I can't find it now but there's a post about suspension of disbelief and how it's broken when the story starts trying to excuse it. "character gets knocked unconscious for hours but there's no further issues from this" okay 👍 "and actually this makes perfect sense because of this and that" um no it doesn't why are you lying to me. like i am willing to ignore the holes and the discrepancies!! all you need to do is let me and not bring unnecessary attention to it!!!

and all that is my issue with the whole robin child soldier argument. like i am willing to ignore it i am willing to engage with the fantasy literally all you need to do is NOT try to convince me that Actually It's Fine Because They Want To Do It or whatever. like literally just shut up about it and i can engage with the fantasy!!

Why do people think that Armand told Louis his story so he can get advantage of him later? From what I saw (and the way Assad talked about it) it seems like something Armand doesn't just share with anyone to gain sympathy points. The way he shares only a small fragment of what they did to him, changing between first and third person as he speaks... Even the way he reacts when Louis makes the groomer comment in SF and how he starts talking about with Daniel... it doesn't seem like something he says to gain something, because I don't think he really connects to his story, he doesn't think it affects him.

To me, he was just answering Louis' question. Who am I? Am I the history I have endured? The job I don't want?

Edit: also, have you seen his dramatic fake af sigh when he was talking about SF? I don't think he can fake it well

hello rospierce nation. i bring you a headcanon:

clown did not realize that he was in love with ros until after the pili fight. he knew he cared for her, obviously. he knew he cared for her a lot more than he was ready to admit to himself, even. but he didnt realize the extent of his feelings until after his fight with pili.

when pili first killed ros, all he felt was cold anger. his apprentice, his friend, his ros was with no one at her side to defend her. clown wasn't there to defend her. he wanted revenge in her name. he wanted his pound of flesh, and he wanted to serve it to her.

he fights pili. pili is wearing ros' chestplate. he wants to tear pili's throat out, because that doesn't belong to him, it was her's, it was the chestplate that clown made for ros. he fights pili, and pili bails. he stays with ros, consoling her, but the desire for pili's blood to coat his axe is too strong. he tries to track pili down. he fails. the want for revenge is overwhelming. he asks ros if bad was involved in her death, standing just inches behind the demon's exposed back. bad's life is only spared by ros' mercy. clown hopes bad is grateful, or he wont be so lucky when the time comes that ros doesn't hold clown back.

pili comes back. pili is wearing ros' helmet and leggings. clown wants his blood to run down the castle's steps, the ones ros built. he plays nice, shoving down the urge to kill as pili coos and fawns and plays cute, like he didn't just kill clown's best friend. pili grapples ros, and clown jumps him, chasing him as he chases ros.

pili escapes once more, and clown leaves, just for a moment.

pili kills ros again.

this time, there is no cold, quiet anger. this is a boiling, incandescent rage. he is going to bury pili so deep in the ground, no one will ever find him. he will tear pili limb from limb. there will be no mercy for those who hurt ros, who think they can get away with it as soon as clown has his back turned.

the bloodthirsty rage bubbles inside of him until the duel arrives. he trains with ros, for ros, and though she is a balm to his very soul, he sees her single, ephemeral life and the refusal to let her go keeps him training for nine hours straight. she stays with him the entire time. the anger is only paused every single time she scares the hell out of him every time she doesnt eat or check her armor.

the duel arrives. pili is nearly an hour late. clown hopes he's scared. clown hopes he's desperately trying to come up with a last-minute plan to somehow scrape by a win. clown hopes he knows its futile.

they fight. pili lasts longer than clown expected him to, and he can respect that. ros watches the entire time, quiet, unlike the crowd around her. there's a worried furrow in her brow that clown wishes he could brush away. he'll do it later, once this is over. he thinks she wouldnt mind him smearing pili's blood on her face.

(she's worried for him. had anyone ever been worried for minecraft's deadliest assassin in a fight? from anyone else, it would be an insult to his skill, but from ros...

his heart pounds in his chest, and it might not just be the adrenaline.)

clown wins. he brings his axe down on pili's chest, silent as pili screams out his final challenge and goodbye. ros runs, and clown can do nothing but run after her. they go through the portal together, stepping out into the bright day, the sun reflecting off of the roof of the architect's castle.

ros wastes no time in showering him with praise. she rambles, expressing how happy that she is that pili's gone, how everything seems to finally be over.

for the first time in days, clown's head is clear. he's still buzzing with the adrenaline from a good fight, he feels the incoming lead-like exhaustion from a long fight, but the rage is gone. ros was avenged, and clown's bloodlust purrs in satisfaction, slinking back into the tall grass of his mind.

clown looks at ros, and in that moment, he realizes what he has done.

pili had asked for the duel, yes, but that wasn't all that it was to clown. the duel was a statement. a statement that declared that no one would hurt ros, or clown would wipe them off the server, just like he had promised so long ago. it was a declaration that to mess with ros was to mess with clown, and clown would repay any injustice towards her tenfold.

that rage, that overwhelming need to not just protect, but to declare his protection to the entire server, was familiar. that unyielding hunt, familiar from a life lived long ago, where he slaughtered his love's killer and screamed to the heavens that no one would mess with him.

soaked in her murderer's blood, clown finally realizes he's in love with ros.
