sometimes when i see your name written somewhere i think of you in a fond way. sometimes, but only sometimes, i wonder how it would be nice if i was the one to make you smile. sometimes i think how it would feel good if my playlists were full of songs you showed me.
sometimes, i ask myself if you would like my recipe of hot chocolate, and if we would discuss about what movies we were going to watch on halloween. sometimes i remember how nice your eyes are and i wish they were focusing on me for more time. sometimes i wish my favorite book had anotations from you.
sometimes i really want to hold your hand.
sometimes.

@aliteraryprincess, thank you for the tag, sweetface! <3
1. Is there a book that you reach for on a regular basis? Carry On by Rainbow Rowell is probably my main comfort book the past couple of years, but others include Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli, Just Listen by Sarah Dessen, and Sati by Christopher Pike. They all helped me figure out important things about myself and the kind of person I want to be, and I feel like I need to reread them every few years to remind myself.
2. If you had to only read ONE book over and over for the rest of your life what would it be? This is a cruel, cruel question. Maybe The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater because I don't think I could ever get tired of her writing or her characters.
3. Have you memorised a poem/quote/speech? If so, spill! I had to memorize a bit of Tamburlaine the Great by Christopher Marlowe for a Shakespeare/Marlowe class, which, frankly, was more terrifying than any speech I've ever given. (If you forget something in a speech, you can talk around it until you remember, but there's no out for exact memorization. I wasn't made to be an actress!) I'm not sure I remember it all now, but I walked around campus going, "Proud fury and intolerable fit!" for like two weeks in preparation. I could probably recite "Repetition" by Phil Kaye from memory.
4. What book from your childhood destroyed you emotionally? Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson totally wrecked me. I was so angry and upset about the ending. I don't think I ever read it again.
5. Would you rather only read tiny poems OR 400+ page books for the rest of your life? 400+ page books, for sure. I don't read a lot of poetry, but there's something comforting about books that can double as door-stops.
6. RANDOM BONUS QUESTION: what’s one thing that you taught yourself? Guitar? Hockey? Mechanical engineering? I taught myself enough html in high school to make passable websites, but I don't remember much of it.

Tag Game
Thanks to the lovelies @themelodyofspring and @petrareads for tagging me! [I actually got tagged in two different tag games but they were very similar so this is a weird hybrid version of the two lol].
Name/alias: Martina but most people call me Marti 😊
Birthday: July 7th
Zodiac: Cancer
Height: 163cm
Hobbies: Reading, cooking/baking, photography, going on walks around the city (I love getting randomly lost and trying to find my way back).
Favorite color: Orange!
Favorite books: ooooh hard question, there’s too many! 😝 The Host, The Kingkiller Chronicles, The Illuminae Files, Aristotle and Dante Discover The Secrets of The Universe, They Both Die At The End, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians has become a new favorite of mine.
Song stuck in my head: Zero by Imagine Dragons and Just One Yesterday by Fall Out Boy.
Last movie watched: Forrest Gump - I got my friend to watch it for the first time :)
Inspiration for muse: music, people and nature
Dream job: Something to do with nature/animals where I can be outside or something where I can be creative.
Do I get asks: Not really lol. (But feel free to send me some if you wanna!)
Dream trip: Japan! and New Zealand :) and at some point I wanna do a Euro Trip because despite being Italian I’ve only been to like 3 places in Europe.
Play any instruments: I used to play the flute and am trying to pick it up again (but I suck at self teaching so that’s not going well 😂)
Languages: English, Italian and I can understand Spanish - not as good at speaking it though
Favourite food: Lasagna and anything chocolate
Meaning behind my url: I wanted a punny url cause I love puns but they were all taken so my friend helped me come up with the one I have. Also I tend to buy books even when I probably shouldn’t (like when I don’t have money or shelves 😂) so the hoarder part of the url is very accurate 😝.
I tag @booksareliterarytreasures, @literaryleisha, @bo-ok-ish and @bookdating and anyone else who wants to! (if you want to, no pressure!)

Reading Tag
Thank you for the tag, @tovetar!
Do you have a certain place at home for reading? not really
Bookmark or random piece of paper? I use anything at hand: old tickets, slips of paper, etc. These can become a bit of an archive for the time when I was last reading something
Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages? It really depends on the book. When a book is very compelling and it's late and night and I need to sleep I use a trick a friend told me once: not reading to the end of the chapter so there's no cliffhangers.
Do you eat or drink while reading? mostly not
Music or TV while reading? The TV might be on in the background but I rarely read listening to music
Reading at home or everywhere? Mostly at home. I stopped reading on my commute after one time I was so focused I missed my train stop.
Reading out loud or silently in your head? I always ready silently to myself (unless sharing a sentence etc w/ someone)
Do you read ahead or even skip pages? I read very very quickly (can easily do a book a day) so I only skip when a part of the story is boring
Breaking the spine or keeping it like new? I'm not super rough with books but am not bothered to keep them like new.
On this topic, Anne Fadiman, in her fantastic book of essays: "Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader", has a great description of two kinds of book lovers: "courtly" and "carnal" lovers of books. Courtly lovers treat the book as a sacred object; carnal lovers have a more physical relationship with books. The carnal lovers (which I am): “-believed in carnal love. To us, a book's words were holy, but the paper, cloth, cardboard, glue, thread, and ink that contained them were a mere vessel, and it was no sacrilege to treat them as wantonly as desire and pragmatism dictated. Hard use was a sign not of disrespect but of intimacy.”
Do you write in your books? See above re: being a carnal book lover but it depends on the purpose - if it's just for me to learn, maybe. I might make a * next to a paragraph I think I'll want to find the text again. If to ever share or for pleasure, no.
I would tag (only if they would like to): @delgrosso, @blackboard-monitor and @bookdates
