#today's romano #hetalia #aph romano #hws romano #01.29.2025 #idk if yall care about my research #but the college at my uni sent out am email saying not to panic about funding just yet #we're still going to get paid at least for a bit #if they cant pay us though they best let us free from the part of our contract that doesn't let us work another job #idk if international students even have a visa that would let them work at a store #I'm more concerned for them #i havw enough saving to last until graduation if they stop paying me #but my fellowship might get canceled (its diversity initiative)#but we also have all the money already?#if that happens I'll just fall back on my doe project so I'll still have funding when rhe goverment allows it #I'm trying to meet with my pi and ask her if i should even still continue with my national lab applications #or give up on that dream job and do industry #because i know the semiconductor industry will hire me #i just wont be as happy #oh context I'm supposed to defend late june/early july and graduate august #but man not a good time in academia

It's always so weird to come down from the biology heavens to see what the average person believes about animals, plants, ecosystems, just the world around them. I don't even mean things that one simply doesn't know because they've never been told or things that are confusing, I'm talking about people who genuinely do not see insects as animals. What are you saying. Every time I see a crawling or fluttering little guy I know that little guy has motivations and drive to fulfill those motivations. There are gears turning in their head! They are perceiving this world and they are drawing conclusions, they are conscious. And yet it's still a whole thing if various bugs of the world feel pain or if they are simply Instinct Machines that are Not Truly Aware of Anything At All????? Help!!!!!! How can you look at a little guy and think he is just the macroscopic animal version of a virus

#yesterday i made a complainy post about a whale edit having people confused about whale sharks and orcas' dolphin and whale identity #but honestly i cant even hold these things against someone. its confusing that whale sharks are called with two different animal names!#and if you only know about the whale dolphin porpoise divide then you may not know that dolphins and porpoises and others are toothed whale #i dont think anyone is actually stupid for not having this information preinstalled in their brains #if anything it makes me happy to get to explain things because i love explaining things that i know :D #however... this #it just makes me sad :(#its so weird when this whole thing is subjected towards OTHER VERTEBRATES too like fish or reptiles or amphibians #like man.... you are a fish. your ancestors were buddy buddy (or actually probably enemy enemy) with the ancestors of these guys #fish are like a whole other class of animal to a lot of people dont even get me started #they never get the same protections as mammals or birds do even if they are just as or more endangered #mmmmm i wont rant now #biology

City of Tears. But Mini.

I wanted to make an atmospheric art piece with Dewi. And the City of Tears is one of the most sorrowing, beautiful, and grand places to do that. This is a lot of firsts for me regarding the architecture and lighting. The shadows cover a lot, and it may have been too much. I'm happy with how it turned out tho.

No idea how Dewi found his way into the City. Probably magic. Probably plot too :) But oh boy, he is experiencing childlike wonder in his raincoat!

This is a better show of the line detail I needlessly covered up in the final lol

#I love the idea that Ghost's resting spot is always on Dewi's hat. It's a great vantage point for spotting potential threats!#Quirrel doesnt mind the rain. Every piece of 1D content we get going forward is always going to be bittersweet for me -- it's never going to fill me with excitement the way it would have before Liam's death. A lot of fans don't get it -- but there's always going to be a part that's missing. I'll always be wishing things had turned out different.
