not to be controversial but i got something to say!!!
i don’t think it was wrong for kurt to have had crushes on sam and finn (aka crushes in straight guys). there’s this weird thing that people (mostly on other social media spaces) that criminalize kurt for having a crush. and i could go into how people don’t have the same sentiment when blaine had a crush on sam, but that’s not what this is about so i won’t discuss it here.
kurt was a teenager who wanted to be desired the way that everyone else at his school was. him having a crush on a straight guy who was kinda nice to him is no different than if a girl had done the same thing.
i think this goes especially so in the case for finn. yeah, we can discuss all day about how he was “going way too far” with it, sure. but in a universe when every single main character has done something kinda egregious, i feel like that point loses its weight. the show shined a light heavily on how finn was uncomfortable with it, which is honestly more of a problem with finn than kurt in that regard (s1 and s2 finn had a homophobia streak like lets be kinda honest here). but bc finn was our main character, we were sort of supposed to sympathize with his discomfort. but in doing so, it causes a less media literate viewer to villainize kurt in the process

Why the Supergirl Fandom is the most horrible Fandom on tumblr
So appearantly everyone left in the Supergirl Fandom on tumblr is an asshole.
I started a new Arrowverse Blog only a couple of days ago that collects my 100 Favorite things (characters and ships so far). I dared to include Kara and Lex as a ship into the blog an named then Kalex. Of course I was informed immedatley that this was the wrong ship name because I belonged to Kara and Alex. I then said, that Kara and Alex are Superagent or Danvers Sisters to me and I never saw Kalex used for them anywhere and pointed out that it I came up with Kalex for Kara and Lex and was proud on it and it took some time to came up with it and therefore did not want to change it (it is my blog after all, if I would want to call them BestLoversintheUniverse it would be within my rights). And yes I dared to use the hashtag, but along with the hashtags Kara Danvers and Lex Luthor. The post got exactly one like and one reblog, I am literally the only person who ships those two in any shape or form. And I am pretty sure there are other fandoms where Kalex is a ship name for someone else as well. So no one would ever think this post is about Alex Danver, because it literally conatained the  title: Kalex: Kara Danvers/ Lex Luthor.  And then two pictures of Kara and Lex, the name of the Arrowverse shows and one additional sentence.
In theory you are allowed to post anything you want on your own blog, but not on tumblr. I was again informed that Kalex as an Kara/Alex Shipname predates the show and that it was the tag on AO3 - again this is tumblr not AO3, where by the way a lot of tags a used for more than one thing. Maybe I am smarter then the rest of the world but I always realized that Jarley Fics that starred Joker and Harley Quinn were not about Marley and Jacob when they popped up among my “Glee” Fics, and again, this was one post on tumblr, not a fic or anything for AO3. Apparently I was disrespecting the established “realitvly small“ Kalex Fandom. Because yes, it’s totally okay to attak another person if this person is a singular person, but a small community who just has to accept that there is one post with one like and one reblog out there that uses their shipname for another ship in the same fandom is totally the victim here.
I get it, The Shippers That Shall Not Be Named have destroyed the show and the fandom for all of us. But that is not reason to make life for everyone else harder. If it offends you that someone “steals” your shipname in a singular post in their own blog that is in no way official and won’t ever be official because no one but this persons is interested in this ship in any way, you really should turn of the news some times to get an perspective.
Believe it or not, it takes time and work to do a new blog and to make a new post, it takes time to come up with a new shipname for a ship that can easily get confused with the Ship That Destroyes Them All here and everywhere else or you know Clark and Lex.
But, yeah, I get it, I can be aggressive too: From now on Kara and Lex will be forever: The Ship I am not allowed to call Kalex because of Kara/Alex Shippers. You think you are different from those Stans that destroyed the fandom for everyone else? Newsflash: You are exactly like them!
Everyone here is. And I am so sick of this.
You know I don’t care if someone other means Kara and Alex with Kalex or means Laurel and Oliver with Canarrow or Wally and Barry with Westallen. I do care however if someone forbids me to use those names for the characters I use them for. Because the first thing it in everyones right, because shipnames are not canon, and everyone is entiteled to use the one they like - Kanvers and Superbat, Karry and Superflash - most ships have more than one name. But if there is new ship without name and someone makes one up for them that is already taken, you damn well let them have it and either ignore them or feel offended  in a silent way. Or you know, you could start using the secondary one for your ship, which I know is out of your way of thinking.
So let everyone know that Kalex-Shippers suck as much as those that turned them and everyone else into a sobbing mess.
Here, I said it.
Supergirl is dead on tumbl. Thanks to all of you people.

A Complete Collection of LGBT Pop Culture- An Idea I had
Ok I’m going to say something that I never heard before, but I feel like it is a known fact in our culture: going into the LGBT+ community is sometimes hard. There are over a million of reasons why people can feel this way, and even though are community tends to be open minded, it is still kinda hard to find one’s footing.
I remember when I realized my sexuality, I felt like I had no one to talk to. I wasn’t out, plus my mom worked at my school, so I didn’t feel comfortable going to any groups because I feared it may get back to her. I was in high school, and even when I started telling my friends what was going on, I still felt really alone. I came from a very liberal high school where people wore tails and pjs to class, and I knew that there was representation there. It was just that I didn’t know anybody. I had no one to look up to, no one to be my role model. That was until I decided to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was already into shows with wlw in them, e.g. True Blood, Glee and Pretty Little Liars, but at that point I had fated interest in those shows as I grew older. Willow was the first character that I really bonded with, and she kinda became my first role model. After finding her I realized that while I didn’t have any role models in real life, I could find strength and a sense of community within TV shows.  I went from watching at total of around 5 shows ever, to about 10x that in the span of a couple of years.
The reason I’m saying this now is because it took me a really long time to find the shows that spoke to me. I found out about Clexa existing from a facebook article talking about her death. I found out about Wayhaught from my youtube suggested videos. The only reason I was able to watch Sanvers as it occurred is because I saw Supercat cracks mixed in with other crack videos. I stumbled on Hollstein by accident, and almost never watched Carmilla. What I’m saying is, so much of who I am today, and why I am proud to be who I am today, came from these characters and the amazing fandoms behind them. And so many of these communities I came only to be in by happy accidents.
Which is why I am proposing creating a space with all the history of our pop culture documented. I believe that by providing a place where people can go and learn about our history and how we got to where we are today is important, especially through the eyes of pop culture. A place where all fans of different fandoms come together, forget the shipping wars at home, and join to create something beautiful, where all members of our community will have a voice and representation.
The only rules I have in creating this space is that we are inclusive to everybody. I know that there is rarely an issue that everyone agrees on, but in this space we should be able to critic work without spilling hate- even though sometimes it can be deserved. We already have Tumblr for that, so let this space be a place for people looking for new things to watch, read, listen to, just to find.
So what am I asking? Mainly for help and ideas. Even though I have learned a lot about this community since I joined it, I know have tons still to learn. Also while I can tell you a lot about wlw ships, I really can’t speak for many mlm ships. There are so many voices here that can tell stories to this community that I would never be able to tell. I know a lot about TV ships and the trope Bury the Gays, but have no knowledge about LGBT+ artists and how their work has influenced the community. So first, lets get down a good idea, maybe a website of some kind, maybe a wiki- I really don’t know the internet well, I can’t even make a gif, but I know there is someone out there who can. People who are smarter than me, more creative than me.  Lets find a way to get this collection out to the world. If something in pop culture, i.e. celebs, music, art, TV, movies, comics, musicals, plays, youtubers, or anything else which fits in this category, write something about it. We will build up a collection of information to help the next generation come into this community and something that hopefully they will be able to add onto. So please spread the word if you think this is a good idea.

Smarter ppl than me have already talked to about this, but it's really fucked up how like... Surviving homophobic/other violence is talked about on tumblr and used for canon fodder. Often by people who were not survivors of said violence (or even friends with the survivors... Just like random Internet passerby) Like, I understand feeling for your community/other marginalized communities, but consider what lurid descriptions of violence and abuse actually *do* to people. How they retraumatize victims, scare people back into closets, how they can be just plain disrespectful. There are definitely people here that have no respect for victims, who get perverse glee from describing abuse and violence and being *right* about a group of people being victimized or whatever. On the other hand, I think there are people here who have good intentions but don't think their posts through our are just so goddamn frustrated by being silenced. God knows I've been there. But I think we can do better.
