STOOTLERRRRRR 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
and ben\stu is something i didn’t know i needed - and @stokesy55s ‘just survive’ hooked me into this ship
jimmy/stu might be broaderson instead of branderson but don’t quote me on that
joe/mark hits different after woodys book
brinn has my heart
ali/kp is another one i like because the protential for drama and angst is unmatched
jimmy/swanny is also another one i like , chapter 1 of @kutubiyya they way u say ur sorry got me on this ship (even though the fics cookerson) - - they’re Jimmy and Swanny, aren’t they? Swanny and Jimmy. Jimmyandswanny. Always together. Everyone knows that, too. Right? -> this is what got me
also as crack ship broady/kp because … hate sex? also jimmy/kohli because again hate sex.
pat/chris is one i didn’t think i’d like but pat has somehow worked his australian self into my english heart
Hi, welcome to I'm procrastinating because my to-do list is overwhelming and the next chapter of INAO has taken such a left veer I'm not even sure what I'm doing with it anymore. I'd like to take a moment to check in on some ship names because I keep using some and I have no idea if they already have established ship names or if like I might be doing a public service??
Of course with images because these boys make me very happy:
Kicking it off strong - Cookerson (Alastair Cook/Jimmy Anderson)
Tumblr media
(totally didn't see sneaky Joe off Ali's shoulder but it's so apt it's staying xD)
Speaking of our baby-faced batsman: J2 (Jos Buttler/Joe Root)
(or Roottler as I use because the J2 tag is filled with unknowns that are not our cricket boys and roottler is sort of like adorable??)
Tumblr media
My personal fave: Stoot 🫶 (Joe Root/Ben Stokes)
Tumblr media
Staying on the Benny train, of course Stoody 🫶 (Ben Stokes/Mark Wood)
Tumblr media
For me, because of Lords, Day 5 2023 Ashes wonder show: Brokes (Ben Stokes/Stuart Broad)
Tumblr media
And Storgan (Ben Stokes/Eoin Morgan)
Tumblr media
(we will get to trios later)
One I'm looking forward to exploring - Bos (Jos Buttler/Ben Stokes)
Tumblr media
(Definetly some RR inspo coming for this one)
Bowlers United and the Old Guard: Branderson (Stuart Broad/Jimmy Andrson)
Tumblr media
And one I know little about, but everyone seems to love: Brinn (Stuart Broad/Steven Finn)
Tumblr media
Quick insert because if this isn't love I don't know what is: Porran (Ollie Pope/Sam Curran)
Tumblr media
Another Joey ship enters the list - this time Woot (Joe Root/Mark Wood)
Tumblr media
(also that hip bump celebration I need more context for and the whole part in Mark's book where he talks about how amazing Joey was as captain - plus insert from Joey himself - just yes)
And sticking with Marky-moo: Plunkood (Liam Plunkett/Mark Wood)
Tumblr media
And, ofc because of the Headingley stories from this year: Maris (Mark Wood/Chris Woakes)
Tumblr media
Next up, one that makes no sense but also makes perfect sense for reasons I don't understand: Bairoakes (Chris Woakes/Jonny Bairstow)
Tumblr media
And a Chrissy because he's just so gosh damn nice and of course he'd take pity on an Aussie: Woakins (Pat Cummins/Chris Woakes)
Tumblr media
(I'm sorry this is such a bad pic - if someone has something better please let me know)
And this... This my brain won't let go of: Batty (Ben Stokes/Pat Cummins)
(batty is too cute ngl)
Tumblr media
Sticking with the Aussies (sorry, these are not my ships so I've probably missed some): Pitch (Pat Cummins/Mitch Marsh)
Tumblr media
I have on good authority: Hazlarc (Josh Hazlewood/Mitchell Starc)
Tumblr media
No one can deny (even if it's one sided sometimes): Labusmith/Stevus (Marnus Labuschange/Steve Smith)
(i can't decide which I prefer)
Tumblr media
And this one is just canon. It's real and I'll never be persuaded otherwise: Stoinpa (Marcus Stoinis/Adam Zampa)
Tumblr media
Now to a few trios that seem to have everyone's hearts:
Stoodgan 🫶 (Eoin Morgan/Ben Stokes/Mark Wood)
Tumblr media
(apologies for the watermark, images are very limited)
My new and growing fave: Stoottler (Jos Buttler/Ben Stokes/Joe Root)
Tumblr media
There are probably so many I have missed and so many from other teams I haven't got here and I'm sorry - but I'm still relatively new to all this so please spam me in comments or anon asks with other ships I've completely missed!

The Sailor and The Samurai - I
Mizu x Femme Shipmate/Pirate Reader
Hi my lovelies! I haven't updated in so long and I'm sorry but college has been kicking my ass. (Why tf am I studying biochemistry - because I hate myself). Anyways, I hope to update my other stories soon (I've had chapters for months now, they just need to be edited lol). So for now, here's a little BES fic because I'm in love with this show :)
(Notes: Reader's father is Irish in the fic but she will not be described physically except for having super long curly hair because I like projecting my hair goals onto stories, also I will be using he/him pronouns for Mizu since they are currently being perceived as a man.)
Part 2 now out
Tumblr media
Y/n woke up with a splitting headache from the rum she had the previous night. She made a note to self to not attempt to out drink her father, even if he was pushing 60. Rolling out of her cot, she slipped on a blouse and trousers she had acquired from a crew mate at some point. They barely fit, but it was far better than the dresses and corsets she wore whenever they docked back home.
She walked onto the deck just in time to watch over the vast ocean as they approached the isolated island of Japan. She'd been there many times in her career but had only ever been to the ports to assist with loading goods when the crew needed it. Today, there was no need. Instead, she watched with mild curiosity from the crow's nest as crates were loaded onto The Banshee.
The cargo seemed standard: silks, swords, exotic fish. The things nobles in England dreweld over. Yet the passengers were anything but standard. Y/n could barely believe her eyes when the infamous Abijah Fowler was brought on board with guards on each side of him. He was brought to the detention cell, which would have otherwise been used when her father was tired of a crewmate's drunken antics.
Y/n was so taken aback by Fowler's presence she nearly missed the passenger behind him: a young man, a few years older than y/n herself, clad in Japanese garb and yellow glasses. It seemed odd to her, as it was rather overcast outside but she didn't give it a second thought. What she was truly curious about was why Abijah Fowler was on their vessel.
As the ship took sail, she climbed down from the nest and made her way to the detention cell with a curious, if not mischievous, grin.
"I never thought you'd be joining us for London," she teased as she stood outside of his cel, as though dangling her freedom like a carrot. She did not like Fowler one bit, but she found him almost as amusing as she found him vile. Entertainment was hard to come by at sea, so who could really blame her?
"Well I for one am always happy to see you," he said, grabbing her hand through the bars and kissing her knuckles. She rolled her eyes as she pulled her hand back from him.
"What brings you back to the isle?" she asked. "My father doesn't even enjoy England, and he's still in good standing, legally speaking."
"Perhaps he's a better Irishman then me," Fowler said with a shrug. "What does it matter to you?"
The girl looked up in faux innocence. "Oh, I'm just curious."
"Well, why don't you hunt down the samurai that's on board and he can let you know why I'm going back to London," Fowler finally told her. "You've picked up quite a bit of Japanese, haven't ya?"
"Alright, I'll see you around then," she said as she turned to leave.
"You have your mother's rear!" He shouted out, as though y/n had forgotten why she had disliked the man so much. She said a silent prayer thanking the heavens he wasn't roaming freely as she roamed the ship looking for the mysterious man with glasses, which was simple enough.
He stood on the poop deck, staring out onto the ocean, as anyone who has ever treaded water has. The waters had a way of commanding one's attention.
"Hello good sir," the young woman greeted she climbed the stairs, stopping to curtsey out of habit. She'd managed to have some resemblance of good manners despite being raised at sea by a captain with a drinking habit.
The young man stared at her, which was a common response from many men upon seeing her for the first time, regardless of national origin. In fact, Englishmen seemed most taken aback by her appearance. Her hair was long and unkempt, falling down her back in ringlets instead of being pinned into an updo of a proper lady. Her shirt nearly fell from her shoulders and around her neck was a long, beaded necklace that seemed to trail down between her breasts. Y/n giggled at the man's reaction, having expected nothing less.
"Oh, I'm sorry," he spoke casting his eyes away from her eyes out of embarrassment, then down to her strange necklace, then back up to her eyes.
"Don't worry about it," she said, leaning against the Banshee's railing. "It is lovely to make your acquaintance, may I ask your name?"
"Mizu," he answered, finally less taken aback by the strange woman. "And you are?*
"Y/n," she said, reaching out her hand limply, again out of habit more than anything else. Mizu looked at her with pure confusion, almost fear. Y/n giggled again, this time to hide her embarrassment. "It is expected to kiss a lady's hand where we're going."
Mizu nodded and cautiously took the girl's hand, which was smaller then her own, and cool to the touch from the ocean winds. He kissed it with the gentleness most men she encountered lacked.
"You'll make a proper gentleman," y/n remarked as she retrieved her hand once again and placed it under her head. She scanned Mizu as had her. Admittedly he was rather dashing. So much so she'd forgotten what she was originally there to ask him. Fowler was the last thing on her mind. "What's with the spectacles?" she asked.
"My eyes are unnatural back home," he told her.
"Is that so?" Y/n asked rhetorically. Perhaps without thought for personal space, she leaned forward and took the yellow frames from the man's face. She was greeted with eyes that would put the sea herself to shame. "You needn't wear these anymore, your eyes are beautiful." The young sailor folded the glasses and handed them back to the blue eyed man.
A small smile graced Mizu's face at the first genuine compliment he'd heard in regard to his eyes. He looked over the beautiful yet foreign face of the woman in front of him. The journey to London was certainly something to look forward to now.

Save Her
Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader, Platonic!BAU x Reader, Morgan!Sister Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/N has a past she's never told anyone about, she was involved in some heavy things when she lived in England with her Aunt and Uncle. Things she thought were murdered along with her best friend, things she thought went missing with her boyfriend. Things that followed her to Quantico, Virginia. Previous Chapter~ Next Chapter Chapter Warnings: Cursing, Sicknesses, death A/N: I didn't want the character to get confused with Morgan so I put Y/L/N so just pretend your last name is the name you took when you moved with your aunt and uncle.
________________________________________ I got out and gave the keys to Benny and helped Penny get out of the car and into the building. I thanked George for holding the door up and we walked into the building. Still holding onto Penny I walked to the elevator and pressed the button. Emily groaned, "Ugh I just want to get into bed and sleep for thirty years." I laughed, the elevator doors opened and we loaded into the elevator. Penny leaned onto my shoulder and started to nod off. "Hey Penny try to stay awake, we still have to get you to my apartment and out of these clothes." She sighed and nodded slightly, the doors opened and we walked down to my apartment. I opened the door and we piled into my apartment. We all helped Penny change into her pink unicorn pajamas, before getting ready for bed ourselves. I decided to sleep in the living room with the girls, I pulled out the blowup mattress for JJ and Emily. Me and Penny got the futon, after getting ready for bed I laid next to Penny and wished the girls goodnight. I laid awake for a while before drifting off to sleep. ________________________________________ 10 years ago ________________________________________ Looking out the window of the airplane I couldn't help but miss home, I told my Aunt about what had happened and she demanded me to move back to America. And to bribe me she used the BAU, she knew I was interested in joining the FBI so she helped me get settled into an apartment in Quantico, Virginia. She also helped me get into a class for the BAU. I didn't want to leave my aunt alone but she always said the same thing, "I'm not alone, your uncle will be here to keep me company." My uncle who died three years ago from cancer and I always respond with "He'll always keep you company." and she would smile and give me a long hug. When the plane landed I arrived at the gate and spotted my brother and some bubbly broad next to him. I rushed towards him and gave him a massive hug. "Derek! I missed you so much!" I exclaimed and pulled away, "How's my older brother been." He smirks "I've been good, oh this is Penelope Garcia. Babygirl this is Y/N Y/L/N. Since you're starting training at the BAU you'll be seeing her a lot." I looked over at her and smiled shaking her hand. "I've heard so much about you, all good things I promise." She exclaims, I laugh, "He better be telling you good things." She giggles. "I don't need my soon to be team thinking badly of me." I say looking directly at Derek, he chuckles nervously and nods. We walk to grab my bags and leave the airport, "So I heard that Aunty set you up with an apartment. Is that true?" I nodded, "She wouldn't tell me how much the place cost because from the pictures she showed me the place seems pretty pricey." Derek shakes his head with a slight smile and grabs my bags. "Now you and I both know how stubborn that woman is." I laughed as we walked out the airport and headed to his black SUV. "Damn Der, where did you get this beauty?" He smirked, "Perks of the job sweetie. You'll get there one day." He placed my bags in the trunk and we got in the car, "Alright lets get you to your new home." He started the SUV and we drove to the building and when we arrived my jaw dropped. "Wow I didn't expect her to go this far with my new apartment." I got out of the car when a chauffeur came up to us, "Hello my name is Benny, I'm one of this fine establishments chauffeurs and this is Chris he will be taking your bags up to your apartment Miss Y/L/N." I looked at him shocked, "You know who I am?" He nodded "Your Aunt sent us an image of you so we knew to give you the right room." Derek gave my bags to Chris and he put them on the cart and entered the hotel. My aunt really outdid herself this time. I couldn't believe she would blow off this much money for me, I turned to the chauffeur, "Just out of curiosity, how much did my aunt spend on my apartment?" He smiled "She didn't spend anything on your apartment, she owns the place." ________________________________________ Taglist~ @sebastiansstanswhore

So I saw MP last week in theater, (haven't gotten to watch it again yet) and I also thought the book was superior. Would love to dial in to the hot take hotline and hear your UO if you feel like sharing. My UO is the relationship w/ older Tom/Marion was too amicable in the movie. I felt like in the book they were not chummy playing cards at the table and stuff, they were just kind of roommates in a way. I also felt like leaving out the fact that Tom continued to sleep with different men after Patrick, even though a small detail mentioned at the end of the book, it was kind of important due to how it effected their future relationship. I did shed a tear at the last scene though between tom and patrick, I didn't expect it and it was gorgeous.
anon right after this ask: Drop your uo’s jen 🗣️
+++++++++++++
Okay, it's Friday night, I've had some drinks, always a risk in the inbox, but here goes, I agree with you, @amihazzanough, plus I thought Linus was the weakest link, older Tom might have *sounded* like Harry in intonation from time to time, but his acting was wooden, and it took me out of that last scene, apart from Rupert's performance, which was solid throughout. YES, the finger touch was moving as a gesture, but you know who sold it 100%? Rupert GODDAMNED Everett, he carried the full load of the older cast 100000%. I know it sounds annoying to say the book was far far superior to the film, but it was, and that's because NOBODY in it is straight, including Marion. Even Tom is clearly coded as not straight from the jump, it's the way Patrick is the person he falls for that forces his hand into a publicly straight relationship, especially given his job, that ends up being their mutual undoing. By erasing that, it's just weird to see older Tom do...nothing? To have this marriage for 40 years, and it's only last week he saw one (1) loving m/m couple in BRIGHTON that gives him any feeling of regret, after living through the sexy 70s, through AIDS in the 80s, through the rebirth of liberation that started in the 90s, especially where he was in England? And with Marion being a straight homophobe in the movie, her motivation to give them any kind of closure makes zero sense vs. the uneasy alliance you get the vibes with in the text. Tom in the book tells her pointblank he's still going to fuck men, deal with it (paraphrasing), which gives his coming back to Patrick this extra poignancy that is absolutely missing in the movie. All this said, I actually liked the movie, the aesthetics are bang on, the younger cast truly carries it, geddit, intimacy coordinator, David is a revelation in particular, but it could have been all-caps GREAT had they decided to keep both Marion and Tom not straight, as they are in the book (and/or at least explained some of this missing context), and that is my UO.

ok but can we talk about jess and kerry? like jess being the one to show the rabbit on the call and logan being nice to kerry? i’ll admit my thoughts aren’t fully formed but something about assistants and caring and being cared for????
cont. (jess and kerry) the fact that it’s likely that kendall’s kids are very close to jess is very 🥲🥴
God, yeah, it's a really interesting one, especially since Shiv, Roman and Connor have never been shown to have personal staff in the same way, although they undoubtedly do.
I've been thinking so much about that beat with Logan and Kerry in this last episode where Logan puts the president on mute and summons Kerry to him – playful and conspiratorial – and asks her if she'd like to hear what an angry president sounds like. The look of real happiness on his face when she giggles.
The show has often used other characters as proxies, I think, for the Roys as children – most notably with Iverson for Kendall (and Iverson for Roman too, given Logan slapped him as an adult in 2.06) – and I think that moment with Kerry was very much in the same vein.
After all, it's such a fatherly beat for Logan – paternalistic and indulgent in a way that's really easy to imagine he was sometimes with his own kids when they were younger, when that sort of thing was enough to make them happy.
Logan's a complicated character who I think can sometimes be oversimplified, and I think there's this interesting shade to his dynamic with his children where his own refusal to see himself as aging is projected onto them. After all, if he's not getting older, how can they be? He wants them to be happy with scraps and indulgences and shoulder squeezes and being told they're good kids, because they probably were happy with that once, and it's fostered an arrested development across the whole family where everything's just kind of constantly compounding, slight after slight, wound after wound.
In a lot of ways too, I think Kerry can be partially seen as a proxy for Kendall. Her first appearance in the show is in 2.07 as the Roy's go back to England, and it's really when Kendall's starting to regain some independence from his father in the aftermath of 1.10. For that first half of season 2, Kendall was the carer, the assistant – he was the obedient son, taking care of his father's medication, acting on his father's every whim. 2.07's notable in that sense, because Naomi's starting to have an influence over him, and Logan takes him to the boy's house specifically to re-tighten the leash. Kerry's next appearance is in Congress, again where we see Kendall take on a degree of independence again, even while he protects his father, and across this season, we've seen her wrangle in the way Kendall was in those early s2 episodes.
I don't know. It's not a fully fleshed out thought, haha, but that scene on the plane combined with the loaded, uncertain, guarded-yet-vulnerable looks between Kendall and Logan at lunch after Logan's spiel – I think there's a lot you can read into it, and yeah, I think it's about care, but I also think there's this need Logan has for his kids to be children still. Not just to combat his own sense of mortality (which he of course became very aware of again in this episode), but because he wants them easy, he wants them on the plane with him, obedient (gosh, he even tells Kendall to behave on the phone at the start of the ep) and happy to see him and delighted at any indulgence.
He misses who they were, and doesn't know how to deal now with who they are, failing or unwilling to see how he's the one who's made them like that.
Jess and Kendall are really different to me. I think his relationship with her reveals a lot of things – his insecurities and dependencies, the way he hides when it comes to things he doesn't want to deal with. Kendall's a deep blackhole of neediness, and Jess is there to, well, assist. Kendall just needs a hell of a lot of assistance, haha.
It's interesting though too that Kendall's really using Jess as a bridge to his family this season in a way that we haven't really seen before. She mediated the phonecall between Kendall and Logan in 3.01, shepherded all his siblings into Rava's apartment in 3.02, and now is holding an iPad to connect his kids to a giant rabbit in 3.04.
She doesn't feel like a proxy to me in the same way Kerry did in this episode, but I think there's something to be said in the way that Kendall uses Jess not neccessarily as an extension of himself, but as a sort of mask. She's the face that picks up drugs for him, she (and Gerri and Karolina) are the ones who clean up his shoplifting, she's the voice when Logan rings. She holds up the iPad for the children his sister's just told the world he's estranged from.
Kendall, at his core, is just constantly terrified, and I think more than anything, Jess provides a sort of safety for him. She's Willa without the sex.
I guess that's sort of telling in it's own way maybe – Logan, Connor and Kendall all seek support, but Logan and Connor want comfort, and Kendall wants safety.

ok your medieval posts are all things of beauty and I am delightedly working my way through them to find new research materials for the lesbian-Robin-Hood-set-during-the-reign-of-Edward II webcomic I'm working on, THANK YOU. I've been listening to lectures and books on medieval times but the folks you've mentioned sound like they have more of the depth and specific focus I'm interested in, compared to the general stuff I've been poking at. THANKS!
Also, I was wondering if you have any favorite sources on ole Ned and family, particularly his last years? Or anything on the coup at Nottingham Castle? Isabella? Just like. All those fascinating, messy people? I don’t have enough familiarity with the scholarship around them to be able to tell if I’ve got good sources or no, so if you have the time I would love to hear your thoughts.
Okay, first of all, that sounds like an Amazing webcomic and if you ever finish/post it, please tag me because I would looooove to read it.
Next, general-overview books on medieval history can be very hit or miss, so I can imagine it’s been hard to find good stuff (and because of the obvious fact that 1000 years of history in a vast sociopolitical and geographical span does not at all fit easily into your average 300-page book). The book I am currently teaching to my first-year undergrads is Chris Wickham’s Medieval Europe, which I haven’t finished all the way yet, but he’s incredibly distinguished and accomplished (if you know The Inheritance of Rome, same guy – he’s professor at All Souls in Oxford, which is my dream job). I’ve also just come across Why The Middle Ages Matter: Medieval Light on Modern Injustice, which is more of a thematic study where individual experts submitted essays on a particular element – women, homosexuality, race, religion, labor, refugees, disability, the church/clerical abuse, and other relevant topics. It’s absolutely wonderful at challenging the ‘Dark Ages’ mindset and explaining the importance of socially engaged history and all the other stuff that I try to do in my work. So yes.
As for stuff on Edward II specifically, the first name that comes to mind is definitely Ian Mortimer. (He is the author of the Time Traveller’s Guide To… series if you’ve come across those, and The Time Traveller’s Guide to Medieval England is set around the mid-14th century specifically, so that will be incredibly helpful for particular social and cultural details. I’ve read that one and it’s great, he has absolutely done his homework and used his reading of texts to answer the questions that we sometimes want to know about the past more than the abstract/macrohistorical stuff: what did they eat? What did they do? How did they dress? Etc. So yes, if you’re writing/drawing something set in the 14th century, absolutely get your hands on a copy of that.
Mortimer has also written (well, loads of stuff really, he’s quite prolific) The Greatest Traitor: The Life of Sir Roger Mortimer, the 1st Earl of March. That will cover exactly the period you’re looking at (the end of Edward’s reign, Isabella and Mortimer’s coup, Mortimer’s execution, etc). He has written the forward for Kathryn Warner’s Edward II: The Unconventional King. (She has also just come out with a book on Isabella.) All of these are intended for a popular audience and should be fairly readable rather than a heavy academic slog, though I’ve not read them specifically. As I said, Mortimer is a bit of the ‘go to name’ for Edward II (you will certainly encounter his opinions on Edward’s supposed death in 1327 if you read any of his stuff) so you should be in good hands there.
Elizabeth Hallam has also written extensively on the Plantagenets. Of hers, there is Four Gothic Kings: The Turbulent History of Medieval England and the Plantagenet Kings (1216-1377), which covers Henry III and Edward I through III. (That link is to the 1987 version, but I think there’s been a revised version since then – you can get anything of hers quite cheap on abebooks) She also has The Itinerary of Edward II and His Household, 1307-1328, which may be a bit hard to get your hands on, as it’s an edited volume of his royal itinerary (as it says on the tin) and not really a popular press book. However, that will give you very detailed information on where Edward was when, and possibly also on household expenses (though you might need to find a copy of his Pipe Rolls for that – I’m not sure if they have those in printed editions, and it might be more research than you feel like doing as a non-specialist, but the option is out there…)
There are obviously many books written about the battle of Bannockburn if that’s going to be part of your research; I think the most recent is Bannockburn: Scotland’s Greatest Fight for Independence. A somewhat older (but still classic) book that covers the situation more generally is Robert Bruce and the Community of the Realm of Scotland, though these are obviously both centered on the Scots rather than Edward II. They should cover both sides’ involvement and background, however, and in the case of the latter, Robert the Bruce’s political relationship with both Edward I and Edward II.
Anyway, I hope this is a good start for you, and let me know how you get on with all that. And yes, create this webcomic, yesssss.
