The Whale Prophet, while morphologically similar to our Humpback Whales, obviously isn't actually one, the biggest reason being she has teeth, as opposed to irl Humpback Whales, which are baleen whales, meaning they've got... y'know, baleen. It's fer filter feeding.

I dunno what she is or where she's from or why she looks like a humpback whale, but I love her and I would try to save the world if she told me I needed to.

Re: the cass and tim as twins thing-- it doesn't really do much for me either, but as a couple points: you can't have identical twins with different sexes, so they'd have to be fraternal which means they wouldn't look any more alike than non-twin siblings which can vary *a lot* (ime some people confuse me with my half sister who's 8 years older than me, and other people just refuse to believe I'm related to my whole brother who's only two years younger than me)

And honestly? I think it's more metaphorical than literal, people call themselves "twinsies" with friends all the time to indicate closeness, and not referencing literal appearance at all

I think it's sometimes metaphorical, but there are a lot of posts that specifically use 'twins' in the context of 'looking alike', and that's the main thrust of the posts that I've seen. Good point about the fraternal twins thing, twins definitely don't have to look alike! But I think a lot of people who say Cass and Tim are twins are specifically thinking of the look-alike aspect.

Like if you look up Cass and Tim are twins, you'll see many posts about their similar heights/builds/haircuts, which to be fair they do have. But it's ignoring all of their visual differences, which is way more important to me than their similarities.

So I think it's fine for people to say they're twins in terms of closeness, which for sure some people do! But the main thing, particularly for people who don't read comics/aren't aware of Cass and Tim's canonical relationship, is appearance, and I just don't really agree with that or see the appeal of it.

NO BC YOU ACTUALLY BRING UP SMTH THATS BEEN ON MY MIND.. like one of the big things about this is sy's inner conflict because he despises sqq for having control over his life but at the same time he knows things could have been really worse without sqq's intervention. like if sqq hadn't believed sy then at best he would have sy thrown off the mountain and left to fend for himself, and at worse sqq could have killed him or tried him for an assassination attempt. so its like... its fucked up but sy owes sqq for almost everything, from his position, to the food he eats, to the clothes on his back. sy didnt know there was another transmigrator in this world when he appeared, so up until meeting sqh his survival was due to sqq. and on some fucked up level he feels like he owes sqq for saving him

yes ! there's been a lot of research on this !

each word is a different article :) always do ur own research; some are just lit reviews, some not controlled/randomised, i haven't read them all (mostly skimmed abstracts), but the general consensus is yes ! here are some things i gathered (again, i skimmed, always fact-check things urself!!)

1) children perceived by teachers as more beautiful get better results in school

2) more attractive people have more occupational and economic success

3) less attractive rape victims are held more responsible for their assault (?? can we start society over . please) . bias stronger for male observers than female observers .

4) thinner women (well, lower waist to hip ratio) were more likely to be believed about being assaulted

5) the bystander effect was likely to impact people witnessing the harassment/assault of more conventionally feminine women

6) in some cases, attractiveness bias is shown to be reversed in same-sex individuals in a professional setting, in some cases, the opposite is true . either way, the combination of attractiveness and sex seems to have an impact

7) people are more likely to make eye contact with physically attractive faces . effect stronger for women's faces than men's.

8) even university students show employability bias for more attractive students (it's not necessarily a matter of education)

9) attractive political candidates are viewed more favourably by voters than non-attractive candidates

10) adults believed infants 48 hour old, 3 month old and 9 month old infants they viewed as more beautiful were more likeable, smart, "better babies," and conversely "low attractiveness" babies were seen as causing more problems
