WHAT EXPECTATIONS DO YOU HOLD TOWARDS YOUR PLOTTING PARTNER: I mean, if we’re actively plotting something I at least expect some back and forth?? But if it’s just general spewing of shit about stuff our characters might do I don’t necessarily expect it to become a thread or anything. Sometimes I just like to scream and think about stuff with other people lmao.I don’t even really expect plotting all the time, unless you have a really good idea then I’m all for it!! totally!! I love a good plotted thread but I am also cool just going with the punches.

WHEN YOU NOTICE THE PLOTTING IS RATHER ONE-SIDED, WHAT DO YOU DO?: If the person doesn’t seem into it I’ll probably just drop it? I’m not going to pressure anyone into any sort of rp they’re not vibing with, it’s fine.

HOW DO YOU USUALLY PLOT WITH OTHERS, DO YOU GIVE INPUT OR LEAVE MOST WORK TOWARDS YOUR PARTNER?: I love that this meme assumes I plot a lot lmfao. Uhh...I find it quite difficult to come up with a lot of different active scenarios or stories but I do frequently like to discuss what ifs between my characters and whoever I’m talking to and that often can evolve into an idea for a thread which I am all for taking places. I wouldn’t necessarily call it plotting because it doesn’t always have to turn into something, but its just fun little banter about our characters and their reactions. If I am trying to buckle down and plot I will do my best to contribute to whatever we’re trying to plan?

WHEN A PARTNER DROPS THE THREAD, DO YOU WISH TO KNOW?: YES / NO / DEPENDS. - And why?: I won’t be mad, just be like ‘hey can we drop this?’ and I’ll be like “cool”. I get that sometimes you just can’t find the words to reply to something and that’s ok. But just let me know so I’m not sitting there waiting for a reply I’m never going to get.

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY LEAD YOU TO DROP A THREAD?: Either an natural ending of the thread or I just....can’t think of any juice to keep it going and get stuck behind a wall. I am MORE than happy to start something fresh and new when threads are ended or dropped!

- AND WHY?: I think a lot of misunderstanding stems from a lack of communication. Do I talk OOC with ALL the people I rp with? No, but If I have concerns or questions about a thread or something we’re doing I am 100% going to talk to them about it to make sure nothing gets misconstrued. I get people get anxious but like...if you have the balls to write a character on the internet with a stranger you can send them an IM if you have a questions/concerns. None of us are mind readers, so don’t leave your partner in the dark about your thoughts and feelings. Obviously if they are writing with you they don’t hate you. 90% of us don’t bite and are just lame nerds behind a computer screen, so....

ARE YOU OKAY WITH ABSOLUTE HONESTY, EVEN IF IT MAY MEANS HEARING SOMETHING NEGATIVE ABOUT YOU AND/OR PORTRAYAL?: I mean, I’m not going to LOVE hearing something negative but if its a valid point or concern I’m absolutely going to listen to it and try to rectify it? Problem is a lot of people thinly spew hate or baseless negativity and then thinly veil it as “criticism” that stems their personal feelings about a character than it really is anything constructive, which is a no go for me. Will I 100% always agree with how everyone else plays their characters? No, but if its not hurting anyone and they’re having fun I’m not going to say anything to them. I 100% welcome constructive criticism or tough questions! It’s one way to improve.

DO YOU THINK YOU CAN HANDLE SUCH SITUATION IN A MATURE WAY? YES / NO.

WHY DO YOU RP AGAIN, IS THERE A GOAL?: My goal is really just to have fun and enjoy myself. The longer I am here the less I am worried about doing big deep threads or having amazing fancy graphics for that RPC clout. I’m here to have fun with my friends and play my OC that I love. Again, I don’t profess myself to be much of a writer so I’m not technically here to really further and deepen my writing skills. That sounds bad, I don’t mean to say I am adverse to improvement and I am always looking for ways or feedback that could make my storytelling better, but it is not my main goal or reason for why I rp, if that makes sense. Telling a narrative has always been something that’s been difficult for me (I HATED having to write stories in school and avoided creative writing like the plague) but I really welcome ways that could help me be better, because it hasn’t always been something natural to me.

WISHLIST, BE IT PLOTS OR SCENARIOS: I YEARN for a good thread with a Shunsui about Miki taking over the 8th division and how she changes it since his time there. She really worries about still holding onto his legacy while also making a name for herself and differentiating herself from him and how he ran things and would really want his feedback and approval. I would also really love if there were some characters that really took an interest in the kinds of stuff she does with the things she grows in her garden and greenhouse. It is more than just “ooh, look at the pretty flowers” and it is not really something I’ve gotten to explore despite my time here.

THEMES I WON’T EVER RP / EXPLORE: Anything gross. Rape/noncon/underage/furry or weird extreme fetish shit. I 100% do not vibe with racism, transphobia, homophobia, etc. I do not mind some darker themes but I don’t really have any interest on writing any threads where Miki is deeply deeply hurt or tortured or anything like that, which kind of falls under the gore category. Will I write her injured and do I welcome some kinds of sparring/fighting threads? Yes. But I won’t subject her to gross violence and having the shit being beat out of her. Miki is not infallible but I don’t want to write it.

WHAT TYPE OF STARTERS DO YOU PREFER / DISLIKE, CAN’T WORK WITH?: Starters that are too open ended, start with a general with a question and/or little scenario building. You know like the “why are you here”, “what are you doing”, “who are you” sorts of starters. They’re boring and I will most likely run out of ways to keep going with them. Set a scene for me and I will have a much easier time!

WHAT TYPE OF CHARACTERS CATCH YOUR INTEREST THE MOST?: That’s a good question...Miki tends to like friendly people (obviously) but also gets a kick out of interacting with cold or difficult to talk to characters (think Soi fon, Kensei, Byakuya etc) because she sees it as something of a challenge. She wants to see if she can befriend them. I also like characters that have an interesting theme or shitck .

WHAT TYPE OF CHARACTERS CATCH YOUR INTEREST THE LEAST?: Characters that are not really in her age group (think the karakura kids). I have the most difficult time thinking about how they might even interact in a way that is not on the most superficial level. Also characters that I can’t realistically see her meeting or running into.

WHAT ARE YOUR STRONG ASPECTS AS RP PARTNER?: I am pretty easy to reach OOC, and once I’m in I’m in. I love talking about our characters interactions and will spam you with asks and shit if that’s what you want. I will talk all day about our characters if you let me. I will send you stupid memes. Even if I am not posting on tumblr I’m easily reached through discord. And Idk my oc is good??? maybe???

WHAT ARE YOUR WEAK ASPECTS AS RP PARTNER?: I would say I’m inconsistent? I know its covid times right now but I do work a full time job that takes a lot of my time and energy usually and I absolutely can’t write when I’m mentally exhausted. It won’t happen. So there may be times where you just won’t see any posting from me and it may take a long time for me to answer a thread or ask. As much as I also don’t like to label myself this way...I guess I technically do suffer from chronic pain (I have a hip malformation), and sitting is one of the things that really can exacerbate my hip and back pain meaning sometimes I just can’t tolerate sitting at my desk for very long or even sitting up in my bed which really prevents me from writing sometimes even when I want to. I wish mobile draft writing was better lol

DO YOU RP SMUT?: YES / NO/ DEPENDS.

- WHEN DO YOU RP SMUT? MORE OUT OF FUN OR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT?: Too much smut is boring, obviously, and I’m not really a fan of smut really just for the sake of smut and threads like that tend to die for me. And I also don’t rp smut with just anyone, there has to be an established relationship between the characters. But if it flows with the story and it makes sense for the scenario then yeah, I’m down for a good smut thread.

- ANYTHING YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO RP THERE?: I’m pretty vanilla and I didn’t really give Miki anything that’s really nonstandard. I’m not going to shame anyone for what they’re into or their characters but there’s just kinks I couldn’t convincing write, would be ooc, or I just would be too embarrassed. So far I have not run into anything weird though.

ARE SHIPS IMPORTANT TO YOU?: YES / NO

WOULD YOU SAY YOUR BLOG IS SHIP-FOCUSED?: YES?? / NO. Though I mean ship not in a strictly romantic ship sense. I value all ships as in friendships and other relationships, mentor mentee, etc. and it really helps drive story for both characters I think. Miki CRAVES FRIENDSHIPS!! SHE WANTS TO BE YOUR FRIEND!! LET HER!! Even negative relationships have value.

DO YOU USE READ MORE?: YES / NO / SOMETIMES WHEN I WRITE LONG STUFF (ooc stuff).

- WHAT COULD POSSIBLY MAKE YOUR MUSE INTERESTING TOWARDS OTHERS, WHY SHOULD THEY RP WITH THIS PARTICULAR CHARACTER OF YOURS NOW, WHAT POSSIBLE PLOTS DO THEY OFFER?: Miki is unique, I’d like to think. She is a blend of soft and gentle, but also stubborn, opinionated and desperate to prove that she shouldn’t be messed with. I basically wanted a character that just seemed like a living and breathing springtime breeze. I’m not saying necessarily that some of the tropes she holds are entirely unique to the series, but I think its the blend of all her aspects that make her different compared to other canon characters. Plus if you love that plant and flower aesthetique™ you have come to the right place. Plus she takes it further than just an aesthetic or a surface level “I like flowers” aspect of her personality. It runs so deep and she is so passionate about it in so many different ways.

- WITH WHAT TYPE OF MUSES DO YOU USUALLY STRUGGLE TO RP WITH?: Again, ones that I can’t find much of a commonality with so those who are not her age or are strictly human. Though it is not impossible to interact with humans, I prefer to develop her story within the scene of the Seireitei. Also characters that are super volatile and aggressive.

- WHAT DO THEY DESIRE, IS THEIR GOAL?: Peace, accomplishment, happiness mostly. Miki wants to be recognized for her hard work as well as desires to form positive relationships with others. She wants the Gotei to feel less disjointed.

- WHAT CATCHES THEIR INTEREST FIRST WHEN MEETING SOMEONE NEW?: The way they talk, their facial expressions, their eyes.

- WHAT DO THEY VALUE IN A PERSON?: Kindness, determination, drive, sense of humor.

- WHAT THEMES DO THEY LIKE TALKING ABOUT?: Plants, flowers, flower arranging, gardening, poisonous plants and their potential affects and uses, tea, shitty jokes, food, general day to day gossip, handsome men (lol), books, kido and other shinigami arts, human world stuff.

- WHICH THEMES BORE THEM?: Math, long convoluted talks about history, people who talk too much about themselves.

- DID THEY EVER GO THROUGH SOMETHING TRAUMATIC?: The thousand year bloodwar. The death of a romantic partner. The death of her mother.

- WHAT COULD LEAD TO AN INSTANT KILL?: It’s really hard to imagine a scenario where Miki would immediately go in for the kill zero questions asked with no context. Probably only if it’s someone known to be a threat, has done things that are terrible, and is likely to continue being a threat to others or is actively killing/about to kill someone else.

- IS THERE SOMEONE /-THING THEY HATE?: Birds. Hypocrites. Super self important people.

IS YOUR MUSE EASY TO APPROACH?: YES / NO. - Best ways to approach them?: Just roll up on her. She’s easily found in her barracks.

in the morning, through the window shade

okay idk why the entire fic is gone now but im fixing it!!!! im gonna be doin a thing where i post lil shorter fics here first and then on ao3, and this is the first of those!!!!!

Matteo woke up, as he had every morning this summer, with the overwhelming urge to roll over and fall back asleep as fast as he could. He knew that his only plans for the day were going to his stupid, early morning job at the store, and waiting in a quiet, high daze for David to come home. It had been the same thing since he first got the job and David had gotten his own, cooler job that Matteo couldn’t even describe if you paid him. David was happy with it, came home feeling fulfilled and full of stories everyday, and that’s what mattered.

David had really been the only good part of the summer. He had someone to hold and to hold him, to kiss and to kiss him, to listen when he needed to voice his frustrations and to listen to when David had a funny story or saw a dog he liked or ate a sandwich he thought Matteo would have enjoyed.

Matteo hadn’t been as lucky when job hunting, starting too late to find more than a few open spots at various grocery stores. He had picked the closest one, had an average interview, and was promptly given a shift so early it made his head hurt just looking at his schedule.

Not knowing what he wanted to do with his life was starting to show its consequences, and Matteo had spent his free time since getting the job panicking over the job, and how he should know what he wanted to do with his life, and how everyone was doing so much and he was stuck in the same rut doing nothing for his future, making himself less useful than a fucking self checkout machine.

He unhooked his arm from around David’s waist, somehow wiggling himself out of his grip as he slid out of the bed, trying hard not to wake his sleeping boyfriend. David was a pretty light sleeper, but Matteo knew how to get himself up without annoying David by waking him up too early. He had a lot of practice in the art of not being a burden, having spent enough sad, sleepless nights in Jonas’ bed as a young boy to know how to make himself scarce quietly and quickly.

As he got ready, he could feel the beginnings of something dark and sad poking and digging into his brain, giving him a headache that he knew could only be fixed with coffee and some kind of quick breakfast. He shook his head a little, trying to clear the fog from his brain as he put on his work shirt and a pair of his least baggy and most clean pants. Once he was dressed, he walked back over to the bed, running his hand through David’s hair as gently as he could. He needed at least one touch before he left, knowing it would be hours before he got the chance again.

David grumbled in his sleep a little, pushing back against the pressure of Matteo’s hand before settling down again and sighing, a small, involuntary smile appearing on his face. Matteo smiled back, his first real one of the day, and left before he ripped his clothes off and jumped back into bed, sacrificing even more of his future for a couple extra minutes of cuddling.

He started making the coffee, only making enough for one cup because he knew it would be cold by the time David wanted it. He shook his head again, ruffling his hair and rubbing at his scalp hard, trying to rid his brain of the already dismal thoughts flowing through it. He whisked some eggs, throwing them into a pan before he threw himself down into a chair to wait, his coffee brewing steadily with a drip drip drip on the counter.

He sat, observing the early morning gloom around him. It was raining, the sky dreary and gray with just enough sunlight coming in to highlight how dusty their table was, the marks on the floor from shoes and the areas of the counter he messed up with his knife because he was too stupid to remember a fucking cutting board.

He got up to stir his eggs, swirling the spatula around the pan slowly as his thoughts grew more bleak, remembering he was out of weed and almost out of food and how he should have gone shopping after work yesterday but he was just so tired, his body aching and his brain exhausted by its own constant, incessant thinking and worrying and panicking. He wanted it to just shut up for a minute, offer him a moment of calm so he could even begin to piece his thoughts together.

He turned to pour his coffee, not bothering grabbing anything to mix into it, knowing he didn’t care enough for it to taste good. He needed the energy, knew he could drink it faster if it was gross, bitter like the thoughts running through his head. As he placed the pot down and turned his head back to his eggs, he heard a door open and close gently, then the sound of footsteps padding through the flat.

Before he could turn around and ask David what the fuck he was doing up so early when he could sleep for at least an hour after Matteo left, he felt arms curl tightly around his waist, and the strong, secure pressure of his boyfriend’s front pressing into his back. Matteo felt one, two, three soft kisses being placed on the side of his neck before he heard (and felt) David yawn, his arms tightening around Matteo’s middle and squeezing.

“Morning, my love.” David’s voice was rough from sleep, his body warm and comforting where it was curled around Matteo. He yawned again, and shoved his face into Matteo’s shoulder. Matteo smiled, his second one of the day, and turned his head to nuzzle his cheek into David’s hair.

“Morning. I’m an awful boyfriend, I didn’t make you coffee or eggs.” His voice had a joking lilt to it, but his words were a little less than such; he really should’ve thought to make David stuff too, maybe leave him some food in the fridge and have the coffee set to brew, he shouldn’t have even touched David before he left, he probably woke him up and David was considerate enough to wait so it didn’t seem like his fault.

David grunted, poking Matteo in the side hard enough that he let out a noise, and David smiled into his shoulder when he heard it. Matteo himself smiled, his third, and laughed, his first, and settled back into David’s arms as he turned off the stove. With David wrapped around him, the kitchen was brighter, none of the small details he was fretting about as before noticeable.

“No, baby, don’t say that. You’re perfect,” David turned and kissed the side of Matteo’s neck again, “I’m gonna go back to bed when you leave. Just woke up and needed to hold you for a bit.”

“Oh,” Matteo said softly, turning around in David’s grasp and meeting his sleepy eyes, putting his hands more fully into David’s (much too attractive) bedhead, “that’s okay, then.”

“More than okay,” David replied, a tired smile on his face as he moved his hands up Matteo’s body to rest them on his cheeks, his thumbs stroking across Matteo’s cheekbones in a way that was making his heart ache, “now give me a kiss, you ass.”

Okay as I said it’s an au with kittie (6kuro) so I’m gonna grab the things it said and I said lmao

lovelypeaches08/28/2019cole and kai would settle down real late like....in their late thirties because they want to keep their children as safe as possible, being elemental masters and having enemies and all

at first wu wants them to fight longer and shit but hes OLD so who cares and theres probably conflict on thatbut kai and cole are old enough to realized they dont have to be controlled

so they get married, symbolically if anything, because they've been dating for probably a little over a decade now and known each other even longer, AND been living together for the same amount of time

theyre the first of the ninja to settle down, and they buy a small house in a village thats maybe an hour away from ninjago city

the tininess of the house is made up for by the largeness of the yard, where cole likes to garden, especially fruits and vegetables

cole works as a stay at home free lance artist, doing stuff like commissions, book covers, comics, etc for moneykai does something that puts his charisma to use, probably something in business that lets him advertise and talk a lot..he could never settle down for a stay at home job or anything, even with all his thrilling ninja stories

they have enough money from donations and awards to thrive off these jobs, and ninjago probably pays them kind of like retirement

cole cooks for kai so he always has a meal ready when hes home, so then kai cooks on the weekend

anyways, they have two kids, about 3 years aparti haven't figured them much out yet, but kai and cole cook and bake with themcoles parenting style is very protective and rather spoils them, while kai lets them do whatever as long as its not immediately dangerousthey balance each other out well, so their kids grow up loved and well rounded

the kids go to a small school on the outskirts of ninjago city, and get asked about their parents a LOT. they kind of like the attention but it gets irritating

moving on to the other ninja who also start to settle down,jay doesnt really want kids, so he passes on his powers with ~science~ or something, but only when hes a lot olderhe does engineering at borg industries or something, and he messes around a lot but gets away with it bc hes the blue ninjahes like kai and coles kids Fun Uncle, since he lives in a big apartment in downtown ninjago city, with a bunch of cool techkai and coles family often take elongated road trips therejay thinks hes a cool relative but besides being super lenient hea actually kind of embarrassing lol

nya settles down a bit later than the rest of them, because she wants to live her ninja days to the fullesti could go on about my domestic samurai au but her and pixal have a kid who gets nyas water powersnya is much more eager to train her kid than cole and Kai are (they want to start properly training thwir children when theyre like 16, much to wus disappointment)nya doesn't force anyrhing on her kid but she doesnt protect her kid from the fact they'll have to train sooner or latershes determined on still changing the world, so she's a strong political leader, with innovative ideas who doesnt approve of ninjagos government and wants to change it for the betterShe also lives in downtown, but isn't as fun as jayher kid is younger than kai and coles, but kai and coles kids look up to them because they're very independent and skilled! their mom is also super cool, but not in a silly way. she rocks leather jackets and drives her kid around on a motorcycle

lovelypeaches08/28/2019zane is tricky for me...i like to imagine him sticking with lloyd to being a ninja or whatever, since hes going to be alive a lonnggg timehe also wants to respect wus wishes, so he teaches students and fights alongside lloydhe does so much less however, and finds a lot of time to visit his friends

kai and coles kids are shy around him at first, him being a nindroid whose still a ninja, but hes so much nicer and softer than expectedhe always brings them presenrs and enjoys quality time with them, so he's basically their favorite uncle

23) who were you at the beginning of this decade?

2009-2010 was a real distinct year lol i was in my second year of college in the middle of my teens, when i’d hardly really been getting to Explore My Interests Freely up to that point and still wasn’t, but all of a sudden it’s like goddamn i have to figure out my major???? and i’m like, obviously in the middle of only just now Really getting to figure out my identity in this deeper and more genuine way, thanks to being lucky enough to Live On Campus and be away from home like, 2/3 of the year, but i was just like, oh god i’m in Stress Hell now all the time cuz like. i’m trying to figure out my whole thing and what my ~Career~ should be and i just have no idea but am like, trying super hard all the time lol it was not successful and i was just really stressed about it all the time. i was def quieter back then.....pretty lonely at the time, i did not get into mh and gain the presence of any Online Friends until late 2010, and i hadn’t yet been sort of accepted by a small faction of theatre people via my roommate’s connections.....i wasn’t at all Out yet, and was def In Progress of figuring it all out.....i didn’t have nearly the Self-Esteem i have now lmao, it was Not a great time and in a lot of ways ‘09-’10 was the start of a downturn into Worse Than Usual Times, though in Other ways it was definitely an upturn lol like. the latter related to stuff that was important to me / who i am, the former tied to the situations i was in and the godawful morale that resulted

29) a time when the worst case scenario happened but you pulled through?

well by the end of 2012 i had my Wrath Parent deluxe mad at me big time, AND i was stuck at home all of thee time with that (not at all hours but. every day.) it was terrible!!! tf was going on in 2013, cuz that shit was definitely like, a gross blur of a lot of indistinct misery. and then, relatedly, when it was so shitty in 2015 that i was like fantastic, i am so officially sick of this i’m outta here. i revisited some Misery Posts from that period lately for someone stranger on twitter’s project or something, and boy i was having a bad time Summer Of ‘15 lol, things not getting better at home And a job that was so shitty that it was like..................bye. lol. and then i spent a year living out of a minivan. which was real lucky in ways b/c like. infinitely better than if i had not had that minivan. and when that broke down i was also then lucky enough to have this friend who was relatively nearby who’d also been willing to just like, set me up to Not have to ask the lgbt center where that trans-friendly forest zone a couple cities over was. nothing as dramatic as it could’ve been, fortunately

hmmm when leaving The Parents Home overnight, that was intimidating. bit of completely jumping into the unknown there, and also like, when you spend your lifetime assuming that Someone’s Arbitrary Wrath will be uponst you always, it’s hard to shake that sense of dread and doom, like ah jeez i am really potentially bringing hell on myself here........and like i mentioned with Start Of The Decade, there was just a ton of fear there all the time lol, trying to figure out virtually overnight The Whole Of Who I Am And What I Want when i’d only just even gotten to start......also i wanna say i maybe came out in 2011?? and i sort of also felt obligated to come out to my parents also (plus i think i was giving them like, one last chance to surprise me and be decent and kind of Grow Up themselves even tho i was the like, 16 y.o.) which yknow, kids you do not have to come out to anyone at all. someone was talking the other day abt how they didn’t think lgbtq “discourse” had evolved as much as you’d hope over the past decade, but idk about that, it's only a little bit of a wildly complex topic, and for starters Online Trans “Discourse” of a decade back was wayyyyyy in a vastly different place than it is now, leaps and strides really. so the way to ~really~ do it was presented kind of more rigidly i think. anyways i did it via email and was incredibly stressed to even open the reply a couple days later lol......which ended up being really weird and vague, and then there was a phone call where no one brought it up, and the only result was increased ire and resentment :( ........and then there was still like, cops encounters! near or not-as-bad-as-they-could’ve-been vehicular collisions! but tbh generally my reaction to the latter was underwhelming, except for one particular time when i was a passenger and also tense af for the rest of the ride. that’s it for Immediate fear really lol......oh wait one time i was at this decent sized Convention Panel Event and when i’m nervous i can Only talk more (it’s possible!!) and i snuck into line for the q&a and Right when i got to the mic (intimidating) they were like oop we’re low on time, lightning round!! :’] that was obviously more just a crapton of l’anxiete

TDB Rewatch: Britney/Brittany (2x02)

Back when I first was watching the show - after watching this episode, I nearly quit because I thought it was awful. And up until today - I don’t think I really remember why. But watching it in context of one a week, I’m pretty much back to my original thoughts on the episode. It’s kind of awful, and I spent a good 90% of the episode wanting it to be over.

Disclaimer: I’m not a fan of Britney Spears’s music. I have no issue with her personally (I’m indifferent at most.) But my issues with this episode aren’t really even with the music. The performances of the songs were just fine, and well done, imo. Just -- the plot.

I mean, not only are the two main plots (Wemma/Finchel) kind of unbearable to watch because of how awful the characters are, the rest of what’s going on feels shoehorned in to fit around Britney Spears music. I guess the whole point was the ending speech Emma said about taking the drive Spears gives you and channeling it into something good (I think?) but the whole message of the episode seems incredibly muddled and lost underneath spectacle of doing Britney music.

Or. It’s the first (real) time I really think the show forced its plot to wrap around the music and it felt that way. This episode is a mess.

Thoughts:

Where to even start. I guess with Finchel - because it’s what irked me most about the episode. Season 1 Rachel always had a slew of insecurities, but season 2 has ramped them up big time -- first she sends Sunshine to a crack house for fear of losing her spotlight and now she’s so afraid of losing Finn that she’s trying to control him. I get what they’re going for with her - but it’s sad, because while the other characters seem to be getting more development, Rachel feels like she’s taking a step backwards - into this shell of a person. And she keeps making these choices I just can’t get behind.

I guess one thing that stood out to me was when Rachel said something like the relationship works when they feel bad about themselves - which is something Terri said to Will in season 1. Why, show? Why would you take your main couple and give them the same issues as your toxic season 1 couple? I don’t understand this?

Also interestingly, is that Finn doesn’t seem to come out as badly, even though he tries to control Rachel a bit, too.

Idk - I don’t feel like psychoanalyzing Finchel in this review. I think mostly, it reminds me why this couple doesn’t work for me -- even after the figure out they’re trying to control each other - it’s still very much a high school romance that doesn’t seem to be grounded in anything but that. (I’m sorry Glee that I’m not buying what you’re trying to show me.)

Meanwhile, I do think Rachel’s speech at the end of the episode about not controlling your partner has some similar echoes of stuff that will come up in the Klaine story late in the series -- bird metaphor and all.

As a quick aside about Quinn -- she looks actually upset about having to ask Finn out to help Rachel test him (which, god Rachel, no.) Quinn hasn’t really done anything yet in this season, but it’s a nice set up for her complicated feelings about the whole thing.

Side note 2 - I feel like Rachel was given Baby One More Time to let Lea Michele be sexy -- but it comes off as really, super awkward.

And then there’s Will, who is acting even worse than Finchel. I wonder if they already started running out of ideas for Will - because he feels way more cartoonish and silly then he did in season 1. Anyway, Will is trying to be impulsive for Emma because he thinks it’s what she wants. It’s weird because he thinks he’s never impulsive -- but I’d argue that’s all he is. He doesn’t seem to think at all about the consequences for his action, and the entire narrative of the show so far seems to be derived from Will making dumbass decisions on a dime. Idk.

I actually feel a little bad about the characterization of Will at this point. He’s not allowed to grow - therefore he never learns from all the stupid things he does. :/

I don’t understand what Emma sees in him.

Meanwhile, Carl. Do people not like Carl? I think he seems fine. And John Stamos is delightful and charming in the role. Why does Emma not stay with Carl? I don’t get it.

Did Terri really need to come back? I mean - was there any real reason for her to be in this episode? Nope.

And that’s it for plot leaving -- the rest of this heap of mess, my god.

Okay, so this was when they were still trying to do musical numbers grounded in some sort of reality -- to the point that they have a dentist use a drug to get kids to hallucinate so they all start seeing Britney Spears? What even are you doing show? Just --- let there be fantasies. omg.

Why does Brittany feel invigorated by Britney Spears? I feel like I don’t get it.

I always felt like Brittany had more of an actual plotline here - but she really doesn’t. That said -- I’ll give props to the actual productions. Heather Morris (and Naya Rivera) really are amazing here, and even if I don’t like the songs, I’m sold by the music videos. Great job all around.

Meanwhile, Artie gets a number so Kevin McHale can have something to do. I don’t understand why he thinks being on the football team will win Tina back.

Why does Coach Beiste do a 180 about having Finn and Artie on the team? It feels a little random. No idea.

Meanwhile, Sue has some amusing lines. The feud is getting old, but Sue’s crazy monologues haven’t gotten stale yet.

Toxic. **sigh** I realize this was supposed to be a bit like Push It -- funny in its fail at being provocative. But I feel like it kinda failed with the inclusion of Will.

I could also do without ever seeing JBI fake masturbating (twice-ish) again. That’s not funny, Glee, it’s gross.

It’s interesting to me that Azimio and Karofsky have shown up twice now bullying -- but it’s been all Finn at this point.

Kurt’s not having a very good year so far. It’s so in the background, but I’m enjoying this struggle Kurt’s going through being in a tiny plot line throughout this season. Oh kiddo - you just need a bright ball of sunshine in your world, don’tcha. ;)

The best parts of this episode were Finn forgetting he was taking US History and Kurt saying ‘really?’ after Brittany thinks Finn can fly. I had forgotten about both - and the only real time I truly laughed during the episode.
