Stalwart Strider
"He sees and hears everything, as if he had the eyes of a hawk and the ears of a fox, like some kind of mythical beast. Fighting tooth and nail, he drove away bandits and ruffians like devils with all the auspicious momentum of the suanni."
— A plaque of gratitude received by the Sword and Strongbox Secure Transport Agency from a merchant whose caravan was safely escorted by Gaming
â—† Name: Gaming
â—† Title: Leonine Vanguard
â—† "Sword and Strongbox" Transport Guard
â—† Vision: Pyro
â—† Constellation: Leo Expergiscens
If you happen to hear the sound of drums and gongs as you're walking through the streets of Liyue Harbor, let your ears lead the way. With a bit of luck, you might just be fortunate enough to witness a performance of Gaming's remarkable Wushou Dance.
When he puts on his mask, he shakes his head and blinks like a waking beast. The vast array of emotions he conjures up, the unpredictable twists and turns... Following his every move with rapture, the audience can't help but cheer and applaud.
"Thank you for your support, everyone! And remember, if someone you know's thinking of booking a Wushou Dance, don't forget to recommend the 'Mighty Mythical Beasts'!"
It's just a shame that, more often than not, he receives nothing but applause in return. But Gaming doesn't let this get to him — he laughs it off, saying that the audience's attention is all the recognition he needs.
Once the crowd has dispersed and his mask is off, Gaming swiftly returns to being a "guard" and thinking of work matters once more: How many cargo shipments still need delivering? Which clients does he need to escort? And so on...
Usually, when there's nothing urgent on, he heads to Xinyue Kiosk to while away the time with some dim sum — a pot of tea, a selection of bite-sized nibbles, and leisurely chatter in the company of good friends.
As a guard, the task of escorting goods from Yilong Wharf to Liyue Harbor couldn't be easier for Gaming. But as the head of the "Mighty Mythical Beasts," his dream of making the Wushou Dance a regular occurrence in Liyue Harbor still has a long, long road ahead of it...
So in the meantime, why not sit and enjoy another cup of tea?

I understand Gaming is probably pronounced "gah-ming" (or something similar). I know this. I get it. When I saw his name, that was my instinctual pronunciation because I knew it wouldn't be pronounced like the English word. It's a lovely name.
HOWEVER
That does not change the fact that having to search "genshin impact gaming" makes it infinitely more difficult to find what you're looking for.
#genshin impact#genshin gaming#genshin impact gaming#look I like him and it seems like he has parallels to Xiao so. he baby#but also this was an interesting localization choice

introject of a POC in a white body culture is not knowing what to call yourself but not having a name that you can use because you can't use your source's name but you don't like anything else.
Honestly I am so grateful that my source's name is spelled exactly the same as an English word, I just have to adjust the pronunciation and it's a pretty decent placeholder name for until I find one I actually like (my name is Gaming, pronounced gay-ming and my source is called Gaming, pronounced gah-ming) I feel so bad for any introject of a POC in a white body going through the same thing without a source with a name easily adjustable to something acceptable for you to use.

So Cloud Retainer (in human form) will be playable (her playable name is Xianyun) and also a new character, Gaming (yes, yes, I know, but his name is pronounced Gah-Ming iirc)!
I like them both and I want them both.
Bird woman and lion dance boy, elegant and cute!

Guide to a few common Genshin Impact mispronunciations!
I am politely asking my fellow fans to take a moment to consider that, in a game taking inspiration from so many languages, characters' names will probably *not* be pronounced how they look like they would with English phonetics.
Biggest recent one being GAMING - I *know* it's tempting to say it like the English word "gaming." But it's not. This character is from Liyue. And if the English Genshin dub is faithful to any of the authentic pronunciations of names from the original language, it's Liyue. I don't have personal experience in any Chinese language, so I don't know which syllable has emphasis, but I can be pretty certain even before the character's official release that it's pronounced "gah-ming."
While I'm at it, I want to spread awareness about the correct pronunciation of TIGHNARI. I'm honestly a bit baffled about how Anglo-centric the dub (and the fandom) went in the mispronunciation of this one. Why assume that "igh" is pronounced like the English "high" if it's not an English name? In actuality, the "i" is short, and the "gh" is a unique, guttural Arabic phoneme. The closest way I can describe it from hearing my Islamic Art & Architecture teacher say it is, it's almost like a light grumble, or halfway between a "g" and silence? I'm sure there's videos out there on how to correctly pronounce Tighnari from those who actually speak Arabic. Since I don't, and haven't grown up making that exact sound, I approximate by saying "Tig-nari" and just putting the G halfway there, or making it a bit more breathy.
I'm also gonna talk about my personal favorite mispronunciation: KLEE. Looks easy, right? It actually is! The double "e" in German is said like "ay", so her name is said like the English word "clay." NOT rhyming with "glee." Please.
(Please feel free to add your own, or expand upon/correct the info here if you're a native speaker of one of these languages.)

Okay to be fair, I know it's not literally pronounced that way, it looks like it's probably pronounced something like Gah-Ming, but it was just the kneejerk reaction of seeing "GAMING" written on a character on the official Genshin YouTube channel.
I can't believe they literally named the boy Gaming
