Valentine HC

So there is like one hour of valentine's day here were I live, so let's do some HC just because...(i actually think valentine is a stupid thing, mostly because it's just not so big here; but stores tries to push it). I have been single for my 25 years of life, but I often give gift's to my bff's. Like small stuff; like a little chocolate and some homemade shit they can hang on their wall or something. Just to make them feel a little more loved. Hope you all had a great day and that your week will continue in that manner <3

Sugawara x Sawamura: Depend on year to year. Since Daichi is a cop, he will sometimes have a shift in the late evening or night, so they can't be doing much. If Daichi is stuck at work; he will call a flower shop and make them deliver a bouquet to their home so Sugawara would be met with a gift when he comes home. Sugawara can't send flowers to the station, but he packs a hefty lunchbox and does the extra stuff as to make heart shaped rice balls and send a note with. He will also have dinner ready or at least a plate that Daichi can reheat if he comes back really late. If they have the evening off, they just order in food and dessert and just enjoy themselves. If they feel like it, they go out and take dinner at a barbeque restaurant and maybe go to a bathhouse.

Yamaguchi x Tsukishima Also depends if either of them have work or not. The museum closes earlier than the office Yamaguchi works at (if it's not holiday period with more tourists). But they usually just go out to eat and maybe catch a movie if they see anything that interest them. If they can't make the time cut, Tsukishima will drive over to Yamaguchi's work, if he is stuck at the office, and he would of course already have picked up some burger and fires ( so they will become soft when they arrive home). Yamaguchi, if he knows Tsukishima will be stuck working longer hours, he will also pick him up and have bought a store-bought cake they can share. They have been friends since childhood, they don't want or expect the other to give anything bigger than some food that they can share.

Kageyama x Hinata Both are athletes and busy. Sometimes they have late practice, sometimes they are out traveling with their sparte team, sometimes they are together, but still busy. I think neither of them would do too much. Maybe Hinata will buy a box of the jelly energy drinks Kageyama likes to have. Kageyama would probably do a similar favour back and buy him a pack of energy bars he could just stuff in his bag and have something to-go when he needs it. I do think they would both have tried at one point ot do something more romantic; but it wasn't for them and they have time for regular date night throughout the year - so they 'dont 'stress it too much. If they have time though, they make a heartly meal together and give each other massages.

Kuroo x Kenma Both of them are busy. Kenma has a yearly stream for his viewers on valentines. It doesn't take too long, but it's something to prepare too. Kuroo is busy with work as usual, but they both make sure to have the evening for just the two of them. They take a drive to disconnect for a few hours and just pics a place to eat dinner on the road. Sometimes it's ramen, sometimes its a hot-pot place, sometimes it's McDonnel's. Sometimes they drive to a desser cafe and then to start talking until they closes and are forced to leave whatever place they decide. They have a rule to not buy a gifts, but if either see the other lacking something; they just sneak it in on that day as an extra specialty.

Tanaka x Kiyoko Tanaka was very nervous the first real valentine they had as a couple. He and Noya had tired to brainstorm some ideas he could do to treat Kiyoko, but they all seemed to extravagant or to little. Kiyoko, the first year, just shoved up with some chocolate. As in Japan's, on valentine day; girls give chocolate to the guys. And a month late, the guys give chocolate back on white day (14th of March). So Tanaka of course gave chocolate back when it was time. They still stuck with the tradition, but also have a date night at a restaurant and just take a walk through the city centre. Tanaka tried to act though, but it doesn't take much for Kyoko to make him stumble over his words. Kiyoko also tries to act cool, but one romantic gesture from Tanaka have her blushing all over the place.

Iwaizumi x Oikawa They didn't get together until a few years after high school. Plus Oikawa plays for Argentina and Iwaizumi coaches the Japan's Men's volleyball team. So there's a hurdle. If they can make time and the time zones doesn't mess them up too much, they skype call for hours. If they, by miracle: is near each other, they have this weird way of rivalry since they support different teams and will often tease and goad on each other. They know it's just for fun. But when evening comes; they can always be seen walking the same path home. Oikawa one year sent Iwaizumi some money with the message to just buy himself a gift. And this started a tradition. They send over a small amount of money with the massage to just buy themselves a steam bun or a bar of cholate or some extra stuff they want with the massages to take care.

Ushijima x Tendou Ushijima is a very practical person and Tendou is literally a chocolatier in Paris. So they face some of the same problems Iwaizumi and Oikawa have. Tendou makes batch of his finest chocolate that Ushijima likes and sends it over with express delivery so it will arrive around valentines day. I feel like Ushijima is the kind of guy that likes those confectionary chocolates with nuts in them. Ushijima doesn't really understand the in's and out's of this day. He did receive more than enough confession and chocolate in school; but he never really cared about that. At the start, he didn't feel like he could give a chocolate-maker some cholate as a gift. Maybe it would have been too much. Doing something else out of the norm, made him feel like he didn't care enough. Now that he knows the people Tendou works with; he makes a deal that they go out and buy some flowers for him and a gift card on an eastern Asian themed restaurant that they go together when he is visiting paris. Tendou always appreciates it, especially since he misses Japan from time to time.

My thoughts: Iwaizumi and Oikawa have become one of my top ships, right after the classics like DaiSuga, KageHina, TsukkiYama, and AsaNoya. Their dynamic is just so captivating! I fell for them after the initial excitement of the first years, and their chemistry really stuck with me. 💕

I recently came across this fanfiction that is an absolute gem. The author writes IwaOi so perfectly, capturing their personalities and interactions flawlessly. The story is set with them as businessmen— Iwa is a dedicated editor, and Oikawa is in finance (from what I remember). They meet for what they think is a ‘one-time thing,’ but the chemistry between them is off the charts! The plot is so well-crafted and teasing that you’ll be hooked from start to finish.

There are also side relationships like DaiSuga and KurooKen (which I adore and totally recommend their side fics too!), along with a bit of AsaNoya and KageHina. It’s exciting to follow these characters through adult life challenges and savor the satisfying ending. Dive in and enjoy the ride! 🌟📚

i saw someone say this on twt and id like to take this opportunity to say thank u to that person for enlightening me of this agenda

so the reason why i think this makes so much sense is

1) blonde riwoo was literally hoshiumi (refer pics above)

2) riwoo is to bnd what hoshiumi is to kamomedai if u know what i mean ( if u dont then thats a you problem)

3) they both embody this sense of confidence with their awareness of their skills that they know how to showcase

like he knows hes that good and he shows it but is still able to be humble about it

i think lots of onedoors who have been through the haikyuu phase would agree with this one

him, woonhak and taesan are the ones who have a definite and stable parallel character in haikyuu

noya plays a very important role in the team as the libero and they are often described as the backbone of the team's defense

like its meaning in italian ("free") they are free to move in and out of the court during gameplay, they go in when support is needed especially with receiving and covering the weaker areas of the players

the role reminds me so much of mj's leadership style in bnd

he seems to always be there for his members when they need him and is always ready to support/encoruage them at all times

like the way liberos tend to be well-aware and perceptive of the court to be able to support the teams defense, is the same as mj being a well-rounded, talented leader who is always looking out for his members

pre-relationship bullshit haikyuu teams probably had to put up with before various ships managed to get their shit together

daisuga probably was really annoying with like small/petty jealousy, like a girl would hit on one of them and the other would be standing behind their back making faces about it and mocking it and everyone else on the team just has to put up with it. and then theyre all overly sweet to each other to make up for the petty jealousy or some odd version of "winning them back" after the flirting event and the team is rolling their eyes *so hard*

i think asanoya is so annoying bc nobody can convince Asahi that Noya likes him. Like full stop. Eventually someone pulls him aside and is point blank like "Noya said he has a crush on you ask him out" and Asahi is just like: "Haha he was probably joking" and just leaves the scene. Like the absolute refusal to believe it from Asahi combined with Noya's classic teen boy inability to be sincere means that even after theyve both been told they somehow still havent gotten together??? how long is this going to take???

tsukkiyama probably ruins everyone's week the week before they get together bc one of them *saw* a confession letter stuck into the other's bag and absolutely went (emotionally) off the rails for the days leading up to them discovering it was for them.

I am fully of the camp that iwaoi start dating before they label it/make it official so the whole team is screaming like "PLEASE HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT IT" meanwhile Oikawa is saying "we just went on a few dates and kissed a few times it doesnt mean anything" and Iwa is in the background shouting "yeah I dont wanna be anyone's boyfriend that's lame" and then they wander off to go eat dinner together holding hands and the team is left in frustration because ALL they talk about is how theyre *not* in a relationship.

for bokuaka its mostly just Bokuto pestering every goddamn person he knows for like 4 months asking "do you think Akaashi likes me?" or "do you think he'd say yes if I asked him out?" and then one day making Konoha *snap* when he says "I need to tell you a secret" and the secret is that he has a crush on Akaashi as if nobody had known that

with ushiten I imagine Tendou was probably really obvious with his crush/interest but in like a very casual "not taking myself too seriously" kind of way so he's comfortable openly flirting, and Ushijima, against everyone's expectations, doesnt seem to mind the attention but is still who he is, so the whole team just has to put up with the most INSANE interactions. Like Tendou walks into the locker room and cat calls him and Ushijima just replies with a formal "thank you" and Semi is contemplating slamming his head in a locker. There's like 12 months of this.

okay okay but I think arankita is *very classic* in that Aran compensates for his crush by over-supporting Kita. so like the whole team gets super annoyed bc Aran wont risk disagreeing with him, is always offering to do extra work, is generally just sucking-up really badly and the twins suffer the most for this bc Aran used to just ignore their antics but now he's super annoyingly on them all the time to try and impress Kita

kuroken is a little different. Yaku asks Kuroo every single day if he's asked Kenma out yet. Lev asks Kenma if he has a crush on Kuroo every chance he gets. Fukunaga gives them a wink when they leave practice to walk home together. This is the only pairing in which the team is the irritant pre-relationship and then post-relationship everyone loses interest and moves on.

I'd include kagehina but once again the entire goddamn show is everyone putting up with them flirting so whats the point.

ok so daisuga and they live together and Suga absolutely hates mosquitoes. whenever he sees one he goes apeshit trying to kill it. at first it starts with randomly trying to grab the mozzie out of the air, then he's clapping loudly trying to squish it, and when that doesn't work he goes feral like a cat trying to get a laser. he's jumping over things and diving under things, knocking things over. meanwhile Daichi is just sitting drinking his tea or w/e, and not phased. when Suga finally gets the mozzie Daichi applauds him, like 'well done.' Suga dubs mozzies his personal nemesis, Daichi is 'meh' about them

Suga goes feral when there're a mosquito in the room. Daichi had put nettings in the windows in their room, since summer is hot and they need air circulation. He doesn't like them, but he isn't as bothered by them. If he gets a sting, he treats it with a warm cloth and tends to forget about it. He is more worried about Suga, who tends to scratch them, until he gets an open wound.

Sugawara has tried everything. He goes trough insects-prays when they are on a hike and needs to live with that sticky residue on his body the whole day. He buys an mosquito-coil to hopefully keep them away and buys everything he deems somewhat useful in his war against them. Daichi wants him to not use money on useless shit, but this is a war in his mind. That is why, once he sees an mosquito in the room when he literally uses the coil as incense, he gets so upset.

He hears them buzz and then he can't rest until the thing is dead or out of his house. Daichi is no help, but at least he gets a little bit of praise from him when he kills the intruder. Sugawara wants to get a cat or chameleon that can haunt them, but Daichi says that is stupid reason to get pets.

He doesn't smell like chemicals in the summer for them still to come towards him!!!

“It’s just how it is. We’re made to die alone,” he said, heart catching as more words tumbled out before he could stop them, “I’m sorry.”  Those big, brown eyes just kept looking at him. Maybe it was the tension of the moment or maybe Suga really was losing his mind, but the thing’s face seemed to soften as it dipped its snout in something like a nod. All right then , it seemed to say, go on . Its head fell back into the snow, its eyes closed in surrender.

Suga sighed, opening his mouth to tell him to stop that, for the love of god, but he closed it again before another sound could be made. Something about the angle of the shifter’s head as he looked mournfully down at the fabric that was confining and constricting him, and the way the light, soft and silvery through the clouds, was streaming down on him from the small window above struck him, silencing his tongue. Ephemeral and delicate, the winter sun lit him from behind, surrounding him like a damned halo glowing against his deep, rich skintone and the contrasting darkness of his corner.

"Why Suka chain Daichi?” The fucked up thing was that for a minute there, I almost said I don’t know. Because sometimes, I look at him, and I cannot see danger. Sometimes, I look at him, and my mind refuses to connect the dots between that smile he gets when he’s learned something new or likes his dinner or plays with Percy to what happened to my family and so many other people along the way.

He remembered thinking he’d been quite magnanimous, allowing a shifter to stay inside next to a warm stove and giving him pillows and blankets to rest on, but without Daichi there to add life, he could see it for what it was… just a pile of bedding on a cold, hard floor. I made him live in that. Like that.

“This ok?” Daichi asked, that same need rumbling around the edges of his voice, but there was concern there now, too. “Talk to me, Suka.” “Daichi, I…” Suga started, responding to the command to speak but not knowing what to say.

“Wish I talk your talk better. Then you listen… understand me, maybe. But this,” he said, gesturing to the wall in front of him, “This show you… I am not stupid, shifter not stupid. The horror was large, looming. It stole the air right out of his lungs - but fuck his lungs, he’d breathe when Daichi was safe. “Shut the hell up and shoot,” he hissed at himself as he fell to his knees, shouldering his rifle in one smooth motion.

This fic began as two drabbles for October Drabble Night on r/FanFiction Discord, for the prompts "mask" and "candle". I liked them too much, so I tinkered with them until this little ficlet came out.

I love this AU, and I think it might become A Thing™ for me. I love tired Sugamama, rowdy first years as kids, and Daichi being so in love it's ridiculous.
