Just asking bc I really like your au, do you have an idea for everyone's favorite dysfunctional villain family? I admittedly am an anime only Dungeon Meshi watcher but I can imagine Selim taking a Sissel like role.

okay, general list of different spellings I’ve seen in the dunmeshi fan translations

laios- has never been spelled differently in my experience. that’s bc ライオス is very easy to transliterate lol. (raiosu)

falin- farlin/farlyn were the most common! falin was actually a pretty unpopular/scrapped translation from my memory lol. i think her name is just ファリン (falin) though so. yeah it is the most literal one. i still like farlyn a little more though heehee.

now! their last name- now localized as “touden” was spelled “thorden” in the translation i read.

senshi- always been senshi. this is actually important for a small bit where Falin thinks his name is 戦士 (warrior), lol

marcille- surprisingly, she also had a few different spellings. it was really early in the fan translation so you don’t see a lot of people calling her anything other than marcille. it was like… marshille/marsille/marsil so not too different.

chilchuck- chilchack. i specifically remember a t/n saying they decided to go with chilchack over chilchuck LOL.

Thistle- Sissel. Thissel.

Shuro- THIS ONE IS SO FUNNY ACTUALLY. For a while in the translation I was reading Laios & co would call him “Sureau” WHICH. fuck makes later events so much better. I’m not sure how intentional it was on the translator’s part but it ended up working out if it wasn’t!

Other things:

-Tallmen got translated just as “human” before it became clear that it was the canon term for humans.

-I can’t remember exactly what name they chose, but one translator decided to localize Kensuke to something to sort of preserve the pun. For those who don’t know, naming a sword Kensuke is kinda like naming it “Sir Swordsington” lolol.

Thank you!!!! I'm not sure if you mean specific characters or just, types of voices so I'll do both! Maya Fey obviously will always hold a special place in my heart because without her and the Bi Attorney streams in general I would literally not be who I am today. (genderfluid) Nagito is, unfortunately, also one of my favorite characters I've ever voiced. It gave me a much deeper appreciation for his character, and also it made me realize how much *fun* it is to voice villains. Getting to read anything that came out of his mouth and the immediate validation of everyone around me wanting to wring his/ my little neck is a high I'll probably be chasing for the rest of my life.

As far as my favorite kinds of voices to do? If it isn't obvious one of my favorites is like, extremely femme voices. The softer the better. I don't have a better way to phrase it than like... it's just fun and validating to talk like a girl LOL. Streams are basically my way of voice training. That said I do really enjoy doing voices closer to my usual register (Shuichi and like, Sissel, are the only examples that come to mind sadly) the reduced mental overhead of putting on a voice lets me feel like I can put more of that energy towards a good performance, though I always strive for that regardless.

Anytime Alfred would have me voice Phoenix as a joke was very fun and I relished the fleeting opportunity to be the protagonist LOL

This nerd is the blog’s main muse. Yomiel after his fate-change, a man who is seeking his redemption after everything he did in the previous timeline. He is a pain in the ass and loves to hide his fears and insecurities behind sarcasm and irony and may seem rude sometimes because of this, but deep down, he just wants a hug. Loves his fiancee and his cat to death. Is trying really hard in letting go of his past, but sometimes has to confide in his cat when he’s feeling depressed. He just wants someone he can talk to and understand him.  He suffers from heavy PTSD and Guilt Complex after the Temsik incident and is very depressed and immersed in a deep anguish and he’s trying really hard to become someone better. This man really need some friends.

This one is an asshole. Like, the king of assholes. He’s Yomiel during the game-timeline or before. He’s a wrathful man who will do anything to accomplish his revenge plan. He is cold, cruel, sadistic and with no sense of morality. He lost all of his senses of moral and can be very sadisdic and cruel to those who stand in his way. He likes to let people suffer and at the same time he is jealous that they are able to feel and can be very manipulative (quite literally) to get what he wants. Don’t mess with this guy unless you really want some trouble.

However, behind all the hatred and anger, lies a very sad and angsty man who just want people to understand him. He is desperate for affection and any kind of kindness or compassion shown towards him can make him feel calmer and less aggressive.

Sissel used to be a small stray kitten wandering alone in Temsik Park when the Temsik meteorite fell, killing Yomiel on the spot. Yomiel’s soul inhabited the little kitten until he regained his memories. After that, he adopted the kitten and named him “Sissel” in his late fiancée’s memory. He was Yomiel’s only friend and companion during the time he was a Temsik undead until the events of Ghost Trick happens, in which Sissel is mistankenly killed by Yomiel in his revenge scheme and ends up becoming a Temsik ghost in pursuit of his own lost memory. He ends up going back in time ten years to avert Yomiel’s fate and he is now currently with the Temsik shard inside him, making him a Temsik undead in place of his best friend.

[💍] Sissel (Fiancée)

This sweet lady is Yomiel’s beloved fiancee. A friendly, easygoing woman who can get along with pretty much everyone. She is really curious and not afraid to experiment new things. She also loves to tease Yomiel in a playful manner just to see him blush. Sissel loves meeting new people and making new friends, so it’s pretty easy to approach her! Just come say hi to her. She needs more love in this blog!

Yomiel as a teenager. He is a shy, introverted and nerdy teenager. He is socially awkward towards people and he prefers to spend more time in front of computers than socializing. Not because he doesn’t like to interact with people, but mostly because most of his time he is actually afraid of what people might think of him. He is also kind of a dork, but in an adorable way. His family life is unstable, as he has divorced parents, his father is always absent in his life and his mother turned into an alcoholic after his father left her, which makes him even more insecure and anxious. He often uses to escape from his family problems by spending time in front of a computer, programming, which seems to be the only thing capable of distracting him, other than spending time with his best friend (and not-so-secret love interest) Sissel. He is a dork, but he is much easier to approach than his adult self because he hasn’t experienced all the Trauma from the Temsik incident (yet) and seems to be a bit more cheerful.

Sissel is a cheerful, playful and extroverted girl. She met Yomiel in her childhood and they quickly became best friends, but she had to leave him when her father found a better job in another country. She gave Yomiel her late mother’s favorite red scarf as a goodbye gift, as a way to make him not forget about her. She comes back seven years later, when she meets Yomiel again, now as a 17 year old teenager. Their friendship still remains strong, but it seems to be growing into something more. Sissel finds Yomiel’s clumsiness and awkwardness near her really cute and she finds his intelligence to be very attractive. She is really impressed at his great skills with computers and she often teases him about it. She also became quite popular in high school, attracting the eyes of many boys, but she only has eyes for her best friend, Yomiel. She often defends him whenever a bully mistreats him and she suports Yomiel with his family issues and is always there for him whenever he is feeling depressed about his family, serving as an emotional support for him.

As a kid, Yomiel is very introverted and shy. He lives in a troubled home, with parents that are always fighting each other and he is also bullied in school because of his studying habits. He doesn’t have any friends and has a terrible eyesight because of the time he spends studying and in front of computers. He is highly intelligent, but he is very shy and has difficulty to make friends. His only friend is the girl who just moved to his neighborhood, Sissel.

Sissel is an extroverted, playful young girl. She wears a bright red scarf that once belonged to her mother, but was given to her by her father when her mother passed away. She always wear the red scarf in the memory of her late mother. (more information about the red scarf here ) When she moved to Yomiel’s neighboorhood and started to attend the same school as him, she felt sorry for the poor boy and tried to befriend him. They quickly became friends and they would always play together. They spend the majority of their childhood together (three years to be more exact - she met him when he was 7 years old) but then she had to move to another country after her father got a better job and they were forced to separate. She gave Yomiel her late mother’s red scarf as a way for him to remember about her until she returns.

WHAT THEY SMELL LIKE: Coffee, usually.

HOW THEY SLEEP ( sleeping position, schedule, etc ): He is not much of a heavy sleeper, so he’s always switching sides during the night. He wakes up a lot and has a tendency to have nightmares about his past. He suffers from chronic insomnia and sometimes has to take medicine to help him sleep better. It doesn’t help that he’s a caffeine addict and is always drinking coffee to keep himself awake and working late in the night.

WHAT MUSIC THEY ENJOY: He loves classic rock and metal music like Scorpions, Iron Maiden, The Beatles and others but he is mostly an ecletic and enjoys other types of music as well. He also likes pop music and country music and even classic music (like Bethoven and Mozart), but for work he prefers listening to his favorite classic rock songs.

HOW MUCH TIME THEY SPEND EVERY MORNING GETTING READY: He gets A LOT of time to get ready. It takes him almost an hour to stylize his hair and he’s a perfectionist, so it can take him really long to get ready, even worse than Sissel.

FAVOURITE THING TO COLLECT: Coffee mugs, mostly.

LEFT OR RIGHT HANDED: Ambidextrous, but uses right hand the most.

RELIGION (if any): He does belive in the gods of the GT universe, but he’s not really that much religious himself. 

FAVOURITE SPORT(S): Sports? He’s a nerd! But he enjoys watching some baseball and basketball matches on TV sometimes. If he’d ever do a sport himself, I guess golf would suit him, since it doesn’t require a lot of physical effort (he still suffers the consequences of Mino falling on his legs). And if chess can be considered a sport, than this would be his favorite.

FAVOURITE TOURISTY THING TO DO WHEN TRAVELING: He’s that much into it, Sissel is more likely to be the excited tourist on his place.

FAVOURITE KIND OF WEATHER: Cloudy days, not so cold, but not too hot either,  or a rainy day. It relaxes him to hear the sounds of the soft rain as he works.

WEIRD/OBSCURE FEAR THEY HAVE: Meteors, snakes, medium and large dogs, oceans, open spaces and crowded, confined spaces and total isolation.

THE CARNIVAL/ARCADE GAME THEY ALWAYS WIN WITHOUT FAIL: Yomiel prefers games that challenges the mind like chess and sudoku, sometimes a card game like solitaire or blackjack. He always wins at chess (he was a champion in the chess club of his school after all)
