last rant for now i promise but the sheer bitterness deangirls have towards anything sam-related, be it the character or samgirls, is pretty amusing to me considering that no matter what any of us say, the show will always favor dean a lot and it doesn't take a PhD in Media Literacy to realize this?

i'm not saying you can't dislike the ending (we're all free to do whatever we want in life) but don't act like dean going out the way he did was somehow that offensive of an injustice compared to the way sam is treated in the later seasons of the show. if anything, let us have this one thing for once.

well, i guess there's also the fact that if you don't like or accept the reality that no matter what, dean cares about his brother the most before anyone else in the entire cast, then i'd suppose that's another sore spot, but that's got nothing to do with any injustices against dean as a character and more so engaging self-gaslighting caused by deangirl fumes or severe shipping goggles.

either way, all this to say, not really my problem what you think of sam when it's the dean show like 75% of the time from a certain point onwards.

my favorite thing ever is if sam and dean somehow get through their entire lives without crossing the line into sexual acts, until they move into the bunker.

like maybe sometime from s11-s14, they've been toxic codependent freaks since childhood but they haven't kissed, fucked, or done much else beyond a slightly-longer-than-normal hug after a near death experience.

but one night they're in the dean cave watching reruns of some show from when they were kids, both slightly tipsier than they'd like to be.

sam of course being the lightweight of the two, gets touchier and cuddlier in the darkness of the room, just the two of them, and all is right with the world.

sam doesn't know what comes over him, but he looks at dean, the light from the tv illuminating his face, and leans in. surprisingly (or not so much), dean follows suit.

their lips press together, ever so lightly, just a graze at first because both of them are still hesitant. but after a second or two, dean takes the leap and fully leans in, reaching up to rest one of his hands at the nape of sam's neck and the other on his hip. sam grips onto deans flannel, fearful that he'll pull away.

it's as if the final puzzle piece is falling into place. dean feels at peace for the first time in over a decade, and sam is overwhelmed with emotion, his eyes welling up as he reluctantly pulls himself away.

"dean," sam chokes out.

"sammy..." dean pulls sam even closer, pressing him up against his front, and brings his right hand up from his neck to push some of sam's bangs out of his eyes.

"i-i'm so sorry, dean-i didn't-"

"sam, sammy, shhh. it's okay, i know. you don't h've to say anything, i know." sam's eyes are shining with unshed tears, and dean notices he's ever-so-slightly shaking, so he pulls him in for a second sweet press of their lips, this one only barely longer than a peck.

"it's just you and me, sammy. we don't have to talk about it."

sam closes his eyes and leans his forehead against dean's, bringing both of his hands from dean's chest to cup his cheeks, "are you sure, de?"

"why didn't we do this sooner?" dean asks as he leans in once again. sammy is dean's everything, the one person that he would choose over everyone and everything. their lives are already fucked up, so why not one more thing to add to the winchester resume?

it's the most natural thing in the world; they already own every other part of each other, so sharing a kiss or two here and there is rightfully the next step.

but of course, it doesn't stop at kissing. sam and dean curl up next to each other on the couch for the rest of the night, and they haven't slept in separate beds since.

i started typing sarah then i remembered they brought her back just to kill ber but she was also engaged and had a kid so it couldn't be sarah :/ in my mind's eye eileen chose self preservation and left sam after god poofed her from existence Just To Get Back At sam and dean. that's very eileen. i want to say that it could be lori from 1.07 but she's a sam mirror so it wouldn't work out

it would be really really funny if it was lisa (she had been going for the wrong brother all along. at least this one isn't abusive) or amelia (like imagine the drama of amelia leaving her military husband for sam after All That Time). but there's also adi's idea that she's just cas in a female vessel which to me is cas rebounding after 15.18 but it's also why he wasn't in heaven when dean got there <- related but dj being a nephilim born to an angel mother is a really cool concept

i find john winchester rly interesting and dislike a lot of wider fandom takes on him and when i think about him as a character i’m almost fond of him but i still like. totally 100% get it when people just fucking ferociously hate him. and i do too! i mean at the end of the day no matter how fascinating he is as a character, he’s an abusive father. he’s pretty directly responsible for all of sam and dean’s shit*. i feel like it’s understandable to vicariously hate him

It's not gonna be big, but dialogue has been running in my head 24/7 and if I don't write it down I'll explode. Writing is a fun break from drawing besides and I genuinely feel like slowly dissecting other characters is helping me revisit my original stories, and dissect my own characters and bring more continuity and subtlety into them.

Saw someone say that while Dean and Sam love each other in an extreme degree, they don’t like much and aren’t friends, just family…. Thoughts?

i think they're both true and are ideas able to coexist because very often their ideas of each other relate more so to the role they play within the dynamics of their relationship than they do the Actual Person, which is largely how Family works, and it is the Family Is Hell show but also, i feel like the idea that they don't like each other is incredibly divorced from canon—it feels like something you start believing when you haven't watched the show in a while and most of your interactions with the show come from conflict discussion/meta—on account of all the little moments of joy they share in every episode they're in together. like sam getting genuine enjoyment out of dean and his translator app, that post i made recently about sam's relationship with food and his long-term care about dean's body in a way that is more brotherism empathy than a kind of extension, dean genuinely admiring (and supporting) sam's relationship with the alternate reality immigrant hunters, etc etc. like i see gifsets of it all the time: there are moments of genuine pleasure of each other's character and presence that they both do enjoy. i don't think their codependency would work at all if there was a constant representation or exploration of this push back or resentment shared between them because those moments are representative of that foundational love they both share; i'm thinking about 1.11, 5.05, the first three episodes of season six, 7.14 and 9.13 and a lot of other case/motw episodes where one of them has directly or indirectly acknowledged their distaste for their relationship dynamic but a major part of their willingness to choose the other in favour of leaving or a part of narrative's facilitation of the brother's straying from their role within the relationship back into said role are quite literally those smaller moments of them getting along. so like the phonecall in 1.11, the case they work on together in 5.05, soulless!sam's appreciation for the efficiency and relative enjoyment he's able to get out of a hunt when he works with dean, the case sam and dean work on in 7.14 and 9.13 and the relative exploration of the issue at hand they're able to 'achieve' as a result of both their time apart and the enjoyment of the time they have together, while these are also instances where the dynamics of their codependency kick in on some level. i just don't think it's that black and white, and it would be boring if it were
