i saw people who had the same reception i did and the validation dopamine started to flow in my brain
that’s all!!!! damsel is a 10/10

There's rules against running in halls with scissors, but I don't think the same rule applies to swords actually

Revolutionary Girl Utena
“For Friendship, Perhaps”
Do you know? Do you know? Have you heard the news? Study normal subjects, find a normal job. Fall in love normally, get married normally. Have a normal family, and have a normal life. But being normal has nothing to do with us! We're tired of doing all the things we've done till now. Time for us to go back to being what's normal for us. Do you know? Do you know? Do you know what that is?

ngl I was a little surprised when I first saw people describing Falin as a "masculine" woman. like this is just what the average Northern European woman looks like on a regular day:
and this is literally what me and my roomates look like when we "dress up" to go out and eat:
(image source) Maybe add like a neck cerchief and some bright nail polish. if you go any more "girly" than that and the waiter might ask whose birthday it is.
