this is def one of my favorite scenes in FAITH chapter 3 because of the horrific implications of it.

for some context, shortly before this scene we see john get poked with a needle held by gary (the big bad of the entire game). john presumably goes unconscious for a few moments, and when he wakes up and we walk him to the next screen (which is ominously marked by a trail of blood), we are greeted with what can only be described as a massacre. blood is everywhere, with the seemingly torn apart bodies of many cultists (the pink guys) strewn about. as an added bonus, when you approach one of the cultists, they straight-up beg john not to hurt them.

it is established in the game that john is very weak. if he gets touched by ANYTHING its a one-hit k.o. straight into a MORTIS. the only thing john has to defend himself is his signature cross. all of this is already terrifying in and of itself, but my god THIS SCENE???????

its one of those moments that only has its true horror revealed when you REALLY think about it. john, father john thomas ward; a man riddled with guilt, and now carrying the fate of the entire world on his shoulders, mild-mannered and non-confrontational, frail and meek and delicate like the petals of a lily; he did this. he single-handedly butchered maybe nine cultists with nothing but his bare hands. he is the one who covered this room wall to wall in their blood and broken bodies.

dear god imagine how john must have felt upon realizing this. that he, a simple child of man is the cause of all this carnage. was he even human when he did all of this? no, he HAD to have been some sort of demon when he did all of this. but maybe deep down he knows that the demon has always been inside him. scratching, clawing, yearning to break free. and all it took was a damned needle to force it out of him.

maybe in that moment he thought he was doing the right thing. these cultists have done nothing but lie and manipulate and murder to get what they want, they were too far gone for salvation. maybe some people deserve to die. maybe this is the only way these sick bastards can repent for all the horrible things they've done.

what does john think of himself when he looks down at his hands, drenched in blood. does he see himself as man or monster?

it's sometimes so silly to look in the notes of a polyamory art/post and see people like "is this cheating art....?" when the characters in canon are all extremely close friends. i know it's not malicious because most people think of monogamy as the default and anything outside that Must be cheating, but truly i'm always like. guys. guys Please.

please think about this for like 2 seconds.

under what circumstances do we think this non-canon couple might hold hands directly in front of their canon partners. and under what circumstances do we think the canon partners might be okay with this. do we Truly think this is a secret relationship. do we Truly think these guys would sneak around behind their canon partners' backs when all of them are extremely close friends with a high level of trust and commitment to each other.

would assuming that these extremely close friends have actually communicated with one another Exactly The Same Way They Do In The Canon Source Material perhaps cause less despair.....

deeply refreshing to see someone critical of Swift who also like, genuinely likes her. not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad

everybody/npcs being obsessed with dorian and callin him good looking and stuff, he gets all bashful and orym silently smiles.

orym talking to dorian with such a soft voice when speaking of his opal experience. “i know that was a nightmare for you…” UGHH.

laudna suggests they all have funerals for each other. to say what they need to say. robbie and liam sharing a glance???

whenever dorian interacts with his dragon horse, orym always looks so admiringly at dorian.

the way orym remembered how dorian vowed to not abandon the big task in front of his father, and then repeating that they all are okay with taking on the weight- WHILE GLANCING TOWARDS DORIAN, who nods shortly after.

just wanna mention how fucking amazing dorian was playing that music for all of the military/war camps. it shows his character so much. and everyone, including liam, was SOOO into it. the little things robbie chooses to make dorian do, because “there’s no other choice”. matt describing how dorian’s presence just uplifts the entire encampment….

dorian laughing when coming back from his small trip, all jolly and happy, positive about him and his friends and the journey ahead. orym making a surprised but ultimately happy face when dorian arrives.

”is this goodbye?” “no this is a go get em.” BADASS.

not orym’s family members recognizing and greeting dorian immediately. holy shit. sick. unwell. yelling. screaming.
