Yes! Things initially happened a bit differently after Binghe gave Tianlang-Jun Xin Mo, but mxtx later edited out the scene and changed stuff around.

Here's a translation of the deleted/altered scenes!

I really wish some of this was re-incorporated within, say, the ridge scene but alas. I do like these deleted scenes overall (save for Binghe pulling the "if you didn't want it, you'd kill me". That is not great but at least Shizun's amused by it). What I like is that it's clarified that yes, Binghe is vengeful and spiteful, but he also clings to every drop of kindness he receives in equal measure. It's part of what makes him such an adorable and pathetic little meow meow.

Here’s my take on the whole audio books vs. reading:

Oral tradition of storytelling predates written ones by millennias, and honestly, which one you like is just a personal preference.

The actual difference is

when listening, you have no idea how to write characters’ names

when reading, you have no idea how to pronounce characters’ names
